Here's Everything You Need to Know About the 3 Different Types of Flu Viruses Coming Your Way

One day you're feeling great, the next day you're coughing, and before you know it, you've got the flu virus - now would be the perfect time to knock on wood.

According to the Center For Disease Control, contracting the flu virus is most common during the Fall and Winter. Typically, flu activity begins to increase in October and peaks between December and February, although it can unfortunately last until May.

While there are four viruses in total - A, B, C, and D - only the first three affect humans. Flu D primarily affects cattle and is not known to infect people, so you don't need to bother yourself worrying about that one. As one of the most common illnesses, the CDC also reports that between 9.2 and 35.6 million people become ill from the flu each year in the US.

The flu is spread through droplets created whenever people sneeze, speak, or cough and can infect people in up to a six-foot radius. If you come into contact with a surface or object that has the flu virus on it, and then touch your mouth, nose, or eyes, you are also at risking of catching the flu. The virus can "live" for up to 48 hours depending on the surface - this fact has us washing our hands frequently during flu season.

To prevent catching the flu, experts advise getting a flu shot before the flu seasons begins. As always, avoid contact with sick people, and if you're sick, try limit your contact with those who are not ill. If you do have flu-like symptoms, the CDC recommends staying home for 24 hours after your fever breaks. Like you learned when you were a toddler, always cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze (sneeze and cough into your elbow), and wash your hands thoroughly and often.

Now it's time to learn the "A"s, "B"s, and "C"s of various types of flu.

On the Keto Diet and Headed to Olive Garden? Here's What You Should Order

Contrary to what you may have heard, there's more to Olive Garden than never ending pasta bowls and bottomless baskets of breadsticks. (Not that we're complaining.) That's good news for those on the keto diet - because if you're one of them, you already know that breadsticks aren't on the menu when you're trying to stay under 50 grams of carbs per day.

Olive Garden's nutrition information is available on the restaurant's website, making it super-simple to build a meal that will fit into your daily macros. There are a surprising number of keto-friendly dishes you can order straight off the menu, but we've pulled together tips for custom ordering a low-carb pasta bowl, too. Find what you're craving here, and pull up a seat - it's dinnertime:

  • If you're just here for the apps: An order of cheesy, herby stuffed mushrooms will cost you only 13 grams of carbs. If you don't have quite that much wiggle room left in the day, go for Olive Garden's Famous House Salad (sans croutons, and sub olive oil for the dressing), and you'll come in at under 10 grams of carbs for your entire meal.
  • If you're in the mood for chicken: The dinner portions of both the Chicken Piccata and the Chicken Margherita have only 12 and 13 grams of carbs, respectively. They're both served with the Parmesan Crusted Zucchini, which actually has the lowest carb count of any of Olive Garden's side dishes, and is higher in fat than the steamed vegetables.
  • If you'd prefer seafood: The Herb-Grilled Salmon has just under 10 grams of carbs and comes with a tasty parmesan garlic broccoli.
  • If you're feeling saucy: Take a little creative license with the menu, and try building your own pasta bowl, sans pasta. Very nicely ask your server for a pasta bowl with alfredo sauce and chicken or Italian sausage, but ask for it to be served over broccoli or garden veggies. You may get a few weird looks, but when you finally satisfy that craving, it won't matter.

This Trainer's 5-Move Stability Ball Workout Is What You Need For a Chiseled Core

As a personal trainer, I'm always asked what the best ab routine is and what I personally do to train my core. Like most things fitness, the answer is subjective since there's more than one way to strengthen and define the abdominal muscles. For my own ab workouts, I'm always switching it up. Sometimes I use resistance, sometimes I stick to the exercises I know will strengthen my core and help manage my lower-back pain, and other times I like to turn up the intensity and really challenge myself.

This five-move workout definitely falls under the intense category; it's challenging and will improve your stability and overall core strength. Before you go any further, I do not advise this workout for beginners. Instead, try this beginner routine first, and gradually work your way up to this stability ball workout.

The Workout

Perform the designated reps for each exercise, taking little to no rest in between exercises. Rest for one to two minutes and repeat the five-exercise circuit for a total of two rounds.

  • Stir the pot: 10 reps, clockwise and counterclockwise
  • Ball mountain climbers: 12 reps
  • Ball knee tucks: 12 reps
  • Ball pikes: 10 reps
  • Ball pass: 10 reps

Fill Out Your Jeans and Sculpt Your Booty With This 4-Move Bodyweight Workout

Some people seem genetically blessed to naturally have a round, full butt, and others have to work for it. Whether your goal is to fill out your favorite dress, completely transform your butt, or just tone it up, you're going to have to change your workout routine, focusing on building more muscle in your glutes (and you'll probably need to increase your daily caloric intake in order to sustain your gains).

As a trainer, a few of my favorite exercises for toning and sculpting a booty are lunges, hip thrusts, and split squats. If you're just beginning to strength train, don't have access to a gym, or want some extracurricular at-home sculpting work, continue reading.

The Workout

Since these moves will activate your glutes, there's no need to warm up in advance. Feel free to stretch and do mobility work beforehand if you'd like. You'll perform the moves in a circuit, taking little to no rest in between exercises. Once you complete a set, take two minutes of rest and then repeat for a total of four rounds.

  • Glute bridges: 12 reps
  • Reverse lunge with a knee drive: 12 reps on each leg
  • Single-leg glute bridges: 10 reps on each leg
  • Clamshells: 10 reps on each side

Serena Williams Sings Powerful Rendition of "I Touch Myself" For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Serena Williams, queen of the tennis court and our hearts, recently went out of her comfort zone during a project for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The 37-year-old athlete recorded her own rendition of the Divinyls' hit "I Touch Myself" to remind women to self-check regularly. She shared her powerful recording in a video of herself topless, which she shared on Instagram.

"Yes, this put me out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to do it because it's an issue that affects all women of all colors, all around the world. Early detection is key - it saves so many lives," Serena wrote in her video's caption. "I just hope this helps to remind women of that."

Serena's music video is part of the "I Touch Myself Project," supported by Berlei for Breast Cancer Network Australia. The project honors singer Chrissy Amphlett, the Divinyls' frontwoman, who passed away from the disease in 2013. In addition to her recording, Serena also teamed with Berlei to promote its "Chrissy" bras, which include a post-surgery option. We're grateful to Serena for this vulnerable yet beautiful reminder to check in with ourselves and put our health first.

J Lo's Trainer Shared 4 Moves You Should Do to Strengthen and Sculpt Your Lower Body

As much as I love being a trainer, I love learning different techniques and concepts from my peers. I had the opportunity to work out with Jennifer Lopez's trainer, David Kirsch, and he shared some of his go-to strengthening leg and booty exercises with me. It's no secret that J Lo has an amazing butt, and this four-move strength workout will help you get strong legs and a sculpted booty like J Lo's.

The Workout

David made it a point to make sure I was using the muscles in my glutes for each exercise instead of my quads, so be sure to incorporate a few glute-activating exercises into your warmup before you get started.

  • Goblet squat: three sets of 15 reps
  • Glider reverse lunge: three sets of 12 reps each leg
  • Glider side lunge: three sets of 10 reps each leg
  • Single-Leg glute bridge: three sets of 15 reps each leg

Don't forget to cool down and stretch afterward!

Curious to Try the Keto Diet? Here's Everything You Can and Cannot Eat

The keto diet has been one of the most talked-about health trends in the past year. The low-carb, high-fat diet induces a state of ketosis in your body, creating ketones that burn fat instead of the glucose converted from carbohydrates. In other words, the keto (short for ketogenic) diet forces your body to burn fat instead of sugar, which can lead to potential weight loss.

Just like any other diet, the keto diet has its pros and cons, and while it remains highly controversial among dietitians and nutritionists, some devotees have reported successful weight loss.

So which foods can you eat and which ones should you avoid? If you're curious about trying the keto diet, read through for a helpful guide on everything you can and can't eat.

We Talked to a Nutritionist to Get the Skinny on Drinking Water For Weight Loss

Back in 2016, a study went viral because it promised a simple, easy way to lose weight: simply drink 16 ounces of water before eating. Since then, the tip has found its way into nearly every article about weight loss. Obviously, being hydrated is important, but does it actually help you in your weight-loss efforts? POPSUGAR spoke to Maya Feller, MS, RD, CDN, CLC of Maya Feller Nutrition, a registered dietitian and nutritionist who works with patients who need weight management and those looking for nutritional management of diet-related chronic illnesses.

"There is some research that supports the statement that drinking water prior to a meal may result in a decrease in energy intake and therefore mild to moderate weight loss," Feller said, noting that other studies found that this effect is so variable from person to person that it's not reliable. "Is this something that I suggest for my patients? No," she added. "I would rather we work to identify internal hunger and satiety rather than preloading [the body] with water."

You should still strive to be adequately hydrated, regardless of your weight-loss goals. Dehydration can affect your mood and cause headaches and fatigue - not to mention, one study found a link between inadequate hydration and risk of obesity.

While the ideal daily water intake varies from person to person, "the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined men should aim for 125 ounces daily and women should aim for 91 ounces daily," said Feller. Factors like age, gender, physical activity, climate, and health status can cause your daily needs to fluctuate. The easiest way to tell if you're properly hydrated, Feller said, is to look at your urine. "Urine that is dark in color can be an indication that you haven't had enough water and conversely clear urine can be a sign that you are overhydrating. Rather, the ideal is a pale yellow," she said.

But here's the thing about plain water: it's really boring to drink. If you struggle to drink enough water throughout the day, Feller suggested unsweetened herbal tea as an alternative. You can also infuse water with herbs and fruit to make it more flavorful.

If your problem is forgetfulness, she recommended setting a reminder on your phone or computer, or keeping a reusable water bottle on your desk. If you go this route, just remember to wash the bottle - because it's dark and damp, it's a breeding ground for bacteria. And whatever you do, please (please!), don't drink it like this.

Dollar Bills From Head to Toe? Kim Kardashian Says, "Sure, Why Not?"

When most people dress up, they look like a million bucks, but when Kim Kardashian dresses up, she actually wears a million bucks. Seriously! On Thursday night, the reality star took the town wearing a money-covered trench coat from Jeremy Scott's 2001 Fall collection. She paired the coat with matching pointed-toe boots and a Judith Leiber gold sparkling purse embellished with a dollar sign. Sorry, Rich Uncle Pennybags, we've found the real Mrs. Monopoly.

While Kim recently has been opting for formfitting neon dresses, the flashy look came out for a special occasion. "What do you do when your friend sells her company for a couple billion? You wear a full money 'fit and throw her a party," she said on her Instagram Stories, flaunting her look. Kim was celebrating friend Anastasia Soare, the founder and CEO of makeup line Anastasia Beverly Hills (and creator of my favorite eyebrow pencil). It's unknown who she sold to, but in May, Forbes reported that Anastasia Beverly Hills "is worth at least $1.5 billion."

So, if by any chance you forgot that Kim - of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, KKW Beauty, and, of course, that unforgettable appearance in Fall Out Boy's "Thnks fr th Mmrs" music video - herself is, ahem, "rolling in the dough," she so kindly and not so subtly took the time to remind us. Read on to see the photos of Kim's iconic look, and if you listen closely, you can hear my bank account crying.

This Bride's Engagement Party Dress Was Even More Stunning Than the Lake Como Backdrop

To be honest, I wasn't that shocked to see that Isha Ambani's engagement party dress was something straight out of a fairy tale - after all, her father, Mukesh Ambani, is one of the richest men in the world. The heiress brought out Bollywood actors and actresses like Priyanka Chopra, who was spotted wearing a pair of trendy Dorateymur cracked-effect mules, to Lake Como, Italy.

For the Italian celebrations, Isha wore a beautiful Dolce & Gabbana gown covered in intricate embroidery. She accessorized her engagement party dress with a matching embellished headband and jewels. The groom, Anand Piramal, kept it traditional in a green sherwani. After the ring ceremony took place, Isha switched into yet another stunning dress: a lemon dress that hit below the knee. There Are 2 New Kinds of Funnel Cake Fries at Disneyland, So BRB While We Stuff Our Faces

First Disneyland had us fawning over its Fruity Pebbles funnel cake fries, and now there is not one but two new Fall flavors to lose your Mickey-loving mind over. Over at the epically named Award Wieners eatery in Disney California Adventure Park, you can now find seasonal twists on the popular fried fair treat: pumpkin spice funnel cake fries and cookies and cream funnel cake fries. The pumpkin spice funnel cake fries are dusted with sparkly pumpkin spice sugar then drizzled with a pumpkin spice sauce and topped with a heaping pile of pumpkin spice whipped cream. The cookies and cream funnel cake fries are topped with crushed Oreo cookies and whipped cream and then drizzled with chocolate sauce.

So are they as tasty as they look? We tried them so you don't have to (except in this case, you WILL want to), and here's what we think:

The fries are a little chewy, which is probably so they hold up under all the toppings and sauces, but I had hoped they would have a more light and airy texture like a true fair funnel cake. That said, they were still good and addictive. I'm not a huge pumpkin spice fan (I know, I know), so I preferred the cookies and cream, which were a chocolate-lover's dream. The pumpkin spice fries were more on the sweet than spicy side, but the sauce did have a distinct pumpkin pie flavor, and my friend who is a fan of pumpkin spice thought they were quite good. So you can't go wrong!

How to Make Guilt-Free Chicken Wings in an Instant Pot

I've been experimenting with my new Instant Pot, and it's been fun to explore all the different things it can do. It really is surprising how quickly it can cook certain meals with little mess and easy cleanup, too. When I tried out chicken wings, the meat was so tender - and even though there is the warmup and cooldown period, the actual pressure cook time was only five minutes.

This Instant Pot recipe is so easy, and the wings come out juicy and delicious. Bonus: the recipe I use for the buffalo sauce is adapted from an original Whole30 recipe, so these wings are guilt-free. (If you prefer regular buffalo sauce or store-bought, that will work too.)

So what is shoulder season exactly? It simply refers to the period between a destination's high and low seasons. The airline industry experiences the season as well, as carriers are striving to maintain passenger traffic in the off season. As a result, many airlines and hotels will lower their rates or offer special packages this time of year. So if you want to take advantage of this prime cost-saving travel season, now is the time to do it! Read on for various ways you can save some serious cash this Fall.

20 Minutes Is All You Need to Fall in Love With This White Chicken Chili Instant Pot Recipe

Who says chili always has to be made with ground beef and tomato sauce? There are so many varieties of chili you can make that can be just as delicious and possibly even lighter. I think white chicken is amazing to try in your chili. Not only is it a leaner cut of meat, but you can even play around with the flavor profile of the dish, too.

Even though this white chicken chili is a play on the American classic, by no means does that mean it is not as hearty and warm to the soul. It's packed with protein, fiber, and, of course, lots of spices. So the next time you want to cozy up to bowl of chili, try this one out, and maybe it'll be a new favorite of yours. Bring the whole family together for this Instant Pot recipe too; that's if you have it in your heart to share something so good.

Disneyland Has a Frozen Mexican Hot Chocolate, and It's OK to Freak Out Now

One of Disneyland's new seasonal treats during the park's Halloween and Día de los Muertos celebrations is a frozen Mexican hot chocolate, and it's seriously, dangerously delicious. Available at Rancho del Zocalo in the main Disneyland park, the $6 Frozen Abuelita and Horchata is offered alongside a Blended Horchata and is a festive twist on the traditional Spanish and Latin American spiced rice milk drink. This new frozen drink incorporates Abuelita, a Mexican-style cinnamon hot chocolate named after the Spanish word for "grandma," and is topped with the frozen horchata and a spiced whipped cream. It's a refreshing blend of sweet and spicy, and while it's pretty sweet, it's not cloying. In fact, of all the treats available during Halloween Time at Disneyland, this one was my favorite, especially on a warm Fall day in Anaheim!

30 Vibrant Photos That Will Inspire You to Take a Trip to Morocco

If you've never considered traveling to Morocco, this photographer's adventures will convince you otherwise. Raisa Zwart visited the North African country for a November wedding and captured her short trip. Before heading to Ourika, she spent a day and a half in Marrakech, which she described as "a place of contradictions: the crowded medina, the somewhat pushy guides, but also beautiful scenery, fairy-tale like alleys, and amazing food," and added, "The colors and light there are just stunning."

Raisa wandered around the medina of Marrakech - a medina is a historic quarter of a town - without any guides or direction. "It's also so much fun to just see what happens and where you'll end up," she said.

The beautiful palaces in Marrakech are a must see, specifically Palais Badii and Palais Bahia. In contrast to the older part of Marrakech, the city includes modern sections that have a distinctly different feel - both of which are worth the visit. She also suggests checking out Ourika, which is very close to Marrakech and lies within the Atlas Mountain range. "I would highly recommend combining a visit to Marrakech with one to Ourika - it's so beautiful and provides a nice, more quiet getaway from the city."

To make the most of your Moroccan experience, Raisa says to stay at a riad - "These traditional B&B-like places are like quiet oases in the Medina" - and to try the delicious North African dish tajine and to visit botanical garden Jardin Majorelle.

Peter and Mariska first met on the set of Law & Order: SVU, and they tied the knot in Santa Barbara, CA, in August 2004. They are also parents to three beautiful children, sons August and Andrew and daughter Amaya. Back in March, Peter opened up about the secret to their long-lasting marriage. "We're all just working through it. Whether it's a relationship that exists in the public eye to some degree or doesn't," Peter told ET. "Our son plays basketball and his coach says, 'Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals,' and I think when it comes to relationships, the fundamentals, in the end, are not that complicated."
