While you might typically sip on a cold pressed juice first thing in the AM, sometimes the frigid temps make our usual liquid produce a little less appealing. Instead of opting for a sugary latte or hot cocoa, more and more cafés are offering warming wellness elixirs. We've seen the trend begin to emerge with golden milk, which has slowly began to creep into café menus all over, alongside other hot, healing tonics. 13 SAG Awards Dresses That Made Us Go "Damn, Girl"
The SAG Awards might not be the show that comes to mind when you think of fashionable red carpets - we bet it's the Oscars or the Golden Globes - but don't be so quick to dismiss the night. Stars actually bring out some of their most risqué gowns on this red carpet.
Do you remember, for example, Eva Longoria's down-to-there backless dress at the 2016 awards? Or Penéleope Cruz's classic black velvet gown with a graphic neckline from 2009? How about Sofia Vergara's silver-sequined number in 2014? Those and more made our list of most memorable looks at SAG Awards past. Look ahead to check them out, then tune in to the 2017 show on Jan. 29.
When You See Miranda Kerr's Bridesmaid Dress, You'll Think "Genius Choice"
No one wants to spend a couple hundred dollars on a bridesmaid dress she'll never wear again. You want one that not only works for the wedding, but after, too - a piece you can rewear on dates or to other parties. Miranda Kerr hit the jackpot in a sweet eyelet maxi at her brother's wedding. As one of the bridesmaids, the model wore a white dress with delicate lace embroidery and a colorful floral crown. The casual piece looked like something Miranda could've lifted right out of her closet, but it was still an appropriate choice for the wedding in Australia.
We can't help but thank Miranda for finding this unconventional bridesmaid pick because it's a style that won't lose its staying power. The summery piece worked for her brother's ceremony and we can totally see Miranda rewearing the dress - perhaps on a tropical honeymoon with fiancé Evan Spiegel? Scroll to see Miranda's number from all angles before shopping for similar options.

Selena Gomez's Street Style Looks Can Teach You a Thing or 2 About Dressing Sexy
Selena Gomez's red carpet appearances and Instagram feed aren't the only sexy things about the singer and actress. Her street style deserves a spot on that list, too.
The jean cutoffs and low-cut dresses, the crop tops and sexy heels, the short hems and tight curve-showing swimsuits - they are all pieces Selena wears out and about on her days off that ooze the same, if not more, sensuality than any backless, shimmery, mermaid gown she could sport to an award show.
Though we might not all be able to get our hands on Selena's everyday designer garb, we can surely learn a lot about dressing sexy from her best street style. Here are 17 tips you need to live by.

You're Not Going to Believe Ryan Gosling's Reason For Why He Likes Working With Emma Stone
Award-season darling La La Land may have ended up being one of your favorite movies of 2016, and there are two people largely responsible for that: Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. The musical marks the third time the stars have worked together, and after the movie debuted at TIFF back in September, the actors were asked about their obvious affinity for working together during a Q&A with the audience. With TIFF taking place in Toronto, Canadian actor Gosling had a regional-appropriate quip ready to go. Here's what the two said (or, more appropriately, joked) about working together and how they honed their singing and dancing skills for the film.
On what it was like to work with Emma Stone for the third time:
Emma Stone: Goodnight [pretends to walk away]. What was it like, Ryan?
Ryan Gosling: Well, I like working with Emma, because I think she's secretly Canadian. That's why we get along so well. She's wildly apologetic for no reason at all.
ES: Sorry about that.
On the singing and dancing:
ES: We rehearsed for almost three months for it. A lot of dancing, a lot of singing. We had to learn to tap and ballroom dance, which was wonderful - we had an amazing choreographer in Mandy Moore, who is just a genius. She's unbelievable. She was really just so patient with us. Literally took us step by step through the entire thing. So we were very lucky in that sense.
RG: We had wonderful coaches and a wonderful team of people around us. And really beautiful music to do it to. I had to play a lot of piano for those three months. When I first met Damien [Chazelle], we didn't really meet about this movie, we just talked. He talked about how he wanted to make films that you wanted to see in a theater with an audience. Not something you can watch on your iPhone. He was dreaming very big and it was exciting. When I got home, he emailed me the theme from the film, the love theme. I thought it was beautiful then, I think it's beautiful now. I played it more times than I can say to you, and I never got sick of it. So for me it was a treat to just practice on this film because we got to work with all this beautiful music and these wonderful people. I feel very honored to be a part of it.

8 Major Things You Can Expect to See in Fifty Shades Darker
It feels like it's been forever since Fifty Shades of Grey hit theaters, leaving a massive hole in our lives because we didn't get to see Christian Grey chase after Anastasia Steele after she shouted "No!" before those elevator doors closed. And with a month to go until the franchise's second installment, Fifty Shades Darker, comes out, that satisfying feeling of seeing Jamie Dornan on the big screen again is getting closer by the day. While the first movie just scratched the surface of the complex emotions behind Christian's beautiful eyes (and controlling behavior), Darker will give new meaning to the phrase, "What the actual f*ck." We've already seen tons of steamy set photos and trailers, but just in case you need more to satisfy your "non-vanilla" craving until then, here are eight major things that you expect to see in Darker February.
1. Ana and Christian's lives fall apart without each other. While the end of Fifty Shades of Grey left fans (who didn't read the books) with a little bit of hope that Christian might stop the elevator and make things right again, that's not at all what happens. Ana and Christian don't speak for days after she leaves, which causes both of their lives to slightly unravel. Ana starts her new job as a personal assistant to Jack Hyde, a big-time book publisher, but her grief causes her to stop eating, lose weight, and not properly function in everyday life.
2. They then get back together. After Ana and Christian both attend a photo gallery exhibit for her friend José (the one that has a massive crush on her), they kiss in an alleyway and pick up right where they left off.
3. Christian screws with Ana's career. Throughout their romance, Ana insists that she wants to make her own way in the publishing word without relying on Christian or his money. So when he buys the company that she currently works for because he doesn't trust Jack (he also freezes the company's accounts so Ana and Jack can't go on a business trip together), Ana is furious.
4. Christian's instincts about Jack turn out to be spot on. It becomes very clear very quickly that Jack is an inappropriate and dangerous boss. In addition to continuously asking Ana out for after-work drinks and making her uncomfortable by invading her personal space, he also ends up cornering her in their office one night to try and blackmail her. He presents her with her personal emails with Christian that she sent on her work computer and threatens to expose her if she doesn't give him sexual favors. He then assaults her before she manages to escape. Christian has him fired and confiscates his work computer.
5. We finally meet "Mrs. Robinson." Elena Lincoln, who will be played by Kim Basinger, comes face to face with Ana when they all attend a masquerade ball at the Grey's house together. When Elena finally realizes that Christian is in love with Ana and doesn't see her as just a submissive, she becomes short with Ana and tries to sabotage their romance out of jealousy.
6. A dangerous stalker is thrown into the mix. While Jack presents his own problems for Ana, it's one of Christian's former submissives, Leila Williams (played by Bella Heathcote), that really takes things up a notch in Darker. After Leila's boyfriend dies in a car crash, she has a mental breakdown and becomes obsessed with Ana and her former relationship with Christian. She begins to stalk Ana and eventually breaks into her apartment and threatens her at gunpoint. Christian shows up and talks her down, but the whole situation has Ana worried that Christian won't be satisfied with their "vanilla" relationship.
7. Christian proposes to Ana. When Christian fears Ana may be leaving him again, he quickly proposes to her. She says she needs time to think about it and he leaves on a business trip in his helicopter, Charlie Tango. The helicopter then disappears from radar and Christian is missing for several hours, but when he returns to his apartment safely, he tells his family that both the helicopter's engines failed and he thinks someone was trying to kill him. Because Ana thought he had died, she realizes she wants to be with him forever and accepts his proposal.
8. Jack Hyde is not done. After Ana accepts Christian's proposal, his family throws him a party for his 28th birthday at their home. Jack, however, is watching the entire thing from outside, and in addition to revealing he sabotaged the helicopter, he also swears revenge on Christian because they are connected in more ways than one.
I Dressed Like Taylor Swift For a Week - and These Were the Results
To say I'm a Taylor Swift fan might be putting it mildly: her tunes have helped me through plenty of heartbreaks, I'm still kinda POed at Katy Perry, and I consider the night my nosebleed concert seats were upgraded - for free! - to the stage's pit area one of the best times of my life. But another thing I admire about this leader of the fiercest girl group ever? Her ability to pull off a plethora of different styles, from cutout jumpsuits to feminine day dresses.
So when I realized that my own wardrobe was filled with similar pieces, I put myself to the test. Would I be able to re-create a few of Ms. Swift's best looks on my own 5'0" body then rock them for a week? Well, I tried my best and later snapped some photos in Taylor's TriBeCa 'hood in New York for the full effect. Keep reading to see how I channeled this star, then shop the pieces you'll need to do the same.
This Gender Reveal Party Fail Would Be Utterly Hilarious If It Didn't Make the Mom So Upset
It's not what any expecting couple imagines will happen when they hand-deliver a secret envelope to a party store employee with a simple gender-reveal request: if the card states "boy," put blue balloons in the box, and if it reads "girl," put pink ones in.
"We invited 30 friends and family over for a lovely brunch and gender reveal party for our new baby," Joe Krummel wrote on a YouTube caption for a video from their big box-opening reveal of sorts. "It was simple . . . or so we thought!"
Unfortunately for the couple, they handed that card to the wrong person. The video, which first shows a clearly eager mom-to-be, Leela Krummel, kissing her husband before they both open the giant pink-and-blue box, is quickly going viral for what might be the most emotionally confusing few seconds of a pregnant woman's life. As they open the box, instead of pink or blue balloons, a medley of rainbow balloons emerge.
Everyone in the audience laughs, and for a minute, Leela's confusion looks comical . . . until you see her utter devastation for not being able to find out something they'd clearly been anticipating for a long time.
"The whole party was ruined by a party store with an incompetent balloon employee who clearly had no idea what a gender reveal party is," Joe said.
In the end, they found the card and, in anticlimactic fashion, opened it to discover they were having a boy. Sure, it wasn't as cinematic a reveal, but it's just as memorable!

14 of the Most Highly Anticipated TV Shows of 2017
18 New Midseason TV Shows to Have on Your Radar in 2017
1. It's Based on a Book
First published in 1985, The Handmaid's Male is a dystopian novel by Margaret Atwood. It's considered a classic and has never gone out of print since its first publish date.
2. It's Got Some Pretty Heavy Subject Matter
So what is it about? The tale is set in the future, depicting a totalitarian regime in a post-United States New England; this settlement is called the Republic of Gilead. The narrative hinges on the oppression of women; they are not allowed to read, and main character Offred can only leave the house once a day to go to the local food market. Value in female characters is placed most emphatically on their ability to bear children, so Offred must lay down once a month and pray she gets pregnant. It's not long, though, before these women begin to discover their own agency in exciting and interesting ways.
3. The Cast Is Pretty Legit
Elisabeth Moss will portray lead character Offred, and she's got support from Alexis Bledel, Samira Wiley (Orange Is the New Black), Yvonne Strahovski (Dexter), and Joseph Fiennes.
4. This Isn't the First Adaptation
Hulu's not the first to attempt to bring The Handmaid's Tale to life. There's a 1990 film adaptation starring Natasha Richardson, Faye Dunaway, and Robert Duvall.
5. There's Already a Totally Bonkers Trailer
If all of the aforementioned tidbits weren't enough to get you excited, consider the first teaser trailer, which seems rich with drama and stunning visual imagery.
6. It's Coming Very Soon
The Handmaid's Tale will be available on Hulu starting April 26.

How to Achieve Social Media Stardom, According to Instagram's Most Fashionable Dog
Instagram is my ultimate addiction, filling me with joy from its endless memes and dog photos - but let's be real, mostly dog photos. Though there's a plethora of Instagram-famous dogs to follow, by far my favorite is Bodhi, an adorable Shiba Inu and the star of Menswear Dog. I'll be the first to admit that Bodhi is 100 percent more photogenic and fashionable than I, as he flawlessly poses for photos wearing jackets, hats, and sunglasses from designers like Gucci and Ralph Lauren.
To lean more about the story behind this dapper dog's internet fame, we spoke with Yena Kim, Bodhi's owner and the creative genius who spurred the pup's social media stardom. Kim explained that the idea to start Menswear Dog came about on a whim one rainy Saturday morning in their home of Brooklyn, NY. "Bodhi peered up at me and as a joke, I draped a cardigan over him, fully expecting him to shrug it off like a dog normally would," she explained to us via email. "But instead, he saw how it made me laugh and a smile cracked across his face as though he knew how amazing he looked." Naturally, she ran for a camera to capture the perfect moment.
After snapping a few photos that her friend uploaded to a Tumblr page, Kim noticed that the pictures were featured on GQ's website, and thus Bodhi was thrust into life of Instagram prestige. Since then, Yena and the Menswear Dog have become quite the jetsetters, having traveled to Los Angeles for the World Dog Awards and Vancouver for a recent brand collaboration.
"I think the best pet Instagrams successfully highlight what's unique about the dog and are given an original voice."
What a life, right? If you're a dog owner seeking to catapult your furry friend to internet stardom, Kim has some helpful words of wisdom to share. "I think the best pet Instagrams successfully highlight what's unique about the dog and are given an original voice," she told us. "Is you dog a complainer? Does your dog make the best mess in the world while you're away? Chances are, there are thousands of people that can relate, and it's always best to translate that shared empathy into quality original content." Another pro tip to keep in your back pocket: "Have peanut butter on hand."
As if you really need another excuse to follow the fashionable adventures of Bodhi, read on for a peek at our favorite photos of him to date.
23 Signs Your Kid Has a Bad Attitude
Although having a strong-willed child can be exhausting at times, it can also mean you're raising a pretty incredible human being. However, there's a difference between being confident in expressing their opinion and just having a bad attitude. It's equally important to keep in mind that just because your kiddo doesn't have perfect manners doesn't instantly make him or her a brat. But if you notice that your kid is quick to say no, usually assumes the worst, and takes some convincing to try new things (usually before being pleasantly surprised!), you might be dealing with a child who has a negative demeanor. Before you can help your little one learn to see the big picture and approach situations with a positive mindset, you need to first recognize that there may be an issue. Check out these 23 signs that your kid needs an attitude adjustment ASAP.

MAC Cosmetics's Newest Lipstick Launch Is For Beauty Junkies Who Aren't Afraid to Get Weird
Yes, we've seen a surge in the popularity of blue pouts in recent months, but overall, it seems like the lipstick landscape is pretty neutral. Thanks to the Kylie Lip Kit phenomenon, flesh- or mauve-toned lips have taken over, leaving the weirdos among us yearning for someone to hear our desperate pleas for unusual shades. We don't just mean navy, black, or gray - we're talking hues like chartreuse, electric turquoise, and yellow.
Thankfully, MAC is debuting a hugely satisfying lipstick range designed to feed the souls of the unusual lipstick lovers out there. Launching in February, the 28-piece ColourRocker Lipstick collection only features crazy colors - and all are matte! While it's hard to pick a favorite, we're particularly fond of Mean Green Machine (a hunter hue) and City Slick, a superunexpected pale beige. Read on to see them all for yourself.

A Series of Unfortunate Events: These Are the Books Covered in Netflix's TV Show
If you've been eagerly anticipating Netflix's adaptation of Lemony Snicket's beloved novels in A Series of Unfortunate Events, we have some good news: the show does the books justice and then some. The first season covers books one, two, three, and four out of the 13-part saga, leaving plenty of material left to pull from in season two. Unlike the 2004 movie, which jumbled up the plot from the first three books, Netflix's series devotes two episodes each for every one book, ensuring that the story is fleshed out and fully realized.
Not only does the show nail the storylines, but Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf and newcomers Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes as Violet and Klaus Baudelaire are exceptional, and the rest of the cast is equally overflowing with talent. Between their performances and some interesting tweaks to the original plot, fans of the novels will fall in love with the show in no time. Keep reading to get a refresh on the basic plot of each book!
Pickle Enthusiasts Are Going to Freak Out Over This NYC Eatery
Growing up Jewish in New York City suburbs, pickles have been a staple of my diet for many years. There's nothing like the crunchy, crisp, sour taste of a New York deli pickle. Food is such an enormous part of Jewish culture that as a kid, my Hebrew school took me on a field trip to the historically Jewish section of Manhattan, the Lower East Side, and picking up some pickles was a mandatory part of our Jewish historical education. Today, I'd imagine that The Pickle Guys, a Kosher pickle store in the Lower East Side, is a stop on many Hebrew school field trips and should be a stop on your visit too.
The Pickle Guys is located at the Corner of Grand and Essex Streets, a location with a long history of hosting kosher pickle vendors (it used to be referred to as the pickle district). The Pickle Guys, owned by Alan Kaufman, is the last pickle vendor left on the historical Essex Street. Fans of the tasty snack are flocking to the store to buy the barrel-housed morsels. If you're picky about your pickles, The Pickle Guys have the ultimate menu for you. Their offerings include: new pickles, sour pickles, half sour pickles, hot new pickles, three-quarter sour pickles, horseradish pickles, sweet gherkins, and bread and butter pickles.
It's possible that the recent trend of pickled products has even increased the popularity of my favorite snack. Recipes for pickle soup are appearing online and pickle popcorn and pickle chips have been popping up at grocery stores throughout the country. On your next visit to New York, I highly recommend adding the Lower East Side to your list of places to visit, especially to pick up some fresh pickles. In the meantime, take a look at all the pickles available at The Pickle Guys.
Why 1 Dad Thinks Sometimes "Ignoring" His Kid Makes Him a Better Parent
The following was written for The Fatherly Forum, a community of parents and influencers with insights about work, family, and life.
The guilt gets to me sometimes.
All those (allegedly) happy, (allegedly) well-adjusted kids on the sitcoms and my Facebook newsfeed, all those bubbly looking families in Cooking Light, splashing around in-ground pools, camping in elysian fields, playing touch-football in front of huge, white clapboard houses, even the one-year-old's giggling like little heaven-kissed angels (instead of screaming their ever-lovin' heads off per the uzhe) – it all makes me nauseous.
Every time I see a commercial, an ad, or an oh-so-cute-it-hurts Facebook pic with fun-filled kids in it, I think, "My family could do that!" But then I go grab another beer and put my feet back up. Sure, my familial triumvirate (Mom, son, and Dad/me) could – most middle-class families can – but there's beer in the fridge and football on the tube, and, gosh, this couch is really, really comfy …
Screw you. I've earned it. I've earned the right to do nothing, to "recharge my battery," as I like to say. I work full-time, and with my wife by my side I'm raising a 5-year-old. I barely have enough energy to walk to the fridge and back on weekends let alone go camping or toss the pigskin. Er, the Nerf-skin.
Well, I suppose we could play a little catch out back, but then I'd have to let him tackle me, and then the weed-killing chemicals on our lawn would make me itchy, and then I'd start acting annoyed, and then my wife would give me a look and my son would start whining, and then it would all be just one big mess. Might be better if I just keep sitting here and keep watching the game. *sip*
Don't roll your eyes. I'm really big on love languages. They make a lot of sense.
But the guilt.
It's a powerful motivator, this kind of naturally forming shame for our thoughts and actions (or, in the case of parenthood, inactions). It can help us improve our lives, inspire us to eat healthier, make more conscientious decisions at work, be kinder to everyone and to our loved ones especially.
Guilt can also warp our brains.
By playing catch with my son, or by taking my family camping or swimming, would I be doing something I truly wanted to do, or would I be acquiescing, like the good little lab rat that I am, to what the mainstream media apparatus relentlessly guilts me into doing (which is, typically, to buy something)?
The answer likely depends on how well you know yourself. I'm 45, and while I know that I know this Anthony Mariani character better now than I did when I was younger, I still have a lot of stuff left to figure out, starting with my role as a father. A great way to begin lurching toward some species of clarity, I've discovered, is by enumerating facts: that I am aware that time flies and that my son is not going to be his super-adorable little self forever, not even for a few more years, and that I am going to miss this precious little love muffin when we're both older; that I do not want to be like my parents, who rarely ever spent time with me on my level when I was a child; and that, when I focus and engage The Now, I almost always have a ball with my special boy.
Are my "facts" based on the perceptions of a middle-aged, middle-class Westerner shaped by capitalism and the media? Probably, but I don't need to sit through a dozen lectures in postmodern post colonialism or read any Foucault to know that I don't want to be a dick, especially to my son and wife.
I've earned the right to do nothing, to "recharge my battery," as I like to say.
As some smart people said a long time ago, "Moderation in all things." If you're anal-retentive, like me, use a watch. Play with your kid for 30 minutes; spend some time alone for 30. Or some time with your spouse. For longer. It all depends on your family's love languages. Don't roll your eyes. I'm really big on love languages. They make a lot of sense. As my wife and I figured out a long time ago, my love language is affection; hers, acts of service. With our son, the dynamic is slightly different.
The love language between him and me is imaginative play or simple engagement (making art together, reading, playing touch-football on our chemically enhanced lawn), and between him and my wife, it's affection. Of course the overarching love language – the most important in any relationship or family, the one that inheres in all the others – is time, which includes just being together, just breathing the same air as one another, maybe with Dad watching football while enjoying a cold, frosty adult beverage (or 5), and with Mom cleaning (my wife cleans like a germophobe on crack), and with the kid playing independently or with his or her siblings. (The little ones need alone time, too.) As long as "nothing" isn't all your family does, sometimes doing nothing is just fine.
And today just so happens to be one of those days when nothing is all I want to do. *sip* Ahhh.
The Unexpected Skin Care Product That Will Instantly Make Your Lips Plump
Recently Kate Synnott, a celebrity makeup artist on Charlotte Tilbury's talented team, was giving me a mini facial and swiped some eye cream on . . . my lips. What?! I've used hand cream in my hair, blush on my eyelids, and a bevy of other unexpected product hacks. But this trick was brand new to my beauty information-saturated ears.
"Put eye cream on your lips to hydrate them, because you've got thinner skin around the lip area," Synnott explained. "The cream is more delicate. Whatever is good for the eyes is good for around the mouth and just on top of the lips to hydrate."
She informed me to leave it on like a mask and now to follow up with any lip balm on top. So I did this overnight, and when I woke up (in the dead of Winter), my pout felt surprisingly soft.
This beauty secret is one Synnott uses on her celebrity clients (and brides!). "It's actually really great one to use before lipstick because it absorbs in," she said. "If you put lip balm on before lipstick, then it's quite slide-y. It stops that from happening."
We prepped my pout with Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue ($60), and Synnott explained why this is a great pick.
"For lip hydration, hyaluronic acid is the best and all of our products contain hyaluronic acid," she noted. "It floods the skin with moisture so it can hold up to 1,000 times what the skin already has. And it draws all of the moisture to the surface of the skin."
Kids, try this at home the eve before your Valentine's Day date for a seriously snog-worthy pucker!
8 Disturbing Bombshells From Leah Remini's Scientology Documentary Series
Image Source: Getty / Noam Galai
When you think of Scientology, a few people probably come to mind: Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Leah Remini. While Cruise and Travolta are partly known for their unwavering devotion to the "church," Remini publicly split from Scientology in 2013. After having doubts about things the church was doing and questioning the church's leader, David Miscavige (which is apparently a big no-no), about the unknown whereabouts of his wife, the actress had had enough.
In addition to speaking out about her experiences with interviews and a book, Remini decided to dive even further into uncovering the church's corrupt reality with her A&E documentary series, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath. On the show, she travels around the country with Mike Rinder, Scientology's former senior executive and one of Miscavige's right-hand men, to talk to former church members about the horrors they allegedly endured over the years (the church denies all claims made in the show). See the biggest bombshells below, which include forced abortion and physical abuse.
- The church's leader, David Miscavige, reportedly beats his staff. Several former church members have spoken out on the show about the physical abuse they endured at the hands of Miscavige (he's 5'1", by the way). All of the situations they described include the church leader's attitude changing at the drop of a hat and him punching, shoving, and choking them in front of other Scientology staff members. Whenever someone even looked like they were about to fight back, a group of Miscavige's men would swoop in and immediately remove that person from the building. One former church member, Jeff Hawkins, recalled that Miscavige looked at him after physically assaulting him and said, "Do you know why I did that? To remind you who's boss."
- Women in the Sea Org are reportedly forced to have abortions if they get pregnant. In the show's fifth episode, Remini sits down with Marc Headley, a former event coordinator and video producer for Scientology, and his wife, Claire, a former Sea Org member. While working in the Sea Org, a now-land-based organization of the church's most dedicated members that control management operations, and living at the church's international headquarters in Hemet, CA, Claire became pregnant with their first child. But since Claire alleges that Scientology thinks women in the Sea Org who get pregnant actively want to leave, she was forced to get an abortion. "If a woman got pregnant, she would instantly be scheduled to go and get an abortion," she said. "If she refused in any manner, she would be segregated, not allowed to speak with her husband, put under security watch, put on heavy manual labor, and interrogated for her crimes." Marc and Claire managed to narrowly escape the church (he says he was run off the road by church members in an SUV; she says she snuck out of Walmart and hopped on a bus), but that will never take away their pain. "I can go, 'Well, now I have three beautiful children who are my life,'" she continued. "But it doesn't make me feel better about not being strong enough to tell them to go f*ck themselves."

- Despite escaping the church, some people are reportedly still tracked down and brought back. Claire and Marc also went into detail about the heavy security that Sea Org members are reportedly under when they live at the base in Hemet. In addition to security cameras being everywhere, their outgoing mail is always read before being sent, they are on strict meal schedules, and the fence that surrounds the property has large spikes on both sides, which prevents anyone from entering or leaving. Claire revealed that when her friend tried to escape, she fell in a ditch outside the property and was brought right back in by church members and put on heavy labor duty. She also said she knew one member who fled all the way to South Africa, where he was tracked down and brought back.
- Private investigators reportedly hired by Scientology followed Remini during the filming of the show. In the fifth episode of the show, Remini and Rinder are driving when they notice a suspicious-looking car close by. After signaling to the car several times that he can pass, he refuses. When they pull up next to him and ask him who he is, he says he works for TMZ, but suspiciously doesn't have a camera and quickly drives away. When they then pull into their hotel, two men are sitting in the lobby with their phones pointed at Remini's car. The hotel manager asks if they are guests, and they both quickly get up to leave. Rinder confronts them, they act like they don't know anything, and Remini later reveals that one of the men is a private investigator (oh, and the TMZ guy was driving the PI's wife's car).
- Church members will spend thousands of dollars trying to reach the highest level of spirituality in Scientology. Scientology was founded by a man named L. Ron Hubbard, who believed that you need to clear yourself of your "reactive mind" in order to advance up "the Bridge of Total Freedom." People do this through auditing sessions, where a Scientology auditor asks the person a series of questions while they hold two metal cans attached to a machine. The machine tells the auditor if the person is telling the truth, and in order to continue to grow spiritually, church members have to pay for expensive courses in order to improve. It also should be noted that Hubbard holds the Guinness World Record for most published works by one author (and they're mostly science fiction) . . .
- If you leave the church, you will most likely lose your entire family. If a member of the church speaks out against Scientology or decides to leave, they will be labeled a "suppressive person" (watch Tom Cruise talk about it at the 4:29 mark). If the rest of that person's family is still in the church, they will be pressured to disconnect from that person, which means cutting off all communication and essentially never seeing them again.
- David Miscavige reportedly told private investigators to let his father die. David's father, Ron, was the one who got his son involved in Scientology when he was a young boy. But after years in the church and being heavily monitored while living at the base in Hemet, Ron and his wife, Becky, decided to plan their escape. In episode four of the show, Ron told Remini that he knew he needed to get out after he walked by his son one day and decided to say hello. "Dave looked at me and I knew that I had done the wrong thing," he said. "By calling him Dave," Remini clarified, to which he replied, "Yes." After Ron and Becky finally escaped, his son hired private investigators to follow him, one of whom was brought in for questioning by police and revealed everything. According to Ron, the investigator told police that when they saw Ron have what appeared to be a heart attack (he was simply holding his cell phone in place in his chest pocket), they called David to see if they should intervene, but David replied, "If it's my father's time to die, let him die."
- Scientologists believe they have the cure for mental illness. In the show's season finale, Leah sat down with Brandon Reisdorf, a former church member who suffers from bipolar disorder. At the time of their interview, Brandon was in psychiatric care but his family agreed to let him tell his story. While Brandon said he's doing much better now that he's in the care of actual doctors, he detailed his horrific time in the church. After one of his mental breakdowns, the church decided to give him an "introspection rundown," or what they think is the cure for mental illness. It involves locking the person in a room until their "episode" passes, which they think means their body is rid of the illness for good. Scientologists are also well-known for hating psychology and thinking you can treat mental illness with vitamins and intense auditing sessions (as seen in this infamous Tom Cruise interview with Matt Lauer).

The 1 Thing That's Making Your Roasted Vegetables Soggy - and How to Fix It
Roasting vegetables is one of the easiest and most flavorful ways to prepare them . . . if you do it right. If you've ever roasted veggies only to be disappointed by their soggy texture, there's a simple reason that happened and an easy way to fix it: you might be overcrowding the sheet pan. Just like couples in a fight, vegetables need space. It's tempting to cram as many potatoes or brussels sprouts on a pan as possible (who wants to do more dishes or make two separate batches, am I right?), but avoiding overcrowding the pan is the difference between a successful side dish and a lackluster one. It's simple - crowded foods don't brown.
Crowding vegetables after drizzling them with olive oil, from broccoli to butternut squash, causes them to steam rather than roast. The same rule goes for browning meat in a skillet; you won't get the crispy exterior you're after if all of your chicken is touching each other with no space in between. When my boyfriend asked me, "What did you do differently than I do? These are the best brussels sprouts I've ever had," I realized not everyone knows this transformative trick. With just a little more effort - making sure there's enough open space instead of dumping a whole pile of diced veggies on your pan - you'll be on your way to the best roasted vegetables of your life, too.
It's OK to Listen to Ryan Gosling Sing "City of Stars" Over and Over
If you've already seen La La Land, chances are good that you've been weak in the knees listening to Ryan Gosling's first track from the film. "City of Stars" recently won the Golden Globe for best original song, and it's available on Spotify. This is great news, because all you have to do is hit that little loop button to hear it over and over all day long. Beware, though: it might lull you into a beautiful, Gosling-dream-filled sleep (which is clearly the best-case scenario, right?).
Fifty Shades Darker: Every Member of the Star-Studded Cast
Fifty Shades of Grey mania is heating up again! The trailers for Fifty Shades Darker have revealed a movie that looks far more (in one editor's opinion) interesting movie than it's predecessor. While we already know a lot about the film, it's not being released until next month, meaning we have weeks to go. What we do know is which actors are returning from the first movie, and who the newbies are. Check it out!

Sculpt and Strengthen Your Arms With This 3-Week Challenge
Everyone has their own reasons for wanting strong, defined arms; we're here to help. After following this 21-day arm plan, not only will your arms look toned - you'll also be stronger. First thing's first: don't worry if you've never lifted a dumbbell in your life. This arm challenge was designed with everyone in mind - whether it's your first time working out or you're at the gym on a daily basis.
Getting started: The challenge consists of five basic exercises that help to target all the areas of your arms. Over the course of the challenge, you will increase the number of reps you're doing of each exercise, eventually working up to three sets of 15 reps for each exercise.
Below is an explanation of how to do each of the five exercises, followed by the plan itself. Choosing the appropriate size weight is key here - you want one that fatigues your muscles by the end of the three sets. If the challenge ever feels too easy, that's your cue to increase the weight of the dumbbells (and if you find you are fatiguing too early, decrease the weight amount). Beginners should start the plan with five-pound weights, and for you more-experienced lifters, make this challenge work for you by grabbing a heavier set.

7 Compelling Theories For American Horror Story Season 7
The season finale of American Horror Story: Roanoke dropped all the way back in November, which means this is officially the longest we've had to wait between seasons of the show. Per usual, we're going a little crazy trying to anticipate when we'll get new information about the next chapter of the subversive anthology series. This week, we managed to get a few crumbs. Thanks to Ryan Murphy, we know two of the confirmed stars plus a handful of small details about what's to come. But as is customary with the show, we're nowhere nearer to learning what the season will be about. As such, it's time for one of our favorite parts of the AHS life cycle: speculation. Here's where we think season seven could go.

Even If You Haven't Seen Hidden Figures, You're Going to Live for the Soundtrack
Hidden Figures is smashing through the January box office, and despite not winning the Golden Globes it was nominated for, there's plenty of fanfare for the historical drama. The rave reviews are due in no small part to the soundtrack, by Pharrell Williams. Janelle Monáe, who stars in the film, and a handful of modern artists also appear on a few tracks. While the official soundtrack only contains 10 songs, we've included more here that you'll hear in the movie itself. Check it out!
Taraji P. Henson and Jussie Smollett Are the Smoldering New Faces of MAC Viva Glam
Empire fans lost their minds earlier this year when MAC Cosmetics tapped Taraji P. Henson for a limited-edition collection. In fact, the line sold out so quickly, not even Taraji's mom was able to snap up any of the items! Now, the star is bringing her star power - and Empire colleague Jussie Smollett - to another launch for MAC.
In February 2017, Jussie and Taraji will be the newest faces of the legendary MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam campaign. Since 1994, 100 percent of the proceeds from the purchase of any MAC Viva Glam product has gone to the MAC AIDS Fund. This important organization addresses the link between poverty and HIV/AIDS by supporting a wide range of international groups and providing services to those living with the illness.
These two actors join an illustrious list of celebrities, including Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and RuPaul, who have all fronted the important campaign. For her collaboration, Taraji has selected a vibrant, cool-toned raspberry matte lipstick with a pearlescent quality, along with a coordinating gloss. You'll be able to snag them both Feb. 2 both in stores and on maccosmetics.com. Read on to see them up close!
The 1 Thing Jason Momoa Wants to Try With His Clothes ON
2017 is shaping up to be Jason Momoa's best year yet. Between the Jan. 20 debut of his new Netflix show, Frontier, the highly anticipated release of Justice League in the Fall, and the start of filming his standalone superhero blockbuster, Aquaman, Momoa has a lot on his plate . . . and luckily for us, that's exactly how he likes it.
During a fun interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor got real about his past roles, present projects, and future goals; including why he might be hiding his abs sometime soon. (Awwwwww man!) Check out some enlightening excerpts from the interview below, then read the full story for more details.
- On being selective with his acting: "I haven't been an actor who's been able to pick and choose roles, and being a family man, it's been about putting food on the table. This has been the best moment of my career because the superhero roles are letting me get the other roles I want."
- On his deep connection to his latest Netflix character: "He's half Irish and half native, as am I, so it really resonated with me . . . When you find out that he's lost his family, when you pull back each layer, it was a beautiful place to go as an actor. I've never played anything like that before."
- On his acting career bucket-list: "I would love to do comedy. I can't wait to be in a tracksuit in an office space, not covered in blood - and with my clothes on."
Who Is Responsible For Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Hilarie Burton's Love? Jensen Ackles, Of Course
When Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Hilarie Burton first got together in 2009, did you say to yourself, "Wait, what?" or "I didn't see that one coming." If you did, you're not alone. The two, who are probably married, seemed to be running in slightly different Hollywood circles at the time. Jeffrey was known for his role on Grey's Anatomy and recently ended his engagement to Weeds star Mary Louise Parker, while Hilarie was still starring in One Tree Hill and recently divorced Ian Prange, an assistant director on the show. But their two worlds did have one common denominator: the CW. Jeffrey had previously starred in Supernatural alongside Jensen Ackles, who's then-girlfriend (now wife), Danneel Harris, was starring alongside Hilarie in OTH. So after both stars found themselves single, Jensen took it upon himself to make some moves.
Just hangin with Pops. #VegasCon http://pic.twitter.com/Jt1Eomggzu
- Jensen Ackles (@JensenAckles) March 15, 2015
In an interview with HuffPost Live in 2015, Jeffrey opened up about his costar setting them up on a blind date, and the story will basically turn you into mush. "I happened to be single and Jensen said, 'I've got a girl you should meet,'" the Walking Dead star explained. "So I went to a bar and I met Hilarie at a bar with Jensen and Danneel, and the rest is history." After the host asked how he dealt with the stress of a blind date, Jeffrey admitted he had a few drinks to loosen up. "I [got a little too lit]. We all did," he continued. "We ended up back at my house drinking shots of tequila. But she was really cool and somehow I talked her into going to - I was on my way to do a movie called The Resident in New Mexico and she was on her way to Paris - and I talked her into, instead of going to Paris, to come and see me in New Mexico. And I ruined her life and now she's stuck with me." Bye forever.
