How to Create It Yourself

Ready to channel Jonerys? Here's what you'll need:

For Jon:

For Daenerys:

For the base of each costume, pick head-to-toe black layers, including simple black ankle boots. But let's be real: we're dealing with some of the best hair on Game of Thrones here, so priority number one is choosing the right wig or hairstyle for these characters. Need some faux scruff to channel Jon? Since he doesn't have a full-on beard, try drawing on some stubble using a brow pencil or brown eyeliner. Brooding expression optional.

What I Gained by Giving Up Shopping For 1 Whole Year

I have always been a bit of an impulsive spender. From the time I got my first credit card, I treated it like a second bank account. I used my monthly income to pay for things like rent, bills, groceries, etc. But the money always ran out before I got my next paycheck, so I used my credit cards to support my spending habits until my next paycheck arrived.

Over the years, I slowly began to accumulate debt. The balances on my credit cards would make me feel a little uncomfortable, so I was always grateful when the banks decided to increase the limits. But then I would continue to spend more and more, and eventually got to the point where I had to consolidate my debt so that I could afford the minimum monthly payment. Each time I went to the bank to ask for help, I honestly thought I was going to start moving in the right financial direction. It wasn't until I found myself completely maxed out that I had to start taking my spending habits more seriously. So I made a plan and paid off $30,000 (Canadian dollars) in two years - and then I went right back to spending.

It seemed harmless, at first. After two years of living on a tight budget, it just felt good to be able to say "yes" a little more often. Yes to coffee, yes to brunch, yes to dinner. Yes to day trips, weekends away, and vacations. And yes, I did a little more shopping. But I wasn't filling my home with stuff, and I can't say I have ever identified as a "shopaholic." Still, there's no doubt that I was an impulsive spender. After a year of living like this, where I was spending the majority of my income (usually 90-95 percent of it) and not feeling like I was getting any closer to reaching my financial goals, I knew there had to be another way. That's when I decided to do a shopping ban - for a year.

The most important thing I learned was to start saying "yes" to myself, and to what I really wanted out of life.

The rules seemed simple enough. For one year, I could buy consumables - the things I used on a daily and weekly basis, like groceries, toiletries, and gas for my car. The list of things I could not buy was a lot longer and included: clothes, shoes, accessories, magazines, electronics, furniture, and stuff for the house. I also decided that I wouldn't buy takeout coffee for a year because I was no longer happy with how much I was spending on it ($100/month). So yes, it seemed simple enough, and I will fast forward and say that I successfully completed the challenge. In fact, by the end of that year, I lived on an average of 51 percent of my income ($28,000), saved 31 percent ($17,000), and spent the other 18 percent ($10,000) on travel. But there was nothing about it that felt simple.

I quickly learned that my tendency to be impulsive was controlled by my emotions - and I had a lot of them. Going through a breakup taught me I was drawn to retail therapy so much more than I had realized. Seeing extremely low sale prices made me feel afraid that I might never see them that low again, and should, therefore, take advantage of them right away. And learning my parents were getting divorced made me wish I could substitute the pain and steady the unstable ground I was walking on by buying things that would make me feel better. In each of those moments, I had to hit pause, pay attention to the emotions that were triggering me, and change my reaction. It didn't feel simple. In fact, feeling wasn't easy at all.

But perhaps the most important thing I learned that year was to start saying "yes" to myself, and to what I really wanted out of life. Some people call this their "why," and it can be the reason you decide to work certain jobs or move to different places or travel to wherever you want to go. Yes, that meant not shopping for a year. But it wasn't about saying "no." I was saying "yes" to what I wanted and putting money toward it. My "why" included more time with my family, solo trips to places on my bucket list, and savings in the bank. Before that year, I had never had more than $2,000 in my savings account, so I never felt truly comfortable with my financial situation. Any life emergency would've wiped me out.

By the end of the year, I had enough money saved up to quit my job and start working for myself, traveled to more than 10 cities, and probably made at least that many trips back home to spend time with my family. I could never have done that if I had continued to spend every penny I earned.

Even though 29-year-old Cait Flanders dug herself out of $30,000 of debt, the allure of consumerism and special promotions delivered to her inbox every day pulled her right back into the fold of compulsively shopping. So she saw only one way out: challenging herself to stop. Her book The Year of Less is Flanders' personal and compelling story of how she stopped compulsively shopping for a year.

Doing Ab Workouts but Not Losing Belly Fat? A Trainer Explains Why - and How to Fix It

If you've been doing ab workouts to no avail with the hopes of losing subcutaneous fat around your middle, you may want to think again. Often, people mistakenly believe that doing planks, crunches, and other ab exercises are what they need in order to flatten their stomachs, and the truth is: ab workouts don't burn belly fat. Exercises like mountain climbers and leg lifts are great if you want to strengthen your core, but if your goal is to reduce the fat around your belly, lower your body fat percentage, and maybe even get a six-pack, ab workouts alone won't cut it.

How to Lose Belly Fat

Instead of focusing on spot reduction, I think the best way to approach losing stomach fat, and fat in general, is by consistently training in the zone that allows you to burn the most fat. Bear with me. I know an answer like this can seem vague and frustrating, but the style of training that works for you to get rid of stomach fat may not work for someone else. You've probably heard that doing high-intensity workouts is the best way to burn fat. If you take anything away from this post, let it be that the best way to lose fat isn't one size fits all.

I agree that high-intensity workouts like sprinting that use multiple muscle groups at once are great in general. But, in order to find out what workout is best for you and your goals, consider getting a specialized test like the FatMax Protocol test. This test measures fat oxidation at different exercise intensities - basically, the exercise intensity where your body optimally burns the most fat. From there, you can work with an exercise physiologist or a certified trainer to design a training program that is best for you.

Unfortunately, this test is more than likely not offered at your primary care physician's office or at local gyms and fitness studios. Depending on where you live, you may be able to find a wellness company that offers the FatMax test and other body composition assessments. You can also contact local hospitals to see if they offer these specialized assessments. The PhysioLab, at Mount Sinai in NYC, administers the test for $450. This price may vary depending on your location and who is administering the test. I haven't had the opportunity to get this test done, but I definitely think it's worth the investment to figure out the best workouts for fat loss, your body, and your goals.

Weightlifting Can Help You Lose Fat

If you're unable to do the FatMax Protocol test because it's not available in your area or feels too pricey, I recommend incorporating weightlifting into your workout routine. I think lifting weights is one of the best ways to decrease your body fat, while maintaining and building lean muscle. If you're new to strength training, you can get started with this beginner's program. If you're more experienced with lifting weights, I suggest implementing more compound exercises - exercises that work larger muscles groups, and as a result, cause you to burn more calories and fat - into your routine. A few of my go-to compound exercises are: deadlifts, pull-ups, lunges, and renegade rows.

You'll Want to Check Your Diet

Now that you have an idea on how you should be training, it's time to discuss your nutrition. You don't have to be extreme and do the low-carb high-fat keto diet, but I do recommend minimizing or even completely cutting out alcohol, sugars, and processed foods. Similar to there being no one perfect workout to lose fat, there's not one perfect diet. It may take a lot of trial and error to figure out what works best for you, and I highly recommend working with a registered dietitian to devise a nutritional program that makes sense for your lifestyle and goals.

I Lost (and Kept Off) 70 Pounds by Doing These 3 Things

One day I'm gonna tell my kids the story about how I ran two marathons in two different countries in one week, and (hopefully) they'll think I'm a badass.

In life, we go through a lot of major milestones worth celebrating. For me, graduating college was pretty epic. So was landing my first NY big-girl job. Moving out of my mom's house - also monumental. Paying my first $1,175 rent bill on my own - flat out amazing for a girl-turned-woman who used to deliver her college newspaper for $20 a day. But my biggest accomplishment to date? Losing - and keeping off - 70 pounds.

I remember the night my journey started like it was yesterday. I was sitting in my college dorm room working on statistics homework when I spotted it out of the corner of my eye. The silver digital scale resting below my bed in the same place I stashed it on move-in day. At the time, it wasn't that I didn't know that I had a weight issue. I knew I wasn't skinny. I never liked to look at photos of myself. But until that point, I had never felt the need to confront my weight head on. As the homework procrastination grew, my curiosity piqued.

So I did it. I pulled the scale out from under my bed and tapped it with my big toe. I stepped on. Those three seconds felt like three hours as I stood there waiting to be confronted with the truth. And then it happened. I was mortified. Momentarily frozen. How did I get here? I wondered, as tears instantly welled up in my eyes - momentarily obscuring the number on the scale. Two-hundred and four pounds.

I had to do something. Without hesitation, I walked over to the dresser and pulled out a high school volleyball sweatshirt. After tripping over myself pulling on a pair of black cotton leggings, I put on sneakers and left my dorm room and headed for the staircase. Breath labored, pulse high, I flung open the exit door.

I took off down the long stretch of road into the night alongside my dorm, sprinting as fast as my legs could carry me. Within 30 seconds, I collapsed onto the grass, overtaken with emotion. How did I get here? I asked myself again. It hit me like daggers in my 18-year-old stomach. Two-hundred and four pounds. I replayed the numbers on that small, dusty screen over and over in my head. It didn't take long, lying there, before I knew what I had to do. I knew I had to make a change. I knew I had to lose weight. I knew I couldn't live like that anymore. In that moment, I promised myself I wouldn't.

Seven years later, a lot has happened since that night lying in the grass freshman year. There was a point when I joined Weight Watchers and went to weekly meetings, sometimes with my mom. I picked up running and completed my first half-marathon. I trained for and ran a full marathon. And another. And another. And then I was crazy enough to run another two marathons on different continents within six days, something 204-pound Emily would've never in her wildest dreams ever fathomed.

Still, as a woman in my late 20s, I'm well aware that maintaining this weight loss and an active, healthy lifestyle is a daily commitment. I know that my journey is lifelong. Here are the three biggest lessons I learned that helped me to lose 70 pounds:

1. Never Completely Eliminate Anything

Fad diets almost all have one thing in common: you have to get rid of something. Eliminating things like french fries or bread entirely just made me want them more. For me, the guilt that surrounded the consumption of these "bad" foods was so difficult to manage. Instead of labeling these troublesome foods as "bad," I learned about proper portion sizes. And although it's not always easy to stop at a half-cup serving of gelato, I've come to appreciate and savor every last bite.

2. Find an Activity That Makes You Feel Happy

I can't even begin to estimate how many days I spent logging 45 minutes on an elliptical overlooking the campus pool. Despite staring at the shirtless guys swimming laps, I dreaded it. I hated going to the gym. To be real, there wasn't a single activity that I loved doing. Exercise wasn't my thing.

Then, I started running outside. At first, I most definitely did not love it. At the time, I worked at an overnight Summer camp without any fitness equipment. Running seemed like my only option. Every day for the entire Summer, I laced up, ran a single mile, and then went on with my day. Soon, that single mile became two miles. Then a 5K, and, well, you get the picture.

Running has become my release. When I'm pounding pavement, I'm happy. I feel comfortable. I blast beats from my Apple Music playlist and decompress. If you don't love what you do, you won't keep it up. Find an activity that feels true to who you are, and know that you don't have to be the best at it. You just have to like doing it.

3. Surround Yourself With a Solid Support System

It's one thing to go out on a Saturday afternoon with girlfriends to an Insta-worthy spot to snag a few ice cream cones. It's another thing to surround yourself with "friends" who give you crap for not wanting to binge drink come Friday night. Excessive calories aside, there's nothing wrong with not wanting to be hungover for your early morning workout class the next day. Find the people who support you in your personal health goals. While your best friends may not want to crush sprints on the treadmill next to you, they'll understand that it's a part of your life that's important.

If Squats Are One of Your Favorite Things Ever, These Memes Will Speak to You

You're one of those people whose favorite day of the week is squat day. And your second favorite day? The day after squat day, of course. Because even though you need help walking down stairs and the fear of sitting on the toilet and not being able to stand back up is real, all that pain is worth it because squatting makes you feel so strong and badass! And that's why you're going to love these memes, all about your favorite thing - squats!

These Dermatologists Reveal Whether or Not Your Biotin Supplements Are a Waste of Money

So you've noticed your hair is looking thinner and duller, and your nails short and brittle and you need a beauty SOS. You've probably read about the miracle wonder that is biotin; beauty gurus and influencers alike tout the miracle properties of the supplement that's supposed to transform your hair and nails. But is it too good to be true?

"Biotin is important for energy production and known to improve hair health," board-certified NYC dermatologist Debra Jaliman, MD, assistant professor of dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, told POPSUGAR. "Many enzymes need biotin to function properly; biotin also helps keeps nails and skin healthy." She added it can help nails and hair grow. However, she said that taking biotin won't negate a bad diet - overall nutrition is important for healthy hair and nails.

"Hair thrives on protein, iron, zinc, and vitamin B12. If you are not getting enough nutrients from your diet, supplements can increase low levels," dermatologist Dendy Engelman, MD, explained. "These nutrients help support hair structure, growth, breakdown carbs and fats, moisturize the scalp, and distribute oxygen to the cells."

Although it may be beneficial for people who are low in biotin, the results might not be as noticeable for those who already have adequate levels of biotin. Still, taking it is worth a try; Dr. Jaliman said it has minimal side effects and anyone can take it.

Of course, you should always check with your doctor before starting a new supplement, but Dr. Engelman recommends starting with 500 mcg daily. If you are looking to strengthen your hair and nails, it's worth a shot!

Danielle Lost 50 Pounds in Just Over 1 Year Without Counting Calories or Carbs

I Went Low-Carb For 3 Weeks, and These 3 Mistakes Lead to Weight Gain

Over the Summer, when my bloating issues got out of control, both a naturopath and an osteopath suggested I give up sugar, fruit, and flour for one week: no white sugar, no natural sugars like maple syrup, agave, honey or stevia, no artificial sweeteners, no fresh or dried fruit, and no flour. Sugar cravings hit me hard, but by then end of the seven days, my bloating was completely gone.

I decided to keep going and took it a step further, going low-carb and limiting all grains and high-carb veggies like potatoes and corn. Honestly, I wanted to see what all the hype was about going low-carb, and to see if it'd help with my sugar cravings, since those were pretty high still, even though I ditched fruit, sugar, and flour.

Although my belly was less puffy and leaner, I was shocked when I stepped on the scale. I had gained weight by the end of those 21 days. And after some investigating, I know the reason why and will share what I discovered.

Every Single Guest Dressed as a Disney Character at This Picture-Perfect Wedding

I don't care if your heart is as frozen as Elsa's castle - it's about to melt into a puddle of emotions when you see the lengths this couple went to to throw their ultimate Disney dream wedding. Garrett and Jason, aka Woody and Buzz, went all out with their Disney-themed big day, and no detail was ignored. The best part? Every single guest (including their dog) dressed in costume as a different Disney character. Honestly, we can't get over it. And coming in at a close second in our books is the themed tablescapes, each based on a different Disney movie (complete with VHS tape).

Garrett and Jason met at a friend's New Year's Eve party, and what they didn't know until their wedding day was that Garrett's parents and grandparents also met on New Year's Eve! It was meant to be. Here's what else Jason told us about their big Disney day. See all the photos (including their sweet wedding video!) ahead!

POPSUGAR: What was your favorite decorative or event detail of the day?

Jason: Probably the table decorations we made by hand. We obsessed over every detail for the past year. We used those classic Disney VHS clamshells to signify the table name and theme. We chose the VHS clamshells since we both had them and watched them so much they got wore out when we were kids. For the newer movies that were never released on VHS (such as Moana and Up), I designed the VHS covers for them. Each table had elements from the movie; it looked like the movie came to life on the table. There was at least one light-up or glow-in-the-dark element at each table to make it extra magical.

Another one of our favorite parts is our choreographed first dance. It was arranged and instructed by our great friend Alesha Bales, who weaved together a jazz version of "You've Got a Friend in Me" with a Spanish version of the song. She mixed elements from foxtrot, salsa, tango, and paso doble into the dance.

POPSUGAR: What was the most emotional moment of the day?

Jason: The ceremony, because Garrett cried, and he never does that! During our ceremony we had a mixing of the mai tai to signify the good, the bad, and all that comes with a marriage. We went with a mai tai since we love tiki drinks and we travel the country visiting tiki bars. The mai tai was also our signature drink for the wedding.

POPSUGAR: What inspired the overall look and theme of the wedding?

Jason: We had both been fans of Disney and Disney parks growing up. Garrett would frequently visit his friends who worked in the park, while I was inspired by the artists and Imagineers who influenced me to pursue a career in graphic design. But it wasn't until our first trip together to Disneyland that the love for Disney became more of an obsession.

POPSUGAR: Why did you decide to do Disney costumes?

Jason: We love Halloween, and we throw an elaborate themed party every year. We also enjoy Disneybounding and cosplay at Comic-Con. Family and friends must have thought we were crazy to have a costume wedding in the middle of August. But we were happily surprised that most all of our guests were really into it and dressed for the occasion, even our dog!

Garrett wanted to dress as Buzz and Woody because "You've Got a Friend in Me" is one of his favorite Disney songs, and he has known for a long time he wanted that to be the song he danced to as his first dance. So, of course, I had to be Sheriff Woody. Both characters are reminiscent of each of our personalities.

Will Carnage Appear in Venom? The Answer Is Complicated

The road to the release of Sony's Venom film has been a long and winding one. In fact, it's been over a decade in the making. Sony first began planning for a standalone Venom film after the character appeared in 2007's Spider-Man 3. That's right: Venom has been in development since Tobey Maguire played Peter Parker! After two reboots of the Spider-Man universe, Venom's time has finally come, with a solo movie about the journalist Eddie Brock who is fused with an alien symbiote. But which other characters from the Spider-Man universe will appear in the movie? It's been confirmed that Spider-Man himself will not appear, so the focus has shifted to another potential character: Carnage.

For the uninitiated, Carnage - the alter ego of Cletus Kasady - is a longtime enemy of Venom's in Marvel comics. Like Venom himself, Carnage gets his powers from a powerful symbiote from a species that once was benevolent but has been corrupted. For several of the years that Venom was in development at Sony, Carnage was openly referred to as the villain of the movie; at one point, the film's working title was Venom: Carnage. By the time the 2018 movie was underway, however, Carnage seemed to have all but disappeared from the storyline. In his place is Riz Ahmed's Riot (below), a lesser-known symbiote villain, and Carnage is nowhere to be found in the cast.

If you were hoping Carnage would appear, though, don't lose hope just yet! There are a couple of theories that suggest Carnage will show up after all. One theory suggests that Ahmed's Riot is actually a red herring and will be revealed to be Carnage after all. Another suggests that Woody Harrelson's character, who is unnamed and slated to appear just in a cameo role that will set up future appearances, will turn out to be Carnage (or a pre-Carnage Cletus Kasady). This one makes a lot of sense since Carnage is Venom's ultimate villain, a sort of evil mirror image of the morally complicated Venom, so teasing him for the future seems like a smarter move than using him in the very first movie of a planned series.

Whatever the plan, it's pretty likely that Carnage will appear at some point in the new Sony/Marvel universe; it's just a matter of when and how.

Trying Weight Watchers? Here's a Full Week of Meals to Get You Started

When you start a new diet or healthy lifestyle, it can be so hard to figure out exactly what to eat day in and day out. And if you're anything like me, you can also fall into a rut of eating the same thing every day - once I've figured out the nutritional information for a dish, it's easier to keep eating it than to spend time researching something new.

Fortunately, when it comes to Weight Watchers, you can easily use the app to scan the barcode of a package to get the SmartPoints value. There's also the handy rule of thumb that fruits and vegetables are 0 SmartPoints. Over time you'll learn the SmartPoints values of foods you eat again and again and be able to rack up your daily totals in your head. Until then, we've put together a week of meals and snacks to get you started.

Using a daily SmartPoints base of 25, this meal plan includes three meals and a snack for seven days. You can find all the recipes you'll need here, and if your SmartPoints daily base is less or more than 25, there's a little wiggle room each day to add an extra snack or take something out.

This Día de los Muertos Wedding Shoot Was Inspired by a Mexican Artist

To celebrate her models' Latinx heritage and culture, photographer Christine Barker chose to orchestrate a gorgeous Día de los Muertos-styled wedding shoot at California's Santa Ana Train Depot. Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday when friends and family gather to honor loved ones who have passed away.

This beautiful shoot was inspired by a 1910 illustration of "La Catrina" by Mexican artist Jose Guadalupe Posada. In fact, if you take a closer look at the invitation, you'll see that it is for Catrina and Jose. The women in the shoot are wearing gorgeous vintage-inspired gowns, and the bride carries a hand-crafted bouquet accentuated with a rosary and black feathers. The groom is wearing a thrifted coat with hand-painted skeleton detailing. Fun fact: that coat was originally worn by Daniel Craig in the James Bond movie Spectre, which explains the impeccable tailoring!

"From the precise makeup to the beautiful rosary on the bouquet to the intricately decorated Calavera on the top of the gorgeous cake, no detail was overlooked," said Barker. The huge effort clearly paid off for this beautiful shoot - keep reading to see the amazing pictures!

Outlander: Why Stephen Bonnet Is 1 of the Worst Villains in the Series

Image Source: Getty / David M Benett

When Outlander returns this Fall with its fourth season, a new character is joining the crew in the form of Stephen Bonnet, played by Downton Abbey alum Ed Speleers. Book readers know that Bonnet is a villain of the darkest kind, and he is about to wreak havoc on the Frasers' lives for several years to come.

But for you non-book-readers who are dying to know how the character plays out, we're here with a guide to the character in the upcoming books/seasons.

Warning: spoilers from books four through six below!

Drums of Autumn

When season four picks up, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) are in Charleston, SC, on their way to a North Carolina plantation owned by Jamie's Aunt Jocasta (Maria Doyle Kennedy). They pause in Charleston to bear witness to the hanging of one of Jamie's men from Ardsmuir Prison so that he won't be alone and can have a proper burial afterward.

But another man is set to be hanged alongside Jamie's friend, and it's here we meet Bonnet. He escapes the gallows and later begs Jamie and his group to help him escape the authorities. Jamie does so, and it's a decision that comes back to haunt him.

First, Bonnet and some fellow criminals rob Jamie and Claire, getting away with Claire's gold wedding ring from her marriage to Frank. Much later, after Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin) have traveled back to 1760s America, Bonnet rapes Brianna when she tries to get her mother's ring back from him. He does give her the ring as "payment" for the rape, but the fallout is that, when Brianna discovers she is pregnant, she doesn't know for sure whether the father is Bonnet or Roger.

Bonnet thwarts death once more in this book when he escapes execution at Cross Creek. Brianna had come there to confront her attacker before his death and ended up revealing that he might be her baby's father. Before he flees for good (in this book at least), Bonnet gives Brianna a diamond to help her care for the baby, which Brianna names Jeremiah (nickname Jemmy) after Roger's father. Roger may or may not be Jemmy's biological father, but he is the man raising Jemmy, so he's the father either way.

The Fiery Cross

Despite Brianna having come to terms with her rape, her father is another story. He is still trying to track down her rapist and make him pay for what he did to Brianna. Roger is supportive of Jamie's plan and asks his father-in-law to train him in fighting so that he may be the one to kill Bonnet.

We don't see the odious man for a while, but eventually he comes upon Claire and young Jemmy and thinks that the young boy is his son. Bonnet reveals that he has been trying to steal gold that is supposedly hidden away on Jocasta's plantation and now he intends to take Jemmy. But before he can, Brianna shoots him in the groin and he flees once again.

A Breath of Snow and Ashes

It is now mid-1773 and the first time we see Bonnet in this book, he is once again trying to get close to Jemmy. He has also become somewhat obsessed with Brianna, eventually having her kidnapped and taken aboard his ship bound for Ocracoke, an island off the coast of North Carolina.

He doesn't attack her again because she's pregnant, but he does make her sleep with him in his bed and reveals some of his personal fears to her. Still, he's a true villain at heart, as he tries to sell Brianna to the highest bidder. Fortunately, her family arrives and rescues her.

Brianna chooses to hand Bonnet over to the authorities rather than dispense punishment herself. He is found guilty and sentenced to death by drowning, which involves tying him to a post in a harbor as the tide comes in. But before he can be completely submerged, Brianna shows him a bit of mercy and shoots Bonnet in the head.

Needless to say, over the next three Outlander seasons, Stephen Bonnet is about to become quite the antagonist for the Fraser clan.

Outlander's fourth season premieres Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Starz.

You're Not Imagining Things; Lucas Hedges Is Everywhere Right Now

We were so thrilled when we heard that Garrard Conley's memoir Boy Erased was getting a big-screen adaptation written and directed by Joel Edgerton. The story follows Jared, a teenager living in a small Arkansas town who is unwillingly outed to his devout Baptist parents and subsequently must attend a gay conversion therapy program through his church. It's a compelling story that's already been getting a ton of buzz, and we have been counting down the days until its Nov. 2 release.

That excitement quadrupled when we heard the power players who would head up the cast. Ever since Nicole Kidman knocked our socks off in Big Little Lies, we've been patiently waiting for more opportunities to see her own the theater. She has been cast as Nancy, Jared's mother, and we can hear the Oscar buzz already. Then, we have New Zealander Russell Crowe depicting Jared's pastor father, Marshall. Even Edgerton himself has a role in the film, playing the head therapist at the gay conversion therapy program. The true star, however, is Lucas Hedges, who plays the intricate character of Jared as he navigates this arduous, painful time in his life.

We've been fans of Hedges for a while now, and his roster proves that he is a truly talented young actor. It was back in a middle-school play that the casting director for Moonrise Kingdom (2012) spotted the young Hedges and gave him his start with the role of Redford. After that, Hedges went on to win roles in Arthur Newman, Labor Day, The Zero Theorem, and The Grand Budapest Hotel. He earned a lot of attention for his role as Jeremey Renner's son in the film adaptation of Nick Schou's book Kill the Messenger. Then in 2015, he was cast as Ritchie Joanou opposite Peter Sarsgaard, Thandie Newton, Uma Thurman, and Zachary Quinto in the television miniseries The Slap.

But it was his role in Kenneth Lonergan's 2016 film Manchester by the Sea that truly introduced audiences to Hedges's unimaginable talent. He played Patrick Chandler, the nephew of Casey Affleck's character, who must grapple with his father's sudden death and the complicated behavior of his new guardian. For this role, he was nominated for an Academy Award. It's hard to believe that things for Hedges could get any better than that, but 2017 proved to be his year. He played Danny O'Neill in one of our favorite films of that year, Lady Bird, in addition to starring as Frances McDormand's son in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. It's almost as if Hedges is a magnet for Academy Award-nominated films (take note, Martin Scorsese.)

On top of his role in Boy Erased, Hedges will also star opposite Julia Roberts in Ben Is Back this year (another role already getting a ton of buzz) and in Mid90s, a film written and directed by Jonah Hill. He will also make his first Broadway appearance in The Waverly Gallery. And if all that doesn't seem like enough, he's starring in a Shia LaBeouf film called Honey Boy in the near future.

31 Times the Queen Was So Over It and She Didn't Care Who Knew

Queen Elizabeth II makes hundreds of public appearances each year, and she's been doing it for over 66 years - the longest of any British monarch. That's a whole lot of hand shaking and smiling for photo ops! Enough to make anyone, even the Queen of England, a little grumpy. Sure, she smiles kindly most of the time - and has some pretty hilarious expressions - but there are moments when her majesty just can't fake it with a sparkly grin. Can you blame her? I'd be frowning, too, if I still didn't get to retire at 92 years old. And based on her increased workload so far this year, she's not slowing down one bit. Which means there are likely even more unamused faces to come. Until then, take a look at her least thrilled looks from the past.

The Queen May Look Short, but She's Probably Taller Than You Think

The world looks up to Queen Elizabeth II as the longest-reigning monarch in British history. But even with that impressive title, she's certainly not "above" everyone else. At just 5'4" tall, the queen is actually pretty average, even short by some standards.

While her majesty is on par with the average woman in the United States, she falls below the average European woman, who stands at 5'6". In her immediate family, the queen is among the shortest (not counting Prince George!). And if she appears heads below her own husband, children, and grandchildren, it's because most of them have more than a few inches on her. When coupled with the brightly colored outfits she prefers, the height disparity is even more pronounced in photos from official events.

But the queen's measurements don't detract from her important role as head of state in 16 commonwealth countries. In fact, one could argue that her stature is partly what makes her one of the most recognizable figures in the world. Plus, when everyone else has to bow down to you, does it really matter where you fall on the measuring stick?
