Katy Perry Kissed This 19-Year-Old American Idol Contestant, and People Have a Lot of Feelings
Katy Perry shared a quick kiss with a 19-year-old contestant on a recent episode of American Idol, and it has a lot of people talking. Benjamin Glaze auditioned in front of the three judges, and after chatting about the store where he works and the "cute girls" who come by, Luke Bryan joked, "Have you kissed a girl and liked it?" Benjamin replied, "No, I've never been in a relationship."
In true reality-TV fashion, Katy then urged the teen to come forward and put on a bit of a show. She motioned for him to give her a kiss on the cheek, and he did, blushing a little. "You didn't even make the smush sound!" Katy laughed. The teen then said, "Let me start over," and when he went to kiss her cheek, she turned her face and pecked him on the lips. American Idol Instagrammed the moment and captioned the photo, "He kissed @katyperry and he liked it."
The exchange has gotten mixed reactions from viewers, with some calling it a sweet and funny smooch, and others calling Katy out for being too aggressive and robbing Benjamin of his first kiss. One Instagram comment reads, "Imagine a 34-year-old male judge doing that to a 19-year-old female contestant," and another says, "It's kind of cute."
