Tenor's 4 Most Popular Memes of 2017

2017 may have been a year of turmoil politically, but boy has it been a damn good year for memes. The last 12 months have featured more insanely viral moments than ever before, and it's become something of a coping mechanism to use those images and ideas to represent what we're going through at any given time.

In order to take a look back at the year that was, the good people at Tenor - the top GIF keyboard across iOS and Android, as well as many of our most used social media apps - have pulled together the most shared memes on the platform in 2017. Just like our list of the best GIFs this year, the winners embody a whole lot of feelings that we've all experienced with each passing news cycle and trend.

So, without further ado, scroll through the top four memes of 2017 ahead.

Meet Hope, a Platform Designed to Turn Your Trump-Related Anxiety Into Action

Nearly a year after the 2016 election, one thing is for certain: it's exhausting to live in President Donald Trump's America. It's hard not to get lost in the cycle of outrage and fear; with more threats to our freedoms being piled on with each successive day, keeping up with the issues as well as the constant barrage of political battles and Twitter spats is damn near impossible. For many, that also means it's increasingly daunting to figure out just what one can do to make their voice heard on the things that matter most to us as Americans. Thankfully, a company called Purpose recognized this problem - and it came up with an innovative solution named Hope.

"We were concerned that the chaos and fear that this administration was causing might actually make people turn away from participating in our democracy, or might make people feel powerless," Purpose's head of labs and the executive director of Purpose Climate Lab Jessy Tolkan tells me over the phone on Oct. 11. "So we were searching for a way to help people break down and understand the news and also feel empowered to make a difference in this really remarkable and unique political moment."

The solution Purpose ultimately landed on took the form of a pseudo-chatbot. Hope is there to tell you via text or your browser that something's going on - and, based on how you interact with a series of resulting questions, guide you toward the right type of action. But to be clear, there's no artificial intelligence or machine learning involved here. "This political moment requires really savvy, smart human beings who are strategic in driving citizens to meaningful action," Tolkan says, adding, "Hope is powered by savvy millennial ladies who are helping their peers across America to navigate these really tricky times."

Purpose sees the tool as a "political advisor" for the masses, the "friend in the political know" who's there to provide you with insider information when you're feeling completely anxious about the news or paralyzed by a lack of clarity around what you can do to help. And with so many things going on at the same time these days, it's a relief to know that you've got someone in your back pocket that will actually tell you what you need to know - not just entice you with a push alert that drags you in to reading a 10,000-word treatise on the state of the world.

But it's not just about one issue or one article. . . and that's a tricky line to toe. Hope is the direct ancestor of hybrid newsletter-and-call-to-action organizations, ones that Tolkan herself says upfront that she's got a lot of love for. But the scope of their ability to enact change is limited to a single cause per email and often comes several hours too late after the fact. "Maybe you receive that email and you care about that topic - and maybe you don't. But the Hope experience is designed to give you a lot of choice, to follow the story that matters to you, that inspires you, to take the kind of action that feels right to you," she says.

And in using the platform, that sentiment comes through in spades. It's customized to you, your feelings, what you are most comfortable with. "It's a bit of a choose your own adventure," Tolkan says. "It really is designed to give people a chance to be in conversation with Hope. And I think that's important, because the truth is some days we want to fight back against horrible immigration policies, and some days we want to fight back against the misogyny that Trump is perpetuating across America, and some days I want to scream from the rooftops, 'I can't believe, President Trump, that you will not condemn the behavior of white supremacists!' But there's a lot - and I want to be able to have a platform that gives me the opportunity to act on a whole plethora of issues."

It's important to note that Hope isn't there to tell you to do things that won't have any concrete impact. "In an era where there's a lot of fakeness going on, Hope is not giving you actions that are going to make no impact - she's not telling you to call Congress when calling Congress isn't going to do sh*t," Tolkan says. "If something terrible happens and the truth is there's not a lot we can do in that moment, Hope is going to tell you that. Hope is going to give you a moment to say the best thing you can do today is go home and hug your family and remember that tomorrow is a new day." Hope exists to create a conversation, to start a dialogue - and the express purpose of that dialogue is to have an honest, real conversation about what's going on in the world. It's from there, Purpose believes, that real change and real (lowercase h) hope can be born.

"We refuse to lose hope in this moment. We really believe - I so believe - in the power of people," Tolkan tells me. "I have to say that as a youngish woman - a proud member of the millennial generation - I really believe in the power of my generation to push back on what's happening right now. And I wanted to put in the hands of my peers a tool to be able to do that better, and it felt like her name had to be Hope. Because I do think that this tool is part of what gives me hope, and it's part of what enables all of us to ensure that our voices and our beliefs and our demands are not lost in this moment."

Going forward, the idea is that Hope will continue to grow and adapt and become more integral to the conversation about activism and standing up for what we believe in as American citizens. And she won't be alone in that effort; there will be friends joining Hope on her mission to educate and empower.

"People who sign up for Hope are going to be introduced to lots of Hope's friends in the weeks and months ahead," Tolkan says. "And that might mean hearing from the heads of advocacy organizations like Planned Parenthood, or they may hear from an expert organizer on our team at Purpose, or they might hear from a head of an environmental group . . . . Hope is this really smart, really savvy voice who is going to build a real relationship with users and then bring in her friends when that's helpful to tell the story of what's going on. In other words, the company is leveraging its activism-based relationships to make the tool a more well-rounded, informative outlet for what's to come."

Ultimately, the fact that Hope isn't AI- or machine-based shouldn't be overlooked. It's oddly comforting to know that the voice behind the screen isn't algorithm-based; instead, it's coming straight from the hearts and minds of people just like you. At a time when a lot of the internet giants are glumly confessing to enabling Russian interference in the 2016 election, it's nice to know that what you sign up for is what you get, that an accidental intruder won't be blindly instructing you to do something while being on the payroll of a foreign power. But I digress. Hope isn't a social media platform like Facebook or Twitter. It's more of a social evolution platform, there to help you sift through the noise and feel less helpless - and to enable you to understand without going into complete and utter overload.

"These are scary and overwhelming times," Tolkan tells me at the beginning of our call. But Hope is here to "make it easier and more direct to be a meaningful participant in pushing back on the scary," and from where I stand, she could not have possibly come at a better time.

36 Moves to Change Your Life For the Better

I don't really believe in making New Year's resolutions. Most of the time you don't end up keeping them, and then you just feel worse because you committed to something and didn't follow through with it. Resolutions shouldn't necessarily be things to stop doing or to get rid of, but instead they should be about embracing a different mindset. If part of getting happier for you does mean dropping some bad habits - great. But the real key to making your life amazing this year is to find what makes you happy and do whatever it takes to get it and keep it. Here are some ways to make this the best year of your whole life.

You Won't Believe This Gorgeous House Is Only 362 Square Feet

"At under 400 square feet, our Craftsman cottage is indeed tiny, but in the five years we've been here, we've never needed more space," says Whitney Leigh Morris, small-space living aficionado, designer, and blogger behind The Tiny Canal Cottage. So what's her secret to making everything fit? "Nearly everything about the cottage - from the built-ins to the decor - was deliberately chosen to maximize the space. I selected furniture and accessories over time as we learned how to best navigate this particular layout with one another." Whitney recently refreshed her Venice Beach, CA, home for Spring, and the pictures were so stylish and full of small-space living inspiration that we had to share them with you. 17 Secrets From TSA Employees That Will Completely Shock You

They're the ones constantly telling you to throw out your water bottle and they're the ones who are paid to ensure our safety whenever we fly. Travelers often have a love/hate relationship with TSA officials. They are there for an important reason, but when it's 5 a.m. and you forgot about a liquid over 3.4 ounces that you left in the bottom of your bag and are now being forced to dig it out, they can also seem like your worst nightmare.

Still, Transportation Security Administration employees don't have an easy job - from angry travelers to carrying the weight of thousands of passengers' safety on their shoulders, it can be a difficult gig. And, oh, the things they have seen. Two TSA employees, one a former TSA supervisor and one a TSA agent, did an AMA and an IamA on Reddit, and some of the secrets they revealed will seriously shock you. From what they've found in people's luggage to the ridiculous things travelers have tried to smuggle on their flights, these TSA employees tell all.

1. What happens to confiscated items like pocket knives and other items that are accidentally forgotten and brought through TSA?

"They go into storage rooms, and TSA eventually pays somebody to take them away. At my airport, we had a couple of oil drums full of random knives and tools. Our airport paid some guy three states away to take the items away; he'd put them on eBay."

2. OK, sex toys. How often did you find those in luggage? Anything really kinky?

"All the time. I once found a two-foot long, black double-header surrounded by dirty thongs and a huge bottle of anal lube."

3. What's the most ridiculous thing someone tried to take on a plane that they were actually allowed to take?

"Somebody took a golf club through the checkpoint and said it was their cane. We weren't allowed to question him."

4. What has been your most frightening moment on the job?

"I once opened a checked bag and saw what looked like a PVC tube with lights and wires sticking out under some clothes. I promptly flipped out and thought I was looking at a pipe bomb. Then, I moved some clothes out of the way and saw that it was a prosthetic hand."

5. What was the weirdest thing you had to flag at an security check?

"I once had a request for private screening, which we usually took to mean that we were about to see something weird. The bag was incredibly heavy. After we go behind a curtained-off area, the passengers show me six blocks of mixed metal, four huge bags of random pieces of gold, and two bags of human teeth. Apparently, the couple made a killing off of buying teeth from a crematorium, melting out the fillings, and selling the resulting metal. It smelled bad."

6. Do you see many good-meaning passengers forget about weapons or any other dangerous things they normally keep in their bags?

"All the time. One guy forgot that he had left his pistol in his bag and ended up going to jail for six months or so."

7. What's the best way to make your case when the screener thinks an item isn't permitted, even though the regulations explicitly allow it?

"Ask them to call a supervisor and check the SOP (standard operating procedure)."

8. What is the craziest thing somebody has ever tried to take onto a plane?

"A bag full of fireworks."

9. Why do the policies change based off the airport or even TSA person?

"The basic SOP (standard operating procedure) that most officers have to know is several hundred pages long; few of them have actually read the whole thing and are essentially relying on word of mouth. Taken alone, the individual restrictions make some sense, but combined, they're a mess for anybody to figure out. For example, bowling balls are presumably allowed because they're not weapons, but bludgeoning items (baseball bats, clubs) aren't because they can be used as weapons. When it's all put together, it's a mess."

10. What's the weirdest thing you found in someone's luggage?

"During checked baggage screening, one of my officers opened a bag that has maggots crawling all over the inside."

11. How would you change the security system if you had free reign to do so (from basic steps/regulations to complete redesigns)?

"TSA likes to solve problems with new 'stuff.' You'll notice that things like the backscatter machines and 'puffers' didn't last long, but cost hundreds of millions. Also, the average screener is very good at finding dangerous items; they're not very good at finding dangerous people. I'd scale back much of the newer technology, add better training on warning signs when dealing with people, and pour more money into law enforcement and intel."

12. What is the biggest thing that passengers do that, if they didn't, would make the lines move much quicker?

"Forget to take their liquids and laptops out of their luggage. It was seriously on eight signs leading up to our checkpoints, but nobody actually reads signs on their way to a 6 a.m. flight."

13. What is the most ridiculous situation you were involved in while on-duty?

"Some guy required additional screening because our explosive detection system alarmed (happens all the time). He ended up pulling off his pants and yelling 'Is this good enough for you?'"

14. Is there an honest belief within the organization that you are actually helping? Or is this just a job?

"Definitely just a job. It's really hard to think we are actually helping when we are told our job is 90 percent 'customer service.' Also the rules we actually have are a joke (liquids, nail files, etc.) but some people feel more secure after 9/11. We have the worst reputation ever. I think it's because flying stresses most people out. They are constantly panicking over being late, etc. And we are always just holding them up. I totally get it, I actually travel quite often and regularly have issues at other airports."

15. How likely was it that the people looking at the screen knew that I had brought condoms in my bag?

"Extremely likely. Condom wrappers and condoms are extremely distinctive in the X-ray."

16. What do you guys do with all the liquids? Do you get to keep them? Or does the government sell them? I would love to keep all the alcohol if I were you!

"They go in the garbage. Nobody can keep them, since they were taken out because they may or may not be explosives. I've thrown out some extremely good alcohol before, and it made me cry a little on the inside every time."

17. Does the TSA have the authority to arrest and place someone under custody? Or in a situation where something illicit is found, do you have to wait for local/federal authorities to actually place them under arrest?

"We have to wait for proper authorities to show up and they deal with it from then."

The Royal Train Is Basically a Mobile Buckingham Palace

It's a miniature Buckingham Palace in motion, a sleek and streamlined royal residence of the railroads, and the queen's favorite way to travel: the royal train. It's a centuries-old institution which is still shuttling senior members of the royal family around today.

Queen Victoria was the first monarch to use it, although a lot of her frills and fancies have made way for a more functional and contemporary mode of transport - although still with some romantically retro touches. Peek inside the royal train ahead.

A New Harry Potter Game Will Let Us Live Out Our Hogwarts Dreams in 2018

On Dec. 12, a little over a month after we found out that there would be an augmented reality-based Harry Potter game coming next year, we got the long-awaited, much-desired (and superexciting!) news that Harry Potter fans everywhere have been waiting on for years: 2018 will also be the year in which we finally get a Hogwarts-based game. That's right: soon, we'll be able to inhabit the world of a student at the beloved academy . . . all thanks to the forthcoming Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.

Games studio Jam City and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's Portkey Games (the unit devoted exclusively to experiences based on J.K. Rowling's wizarding world) are partnering to create the role-playing game for our mobile devices, and it will allow fans old and young to enter the world that we've so long experienced from the outside. And what exactly should we expect from the game? Well, it's still very early days, but according to the press release heralding the announcement:

"The new game lets Harry Potter fans live the dream of becoming a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry by creating their own character and progressing through their years at Hogwarts. Along the way, players will participate in all of the magical classes and activities they have come to love - like Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Dueling Club, and more. Most of the iconic professors from the Harry Potter stories reprise their roles in the game."

The release date for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has not yet been announced, but you can bet that the second we hear anything concrete, we'll be shouting it from the rooftops. And let's not forget that this new development means that we will now, officially, have TWO Harry Potter games coming our way next year. And that, my friends, is a very good reason to look forward to 2018.

A Rarely Seen Look at How Princess Diana Decorated Her Private Palace Quarters

Diana was famous for her fashion choices, but her taste in home decor is a little less well-known. When she first moved into Apartments 8 and 9 at Kensington Palace as a new bride, she was just 20 years old and she had three floors of rooms to decorate in the style of her choosing. However, the revamp had to suit the 17th century building as well as blend with the priceless antiques and oil paintings already displayed in the rooms. Diana turned to her mother for help, and she recommended her interior designer, Dudley Poplak, who worked with Diana to create a suite of rooms that combined traditional royal gravitas with Diana's fresh, fun, and feminine style. Take an up close look ahead.

Get Ready to Binge, Because Amazon Prime Is Now Available on Your Apple TV

The moment we've been waiting on for years is finally here: as of Dec. 6, Amazon Prime is finally available on our Apple TVs. Gone are the days of using the mirror function of your iPhone to stream Amazon's infinite catalog of movies and TV shows to your Apple TV, and here to stay is unlimited access to commercial-free binge-watching from Amazon's very own dedicated app on your home screen. Oh, and let's not forget that the addition of Amazon to the Apple TV catalog means that you can now use Siri to easily search through the massive library of Prime content and find exactly what it is you want to watch.

"Prime members can now access thousands of titles through the Prime Video app on Apple TV 4K and previous generations of Apple TV, including Prime Original Series and Movies such as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Big Sick, with additional titles coming to the service every month," Apple's official announcement reads. And we couldn't be more grateful for the timing; the news comes amid an ongoing battle between Amazon and Google that has left many of our other devices only playing YouTube or Prime, and now we can officially watch all the goodness of all the major content providers with one easy-to-use device.

As an added bonus, the Dec. 6 Apple TV update also comes with the ability to stream live sports via the TV app on your Apple devices. And if you'd rather just watch the good stuff, you can set up your notifications to tell you to tune in right as the action is happening - that's right, you can now keep watching the next episode of The Tick and not worry about missing the play of the year. Ain't technology grand?

Milana Vayntrub Opens Up About What It's Like to Star in an Interactive TV Show

Milana Vayntrub is probably best known as the amazingly quirky and oh-so-lovable Lily from those AT&T commercials, though you've also probably caught her as Sloane Sandburg in This Is Us or when she guest starred as Gilfoyle's girlfriend Tara in Silicon Valley. This year, however, she plays the lead role in That Moment When, a completely innovative and fascinating interactive TV show from streaming site Eko. "Jill is a hot mess. It's up to YOU to navigate through a series of awkward moments that either leave her somewhat dignified or even hot-messier," the series description reads, but what's amazing about the series is that it really is up to you to choose what happens - it's the very first of its kind to offer viewers the chance to decide what happens to the characters on the screen.

Vayntrub's Jill is, as advertised, a hot mess. But she's one hell of a relatable mess, and by the time you've chosen your own adventure throughout the series, it starts to feel like she's someone you know in real life - and that's a definite indicator of just how wonderful an actress she truly is. I spoke with Vayntrub by phone in early December to talk about her role in the show and the groundbreaking technology that drives the series from beginning to end.

POPSUGAR: How would you describe Eko as a platform?
Milana Vayntrub: Eko is an interactive platform, so they make shows that you can play. [laughter] Our show is a sitcom where you get to choose if a character marries the guy or breaks up with the guy. I mean, maybe not those exact examples, but you get to take initiative in the lives of your favorite characters.

POPSUGAR: And how did you first get involved with it?
MV: Sandeep [Parikh], who created the show, is one of my best friends. We used to be roommates. We perform together. So he's definitely one of my creative soulmates, and when he asked me, I was like, "Yeah, I would do anything that you wanted to do."

POPSUGAR: Tell me, in your own words, what That Moment When is.
MV: First of all, I'd say insane comedy. And insane because the situations are totally grounded and real. They're going to a party and not remembering somebody's name, or getting dumped at a restaurant (which has happened to me), or asking their parents for money. And then, ultimately, the whole thing leads to this big high school reunion, which is also something that we've all had to deal with or opted out of dealing with. I think if Jill was a little bit smarter, she probably would have also opted out because she was definitely setting herself up for disaster. But sometimes we learn the most from the most disastrous situation. So that was definitely Jill's calling. But ultimately, Jill's character - I think that she's somewhat of a version of me. She's maybe a little braver and a little louder, but I think the thing that makes her relatable is that she's in all of these situations that we've been in. She's not always the best person; she gets lonely and leans to the selfish. And I think that's what makes her appealing, because she's someone we all know.

There's one situation in the roommate episode where, if you play it a certain way - sidebar: that's also the most fun part of the show, that you can play it a different way and get a different set of jokes and situations every time - but in this one, the roommate character asks her if she thinks she's pretty, and because Jill can't lie, she just kind of nods uncomfortably . . . and I love that. I love that Jill is so blatantly obvious, and it's interesting to be on the side of Jill because you know when she's manipulating and you know what her tactics are, and it's kind of situations that you - like me, as a person, I would not be brave enough to explore, but it's nice doing it through this platform where everything is really playful, truly.

POPSUGAR: How much of what happens in the show is scripted and how much is improv? It's all so tight, it's hard to tell.
MV: Most of it is scripted, and then we improvise on top. There's always a script - and it was always stellar and totally carried itself - but because Sandeep and I are both improvisers and I have a problem where I can't not improvise, they cast other improvisers in the show so there were also a bunch of extra lines, too. But it doesn't feel like a mumblecore movie where it feels really improvised because they only have a loose outline. We had a much tighter script, and then we more improvised jokes rather than scenarios or full character pieces.

Finding and hiring improvisers was key, though. When you have people who are actively creating their own content, they know the dimensions to which they can improvise. They know when you've added so much content that now it's not editable. Knowing your outs and understanding, for example, not talking over other actors - that's a very basic improv tool that you get through practice, and you get also through watching and making your own stuff. Because a lot of the actors were also writers and creators, it was mostly really seamless to kind of support other people's jokes or to set them up. Also, I can't give enough credit to the editor, because that's really what makes improv work.

POPSUGAR: Do you feel like you created another level to Jill's character by doing improv on top of the script?
MV: I think I get closer to these characters when I can improvise. As an actor, you don't step into other people's words, but you get to add your own words, so you need to speak as a person because it gives the role character. It does become easier to understand them or to imagine over time. Especially when it worked. When the writers or the director laughs at your improv, that's just a sign to me as the actor that I'm hitting on the notes that they want for that character. That's the goal that I have. I like adding the improv because I'm also adding more to the project. I feel like I'm contributing and carrying my weight.

POPSUGAR: There are so many paths in the show. Did you have scripts for each and every potential path? Or was it all written and shot in pieces?
MV: For every six-minute episode, there's about 30 pages of script. It's usually there's a page per minute. So there's about 30 minutes of content for every episode even though you only see six. We would shoot multiple setups and different lines and different opportunities every time. And that's also a huge credit to our producer and director, who were able to organize all of those shots in their heads in ways that it's probably not easy.

POPSUGAR: Did you have favorite outcomes or did you just kind of approach it as completely separate scenes?
MV: You know when you are planning an important meeting or you're about to hang out with someone you want to impress? There are situations you play out in your head, if you're like, "If I get it this way, this might happen. If I get it this way, this might happen," and that's kind of - we got to play out all the situations. In a way, it was an acting exercise in not making a choice, which a lot of acting normally is figuring out what your character would do, and in this one, it's "Well, if this character could do it all." It's actually very freeing. But at the same time, I didn't fully understand how it comes together until the very end, and I'm so impressed with how it has, but now that I've seen it, I definitely have these routes that I hope people will take because I'd love to see - I want them to experience one take over another, but that's the past, man. [laughter]

POPSUGAR: Do you think you can experience the full story in just one viewing? Or do you need multiple variants?
MV: I hope that people watch it more than once and take entirely different experiences every time. Because all the jokes are worthwhile, and I think you'll also get to experience different sides of the characters depending on what choices you make, so I think it's worth it to go back more than once.

POPSUGAR: Which scene did you think was the most awkward scene you shot?
MV: There's a moment in episode seven where you have to dodge a creepy teacher from hitting on you at the reunion and that's - how many times have we tried to dodge an older man putting his hands on you when you don't want that? That is really relatable. In a way, I kind of hope there's a teaching moment there for the men that play, like, "Hey, this happens." You have to step into this woman's shoes and protect yourself from unwanted touching. It was an awkward thing to shoot, but also really professional, and then I got to have a conversation with that actor and we got to figure out where all of my boundaries are and where all of his boundaries are. That's not always what life is. But even when I play it now, I'm like, "Oh, f*ck, don't touch her. Don't touch her."

POPSUGAR: How would you compare the experience of doing the AT&T commercials to doing That Moment When?
MV: This was far more challenging because there's so many more lines. This was, like I said, 30 pages of dialogue a day - whereas the AT&T spots were one page of dialogue a day, and often, camera didn't have to move too much on the AT&T spot, so we kind of had a day of just shooting new 30-second spots in every different iteration. Like, I wish that in the AT&T spots, they showed all of the improvised versions that we came up with, but they're dead now and you'll never get to see that. The beauty of this is that you do get to explore all of the other improvised versions that we came up with. That's why movies have deleted scenes, and that's the beauty of digital reels that are dug up on the internet.

POPSUGAR: What did you like best about doing the show overall?
MV: One of the things that I think is really fun about this character, and something that I see coming up more in TV and film, is dynamic female characters who are not about being sexy and are not about being attractive or liked by men, and in fact, they may be downright unlikeable, just like human beings are in actuality, and I capitalize human beings. With shows like this, get to be this multidimensional mess of a human and experience this difficult and hilarious situation. So I'm really proud of how likable this - maybe not likable [laughter] but watchable - this otherwise mess of a person is. And we didn't ever have to worry about making her digestible. But, in fact, you get to play these situations for fun. Do you know what I mean? I think I kind of rambled there. It is totally liberating as an actor, and I think really fun to see as a viewer.

The 10 Most Popular Reddit AMAs of 2017

One of the best things about Reddit is the amount of exposure you can get to strong, important voices that perhaps don't have the proper platforms to get themselves heard. As a result, Reddit AMAs make for some of the most fascinating reading material available on the internet today – and, of course, finally give Redditors the chance to turn the tables on those who do have a platform to speak on and ask the questions that they may not have otherwise answered in a public setting.

Luckily for us, Reddit's gone ahead and pulled together the 10 most popular AMAs of this year as part of its annual year in review, and it makes for the best kind of after-the-fact reading when you're traveling or looking for something to lazily read as you relax on your time off. Ahead, from Bill Gates to a local weatherman to the man who played Goofy at Walt Disney World for more than 25 years, you'll find the best AMAs that Reddit had to offer in 2017.

The $280 King-Size Bed Frame That Actually Saved Me Money

My boyfriend and I have been sleeping in a double bed together for a few years now, and while I want to say it's nice that we get the chance to be close at night, it's really just a nightmare. We are both "sideways" sleepers and move around a lot, and a double bed does not give us enough room. At last, we just finally moved into an apartment that has a large enough bedroom for us to upgrade to a king-size bed. I had been waiting so long for this that I was beyond excited.

When I started shopping for beds and mattresses, I was shocked at the prices. Considering the only bed set I had ever owned was purchased by my parents, I didn't know how much it was going to cost me. I decided to to splurge on a nicer mattress in the hopes I would have it for a long time, so I wanted save on my headboard and box spring set. Little did I know that was going to cost me another $500 or so, at the cheapest.

A friend has recently turned me on to shopping for furniture on Amazon, so I decided to take a gamble and check the site. Lo and behold, I found this Zinus Upholstered Platform Bed ($282). The reviews helped me make my decision - it has over 2,100 reviews and a 4.6-star rating. As I was reading the reviews, I noticed people said because of the wooden slats on this frame that I didn't need to purchase a box spring. The mattress could get the same amount of support by the platform bed's wooden slats. This was another money-saving win that finally convinced me to purchase the bed. An added bonus: I live in a city and didn't want to deal with the burden of a delivery. Ordering on Amazon Prime, it was simply delivered to my door within two days.

The bed arrived in a thin box and all the parts (there surprisingly weren't many) showed up in an efficiently packed set. We were able to quickly put together the bed within 15 minutes and I was shocked by how easy it was. It made me realize that not all cheap furniture has to be a disaster to assemble.

I've had the bed for about four months now, and I love it. It works in perfect harmony with my mattress, and by not having to purchase a box spring, I actually saved money.

The Furbo Dog Camera Is a Must Have For the Good Pup in Your Life

Stories about dogs and cats are a dime a dozen, but what's not often talked about is just how hard it can be to leave your furry loved one behind. Be it for a weekend getaway or just a long day at the office, you'd be hard-pressed to find a single pet owner who doesn't find themselves wondering how their four-legged friend is doing while they're away. But with the Furbo Dog Camera ($199), there's a quick and easy way to check anytime, day or night, and to show your pet how much you care.

The market for products that seek to fill the pet-shaped hole in your away-from-home life is huge and ranges from Uber-like dog walking services to impromptu pet selfie-snapping devices. But Furbo does a whole bunch of things - from sending you alerts when there's sudden movement to letting you shower your dog with treats. That makes it a whole hell of a lot easier to avoid separation anxiety, with just a few taps on your phone. I spent a week using the Furbo, and while I fully acknowledge that I'm in the minority and use the dog-focused device to look after my cat, I can unequivocally say that it's made me feel a little more connected to him when I'm not there to tell him he's a good boy.

For starters, Furbo is, at heart, a camera - and as a result, the Furbo app provides you with a real-time feed of the inside of your home. Just place the (surprisingly tasteful) device where your pet would normally reside, and you're good to go. Then there's the fact that there's a two-way microphone attached to the Furbo, one that listens in for unexpected noises (namely, if the dog starts barking, you'll get an alert) but also enables you to talk to the animal and soothe them when they get bent out of shape.

Then there are the more fun aspects of the smart home device. The Furbo base holds up to 100 treats to dispense for your pet remotely, which can be handy if your pet has run out of range or if you're out past his or her dinner dinner. Plus, when you open the app, it takes you instantly to the camera view - enabling you to snap a shot of your pet at rest or a video of what's going on at home while you're away. It also works with a smart AI system to take selfies when your dog is looking directly at the camera and send alerts directly to your phone if you so choose, allowing you to know exactly what's up no matter where you are.

It's worth noting that the Furbo was created with dogs in mind; the device was crafted with the advice of trainers and experts in order to make it the perfect dog companion and provide you with the most useful information about your pet. But that doesn't mean that you can't, like me, use it for your cat - or that they won't be responsive to the treat-flinging surprise. I recorded a message that plays directly before the Furbo shoots out a set of cat treats, and in the week that I've had it, there hasn't been a single time that my cat hasn't leaped up with glee to interact with the device.

Overall, if peace of mind with your pets is what you're after, you can't beat the satisfaction that the Furbo provides. And with the launch of the second generation of the device, there's a better-than-ever camera and a smarter-than-ever system behind the Furbo - and for our money, it's worth the price.

The 7 Best Qualities of an INTJ Personality Type

Considering that INTJ personality types only make up two percent of the population (ladies, we're even more rare at 0.8 percent!), it must mean there's something special about us. Here are seven awesome qualities to start with that make INTJs stand out.

  1. They're confident. Humility isn't one of their strong suits, but they can't help it! INTJs assess the situation from every angle, so when they're right, they're really right. Since this personality type is highly intelligent and competent, they rarely experience self-doubt. And they're not self-assured without good reason - they can support their confidence with their proven abilities.
  2. They don't care what others think. Validation from others is the last thing they require. They look to logic and rationale, not people. And because INTJs dislike rules and tradition, they're not the type of people to follow the hottest trends. In fact, they consider many social conventions to be dumb and will question authority when necessary.
  3. They're independent. INTJs don't require a whole lot of attention because they're fully capable of taking care of themselves in the workplace and at home. They're low-maintenance partners and friends that don't rely on anyone else for any kind of support. They create their own paths rather than blindly obeying leaders and don't care in the least bit if nobody else wants to follow.
  4. They're (brutally) honest. INTJs most value authenticity and truth; making small talk and lies their biggest pet peeves. They'd rather give it to you straight than beat around the bush because that's what they'd want from you. This also makes them the go-to person for advice because they'll only provide their honest, objective opinion.
  5. They work their butts off. This personality type is known for their incredible work ethic, and it makes them extremely valuable in the workplace and beyond. Once they've committed to something, they dedicate all their time and energy to execute it in the most efficient and best way possible.
  6. They're open-minded. They can be stubborn in terms of sticking to their ways after weighing all the options, but they're not narrow-minded people. Because they're such rational thinkers, they consider various ideas and opinions before coming to a conclusion of their own. As long as your thoughts are supported by logic, INTJs are receptive to what you have to say. Prove them wrong and you'll really impress them.
  7. They're capable of anything. There's not much an INTJ can't do because they'll eventually figure it out and even excel at it. They're always up for a challenge and are truly capable of anything they set their mind to. As one of the most determined personalities, INTJs refuse to let anything stop them from being successful.

Meghan Markle Will Have to Graciously Wave "Buh-Bye" to These Outfits Before Becoming a Duchess

A List of Luxury Brands That Have Banned Fur (So Far)

Michael Kors made headlines in December 2017 after announcing the fashion house would no longer use animal fur in any of its products. According to the company's press release, "the fur-free policy will cover both Michael Kors and the recently acquired Jimmy Choo line." The move came after a meeting with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), and Michael Kors follows in the footsteps of other luxury retailers like Gucci who have gone fur-free. More and more brands are opting to adhere to ethical guidelines when it comes to sourcing products, and that's something we can all stand behind. Read on to see which major fashion houses have banned the use of fur, as we hope this list continues to grow in 2018.

This Bride Wore a Princess Wedding Gown, Then Stunned Everyone With a "Beyoncé" Bodysuit

For some brides, it takes fewer than three tries to find the right wedding dress. Rachel Katzman of Cuvee Beauty found hers on the second try - a Vera Wang tulle, long-sleeved creation. "I knew right away. I could envision myself walking down the aisle in the gown accompanied by a 26-inch long ponytail," Rachel said. "It truly was a fairy tale moment." The bride looked like a modern day princess, and though you'd expect her to continue with this fairy-tale theme, she had two more outfit changes in mind.

The second and third looks were less princess-y and more pop star. According to Rachel, she wanted her third look - a stunning gold bodysuit - to channel that "full-on Beyoncé moment." After having one custom made by Julien Macdonald, the bride was able to slip it on at the end of the night, complete with a Dolce & Gabbana crown, which she searched high and low for. "It was perfection, I felt like a pop star about to go perform on stage," she said. Judging from her photos, Rachel got everything she dreamed of for one of the most memorable weddings of the year. Read on to see more snaps from her big day.

Of Course Only Chanel Would Be Able to Make PVC Boots Look Ultrachic

Remember when Topshop tried to make clear-knee mom jeans a thing? While we scoffed at the idea at first, Chanel found a way to take the PVC trend to a whole new level. For the brand's 2018 collection, Karl Lagerfeld gave us an array of plastic hats, boots, gloves, and raincoats that were shockingly wearable. (Yes, you read that right.) The 18 Most Stunning Pieces of Jewelry Kate Middleton Has Received From the Royal Family

Sapphires and diamonds and pearls, oh my! From brand-new bling to centuries-old diamonds, in her first five years of marriage, the Duchess of Cambridge has already worn some impressive pieces of jewelry. Her new family has helped her build her very own collection of sparklers, but when it comes to really putting on the glitz, nothing beats having access to her grandmother-in-law's incredible and iconic collection.

We took a look at the top 18 pieces of jewelry Kate has received or borrowed from the royal family - so far.

This Michael Kors Bag Is the Boss-Lady Tote You Should've Been Carrying All Along

For power women with long agendas, carrying a clutch isn't always ideal. These ladies have important meetings to attend or busy schedules that don't allow them much downtime. You can bet they need a sophisticated satchel that packs a punch but has room to store portable chargers, wallets, sunglasses, tablets, or perhaps even paperwork.

We're looking to some of our favorite Hollywood boss ladies, who seemed to agree that in 2017, the Michael Kors Collection Bancroft tote (retailing from $990 to $1,390, depending on size) was a go-to. The design - which has a tall, square shape, is finished with a touch of hardware, and is even equipped with an exterior pocket - is certainly appealing and comes in so many different colorways. If Nicole Kidman, Amal Clooney, Kate Hudson, Blake Lively, and Gabrielle Union don't inspire you to pick up the exact iteration they chose, perhaps you'll prefer a similar style with the very same details.

Look Once, and Kaia Gerber's in PJs, Look Twice, and She's Wearing Jeans

Kaia Gerber stepped out with a friend for some shopping in Beverly Hills, and we had to do a double take when we took in her pants. "Is she wearing PJs?!" we asked ourselves upon first glance. Not that the boudoir look would be unusual for a model with such elevated taste. Not to mention, daytime pajamas is a trend so many women rock when running errands or heading to the airport.

Nevertheless, Kaia was wearing trousers - trousers that appear to be structured in fit and boast similar details to I.AM.GIA's Cobain Pant ($100). With the addition of Converse sneakers, a slashed tee, a simple duster, and silver hoops, Kaia was definitely taking the casual route, and boy would we love a pair of live-in slacks like these to do the same. Ahead, get inspired to shop with us.

The Special Meaning Behind Kate Middleton's Engagement Ring That No One Knew Until Now

Almost everyone knows that Kate Middleton's engagement ring used to belong to Prince William's mother, Princess Diana, but there's a lesser known story that's coming to light. It turns out there's a lot of history behind the gorgeous 12-carat sapphire and diamond ring that's valued at a staggering $50,000.

Princess Diana and Prince Charles chose the engagement ring from the official royal jeweler, Garrard, back in February 1981. While royal engagement rings were traditionally custom-made, this blue Ceylon sapphire ring was actually just a part of Garrard's regular retail collection. Another interesting story? It seems like Prince Charles was inspired by a royal heirloom while choosing the ring: a sapphire and diamond brooch that used to belong to Queen Victoria. Back in 1840, Prince Albert had commissioned the jeweler to create the brooch for his bride-to-be, Queen Victoria. It was then passed on to Queen Elizabeth, who's been known to wear it often.

During an interview with Vogue, Sara Prentice, Garrard's current creative director, revealed that, "It was said to be a strong influence on Prince Charles when he came to Garrard to purchase a ring for Lady Diana. He actually ended up setting a sapphire cluster ring for her, which was later given by Prince William to the Duchess of Cambridge on their engagement." After Diana tragically passed away, the ring was initially given to Prince Harry who then gave it to his brother William. Keep reading to have a look at both the engagement ring and the brooch.

If You Effing Suck at Applying False Lashes, Give These Ardell Ones a Try

When it comes to makeup, I consider myself pretty skilled. I can conceal and perfect my base, contour my cheeks to the gawds, and nail a damn good cat eye. But even though I've been able to master all the beauty basics, I f*cking suck at putting on fake lashes.

No matter how many tips or demonstrations I get from pros, I can never get false lashes right. I've tried holding a mirror beneath my face to carefully place strips along my lash line. I've used a variety of tools like tweezers and lash applicators but nearly poked my eyeballs into the abyss. Not to mention the countless number of cat eyes and shadow bases that I've destroyed with lash glue (RIP). So instead, I stick to lifting my fringe with good ol' mascara.

However, a few months ago, fellow POPSUGAR editor Brinton Parker tested magnetic lash accents, and I was intrigued. The innovative enhancement looked really natural and convincing on Brinton, but the lash novice in me couldn't imagine ever being able to apply magnetic pieces successfully, much less dropping over $50 on a set.

But magnetic lashes just became more accessible for beauty newbies and experts thanks to Ardell. The beloved brand is releasing a range of magnetic, no-glue lashes that you can pick up at the drugstore. The entire collection (which you can get January 2018 at CVS, Rite Aid, Sally Beauty, Target, Ulta, Walgreens, and Walmart for $14) comes in full strips and accents.

Because of my sticky history with applying faux strips, the lash dummy in me needed to put Ardell's new enhancements to the test. See how they cracked up ahead.

Some days, when you've got your Slip mask on and have to hit the snooze button approximately 12 times before you can even fathom getting out of bed, you're a Sleeping Beauty. Other times, you're a Maleficent - please no one talk to me when it's 3 p.m., I haven't had lunch yet, the Sweetgreen line is too long, and I'm the hangry-est girl you ever did see. So that's why this two-sided Disney beauty bag speaks to our soul - no matter your mood, you can rep the right character.

One half of this Sleeping Beauty & Maleficent Cosmetic Case ($39) features a sweetly sleepy Aurora. But, flip it over and you'll see Maleficent scheming with her raven hypeman Diaval.

Along with making a great gift for your friend who's known to switch emotions at the drop of a hat, this bag also totes a fancy backstory. It's part of the Disney Collection by Danielle Nicole, a line of accessories created by the quirky-chic designer.

This faux leather (meaning: vegan!) cosmetic carrier is adorned with glitter, and the characters are sewn on via embroidery. Plus it's got a little zipper compartment on the inside, which is perfect for stray makeup wipes.

Spooky or sweet, it's time you get yourself a bag that can do both.

Here's Why People Are Angry About Sia's MAC Collaboration

Sia, who's known for hiding her face with blunt wigs, isn't hiding when it comes to the MAC controversy she's currently embroiled in. On Dec. 3, MAC announced that the "Chandelier" singer is the new spokeswoman for Viva Glam, a red lipstick the brand releases every year to raise funds for AIDS research.

Previous Viva Glam collaborators have included Rihanna, Taraji P. Henson, and Ariana Grande. Fans were quick to point out that while Viva Glam contributes to an important cause, fighting AIDS, a certain business practice by MAC is, in their opinion, less laudable.

MAC, like any cosmetics company that wants to sell its products in China, must adhere to the country's strict animal testing regulations. This means that even though MAC is staunchly against animal testing stateside, it must pay for the Chinese government to perform it. This is a conundrum every major brand faces - stick to their ethical principles, or open their business up to a booming Chinese cosmetics market? Earlier this year, Nars opted for the latter, in a move that was criticized by Kat Von D.

Since Sia is a vegan, many fans criticized her decision to team up with MAC. As one person wrote in a comment to her Instagram announcement of the collaboration, "Sis you are an amazing woman but Mac????? Bad choice."

"Like M·A·C, I believe makeup shouldn't be tested on animals. M·A·C does not test on animals and is advocating change in countries like China where animal testing exists."

Another fan wrote, "I love everything this campaign stands for, but I can't stand behind it as animals were tortured to make this lipstick. Even if they were truly Cruelty-Free, they still put animal based products in their cosmetics; which means either way an animal was harmed. Be a voice for the animals and remove yourself from this as you are such a huge advocate for animals."

Others were more forgiving, with one person writing, "You can still love animals though and buy from Mac. Buying Mac makeup doesn't mean you're a bad person."

The backlash was enough to provoke a response from Sia, who took to Twitter to write, "Like M·A·C, I believe makeup shouldn't be tested on animals. M·A·C does not test on animals and is advocating change in countries like China where animal testing exists."

Sia then linked to MAC's official stance on the issue. The brand has teamed up with The Institute of In Vitro Sciences to help change global laws about cruelty-free testing. MAC helps to fund IIVS's International Outreach Program.

This dialogue is not easy to have - we want beauty enthusiasts everywhere to have access to all the best new products, but we don't want that to come at a price for cute little critters. If you would like to lend your support to a cruelty-free future, consider donating to PETA or the Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing.
