What 1 Man Found Inside the Sleeve of an Old Record Will Melt Your Heart
When adding a new item to a collection of any sort, people often look for things that hold great sentimental value. But Reddit user Muctur wasn't prepared for the feels that would hit him when he purchased a record vinyl for his collection. Upon opening the record sleeve, he found a signed note from the mother of the previous owner. In the message, she shared the history of her late son, Mark, who passed away from a heart attack at 39 years old.
According to the letter, Mark passed away while running the Oregon coastal mountains. He was an avid collector of music with over 2,000 CDs and 600 LPs. Mark had only one only wish if something were to happen to him: for his mom to listen to his records. While she mentions in her note that she's given his music collection a spin, she has also found healing in sharing his music around the world. Money made from purchases of Mark's music goes towards his son's education.
The lucky Redditor that snagged this meaningful LP now considers it the most valuable piece in his collection. And while this isn't the first touching note we've seen left on an item, we sure hope it isn't the last! Check out more of the note below.

9 Ways to Save Major Money at Trader Joe's
Everybody's got a favorite snack from Trader Joe's. Whether it's spicy or sweet, you don't want to sacrifice your top choice of treats simply because the cost is high! Instead of skipping out on scrumptious food, simply follow these tips to drastically lower your next Trader Joe's grocery bill:
- Surprise! You can use coupons: Many people are unaware that Trader Joe's accepts manufacturer coupons for name-brand items. While you won't find coupons for Trader Joe's-brand cookies, you can clip or print them for things like Annie's Natural products and Lärabars.
- Bring a bag: If you live in a city with a disposable bag tax, remembering to bring your own bags to TJ's can save a few dollars per trip. Some locations also offer shoppers the chance to win grocery gift cards if they bring a reusable shopping bag!
- Don't shop hungry: Going to the store hungry is a recipe for disaster. Everything looks good, so you'll want to buy it all! Trader Joe's also has free samples, which can tempt you into expensive purchases when you're famished.
- Use the "Fearless Flyer": Before heading on a TJ's trip, look through the store's monthly mailer. This helpful handout lists discounts and specials that can help you choose the cheapest items!
- If you don't like it, return it: Trader Joe's has a very lenient return policy, so if you're ever unsatisfied with an item you can bring it back for a full refund. Nothing is worse than spending money on bad/damaged food.
- Go for gift cards: The Krazy Coupon Lady recommends buying discounted TJ's gift cards on gift card resale websites to save a few bucks. They're not always in stock, though, so don't count on this savings method for every trip.
- Use your credit card's benefits: If you have a credit card with rewards, points, or a cash-back option, use it when grocery shopping. This can make you money over time if you pay off your balance immediately.
- Try before you buy: Bargain Babe recommends utilizing the liberal Trader Joe's sampling policy when considering a new product. TJ's employees are allowed to open any nonalcoholic item for customers to taste, so just ask!
- Compare prices before your purchase: While many products at Trader Joe's are a great deal, some items are more expensive than the competition. Make sure to choose Trader Joe's items that are worth the money, and skip the ones that aren't. Pay particular attention to meat and certain prepared foods because you may be able to cut costs by buying them elsewhere.

Everything We Know About the (Rumored) American Hogwarts Houses
Anyone who loves Harry Potter has got a Hogwarts house - or has at least tried to figure theirs out. House identity is a huge deal to the Potter fandom, which is why there has been so much speculation about how J.K. Rowling will configure the 10 non-Hogwarts wizarding schools in her magical universe. With the upcoming release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the American version of Hogwarts, Ilvermorny, has been the primary focus of these speculations.
Apparently, one fan was perplexed enough about the unanswered Ilvermorny questions that he went rooting around in Pottermore's source code for answers. By some stroke of shady, shady luck, he came across an unfinished sorting ceremony quiz that supposedly lists names of the American school's houses: Wampus, Thunderbird, Pukwudgie, and Horned Serpent. These names, each representative of magical creatures native to North America, are likely the mascots for each Ilvermorny house.
Rowling briefly mentioned two of these creatures in her recent Pottermore series, History of Magic in North America. "The Thunderbird is a magical American bird closely related to the phoenix," the author describes in one piece about magic in 1920s America. In the same installment, she mentions "hair of the Wampus cat" in passing as a wand-core material.
According to Hypable, the Wampus is closely related to the cougar. The Pukwudgie is supposedly a gray humanoid creature with enlarged features, while the Horned Serpent is a large reptilic being often featured in Native American lore.
While one might expect Potterheads to jump with joy over this unsanctioned news about their beloved universe, many have voiced frustration with the speculated housing system.
One of the major complaints about these picks is not only that they seem to be similar picks as the Hogwarts mascots, but also that American schools tend not to have separate houses - some feel that a house system isn't representative of American academic culture. Others have taken offense to Rowling's use of Native American mythological creatures, dubbing it cultural appropriation.
Before getting up in arms about this information, it's important to remember that none of this information is official - it was leaked in a way that's likely frustrating to Rowling and her entire Pottermore team. Jumping to conclusions about her choices before she's even announced them is unfair to her as the series creator and - to be quite frank - an ungrateful move by the Potter fandom. For now, we'll write this off as speculation . . . we're sure that Rowling would like the chance to speak for herself.

This Is Probably Why You Shouldn't Ask For Drugs on Social Media
You never know who will come across your social media accounts, which is why you should be careful of what you post. A girl, who goes by Twitter user preznixon16, really wanted some weed, so she asked the Twitter-verse.
WHOS IN SARASOTA FLORIDA AND HAS WEED #Sarasota
- Fly Shit Only (@preznixon16) May 8, 2016
And most likely thought it would go ignored. But as we know, once you post something on the internet, someone from somewhere will find it. Unfortunately, for the girl, the Sarasota Police Department in Florida answered her.
If you'd like to stop by our HQs, our Narcotics Detectives would be more than happy to talk. #SayNoToDrugs #LESM https://t.co/sQc8P2LHUL
- SarasotaPD (@sarasotapd) May 10, 2016
Of course, other users quickly commented on the police's tweet with their own opinions and memes:
@sarasotapd @preznixon16 http://pic.twitter.com/kH5tMMkypm
- ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (@070Clark) May 11, 2016
It doesn't appear that she ever got in trouble for her tweet, and according to Mashable, she never got her weed, which is probably for the best. The user, however, still stands by her tweets, saying:
Alright guys, my tweet does have a good message. There needs to be more weed in Florida. That shit shouldn't even be illegal.

A Firsthand Account of What REALLY Happens After You Win the Lottery
Winning the lottery is life-changing - for better or for worse. We can all surmise what winning a huge chunk of cash may actually feel like, but . . . then what? Canadian Imgur user newfoundking won a cool million several months ago, then followed up his announcement with an explanation of the process behind winning big money. The fact that Canadians don't pay taxes on their lottery winnings is yet another reason Canada is looking pretty good these days - in the US, taxes on lottery winnings vary by state. So, what's the process? Here's what he had to say about his own experience.
1. You get your ticket validated.
"You read your ticket, see your numbers all match and scream, curse, cry, all that stuff. Once that's out of your system, the first thing you need to do is get your ticket validated to confirm you're actually a winner. On bottom, that unique barcode gets scanned and you get a little slip which says 'major prize alert', it's about two feet long and has specific instructions on how to claim your winnings and everything. Essentially it all boils down to sign the ticket, back and front. Guard it with your life."
2. Then call the lotto office.
"It's staffed between all the hours when the lotto tickets can be validated. You read them the slip number, they confirm it was indeed printed and everything you said, and then you have to report to the closest lotto office to wherever you live. I'm in a major metro city, so I went to the main office, but I supposed if you lived far away, you could mail it . . . "
3. You go in to the office (and get your giant check!).
"Once you go in, they collect all your info, send the ticket off and give you the next steps for a celebration where you collect your money, and send away the original. We took a photocopy of the ticket to frame, but they kept the original for their records I guess. We did get the giant check though!"
4. You then alert your bank.
"When it's all said and done there, you need to call your bank and tell them about the extremely large incoming deposit (apparently they block that stuff if it's abnormal) and then in two hours time, it's there. We didn't have to pay any taxes on it, since we're Canadian, and awesome."
5. You guard that ticket with your life!
"The first question you're asked by everyone involved in the lotto corp, and eventually by everyone who asks, is where do you hide the ticket until you have the money? Well, we put it under a clock. Not for safe keeping, just to keep it somewhere it wouldn't get touched or moved."
6. You deal with people finding out.
"The lotto is something that everyone we were related to and our friends knew and asked about, but as time passes, people haven't known. It may come up in conversation, but now it's kind of a part of our past we don't brag about. The congratulations now very rare to what they were before, but they do still come up once in a while.
"More or less, now we just kind of don't talk about it or bring it up as it brings a lot of unwanted things with it. One particular story is that we went to a fundraising dinner and auction, as we always have and the lovely auctioneer introduced us as the newest lotto winners. Well, that made things pretty awkward. Yes, we still donated our fair share (we were around mid-range wealth in that room) but lotto winning doesn't allow for a lot of fair judgement by the masses, as it's not seen as deserved money."
7. You enjoy it!
"Thankfully it wasn't an ungodly sum we'd be tortured to share, but it still brings unwanted expectations when you announce it, so now the honeymoon has passed and we've all celebrated, it's just time to quietly enjoy the remnants of the money and the investments with it, while we continue with our merry lives."
8. You (hopefully) spend it wisely.
"A million is large, but not too large. We bought a house, paid off debts, all that important stuff and we're all living comfortably now. Yes everything is new, but it's not too extravagant, living within our means still. With the lack of debt, we all have more money to spend, so we've been vacationing and saving more too. It's important to enjoy the money, but not let it ruin you. The Kraft Dinner was actually our celebration meal (we're not poor, just forgot to buy groceries in the shock of it all) and it's kinda our joke now."

Everything We Already Know About Justin Timberlake's New Album
Obsessed with Justin Timberlake's new single? Well, good news: There's more music on the way! While promoting his new movie, Trolls, JT has been casually dropping clues about his upcoming album. It's been nearly three years since he released his two-part album, The 20/20 Experience, in 2013, and fans are definitely ready for more. Check out everything we know (so far) about Justin Timberlake's next album, then watch his must-see performance of "True Colors" with Anna Kendrick.
- The sound: JT may be known for his pop music, but for his next album, we can also expect a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll. On 97.1 AMP Radio's Morning Show, he told Carson Daly that the new album will reflect his roots. "Growing up in Tennessee - very central of the country - Memphis is known as the birthplace of rock and roll but also the home of the blues, but Nashville's right down the street so there's a lot of country music," he said. This isn't too much of a surprise, considering the success of his country-inspired song "Drink You Away" and all the buzz that came after his duet with country singer Chris Stapleton at last year's CMAs.
- The collaborators: Justin inspired a total fan freak-out when he shared a photo in the studio with Pharrell, and he later posted another picture with Little Big Town. Of the collaborators, Justin told Capital FM that he's mixing it up this time, saying, "It's moving along quite nicely with Pharrell and [Timbaland], the usual suspects, and also, you know, the Swedes." He's likely referencing Swedish songwriter and producer Max Martin, who's behind some of the top hits by *NSYNC, Britney Spears, Adele, Taylor Swift, and just about every other major pop artist.
- The release date: Justin has been very careful not to nail down a specific release date just yet, explaining that he doesn't want to be held to a certain timeframe.
The Real Truth About Sweet Potatoes vs. Russets
You may be surprised to know that potatoes are healthy for you. But before you drop your salad fork in delight to reach for some potato chips, there are some ground rules to follow. Obviously potatoes fried in any form or smothered in cheese, sour cream, or butter aren't the healthiest options. Also, not all potatoes are created equal. Sweet potatoes are healthier than russets, right? Well, not necessarily. It depends on the nutrition holes you're trying to fill in your diet, so check out this comparison to see how they stack up.

If These iPhone Rumors Are True, Everything Will Be Perfect
It feels like the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus just hit shelves, but the tech world is already abuzz with rumors about Apple's next installment, the iPhone 7. Much of the speculation is taking place on the Chinese version of Twitter, Weibo. While many possible features are great, one in particular isn't going over well with some people. Here's what you might be able to expect when the iPhone 7 comes around.
- Two cameras: The iPhone 7 Plus is rumored to come in two versions: a regular one with just a single camera and another with two cameras. One will be a wide angle lens and the other a telephoto one, says a report from Apple Insider. If both cameras exist on a single iPhone, you can expect to see better resolution and zoom.
- Wireless charging: Start saying goodbye to chargers that bend and break. According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple might introduce wireless charging for its smartphones in 2017. A charger would still exist but the iPhone could charge over the air. No word yet on how far you can be from a charger to do this.
- An iPhone without a headphone connection: Several sources are speculating that the next iPhone will no longer come with a headphone jack. Instead, people can either use earphones that can connect in the Lightning port or use wireless Bluetooth ones. Some people are extremely upset about this change and over 200,000 have even signed a petition against it.
- Bigger battery:: The new iPhone will comes with a battery that's bigger than current ones - a 3100 mAh battery to be exact, according to Chinese website MyDrivers . This doesn't necessarily mean longer battery life, but we can only hope.
- A 256GB storage option: Current iPhone models come in 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage options, so the 256GB model would be a nice option if the leak reported by MyDrivers is true.
- A completely waterproof phone: Mac Otakara also claims that early iPhone 7 prototypes are both dustproof and waterproof, reports Mashable.
- Liquid Metal body: Because Apple owns patents with Liquid Metal Inc., many rumors suggest that the next iPhone will skip plastic and aluminum bodies in favor of a new material.
- A completely flat LCD screen: Forget curved edges - Apple will reportedly stick to a classic, flat-screened iPhone model.
- A barely there home button: The home button you know and click, might go away for a more "touch-sensitive" one, according to 9to5Mac. The rumors, coming from Chinese site, Storm, state that the new phone would use haptic feedback (the same technology behind 3D Touch), to replace the home button.
- Smart connector: The popular feature on the iPad Pro might be coming to the larger iPhone 7 model. A new leak from OnLeaks shows the smart connector, which lets you transfer data and power between the keyboard and iPad Pro. If it's on the new iPhone, it opens up the possibilities of new accessories to use with it.
On top of the cool iPhone 6S features (like live photos) that we're still obsessing over, these changes would be pretty drastic. What do you hope Apple will change about the iPhone 7?

Make Your Own: Eco-Friendly Metal Pot and Pan Cleaner
We've all got a few pots and pans lurking that aren't as shiny as they used to be. Instead of heading to the store for new ones, put this just-about-free DIY cleaning concoction to the test. Perfect for using on crusty sheet pans and burnt pots, it scours and cleans without any harsh chemicals while giving hands a bit of an exfoliation too. So get out those old pans, and get ready to make them new again.
What You'll Need:
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 teaspoon liquid dish soap
- 1 to 2 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide
- Scrub sponge
Directions:
- Mix together the baking soda, dish soap, and hydrogen peroxide in a small dish. Stir until it resembles a bowl of whipped cream, adding more hydrogen peroxide as needed.
- Spread the mixture over the pot or pan and allow the cleaner to work its magic for a few minutes. Baking soda is a natural and soft abrasive that helps lift stains from metal, while hydrogen peroxide does a wonder cleaning and breaking up buildup.
- Place the pot or pan in your sink and use a scrub sponge to gently work the cleaner into the cookware. Continue working until everything's sparkling clean.
- Wash and rinse the pot or pan and enjoy its shine. This metal cleaner is safe to use as often as needed to keep pots and pans looking just about brand new.
Once your pots and pans are nice and clean, follow these directions to make your sink look brand-new too.

This Incredible Prince Cover Could Probably Make Doves Cry
Ever since Prince's untimely death, there have been some pretty amazing tributes, but this might be the best yet. On May 2, more than a thousand people joined together in Toronto at Massey Hall to sing his hit track "When Doves Cry," and it is absolutely chilling. After hours of learning their parts, the open choir group, called Choir! Choir! Choir!, recorded a video to honor the music legend. See the incredible result above, and then check out even more of his greatest hits.
Exploring the Theory That the Game of Thrones Book Series Title Gives It All Away
Any devoted Game of Thrones fan, whether they also read the books or are show-only fans, is also up on the most relevant theories about the characters. While you might not subscribe to each and every crazy theory out there, it's gotten to the point that if you don't know the most basic theories, you're way out of the loop. One of these theories is the R + L = J theory, which we have explored here before, especially since it looks like this season is setting up the reveal of Jon Snow's parents. That parentage thread, along with the fact that we don't have all that many Game of Thrones episodes left after this season, has made us explore one of these big theories. It's about the end of the series and, essentially, who ultimately wins in the titular game of thrones - so if you don't want to know, turn back now.
The Theory: A Song of Ice and Fire Gives the Ending Away
The title Game of Thrones is the name of the TV series but not George R. R. Martin's book series. The first book is called A Game of Thrones, but the whole book series, comprising the already-published five books (and the two still to come), is called A Song of Ice and Fire. A lovely name, to be sure, but what if it's more than that?
What If Ice and Fire Signify Certain People?
What if this epic "song" is about how two characters - symbolized by ice and fire - come together in the end? The obvious characters are:
Jon Snow = Ice
Jon has pretty much been living in the icy cold of the Wall and beyond for six seasons.
Daenerys Targaryen = Fire
Not only has there been tons of fire imagery associated with Daenerys on the show, including her own "rebirth" in the first season in a funeral pyre for Khal Drogo and her dragons breathing fire, but the Targaryen words are also "Fire and Blood."
Therefore, A Song of Ice and Fire = A Song of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen
A stretch? Could be, but consider the two characters who fans have an undying love for and who both seem destined for something more (Jon's resurrection being not just a major indication for this but also a distinct parallel to Daenerys's season-one storyline). Thus, we could be watching the story of how the Seven Kingdoms are destined for two rulers, not just one, and the Iron Throne will be cozily shared by Jon and Daenerys. Also, if the theory that Jon is a Targaryen comes true, you might be pointing out that that makes him and Daenerys related (technically, she'd be his aunt), but marrying within the family has always been a Targaryen custom. (It also seems relevant to point out that the R + L = J theory doesn't have to be true for this outcome to happen.)
And though I suppose other characters could fulfill the ice and fire symbols, it's almost too obvious. Need more? Also consider those Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke poses for Entertainment Weekly that preceded season three (interesting for characters who have never shared a frame on the show) and the three heads of the dragon theory that is also gaining traction.
Honestly, this "theory" doesn't feel so much like a spoiler but the kind of ending that feels right, in a show that often disappoints you with its character deaths and tragedies.

Someone Made the Nimbus 2000 From Harry Potter and It Looks Insanely Difficult
As we've learned from people's various takes on the Weasley family clock, Harry Potter-inspired DIY projects don't tend to be easy. Case in point: Imgur user Goodmen999's construction of the Nimbus 2000 racing broom.
The beautiful broom was first made by scaling its dimensions as it appeared in the movie - the only issue being that different brooms were used throughout filming. After determining the approximate measurements, he sawed the shape down from a piece of mahogany wood, attached styrofoam to one end of the broom, and covered the styrofoam with thin branches. Then, once he created a metal gold stand, he painted the finished product in a clear lacquer. If we're being honest, the whole project sounds hard as f*ck.
Check out the impressive undertaking below. Full disclosure: this is not a DIY for the faint of heart - but it is awesome.
Queen Letizia Doesn't Let a Little Rain Stop Her From Looking Totally Chic
When it rains, it pours, and Queen Letizia braves it better than all of us. The Spanish royal, who, let's face it, always manages to look chic, impressed us with her model-esque umbrella usage while greeting excited citizens outside La Rinconada in Madrid on May 11.
Let it be known that not once did Letizia's umbrella flip inside out or threaten to blow away as has happened to us on so many ocassions. Rather, Letizia gracefully held on tight and smiled unscathed as the Spring showers continued above her.
While we're here, can we also talk about her outfit? This rainy-day ensemble - consisting of a red-hot skirt suit with a trench coat overtop, matching ruby drop earrings, a snakeskin clutch, and flesh-toned pumps for added oomph - certainly beats the ever-desirable option: sweatpants. Read on for more pictures (and a few umbrella-shopping ideas), and then discover the one fashion trend Letizia has totally mastered.

Try Solving This Math Puzzle That Is Making People Go Crazy on Facebook
Ever wanted to tear your hair out and question everything you've ever learned about math? Well, thanks to the website Brain Dare, you can. The company recently posted a math puzzle to its Facebook page that's made the internet divide into two categories based on answers.
Take a look at the puzzle below and determine your own answer.
Did you get 40? Or 96? Though Brain Dare states that 96 is the correct answer, other users are claiming that both can be correct. Brain Dare figured out its answer with multiplication. To begin, you multiply the first number by the second number. For example, 1 x 4 = 4. Then, add that result to the first number and you'll arrive at the answer after the equal sign; for the first line it's 5.
But some people arrived at the answer 40 sans multiplication. Instead, they just added the answer of the first line (5) to the next one. So, 5 + 2 = 7. Add the 5 in the previous answer and you'll get to the answer 12. If you follow it all the way through, you'll arrive at 40.
People in the comments are arguing about which answer is actually right. Some just want Brain Dare to acknowledge that math puzzles such as these can have two answers. The puzzle is clearly extremely popular, considering the post has more than 1,900 reactions, 6,000 comments, and 1,000 shares. At the POPSUGAR offices, we're also torn and finding these two answers as well.
If you want to drive yourself crazy with another brain teaser, try this one involving fruit from a few months ago.

This Keyboard App From Google Will Change the Way You Use Your iPhone
It's time to meet the next app that's going to change your life and make you wonder how you lived without it. Meet Gboard, a keyboard app from Google that lets you search for GIFs within a text message, swipe to text, and so much more.
The app, available for iOS sometime later today, integrates into your iPhone just as a regular keyboard. To use it, tap the globe icon and switch to the Gboard. The capabilities for what you can do with it are endless. Trying to tell a friend to meet you at a restaurant? Search for it in your text message and send it easily. Or, find the perfect GIF that shows off how you feel and send away. The best part about this app is the ability to swipe to text - something insanely useful when you only have one hand free.
We had a chance to play around with it and were very impressed. The predictive text function works much better than the one on iOS - in so many more ways imaginable. For example, if you type in a company name, like Amazon, the keyboard will ask you if you wanted to search it. Typing in something like "Want to have dinner tonight" will prompt the keyboard to ask you if you want to search for restaurants near you. Trust us when we say this is one app that will become as common on iPhones as Instagram and Snapchat are.
Look ahead to see different functions of the keyboard in action and maybe you'll be convinced to make space on your iPhone for it.

Clean Machine: Homemade Natural Liquid Laundry Detergent
A big pile of laundry waiting to hit the washing machine doesn't just inspire dread; doing all those loads starts to add up on the pocketbook, as well. With some premium liquid laundry detergents topping out around $10 for 12 ounces, tossing down the cash to keep those jugs full gets expensive. For the same cost of one container of store-purchased detergent, you can pick up the all-natural ingredients needed to make gallons and gallons of laundry detergent that costs pennies per load. And you can personalize this eco cleaning concoction with essential oils, leaving your clothes fresh and wonderfully clean.
What You'll Need:
- Empty gallon jug
- 1/2 cup Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
- 1/4 cup Borax
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 tablespoon castile soap
- 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
- Hot water
- Essential oils (optional)
- Large mixing bowl
- Whisk
- Spouted measuring cup or funnel
Directions:
- Measure and add the washing soda and Borax (both available in the laundry aisle at your local grocery store) in a large mixing bowl or container. Give the dry ingredients a whisk to break up any clumps.
- Cover the Borax and washing soda with the boiling water, and whisk until the dry ingredients have dissolved.
- Slowly add the pure castile soap. Castile soap can be found at your local health food store, and it comes in scented varieties, too. I used lavender for my liquid laundry detergent, which gave it a very slight floral scent. Then add the vinegar and gently mix.
- Add hot water while gently whisking until you have enough detergent to fill the gallon container. You can also add 10 to 20 drops of your favorite essential oil to personalize the scent. Using the funnel, carefully fill the container with the liquid laundry detergent.
- Now you're ready to do some laundry! Around 1/3 cup cleans a big load of clothes.

6 Signs a Dog Might Be About to Bite You - So You Can Back Away Carefully
As much as we love dogs, and we really, really love them, there are some dogs that just don't love us back sometimes. Be it from stress, fear, or whatever else, sometimes dogs want to lash out, because after all, they are animals. Thanks to Erin Askeland, seasoned dog training and behavior expert at Camp Bow Wow, we have a quick list of signs that a dog is likely to bite. Familiarize yourself with these signs so that if something comes up, you can be ready to back away.
- Lip licking, yawning, wide eyes, and spiked fur: These are all are indicators of a stressed dog. It is important to always asses the exact situation. If a dog is lying on the couch by itself and licks its lips, most likely it is not stressed. If a dog is being hugged, tugged on, etc. and begins to emit warning signs, this is a clear indicator that he/she is now stressed.
- Growling and snapping: Never try to get a dog to stop growling; we WANT it to growl, as it lets us know that he/she is uncomfortable. If a dog gets in trouble for growling, it will stop and can immediately go to biting.
- A stiff wagging rail: A dog that is experiencing stress will wag its tail in a stiff manner (a telltale warning sign that it might bite). Look out for a tail that is pointed high and moves even more quickly back and forth.
- Averting their gaze: Avoidance behavior indicates that the dog is not comfortable with the particular situation.
- Cowering or tail tucking: This behavior indicates that a dog is fearful. It doesn't necessarily mean the dog will bite, but it could if the dog's fear continues to increase.
- Backing away or hiding: Whether the dog backs itself into a corner or tries to hide (under a chair, table, bed, crate, etc.), this is a clear indication that the dog is uncomfortable and trying to escape. It is important to leave dogs that are exhibiting this behavior alone! Allow them to come to you.

These 13 New Emoji Proposed by Google Depict Working Women
We're constantly thinking about all the different emoji we want to exist, like a dinosaur or dumpling. And while new emoji arrive every year, women are tired of seeing a new potato emoji but nothing that actually reflects who we are. Google wants to change that, which is why the company is proposing 13 new emoji to better represent women.
The proposal, which was created by four Google employees, was submitted to the Unicode Consortium and details the 13 new emoji. Each of the new emoji depicts a working woman in different types of work, like as a businesswoman or doctor. Why did Google do this? The answer is simple: Google thinks it's about time women have these type of emoji, especially considering young women are the "heaviest emoji users." As women enter the spotlight more and demand equality, emoji should also reflect that and catch up with the times instead of getting stuck behind. The PDF document of the proposal also cites numerous articles and campaigns that have called for better representation of women in emoji.
The Google employees carefully selected the professions for the new emoji women. First, they looked at data from job sectors, which types of jobs are growing in popularity, and what is being talked about the most in the media and culture - most notably, science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) jobs. To arrive at their final answer, they looked at the three categories that make up the global gross domestic product (GDP): agriculture, industry, and services. From there, they chose farming for agriculture, different industry and manufacturing jobs for the industry section, and lastly "healthcare, technology, business representation, education, food service, and rockstar" for the services sector. The complete list of emoji is below.
And while they did create these emoji for women, they also included the counterpart male emoji. The proposal states its time for the Unicode Consortium to consider emoji that are absolved from gender. Like any emoji proposal, these may not make it into the final emoji release. Some can be cut or changed. But at least Google is pushing along this conversation and we can hopefully see these sooner rather than later.

Could This Heartbreaking Harry Potter Theory Explain Hogwarts Class Sizes?
A question that comes up often in Harry Potter fan circles is about the size of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. JK Rowling describes the magical institution as one of Europe's largest, with hundreds of students attending every school year. But, as book readers are well aware, the series's namesake character seems to have very few classmates, a mere handful of boys and girls in Gryffindor, with similarly scant enrollment of Harry's grade level in Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.
Well, one Tumblr user has come up with a theory for why Harry Potter's grade level is so small.
This theory, though heartbreaking considering its implications, has been parroted across Reddit and other fan blogs. It makes sense, right? Given that Harry's parents were killed when he was only 15 months old, it would explain tiny class sizes immediately surrounding Harry's year - Voldemort was at his peak leading up to and immediately following Harry's birth. Understandably, couples likely avoided conceiving during such terrifying times, with only a few brave wizards in Britain deciding to procreate despite the horrors of Voldemort's reign.
This sort of wartime fear surrounding major life events is a common theme in the Harry Potter series. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Molly Weasley explains that she and Arthur married young because everybody did during Voldemort's rise to power - they didn't know how much time they had left. And her son Ron justifies kissing Hermione during the Battle of Hogwarts for a similar reason.
"Is this the moment?" Harry asked weakly, and when nothing happened except that Ron and Hermione gripped each other still more firmly and swayed on the spot, he raised his voice. "Oi! There's a war going on here!"
Ron and Hermione broke apart, their arms still around each other.
"I know, mate," said Ron, who looked as though he had recently been hit on the back of the head with a Bludger, "So it's now or never, isn't it?"
So next time you're wondering why you only ever hear about a handful of Hogwarts students in Harry's grade level, understand that they're the few whose parents were brave (or foolish) enough to bring babies into the world during the reign of a complete monster.

9 Ways to Be a Minimalist
I'm a firm believer that less is more. Embracing a minimalist lifestyle can mean a healthier body, mind, and home - and getting rid of what you don't need can be pretty cathartic. If you're a bit of a hoarder or maybe just really attached to some of your stuff (understandable), then minimalism may seem a little intimidating at first. But I can attest to that fact that not only is it easy, it's also relieving and refreshing. Here are some easy ways to become a minimalist while still holding onto your favorite things.
1. Make a list of things you don't need.
If you haven't used an item in over a year, then it's probably just taking up extra space. Take note of unnecessary items, and be willing to let some of them go.
2. Get rid of any duplicate items.
How many pairs of basic jeans do you really need? Do you use three sets of dishware or just one? Take stock of the items in your home that you have more than one of, and evaluate their necessity. Be open to cutting out duplicates of things you don't use.
3. Put a stop to paperwork.
Most companies offer paperless billing now, and apart from the hard copies of important items like birth certificates and social security cards, know when to stash and trash your papers. Bank online, pay your bills online, and back up your data on iCloud or similar services.
4. Keep your home clutter-free.
Adopt a method of cleaning that prevents the buildup of clutter in your house, and apply/maintain the clutter-free mentality in all rooms.
5. Simplify mealtime.
Don't over-buy food at the store, eat perishables before they go bad, and dispose of what has gone bad. Make smaller meal portions so that food doesn't go to waste, and make the most of leftovers when you do make too much.
6. Pack lightly.
Apply the minimalist approach to your travels, and save major bag space by packing light. Not having to worry about extra weight can make the process so much simplier and more enjoyable.
7. Minimize your wardrobe.
Being a minimalist doesn't mean lacking fashion sense, but stick to basic colors and pieces that will go with everything for a classic (and easy) style. A minimalist style never goes out out of style. Embracing this type of wardrobe will make getting ready in the mornings efficient and help you maintain a clutter-free closet full of clothes you actually wear, not clothes you think you might wear one day.
8. Downsize.
If you're not using the space in your house or even in your car, then consider downsizing to something more practical. You can save money (and cleaning time!) by letting go of the idea that more space is better; smaller spaces are easier to maintain and can even feel more cozy.
9. Embrace the "one in, one out" rule.
If you get something new, something old has to go. This will help keep clutter and excess to a minimum and will encourage you to really evaluate what you do and don't need.

DIY Warming Rub For Sore Muscles
After a long day or a hard workout, soothe sore muscles with an all-natural rub that gently warms and releases muscle tension. Made with ingredients you have in your pantry and a few essential oils, the sore-muscle salve also makes a nice massage lotion. And it smells a whole lot better than the kind you can buy at the store.
What You'll Need:
- Small saucepan
- Small heat-safe bowl
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon beeswax
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 20 drops peppermint essential oil
- 20 drops eucalyptus essential oil
- 20 drops clove oil
- Coffee filter
- Strainer
- Small bowl
- Small sealable container
Directions:
- Start by filling a small saucepan with water and finding a heatproof bowl that will fit inside the pan. You can also use a clean can for this step. Measure and add the coconut and olive oil to the bowl, along with the ground pepper and ginger. Bring the water to a simmer, and then let the mixture warm in the hot water for 20 minutes.
- Black pepper and ginger are more than just spices! Both are warming ingredients and help with circulation, soothing sore muscles. After 20 minutes of steeping in the oils, add the beeswax, and heat until melted.
- Place a stainer over a small bowl, and add a bit of extra help with a coffee filter. Carefully remove the melted mixture from the saucepan, and pour over the strainer. This keeps the ginger and ground pepper out of your smooth salve.
- Now add the peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils. Both add a deep, soothing tingle to the rub and smell fresh and invigorating. We made our own clove-infused oil, which was added to the mixture, but you can find clove essential oil at most health food stores.
- Carefully pour the warming rub in a small sealable container, and let set at room temperature for a couple of hours. Cap, and use when your muscles are in need of some soothing.
The recipe makes two ounces of warming rub that will keep in a cool spot for as long as it lasts. This sore-muscle salve offers a gentle tingle and is made for topical use only. Avoid using on the face and wash hands after application to avoid interaction with eyes, nose, and mouth.

How to Temporarily Disable - Not Delete! - Your Instagram Account
I have a love/hate relationship with my Instagram. There are a lot of things about it that I find #superf*ckingannoying, but from a photography standpoint, I do love following people with beautiful shots. And keeping up with my friends is cool, too. I'll often push Instagram away when I need some space, but like an ex I just can't quite quit, it will come creeping back into my life, and before I know it, I'm obsessed all over again and chronicling every detail of my #blessed life. Sometimes I just need a breather from social media in general, but I don't want to lose my prized portfolio of cat glamour shots and book porn in the process.
The solution? Disable, don't delete. Like with Facebook, Instagram users can temporarily suspend their accounts and return to them without losing their photos, comments, "likes," or information. Here's how to take a break without throwing away all your memories.
