A Trainer Shows You How to Fix the Most Common Squat Mistakes

@airin_avery1

Fix these common squat mistakes ✅ #squats

♬ Dunkin Donuts - Jady

Squats are the ultimate lower-body workout. Beginners can do basic ones by placing your feet slightly wider than hip-width apart and bending your knees until your thighs are parallel with the floor. Later, you can advance the move by holding weights or adding kicks, knee raises, or jumps in between each one. The possibilities are endless! But just because squats are popular doesn't mean that doing them comes naturally. Without correct form, you could end up injuring yourself instead of toning your glutes and thighs. Uh, no thanks!

NASM-certified trainer and nutrition specialist Airin Avery (@airin_avery1) recently posted a TikTok addressing common squat mistakes many people make. In it, she demonstrates four wrong moves - including arching your lower back, allowing your knees to cave in or your butt to collapse at the bottom of the squat, and leaning too far forward - and small tweaks for each one.

After making a few of these changes, you should be able to feel your muscles aching, thighs shaking, and booty burning - but you won't feel your knees hurting, or your back or neck straining uncomfortably. Watch her video above and keep doing those squats!

17 Royally Sweet Photos of Queen Elizabeth II and Her "Dearly Beloved Grandson" Prince Harry

With Queen Elizabeth II's blessing, Prince Harry stepped down as a senior member of the royal family in March. In her statement, the queen made it clear that Harry, Meghan Markle, and Archie "will always be much loved members of my family."

In the past, Elizabeth has also referred to Harry as her "most dearly beloved grandson," and we can't help but reminisce about all the sweet moments they've shared together. From being front and center at the Trooping the Colour parade to sharing inside jokes at royal engagements, it's clear that Harry and his grandmother have a bond unlike any other and nothing is going to change that.

In fact, when Harry lost his mother, Princess Diana, in 1997, Elizabeth protected him and Prince William from the press by "deliberately removing the newspapers" so they "didn't know what was going on."

When Harry was asked to describe their dynamic in an interview a few years ago, he said he still views her "more as the queen" than his grandmother. "You have this huge amount of respect for your boss and I always view her as my boss, but occasionally as a grandmother." Take a look at some of their best moments together.

What to Know About Bachelorette Star Dale Moss's Day Job

We're all learning who Dale Moss is this week, thanks to the latest news out of filming for The Bachelorette. With rumors swirling that he and Bachelorette Clare Crawley already have fallen in love and left the show together, everyone is wondering who this guy is, what's his story, and what does he even do for a living? As it turns out, his job is at least one part of what makes it understandable why Clare might have fallen for him so fast.

Moss's career is pretty wide-ranging: he's dipped his toe in pro sports, modeling, and philanthropy, among other things. He's a global ambassador for the Special Olympics, and his bio on their site reveals more info about what he's done over his career. Initially, he played basketball in college, but switched over to football at South Dakota State University. Despite only playing college football for one year, he apparently made a big enough splash that he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers. He eventually played on the practice teams of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Carolina Panthers, and the Chicago Bears, but his football career never quite took off. He did, however, host a podcast from 2018 to 2019, called The Game Plan With Dale Moss, where he interviewed pro athletes about their lives and careers.

According to Moss's official website, he's now a model represented by Wilhelmina Models and has done campaigns for several brands and publications. He also apparently does a fair bit of philanthropic and advocacy work: in addition to his ambassador work with the Special Olympics, his website notes that he has also worked with the Tiger Woods Foundation, the Wounded Warriors Project, and NFL Play 60.

To make a long story short, Moss seems to have not just one job, but several. His Special Olympics bio reflects this, describing him as "an accomplished model, actor, and host, and sought after media personality" and an advocate "for youth development, inclusive initiatives and diversity to athletes." In some ways, it's continuing the grand tradition of Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants having unusual or interesting careers, and, like former castmate Matt James, is doing his best to do some good.

So . . . What Are the Chances Disney Just Releases All of Its 2020 Movies Online?

With the news that Mulan will be released exclusively on Disney+, we're wondering if Disney will release any other 2020 movies on Disney+ instead of waiting for theaters to reopen. Right now, it's all up in the air, but the success or failure of Mulan could provide a blueprint for more movies that are being held back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Releases under the Disney umbrella for the rest of the year include The New Mutants, The King's Man, Black Widow, Soul, Free Guy, and West Side Story. It's most likely too early still to speculate about Free Guy and West Side Story, both of which are currently scheduled for December releases; West Side Story was always slated for a Winter release as a potential awards contender. While Free Guy could potentially be a good fit for Disney+ audiences, West Side Story is very much not a Disney-brand movie and might do well to wait until it can have a traditional theatrical release, especially given that the eligibility window for the Oscars has been extended.

Out of the current releases, Black Widow seems like the one Disney would most likely want to protect a theatrical release for. As a long-anticipated entry into the Marvel universe, it's had "blockbuster" written all over it since it was announced. It's the kind of movie that is "supposed" to be seen on the big screen, with huge special effects and action scenes. Since all Marvel movies are being delayed right now, the strategy might be to just keep pushing back and wait it out. After all, Black Widow doesn't take place in chronological order, but instead fits into the Marvel timeline just after Captain America: Civil War. It could easily be shifted around without disturbing continuity, even if another Marvel movie comes out before it finally does.

The most interesting case is definitely The New Mutants, an X-Men offshoot. The movie was made when 20th Century Fox was still its own studio, but in 2019, Disney bought out 21st Century Fox, including the iconic movie studio, and renamed it to the current 20th Century Studios moniker. Movies already in production or on the schedule got transferred over with the deal, which makes this complicated. According to Forbes, HBO has first streaming rights to movies made under the 20th Century Fox banner (which The New Mutants was, since it was completed before the takeover), and Disney is contractually obligated to release all remaining, completed Fox pictures in theaters. Could Disney buy its way out of this? Possibly, but we don't know yet, so right now, The New Mutants is once again in limbo. For now, it's a waiting game for everyone to see which Disney releases make their planned dates, which get pushed back, and which, if any, make the jump straight to streaming.

Jason Momoa Secretly Restored Lisa Bonet's First Car, So Apparently Gift Giving Is His Superpower

Jason Momoa is giving Lisa Bonet a gift full of cherished memories. On Tuesday, the Aquaman actor revealed that he'd been secretly working on a very special project: restoring his wife's 1964 Mustang. "This is the first car she ever bought," he explained in a YouTube video. "It's one of three ever made and it has a lot of custom parts to it."

"I know we can't relive a memory, but maybe we can rebuild one."

"I know we can't relive a memory, but maybe we can rebuild one," Jason mused in the video, reflecting on the car's previously beat-up state. He worked with the craftsmen at Divine 1 Customs in Las Vegas to return the vehicle to its previous glory - or perhaps even better. "I never thought that it would look like this," he admitted, after seeing the completed rebuild.

His disbelief is practically nothing compared to Lisa's. When Jason and their two kids - Nakoa-Wolf, 11, and Lola, 13 - delivered her surprise, she appeared incredibly moved by the nostalgic gesture. "It's beautiful. Holy cow," Lisa said. "That is gorgeous. Oh my gosh. It's pristine, not too flashy but just enough."

The surprise ended in a cute kiss between the couple, before they left hand in hand to take the car for a ride. Watch the video above to see Lisa's sweet shock (and Jason's pride at pulling it off!) in action.

Charlize Theron Knew She Wanted to Adopt a Baby When She Was Just a Child Herself

Charlize Theron is a mom to two daughters through adoption, and as it turns out, the actress knew she wanted to adopt when she was just a child herself. In an interview with Diane von Furstenberg in the season one finale of her podcast, InCharge With DVF, Charlize opened up about what led her to pursue adoption, what her daughters Jackson and August have taught her, and on the other side of the coin, what she's teaching her girls when it comes to relationships.

When asked how old she was when she knew she wanted to be a mother, Charlize told Diane that she was just 8 years old when the idea of adoption first spoke to her.

"I was connected to the idea of having a family through adoption when I was 8 years old."

"I'm an only child, I didn't have any siblings, and my mom has a letter that I wrote her when I was 8 years old," she said. "In the letter I ask her if we could, for Christmas, go to an orphanage to adopt a brother or sister for me. My mom, when I went through my first adoption, actually showed me the letter. I was connected to the idea of having a family through adoption when I was 8 years old. She's like: 'You never asked me to have another baby. You never asked me to have a little brother or sister for you. You just immediately went to adoption.' But I always knew that I wanted to be a mother always."

Charlize adopted her 8-year-old daughter Jackson in early 2012 and her 5-year-old daughter August in July 2015. Of the adoption process, the 44-year-old shared: "That whole process was incredibly empowering for me as a woman. The fact that I got to choose when I wanted to be a mom . . . There is a great power in choosing to be a mother and then doing it when your body, your mind, and everything is celebrating all of that. And I know that this is what I can handle."

Although Charlize knew from very early on that she wanted to be a mother, and then waited for the right timing to adopt her first child, there were still some surprises along the way.

"My children have completely reopened my eyes to the world and I jokingly always say I'm back at university."

"The thing that was really eye-opening to me was, my children kind of came to me in this unexpected way, where you know, I didn't know I was going to be the mom to two African American girls. I didn't know I was going to be the mom to an African American trans girl," she said. "All of these things have kind of made me more aware of how little I know. My children have completely reopened my eyes to the world and I jokingly always say I'm back at university. I'm back having to learn every single day because they challenge me in that way."

What Charlize does know, however, is that it's OK not to enter into relationships that don't serve you, even if it seems like what you "should" be doing. While in the car with her girls recently, Charlize shared that her 5-year-old proclaimed that her mom "needs a boyfriend," and the actress used this time to teach August that sometimes, the relationship you need most is the one you have with yourself.

In that moment, she responded to her daughter: "Actually I don't [need a boyfriend]. Right now, I feel really good." She continued, sharing that August had told her: "'You know what, Mom? You just need a boyfriend, you need a relationship!' And I was like: 'I am in a relationship. I'm in a relationship with myself right now.' And she had this look in her eye like she had never really contemplated that that was even a possibility . . . her mind was blown. But I know that was the day that she realized there's a different possibility."

7 Hairstyles From Moesha That Perfectly Sum Up Black Beauty In the 90s

Last week, Netflix's Strong Black Lead announced that it would be adding seven iconic Black sitcoms to the platform in the next three months. That included shows like Sister, Sister, Girlfriends, One on One, and more. The first to hit the platform over the last weekend was Moesha, the UPN sitcom starring Brandy as the titular character who navigates life as a teenager living with her widowed father, her younger brother Miles, and her stepmother Dee, (who also happens to be the vice principal at her school).

The show became one of the most popular titles on Netflix almost as soon as it arrived, as droves of people (including myself) immediately dove back into the series for nostalgic purposes. During my rewatch of the series, it was hard not to take note of all of the throwback hairstyles worn by the characters that were giving me major flashbacks to some of the styles I grew up seeing around me as a kid.

Ahead, check out a few hairstyles worn on the show that essentially sum up how expressive beauty trends were in the '90s.

For Straightforward Political News, I Recommend These 22 Twitter Accounts

Yamiche Alcindor of PBS NewsHour asks a question at a White House press conference

I never thought I'd be living through a pandemic - let alone an election year coupled with a pandemic. Keeping up with the influx of information has been trying for me, personally, as I'm sure many of you can relate to. While we are living in a time with unparalleled technological advances, having so much information at your fingertips can feel overwhelming.

I've found, in recent months, that I prefer getting my political news from the folks on the ground - specifically from reporters, not pundits, who are covering The White House on a daily basis. As the United States is deep into a historic election year, I thought I could get you started with a list of journalists and reporters to follow, helping you get the news direct from the source.

I choose to follow these individuals because I value their hard work and commitment to getting me the news directly.

I appreciate getting direct quotes from a press briefing or the word-by-word exchanges happening on the congressional floor because this allows me to craft my opinion on the news, which I value. More than anything, following these folks has made me realize the immense respect I have for their hard work and commitment to be on the ground (pandemic or not) day in and day out, maintaining their professionalism and working with dignity. The individuals on this list report for a wide variety of publications and come from a range of backgrounds covering the 2020 election. Their work makes my own Twitter feed that much more informative, and I hope it will do the same for yours.

In a slideshow shared to her grid on Tuesday, Lovato posted two photos showing off her adorable mini space buns and a supersoft makeup look that has us ready to reach for the nearest tube of Lip Smacker.

Lovato paired the throwback look with a soft pink smoky eye, extra long lashes, and, of course, a classic glossy lip that's almost as shiny as her silver hoop earrings. The baggy jeans and oversize, pastel T-shirt only have us reliving everything we love about the decade even more. Check out Lovato's full look here, and take a trip down memory lane with this list of '90s makeup product essentials.

20 Parenting Influencers Who'll Help You Expand Your View of Motherhood

As a woman of color content creator myself, I can tell you first-hand that it is such a struggle to take up this space that has been predominantly given to white women. And as I have grown and cultivated my platform, I came to realize how much the divisiveness in our country can be mitigated by our ability to empathize with one another. This is why it is pertinent to expand our scope of understanding for other women - and an easy way to do so is to diversify your social media feed.

Instead of curating a homogenized feed full of people that look similar to you, consider this a prime opportunity to expand your understanding through a commonality that unites so many women: motherhood. I've put together a list of some of my favorite BIPOC women to follow, all of who are amplifying diverse narratives of motherhood. Scroll through and follow this gallery of 20 women of color bloggers, influencers, and content creators to broaden Instagram feed and expand your view of motherhood!

What Would the Disney Princesses Be For Halloween? This Artist Puts Them in Pop Culture Costumes

Artist Isaiah Stephens created this awesome art series, reimagining Disney princes, princesses, villains, and other characters as if they decided to dress in pop culture-inspired costumes for Halloween. Beast as The Hulk is pretty spot-on, but I also love Belle as Hermione, Ursula as Beyoncé, and all the princesses who are dressed as superheroines - strong women characters for the win! See them all now, and check out more Disney princess art here.

Swiss Miss Has New Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate, Because Our Taste Buds Are Ready For Fall

Grab a bag of mini marshmallows and slip on an oversize sweater, because Swiss Miss just combined two of our favorite fall drinks to create Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate, and I'm already grabbing my favorite mug. The sweet drink, originally introduced in 2019, looks like it's made to be served with a generous swirl of whipped cream and an extra sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg, so please excuse me while I sift through my spice cabinet. For anyone in the mood for a spiked hot chocolate, a splash of vodka could also pair well with these warm fall flavors, so don't hesitate to try out your microwave barista skills and personalize your pumpkin spice hot chocolate any way you want.

The limited-edition treat will be available nationwide at retailers such as Target and Walmart for $2 per eight-count box beginning in September. If you're looking to stock up for the winter in the meantime, Amazon is currently selling a 12-box bundle for $39. That may sound like a lot of hot chocolate (and it is), but something tells me I'll be ready to stock up on more in no time.
