4 Lies You Shouldn't Tell Your Interviewer
People who lie during their interview or on their résumé can get stressed out because it may lead to complications during the hiring process. They may also keep worrying about the interviewer finding out. It's always good to be honest, although perhaps you should wait until you're asked before volunteering certain information. Here are a couple of lies you should refrain from telling:
Why, yes! I do kind of live here
If you've used a different address on your résumé to tailor it to where the job is based, don't lie about it when it comes up in the interview. If your potential employer asks you where you live, tell them where you currently live, but let them know that you're willing to move for the job. The problem with this lie is you may have several rounds of interviews and you'll have to keep flying back and forth for them. If they think you live in the city, they'll probably give you short notice for interviews and those last-minute flights can be really expensive.
I make so much more than my real salary
If your interviewer asks you how much you made at your last job, you may think it's a white lie to fudge the numbers a little. However, some employers ask for a copy of your W2, so you may want to be cautious about giving a fake amount because it can be construed as unethical. If you don't want to cough up your previous salary, let it be known that you don't think it has any bearing on this new job and cite the typical industry number. If you're pushed to give your previous income, tell them you won't consider an offer below $XX. This is a gray area that many have different opinions on - some like Bargaineering founder Jim Wang don't think that there's anything wrong with a little inflation, while others vehemently disagree.
That's totally my GPA
If you think that inflating your grade point average will get you the job, you may want to reconsider. Some companies request a copy of your transcript or verification with the school, especially those with job positions that require a minimum GPA.
No, I didn't get fired at my last job
Given the economy, there are plenty of people that have been laid off so don't be afraid to let the interviewer know. Try not to go into the details, especially if you harbor resentment, and let her know what happened and what you learned from the experience.
Remember, the general rule of thumb is to be honest during your interview. It's different for everyone, but if you get asked uncomfortable questions, there's always a polite way of refusing to answer.
Ultraconvenient iPhone Cases For the Girl Who Likes Efficiency
Confession: I hate purses. They're bulky, heavy, annoying to tote around, and easy to forget at the food court in the mall. Lucky for me, I don't actually need one most of the time - I've got an amazing wallet case that carries all my essentials (credit card, cash, bus pass, work pass) while protecting my phone screen and front-facing camera. Around a year and a half ago, I started buying this type of case and refuse to ever go back to anything else! Ahead are 19 cute wallet iPhone cases so you can share in the magic. If these don't suit your taste, check out these lively ones instead.

10 Places You've Seen Sebastian Stan Before Captain America: Civil War
If you're a devotee of the Marvel movie franchise, then you won't have any trouble recognizing Sebastian Stan's pretty face when he shows up again as Bucky Barnes in Captain America: Civil War. Outside of the Captain America movies, Stan's got a résumé that makes him one of those guys you know you've seen before, even if you can't immediately remember where it was (hint: it was probably Gossip Girl). Here's a quick refresher on some of Stan's most recognizable roles.
What the Property Brothers Want You to Know Before Buying That Fixer-Upper
Even if you aren't on the prowl for a fixer-upper, it's hard not to be seduced by the magical makeover skills of HGTV hosts Drew and Jonathan Scott. Famous for transforming real-estate lemons into dream homes on their hit show, Property Brothers, Drew and Jonathan have inspired millions of aspiring homeowners. We caught up with the talented twins to discuss their best tricks of the trade.
Source: HGTV
POPSUGAR: It's pretty incredible that you both gravitated toward the same industry. What made you want to go into real estate and construction?
Drew Scott: We were actors as kids, and I continued in the entertainment industry as a director and Jonathan as an illusionist. We loved being involved in production and in various creative outlets but didn't want to be starving artists. So in the 12th grade, we started discussing ways we could fund our creative endeavors and came to the conclusion that real estate was the way to go. We bought every book, VHS tape (dating ourselves), and infomercial program we could get our hands on to learn everything we could about real estate. We wanted to figure out how two kids with no credit and little savings could get into property investing. Well, with our newfound knowledge, we made the plunge when we graduated high school, buying a $200,000 house with only a $250 down payment. We sold that place after a year for a profit of $50,000. A lightbulb went off and we knew that we could turn our skills into something great!
PS: When it comes to buying a fixer-upper, what should people avoid?
Jonathan Scott: Avoid falling into a money pit! Make sure you plan ahead, work with professionals that know the area you are looking to invest in, and know what you are getting into before committing to any property. Don't bite off more than you can chew! Any house can be made to look beautiful but by working with the right experts you can ensure the property you choose is actually worth it in the end.

PS: What are some common turnoffs that are actually easy fixes?
DS: The funniest and most common remark we hear when we show clients a fixer upper is, "I hate the carpet! This house isn't for me." Outdated carpet, wallpaper, paint, and old appliances - these are all cosmetic things that can be easily fixed in a couple days. You have to be open-minded and see beyond the property's current state. I love it when other buyers run away from a property because that usually means it's the one I want.
PS: Since you both are pros at working with tight renovation budgets, are there cost-friendly materials that you feel are often overlooked?
JS: We are asked all the time, "How can we do the transformations we do on such small budgets?" And it's simply because we look for areas to save money and stretch a dollar. If you can't afford custom kitchen cabinets, then buy prefab and spend a few extra dollars on the countertop, crown, and lighting to make it look more custom. If money is tight when you're replacing the countertops, consider butcher block for the island and stone for the rest. This can look like a design choice yet saves you thousands! Lighting is one other easy, easy way to add value. A well-lit room feels bigger and more inviting, so look at fixtures that will give you a brighter space.

PS: What are some items that are worth splurging on?
DS: First of all, you need to know your neighborhood. We learned this lesson on the first couple of houses we renovated. We spent extra money on stone countertops, custom cabinets, and porcelain tile only to realize that in this specific community buyers were not willing to pay for the upgrades. If you find you're in an area that will permit some higher-end upgrades, then consider new appliances, dual sink vanity, glass-enclosed shower, plank-style porcelain tiles, opening up the wall between your kitchen and living space (have an engineer inspect the wall first). Also, technology is a hot-ticket item these days. How about a fridge that will tell you when your food is about to expire? Or the new energy-efficient washers and dryers that will wash a load in 15 minutes and dry in 15 minutes? Imagine the time you would save!
PS: Buying a home located in a transitional neighborhood can be a smart investment. What are some tips for uncovering these "up-and-coming neighborhoods"?
DS: This is when it's really important to work with a real estate agent that knows the area. Proximity to downtown, transit, shopping, amenities, and schools are really important. You can also go to the city planning department and find out any major developments that are going into the different communities. Also, drive through the neighborhoods that you are considering and look to see if there are a lot of recent sales. Trying to invest in emerging communities can be risky, so if you are new to real estate, then we suggest sticking to areas you are comfortable in.
Photo: Angela Elias
PS: What's a good rule of thumb when deciding how much to spend on renovations when considering your neighborhood?
JS: If you find a home you really like, have a contractor walk through the space with you to give an idea of the cost of certain renovations. Then ask your real estate agent to do a comparable for the community based on those improvements being done. This can give you a better idea if the cost will be worth it. Also, walk through other renovated homes in the area to see what buyers are expecting. This can save you from overrenovating.
PS: What are some tips for maximizing a small space?
DS: Light and bright! Use a lighter color palette and light fixtures that will brighten the space. Stay away from bulky furniture pieces that will make the room feel small. Less really is more! You could also consider some multifunctioning pieces. For example, built-in shelving can be great, but you could also have a desk incorporated into the lower level. Or use furniture, like an ottoman that can also be storage. Murphy beds are popular in very small guest rooms so that it can also be used as an office or play area for kids.
Photo by Melissa Oholendt via Emily Henderson
PS: Where do you look for inspiration?
DS: We draw a lot of influence from our travels. Bringing design elements from Europe, Asia, or other areas of the globe helps our designs stand out. We love to use rustic or traditional pieces in a modern design in order to make the ordinary extraordinary.
PS: What's your most memorable renovation story and what can we all learn from it?
DS: One renovation I will never forget is when we worked with a single dad who had five kids. He struggled to pay the bills and keep a roof over his children's heads - a roof on a house that was way too small for the family. He really wanted to find a way to put some money aside for his kids' college funds but felt he was being unrealistic. He tried selling their current home, which was falling apart, in hopes that it would pay down his debts and move the family into a better situation, but the house never sold. He worked so hard, like a lot of parents out there, so we worked with him to help his plan come to fruition. We fixed all the minor concerns in his house, updated the place to give it some amazing features, and even helped him organize a plan to reduce his debt load. The house sold in one day for more than he was asking for over the past year. This gave him the money he needed for the college funds, paid off his debts and even allowed him enough for a down payment on a bigger home just outside his current neighborhood. We didn't just transform his home, we transformed his life. Seeing the smile on his face made it all worthwhile.
Experts Say These Sound Beats Will Transform Anxiety and Migraine-Coping Methods
Will medication soon be the last resort for people suffering from migranes, insomnia, or anxiety? Our friends at YourTango share a revolutionary sound wave treatment that may help with these issues.
Bonus: It's free.
You're out with friends or family, about to have an amazing day, and, suddenly, you feel it ... that twinge in your temples that means the thing you dread most is about to happen.
You panic inside. It's time to either hit ultra-meds or retreat to a cool, dark and quiet place to ride out the pain. So much for that day of fun, right?
Research now shows there are other, non-medication related, ways to stop a migraine in its tracks - specifically, an emerging form of treatment known as "binaural beats."
In addition to migraine relief, binaural beats have been shown to help with anxiety, insomnia, ADHD, and more.
When listening to binaural beats, "… two different tones are played [one in each ear]. These tones differ in frequency on the left and right side. The human brain perceives the frequency difference as an inaudible periodic beat, often referred to as a binaural beat."
Here's the science behind how it works:
There can be powerful, transformative, and healing effect when your attention shifts left and right over your body's midline, known as "crossing the midline."
Another clinical treatment based on crossing the body's midline is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I've personally experienced EMDR as a patient in my own trauma recovery, sometimes using a light bar to guide my eyes left and right, sometimes using buzzers in my hands that alternate left and right, and sometimes using music that plays in headphones, alternating over and over between left ear and right ear.
EMDR's proven effectiveness comes from crossing the midline with only a music player and headphones, which is exactly what happens with binaural beats.
Further, binaural beats allow you the added bonus of being able to dial in the precise frequency you need for the specific issue at hand, be it a migraine, PTSD, anxiety release, etc.
First, take a minute to visit Brainwave Hub on YouTube, or install an app like Brainwave Tuner Lite on your smartphone. Grab your headphones and find a quiet place; you've going to want to pay attention.
Here's what's about to happen, AND where things get interesting:
"This beat is indirectly perceived as opposed to directly heard since it is below the range of human hearing. For each brainwave sequence the frequency of this perceived beat has been engineered to precisely match a target brainwave frequency.
"After a few minutes of use, the listener's own brainwaves will begin to synchronize with this binaural beat, inducing states ranging from deep sleep to intense concentration and focus. This process is called brainwave entrainment."
Do binaural beats work?
Yes!
The more precise question is: "How well do binaural beats work on YOU?" I encourage you to try a few and see for yourself.
The best apps allow you to listen to your favorite music while the binaural beat plays behind it (you can't hear the actual beat, remember?). That's a good thing because listening to the beat-creating sounds can be less-than-enjoyable for some people.
Most of the binaural beats available on YouTube already have some ambient music in them. You will have a better response if you like the ambient music you hear, so choose based on the music that makes you most comfortable.
My own experience with binaural beats is all positive. It's fascinating to put myself into a power nap and wake up feeling energized and ready for whatever comes next.
In order to stop migraines, you will see the most success if you start listening as soon as possible when you feel the migraine appear.
Here are some of the benefits attributed to binaural beats:
- Headache relief (duh!)
- Pre-exercise energy
- Stress reduction
- Anger relief
- Concentration difficulties and ADHD
- Reduce anxiety
- Power nap
Are binaural beats dangerous?
As with all sound, listening at a very high volume can damage your eardrums. I recommend over-the-ear headphones to minimize potential damage. The very best headphones are the noise-cancelling ones, but they can be expensive.
Whichever headphones you use, please make an effort to be kind to your ears: they're the only ones you get.
I'd like to know what's working for you. If you are already a user or just getting started, leave a comment to let everyone know how it's going.
Please know that binaural beats meet the standard for clinical applications! For more on that, check out InnerOptimal, where you can find video success stories.
Happy listening!

Game of Thrones: Who's Still on Arya's Kill List?
Arya Stark may be in the process of leaving her identity behind to serve The Many-Faced God on Game of Thrones, but shreds of Arya still remain, and in this week's episode, we revisit one of her past obsessions: her kill list. Arya's murder of Ser Meryn Trant last season is the reason she begins this season blinded, the price for taking a life that wasn't hers to take. It signified one big thing - that there was one fewer name on Arya's Kill List, the list of people she started reciting a few seasons ago after losing almost her entire family at the hands of various villains. There were 11 names on the list originally, though Arya only mentions a few this week - one with a special caveat. If you've forgotten who's on it and what they did, we're reminding you of that, and whether they're still alive (fun fact: the list is slightly different in the book than on the TV show). Read and keep rooting for the fiercest Stark girl.
Game of Thrones: What's the Deal With Qyburn?
With Varys out of the picture on Game of Thrones (at least as far as King's Landing is concerned), it seems we have a usurper of the title "Master of Whisperers": Qyburn (Anton Lesser). In the third episode of season six, we see Qyburn helping out some children, asking them questions and offering them sweets (candied plums), as Varys used to do.
These children are revealed to be the spies that Varys used to use to gather information, or what he called his "little birds." When Cersei joins them, Qyburn tells her that they are her little birds now. She fully embraces this concept, and tells him to have these little birds listening everywhere. Qyburn, it seems, is fully in her confidence. But what do we actually know of Qyburn?
- He had been kicked out of the Citadel. After expressing discontent over learning about the living by studying the dead, Qyburn had begun conducting experiments on the living. He is therefore not a maester.
- The Brave Companions take him in. Following his dismissal from the Citadel, Qyburn becomes one of the Brave Companions. This is a group of sellswords, which you may remember is led by Locke (Vargo Hoat in the books), the guy who chops off Jaime's hand on season three.
- He tends to Jaime's hand. When Jaime makes his return to King's Landing with his bloody stump, Qyburn accompanies him and sees to the injury. He's already starting to earn some points with the Lannisters - in spite of his former affiliation with the same group that injures Jaime in the first place.
- When Gregor is doomed, he steps up. While Grand Maester Pycelle said Gregor Clegane is doomed due to likely venom on Oberyn Martell's spear (during the gruesome fight that ends with Gregor squishing Oberyn's head, Qyburn takes the risk of putting himself out there and says he may be able to do something to help. Already beginning to despise Pycelle, and proud of Gregor for proving Tyrion's guilt during one of his multiple trial-by-combats, Cersei leaps at the chance to keep Gregor around and allows Qyburn to give it a go.
- He revives Gregor. It's no longer a secret now, as he introduces the mysterious guard of Cersei's as Gregor to the children.
- His position of power going forward is good for Cersei. So far Qyburn has proven to be quite useful to the Lannisters, and certainly for Cersei. He uses dark and questionable methods, but he gets results.
We all loved watching Varys pull the strings, so watching this much more devious man work the same magic should be quite entertaining. This is especially true as we've reached a point in the show where Cersei seems about to wage war on the Faith Militant and anyone who has anything negative to say about her. Let's see what happens!

He'll show up on HBO again later this year in their Lewis And Clark miniseries, then he's costarring with fellow Game of Thrones actor Michiel Huisman (aka Daario) in Discovery Channel's miniseries Harley & The Davidsons, about the founders of the motorcycle company. 11 Little-Known Facts About Food Network's Chef Marcela Valladolid
If like us, you're a little addicted to the Food Network - isn't there something so relaxing about watching other people expertly whip up delicious dishes? So you're probably more than familiar with chef Marcela Valladolid. The Mexican chef has been a staple on the network since her first show, Mexican Made Easy, premiered in 2010, delighting us with her finger-licking recipes and great personality for the past six years.
But have you ever wondered where Chef Marcela got her culinary degree? Or the food trend she just can't get behind right now? Or why she decided she wanted to be a chef? We found out for you, directly from the source herself. Read on for a few interesting facts about Marcela, including a few exclusives she shared with POPSUGAR Latina.
- She was born in San Diego but was raised in Tijuana, Mexico.
- Her first culinary job was at her aunt's cooking school in Baja, Mexico.
- She attended the Los Angeles Culinary Institute and the Ritz Escoffier Cooking School in Paris.
- Her first TV show was Food Network's Mexican Made Easy, but she's also been a judge on American Baking Competition. Now, she appears on The Kitchen.
- Her favorite dish to cook is lamb chops. She said, "With fresh herbs from the garden and on the grill, it's a fave for grown-ups and kids alike. I like adding a little spice to my herb marinade with some minced chile serrano. My fave in general is cooking foods from a good source (um, my garden, for example). Then, you only need a simple cooking technique and little seasoning. No-fuss cooking."
- Chef Marcela told us chia pudding is the food trend she just can't get behind.
- The first dish she ever learned to cook was egg in a hole. "The recipe is in my first cookbook [Fresh Mexico: 100 Simple Recipes For True Mexican Flavor], and I learned how to make it while living in Tijuana," she told us.
- While she cooks, she likes to listen to music and drink wine.
- She can master a recipe before even making it. "It took a while to get here, but now I'm at a place where I can just read something and know if it will work. I make my necessary changes on paper before I even get to the kitchen. I used to retest recipes two or three times until they came out perfect. Now, I'm much better at troubleshooting even before I turn the oven on."
- She said her goal wasn't to be a chef. "It was to change the perception that people had of Mexico, its culture, and its people through food. I think that's why I overshare so much on social media about my family and community. We're good people with beautiful families. And we bring salsa!"
- She has two adorable sons, Fausto and David. She loves to share photos of them (with hilarious captions) on her Instagram.
A DIY Recipe That Guarantees Silky-Smooth Legs Just in Time For Miniskirt Weather
The following post was originally featured on Alyssa and Carla and written by Alyssa, who is part of POPSUGAR Select Latina.
Short sleeves and skirts are approaching, and I don't know about you, but my skin has seen better days. I made this amazing-smelling green tea coconut oil scrub to slough off dry Winter skin while hydrating at the same time.
There's not a lot of science about the positive effects of green tea on your skin, but it's commonly used topically in Japan to soothe and heal the skin. Sounds good to me! I use two types of green tea in this scrub: brewed green tea and matcha. You don't have to use both, but I think the matcha makes it a really terrific green color.
You can use sugar or salt in this scrub, depending on your skin type. Sugar is gentler and can be used on your face, while salt is more abrasive and should only be used on the body.
This is the perfect use for that jar of coconut oil that you bought that smells or tastes a little bit too much like coconut to use in your cooking. The coconut scent is really light and lovely on your skin.
Green Tea Coconut Oil Scrub
Ingredients

Want to Lose Weight? You Need This Must-Have Item in Your Diet
When you're on a weight-loss journey, eating adequate protein is essential to your success. According to clinical and holistic dietitian Esther Blum, many of her clients start to shed pounds with ease once they increase the amount of protein in their diet, since high-protein foods take more work to "digest, metabolize, and use, which means you burn more calories processing them." A longer digestion time also means that you stay fuller longer, unlike the crash-and-burn effect that comes from eating fatty foods and refined carbs.
Beyond giving your metabolism a boost and keeping you satisfied for longer, one study has shown that in addition to a regular exercise routine, doubling your protein intake (as recommended by the RDA) may be the key to losing fat pounds without dropping muscle mass. This is key since muscle burns more calories in the body than fat. In short, if you're serious about weight loss, you've got to take protein seriously.
Not positive you're getting enough protein in your life? Read up, incorporate these tips to your daily diet, and start seeing results!

Try Solving This Math Puzzle That Is Making People Go Crazy on Facebook
Ever wanted to tear your hair out and question everything you've ever learned about math? Well, thanks to the website Brain Dare, you can. The company recently posted a math puzzle to its Facebook page that's made the internet divide into two categories based on answers.
Take a look at the puzzle below and determine your own answer.
Did you get 40? Or 96? Though Brain Dare states that 96 is the correct answer, other users are claiming that both can be correct. Brain Dare figured out its answer with multiplication. To begin, you multiply the first number by the second number. For example, 1 x 4 = 4. Then, add that result to the first number and you'll arrive at the answer after the equal sign; for the first line it's 5.
But some people arrived at the answer 40 sans multiplication. Instead, they just added the answer of the first line (5) to the next one. So, 5 + 2 = 7. Add the 5 in the previous answer and you'll get to the answer 12. If you follow it all the way through, you'll arrive at 40.
People in the comments are arguing about which answer is actually right. Some just want Brain Dare to acknowledge that math puzzles such as these can have two answers. The puzzle is clearly extremely popular, considering the post has more than 1,900 reactions, 6,000 comments, and 1,000 shares. At the POPSUGAR offices, we're also torn and finding these two answers as well.
If you want to drive yourself crazy with another brain teaser, try this one involving fruit from a few months ago.
What You'll Be Dying to Know About Black Panther After You See Civil War
When you see this week's latest Marvel release, Captain America: Civil War, you'll have the most questions about one certain Avenger, even though this movie is packed full of 'em. Black Panther is a character who brings with him multiple firsts - most importantly, that he is the first black superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to get his own movie, but he is also the first character who's being introduced in another MCU movie before we see him in his stand-alone feature. Last Summer, I got a lot of insight about the character when I visited the set of the movie and interviewed Chadwick Boseman, but there is still a lot to know about the new character. Find out the basics for the groundbreaking Avenger from the comics lore and his movie debut.
Who He Is
Black Panther is the alter ego of T'Challa, the son of T'Chaka, the king of African nation Wakanda. Interestingly, the name "Black Panther" is not associated with the political group, though both the character and party arose in the late '60s. Instead, the name references the Panther Tribe of Wakanda.
Where He's From
No, you didn't just forget about the African nation of Wakanda; it's a fictional country, invented by Black Panther creators Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. You already know about Wakanda's most famous export: it's where you get vibranium, the precious metal that Cap's shield is partially made of.
Who's Playing Him
American actor Chadwick Boseman has been coming up over the last few years, playing the leads in biopics about James Brown (Get on Up) and Jackie Robinson (42). He's poised to break out big, since he's not only starring in one of this year's biggest potential blockbusters, but he's also slated to reprise his role in his own Black Panther movie and at least four other Marvel movies (presumably, that includes the next Avengers sequels, Infinity War - Part I and Part II).
His Superpower
Black Panther doesn't have a superpower, per se, but he's gifted in the way other human Avengers are. Boseman's take on Panther's abilities are that "He's not necessarily the fastest, but he's strong and he's fast. He has a wit, a wisdom, and a plan - an overarching plan." The comics have an explanation for Panther's enhanced abilities, but we'll have to see the stand-alone movie for more insight on that.
When His Own Movie Is Coming
The Black Panther stand-alone movie is slated for release in 2018.
Connections to Other Well-Known Comic Book Characters
We don't yet know which storylines Marvel will follow for Black Panther's story arcs beyond Civil War, but it's interesting to note which other comic book characters he crosses over with in the comic books. In the comics, Black Panther falls for Storm of the X-Men when they're young, and he has associations with the Fantastic Four (he is introduced in a Fantastic Four comic). Interestingly, the X-Men and Fantastic Four have been rumored to show up in Infinity War. Based on Spider-Man's appearance in Civil War, it's clear that anything can happen in the MCU.

What You Should Be Eating If You Want to Lose Weight
As we age and our metabolisms slow, it's easy to pack on a few pounds without realizing it. But a new study has found that making consistent changes to your eating habits can lead to big weight-loss results over time.
Related: The Magical Protein Formula For Weight Loss
The study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, followed the dietary habits of over 120,000 people for 16 years and found that those who ate foods that had a high glycemic load (which includes refined grains, starches, and sugars) gained more weight than those who ate foods with a low glycemic load (foods such as nuts, dairy, and certain fruits and vegetables). This isn't surprising or new; other research has shown that going lower on the glycemic index (GI) scale will help you lose weight. What is interesting in the new study, however, is that other key habits can mean the difference between pounds on the scale. Check out what else the researchers found about weight gain and loss:
- Those who ate more yogurt, seafood, skinless chicken, and nuts lost the most weight; in fact, the more people ate of these foods, the less weight they gained.
- The researchers found, however, no difference in weight gain in those who ate low-fat vs full-fat dairy.
- Diets with more red and processed meat intake were associated with weight gain, especially when meat was paired with refined grains or starches.
- Eating meat paired with low-GI foods, however (like vegetables), helped reduce weight gain.
- Eating foods like eggs and cheese along with high-GI foods was linked to weight gain, while eating these foods with low-GI foods led to weight loss.

In general, the researchers found that the best diets for weight loss were high in protein-rich foods like fish, nuts, and yogurt, which helped prevent weight gain. Avoiding refined grains, starches, and sugars further helped, as did replacing red meat consumption with other protein-rich foods like eggs and cheese. It may seem like common sense, but taking the time to fill your plate with lean proteins and vegetables and other low-GI foods will help you lose or maintain weight throughout the years. This Artist Uses Plants and Flowers to Create Unique Tattoos
Deciding on what to get as your next tattoo? You might want to fly to Ukraine to try the latest trend, where an artist uses real-life plants and flowers to create unique tattoos.
Based in Kiev, tattoo artist Rita "Rit Kit" Zolotukhina uses real plants and flowers to create a design that is completely your own. To do this, Zolotukhina submerges the plant in tattoo stencil ink. After the dipped plant or flower is placed on your skin, Zolotukhina sketches in the rest of the tattoo and wipes it away during the actual tattooing process. The final design usually includes the natural occurring differences in nature like a missing leaf.
The artist behind these tattoos really enjoys making these designs. "It's my favorite way to make tattoos, and I think the most natural," Zolotukhina said to Illusion Magazine. "They're like botanical fingerprints on the bodies of other brave nature loves."
Check out some of Zolotukhina's amazing work ahead, and be sure to follow her on Instagram. If this doesn't suit your needs, you can always try the 3D tattoo trend instead.

Jonah Hill Is Moving up in the Real-Estate World With This Big Splurge
Comedian and Wolf of Wall Street actor Jonah Hill dropped $9.16 million for a spacious condo in Manhattan - quite an upgrade from his Hollywood Hills home and the $3.5 million SoHo loft he listed in 2014. Jonah's new digs sit on the fifth floor of the seven-story Schumacher building in NoHo and feature four beds and four-and-a-half baths, spanning 3,280 square feet. Exposed brick ceilings are vaulted at 12 feet, while black steel details and oversize windows, which allow plenty of natural light to flood throughout the unit, add contemporary character. The living and dining room share 750 square feet and lead into the rest of the condo's bedrooms and master suite, which includes a nine-foot-by-nine-foot walk-in closet. The building's central courtyard can be viewed from any of the four bedrooms.
The Schumacher building, which is equally nice as the unit itself, was formerly a printing factory and now houses 20 luxurious apartments. Residents can enjoy a gym, library lounge, children's playroom, and 24-hour doorman. Fredrik Eklund from Million Dollar Listing New York was one of the agents for this property, and from the looks of it, he did good.
Check out photos of Jonah's new condo ahead.

These 2 Students Fell in Love on Snapchat and Prove Love Knows No Boundaries
The next time you're looking for love, try Snapchat. Two University of Wisconsin-Madison students used the Wisconsin Snapchat story to find each other and see if they were a match made to last more than a few seconds.
Their story begins with the "Memorial Library Girl" spotting a supercute dude in a Vikings jersey. She posted a snap video to the Wisconsin story, stating that she was "seriously in love with [him]. Find me." Fast forward a few hours later, and the Vikings jersey man responded asking her to meet him at a certain location and time. Unfortunately, she missed it - but Snapchat swooped in to save the day. The company created a special filter with a banner at the bottom labeled "Help Vikings Fan Find Mystery Girl." Soon, other students from the school started chiming in and wanting them both to meet and find each other.
Did they though? You'll have to watch the video above to find out. Warning: the different snaps might stress you out and feel like you're watching the story unfold in real time. Guess this proves Snapchat can do more than create hilarious face swap lenses.

Experts Share the Perfect Snack For Maximum Weight Loss
It's not just for preschoolers! Snack time is important for adults, too, because it can satiate hunger between meals to prevent overeating and help you lose weight. Snacks can also be a way to get valuable nutrients you're missing from meals alone. But not all snacks are good ones. We've enlisted the expertise of two nutritionists - Stephanie Clarke, RD, and Willow Jarosh, RD, of C&J Nutrition - to share the perfect equation for how to choose a delicious and filling snack that will help you reach your weight-loss goals. Follow their advice below to start seeing results.
Calories
Aim for two 150-calorie snacks each day. Think of them as ways to fill nutrition holes in your diet, such as getting your fill of fiber or a boost of calcium.
Carbs
Anywhere from 40 to 50 percent of your calories at snack time should come from carbs, which works out to 14 to 20 grams. Choose high-fiber carbs such as fruit, whole grains, and starchy veggies like peas, corn, sweet potato, pumpkin, and Winter squash. Carbohydrates that are naturally high in fiber tend to be less refined and processed and also typically yield a larger portion size for fewer calories, making them more satisfying.
Protein
Go for six to 10 grams of protein, which is 15 to 20 percent of your total snack calories. Protein is essential in order to make what you nosh on feel more satisfying. Protein also helps to even out the rate that carbohydrates enter your bloodstream, so if you eat a snack that's low in protein, a spike in your blood sugar levels could result in stronger cravings and the need to munch on more.
Fats
Far should constitute 30 to 40 percent of your snack's calories, which works out to between six and 10 grams. Including healthy fats also adds to the "I feel satisfied" feeling. The one thing to watch out for is portion size, since fats like nuts, seeds, and avocado tend to be high in calories.
Fiber
Getting enough fiber in your snack - at least three grams - is a must to not only help you feel satiated for longer, but to also help you reach your daily goal of 25 grams. Getting your fill of fiber will ensure you stay regular, which can help you avoid that bloated feeling, making you feel more energetic. It can also help maintain stable blood sugar levels, which keeps cravings at bay.
Sugars
Aim for no more than 10 grams of total sugar and no more than four grams of added sugar (one teaspoon of honey, sugar, or maple syrup).
Timing
Most people like to include their two 150-calorie snacks between their three main meals, so one in the late morning and one in the late afternoon. A good rule of thumb is to eat every couple of hours, so find the schedule that works for you. Maybe you eat a later lunch and an earlier dinner so an afternoon snack isn't necessary but a bedtime snack is. Remember that experiencing a little hunger is OK, but snacking can prevent that famished feeling that makes people overeat. And eating late at night won't cause weight gain, but overdoing it on your daily calorie intake will. If you know you like to eat a little something before bed, make sure you save 150 calories in order to stick to your daily limit.
Eating and Working Out
If you're grabbing a pre-workout snack, aim for a 3:1 ratio of carbs to protein. After a workout, go for a 2:1 ratio of carbs to protein. A banana with some nut butter or a small smoothie is a great option. For workouts that are an hour or shorter, don't stress too much about getting the exact amount. As long as your snack includes a combo of carbs, protein, and healthy fats, and is under 150 calories, you're good! Generally it's good to enjoy a pre-workout snack 30 to 90 minutes before a workout, but eating beforehand isn't a necessity. Some people prefer working out on an empty stomach, so do what's right for you. Then refuel with a post-workout snack within 30 to 60 minutes.
A Few Examples of Snacks
The above info would make an ideal snack, but if you can't meet all the requirements, it's OK to fall short of one of these - fats, carbs, fiber, or protein - just make sure your snack meets the other three.

Snack Mistakes to Avoid
- Not enough variety: While a cheese stick seems like a healthy snack, it's only offering you protein, so you'll soon feel hungry afterward. To feel satiated, make sure your snack has at least two of these - carbohydrate, protein, and fat - or, better yet, aim for all three.
- Skipping: If you head into lunch and dinner completely starving, you know all too well how easy it is to eat way more calories than normal. Snacking between meals controls hunger, which controls cravings and can help you consume fewer daily calories.
- Not counting calories: A snack is just that - a snack. It's not a minimeal, so stick to that 150-calorie amount. Be mindful that prepackaged snacks like granola bars, protein bars, smoothies, or bags of crackers can offer almost 200 calories or more. On the same token, mindlessly reaching into a bag can result in devouring more than one portion without you even realizing it. So measure out your portion and put the bag away!

Looking to drop pounds during other times of the day? Here's what to eat for breakfast and lunch, and dinner to lose weight.
6 Things to Never Ever Post on Social Media
Privacy's a rarity these days, and your beloved social media sites are largely to blame for that. But there are things you are doing on those sites that are making the situation even worse. Before you ever hit "share" again, make sure you're not posting one of these six things.
1. Your home and work addresses
"Duh," you think. But we're not just talking about typing your whole address onto your Facebook profile. "Checking in" and geotagging photos can give away your address even when you don't realize are. For instance, you know how you can create your own geotags for Instagram photos? When you do this, it pulls the location of where you're currently at. So if all your made-up geotags point to the same location, some creep can assume that's where you live or work.
Also be mindful of other people who may tag your address. One time a friend "checked in" to my apartment on Facebook - address and all - without asking for permission. Not OK.
2. Certain photos of kids
If there's one time you should be extra, extra careful, it's when it comes to children and social media. When they're not your own kids, you should always get permission from their parents before you post anything. And even if they are your kids, you still want to steer clear of uploading these compromising images, including where they go to school.
3. Vacation details
Telling people you're away from home for an extended period time is an invite for robbers to break in. This doesn't mean you can't post photos from your trip while you're on vacation. Just limit this to a select, trustworthy group of people as opposed to your entire network. And never post your entire itinerary ("I'm in Madrid Oct. 10 to 17, Berlin Oct. 17 to 25, and Rome Oct. 25 to 31 before flying back home. Know anyone in those cities who might want to hang out with a new friend?").
4. Password clues
Online security questions aren't the strongest, especially when they require information that you could easily give away on social networks. The small town where you grew up, your childhood pet's name, where you were married, your first boyfriend's name - these are all specific details your larger social circle doesn't need to know anyway.
5. Private photos
We're not assuming you would ever post nude photos on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. But you may Direct Message or Snapchat them. That's still a bad idea, seeing as how no one but you can be trusted with those photos these days.
6. Credit card or financial information
Yup, some people post pictures of their credit cards on social media (please say you're not one of them). But less obvious details you might unintentionally give away through Facebook or Twitter conversations: what bank you use and your income range. Even your birth date and place give hackers enough details to access your financial information.
This Couple Threw a Super Mario-Themed Wedding - and It's Adorable
Mad props to Sheana and Mark. The couple walked down the aisle in Dallas while the Super Mario theme song played in the background. And that's not the only way the pair incorporated the highly beloved video game into their nuptials - they went all out.
"Their ring bearer wore a DIY Lakitu costume, cloud included, and their bridal party was dressed as Luigi and Toad," designated photographer Megan Saul said. "[The couple wore] a white to pink dress and red and white tux. Everything about their wedding describes them to their fullest."
See all the cute photos ahead. You might even spot a goomba!
This Is What You Were Really Thinking During the Jon Snow Resurrection
The resurrection of Jon Snow is all Game of Thrones have been talking about for the last couple of weeks - hell, it's all we've been talking about for the last year. This week, Saturday Night Live took on the plot twist - or, rather, the plot twist everyone saw coming but the show took its sweet time revealing. Relive and laugh along with the SNL cast as they make fun of everything from Melisandre to some of the more boring scenes in GOT history.
Chris Evans on the Captain America Issue You Really Care About: His Love Life
Chris Evans is the star of his third Captain America movie, this week's Captain America: Civil War, but he promises you that there are sides of Cap you haven't seen and maybe didn't know he had. Evans also shares with us what we can expect from Cap's meager love life and what he's already thinking about in terms of the next Avengers sequels.
Someone Made the Nimbus 2000 From Harry Potter and It Looks Insanely Difficult
As we've learned from people's various takes on the Weasley family clock, Harry Potter-inspired DIY projects don't tend to be easy. Case in point: Imgur user Goodmen999's construction of the Nimbus 2000 racing broom.
The beautiful broom was first made by scaling its dimensions as it appeared in the movie - the only issue being that different brooms were used throughout filming. After determining the approximate measurements, he sawed the shape down from a piece of mahogany wood, attached styrofoam to one end of the broom, and covered the styrofoam with thin branches. Then, once he created a metal gold stand, he painted the finished product in a clear lacquer. If we're being honest, the whole project sounds hard as f*ck.
Check out the impressive undertaking below. Full disclosure: this is not a DIY for the faint of heart - but it is awesome.
Warging on Game of Thrones Is More Complicated Than You Thought
It would be an understatement to say that things in the Game of Thrones universe have gotten complicated over the past six seasons. Jumping between several storylines was complex enough when the story was simply a political one - and now, with the addition of ancient magic and multiple seemingly powerful gods, it's no surprise that viewers need comprehensive guides to keep track of the plot. One type of ancient magic, warging, comes up time and again in the series (particularly in Bran's and Jon's respective storylines), so let's refresh about what it means and why it's vital to the story.
Before we get into warging, it's important to distinguish that there's a difference between warging and skinchanging. Many people use these terms interchangeably when referring to GOT, but there is a distinct difference.
Skinchangers
A skinchanger is a human with the ability to enter the mind of an animal, controlling its actions and experiencing the world through the beast's senses. One example of a skinchanger from the HBO series is Orell, the Wildling scout who uses his bonded eagle to look out for danger. In the books, another Wildling named Varamyr Sixskins is known for his ability to channel his consciousness into a broad range of animals (hence his last name).
Wargs
A warg is a specific type of skinchanger that connects with wolves (or, in the case of the Starks, direwolves). In short, all wargs are skinchangers, but not all skinchangers are wargs - the title "warg" denotes skinchanging into a wolf breed.
Bran Stark has the ability to warg, exploring the world through the eyes and sense of his wolf, Summer. While the show has explored Bran's warging and greenseeing abilities in detail, it has yet to touch on the fact that all of the Stark children are wargs. Arya and Jon experience "wolf dreams," during which they connect with their respective direwolf, and Martin has claimed that Robb, Sansa, and Rickon also possess warging abilities.
So, why is this important for season six? Well, in addition to further exploration of Bran's magical abilities during his training with the Three-Eyed Raven, it's also possible that the other Starks' warg powers will come into play. In the wake of Jon Snow's resurrection, there has been speculation that he warged into Ghost before his death . . . if this proves true, then his ability to warg will likely play a huge role in his postrevival character arc. Plus, let's not forget that Rickon and Shaggy Dog are still out there somewhere (likely to return this season) and that Arya's banished direwolf, Nymeria, still roams the woods in the Riverlands.
We're sure to learn even more about this complicated ability as the season plays out. Until then, feel free to explain the complexities of the magic next time somebody wonders whether you can "warg into a dragon"!
