Netflix Hasn't Renewed On My Block For Season 2 Just Yet, but Here's Why It Should

It only took us one episode to fall head over heels for On My Block, Netflix's latest teen comedy. The 10-episode season follows five 14-year-old kids growing up in a rough neighborhood of South Central LA as they start freshman year of high school and also have to deal with everything from gang violence and first love to finding buried treasure (yes, buried treasure in LA - just go with it). More important, the show cocreated by Awkward's Lauren Iungerich, Jeremy Haft, and Eddie Gonzalez is a major step forward for diversity in a genre of TV shows that typically feature predominantly white teens in wealthier areas.

Starring Jason Genao, Sierra Capri, Diego Tinoco, Brett Gray, and Ronni Hawk (all actors of color) and featuring an amazing soundtrack, we should note, season one is an easy, enjoyable, and necessary Netflix binge. So what we need to know ASAP is if it's getting renewed by the streaming giant for season two, especially because of that shocking cliffhanger.

As it stands, Netflix has yet to officially speak out about whether or not it has plans to renew the series, but don't freak out just yet. In the past, the company has waited until months afterward to let anything slip. There's definitely still hope! What we do know is that On My Block is one of the most solid, diverse, and entertaining series aimed at teens released by Netflix in quite some time - we have to believe they'd want to continue telling Monse, Jamal, Cesar, Olivia, and Ruby's story.

On My Block is now streaming on Netflix.
