For Straightforward Political News, I Recommend These 22 Twitter Accounts

Yamiche Alcindor of PBS NewsHour asks a question at a White House press conference

I never thought I'd be living through a pandemic - let alone an election year coupled with a pandemic. Keeping up with the influx of information has been trying for me, personally, as I'm sure many of you can relate to. While we are living in a time with unparalleled technological advances, having so much information at your fingertips can feel overwhelming.

I've found, in recent months, that I prefer getting my political news from the folks on the ground - specifically from reporters, not pundits, who are covering The White House on a daily basis. As the United States is deep into a historic election year, I thought I could get you started with a list of journalists and reporters to follow, helping you get the news direct from the source.

I choose to follow these individuals because I value their hard work and commitment to getting me the news directly.

I appreciate getting direct quotes from a press briefing or the word-by-word exchanges happening on the congressional floor because this allows me to craft my opinion on the news, which I value. More than anything, following these folks has made me realize the immense respect I have for their hard work and commitment to be on the ground (pandemic or not) day in and day out, maintaining their professionalism and working with dignity. The individuals on this list report for a wide variety of publications and come from a range of backgrounds covering the 2020 election. Their work makes my own Twitter feed that much more informative, and I hope it will do the same for yours.
