Here's a list of the strict assisted death guidelines across most of Canada
The Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons in every province and one of three territories have issued guidelines that doctors must follow in providing medical assistance in dying.
1 Mom's Powerful Words in Defense of Her 3-Year-Old Son's Choice to Wear an Elsa Dress
Like most kids, 3-year-old Zackary Bazen just can't "Let It Go" when it comes to everything Frozen. The young boy chose to sport his Elsa dress - and, more importantly, his blue gloves (so as not to accidentally freeze anything with his powers) - to school one morning, but unfortunately, one woman's ignorance caused Zackary's mother, Haylee, to feel she needed to defend her son's interests in a post to Facebook.
. . . He can be who he wants to be. Today he was a Disney princess and YES I did send him to school like that. Why??? Because that's what he wanted to wear, because he wanted to show his teachers and friends his Elsa dress, because he wanted to sing 'Let It Go' for show-and-tell, because he doesn't understand the gender stereotypes YOU think he should conform to, but most importantly because he is awesome!!
Bazen goes on to tell the woman not to bother with her "poisonous words" the next time she sees Zackary dressed as a cowboy, princess, or anything else she "disapproves" of . . . "Unless you want to tell him how great he looks."
The Way This Young Girl in a Wheelchair Was Excluded From Her Choir's Performance Is Heartbreaking
Altos in the front, sopranos in the back - Jade Razzano, a middle school student with disabilities, off to the side.
In a post to Facebook, Lindsay Vaughn, Jade's caregiver who attended her choir performance at Beaumont Middle School, shared a photo of the students dancing in a line on the risers during rehearsals, while Jade sat in her wheelchair off to the side.
"Last night Jade had a performance with her school choir. Or shall I say, Jade's school choir performed while she watched from the sidelines because they made absolutely no effort to include her in it," Vaughn wrote in her post.
Not only was Jade not included in the performance, her first name, as a total afterthought, was typed in the bottom corner of the program, while the other kids' full names appeared in a centered, alphabetical list above.
However, perhaps the most devastating thing that was somehow allowed to happen that night occurred at the very end of the show. After the last song, the choir and their teacher cleared the stage, and "they just left Jade up there," Joey Razzano, Jade's mother, told Oregon Live. "They didn't give her a second glance. My husband had to go up there and get her."
This isn't the first instance of the school not including Jade equally, but Joey - who also shared the rehearsal photo on her Facebook, with the caption "Feeling the inclusion for Jade in the choir. NOT!!" - doesn't want the music teacher fired. "This is a pervasive issue. If you just fired that one teacher, you're not going to make the world a better place. What you need to do is educate them. You have to provide training."
The Devastating Difference Between Car Seats That Left 1 Girl Unharmed and Her Sister Almost Dead
When Angela Brown was driving home from a dentist appointment on a typical February afternoon, her two daughters were secured in their car seats - but after her SUV slammed into a tree, flipped, and had the tree land atop their upside-down vehicle, both of her daughters weren't protected equally.
The difference between her little girls and their car seats was that one of her daughters, who was nearly 2 years old at the time, was in a forward-facing car seat and broke her back in two places. Her other child was in a rear-facing car seat and had no injuries aside from a small bruise on her shoulder.
"So as you can see two children in the same car crash, restrained properly, one with life threatening injuries and the other with none," their mother, Angela Brown, wrote on Facebook. "I was always unsure about when turning my babies around but after our crash and the hard evidence we are presented with I will forever rearward face my babies as long as I possibly can."
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children stay in rear-facing car seats as long as possible, at least until they are 2 years old. When a baby outgrows his or her infant seat, they should still sit in a rear-facing, convertible seat because this type of car seat offers better protection to a child's head, neck, and spine during a car crash.
Three months after the devastating accident, Angela's daughter is still trying to heal from her injuries with no time frame for when she will be fully recovered. She broke two vertebrae and tore the ligament in a third vertebra in her spine.
"She was one of the youngest to be fitted with a Halo Brace. The doctor told us that most children with her injury don't normally make it," Angela described. "Don't make the same mistake as I did. It could cost you your baby's life."
Why This Boy Sleeping in "His Own Room" Will Make You Count Your Blessings Right This Second
Let's all be honest: to say we don't compare ourselves to others would be a lie. As much as we try not to, it's hard to keep from looking at what others have and feeling a tinge of jealousy.
One mom admitted to such feelings in a moving Imgur post.
She first described how she lives in a small, one-bedroom apartment with her husband and two children, ages 2 and 4. They'd made the living arrangement work for the past three years, but lately, her oldest son had been drawing pictures of his own room and asking his parents if he could have one.
"Unfortunately, with my husband fresh out of college with a minimum salary supporting all of us it hasn't been the easiest to move out, as moves tend to be costly," she wrote in the post.
What happened next proved life-changing:
A close friend gave us their old toddler bed, and we created a corner "room" for my son, and he was so happy and thanked us for such wonderful "room." He said he was going to make phone calls to his friends in his own room and just planned out how he was going to decorate it.
At that moment I felt so blessed yet embarrassed at the same time. I always complained and compared my life to everyone else who seemed to be doing so much better, and never really counted the blessings in my life. I wanted to never forget this moment.
In the post, she shared a photo of her son, sleeping soundly in his very own makeshift room. If that image wasn't solace enough for this mom, the comments - like one from a teacher who said, "the fact that he is thrilled and most of all thankful for this tells me you're winning at parenting" - on her post have helped her "be grateful for every minor and major thing" in her life.
"Can I Sit on Your Lap While You're Pooping?" Isn't Even the Funniest Thing This Little Girl Has Said
Matthew Carroll, a single dad, knows something that every parent does but won't admit.
"What do you do when you have to go to the bathroom and there's a toddler running around the house? You leave the door open, in case there's an emergency," he told POPSUGAR matter-of-factly. "But what really happens is they want to come and just hang out with you. While you're sitting there pooping."
It's moments like that, when his then-3-year-old daughter Morgan would look up at him and say something equal parts adorable and bizarre (ahem, "Can I sit on your lap while you're pooping?"), that inspired Matthew to start keeping track.
"I related to my daughter a lot more when she started talking," he said. "I think this is typical for dads. What is a baby? A cute but needy and squishy thing that wants its mom all the time. When Morgan started talking, I was fascinated by her thoughts and ideas. And being a single dad, I didn't have anybody nearby to whisper, 'Holy crap!' to whenever she said something, so I wrote them down and sent them to friends and family. Suddenly after a few years I realized I had this written record of a little person growing up."
He decided to self-publish a compilation, aptly titled after their quality time in the bathroom, and it quickly sold out. Now, Amazon is launching a new edition of the book, to go on sale March 8.
Matthew is confident other parents won't just relate but might also be inspired to start transcribing their own kid's running commentary: "It's nothing new that kids say weird things, but it does seem interesting to track all the things a person would say at the beginning of their lives and see what kind of personality emerges."
The question on any parent's mind, however: will Morgan, now 9 years old, ever be able to forgive her clever dad? Read on to find out.
Plus, Morgan and her dad pulled a collection of some of the book's choicest quotes, and we promise you'll want to see how Morgan explains her hilarious musings about princess toothpaste, peeing in pools, and her dad's dancing abilities.
Kristen Bell Is About to Tell You How to Have "The Talk" With Your Kids
If you thought you could wait until your kids were approaching their teen years to have "The Talk," you're wrong. Parents need to teach their children - no matter how young - the importance of wearing protection.
Sun protection, that is.
Just like the other "Talk," it's not necessarily fun to speak to toddlers about SPF and the importance of hats and sunglasses, but when just a few sunburns as a child - even only one or two bad bouts - nearly doubles their risk of skin cancer, it's also not something parents can avoid.
Kristen Bell, a mom of two, understands how awkward it can be to talk to kids about the dangers of sun exposure without resorting to scare tactics ("The sun can kill you! On average, 354 Americans are diagnosed with skin cancer every hour? Do you want to be a statistic?! DO YOU?!").
In this exclusive video, Bell - the brand ambassador for Neutrogena, which is working to change the conversations families have about sun protection - role-plays different ways to broach the important subject with a teddy bear but reveals that it's vitally important to do more than just talk.
Following extensive research, the skin care company learned that when parents model behavior for kids at an early age, that behavior becomes a lifelong habit - so they launched the #MimicMommy campaign with setting a good example in mind.
"What am I doing?" Kristen innocently asks the teddy bear as she lotions up. "Oh, I'm just putting on my sunscreen. You know, like Mommy does every morning."

You Can Totally Tell These Edgy Dior Sunglasses Are by Rihanna
You can tell when Rihanna's responsible for designing an item for a brand. Her edgy and boundary-pushing style has led her to not only create a signature collection for Puma but also now a selection of sunglasses for Christian Dior. The metalized shades are designed with clean lines and reflective lenses and come in colors from neon green to rose gold.
Simply named "Rihanna," the futuristic-looking sunnies are exactly what one would expect from the singer. Rihanna appears to be as obsessed with them as we already are and has been sporting them with any outfit. The singer paired the frames with a simple triangle bikini and was later seen wearing a different-colored shade with a sporty black vest, proving these shades make a versatile statement. Although the collection for Dior isn't available until June, read ahead for a glimpse of all the sunglasses, along with Rihanna's proud 'grams of herself wearing them.
Miranda Kerr Just Pulled a Very Kate Middleton Style Move
Kate Middleton's done it, Michelle Obama's done it, and now Miranda Kerr's on board with repeating a full, superchic ensemble - and boy, did she choose a good one to rewear. On Tuesday, the model stepped out in a denim-on-denim outfit that was pretty similar to one she wore back in 2014. And just like the first time we saw it, we swooned, taking note of how well she pulled off this tricky-to-style look.
While Miranda added a duster coat this time around, giving her outfit a 2016 twist, she still rocked simple heeled sandals and carried a black bag, proving that if something ain't broke, definitely don't fix it. See her looks back-to-back ahead, then discover more ways to pull off denim on denim.
Karlie Kloss Shows Jimmy Fallon How to Pose - but Can He Do It in a Dress?

What really gets us is that Karlie played teacher, showing Jimmy Fallon how to nail his own editorial shot, in a very sexy David Koma dress. The Spring '16 navy and black number came complete with two zippers and a leather bandeau, and Karlie rocked it with a simple pair of pumps.
While it looked a little racy, Karlie embodied total sophistication, even while jumping midair. Read on to see Karlie master what's obviously the best portion of her interview on The Tonight Show, then watch Gisele Bündchen show Jimmy how to take the catwalk.

You had every intention of getting up and getting out on time, but the clock seems to be ticking kinda quickly and - gah! - you're still not dressed. Not to fret. There's a lesson to be learned from Queen Letizia of Spain, who stepped out at a journalism seminar in La Rioja wearing an easy, breezy outfit that'll take mere seconds to style yourself. Queen Rania's Independence Day Dress Makes Us Reconsider Those Denim Shorts
Queen Rania has worn plenty of high-fashion designs: a fringe Balmain maxi, spicy red Louis Vuitton bag, and Fendi peekaboo purse, to name a few. But at her core, she's just another royal with smart style sense and a handful of tricks up her sleeve.
As Jordan marks its 70th Independence Day, the queen has been celebrating the public holiday with her family. She appropriately chose a gown by a native designer, Hama Hinnawi, for a ceremony at Amman. While the intricate embroidery on her skirt is unmissable and the cranberry shade of her bodice complements it just right, Queen Rania followed through with the matchy-matchy theme on her own.
She selected pointed-toe pumps in red along with an embellished wide belt that cinched the peplum detail at her waist. Her silver pendant necklace, her coordinated rings and spindly earrings, and the stitching on her box clutch were every bit as ornate as the rest of her ensemble.
While we often find ourselves at a party on July 4 in denim cutoffs and a tank, Queen Rania's regal look makes us reconsider. Perhaps this year, we'll go in a sophisticated dress. Read on for an all-angles view at Queen Rania's unforgettable silhouette.

Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin Had an Epic Prank War on the Me Before You Set
Not only is Emilia Clarke gorgeous, hilarious, and super relatable, but she's also the ultimate prankster. Leading up to the release of Me Before You, her costar Sam Claflin took to Instagram to tell fans about the epic prank war that happened between them on set. While it may have started out as some harmless fun, it quickly escalated into something much bigger. "Sam stole all the furniture out of my room and left me with just the books," the British actress explained at the movie's NYC premiere this week. "I put fish in his socks and a fart machine in his wheelchair." Well, we guess that's what happens when you throw the Mother of Dragons and a Hunger Games victor together!
When in Mexico . . . Even Victoria Beckham Boogies Down in Denim Shorts
She might have been, ahem, encouraged to wear Uggs, but when it came to slipping into denim shorts and a trucker hat, Victoria Beckham was so game. The designer celebrated her best friend Eva Longoria's nuptials by dancing the "Electric Slide" - and she did it in her most casual outfit yet.
While VB's culottes and fancy runway dresses provide us with utmost styling inspiration, we like that she's recently flaunted laid-back looks too. First comes the admittance to a love for flats, then comes boogieing down barefoot. Read on to see Victoria's Summer snaps, then shop for your own pair of cutoffs ahead of the season.
Adele Has a Priceless Reaction After Singing the Wrong Lyrics at Her Concert
Adele certainly knows how to handle a screwup, doesn't she? After her magnificent response to the technical difficulties she faced at the Grammys in February, Adele ran into another unexpected hitch at her concert in Manchester, England, this week. While the 28-year-old "Send My Love (to Your New Lover)" singer launched into a performance of one of 25's most emotional songs, "Million Years Ago," she totally flubbed the lyrics, but in true Adele style, she addressed her mistake in the funniest way possible. "Sh*t, wrong words! Sh*t, sh*t, sh*t," she said with a laugh. "I started singing the chorus. Sorry!" It's safe to say we love her more than ever now. Check out a video of her slip below, then see the sweet moment she helped a couple get engaged in Denmark!
Adele forgot the lyrics to her song and this was her reaction. 😂 http://pic.twitter.com/n1EyHwXM56

An Ode to the Bra That Changed My Life
When it comes to my personal style, I'm 100 percent focused on minimalist comfort: v-neck tees, loose sweaters, flowing dresses, and my all-time favorite fashion staple, sweatpants. The one wardrobe item I pretty much can't stand starts with a "b" and ends in "ra."
At age 11 or 12, I graduated from training bras to the kind with wires (which even SOUNDS terrible, doesn't it?!). My mom bought me a few pastel-colored underwire bras from Kohl's, and while I appreciated the support they gave, I hated the way they dug into my chest. I felt like I was legitimately trapped in a boob cage.
Then and now, I shunned heavy belts, tight skirts, and scratchy material. But as a lady with medium-sized tatas, I understand the necessity of a bra that really holds the girls in place. I thought underwires were my only option. It wasn't until I turned 21 that I discovered a very real, very amazing alternative.
I recall lying stomach-down on my bed and browsing Amazon on my phone about a month and a half ago. I was thinking about how awful my bra felt at work that day - I had yanked it off as soon as I got back to my apartment - and oh, how I wished there was some other bra that could work for me. I'm typically a size B or C, so forget those pretty lace garments that are nice to look at but provide no support. And sports bras? I'd argue they're even MORE restrictive than your average underwire bra. I can barely breathe in them, and I don't like the way they make my cleavage look. (Maybe that's why I rarely work out.)
I scrolled for a half hour or so until I came across the bra that changed my life: Warner's Women's Cloud 9 Wire-Free Contour Bra with Lift ($38). If you consider cloud nine a place where your boobs experience freedom but not too much freedom, Warner will take you there upon first snap of the clasp.
The 4.5-star ratings on Amazon are no joke, friends. One woman raves it's the best bra she owns: "I love this bra so much that I just paid twice as much for the second one (got the first on clearance). No wires, very soft and comfortable, doesn't bind anywhere, [and] just the right amount of padding. I forget I have it on!" You can get the bra in Sandshell or Expresso for just 21 bucks - which is a hell of a deal, if you ask me.
Since donning the best bra in existence, not once have I felt the painful - and painfully familiar - jab of pokey wire in my tender upper ribcage. I've been able to focus more at work and better enjoy life in general. And really, what more can a modern girl ask for?
Here are a few more of our editors' favorite comfortable and ultrasupportive bras for medium-sized gals:
Sam Claflin Reveals That He and His Wife Are Parents to a Baby Boy!
Sam Claflin and his wife, Laura Haddock, welcomed their first child last December, and now the Me Before You actor has revealed that they are parents to a son! Aside from that exciting news, he also recently gushed to People about how fatherhood has changed him. "I always thought, naively, that I knew what it would be like," he said. "I always thought that I'd understand. [But when he was] born, it's like another level of love. Of course it's hard, [but] it's all worth it. The rewards are just endless. He's literally the best thing that's ever happened to me."
While the couple never officially commented on their growing family, Laura did show off her adorable baby bump while walking the red carpet with Sam at the London premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire - Part 2 last November. Sam and Laura tied the knot in 2013 and have shared many swoon-worthy moments over the years. Congratulations again to the couple!

Look Back at Marilyn Monroe's Iconic Glamour in These 19 Gorgeous Photos
June 1 marks what would have been Marilyn Monroe's 90th birthday, and the Hollywood legend would have also been in pretty impressive company - Queen Elizabeth II, Tony Bennett, and Mel Brooks are all celebrating the milestone this year, as is Hugh Hefner, who coincidentally helped Marilyn shoot to stardom when he featured her as Playboy's first-ever Playmate of the Month back in December 1953. Born Norma Jeane Mortenson, Marilyn was placed in foster care at 7 years old and shuffled from family to family until agreeing to marry at the age of 16 so that she wouldn't have to return to an orphanage. She went on to transform herself from a soldier's wife and factory worker into Marilyn Monroe, a model and movie star.
Though Marilyn's life was cut short at the age of 36, the impact she left is undeniable. Not only does she live on in her films, but her iconic beauty, glamour, and body confidence have also inspired some of today's biggest stars, while also inadvertently serving as a tragic reminder of Hollywood's hidden pitfalls. In honor of Marilyn's lasting legacy, scroll through for some of her most gorgeous, memorable photos.

8 At-Home Remedies Your Grandma Swears By That Actually Work
Readers, it's time to thank your grandma. Those crazy Latin at-home remedies she showered on you when you were under the weather might have actually worked. In fact, Dr. Keith Roach, associate professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, says that even the rituals that don't have any scientific backing could work - just because you believe in them. "The placebo effect is powerful," he said.
While there are certain Latin cures the doctor advises you should skip when you're sick (like anything involving raw egg, which can carry salmonella, or a shot of alcohol, which can actually be dangerous to your liver during certain illnesses), he weighed in on why some of the most popular get-better-soon treatments that your grandma used actually, truly work. Keep reading to find the list, then check out the family beauty treatments that you should be trying.

Why Some Olympic Runners Swear By Compression Gear
FYI - your running gear might determine the outcome of your next long-distance race. Our friends at Shape looked at recent studies that attribute some major successes to the innovative compression technology. Here's what they learned.
Many runners of all levels and distances-like record-breaking marathoner and three-time Olympian Shalane Flanagan–swear by their compression socks, sleeves, shorts, and tights on race day. But does donning the spandex-like clothing have real performance and recovery benefits when it comes to running? A new meta-analysis might just have you convinced to run out (no pun intended!) and buy some for yourself.
The paper, published in the journal Sports Medicine, looked at 30 existing studies on compression gear and running performance and recovery across a variety of distances, including a half marathon, a 15K trail run, 5K and 10K runs, and a 400-meter sprint. The authors concluded that while compression garments had no significant impact on speed, there was an impact on endurance, and some serious post-run benefits too.
Specifically, they found small positive effects on the 'time to exhaustion', running economy, clearance of blood lactate, and markers of muscle damage and inflammation. They also reported large positive effects on post-exercise leg soreness and the delayed onset of muscle fatigue.
How exactly does compression gear do this? Well, it helps to improve the amount of blood that's flowing back to the heart from the legs while you're running, which can improve cardio output, explains Alice Perlowski, M.D., cardiologist and vascular medicine specialist, triathlete, and medical advisor to CEP compression. (More on that here: What Does Compression Clothing Really Do to Your Body?)
Compression gear also helps to keep all of your muscles and tissues snug and stabilized so they aren't bouncing around as much-which, over the course of, say, 26 miles, can add up and cause serious damage to the tissues, which in turn causes delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), Perlowski explains. (Find out Why Post-Workout Muscle Soreness Hits People at Different Times.)
Stabilizing the muscles can also help with form, says Harry Pino, Ph.D., senior exercise physiologist at NYU Langone's Sports Performance Center. "Runners tend to get sloppy at the end of a race-your posture starts drooping, you start losing form, and you use more of your hips and less of your glutes," Pino explains. And when that happens we start to lose running economy. Translation: Your body requires more fuel to travel the same number of miles. Wearing compression gear can help counteract this end-of-race exhaustion by mimicking the muscles and giving you that extra lift. And while studies have yet to show this translate directly into faster running times, all of this could help you pick up speed as you move through your stride, Pino says.
It's important to note that the meta-analysis also mentions 'perception.' Yep, studies have shown that the placebo effect can also be a powerful force when it comes to compression gear. (It makes sense-any runner knows that mental training can be just as crucial as the physical work.)
Even if you aren't a fan of actually running with it on, both Perlowski and Pino recommend wearing a knee-high compression sock post-run to help speed up recovery, since compression gear can help to diminish swelling, soreness and inflammation.
While more definitive research may be needed to determine just how much compression gear can truly help with your running performance, the heavy anecdotal evidence from athletes of all levels is pretty convincing, Pino argues. Not to mention, study after study proves it can only help, not hurt you, so it's certainly worth giving it a whirl. And hey, if you think it helps, isn't that all that matters anyway?

Everyone's Favorite Chewbacca-Masked Mom Just Visited Facebook
If you haven't seen it by now, a mom visited Kohl's, picked up a Chewbacca mask, and posted on Facebook Live a video of her hysterically laughing at the costume. 15 Things Incredibly Happy People Do
Life isn't always a walk in the park. So how do happy people get through a rough day? These tips are small things that happy people do to make life just a little bit better, and now you can too. Just remember: a smile is contagious, so don't forget to show off your pearly whites any chance you get.
1. They Turn Mistakes Into Lessons
As much as we try to strive for perfection, mistakes are an inevitable part of life. While it's easy to beat yourself up when a new job just isn't working out or a relationship falls apart, focusing on learning from what went wrong will help you turn a mistake into something productive. When something goes wrong, consider it an opportunity to grow and become an even better version of yourself.
2. They Go Offline
Obsessing over social media sites is a bad habit that we all have, but looking at pictures of other people's amazing vacations and delicious desserts isn't doing anything for you. Make a pact with yourself to unplug every day - you can read a book, call a friend, or even just choose to paint your nails - but just signing off allows you to live your life instead of watching other people live theirs.
3. They Don't Sweat the Small Stuff
Bad days happen. You spill coffee down your shirt running out the door, you accidentally overdraft a card. . . . There are plenty of instances where anger, disappointment, and anxiety are totally reasonable reactions, but they don't have to be your final reactions. Learning to let go of the little things you can't control will allow you to focus better on the positive aspects of life. While those small things totally suck, there's something great around the corner that is more worthy of your time and energy.
4. They Plan Getaways
Even if you can't afford a cross-continent trip, there are plenty of budget-friendly ways to get out there and see the world. Experiencing a new culture or food or a change in scenery is a great way to bring a little extra happiness into your life. Whether you book a trip alone or with a buddy, traveling helps you to create memories that you will never forget.
5. They Say Thank You
Saying thank you is an easy way to pay it forward and make everyone's day a little brighter. During a busy day, take a second to stop and be grateful for the small stuff. It may not come naturally, but in the long run, it really will increase your happiness. Whether it's a friendly checkout person at the drugstore or a co-worker who holds the elevator so you can jump in, there are plenty of opportunities to stop and appreciate the little things.
6. They Give Themselves a Break
Putting in long hours at the office is draining, but there's a little trick that will help you to be both happier and more productive: take a break. Even if you bring your own lunch, step out for a brisk walk around the block. Getting your body moving and taking your eyes off your screen will help you come back after just five minutes, feeling refreshed and ready to tackle whatever project is up next on the agenda.
7. They Turn a To-Do List Into a Game
Doing chores is not usually considered fun, but there are ways to transform busywork into something more exciting. The next time you need to tackle a bedroom cleanup, set a phone timer for 10 minutes and race against the clock to accomplish as much as you can while time ticks away. Ten minutes will be over before you know it, and in your haste to beat the clock, you'll find that a daunting task has disappeared before your eyes.
8. They Build Relationships
Maintaining friendships is an important part of leading a happy and full life. Whether you have a few close friends or a big social circle, keeping in contact and having a buddy to cheer you up can make a huge difference.
9. They Don't Blame the Past
Instead of dwelling on the things that went wrong in your past, make your time more meaningful by looking to the future. When you stay positive and think about the things you can accomplish, you're able to find peace with the things that may not have gone your way before.
10. They Fake It Till They Make It
Some days just start off bad, and from the moment you wake up, you really just want an excuse to stay under the covers. When you have no choice but to get up and face the day, try faking a smile through your morning routine.
11. They Take Chances
Instead of waiting for opportunities to fall into your lap, take control. Putting yourself out there can feel like a challenge, but once you take a risk, whether it's searching for a new job or asking a friend out on a date, you will be rewarded.
12. They Get Their Beauty Rest
Catching a few extra hours of ZZZ's can make a big difference. When you're feeling groggy or under the weather, it's hard to put your best foot forward. While you definitely shouldn't sacrifice your plans just to hit the hay, make sure you make time to catch up on your sleep.
13. They Get Moving
While a marathon may not be on the horizon, physical activity is an important part of leading a happier life. Working out releases endorphins and help you banish a blah mood for good.
14. They Are Honest
They say "honesty is the best policy," and when it comes to health and happiness, this couldn't be more true. Lies cause stress and anxiety, and life is too short not to live authentically.
15. They Don't Compare Themselves to Others
Everyone has their own path in life, and when you start to compare yours to others', you take focus away from personal progress. While jealousy can be hard to beat, learning to let go of how you stack up to others will ultimately help you to focus on your own successes.

5 Healthy Reasons to Have a Glass of Wine Tonight
It seems like no one can get enough of red wine, scientists included; every day there seems to be another study touting the amazing benefits of the plum-colored beverage. Lucky for us, the proof is in the long-stemmed glass (just one, since drinking more may be detrimental to your health). Here are five reasons unwinding with a glass of red after a long day should be on your list of to-dos - one reason for every workday!
- It's good for your heart: Antioxidants in red wine called flavonoids have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering LDL (bad cholesterol) levels and increasing the production of good cholesterol. According to researchers at the University of California, Davis, certain varietals have more concentrations of flavonoids than others. Of the most common red varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon has the most flavonoids, followed closely by Petite Sirah and Pinot Noir, then Merlot and Red Zinfandel.
- It can lower depression: While heavy drinking has been linked to mental health problems, drinking a glass of red wine a day may do the opposite. A recent study found that moderate drinkers (those who drank two to seven small glasses of wine a week) were less likely to suffer from depression than those who drank more or less.
- It can help your gut: That morning bowl of Greek yogurt isn't the only thing that's helping your gut. A study found that drinking red wine increases the amount of good bacteria levels in your digestive tract.
- It may help you lose fat: New research is studying the effects of piceatannol, a compound found in red wine that is converted from the antioxidant resveratrol, has on fat. A recent lab study found that piceatannol blocks fat cells from forming, and more studies are looking at how the compound can help us slim down.
- It can improve memory: Polyphenols, also found in tea, nuts, berries, and cocoa, can improve your memory and may also decrease the risk of Alzheimer's disease.
