Ring Ring: Just Calling to Let You Know Neve Campbell Is in Talks For Scream 5
What would Scream be without Sidney Prescott? Fortunately, that seems to be a reality scary-movie fans won't have to grapple with, as Neve Campbell recently revealed she's been in talks to revive the iconic character for Scream 5, which is reportedly in early development at Spyglass. "We're having conversations," the actress told Rotten Tomatoes. "I have been approached about it."
Ready or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are slated to direct the fifth installment, and Campbell said they had been "negotiating" her involvement just at the start of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which has had an obvious effect on the entertainment industry at large. Campbell said, "We only started the conversation maybe a month and a half ago, so it's going to take some time to figure out how it's all going to work out."

Campbell also intimated that she felt the directors would do right by the franchise's mastermind, the late Wes Craven. "The two directors wrote me a very touching letter about Wes Craven and how he was such an inspiration to them and how they really want to honor him, and that meant a great, great deal to me," Campbell said. "So we'll see. Hopefully, we can all see eye to eye on the project and find a way to make it."
"I love Sidney Prescott."
On appearing in all four films over 15 years, Campbell said, "I'm so grateful for these films." She added, "I love Sidney Prescott. It's always fun for me to step back in her shoes, and it's always fun for me to see the cast come back and make one of these films again and try to make another good one."
