The Truth Behind Trader Joe's Low Prices

There are many die-hard fans of Trader Joe's who will assure you that it's the best grocery store ever. And that's not just hearsay.

The great value for quality goods is what keeps customers coming back for more. But all of us have wondered from time to time how in the world Trader Joe's manages to pull that off. Although I don't ever want to ruin a good thing, my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to do some digging. Here are a couple of possible reasons:

1. Smaller spaces

"Most TJ's locations have less square footage than the average mainstream grocery store, so I'm sure they save on their overhead costs that way," says Nathan Rodgers of review site What's Good at Trader Joe's. "And it appears they pass some of those savings on to their shoppers."

2. Smaller headcount

To keep costs down, the chain generally has a lower headcount in its stores than its competitors, although there are exceptions. You won't find some of the traditional supermarket positions, like a butcher and a baker, at Trader Joe's, which also helps with costs. This means that customers can only buy precut meats and premade baked goods, but that doesn't seem to deter consumers.

3. Less selection

Trader Joe's has a smaller selection of goods, and most of its products are offered under the store-brand label, which differentiates it from other grocery chains. Fortune estimates that the typical grocery store has 50,000 items, while Trader Joe's has 4,000 - 80 percent of which are store-brand goods. Its small store sizes also don't allow for a bigger selection of goods.

This can be a negative or positive, depending on how you see the situation, because there are definitely people who do enjoy the smaller selection. Rodgers says, "Honestly, I have a hard enough time making decisions as it is. A smaller selection actually helps narrow down the choices. Plus, they're constantly shuffling things around and introducing new products. The thing that bothers me most is that they discontinue really great products occasionally."

By limiting its selection, Trader Joe's will buy larger quantities from suppliers. And it will restock at a faster rate because of the quicker turnaround - it is able to sell more of one type of product when there aren't too many choices. These two factors will drive down the costs. Although there isn't a lot of variety, customers are OK with that because they trust that the quality will be good, according to Fortune.

4. Not everything is certified organic

Some products have the label "made with organic ingredients," which Mark Kastel, cofounder of organic food industry watchdog group The Cornucopia Institute, says may mean only 70 percent of the ingredients in the product are organic. For example, the label may say the pizza was made with organic wheat and vegetables, but the cheese and meat might not be organic, which means you're getting a really "cheapened product."

"When you are going to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's or any store you have to be a conscious consumer because a lot of what is most profitable to them is not organic even though they really like to tout that they are organic," says Kastel. His advice is to take a careful look at the labels to make sure the whole product is certified organic.

5. Private about the suppliers

Trader Joe's is notoriously private about its suppliers. This is also a trademark trait of its parent company, German supermarket conglomerate Aldi. "Their hallmark is what we call private label or store brand. So you don't really know who is manufacturing it and where it's from or maybe the story behind the food," says Kastel. This enables Trader Joe's to use a competitive bidding system with suppliers and go with the lowest bid. Customers won't know when the manufacturer of the product changes.

The anonymity also benefits the suppliers as they don't want customers to know that they are making a lower-cost version for the Trader Joe's label. Last year, The Huffington Post did a taste test comparing Trader Joe's products they speculated were produced by big brands to the actual products sold under the big-brand names. The testers found that although there was a big price difference, there were no obvious differences in taste.

However, the secrecy can brew dissatisfaction among some consumers. Vani Hari, investigative food journalist and founder of FoodBabe.com, says, "If you shop at Trader Joe's and buy their Trader Joe's branded products, you'll never know which companies are producing your food. You could be supporting a company with shady or unethical business practices. Other major supermarket chains like Target and Kroger are also creating their own private label products that also create similar concerns with consumers. With the increased emphasis on the 'voting with your dollars' mentality and ingredient labels, consumers want to know where their food comes from."

6. Efficient distribution and supplier system

The company also cuts out the middleman and buys a lot of its food directly from the suppliers, which translates to lower expenses and more savings for customers. Suppliers send their food to Trader Joe's distribution centers, where it then gets sent out to the stores. Traditional supermarkets usually buy their food through a distributor, which adds on more cost.

7. Food is sourced all over the globe

Food Babe's Hari says, "Trader Joe's is able to keep their produce and goods inexpensive because they source their goods from all over the globe - especially from underdeveloped countries where prices are cheaper." The danger in this strategy is the organic food industry in foreign countries may not be well regulated.

Back in 2008, to deal with the growing concern over organic food from China, Trader Joe's announced that it planned to phase out any single-ingredient food item from China. This is a big deal given that not a lot of supermarkets follow suit. Whole Foods did not do the same and said it was in a "different position" and it didn't make sense to stop the progress it has "made with sourcing select high-quality products." However, although Trader Joe's phased out the single-ingredient items, it's not clear which multiple-ingredient products use organic ingredients from China and which other countries it is sourcing its single-ingredient products from.

8. Less money spent on marketing

The company is known for not spending as much money on marketing and advertising as its competitors. In fact, it doesn't even have an official Facebook or Twitter page. Chances are, you probably heard about the grocery chain through word of mouth. The chain has such a devoted following that customers become the brand's best "advertisers," promoting the stores in various ways - from uploading images of their favorite Trader Joe's snacks on Facebook to convincing friends to shop there. The bonus in this strategy is that the advertising costs won't be tacked on to Trader Joe's goods.

So what does this mean for those who want organic food?

It means we have to be careful as consumers and read labels. We can also do our homework and learn how to shop smart. You can start with organizations like The Cornucopia Institute, which has several helpful reports such as one that ranks the quality of dairy of several suppliers and grocers. Kastel recommends people shop at their local food co-op, which he says is the "gold standard of organic retailing."

12 Easy Ways to Mimimize Jet Lag

Jet lag can put a damper on a fun trip. To avoid feeling dehyrated and exhaused when traveling, try these easy tricks to prevent jet lag before it happens and to cure it when and if it does. These travel tips will help you enjoy your next big trip even more!

Before you leave for your trip

  • Start getting on your new schedule before you leave for your trip. If you will be jumping ahead a few hours, try going to bed a little earlier each night starting about a week before your trip. By the time you get to your destination, your body will have mostly adjusted to your new time zone.
  • Choose an overnight flight. Depending on the direction you're heading when you fly, choosing a red eye can help you get on the schedule of the place you're heading to. You can sleep on the way over and wake up on the time of the place you've arrived at.
  • Pack a pillow and headphones. Bring along anything that will help you sleep better on your flight. Neck pillows are easy to travel with and can make all the difference in how well you sleep on the plane. Headphones will help block out any noise that may disturb you.
  • Exercise. Working out can help you relieve nervous energy and tire you out before your trip so that you're able to relax and sleep well on your flight.
  • Don't stress out before your flight. Anxiety can make jet lag worse, so take measures before you travel to make your experience go as smoothly as possible. Check in to your flight the day before, get through airport security efficiently, and pack smart.

While you're flying

  • Stay hydrated. Throughout your flight, make sure to drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration, which is the part of jet lag that can make you feel the worst physically. Avoid caffeine and alcohol, as both can led to dehydration.
  • Eat smart. It's easy to opt for junk food and heavy meals while you're flying since your options can be limited. To avoid feeling sick or sluggish when you land, avoid overeating on your flight, and try to stick to lighter, healthier options if you can.
  • Stretch your legs during your flight. If you're flying a long distance, make sure to spend any time you're not sleeping moving around and staying active. This will help get the blood flowing throughout your body and prevent muscle stiffness when you arrive.
  • Sleep! Sleep is one of the best ways to avoid jet lag, especially if you are going several hours forward into a new time zone. Even if you aren't, it's important to get as much sleep as you can so that when you land, you haven't lost the equivalent of a night's sleep. Get comfortable with a pillow, blanket, sleep mask, and headphones, and doze off.

When you arrive at your destination

  • Sync up with the local time. In order to get on the right schedule, try to stay awake until it's time for bed at your new destination. This will help you reset your schedule, so that you can get your body on local time.
  • Get some natural light you when land. Natural light is a stimulant and can help revitalize you throughout the day at your new destination so that you can make it until bed time. Spend time enjoying your new location outdoors!
  • Stay on your regular exercise schedule. If you're active at home, try to get some exercise while you're traveling. Getting off your schedule can disrupt your sleep patterns further.

Make It Shine: How to Clean Your Stainless Steel Sink

If your kitchen sink is a bit dingy, then make it look just like new with eco-friendly materials you already have in your kitchen. And there's no scrubbing involved with this quick clean that basically costs nothing to make. Safely buff your way to a fresh and sparkling basin that will stay that way for weeks.

What You'll Need:

  • Sponge
  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Lemon or orange peel
  • Olive oil
  • Paper towel

Directions:

  1. Give your sink a quick wash and rinse, removing all dishes and any food bits from the drain. Then sprinkle the entire sink with baking soda and use a soft sponge, working in a circular movement, to scrub the basin. Baking soda softly cleans without scratching stainless steel.
  1. Rinse the sink with vinegar, which will bubble and fizz. Vinegar naturally disinfects while helping remove hard water stains from your stainless steel sink. Then lightly rub with the sponge and rinse the sink with water. You can also drop a garbage disposal refreshing bomb down the drain to keep the entire sink smelling fresh.
  2. Put lemon or orange peel to good use, and rub the entire sink basin with a section of peel, rubbing the skin against the stainless steel, which helps deodorize the sink while helping the basin keep its new shine.
  1. Finish by buffing with a paper towel and a touch of olive oil. Your sink will stay wonderfully shiny for several weeks before needing a refresher.

Miles Teller Is Bruised, Broken, and Half-Naked in the Inspirational Bleed For This Trailer

The trailer for Miles Teller's inspirational Bleed For This is finally here, and it was worth the wait. The movie is based on the true story of Vinny "The Pazmanian Devil" Pazienza (Teller), a hot-shot boxer from Rhode Island who is on top of the world after winning two world title fights until a near-fatal car accident severs his spine and derails his boxing career. Refusing to accept that he'll never walk or box again, Vinny begins the long, extremely painful journey of reclaiming his title with the help of a dedicated trainer (a very bald Aaron Eckhart) and his family. The trailer is gritty and inspiring, and even if you're not into boxing, there's a shot of Teller in a pair of itty-bitty leopard-print underwear, so do with that what you will. Bleed For This is slated to hit theaters in November.

Game of Thrones: Everything We Know About Lyanna Stark

This season of Game of Thrones employed Bran Stark and his greensight to show us past events that we never thought we'd be able to see, like key events in the life of one young Ned Stark. The season's second episode revealed a scene from Ned's childhood back at Winterfell, and we couldn't take our eyes off a character we've heard a bit about but never really seen: Ned's sister, Lyanna. Finally, in the season's concluding episode, we returned to Tower of Joy to discover the truth about Lyanna. All this time, the show has been setting us up to learn more about Lyanna, the history of House Stark, and what it all might mean for the future. If you're not familiar with Lyanna Stark, let's go over the info we have from the books and the show.

Lyanna Was Ned's Only Sister

Early on in season six, Bran uses his greensight to visit a day in the life of the Winterfell kids, one generation before him. There's his father, Ned, older brother Brandon, younger brother Benjen, and the only girl: Lyanna. This is the most the show had revealed about a young Lyanna (and the first time she's had a face). Seen on horseback, she seems to have a lot on common with Arya; she's no handmaiden, hidden away inside learning to be a young lady. Even so, we know that she blossomed into one of the most eligible bachelorettes of her generation.

She Was Promised to Robert Baratheon, Who Started a War When She Was Kidnapped

Lyanna's engagement and subsequent kidnapping are legendary in Westeros. She was engaged to Robert Baratheon, who is pretty open about the fact that he never got over her, revealing how heartbroken he is in Lyanna's tomb below Winterfell in the series premiere. (And later, to his wife, Cersei. Ouch.)

The story goes that while Robert and Lyanna were engaged, Rhaegar Targaryen (an older brother of Daenerys who was dead before the show began) kidnapped her, inciting Robert's Rebellion when the "Mad King," Aerys Targaryen, refused to see his own son to justice. "Robert started a war to win her back. He killed Rhaegar, but she died anyway," Bran Stark says in season one, filling us in on the story. In season five, Sansa Stark reveals the world's perception of what happened: "Yes, he chose her, and then he kidnapped her and raped her." Indeed, Rhaegar being married to someone else and making off with Lyanna wasn't just quite the scandal - it's an event that still has reverberations in the Game of Thrones universe today.

Lyanna Had a Child Before She Died

Ned Stark was Robert's right-hand man, and as such, he was with him during Robert's Rebellion (and also because he obviously wanted to save his sister). In season six, we see Ned and Howland Reed approach the Tower of Joy after Rhaegar's death, and after Ned and Howland dishonorably defeat Arthur Dayne, Ned races up the Tower after he hears screaming - Lyanna's screaming. She dies there, but it's never revealed how, and what happened, until the season six finale. We learn that the birth of her child, a son, has caused her to bleed out. Her last words to her brother involve her asking Ned to protect her child.

The Longheld "R+L=J" Theory

The widely held theory basically stated that Jon Snow is the illegitimate son of Lyanna and Rhaegar, a theory that's proven in the season six finale. The promise was to protect Jon. Remember how, before Ned leaves for King's Landing in season one, he tells Jon they'll talk about his mother when he gets back, but then conveniently dies before he can? Hopefully he'll find out another way about his parentage next season.

The Complete Guide to All 21 Major Houses on Game of Thrones

If there's one thing Game of Thrones is never short on, it's intrigue. At any given time the show is focused on the plans and plots of at least a dozen different people. So how do you keep them all straight? Try going by house. Every house in Westeros has its own identity, motto, loyalties, and enemies, which play into the decisions their members make. Here's a breakdown of all the major houses in Game of Thrones, based on where in Westeros they're located - and why they'll be important to the game in the long run.

Game of Thrones: Everything You Might Want to Know About Rhaegar Targaryen

Even though we've gotten to meet a whole bunch of new characters on Game of Thrones this season, there's one name that keeps popping up who we'll likely never see in the flesh: Rhaegar Targaryen. The famed Targaryen prince might be long dead in both the books and the show, but as we learned during the crazy sixth season finale, he plays a huge role in the Game of Thrones universe. Join us as we explain why.

  • He is the eldest son of the Mad King, Aerys II. Prince Rhaegar Targaryen is the son of King Aerys Targaryen and Queen Rhaella Targaryen, making him Daenerys and Viserys's older brother (though Dany was born after his death).
  • He is married to a Dornish princess and has two children, who are later murdered by The Mountain. Rhaegar and Princess Elia Martell (Oberyn Martell's sister, FYI) of Dorne have a daughter, Rhaenys, and a son, Aegon. The children are killed, and then Ser Gregor Clegane rapes Elia before stabbing her to death with a sword. Makes sense why Oberyn wanted to kill him so bad, huh?
  • He allegedly abducts Lyanna Stark, which ignites the deadly rebellion against the Targaryens. Despite a seemingly happy marriage to Princess Elia, it seems Rhaegar abducts Ned's sister for undisclosed reasons. When the Starks order Rhaegar to release Lyanna, the Mad King has both Ned's father, Rickard, and oldest brother, Brandon, cruelly executed. This prompts Ned and Robert Baratheon (who is betrothed to Lyanna) to team up with several other clans to take down the Targaryens.
  • He dies at the end of Robert Baratheon's hammer. Although Rhaegar manages to avoid the initial uprising while living in Dorne, he's eventually summoned to battle. During a fight known as the Battle of the Trident, Rhaegar goes up against Robert, who deals him a fatal blow with his warhammer.
  • He has been mentioned in the show many times before. In the first episode of season one, Robert and Ned share an emotionally charged moment in the crypt where Lyanna is buried, where Robert reveals that "he kills [Rhaegar] every night" in his dreams. In season three, Jorah Mormont and Ser Barristan Selmy bicker over how honorable Rhaeger truly was in front of Daenerys, and Barristan brings him up again in season five when he shares some pleasant memories of Rhaegar's love of singing. Petyr Baelish also recounts the events surrounding Rhaegar's kidnapping of Lyanna to Sansa Stark in the same crypt where Robert and Ned were years earlier.
  • He's almost definitely Jon Snow's father. By far the most significant point of Rhaegar's role in the current state of Westeros is his assumed parentage of Jon Snow. In the season six finale, Bran travels back in time, once again, to the Tower of Joy, where Lyanna is being held captive. Ned arrives to rescue his dying sister, who reveals she is the mother of Jon Snow and begs Ned to raise the baby as his own. We can assume Jon is a Targaryen, especially because Lyanna says Robert will kill Jon if he discovers the truth. This whole scene also feeds into the myth of the "Prince That Was Promised."

Pretty Little Liars: Mary Drake Reveals How She Ended Up in Radley Sanitarium

Mary Drake's past on Pretty Little Liars is slowly but surely becoming less of a mystery. The secret twin of Jessica DiLaurentis hasn't been in the picture due to many years spent in Radley Sanitarium - that, and the fact that she was driven away by her sister long ago. What we already knew going into this season is that Mary gave birth to CeCe in Radley and raised her there for a couple of years. The real question has been, what brought Mary to Radley in the first place? Well, good news, everyone, the truth has finally been revealed . . . and perhaps this twin isn't as crazy (or evil) as she seems.

In the second episode of season seven, Mary goes to talk to Spencer for another heart to heart. She tells Spencer that she is actually really worried about Hanna, whom she picked up from the side of the road the other night and who is being kept in a psych ward by Dr. Rollins. No one is allowed to visit her, including Mary, even though she's family. Spencer then asks why Mary was committed herself.

Turns out, when Mary and Jessica were just 14, Jessica was babysitting an infant named Teddy Carver, who had a cold. The job seemed to be too much for Jessica, because she called over her twin sister to help. However, by the time Mary got there, everything seemed to be perfectly fine, and Jessica already had put Teddy to bed upstairs. She then asked Mary if she could stay to watch him so she could leave and hang out with a boy.

Well, as you could probably assume, this was a bad idea! Jessica left, and Mary stayed. When Teddy's parents came home, his mother went upstairs to check on him, only to find him dead. Mary says she told everyone that Jessica was the last to see Teddy alive, but no one would believe her word over Jessica's, because Jessica was the "warm" one. Mary says her parents then admitted her to Radley . . . it was either that or prison.

So does this mean that Mary is actually perfectly sane and perhaps not evil? Does this mean Jessica is actually evil? What happened to Teddy? Why does Mary feel so comfortable telling Spencer all her secrets? Hopefully we get all of these answers by the end of this season!

Let's review everything we know about the Carissimi Group.

Who's Still on Arya's Kill List on Game of Thrones?

Arya Stark is back in Westeros in the season six finale of Game of Thrones, which means she has returned to full revenge mode. Now that she's picked up a few tricks from the time she spent at the House of Black and White, her first order of business is avenging the deaths of her mother and brother during the Red Wedding at the hands of Walder Frey. Of course, now we're all wondering who the fiercest Stark girl will pick next from her kill list (our money is on Melisandre).

Arya's Kill List, if you don't remember, is the list of people she started reciting a few seasons ago after losing almost her entire family at the hands of various villains. There were 11 names on the list originally, though Arya only mentions a few this season - one with a special caveat. If you've forgotten who's on it and what they did, we're reminding you of that and whether they're still alive (fun fact: the list is slightly different in the book than on the TV show).

Everything We Know About American Horror Story Season 6

We have plenty of ideas for season six of American Horror Story, but we know precious little about what's actually coming up on the next installment of the miniseries. Having said that, we do have a few tidbits about who will be involved and the theme of next season. Here's what we know!

12 Things to Know About Everyone's Favorite Beer: Corona

Chances are all the cookouts you'll hit up this Summer will have a few bottles of icy and refreshing Corona ready for guests to take a sip. After all, Coronas represent a lazy Summer of relaxation by the beach, right? Right! That's actually a fact, approved by the brand itself, whose label depicts a sunset by the ocean. 6. The beer is made with a mix of filtered water, malted barley, hops, corn, and yeast.

  11. It's not clear why Corona is served with lime wedges. Some theories say a bartender simply tried to see how fast a trend could spread, while some others believed it all started to mask the bad taste of a bottle gone awry. The New York Times also says that it could have been to disinfect the top of the bottle.
  12. In Spain, Corona is known as Coronita due to a trademark issue. There are several theories about the owner of the name Corona there, from a wine company to the royal family.

8 Grain-Free Foods You Can Feel Confident About Feeding to Your Pets

It's become a huge trend in recent years to feed your pets the highest-quality food. While cheaper and perhaps lower-quality foods are still staples in pet stores and many homes, the health benefits of feeding grain-free or organic foods to your dogs and cats are becoming more widely publicized and people are taking note. One company that specializes in these high-quality foods is The Honest Kitchen. CEO Lucy Postins said there's a direct link between what animals eat and how healthy they are, which is why she developed this human-grade food in her kitchen that is now part of The Honest Kitchen.

Grain-free foods are exactly what they sound like. They're a food blend that contains all the nutrients your pet needs, with no added fillers. When I asked Dr. Leilani Alvarez, who works at New York City's Animal Medical Center, about this new food trend, she said the most important part of alternative foods (like grain free) is finding something complete and balanced that your pet will eat.

"You want something less processed and with few allergens, which is a common problem with grains," she said of the fillers commonly used in foods. While allergies in pets can run the gamut, cutting out processed foods with a large list of ingredients is a good method of alleviating your pet's issues. She also pointed out that you want the first ingredient or two on a bag of food to be a real food like meat to ensure it's chock-full of protein and goodness.

As with anything related to your pet's diet, it's wise to consult your veterinarian before making any changes. As a trained professional who also knows about your specific pet, he or she can make the best judgment call. If you've done your homework and talked to your vet and decided to go grain free, we suggest trying one of the foods in this gallery, as they've come highly recommended. We pulled one option from each brand, but all the brands offer other varieties. Scroll through to see them all.

One of the most common times of year for dogs to go missing is Fourth of July because of all the indoor/outdoor activities and the inevitable fireworks. The organization put together this handy infographic about tagging your pets, microchipping them, and downloading its safety app, all of which are easy tips to keep in mind when you're celebrating Independence Day this weekend.

17 People Who Emoji Better Than You

Reason 3,937 we love emoji: they tell a story. Whether that's a story about what's wrong with your life or a story about how you danced your butt off last night, those little symbols capture so much significance.

How to Solve This Annoying but Common Instagram Dilemma

When it comes to Instagram photos, the double-tap is only good for so much. Every now and then it's a good idea to save your (and your friends') filtered pictures - you know, in case you want to do something crazy like print them. Or turn them into magnets. Here are three easy ways to get it done.

1. Save Photos to Your Computer, One at a Time

There's no way to do this on Instagram directly, but thankfully the website Gramfeed has you covered. Just sign in with your Instagram log-in and click on the photo you want to save (yours, your friend's, or anyone who's public). In the upper-right corner, hit "Download." This will open the photo in a new tab, and all you have to do is drag it to your desktop.

2. Save Photos to a Computer in Bulk

Don't want to save one picture at a time? Try 4K Stogram, an Instagram downloader for PC, Mac, and Linux. Just enter an Instagram username or photo link, and you can save up to hundreds of photos at a time. Here's an easy-to-follow tutorial from our friend Veronica Belmont.

3. On Mobile

Thanks goodness for apps, because they're pretty much the only way to save other peoples' pictures onto your phone. We recommend InstaSaver Free, which shows you your Instagram feed - all you do is tap on a picture, hit the download sign, and it automatically saves the photo to your camera roll.

And make sure you're downloading all the photos you post to Instagram by going to your Instagram options and turning on "Save Original Photos." This will automatically save your pictures to your camera roll once you've shared them with your followers.

Not too bad, huh?

Everything We Know So Far About Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's Upcoming Wedding

Although Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus have yet to reveal any details about their upcoming wedding, sources close to the pair have not been so tight-lipped. After rumors swirled that the duo had officially resumed their engagement following their reconciliation in January, Miley stepped out sporting a very similar ring to the one Liam originally proposed to her with back in 2012, if not the same ring. A couple months later, an insider told Us Weekly that the "Wrecking Ball" singer was reportedly hard at work planning her big day, saying, "She wants a Summer wedding." As we wait for more details to unfold, check out everything we know about Miley and Liam's nuptials so far, then get all caught up on what led them to this point with a look back at their epic saga.

The Engagement Ring

Shortly after rumors swirled that Miley and Liam had reconciled in January, Miley began wearing a ring that looks to be the same one Liam gave her in 2012.

The Wedding Planning

Miley is reportedly busy planning her nuptials to Liam, and in April, a source close to the pair told Us Weekly that she "wants a Summer wedding" and her mom, Tish, is helping her plan the vows. On the contrary, another source added that "It's very possible they'll just run off to Vegas and tie the knot!"

The Venue

A source revealed to Us Weekly in June that the couple has been "discussing potential venues and looking around" Liam's native Australia. Days later, another insider told the publication that "they're getting married on the beach."

Someone Made the Nimbus 2000 From Harry Potter and It Looks Insanely Difficult

As we've learned from people's various takes on the Weasley family clock, Harry Potter-inspired DIY projects don't tend to be easy. Case in point: Imgur user Goodmen999's construction of the Nimbus 2000 racing broom.

The beautiful broom was first made by scaling its dimensions as it appeared in the movie - the only issue being that different brooms were used throughout filming. After determining the approximate measurements, he sawed the shape down from a piece of mahogany wood, attached styrofoam to one end of the broom, and covered the styrofoam with thin branches. Then, once he created a metal gold stand, he painted the finished product in a clear lacquer. If we're being honest, the whole project sounds hard as f*ck.

Check out the impressive undertaking below. Full disclosure: this is not a DIY for the faint of heart - but it is awesome.

Paint Mixing Videos Are the Most Oddly Satisfying Trend on the Internet

Some people get massages to relax, while others go for a jog - but for millennials, one of the easiest ways to unwind is using social media. Yoga Can Help You Get Ahead at Work - Here's How

If you've been practicing yoga regularly, you've no doubt started to feel the positive effects on your body and mind. Once you roll up your mat after class and fix that postyoga messy bun, you feel light, energized, and conscious. But did you know that you could use what you learn in yoga class to be more successful at work? Read on to learn ways to take your yoga practice into the workplace, beyond your postclass "namaste."

Make Room For Mindfulness

The very idea of yoga is to find presence in each moment, without dwelling on the past or racing toward the future. While you may have mastered keeping your mind still during Warrior 2, do you still have trouble focusing on tasks during work? Try bringing all of your attention to whatever task you've started - that means saying no to multitasking. Having a one-on-one with your manager? Hold the space by paying attention, getting curious with questions, and setting deadlines for accountability. Try setting aside an hour at the beginning or end of your day to tackle emails, instead of getting distracted by notifications throughout the day. Being present will help with anxiety, stress, and being overwhelmed by your to-do list.

Nonreactivity Is Key

Yoga teaches us to accept whatever comes our way, without being attached to one outcome or another. Wouldn't it be fantastic if our co-workers never made any snide remarks and we got every promotion we ever wished for? Since we don't live in utopia, there will always be chaos and challenge in life, especially at work. While yoga won't make that go away, it can teach us not to dive into that negative space and, instead, find calm within. Practicing meditation or breathing techniques before work or during a lunch break will allow you to slow down before jumping to conclusions and reacting rashly.

Wherever You Are, Find Light

In yoga when we greet each other with the Sanskrit word namaste, we're basically saying, "the light that resides within me, recognizes and honors the light within you." It's easy to get bogged down and stuck in the seriousness of work, especially in a high-stress environment. Apply that principle of finding the light in the toughest situations to ground yourself. Did your new project totally face plant? Celebrate the learnings from that failure. Struggling with a new program? Ask for help and give thanks to a mentor. If we can flip our perception and stop labeling situations as "bad," everything becomes an opportunity.

Of course, none of these principles come easy. The same way you may wobble in Dancer's pose before hitting your stride, applying these yogic attributes to the workplace requires practice and patience.

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky Look So in Love It Hurts

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky are all about sharing sweet snaps of their three children, India, Tristan, and Sasha, but what might be even cuter are the pictures of them as a duo. They went public with their relationship in 2010, got married in December that year, and since then they've had plenty of adorable moments on the red carpet and at events. Chris, who is 32, doesn't shy away from showing PDA with his 39-year-old wife, and we got further proof during their latest red carpet appearance at the premiere of The Huntsman: Winter's War. Start scrolling to see Chris and Elsa's picture-perfect couple pics and then check out all the most ridiculously hot images of Chris.

Which Badass Harry Potter Witch Are You?

We've all got a favorite Harry Potter character (or five), but that doesn't mean that they match our personalities. After all, if every person who adores the Weasley twins shared their affinity for practical jokes, the world would be filled with whoopee cushions and cling-wrapped toilets. But using this addictive personality quiz from Playbuzz, you can find out which witch from the series you're most like. Thanks to the wide variety of badass ladies in J.K. Rowling's magical novels, there's no disappointing result - except Dolores Umbridge, of course! Take the test below to discover your witchy soul mate, then find out which hybrid Hogwarts house you belong in.

Here's the Deal With Supernatural Star Misha Collins's Massive Charity Scavenger Hunt

For the fifth year in a row, Supernatural star Misha Collins is launching GISHWHES . . . or the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen. Although the scavenger hunt has been around for years, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. This year, Misha has already been turning it out - he bestowed Jensen Ackles with a People's Choice Award, launched a crisis hotline for fans, and, of course, has continued to delight as everyone's favorite angel on Supernatural, Castiel. Come the end of the July, though, Misha's year is going to get a whole lot crazier. So, what do you need to know if you want to participate in GISHWHES? We're breaking it down below.

  1. Registration is open! The hunt launches on July 30 and runs for a week. You'll be placed in 15-person teams. There are thousands of participants out of over 100 countries!
  2. The event has seven Guinness World Records to its name. They include: Largest Photo Scavenger Hunt (2011), Largest Media Scavenger Hunt (2012), Most Pledges For Campaign (2012), Largest Online Photo Album of "Hugs" (2013), Largest Chain of Safety Pins (2013), Largest Gathering of People Dressed as French Maids (2014), Most People in a Decorated Hat Competition (2014), and Longest Human Chain to Pass Through a Hula Hoop (2014). Who knows what'll happen this year?!
  3. There are hundreds of tasks. You could be asked to do anything, from giving out free hugs while covered in whipped cream to feeding your sick friend soup . . . with a leaf-blower.
  4. You've got to get some points. The more you do, the more points you get. The more points you get, the better chance you have of taking the grand prize!
  5. You could win a major prize. The winning team wins an all-expenses-paid trip to Iceland . . . with Misha Collins.
  6. There's an important message. The whole thing is meant to encourage us to live our best abnormal lives. According to the website, GISHWHES "believes that 'normalcy' is overrated and that true 'living' can be found hidden under the rocks of community artistic creation, acts of artistic sublime public performances, and random acts of kindness."

Feel like you want to participate? Visit the official website to get a full rundown of what to expect, and get hunting!
