Guests Freaked Out Over Calvin Klein's Popcorn-Covered Runway, and We Don't Blame Them
Runway shows are 10 times more exciting with some theatrics, and Raf Simons knew just how to pull that off. He presented his third runway show for Calvin Klein during New York Fashion Week, and this time, the show referenced America and Hollywood. The space was covered in 50,000 gallons of popcorn (guests like Nicole Kidman had to trek through it to get to their seats), and barnyard structures with Andy Warhol artwork were constructed for the show. Guests even received bags of popcorn as invites, and models carried bags of it down the runway.
Once the show began, we were treated to a plethora of pieces from Raf's imagination. The clothes ranged from rubber, hazmat-like boots to hand knitted balaclavas, which every model wore down the runway. Other notable items included breezy prairie skirts, chunky sweaters, and oversize coats that were paired with gleaming silver gloves. You could easily take any of the mentioned pieces and layer them together. Once the show concluded, guests took the opportunity to take more 'grammable snaps with the popcorn. If you're wondering if the snack was edible, it was. The company Popcorn Charlie took three weeks (!!!) to pop all of it for the show. Read on for all the highlights.
