The Detail on Victoria Beckham's Pants Will Definitely Make You Do a Double Take
Victoria Beckham has never met a trend she's too afraid to try. Though the singer-turned-designer definitely has a signature look, over the years, we've seen her experiment with everything from PVC catsuits to all-over leopard print. On Thursday, she gave another tricky look a try when she sported a pair of skinny stirrup pants, stretched over heeled boots. The black ribbed leggings are from her own collection, and she teamed them with a belted peplum jacket from the same collection, both of which you can shop ahead.
However, though she started the day wearing her own label, she did a quick change later that day into something a bit more unexpected. After a spot of vintage shopping, Victoria emerged in NYC having swapped her tailored topper for a more casual camo jacket. She posted a number of videos to her Instagram Stories that showed her trying various items (including a multicolored blanket) during her vintage shopping spree, but it looks like she eventually settled on the jacket, saying "u [sic] can never have too much vintage camouflage." One look at the photos ahead, and we have to agree!
Victoria Beckham's Leopard Coat Is the Definition of Luxury, Especially When You See the Price
Victoria Beckham loves wearing pieces from her own collection. After all, what's the point of being a designer if you can't stock your closet with the looks you created that you'd wear on the regular? VB showed off one of her latest designs while arriving at JFK in New York.
To keep warm, Victoria styled a black turtleneck sweater with long black trousers and a luxurious leopard-print coat that costs a cool $3K. While the print can seem daunting at first, the British designer proves that when styled correctly, it can act as a neutral. Read on to see all angles of her outfit, and buy her exact coat, as well as more affordable options, ahead.

Why I've Fallen Head Over Heels For a Hot Water Bottle, and I Don't Care Who Knows It
On a recent trip to London, I found myself feeling extra charmed by all things British and reveled in every lovely thing my darling British friend offered me while staying at her house. There were nightly tea and cookie offerings, a warmed-by-the-dryer "dressing robe" (aka a robe), and on my first night there, to my delight, she asked (please read with English accent), "Would you like me to put a hot water bottle in your bed?" "You mean like those rubber things from old-time British movies?" I asked in unrefined American fashion. It was during this first night's sleep with the fuzzy-covered water bottle that my life changed forever.
I got one almost as soon as I arrived home.
Being someone who is naturally cold most of the time, I dread the Winters - yes, even in Southern California - where our old, drafty house turns freezing during the nights, and I'm forced to turn to drastic measures to stay warm. This usually looks like going to sleep dressed like Rocky in full sweatsuit practice mode and layering blanket upon electric blanket to keep myself cocooned in warmth. And as much as I love my electric blanket, the reality is that it's just not the easiest to sleep with.
Enter the hot water bottle. For starters, I'm a fan of nightly wind-down routines, so my new favorite part of the day is realizing it's time to put on the hot water for my warm fur baby. I fill up the kettle, wait for the water to get super steamy, then fill my little love muffin three quarters of the way up, push out the excess air, and seal it right up. Within seconds, the bottle begins to warm the fur cover, and from that moment I can barely be apart from it for the rest of the night. Click through for all the reasons I'm thoroughly obsessed with this inanimate object.

The soups we've rounded up here all freeze well since they're free of potatoes, seafood, eggs, and other ingredients that don't take kindly to long-term freezer action. Zodiac Signs That Make the Best Pet Owners, Ranked From Best to Worst
Owning a pet is one of the greatest things in the entire world. Depending on what kind of pet you get, they're usually fun, funny, and cuddly. But the best part? They love you unconditionally, no matter what. But while some people seem to be total naturals when it comes to having animals in their home, others have to get used to it and work hard at forming a bond. No pet owner looks the same, and the way we love and care for our pets can also vary.
If you're into astrology and zodiac signs, then you know how eerily accurate they can be. They can predict things when it comes to your career, money situation, love life, and home life, which means they can pretty much nail what kind of pet owner you are. Keep reading to see zodiac signs as pet owners, ranked from best to worst.
- Taurus (April 20-May 20) - This sign is known for being practical, which is a perfect trait for a pet owner who will do their share of research before adopting. Too often pets are adopted and returned to shelters or rehomed because the owner didn't realize the amount of work it takes. A Taurus will make sure the pet is the right fit. Not to mention, Taurus individuals are loyal and dependable . . . kind of like a Golden Retriever! And who better to care for a pet than someone who shares their characteristics?
- Aries (March 21-April 19) - The Aries pet owner is always on the move with an abundance of energy - just like a puppy! Having the ability to match a pet's energy level is key, and this sign does it well. This sign also loves adventure and trying new things, so they'll always be willing to bring their pet to a new park or buy them a fun new treat.
- Cancer (June 21-July 22) - This sign tends to be very emotional. A Cancer loves having a pet around to share some snuggles (or even a good cry) with and would be very in tune to the needs of their pet. They are extremely loving and intuitive, so they'll shower their pet with affection and always be on the lookout for signals about what they need.
- Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) - Capricorns are practical and ambitious, as well as patient and disciplined. As a pet owner, you need to be sure you keep to a schedule to ensure both you and the pet are being taken care of. Capricorns are also great at training pets, because they have the discipline and patience needed to keep trying.
- Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) - This sign is known for being fiery and intense and is also said to be a bit psychic. A Scorpio may be able to sense the pet's personality style well and even feel like they can "communicate" with animals. Scorpios are passionate and give everything they have to whatever they set their mind to, whether it's training a talking parrot or trying agility courses with a dog. But they shouldn't let that strong personality allow them to hold grudges if their pet does something wrong.
- Leo (July 23-Aug. 22) - Faithful, loving, and warmhearted are the biggest traits of a Leo. Treating a pet like a family member is easy for this fire sign. They have an abundance of energy, which makes them great at paying attention to a needy pet, but they still sometimes love to put themselves first. They should remind themselves that their animal's needs should sometimes come before their own.
- Gemini (May 21-June 20) - While a Gemini can be nervous or tense, they also are very adaptable and versatile. Being able to adapt to your pet's needs, like when they're sick, is key, but pets can also sense nerves and tension, which may make them have the same feelings, and no one wants a nervous pet.
- Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) - Libras get along with everyone and are very social, so you can always count on them for a good time. These traits make for a great pet owner, as it's always easy to make a friend at a dog park! The big concern with a Libra pet owner is making sure their social calendar allows for time to run home between work and happy hour to take care of the pet.
- Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) - This sign is friendly, honest, and loyal - all good traits to have as a pet owner. This sign's downfall, however, is being unemotional and detached, which may lead to a lack of bonding with a pet.
- Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) - Virgos are known for their practicality, cleanliness, and need to stay away from chaos. Being a clean-freak doesn't really work when you have an animal in the house since some pets shed, traipse mud through the house, or cough up fur balls on the couch. A Virgo pet owner will be loyal and can create a deep bond, but there are few pets that a Virgo won't be too critical of.
- Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) - Pisces can be a little uncommunicative and all over the map when it comes to feelings. Not even a pet wants to deal with an emotional wreck.
- Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) - Having a pet is a huge responsibility, and this sign is known for being a little irresponsible sometimes. A Sagittarius pet owner loves their freedom, and since pets can't take care of themselves, this sign might want to hold off on getting one.

Burger King Is Bringing Back Cini Minis From the '90s, and We Already Smell the Sweetness
Gather round, '90s kids, because we have an exciting announcement that will leave your taste buds tingling: Burger King is bringing back Cini Minis! After being introduced to the fast food chain's breakfast menu in 1998 and later discontinued in the 2000s, the delicious miniature cinnamon rolls are making a comeback. Cini Minis will be available starting Nov. 29 for a limited time while supplies last.
According to a press release, the bite-size cinnamon rolls are baked daily in store ovens and made with "signature cinnamon sugar and creamy sweet icing for dipping." The Cini Minis come in a pack of four for just $1.49, but whether you want to share with friends or enjoy all four is up to you. (Sorry, y'all, I'll be going with the latter option.) You can also get a free pack of Cini Minis if you order BK delivery exclusively on Grubhub and spend more than $10 before tax and tip.
It's been years since we've had the fast food treat in our lives, but the hype has yet to die down. In fact, three years ago a petition was started on change.org to bring back the miniature treat. "Cini-Minis were a large part of my childhood and Burger King chicken-stripped them away from me like the jesters they are," wrote the creator of the petition. Ha! Over 2,300 signatures later, and this guy has a lot to be excited about. Read on to see photos of the delicious Cini Minis.

Former President George H.W. Bush Has Died at Age 94
George Herbert Walker Bush, the 41st President of the United States, has died at age 94 in Kennebunkport, ME. His death, which was announced by his office on Friday night, comes nearly eight months after the passing of his wife of 73 years, Barbara Bush, who died in April. The day after her funeral, Bush was hospitalized for an infection in his bloodstream.
Bush served as vice president to Ronald Reagan for two terms before becoming president in 1989. He would lead the country for four years and go on to watch his eldest son, George W. Bush, be elected to the same office in 2000. He wed Barbara (née Pierce) in 1945 and had six children: sons George, Jeb, Neil, and Marvin and daughters Dorothy and Robin. Sadly, Robin was diagnosed with leukemia when she was just 3 years old and died shortly thereafter. Both George H.W. and Barbara Bush are survived by their five children, 17 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Finally - There's a Version of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" That Isn't So Damn Creepy
If you've ever felt conflicted about loving the holiday classic "Baby, It's Cold Outside" due to the lyrics' controversial handling of sexual consent, boy, have we got excellent news for you. While the original tune's pushy call-and-response style has earned plenty of criticism in recent years, there's a new version that replaces any trace of the problematic aspects of the vintage song with feminist, proconsent lyrics. Lydia Liza and Josiah Lemanski rewrote the festive song to demonstrate the importance of consent in romantic relationships and women's agency, and the result is downright lovely.
Just check out a sampling of the new lyrics:
"I really can't stay (Baby, I'm fine with that)
I've got to go away (Baby, I'm cool with that)
This evening has been (Been hoping you get home safe)
So very nice (I'm glad you had a real good time)
My mother will start to worry (Call her so she knows that you're coming)
Father will be pacing the floor (Better get your car a-humming)
So really I'd better scurry (No rush)
Should I use the front or back door? (Which one are you pulling toward more?)
The neighbors might think (That you're a real nice girl)
What is this drink? (Pomegranate La Croix)"
Watch the pair perform the song above, then you can add it to your Spotify playlist! Now, when can we get a new version of "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer"? Because that's some dark stuff, man.
This Couple's "Rainbow"-Themed Wedding Has a Sweet Backstory - and Check Out the Bridesmaids!
When Ben and Michael were ready to say "I do," they went all out and planned a gorgeous wedding that incorporated their love story in a totally unique way. You see, the pair picked out five songs, each encapsulating a significant period in their relationship, starting with Lady Gaga's "LoveGame" and ending with Kesha's "Rainbow." Here's their love-story playlist:
"LoveGame" by Lady Gaga: "Cupid played a game that would take five years in the making. After two years, Cupid decided to shoot an arrow at a concert in Houston, TX, featuring Lady Gaga. We had just begun talking via OkCupid, and our future maid-of-honor pushed us into trading numbers, which led to our first date."
"Yoü and I" by Lady Gaga: "Like most first dates, we both were a little awkward until we both expressed our mutual love for music and how it brings a smile to your face even when having a bad day. Our dates continued, ranging from picnics on the floor of a college dorm room to the floor of our first apartment together and eventually to the picnic where the proposal occurred."
"Don't Stop Believing" by Glee Cast: "On June 27, 2015, the United States Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage. What we once thought would never be suddenly became a reality. It was a birthday present for both of us as we celebrated at Houston Pride."
"Welcome to New York" by Taylor Swift: "With the debut of The Great Gatsby, the concept of elegance and love was an eye-opening idea of exactly how we wanted to plan our wedding."
If you're already swooning, then brace yourself, because the reason they chose Kesha's "Rainbow" to be the song that represents their wedding day is absolutely touching:
"Six years after Cupid played his game, we came together with family, friends, and loved ones [in Boerne, TX]. Just as God places rainbows in the sky so we may see the beauty of all [the] colors after a storm, we were granted our own rainbow. Now we look to the sky without any limit and seek the good things in life."
The two also incorporated the rainbow in their bridesmaids' dresses. Each ombre gown was dyed with a specific color from the rainbow, so when they all stood together, they made a perfect rainbow. These intricate details combined with photographer Shelly Beck's fantastic artistic eye led to breathtaking wedding photos.
See the amazing pictures from their wedding ahead!
I Tried Dating Like It Was 1999 - No Apps! - and Here's How I Met Guys IRL
Remember the '90s and early '00s before the dating apps? Personally, I was a child, but I was a child obsessed with romantic comedies where everything seemed absolutely urgent, exciting, and such hard work! I always pictured my future adulthood spent in absurd situations where my gay best friend pretended to be my fiancé à la Julia Roberts in My Best Friend's Wedding, or perhaps I'd have to go to a wedding and face my ex, like Debra Messing in The Wedding Date, or maybe I was so often a bridesmaid that the local paper would do a cover story on my tragedy, like Katherine Heigl in 27 Dresses.
But as it turns out, there's a lot less urgency in today's typical dating arena - and in fact, things can start to feel a little like a video game:
- Swipe left.
- Swipe right.
- Left.
- Right.
- Right.
- Hi, how's your Tuesday going?
- Would you like to get a drink on Thursday?
- Hey, I had a nice time, but this isn't a fit for me.
- And repeat.
Robots. I think we can all agree we kinda miss the whimsy and excitement of an in-person meet cute. As it turns out, there are myriad options for dating in the 21st century that involve no swiping whatsoever. Don't believe me? Well, you're in luck, because like a hero, I spent two weeks turning away from my dating apps (yes, even my beloved Bumble) and pretending I was dating in the '90s.
Dating without the apps is higher risk, more fun, and more work!
Things have changed a bit since those days, but one thing remains constant: dating without the apps is higher risk, more fun, and more work!
But how can you possibly meet anyone without the apps? I'll take you on my journey.
Meeting Someone at a Work Conference
At the very least, it's practice dating; at most, you meet someone worth getting on a plane for.
I was on a solo business journey in the Midwest, eating alone, when I noticed a total babe who had that kinda corn-fed look that comes from being raised on football and beef. Without my apps to distract me, I sat there, enjoying my dinner, making myself just available enough to be approached (but hopefully not so available that people felt sad for the 30-something lady dining alone). That's a tough balance to strike, people, but a healthy confidence can flip the scales in your direction.
Corn-fed beef over there wasn't making a move, so I ventured to be a little bolder than usual and ask him a question about the football game on TV. Easy, because my baseline knowledge of sports is exactly zero. He bit, and we started chatting immediately. Turns out he was also attending the conference I was speaking at, and he was also single AF. Game. On.
We shared some wine and the kind of fun, intimate conversation that can happen when the likelihood of meeting again is low enough to exchange some secrets. The conference lasted a couple more days, and every time I saw him in the expo hall, we'd wink or smile, and at the evening networking events, I had a built-in buddy. On the last day, we parted ways with a fist bump right before I went on stage, and it made me feel like a freaking rock star. Wherever you are now, corn-fed beef, thanks for the memories.

Matchmakers and Dating Coaches
I'd never worked with a matchmaker before, so I sat down with founder and matchmaker at Agape Match Maria Avgitidis to get the lowdown. Being on the phone with her for 40 minutes was part interview, part personal dating coach session, and I'm forever grateful for nuggets of wisdom like, "Avoid self-deprecating jokes, the universe listens to stuff like that," and, "No need to give men more information than necessary. You can leave a date by saying, 'It's time for me to go,' and let them think you're Cinderella."
"No need to give men more information than necessary. You can leave a date by saying, 'It's time for me to go,' and let them think you're Cinderella."
Mind-blowing advice wasn't the only thing Maria shared. She explained that matchmakers and dating coaches are great because they either do the swiping and the matching on your behalf or give you lessons on how to get more efficient at it yourself. Her team at Agape doesn't consider themselves in competition with the apps, but rather power users. According to Maria, "Not being on the apps today is like not having an email address." So while you might be reading this for ideas to get off the apps entirely, consider the possibility that you could outsource the operation instead of removing it from your life.
If you can't afford a matchmaker, that's OK, too. San Francisco-based dating coach and relationship counselor Lauren Korshak MA, MFT, says many matchmaking companies will allow you to join their databases for free. A handful she suggests checking out are OkSasha, Find Love at Last, Skilled Attraction, and others.
A Wingman
If outsourcing to strangers isn't your thing, consider letting someone you know and trust take over your dating apps. I saw a guy on Bumble recently whose description said, "This is sometimes Brad, but it's mostly his sister-in-law." Such a great disclaimer, because if Brad's sister-in-law accidentally swipes right on Brad's coworker, his friend's ex, or someone he ghosted, it's clearly an innocent mistake.
Like most things, there's an app for this, very appropriately named Wingman. Available on iOS and Android, the platform allows you to designate up to four wingmen who can suggest introductions, and if it's a match, you take over the conversation privately from there. I spoke with the company's CEO and founder, Tina Wilson, who explained, "Many people have fatigue around dating apps, so tap into your friends and family, who are great resources to help you meet the right person." I wish I'd known about this app when I let my mom give my dating life a whirl.

Speed Dating
You gotta try it. Not necessarily because it's where all the soulmates are hiding, but it's equal parts effective and absurd. In other words, it's great for going on a handful of mini dates in one night so you get a crash course in the art of dating small talk. Just make sure you're well rested, fed, and hydrated, because it's a very long night.
I spoke with Australia-based Brett Couston, who cofounded modernized speed-dating company CitySwoon with his wife, Louise O'Connor. The pair created the company to bring speed dating into the 21st century and were kind enough to let me attend a few events. They work like this:
- Sign up for a CitySwoon event, and receive the time and location over email.
- Arrive at a seemingly normal bar with normal attendees on what feels like a normal night.
- Check in via your phone upon arrival, and wait for the event to begin.
- You'll know it's begun when your phone pings you with the first name and a single headshot of your first match, who is also in said bar, and it's your job to find one another.
- Once you make contact, sit and enjoy each other's company for 10 or so minutes until your phone pings you both for your next match to begin.
- Repeat for 90 minutes.
The biggest con of speed dating is the events usually start a bit late. There's no minute longer than a waiting-for-your-date-to-start minute. Not a microwave minute, not a treadmill minute, nothing. So 15 of those is torture, but I'm here to tell you this is equal parts thrilling and exhausting, and we should all try it at least once. If you think you're bad at dating, this is the crash course you need to work out those conversation starters and become a pro. If you think you're good at dating, this is a new challenge that will shake it up and keep it interesting. Plus, afterward, I treat myself to ice cream.
Karaoke
Here's why it works. There are exactly two kinds of people who like karaoke: attention seekers and attention givers. If you're a seeker (me) and you're not on stage, you're bored as hell. You're only there to get the mic and let the world watch you shine, so anyone who gives you attention when it's not your turn is going to really stand out.
That's right - a date from meeting in real life. It. Can. Happen!
I was recently at my favorite karaoke dive with my fellow attention-seeker friend Chelsea, and we were bringing the house down with Salt-N-Pepa's "Shoop." I remembered the name of the cute guy who'd sung before us, and at each chorus, I started razzing him to sing along, shouting his name and insisting he knew the words. He loved it, his friend group loved it, and guess what? After the song, he bought me a beer and got my number, and last weekend, we went to the movies. That's right - a date from meeting in real life. It. Can. Happen!
A Healthy Backslide
Don't diminish that metaphorical little black book of your past beaus gone wrong. OK, you've said it's never gonna work, but really ask yourself why. You might have noticed there's always a little something that keeps you coming back - but maybe there's a little something that keeps you from taking this seriously. Examine that thing instead. If it's not a dealbreaker, consider restructuring your mindset to give it a real shot.
If you've overlooked a quality person because you were going through a "me" phase, the worst that can happen from you pinging this past romance is they will feel flattered but decline. The best that could happen is you kick back into gear with someone you're now emotionally ready for.
Now, as you imagine a world without the instant gratification of a match, consider picking your head up and looking around for a moment to take a risk and pretend you're in a '90s rom-com. Surprisingly, you might end up having more fun doing more work. Good luck out there!

Ivanka Trump Actually Had the Audacity to Write an Anti-Human Trafficking Op-Ed
On Nov. 29, Ivanka Trump had the audacity to write an op-ed in The Washington Post commending the president's efforts to combat global human trafficking. Specifically, the daughter of and senior advisor to the president praised his administration's decision to revoke some aid and support to countries that have failed to adequately address human trafficking within their borders - all while Ivanka maintains virtual silence on ongoing, state-sanctioned abuses of women and children at the US-Mexico border.
Since the beginning of her father's presidency, Ivanka has decisively branded herself as an advocate for women and children and has consistently touted her speeches and projects related to human trafficking. Yet Ivanka's concerns about the safety and welfare of women and children abroad ring disingenuous, coming just days after harrowing new reports about the tear-gassing of migrant children at the US-Mexico border and new (and damning) revelations about the administration's disinterest in doing the bare minimum to protect migrant children separated from their parents from harm.
Ivanka's anti-human trafficking work is hardly allyship. Instead, it is a transparent effort to deflect from the United States's own abuses of children.
Ivanka has since tried to distance her father's administration from the atrocities at the border, blaming them on politicians across party lines for failing to implement meaningful reforms on immigration, as though that would offer any reasonable defense. As numerous immigration reporters have already pointed out, the president's unabashed "zero tolerance" policies - including systematic family separation, turning away victims of domestic violence (even those with children), and his dehumanizing, xenophobic rhetoric - have all contributed to the current ecosystem of state-sanctioned violence against women and children at the border.
Ultimately, Ivanka's willingness to not only overlook but dishonestly portray her father's role in this violence - all while touting her work on global human trafficking - demonstrates a gross hypocrisy and reveals her opinion on which women and children actually matter. In Ivanka's worldview, it's certainly not the Central American migrant families fleeing death, violence, and, yes, even sexual abuse.
According to Witness For Peace, an estimated six in 10 women and girls are raped and 80 percent are sexually assaulted during their journey to the border. There have been numerous recent high-profile cases of border patrol officers and detainment center workers charged with sexual assault against migrant women and children. In April, The Intercept reported that of 1,224 sexual abuse complaints filed at detainment centers between 2010 and 2017, only 43 investigations were conducted; of course, these only include reported incidents. Earlier this week, a new report revealed the Trump administration had specifically waived required rigorous background checks of staff at migrant detention camps who work directly with migrant children. This will only increase the likelihood of child abuse - including the sexual abuse Ivanka Trump claims to be so concerned about - at the border.
Combating human trafficking and sexual violence against women and children abroad may be a noble and vitally important goal, but not if efforts are intended to hide or deflect from abuses at home. Ivanka's role in downplaying human rights violations at the border and the Trump administration's active role in militarizing and making the border more violent are hardly an aberration from her long history of noninclusive, faux-feminist activism. Speaking of the evils of child exploitation, as Ivanka repeatedly does in her Washington Post op-ed this week, factories that have made clothes for her brand have repeatedly been accused of child labor, extremely low compensation, and verbal abuse.
Human trafficking may be particularly rampant in developing, majority nonwhite countries. But Ivanka's anti-human trafficking work is hardly allyship. Instead, it is a transparent effort to deflect from the United States's own abuses of children. And certainly human trafficking and child exploitation are not just far-away, global phenomena; new policies to penalize countries that fail in their obligations to address human trafficking will do little for the estimated 15,000 to 17,000 US victims of human trafficking.
So long as Ivanka remains not merely associated with but a senior advisor within an administration responsible for putting babies and toddlers in cages, all of her other work on women's and children's rights will continue to ring hollow at best . . . and insidiously manipulative at worst.
Instagram Now Lets You Share More Personal Stories With a "Close Friends" List
Good news, folks: sharing those embarrassing double-chin selfies and drunken midkaraoke serenades on your Instagram Stories with everyone but your boss or parents just got a whole lot easier. The app is rolling out a new feature dubbed "Close Friends," which allows you to share certain Stories with a curated list of friends rather than with everyone who follows you. So yep, you pretty much don't need that "Finstagram" anymore.
Here's the scoop on how to utilize the "Close Friends" feature once your Instagram updates. To add pals to your list, click the "Close Friends List" button in the menu on the right-hand side of your profile. Simply tap the green "Add" button to build your group. Your friends won't get notified when you add or remove them, and only you can see your list. When you're ready to share a personal photo or video (like, say, one of those aforementioned embarrassing selfies), simply capture it and click the green circle logo with a white star in the middle to send that content to your closest pals instead of to all of your followers.
A few more details to note: if someone has added you to their personal list, you'll see a green "Close Friends" badge while watching their Stories, and there will be a green circle around their profile picture in the Instagram Stories section at the top of your newsfeed instead of the usual pink-purple ring. Keep reading to see a quick breakdown on how the fun feature works, and get ready to build your lists.

The Fight Against AIDS Isn't a Sprint - It's a Marathon
Many marathon runners will agree: mile 22 is the hardest. At the beginning of the race, adrenaline powers the body. The excitement and fear of the daunting challenge ahead provide the fuel the competitors need to forge ahead. When they reach the middle of the race, patience becomes a virtue. If the runners sprint too fast, they will burn out. However, the ultimate goal is to finish the race as fast as possible. The idea of crossing that finish line provides the enticement to push oneself to the limit. It is in mile 22 when the small hills seem like mountains, runners' feet feel like anvils, and intense fatigue starts to set in. As we commemorate World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, we find ourselves in mile 22 of the marathon race to eliminate AIDS.
Ruth and Abraham are both HIV+ and lost loved ones to AIDS before meeting at TEMA Hospital, a (RED)-funded Global Fund programs in Ghana. Their doctor introduced them, and it was love at first sight. Today, Abraham and Ruth are alive and healthy, and they have four HIV-free children.
In 2018, we - as a society - have a choice to make. Over the past nearly 15 years, brilliant organizations like The Global Fund and PEPFAR have been running the marathon effort that is fighting to end AIDS. They've played pivotal roles in passing so many milestones. We've cut the number of deaths from AIDS in half, and today, 22 million people are receiving life-saving treatment. That's 22 million lives that would otherwise be lost. It's an enormous achievement, largely thanks to the sustained efforts of governments, NGOs, businesses and people.
The only opponent standing in our way is our short memory - and our even shorter attention span.
Alas, the world is exhausted. It feels like we're running a myriad of issue-based marathons all at once, and our collective legs and hearts are giving out. Still, the only opponent standing in our way is our short memory - and our even shorter attention span. Knowing the progress we've made, we need to ask ourselves some tough questions about moving forward:
With the end of AIDS now within the world's grasp, who would choose to stop the advances in their tracks? To let the extraordinary gains roll back and let lives saved become lives lost? Who would knowingly deny a generation the chance to be free of this preventable, treatable disease? Is that who we are? Would we be able to live with ourselves?
That's the precipice the world stands upon today. As funding for the fight comes under increasing threat, and people focus on the domestic issues being faced around the world, to remove investment is akin to walking away with only one mile left. As (RED)'s cofounder Bono recently said, "We could be at the dumbest moment ever, which is where we're almost at the moon and we turn back." To help fuel forward momentum around World AIDS Day this year, (RED) and its partners are giving people everywhere multiple ways to make your holiday shopping choices count toward this urgent-as-ever fight. Visit Amazon.com/RED to shop for gifts - including the brand-new (RED) iPhone XR, MCM apparel & accessories, Durex condoms, EOS cosmetics, and a special Echo (RED) edition. And as you shop, do it with the knowledge that for every dollar you spend at Amazon.com/RED, Bank of America will donate 20 cents, up to $1.5 million.
With the end of AIDS in sight, the fight is in a perilous situation - and every little push and extra penny toward the finish line helps.
To the Stranger Who Offered to Help Me on a Flight: You Don't Know How Much It Mattered
It was the first trip we'd taken after losing our pregnancy, and I couldn't handle much. Deep breaths in and out. A smile at my kids. Getting to Disney World and attempting to take in the sights and smells was my only goal. Just get there, I'd repeat to myself. I'd wanted this time away with my family so we could smile again, if only for a few moments here and there. But the trip was bittersweet. From the moment we left, I was already dreading returning home, back to the reality of what had happened. So, when we arrived at the Orlando airport after our time away only to find out our flight was delayed by several hours, you'd think I would have been happy we could stay just a little bit longer. Instead, the unexpected turn of events filled me with anxiety and dread.
I thought often about the lady on the plane. How she couldn't have known what I was going through that night. How she was in the same boat we were. How she could very easily have pretended not to notice my quiet sobs.
I remember sitting on the floor by the ticket counter, staring off into space. Worst case scenarios filled my head. What if we didn't take off that night? What if we couldn't get a hotel room? What if the kids started acting out of control and I couldn't deal with it? Since our loss, I'd been having a tough time getting through the day when everything went right. When things went wrong, I fell apart, and our flight delay was proving to be no exception. Somehow, my husband convinced me to get up from the floor, and I practically sleepwalked to a restaurant so we could eat. Meanwhile, periodic flight updates pinged our phones, and things went from bad to worse. We wouldn't take off until midnight, almost six hours after the planned time. My body practically vibrated with anxiety as I pictured the two-hour drive home with three kids once we landed at the airport at 2:30 a.m.
Entertaining the kids in the terminal for the next five hours was about as challenging as I'd envisioned. When running back and forth got old, they colored, snacked, and ran around again before exhaustion set in. At one point, all of my daughters were crying, and so was I. I felt physically and emotionally drained. Every little incident felt like the biggest problem in the world, from their fights over crayons to their repeated requests to go to the bathroom. Bottom line: I wasn't coping with this delay as well as I usually would under different circumstances.
Once we finally boarded the plane, the kids' whining only escalated. They were so overtired, and who could blame them? I was barely hanging on myself, and my tears were flowing freely now. I cried out of exhaustion and out of grief. I can only imagine what other passengers thought as my kids and I basically sobbed our way to our seats. My husband was doing his best to calm us all down, but it was a bad scene. Mercifully, once the plane took off, at least my little one fell asleep. But I wasn't even trying to keep myself together at this point.
A woman with several tired kids of her own was sitting in the row in front of us, across the aisle. She clearly had plenty to contend with herself, but I noticed her looking back at me every so often with a concerned look on her face. I heard her say something to one of her children about a sweet mama being upset. She finally leaned over and asked gently, "Do you need me to watch your babies?" Babies? My kids aren't babies, was my first thought. I don't know why I wasn't immediately touched by her kind gesture; I guess I felt too overwhelmed to take it in at that moment. I shook my head and went back to being miserable.
It wasn't until later that I realized just how meaningful it was that a total stranger even cared about me. In fact, in the following months, once the fog of my grief dissipated slowly, I thought often about the lady on the plane. How she couldn't have known what I was going through that night. How she was in the same boat we were, with kids up much later than usual, cramped, hungry, tired, and ready to be in their own beds. How she could very easily have pretended not to notice my quiet sobs. How she could have judged me for how poorly I was seemingly handling a simple flight delay. Instead, this stranger showed me compassion, on a plane of all places, where decency goes out the window in far too many situations. This was late at night, when every soul on board our flight had expected to be at home already, not just starting the trip.
I see today it's the kindness of others, both from those I know and those I don't, like that mom on the plane, that have helped me in my recovery from our awful loss. So even though it was a long time ago now, I wish I could thank her for seeing my struggle, for not judging me, for putting her own challenges aside and offering to help me, and most of all, for proving that no matter what you're going through, there's so much good in the world, even at 30,000 feet.

At $14, the new menu item consists of a patty sandwiched between two beignet "buns" and topped with American cheese, bacon jam, pickled onions, lettuce, and pickles. This Cat Gives High Fives at a CrossFit Gym, and Wow, Best Cheerleader Ever?
How do you usually finish a sweat sesh: chug some more water? Fist-bump your fellow class-goer with a look that says, "Thank god we survived?" Head to the showers? Grab a eucalyptus towel if you're at a bougie high-end gym? No matter what your post-workout ritual is, you've been doing it all wrong.
Turns out, there's only one way to end a fitness class, and that's with a high five from a cat. I didn't realize how much I needed a paw-bump from an encouraging feline until I watched this video from CrossFit's Instagram. The friendly tabby gave CrossFitters high fives as they jogged by at a CrossFit box in China. He didn't miss a beat as he stuck his paw out for each patron that jogged past.
You know what my dog does when I finish a workout? Nothing - she just stares at me to be let out for the hundredth time that day. I'm not much of a cat person, but this CrossFit cat has convinced me every gym and fitness class needs one.
