The Mexican chef has been a staple on the network since her first show, Mexican Made Easy, premiered in 2010, delighting us with her finger-licking recipes and great personality for the past six years.

But have you ever wondered where Chef Marcela got her culinary degree? Or the food trend she just can't get behind right now? Or why she decided she wanted to be a chef? We found out for you, directly from the source herself. Read on for a few interesting facts about Marcela, including a few exclusives she shared with POPSUGAR Latina.

  1. She was born in San Diego but was raised in Tijuana, Mexico.
  2. Her first culinary job was at her aunt's cooking school in Baja, Mexico.
  3. She attended the Los Angeles Culinary Institute and the Ritz Escoffier Cooking School in Paris.
  4. Her first TV show was Food Network's Mexican Made Easy, but she's also been a judge on American Baking Competition. Now, she appears on The Kitchen.
  5. Her favorite dish to cook is lamb chops. She said, "With fresh herbs from the garden and on the grill, it's a fave for grown-ups and kids alike. I like adding a little spice to my herb marinade with some minced chile serrano. My fave in general is cooking foods from a good source (um, my garden, for example). Then, you only need a simple cooking technique and little seasoning. No-fuss cooking."
  6. Chef Marcela told us chia pudding is the food trend she just can't get behind.
  7. The first dish she ever learned to cook was egg in a hole. "The recipe is in my first cookbook [Fresh Mexico: 100 Simple Recipes For True Mexican Flavor], and I learned how to make it while living in Tijuana," she told us.

  9. She can master a recipe before even making it. "It took a while to get here, but now I'm at a place where I can just read something and know if it will work. Now, I'm much better at troubleshooting even before I turn the oven on."
  10. She said her goal wasn't to be a chef. "It was to change the perception that people had of Mexico, its culture, and its people through food. I think that's why I overshare so much on social media about my family and community. We're good people with beautiful families. And we bring salsa!"
  11. She has two adorable sons, Fausto and David. She loves to share photos of them (with hilarious captions) on her Instagram.

Gina Rodriguez Cut Her Luscious Long Hair For the Best Reason Ever

Selena Gomez's Glowy Met Gala Makeup Is Actually Super Easy to Re-Create

Selena Gomez wore a sexy-yet-edgy Louis Vuitton number to this year's Met Gala (complete with lace-up platform boots), and while we were totally obsessed with it, we also couldn't keep our eyes off her fresh-faced makeup. The "Hands to Myself" singer rocked a natural, glowy look (with a hint of boldness in the form of subtly winged eyeliner). And it could honestly be an everyday thing.

Makeup artist Hung Vanngo partnered with Kiehl's to create the look on Selena, first prepping her skin with the Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque ($32), then dabbing a few drops of the brand's Daily Reviving Concentrate ($46) to the high points of her face for extra dewiness. Since Selena's skin is already flawless, he went in with just a touch of foundation and concealer as a base, setting it all with a light reflecting powder.

To give her even more of a camera-ready glow, Hung dusted a highlight over her nose, forehead, and chin, adding a touch of bronzer to the hairline and jaw, and then dusting a soft pink blush on her cheekbones. He kept her lips super simple and effortless with a nourishing coat of the Facial Fuel No-Shine Moisturizing Lip Balm ($9) underneath a flesh-toned liner and a coat of CoverGirl Colorlicious Lipstick in Crème ($7).

And as for that gorgeous wing? No, liquid liner was not involved. Instead, Hung went for thick, blended-out lines of Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner ($20) and a wash of MAC Glitter Reflects Gold ($22) across the lid and lower lash line, creating the edgy touch we loved with individual falsies, two luscious coats of black mascara, and perfectly filled-in brows.

Easy, huh? Keep scrolling to see more pictures of Selena's look, and then check out what other Met Gala red carpet moments you might've missed.

Zoe Saldana's Shimmery Met Gala Eye Makeup Requires Only These 5 Products

While everyone was gawking at Zoe Saldana's princess-worthy gown from Dolce & Gabbana (and her hot husband, Marco Perego) at the 2016 Met Gala, we were zooming in on her gorgeous metallic eyes. See, the wrong makeup can make or break a red carpet look, but Zoe's was a total winner.

Makeup artist Vera Steimberg used Charlotte Tilbury products to create the copper metallic eye, and the step-by-step process is surprisingly simple: start with a creamy mix of Eyes to Mesmerise in Mona Lisa and Jean ($32 each) all over your lids, then use the same combination to line your lower lashes with an angled brush. Next, line your bottom and upper lash lines with the Colour Chameleon Eye Shadow Pencil in Bronzed Garnet ($27), lightly blending the brown shade with the eye shadow using your fingers. Then, dot the The Feline Flick ($30) eyeliner between your upper lashes to give the illusion of fuller fringe, finishing with a few coats of Full Fat Lashes mascara ($29) on top and bottom. So easy! Scroll ahead to check out more photos of Zoe's makeup and find close-ups of the products used to create it.

This Is How Adriana Lima Got Ready For the Met Gala

We already knew Adriana Lima was super chill, but her Instagrams pre-Met Gala seriously earned her a spot in our hearts. While stars across New York City spent the entire day primping, getting their hair shaped into intricate updos, and having layer upon layer of eye shadow swiped on to make a serious impact on the red carpet, the Brazilian model decided working out was a better way to get her skin in top shape for the red carpet.

Adriana, who is a big boxing fan, opted for a routine of difficult burpees and ab work that left her skin glowy, before using a sheet mask for a few minutes, then hitting the makeup chair for a gorgeous look of bright red lipstick and sultry eyes. Scroll ahead to see Adriana's prep, then check out how stunning she looked on the red carpet.

Yes, Thalia Wore a Robot-Inspired Arm Sleeve to the Met Gala. Yes, It Was Amazing

POPSUGAR Latina contributor Thalia truly embodied this year's Met Gala's Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology theme on the red carpet.

The Mexican singer wore a metallic Tommy Hilfiger gown, featuring a glitzy bustier and a long silky train. She amped up the already-on-trend look by adding a robot-inspired arm sleeve featuring mini CDs attachtments - her new album, Latina, comes on May 6, so it makes total sense.

She paired the look with super smokey eye makeup, a sleek high ponytail, and lots of chunky jewelry courtesy of Lorraine Schwartz. The end result was so wow-worthy, all her husband Tommy Mottola could do was stand back and let her shine in front of the cameras. Read on for even more pictures of Thalia, and then see what everyone else was wearing.

Alessandra Ambrosio and Joan Smalls Had a Balmain Army Party, and You Can't Miss Their Sexy Looks

The Balmain army party didn't end at the 2016 Met Gala. The fashionable supermodels that represented the fashion designer at the event headed to New York City nightclub The Gilded Lily to celebrate until the wee hours of the morning. And because, when you're a star, you can't attend two parties in the same outfit, Brazilian beauty Alessandra Ambrosio and Puerto Rican stunner Joan Smalls made a quick, but beyond stunning, wardrobe change.

Alessandra left behind the formfitting knitted silver gown she wore at The Metropolitan Museum, wearing a supershort long-sleeved paisley-printed dress with metal appliqués to the afterparty. Joan, on her part, let her laid-back style shine through by opting for a zip-up cropped hoodie and a leather miniskirt instead of her jaw-dropping beaded red carpet dress.
