Healthy lifestyle

A healthy lifestyle is one which helps to keep and improve people's health and well-being.Many governments and non-governmental organizations have made big efforts in healthy lifestyle and health promotion.

Mental Health

Mental health can be considered a very important factor of physical health for the effects it produces on bodily functions. This type of health concerns emotional and cognitive well-being or an absence of mental disorder.

Public health

Public health can be defined in a variety of ways. It can be presented as "the study of the physical, psychosocial and socio-cultural determinants of population health and actions to improve the health of the population.

Reproductive Health

For the UN, reproductive health is a right, like other human rights. This recent concept evokes the good transmission of the genetic heritage from one generation to the next.

Health

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: DIY the Braided Bun That Seriously Won't Budge While You Work Out

January is notoriously the busiest month for gym-goers, and if you're committing to better fitness habits this year, then you should do it with style. To help up your workout hair game, we asked celebrity stylist Sarah Potempa to create five easy braided looks that will hold your strands in place in the most eye-catching way. Bobbi Brown makeup artist Kim Soane painted the faces of our fitness blogger models, Chase Lindsay Rosen of Athleisurely and Evann Clingan of her eponymous site, using long-wear, waterproof products. Everything was photographed at the iconic Chelsea Piers, which boasts a bevy of creative sweat-inducing classes. Every day this week, we will be revealing a new look (such as this French fishtail ponytail).

Second up: a braided bun created by Sarah on Evann for beach volleyball (or whatever sport you choose!). It's great for grown-out bangs or layers since hair won't fall in front of your face. Plus, it looks elegant enough to wear out after class.

"This look is perfect for if you were playing beach volleyball or a fun sporting activity, so you can have a little more fun with your bun and make it more textured," Sarah said.

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:4 Tips to Make Keeping Your New Year's Resolutions Easy

If you're finding it difficult to adhere to the resolutions you created for yourself back in 2015, you're not alone. We may already be into January, but you still have time to rework them. So whether you made hard-to-keep promises or are looking to make some adjustments, we have four tips that will help you keep your 2016 goals.

Be sure you picked something you can measure

Hopefully you didn't create a lofty goal that you can't achieve - it will linger and make you feel bad about yourself. Instead, tweak it and come up with a big-picture idea, then spend time figuring out how you'll tackle that goal. If you want to become fit, decide what that means and set a daily goal. Use an activity tracker to help keep track of steps, for example.

Don't overthink it

In the same vein, remove the pressure to do something monumental that will change the world (although, we highly support that goal). You can focus on something small, like being nicer to people or meeting more strangers. Just a little token can make a big difference.

Everyone fails

Really, they do. If you were hoping to shed pounds and have found yourself elbow deep in a plate of chocolate cake, just smile through it. Enjoy the cake and decide that you haven't forgotten about your goal. It's OK to slip up and take steps back. In the end, it's all about where you finish.

Be sure to reward yourself

Pay close attention to all the minimilestones you achieve and celebrate when you reach them. Perhaps new workout gear or tools?

Healthy,Food Magazine,Healthy Recipes,Food Guide :Stop Wasting Fruit With This Simple Tip

Plump berries, juicy watermelon, tangy pineapple, and crisp apples practically beg to be toted home from the market by the bushel. The problem is that most of these fruits have a relatively short shelf life and are easy to overlook for more accessible, already prepped snacks like nuts, crackers, and hummus. If you find yourself regretfully tossing out spoiled, overripe fruit more often than you'd care to admit, try this strategy on for size.

The next time you come home from the market, don't relegate your fruit stash to the fruit bowl and fridge; instead, do the prep work now and divvy up the spoils into airtight containers. This means rinsing and completely drying berries, peeling and sectioning clementines, peeling and dicing kiwis or mangos, cutting nectarines or plums away from their pits before dicing, and breaking down and dicing pineapples and watermelons.

It might seem like a lot of prep work, but you're much more likely to actually eat your produce haul before it rots if you take this step. Basically, you're making your own custom fruit salad!

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:Make Life Easier With These 5 Gym-Bag Must Dos

Going from home to work to gym can require a lot of forethought. Don't make having an empty gym bag the reason you skipped a workout today.

Related: Time-Saving Tips For a Lunchtime Workout

  1. Always pack the night before: You don't want to have to scramble to find a pair of socks when you're already running late in the morning. Make a habit of repacking your bag every night before you go to bed; you'll be grateful the next morning when you have one less thing to deal with. Don't forget to fill your water bottle and keep it in the fridge to grab right before you head out as well.
  2. Wipes are your best friend: Whether it's wiping off pore-clogging makeup before Zumba or giving yourself a quick refresh when you realize you're late for a meeting, having a stash of face or body wipes will help you get where you need to be in a flash. We like the cooling, affordable Yes to Cucumbers face wipes ($8).
  3. And the extras: It always helps to keep a few extra items in your gym bag for those days when you realize you forgot something essential. Hair ties, band-aids, and a few nonperishable snacks are just a few extras that should find a home in your gym bag. Here are some more items to pack.
  4. Keep it separate: Wet swimsuits, just-used shower shoes, and sweaty workout clothes can breed bacteria. Keep a plastic or resusable wet bag in your gym bag - or designate an entire compartment for these items only - so you can keep damp clothes contained.
  5. Clean it out: For similar germ-related reasons, make sure you give your gym bag a regular clean out. Take some time every weekend to throw away any old tissues or half-eaten snacks that have made their way into your bag, clean those shower shoes, and wipe down or wash the bag itself in order to prevent germs from festering.

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:15 Mini Resolutions That Can Still Make a Huge Impact

Yes, we're officially one week into the New Year, but that doesn't mean your only opportunity to set a healthy resolution is in the past. Make these small changes to your lifestyle and start seeing (and feeling) big results in 2016!

  1. Add intervals: Maximize your cardio with intervals. Playing with the speed burns more calories than working at a steady pace and it also revs up your metabolism.
  2. Ditch dairy: Eliminating dairy from your diet can make a big difference in your health. If you can't say goodbye forever, try eating it at only one meal a day.
  3. Lift more: Grabbing heavier weights can be the swift kick your muscles need to show off your strong and toned physique. Don't be afraid to up the ante.
  4. Cut the condiments: Save tons of calories from your meal by cutting out mayo, ketchup, or fatty salad dressing. Sub these healthier condiments instead.
  5. Try a new class: CrossFit? Bikram? Krav Maga? Try something new to keep your body guessing and see results sooner.
  6. Drink more water: From boosting your metabolism to improving your immunity, water is the one elixir you need more of in 2016. Make a point to sip all day.
  7. Make a homemade breakfast: Take the time to enjoy a healthy recipe in the morning, or make these breakfasts in advance to grab when you're on the go.
  8. Eat more protein: This macronutrient makes a huge difference when it comes to losing weight and staying energized. Make sure you're getting enough every day.
  9. Skip the second cup: Bow out of your second cup of coffee, and start opting for green tea instead. Your body will thank you later in the night!
  10. Plan on Sunday: Pencil in your workouts for the week on Sunday evening. You're much more likely to make them happen if a plan in already in place.
  11. Make over your desk: Before you head home every night, take a few minutes to clean up and declutter. Keeping your workspace Zen keeps you more productive at the office.
  12. Choose color: Add colorful fruits and veggies to every meal. You'll be fueling your body with quality nutrition and building a healthy (delicious) lifestyle.
  13. Tack on 10 minutes: You don't need to reinvent the wheel at every workout. Simply tack on an additional 10 minutes to your cardio and strength-training plan to challenge your body.
  14. Say yes: Whether it's a new ingredient, intimidating class, or glass of green juice, just say yes. You'll never know until you try.
  15. Get to bed: Hit the hay earlier, and make sure you're getting at least seven hours of sleep every night. You'll start waking up feeling fabulous, energized, and ready to embrace the day.

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:Above or Below Freezing: What to Wear on Winter Runs

If you're forgoing the comfortable temperatures of your gym this Winter, that can mean dealing with a lot of snow, ice, hail, rain, and sleet. Winter running has just as many challenges as running in extreme heat, but with the right gear, you'll stay warm, dry, and comfortable.

Your comfort level depends on many factors, including how fast you're running, how comfortable you are in the cold, and how long your run is, so your perfect Winter outfit may differ. However, below are good rules of thumb for dressing for Winter running, whether it's in snowy, freezing conditions or slighter warmer temps.

When It's 32 Degrees or Below

  • Start off with a wicking bra and a wicking tank. We love Ibex sports tops since they are made of comfy, breathable, and natural merino wool.
  • Pull on a long-sleeved midweight base-layer shirt made from either nonitchy merino wool or polyester.
  • Slip on wicking socks that go up to your knees to keep your calves warm. Lightweight ski socks do just the trick; many, like these Smartwool PhD Snowboard Light socks ($16, originally $24), are made of a natural and synthetic blend that keeps your toes warm without too much bulk.
  • Wear warm running tights on your legs. Try these Under Armour cold-weather compression leggings ($70).
  • Over the long-sleeved shirt, wear a fitted, wind-stopping softshell like this one from The North Face ($149).
  • Running gloves or liners will protect your hands.
  • Wear a lightweight hat so your head doesn't get too sweaty.
  • On cold days, wear a fleece neck warmer. It will keep your neck and chin warm while also helping to prevent burning lungs.
  • Facial sunscreen and lip balm with SPF are both musts, as are sunglasses to protect your eyes. Snow reflects the sun's harmful UV rays, and the light bouncing off the snow can be blinding.
  • Water-resistant but breathable running shoes help make snowy or rainy conditions bearable for your feet. These Salomon XR Mission trail-running shoes ($77, originally $110) are made just for bad Winter weather. Wearing gaiters over your calves will keep your ankles and legs dry when the snow is deep.
  • When it's icy, slip on a set of Yaktrax Run straps ($40) on your running shoes to give you more traction and prevent slipping on hard snow or ice.

When It's Above 32 Degrees

If temperatures are chilly where you live but haven't hit that freezing mark, you still need to dress for the weather. But while all of the above are Winter essentials in snow country, layering that much on your body in 40-degree weather can lead to a sweaty, uncomfortable run. Dressing like it's 20 degrees warmer than it is will help ensure you don't overlayer. With that said, here are some guidelines for those (slightly) warmer Winter runs.

  • Dress in layers, but leave out the insulating middle layer. Depending on the temperature, you may want to stick with a thin moisture-wicking shirt (go for short-sleeved if you are running for a long time and temperatures are 40 degrees or higher) and lightweight zippered jacket that you can easily take off when your body temperature rises. Look for a thin, waterproof windbreaker with vents to keep you dry and comfortable if it's raining, and choose a jacket with zippered pockets as well to stash any headgear or gloves when you warm up.
  • If it's windy, you probably will need running tights to help insulate your legs from the chill. If there's not a lot of wind, regular fast-drying pants should work.
  • If you find that hats trap too much heat while you run in warmer Winter weather, look for ear-covering headbands that keep your ears warm while preventing overheating.
  • Rainy Winters call for shoes that protect your feet, so look for shoes that have as little mesh as possible for your wet Winter runs. Trail runners work perfectly; just be sure to wear noncotton moisture-wicking socks and avoid puddles as much as possible.
  • Gloves are still important in above-freezing temperatures, since cold weather can chill your extremities and cause discomfort while you run. Go for thin, wind-resistant gloves without the bulk, and stash them in your pockets after you warm up.
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and lip balm with SPF are still a good idea, even if you're running under cloudy skies. The sun's UV rays can pass through clouds.

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: Why This Woman's Hair-Loss Story Is Going Totally Viral

Hair loss of any kind is devastating, but it is perhaps most upsetting when the root cause is completely untreatable. Imgur user GeniusesGoingWheee, whose real name is Samantha, suffers from alopecia areata, which is a disease that results in patchy areas on the scalp.

Though we all know how harsh Internet citizens can be when people reveal their true selves, Samantha bravely exposed her alopecia on Imgur in a plea for help. Along with a link to her GoFundMe page, she shared her heart-wrenching story.

"I try and keep a positive attitude and smile as much as possible," she said. "But sometimes it's really hard. It's really easy to get down on yourself when you look in the mirror and don't have any hair." Diagnosed in 2007 with the illness, Samantha was so disheartened by her patchy mane that she ended up shaving her head in 2013.

However, this look took a toll on her self-confidence, and she became exhausted by the constant questions about her bald pate. Samantha began the arduous process of trying to get a wig, or "full cranial prosthesis," covered by her health insurance. Months later, she was approved - and she cried tears of joy - only to call her provider and find that the letter was sent in error.

"Wigs are something that 'won't be, and will never be covered' by my insurance company," she said of the devastating news. Though she saved up to buy a wig on her own, it is not of high quality. The wig has deteriorated so much that Samantha must always wear it with a hat, so she is reaching out through GoFundMe for help.

"I am attending school at the University of Montana for Biology with a minor in Immunology, as I would like to do research on this disease and help many around the world," she said. "Unfortunately, receiving an education is very expensive and I am unable to afford another wig that gives me back the outlandish personality and self-confidence I once had. Receiving a new wig would change the world for me, so hopefully I can go on and change the world for many others with my condition."

The high-quality hairpiece that Samantha needs to feel like herself again is about $2,000, and she is already more than halfway toward hitting her goal on GoFundMe. If you've ever suffered from hair loss, you know that it can have a hugely negative impact on your life. It's not an issue of vanity, it's an issue of identity. We know that Samantha's well-being will surge dramatically if she gets the help she needs.

Read on to see more pictures of Samantha, then visit her GoFundMe page to donate to her cause.

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: This Video of Hair Being Transformed Into a Hat Will Blow Your Mind

If you've ever doubted that styling hair is indeed a true form of art, then this GIF will settle those doubts. This stylist took his creativity beyond dyeing rainbow strands and forming detailed updos to create a life-size fascinator (similar to the ones worn by the royals) completely out of the model's blond mane.

The incredible time lapse shows him starting by separating a section of hair into a pinwheel shape, then teasing and molding her tresses to form the base of a hat. He then pulls in various loops and directions to create a brim and completes it with a dramatic floral accent. The finished result is fascinating!

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:Giving Up Dairy Changed My Body in So Many Surprising Ways

In my 20s, I was a french-fry, soy-ice-cream, pasta-and-bread-loving vegan. I ended up gaining 40 pounds and - surprise, surprise - always felt tired, foggy-headed, and on the brink of another cold. After six years, I started eating eggs and dairy, and I felt a little better, but that's probably because I was finally eating healthier, in an attempt to lose all the weight I'd gained.

Fast-forward 12 years to the Summer of 2014. I was sitting on my couch, flipping through Netflix, and stumbled upon the documentary Vegucated. It takes the stance that being vegan is better for the planet and kinder to animals, and after seeing some heartbreaking video footage, I felt compelled to eat more compassionately and ditch dairy on the spot. I had no idea how dramatically my life was about to improve. Here's what I noticed within two months of going dairy-free.

Wait, Are These My Skinny Jeans?

Getting dressed one chilly September morning, I grabbed a pair of my favorite skinny jeans and they slipped right on! Since I tend to gain a little weight in the Summer, I was expecting to have to wrestle with them for a bit, but they didn't feel tight whatsoever. I even slipped them off to check the label to make sure they were the right pair. Yeah, you bet I was smiling and feeling pretty awesome. Since having two kids, I'd been carrying around a few extra pounds that were holding on for dear life (really, my youngest is now 2!), and ditching dairy made it happen in two months without any other change.

Bye-Bye Bloat

Know what the number one reason was for my Costco membership? Lactaid pills. Yep, I popped one every time I ate because even the tiniest drop of butter in a cracker could set me off. I wasn't always lactose intolerant, but it hit me hard when I went away to college, which was one of the reasons I went vegan back then. I couldn't leave my house without some trusty pills in my pocket, and I popped at least five a day. My body was telling me not to eat dairy and here I was devouring it every chance I got. And boy, did I pay the price. My belly was constantly bloated and I had more than my fair share of emergency bathroom runs. It seems obvious to anyone that you should stop eating the one thing that makes you feel horrible, but I guess I didn't realize just how bad I was feeling until I started feeling amazing.

What's That Amazing Smell?

Sinus surgery. That was the recommendation after years of chronic and painful sinus infections, extensive allergy testing, two CT scans, daily nasal sprays and antihistamines, twice-daily dates with my Neti Pot, months of heavy-duty antibiotics, and heartbreakingly having to find a new home for my two cats. The ear, nose, and throat specialist said it was one of the worst cases he'd seen, and said surgery to remove the congestion and widen my sinuses should be the next step. Talk about scared. There had to be another solution.

I'd heard that dairy can contribute to congestion but considered not being able to breathe or smell a fair trade for cheese. It's been two months of being dairy free, and now that Fall is in full swing, I should be miserable with allergy stuffiness and sinus pressure. But I'm not. My doctor can't believe I haven't needed to refill my meds. I even went apple picking and could actually smell the cider donuts cooking (not that I could eat one!). I teared up. I had a moment right there in the apple orchard. And to think, I almost went through with surgery, when all I needed to do was say no to cheese.

Did You Change Moisturizers?

Seriously, someone asked me this, and I was thrilled. My skin has never been clearer. I didn't have a bad acne problem, but a pimple always seemed to be cropping up, which was pretty embarrassing for someone in their late 30s. My skin is smoother, softer, and has more of a natural glow. It makes sense, since cow's milk contains growth hormone, fats, and sugars (yes, organic milk, too), which can aggravate the skin. There's definitely some strong data showing the correlation between dairy and acne, and although it can take up to six months for skin to heal, I noticed a difference within a month.

Smoothies, Salads, and Sweet Potatoes

Like most people, I tried to eat healthy, but when you're in a rush or tired from a long day, you grab the quickest thing. As a vegetarian, cheese was like its own food group to me, and admittedly, cheesy pesto paninis, creamy pasta, and pizza were always on the menu. I had to completely rethink my meals and found that with a little bit of prep, I was eating so much healthier. I made green smoothies for breakfast, salads for lunch, and got really creative with using tempeh, tofu, lentils, beans, whole grains, and all sorts of veggies. Ditching dairy meant that I made room for foods that were much more nutrient-packed, and I no longer felt heavy after meals.

Another Three Miles? Sure!

Eating healthier also meant I had more energy. Whether it was going for a run, bike ride, hike, or teaching a yoga class, I felt so peppy and fired up. I had more days in the past two months where I felt like I could keep going and going than I ever had when I was eating dairy. Maybe this is the reason so many athletes go vegan.

Final Thoughts

I know what you're thinking. "I could never live without __________." So don't. If you want to avoid dairy but you could never give up pizza, then give up dairy except for pizza. I will say that for most of your favorite foods there are some pretty outstanding alternatives. My kitchen is constantly stocked with soy milk, soy yogurt, Earth Balance buttery spread, and my fave - almond milk ice cream. Personally, I wasn't a fan of vegan cheeses so I just leave it off my pizza or sandwiches, or make my own using raw cashews. Please don't mourn for the cookies and pancakes you can't eat. There are so many dairy-free recipes that taste as awesome as ones containing milk and butter. Once you get used to cooking and eating in this new way, it'll feel just as easy as your diet feels now. If you can't go cold turkey, do what you can and gradually take milk out of your diet. If your experience is anything like mine, the benefits will speak for themselves, and you'll be inspired to eliminate dairy completely.

As the weather cools down and the fireplaces warm up, there's one hair accessory we look forward to breaking out more than any other: the knit headband. (Snag one in the Special Edition Holiday POPSUGAR Must Have box!)

At Los Angeles salon to the stars 901 Too, styling expert Krystina DeGennaro and her team are experts at working this beloved accessory into Winter hairstyles. Below are her foolproof tips for rocking a knit headband like a pro, followed by our favorite shopping picks from this season's collections.

For longer hair:

"For someone with thick, curly hair, especially if it's long, it's cute to place it crown-like over the top of the head. To accentuate those loose waves, add some texturizing spray and potentially even add in a braid underneath or on the side."

For updos:

"Another fun look is if you do a messy, loose, piecey updo with the knit headband in between. I would even flip the hair in the back over it, blending it in, leaving it to peek through in the front."

For a quick style:

"I would even do a knot bun on top, leaving out some dangling pieces on the sides to achieve a bohemian, effortless look."

For short hair:

"For short hair, knit headbands look the best if you leave your hair down - maybe even messing it up a bit with some pomade."

For thin hair:

"I would also incorporate expander dust, especially if you have fine hair that needs an extra lift in between the headband on the top, this product will give you extra volume there."

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:Forget the Resolution, These 9 Tips Will Actually Make Fitness Your Priority

The following post was originally featured on Fit Bottomed Girls, who is part of POPSUGAR Select Fitness.

Your busy life needs some good old-fashioned order to make fitness a priority. After all, practicing good habits leads to good experience and great results. These nine tips are a perfect way to complement your life and introduce fitness to your day to keep you focused on your goals, plan ahead and get you the results you deserve. Because you deserve to feel happy and healthy!

1. Start Small

Before you do anything, you have to get your fitness goals in order. Decide on your goals, when you can squeeze workouts into your week, where you plan to workout, which workouts you plan to do and how often. These are the first initial steps to guide you through the next.

2. Save Time

Since you live a busy life, saving time is important. Find ways to spend less time traveling to the gym and more time at the gym. Think about bringing your gym equipment with you to work and changing there so you can get started as soon as you arrive. And think about showering at home to help you beat any traffic. The less you stress about time the better you'll feel.

3. Work Out Outside the Gym

All your workouts don't need to be at the gym. If you know you won't be able to make it tomorrow, wake up 10 minutes earlier and work out before you start your day. If you need a quick pick-me-up midday, hop up and do some push-ups on your desk, add some calf raises and even some squats for full-body blood flow. The world is your playground.

4. Make Fitness Part of Your Everyday Life

The more you incorporate fitness into your regular activities, the better your body will look and feel. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park farther away from the office and walk a few extra blocks. You won't feel it, but your body will know you're putting in extra work and the results will show.

5. Interval Training

If you're short on time try High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Think fast-paced, minimal rest and all-out energy. Whether you do Tabata, interval training on a treadmill or circuit series, save time while getting amazing results with HIIT.

6. Lose Bad Habits

Shedding bad habits will make the difference in your fitness goal. Avoid poor posture, losing focus when you're training and staying stuck on the same routine week after week. These small little habits lead to injury, limit your success and eventually make fitness feel dull.

7. Stay Patient

Life can go on a bumpy path occasionally. The best way to handle it is to find detours. You'll never know what tomorrow brings, so always have a back-up plan to keep your fitness plan going. Also, keep in mind that no one gets amazing results instantly. Pace your body and your training, and know that change is coming.

8. Rest

As much as you want to work out, without rest you'll hardly notice your progress. Aim to get a full eight hours of sleep, take off days at the gym, warm up before a workout and cool down to make sure you never push it too hard.

9. Breathe

Your body needs oxygen flowing to function properly. So when your heart rate is increasing from exercise, you'll want to ensure that you're breathing fully. Proper breathing makes all the difference in turning eight reps into 12 and jogging three miles versus one.

You're all set! These nine tips will set you on the path for everyday fitness success. Grab your gear and get ready on a new path to a healthier lifestyle. - Kevin Jones

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:How Often You Should Weigh Yourself If You Want to Lose Weight

If one of your resolutions is to lose weight, keeping track of your progress is an important part of the process. But how much is too much when it comes to weighing yourself? Experts used to suggest hopping on the scale once each week, but more studies are showing that daily weigh-ins may have more successful payoffs.

A small study run by Cornell University found that men and women who weighed themselves daily and tracked the results not only lost weight, but after two years, the average weight regained was close to zero pounds. That's huge considering many other studies show 40 percent of weight loss comes back within a year. In another small study of college students, those asked to step on a scale every day during the first 12 weeks of classes didn't put on any weight - helping avoid the "Freshman 15" altogether. In a different small two-year study of obese gym members, those asked to weigh themselves every day and chart their results lost significantly more weight and were able to keep it off.

On a personal note, I have been weighing myself daily since the end of the Summer, and I've found that the constant checking in has kept me on track. My self-control has improved because I know if I mindlessly nosh on a snack before bed, I'll be seeing it on the scale in the morning. I also have been writing down my weight each day on the Notes app on my phone, and seeing the progress in numbers is its own form of motivation.

Of course, many experts still advise against hopping on a scale every day because the natural fluctuations can create unhealthy obsessions about weight and lead to depression, especially if you have a history of those tendencies. There are other ways to keep track of your progress such as by monitoring how your clothes fit, as well as your energy levels during the day and during workouts, or by using a fitness tracker. But if you've been struggling with sticking to your healthy ways, this could be the nudge you need. It's worth giving it a shot, so try weighing yourself daily for a month or two and see what happens. Just be sure to weigh yourself at the same time every day, such as in the morning after you use the bathroom and before jumping in the shower. Use the same scale every time and it might be worth investing in one that also tracks your body mass index (BMI).
