Kristen Bell Is About to Tell You How to Have "The Talk" With Your Kids

If you thought you could wait until your kids were approaching their teen years to have "The Talk," you're wrong. Parents need to teach their children - no matter how young - the importance of wearing protection.

Sun protection, that is.

Just like the other "Talk," it's not necessarily fun to speak to toddlers about SPF and the importance of hats and sunglasses, but when just a few sunburns as a child - even only one or two bad bouts - nearly doubles their risk of skin cancer, it's also not something parents can avoid.

Kristen Bell, a mom of two, understands how awkward it can be to talk to kids about the dangers of sun exposure without resorting to scare tactics ("The sun can kill you! On average, 354 Americans are diagnosed with skin cancer every hour? Do you want to be a statistic?! DO YOU?!").

In this exclusive video, Bell - the brand ambassador for Neutrogena, which is working to change the conversations families have about sun protection - role-plays different ways to broach the important subject with a teddy bear but reveals that it's vitally important to do more than just talk.

Following extensive research, the skin care company learned that when parents model behavior for kids at an early age, that behavior becomes a lifelong habit - so they launched the #MimicMommy campaign with setting a good example in mind.

"What am I doing?" Kristen innocently asks the teddy bear as she lotions up. "Oh, I'm just putting on my sunscreen. You know, like Mommy does every morning."
