3 Easy and Endlessly Rewarding Ways to Make Poetry Part of Your Every Day
At some point in our lives, most of us seem to have decided that poetry is too precious for us. That it requires sitting quietly, alone in a silent room, to really appreciate or understand. That if we didn't get a PhD in literature, poems don't have a place in our lives. But poetry shouldn't be extraordinary. It should be ordinary. I don't mean that poems themselves should be basic or boring; I mean that poetry can and should play a role in our boring, daily, typical, and often totally mundane lives.
This year, I decided I wanted to find a way to read poems every single day, and I did. What I didn't do is start waking up before dawn each day to read Emily Dickinson's collected works for an hour. I knew I'd never follow through on something like that. Instead, I just found sneaky ways to make poetry part of my existing routines: scrolling on social media, listening to podcasts on my commute, and checking my email.
At the risk of sounding dramatic, this daily poetry habit has made my life better, deeper, and more rewarding. And I think it has the potential to do that for other people - whether or not they consider themselves a reader with a capital R. Ahead are the podcast, Instagram account, and newsletter I suggest seeking out if you want to make poetry a habit.
Converse Released Iridescent Sneakers So Magical, Even Cinderella Isn't Worthy
Have a seat, because we have some earth-shattering news for you. These Converse Chuck Taylor Hi Silver Mini Sequin Sneakers ($70) were just released, and they are the stuff of dreams. The shoes remind us of Cinderella's glass slippers if a princess actually got to choose comfort for once. These enchanting kicks have plenty of sheen that catches the light, giving them the iridescence we're obsessed with.
Besides being ridiculously cute, these shoes are also comfortable. If you look closely, you'll see that they're made with hundreds of tiny little sequins. Who else is buying these babies? We like them so much, we're getting pairs for our BFFs, too.

18 Movies and Documentaries About the Olympics That'll Get You Excited For Tokyo 2020
The start of the 2020 Summer Olympics may still be months away, but, if you ask us devoted Olympics watchers, it's never too early to start getting psyched for all the athletic feats you're sure to witness. Unlike Olympic athletes, who spend their entire lives training and preparing for this moment, we have a slightly different way of gearing up for the Games: lounging on the couch, watching as many Olympic films as we can. The best ones are inspired by real-life people and events, and luckily, there are plenty of movies and documentaries available to stream right now that fit the bill. Here are just some of the best, because nothing beats an inspiring sports movie.
After a World Cup Win, Soccer Star Lindsey Horan Still Isn't Satisfied
As incredible as it was to win the FIFA Women's World Cup this past summer, US Women's National Team midfielder Lindsey Horan said she left France feeling dissatisfied. Over the course of the tournament, Lindsey racked up two goals and two assists, including a pitch-perfect lofting pass to Alex Morgan that stamped the USWNT's ticket to the final. Not at all shabby for a player coming off the bench in most games.
But that was the thing; despite the bright spots, Lindsey said, "I didn't start as many games as I wanted to and make the impact that I wanted to in the World Cup." She set aside her individual disappointment for the good of her team, because all that mattered was winning the final. "It was our goal," Lindsey said. "It was our dream." But after the celebrations were over, she felt hungrier than ever. "I wanted to play in that final and I wanted to start in that final," she said. "I don't want that to happen again. So now it's kind of like, 'What can I do to better myself [so] the next final there is, I'll be playing in it, and hopefully be starting? What can I do to make myself better, where it's not a question whether I'm going to play or not?"
For a player on the best women's soccer team in the world, the fight for playing time is constant and grueling. Even veteran stars like Carli Lloyd, she of the fastest hat trick in World Cup Final history, saw her playing time take a dip during the last World Cup. The level of talent on the team is simply that high. "There's never this feeling of comfort or content because if you fall into that area you might lose your spot," Lindsey told POPSUGAR. "I think that's what makes it so special and so good."
As the page turns to the Olympics, the team's focus is as intense as it was last year - and maybe even more so, after that kind of showing at the World Cup. They have a reputation to defend and history still to make. "We've never won a back-to-back World Cup and Olympics," Lindsey said. "So as a team we've tried to shift focus." For Lindsey, that means getting back into hard training sessions, whether she's at camp with the team or putting in individual work at home in Denver. "It's nonstop fitness and lifting," she said. (FYI, this is a player who has described her go-to ab workout as "six minutes of hell.") A healthy diet is crucial as well. Lindsey will grab cereal and yogurt with fruit for breakfast, then have avocado toast for lunch, supplementing with a Quest Bar for a protein-rich afternoon or post-workout snack. Dinner is more protein and veggies. Then rest, sleep, and repeat.
It takes the highest level of commitment to make this roster, let alone secure a starting position, but it's paid off for Lindsey so far. Under the USWNT's new coach, Vlatko Andonovski, she saw more playing time during the team's successful Olympic Qualifying run this month. Against Panama, she even netted her first pro hat trick (three goals in one game). "I had no idea [until] someone said it to me on the field," Lindsey said. Self-deprecatingly, she admitted, "I thought it was probably one of the lamest hat tricks I've ever seen . . . It was just little dinky goals! But I was very happy afterward and I think goals are goals."
And Lindsey has met daunting challenges before and come out the better for them: notably, moving to France at age 18 to play for pro club Paris Saint Germain. The move made her the first female American soccer player to sign a pro contract straight out of high school. "I struggled a lot and had to grow up really quickly, on and off the field," Lindsey said. The new culture, the new language, having to fight for playing time against a full team of pros: despite it all, "France was probably the best thing for me," Lindsey said. "All the things I took away from it and learned from it."
She'll be putting those lessons to use again soon. The Olympic roster has space for only 18 players, five fewer than the USWNT took to the World Cup. Lindsey doesn't mince words about it: now is the time to show what she's got. "It's a huge year for me," she said. "My preparation and everything I've done individually has been fully focused on the Olympics, and what I can do and how I can impact it as a player."

Hilary Duff Seemingly Addresses Lizzie McGuire Hiatus With a Cryptic Comment
This is definitely not what dreams are made of! Disney+'s upcoming Lizzie McGuire reboot halted production in January, and it looks like things are still being figured out. "Fans have a sentimental attachment to Lizzie McGuire and high expectations for a new series," a Disney spokesperson told the publication. "After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show." As a result, the show's original creator Terri Minsky has stepped down as showrunner.
Hilary Duff recently seemed to address the halt when she posted a screenshot on her Instagram Stories of a news headline that revealed that Disney+'s Love, Simon series (now titled Love, Victor) moved to Hulu because it wasn't "family-friendly" enough for the brand. In her post, Duff circled the words "family-friendly," writing, "Sounds familiar."
So, what exactly does this mean for the fate of the series? While production has been placed on hiatus as the show looks for a new showrunner, it doesn't entirely mean the show has been canceled. However, it could delay the release date quite a bit. Filming first kicked off in November 2019, and Disney+ recently teased the show's release in a video that featured their upcoming 2020 titles.
As previously revealed, the reboot will "revolve around Lizzie as a 30-year-old millennial navigating life in New York City." In addition to Duff, the McGuire family - Jake Thomas, Hallie Todd, and Robert Carradine - will also be reprising their roles along with Adam Lamberg as Lizzie's childhood best friend Gordo. Here's hoping we'll be reunited with Lizzie and the rest of the gang soon enough!

We Can Already Tell These Body-Sculpting Kettlebell Moves Are Going to Leave Us Sore
Fitness trends come and go, but there's something to be said about a classic that gets your entire body in shape, like kettlebells. Experts agree, kettlebells are not only great for your core, but are some of the most underrated equipment for strength training. According to Kendall Wood, MS, CSCS, an NASM-certified personal trainer, "kettlebell workouts are among the best for total-body benefits, if you pick the moves that harness as many muscles as possible."
With that in mind, we asked Wood for his best kettlebell moves that'll transform your entire body by forcing you to use muscles in your body that usually get overlooked when similar exercises are done with machines or dumbbells. These exercises are great for beginners (stick to 6- to 8-kilogram kettlebells if that's you) or advanced trainers, and can be included in virtually any other workout you're currently doing. They aren't easy (don't say we didn't warn you), but you'll definitely see results if you use them in your workout.

The Voice: This Teen Totally Wowed Kelly Clarkson With Her Stunning Billie Eilish Cover
I just want to listen to Chelle sing Billie Eilish all day. On Tuesday, the 18-year-old singer from Indiana performed Eilish's hit single "Idontwannabeyouanymore" for her audition on The Voice, and it instantly caught the attention of coach Blake Shelton. Newcomer to the show Nick Jonas turned after with Kelly Clarkson following behind.
"Since whenever I was your age, I would overthink everything," Clarkson told Chelle. "You know, we're singers and you want to do well, but you're also a storyteller. I heard so much beautiful potential. Quit trying to be perfect all the time and really get lost in the message."
Hmm . . . can you guess who Chelle went with? Watch her full audition above to see the gorgeous cover and the judges's response. I can't wait to see how her talents evolve over the season.

Is Madison Leaving The Bachelor on Her Own? There's Definitely Some Drama Ahead
Front-runner Madison Prewett is at the center of the most recent The Bachelor drama, to the point that we're wondering if she actually leaves the show by her own choice! After a frustrating and emotional Fantasy Suites week, it seems very much within the realm of possibility that Madison will self-eliminate before Peter makes his final choice.
Let's recap to start. During Fantasy Suite week, Madison confided to Peter that she's choosing to be celibate until marriage and that it would be very difficult for her if he were to sleep with the other women during the overnight dates. Peter did, in fact, have sex during the Fantasy Suites, and when Madison found out that he had (both from the other women and from Peter himself), they both were clearly upset and ended the night in tears. At one point, Madison actually walked away from the table to collect herself. Peter went after her, and they ended the episode hugging, but clearly with things not resolved at all.
So where does that leave us? In the promo for the season finale, we can see glimpses of the rose ceremony that's intended to narrow things down to the final two. From the looks of things, Hannah Ann and Victoria are clearly at the ceremony - but there's no trace of Madison. The promo also shows Peter apologizing to someone (who we, of course, can't see) and breaking down in tears. The implication seems to be that Madison might not have been able to overcome her feelings over him sleeping with the others after she'd told him what it meant to her, and that she leaves on her own before the rose ceremony.
Of course, this is The Bachelor, so there are plenty of other theories and "spoilers" floating around. (Read ahead at your own risk!) One popular one, suggested even by Bachelor spoiler guru Reality Steve, is that the promo is both accurate and misleading: that Madison does leave on her own, but not before the final-two rose ceremony. The theory goes that she does, ultimately, feel like she and Peter are too much of a mismatch (especially when it comes to sex), that she decides to leave, and that she's the one Peter's mom is begging him to go after in that much-discussed promo clip.
This would put us in a situation somewhat like Colton Underwood's season, where his frontrunner Cassie quit the show but he chose to eliminate the other contestants and pursue her outside the normal parameters of the show. Madison's discomfort in the post-Fantasy Suite situation is clear, and she seems pretty confident in what she wants - it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine her bailing out on her own terms. But would she take him back if he does come after her? One thing is for certain: this season's finale promises to be even more drama-packed than the last one, for better or worse.

Oh My Marshmallow! Swiss Miss Is Releasing Lucky Charms Hot Chocolate
As if I needed another reason to count down the days until Summer, Swiss Miss is releasing hot cocoa mix with Lucky Charms marshmallows, and I am beyond ready for a steaming cup full of it by the campfire. The nonfat hot chocolate will be available for $3 per box beginning this Summer, and each box will come with six packets of Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa Mix and six packets of Lucky Charms Marshmallows. So all I need to re-create Chrissy Teigen's boozy hot chocolate hack is a box of this and a little bit of rum. Just like Swiss Miss's Unicorn Hot Chocolate With Marshmallows, I already know I'm going to be stocking up on boxes of this all year long. Keep scrolling to take a closer look at the colorful hot chocolate for yourself ahead.
Kristen Bell's Daughter Washed Her Hair With Vaseline, and the Internet Came to the Rescue
In this month's hilarious parenting news, a few weeks ago Kristen Bell had to turn to the internet for advice after her 5-year-old daughter Delta washed her hair with Vaseline - and it was not easy to get out. "My daughter just washed her hair with Vaseline and I can't get it out . . . has this ever happened to anyone?" Kristen asked in her Instagram Stories on Feb. 4 before showing a glimpse of her daughter's head absolutely covered in petroleum jelly from root to tip. "I washed it three times now and it's not getting any better," Kristen added.
In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Feb. 25, Kristen then explained that Delta got her hands on the tub of Vaseline (the majority of which then went into her hair) after Delta asked her to leave the room so she could role play with her dolls in the tub. Luckily, after she posted her distress call, Kristen's Instagram followers quickly came to the rescue, suggesting dish soap as a solution. "I appreciate that; I'm very grateful for you guys, 'cause I don't know what I'm doing," Kristen said in a follow-up video, clearly thankful for all the help.
Unfortunately, the dish soap suggestion didn't entirely work. "How you get it out is this: three rounds of Hello Bello shampoo, one round of clarifying shampoo, two rounds of dish soap, and then we still had to wait four days 'cause none of that worked," Kristen told Ellen. FYI, if this ever happens to your child, it's best to wash their hair with clarifying shampoo and run makeup remover wipes over their hair until all the gunk is out, according to Today Parents.
Kristen and her husband Dax Shepard have been through their fair share of hilarious ordeals with their two daughters - 6-year-old Lincoln Bell Shepard and 5-year-old Delta Bell Shepard - who are already little pranksters, and something tells me this won't be the last of it.
I'll Say It: Hulu's High Fidelity Reboot Is Too Loyal to the Original Movie
I cringed when I heard that High Fidelity would be the latest old Hollywood IP to be rebooted, as I am a self-identified High Fidelity stan. The 2000 movie starring John Cusack has always been my heartbreak comedy-drama North Star, and like any protective fan, I didn't want it sullied by a carbon-copy pretender. I'm delighted to admit that I was wrong - the gender-flipped reboot starring Zoë Kravitz in Cusack's role has been translated into a cool, refreshing take on modern love.
However, there's one big issue: High Fidelity (2020) is too loyal to High Fidelity (2000). It was expected that the Hulu show would borrow largely from the film, and it does, although to use the word borrow would be a vast understatement. Kravitz's character is named Rob (short for Robyn, which is cute. On the nose, but cute.). Rob runs a record store called Championship Vinyl. She has two employees and a crippling introspection regarding her love life. Those things felt like a given, but one choice the series makes goes too far and crosses over from homage to overkill. The film's dialogue, verbatim, is used throughout the series. The actors even tend to deliver most of these lines in the exact same fashion as in the film.
In the pilot, I smiled when I recognized some of the movie's familiar lines, particularly in the opening scene where Rob is saying goodbye to her lover, Mac, who she realizes is The One, which is, of course, exactly how the film opens. But then as the episode went on, I recognized more and more lines. In subsequent episodes - all 10 - the movie's lines continue to be woven in until it feels like pretty much every single word of dialogue from the film is spoken.
Neither Rob nor Cherise deserves to be a version of someone else.
It's not just the lines; the plot of the first season loosely follows that of the film, down to the fact that one of the show's most dynamic characters, Cherise (Da'Vine Joy Randolph), is a woman version of Jack Black's character Barry. Cherise is an electric, whole enough character that she doesn't need to be a Black, woman (almost exact) version of Barry. It doesn't help that Kravitz's Rob is so much like Cusack's Rob at some turns (Kravitz's line delivery frequently uses the same cadence as Cusack, reducing her to what feels like an imitation of him). It's not necessary. Kravitz's Rob is an incredible character. Neither Rob nor Cherise deserves to be a version of someone else.
What makes this worth pointing out is that the show thrives in its differences from the film. Kravitz's presence always seemed interesting because she's the real-life daughter of one of the film's stars - mom Lisa Bonet played Marie De Salle, one of Cusack's love interests - but the show tackles the larger implication around Kravitz's Rob being a young woman of color. The realm of the record store is traditionally the domain of men, and the music industry is where the white men opinion has been prized for decades. The film, of course, reinforces this. But here, in today's Championship Vinyl, there are two young Black women and one white gay man discussing music, waxing about pop culture, and forming Top 5 lists. Not only does it feel fresh, it becomes more culturally relevant in a scene where an older, white man invalidates Rob's music cred by ignoring her opinion while speaking only to her companion, who is a man. It's a painfully familiar scene to any woman, and especially women of color, who asserts her opinion in a traditionally men-dominated space.
And like Cusack's Rob, who fulfills his fantasy in the film by sleeping with a beautiful musician (Bonet), Robin also sleeps with a beautiful musician (Thomas Doherty), but her fantasy unappealingly morphs into that of a 30-year-old woman groupie. This High Fidelity is self-aware and refreshing until the movie's lines surface to make you feel like you've seen this all before. It feels lazy.
So worn out are the movie's lines that it seems like there won't be any left for season two, if the show gets picked up for another (and it should). Even as someone who loves the movie desperately, I'd be happy if the series left the film behind, only using beats of it as an homage, the way a song playing in the background can remind you of a beloved scene - but not hit you over the head with it.

Wilson Phillips Re-Created Their Iconic Bridesmaids Performance With Kelly Clarkson
Kelly Clarkson just won't stop dropping gems on her daytime talk show. During Monday's "Kellyoke" segment, The Kelly Clarkson Show host was joined by the women of Wilson Phillips for a performance of their 1990 hit jam "Hold On." Not only does Clarkson's melodious voice fit right in with the trio, but movie-lovers will recall seeing the group perform the classic in Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig's Bridesmaids.
Who could forget the moment when Rose Byrne surprises Rudolph's Lillian with a live performance by Wilson Phillips during her wedding ceremony? Even though Wiig's Annie is reluctantly impressed (which is basically her mood thoroughly the entire film), she still joins the epic singalong because you don't let that kind of opportunity pass you by! Neither Wiig nor Rudolph made a special appearance during Clarkson's cover with the musical trio, but it's still an amazing performance! Watch the foursome above, then check out Wilson Phillips performing the song in Bridesmaids.
