This Plus-Size Brand's NYFW Debut Will Be a Win For Us All
Torrid's announcement that it will be showing at Fashion Week come September isn't just a win for the plus-size brand, it's a win for everyone who's been waiting for the fashion industry to take real steps toward inclusion. If you don't yet know Torrid, you will. The brand, which makes cute, superwearable - and affordable - clothing for sizes 10-30, is set to make history as the first plus-size brand to stage a runway show during fashion primetime, New York Fashion Week.
Take a moment to appreciate that. That's a big deal. While designers and brands have hinted toward change, this is the first time a plus-size brand and plus-size models will have their own stage, smack dab in the middle of the style world's most watched event. The stakes are high, surely, but we've been waiting for a move like this one. Adding to the anticipation, Torrid will be casting 10 models for the show from a model search. So there's a lot to be excited about.
