Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: Why This Woman's Hair-Loss Story Is Going Totally Viral

Hair loss of any kind is devastating, but it is perhaps most upsetting when the root cause is completely untreatable. Imgur user GeniusesGoingWheee, whose real name is Samantha, suffers from alopecia areata, which is a disease that results in patchy areas on the scalp.

Though we all know how harsh Internet citizens can be when people reveal their true selves, Samantha bravely exposed her alopecia on Imgur in a plea for help. Along with a link to her GoFundMe page, she shared her heart-wrenching story.

"I try and keep a positive attitude and smile as much as possible," she said. "But sometimes it's really hard. It's really easy to get down on yourself when you look in the mirror and don't have any hair." Diagnosed in 2007 with the illness, Samantha was so disheartened by her patchy mane that she ended up shaving her head in 2013.

However, this look took a toll on her self-confidence, and she became exhausted by the constant questions about her bald pate. Samantha began the arduous process of trying to get a wig, or "full cranial prosthesis," covered by her health insurance. Months later, she was approved - and she cried tears of joy - only to call her provider and find that the letter was sent in error.

"Wigs are something that 'won't be, and will never be covered' by my insurance company," she said of the devastating news. Though she saved up to buy a wig on her own, it is not of high quality. The wig has deteriorated so much that Samantha must always wear it with a hat, so she is reaching out through GoFundMe for help.

"I am attending school at the University of Montana for Biology with a minor in Immunology, as I would like to do research on this disease and help many around the world," she said. "Unfortunately, receiving an education is very expensive and I am unable to afford another wig that gives me back the outlandish personality and self-confidence I once had. Receiving a new wig would change the world for me, so hopefully I can go on and change the world for many others with my condition."

The high-quality hairpiece that Samantha needs to feel like herself again is about $2,000, and she is already more than halfway toward hitting her goal on GoFundMe. If you've ever suffered from hair loss, you know that it can have a hugely negative impact on your life. It's not an issue of vanity, it's an issue of identity. We know that Samantha's well-being will surge dramatically if she gets the help she needs.

Read on to see more pictures of Samantha, then visit her GoFundMe page to donate to her cause.

Healthy,Food Magazine,Healthy Recipes,Food Guide :Yes, This Is Real Life - a Cleanse That Lets You Eat Tacos All Day, Every Day

Taco-lovers, prepare to add a new diet trend to your list of New Year's resolutions: the Taco Cleanse (no, you read that right) allows you to completely indulge in tacos for 30 days straight. A group of "vegan taco scientists" teamed up to author The Taco Cleanse, a cookbook that outlines how to live a tortilla-based diet for mood improvement (rather than weight loss).

According to the book, eating a breakfast taco (within three hours of waking up) is "proven to erase the ill effects of the previous night's toxic indulgences." A midday taco produces more physical results, including an "uplifting sensation" and "increased glow." Finally, consuming a spicy taco before sleep is said to "stimulate nocturnal imagination."

This hilarious taco pyramid even breaks down what a balanced taco diet looks like, which includes supplementing with tequila as necessary.

The Taco Cleanse understands that "cleanses are the f*cking worst" and depriving yourself of your favorite foods can make you feel grouchy and anxious. Promising to boost mood in just 24 hours, this detox plan seems too good to be true. Whether or not it actually works, we kind of like the idea of chowing down on tacos all day, every day.

Healthy,Food Magazine,Healthy Recipes,Food Guide :What Does a Starbucks Latte Macchiato Taste Like? Here's the Verdict

This is Starbucks's newest drink, the latte macchiato - a mashup of two traditional coffee shop staples to create a frothy caffeinated drink that's more milk than anything else (the milk-to-espresso ratio is what differentiates a latte from a macchiato). It's a fancy name for what's essentially foamed milk with espresso. Upon your first hot sip, you'll get the flavor of light, airy milk combined with the smooth bitterness of espresso that's been poured down the center.

If you prefer a bold cup of coffee over a light, milk-heavy beverage, you might want to skip out on this one. With no added sweetness, this is not going to please your taste buds if you typically order things like caramel macchiatos, unless you add a syrup flavor to your order. However, the latte macchiato is a good morning option for those who prefer milky espresso drinks at Starbucks. While our taste testers were divided, one who strays from sweet drinks thinks she'll be adding this to her coffee-order rotation. Personally, I'll stick to my dark roast with a pinch of sugar.

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:How Eating Chocolate For Breakfast Can Help You Lose Weight

If you love chocolate, you LOVE chocolate - there's no in between. You think about it all the time. You'd eat an entire bar if it didn't affect your waistline. But it does. So you hold back. You deny yourself the chocolaty goodness you crave until you can't handle it anymore and end up eating that entire chocolate bar you were trying so hard to ignore. There's a solution to end this crazy, unhealthy cycle. Just eat chocolate for breakfast.

Yes, you heard it right. To deal with an insatiable sweet tooth, giving into your cravings can actually curb them, preventing sweet binges later in the day. We're not suggesting you eat half a dozen chocolate-frosted doughnuts with your coffee, but go ahead and have a little taste. Add a few chocolate chips to your overnight oats, sip on a chocolate protein smoothie, or bite into a homemade chocolate almond protein bar. Getting a little taste of something sweet in a healthy way will take your mind off it, so you'll devour fewer chocolate calories later.

Kim Kardashian has a few things she wants to accomplish in 2016. She shared her hopes for this year - but don't call them resolutions.

"To be honest, I'm not really into New Year's resolutions. I've done them before, but I don't believe in them. I think setting little goals every month is productive and long-term goals (like saving money or learning a new language) are important, too. But I don't need a new calendar year to do that," Kim said.

Aside from shedding the baby weight she gained while carrying son Saint, Kim also wants to learn how to do the splits and plan a family vacation.

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:How Often Should You Weigh Yourself If You Want to Lose Weight?

If one of your resolutions is to lose weight, keeping track of your progress is an important part of the process. But how much is too much when it comes to weighing yourself? Experts used to suggest hopping on the scale once each week, but more studies are showing that daily weigh-ins may have more successful payoffs.

A
small study run by Cornell University found that men and women who weighed themselves daily and tracked the results not only lost weight, but after two years, the average weight regained was close to zero pounds. That's huge considering many other studies show 40 percent of weight loss comes back within a year. In another small study of college students, those asked to step on a scale every day during the first 12 weeks of classes didn't put on any weight - helping avoid the "Freshman 15" altogether. In a different small two-year study of obese gym members, those asked to weigh themselves every day and chart their results lost significantly more weight and were able to keep it off.

Related: What 1 Woman Wishes She'd Known Before Trying to Lose Weight - Learn From Her Mistakes

On a personal note, I have been weighing myself daily since the end of the Summer, and I've found that the constant checking in has kept me on track. My self-control has improved because I know if I mindlessly nosh on a snack before bed, I'll be seeing it on the scale in the morning. I also have been writing down my weight each day on the Notes app on my phone, and seeing the progress in numbers is its own form of motivation.

Of course, many experts still advise against hopping on a scale every day because the natural fluctuations can create unhealthy obsessions about weight and lead to depression, especially if you have a history of those tendencies. There are other ways to keep track of your progress such as by monitoring how your clothes fit, as well as your energy levels during the day and during workouts, or by using a fitness tracker. But if you've been struggling with sticking to your healthy ways, this could be the nudge you need. It's worth giving it a shot, so try weighing yourself daily for a month or two and see what happens. Just be sure to weigh yourself at the same time every day, such as in the morning after you use the bathroom and before jumping in the shower. Use the same scale every time and it might be worth investing in one that also tracks your body mass index (BMI).

Kate Middleton may be a duchess and a celebrity in her own right, but that doesn't mean her life is totally perfect - and in fact, it's her relatability that makes her so darn likable. After combing through endless photos of the royal belle since she stepped into the spotlight, we've realized that, yeah, she makes minor faux pas, too. And we're totally OK with that. She's been snapped twirling and tugging her gorgeous strands on multiple occasions (William has it so easy with his comb-over). Other times the weather - or Prince George - has sabotaged her iconic blowouts. All in all, we're comforted by the fact that even Kate has un-princess-y hair moments. Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:Nutritionists Reveal What to Eat at Lunchtime to Lose Weight

Lunchtime! You know scarfing down a burger and fries isn't the best choice if you're trying to slim down, but how do you know what is? We've enlisted the expertise of two nutritionists - Stephanie Clarke, RD, and Willow Jarosh, RD, of C&J Nutrition - to share the perfect equation for how to make a delicious and satisfying lunch that will help you lose weight. Follow their advice below to start seeing results.

Calories

If you're trying to lose weight, aim for the 400-to-450 range. If you're trying to maintain your weight, especially if you work out, aim closer to 500 calories.

Carbs

Yes, you need to eat carbs! Go for 50 to 65 grams, which is 45 to 55 percent of your lunch calories. Carbs offer your brain and your body energy, so skimping can leave you feeling sluggish. Overdoing it can also have the same affect, so stick to this range. Avoid refined carbs, like foods made with white flour and white sugar, and go for whole grains, whole grain breads and pastas, and starchy veggies and fruits.

Related: Back Off Carbs With a 1-Day Meal Plan

Protein

Go for the gold and get 20 to 30 grams of protein, which is about 17 to 25 percent of your lunch calories. A healthy dose of midday protein will help prevent the dreaded afternoon slump and will keep you feeling satisfied post-lunch so you're less likely to reach for sugary pick-me-ups.

Fats

Including healthy fats in your lunch makes your meal more satisfying, so strive for 13 to 18 grams, which is 30 to 35 percent of your total lunch calories. Including healthful sources like nuts, seeds, oils, avocado, and olives can help beat sugar cravings later.

Fiber

Shoot for at least eight grams of fiber, which is 30 percent of the daily recommended total of 25 grams per day. Including fiber-rich carbohydrates (whole grains, starchy veggies, and fruit) and fiber-containing fats (nuts and seeds) will help you reach your fiber goals.

Sugars

Healthy lunches should have four grams of sugar or fewer, but if you enjoy foods that contain natural sugars (like grapes or dried cranberries in your salad, sweet potato or squash in soups, whole pieces of fruit, or natural sweeteners like maple syrup or honey in sauces or dressings), then aim for fewer than 20 grams of sugar. Be mindful of the hidden sugars in certain products like sandwich bread; read labels, and choose those without added sugars.

Timing

Enjoy your lunch about one to three hours after your morning snack. If you eat breakfast around 7:30 and your morning snack around 10, aim to eat lunch around 12. Or if you like to exercise at noon, enjoy your lunch when you get back around 1. If you tend to forget to eat because you're so busy, set an alarm on your phone or computer to remind you to stop and nosh!

Snack Mistakes to Avoid

  • Waiting until you're famished: Busy schedules can make hitting that midday meal tough, but avoid heading to lunch when you're starving. Not only will you inhale your lunch quickly and reach for more food because your body hasn't had time to register that it's full, but also, it can also throw off your natural hunger and fullness cues for the rest of the afternoon, which can lead to eating more later in the day.
  • Eating out: Do you know how many calories are in that soup and salad you ordered from the cafe? It seems like a healthy lunch, but hidden high-calorie ingredients could make your lunch well over 600 calories. Pack lunch from home so you know exactly how much you're eating.
  • Not taking a break: When you mindlessly gobble down your lunch while doing something else like working or watching TV, your mind will be too distracted to be able to fully register each bite, so you'll tend to take in or crave more calories. Get away from your desk, get outside, or eat lunch with a friend.

Looking for other daily eating habits that will help you lose weight? Here's what to eat for breakfast, for dinner, and at snack time to lose weight.

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:Taking Control of Your Happiness Is Easier Than You Think

The following post was originally featured on Fit Bottomed Girls and written by Alison, who is part of POPSUGAR Select Fitness.

"Happiness is an inside job."

Some days I can't help but wonder if Mr. Ward got it wrong when he wrote this quote. I mean, it doesn't often feel like happiness is something that we've got any control over, does it? In fact, most days it feels as though we're purely at the mercy of the guy who just cut us off, the boss who makes us crazy, or the lady talking loudly on her cell who's blocking the entire grocery aisle.

But we aren't really at the mercy of these infuriating folks; it just feels an awful lot like we are. Emotions - however pleasant or unpleasant - come from the presence of certain substances in our own brains that are triggered by our individual experiences and personal interactions.

And now this is the part where I pause to tell you that you shouldn't throw your hands up and say "See, it's biology! I don't control my happiness." On the contrary, we really do have the power to control our emotions . . . and it's easier than you think!

First, a bit about the chemistry of happiness - those wonderful feelings of bliss are caused primarily by four hormones and neurotransmitters. Here's a list along with the quick and dirty on what they do:

Endorphins - our bodies' built-in pain reliever

Dopamine - causes those squeals of delight when we achieve a goal

Oxytocin - makes us feel loved, supported and bonded with others

Serotonin - gives us feelings of significance and makes us easier to get along with

Each one of these fabulous compounds can be triggered - in other words, you can actually give yourself a little jolt from time to time by doing some really easy stuff.

That's right, friends - it's totally possible to create little pockets of happy throughout your day no matter what your circumstances. Here's how:

How to Be Happy

Feeling anxious or down? Get your butt in gear with a high-intensity workout or watch a funny movie to give yourself a healthy dose of laughter. These - in addition to the scent of lavender and a few bites of dark chocolate - have been shown to significantly increase endorphins.

Feeling unmotivated, unproductive or lacking confidence? Set some short-term, realistic and achievable goals for yourself, then celebrate the crap out of those little victories to give yourself a much-needed and well-deserved blast of dopamine - which BTW will most likely lead you to wanting to set bigger and more satisfying goals . . . and it's the gift that keeps on giving!

Feeling disconnected and unloved? Grab a hug from someone or better yet curl up with a loved one for some snuggling to trigger the release of oxytocin. Or perhaps you need a reason to treat yo'self to a massage? Do it! That prolonged physical contact can have the same effect.

Feeling lonely and in need of attention? Give yourself a boost by spending 20 minutes outside just soaking up the sun or go for an easy run to promote serotonin production. Another option, take a minute to think about something that you're grateful for and recall the significance of that person or thing in your life - happy memories are a great way to trigger these feel-good chemicals.

So the next time everything sucks and you're having a hard time seeing a silver lining, give one of these simple tricks a go and see what happens. You could even get proactive with it and just decide to do one every morning to get your day started off on a happier note.

And even if you're still super-skeptical, try it anyway because what's so bad about snuggling, laughing, eating chocolate, and celebrating?

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: Send Trendy Designs From Your Phone Directly to Your Nails

We often get sucked into screenshotting Instagram snaps of creative nail art for hours, with lofty goals for future re-creations. But after a few attempts at painting on a Winter wonderland or our favorite sweet treat, we've given up: our creations are more fail than fab. Perfecting a decked-out manicure is tough! Pree Walia, CEO of Preemadonna, is well aware of the struggle and has created a device that is about to revolutionize your DIY game.

Like many of us, Pree had trouble giving herself trendy designs, so she decided to invent the Nailbot. This device instantly prints any decal you want directly onto your digits. To start, you prep your fingers with a base manicure in the color of your choice (try a light shade to make your art really pop!). Then, using the Preemadonna app, you select images from your camera roll that you'd like immortalized on your talons, and place your finger in a small cradle. Within five seconds, your favorite emoji (or even selfie!) will appear on your nail's surface.

Nailbot is expected to go into production in August of next year. But if you can't wait until then, show your support now by donating to the company's Indiegogo fund and preorder your own device. Until next Summer, nail lovers everywhere can relax - and trade the hours practicing their painting technique for those coming up with wild designs.

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:Because on Some Days, Yoga Pants Have No Business in the Gym

Ever worn activewear with no intentions of going to the gym? Then you'll relate to this video created by YouTube user Van Vuuren Bros on so many levels. In the two-minute-long clip, women are seen wearing all types of workout clothes, from leggings to tanks and even sports bras, but the ladies never actually step foot inside a gym. This hilarious parody video is our spirit animal because on some days, wearing yoga pants while actually binge-watching Netflix and eating pizza is definitely better than sweating it out at some CrossFit gym.

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:The Only Yoga Sequence Runners Need to Do

OK, OK! As a runner, you already know you should be stretching more, so I'm not even going to go there. I'm just going to present you with the most amazing Sun Salutation variation ever, which has been specifically designed with your runner body in mind. This sequence is full of hip openers, hamstring stretches, quad and glute toners, and lower back lengtheners; if you only do one thing today (besides go for a run), make this it. Repeat this sequence at least twice before or after a run, and you'll notice a difference.

Note that this sequence flows like regular Sun Salutations, moving from one pose to the next with each inhale and exhale. If you prefer, you can hold each of these poses for five breaths for an even longer and more intense yoga session.
