If you've seen the previous two Purge movies, then you know the general gist of what you're about to see in the trailer for The Purge: Election Year. The horror franchise is taking advantage of the fact that 2016 is an election year by releasing a politically themed version of its tried formula on July 1, ahead of the Independence Day holiday. Elizabeth Mitchell is starring as a politician running on a platform that includes getting rid of The Purge for good. She has firsthand experience; 15 years earlier, her entire family was killed on a Purge night. If the previous movies creeped you out, this trailer will scare your pants off.
