Claire Lomas was competing at an equestrian event when she hit a tree and subsequently broke her ribs, punctured her lungs, and suffered a spinal injury that would cause her to be indefinitely paralyzed. She was 27. Nearly 10 years later, Claire continues to push herself athletically, and she just completed the Great North Run half marathon while wearing a ReWalk bionic suit.
The ReWalk exoskeletal suit uses motion sensors to help Claire lift up her legs and walk. It is, however, still a difficult task for Claire who must then channel all of her energy into the parts of her body that aren't paralyzed to get the ReWalk going. With the help of her husband, Dan, Claire walked three miles a day and was able to finish the race in five days. Oh, and she's pregnant.

In Honor of 9/11, This Photographer Shared a Touching Photo of a Breastfeeding Marine
Working moms, we salute you.
And photographer Tara Ruby does it quite literally as part of a portrait series in which she documents women in uniform nursing their children. The inspiration for the collection came after she shot a now-viral image of 10 active-duty military moms breastfeeding their infant babies.
Since that fateful shot, she's expanded her reach outside of the armed forces - but has found her subjects no less awe-inspiring. From a firefighter in head-to-toe tactical gear to a teacher in a blazer to a nurse in hospital scrubs, she hopes to document the mother who has to, day in and day out, put on a uniform, leave her family to go to work, and then come home to breastfeed her baby before bed. In fact, her message - thanks to the powerful inclusion of a Las Vegas showgirl - is that when it comes to that daily grind, every mom is a hero for doing it.
Her latest image, however, returns to her series' roots: in honor of the fifteenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, she released what might be the first documented image of a US Marine breastfeeding her infant in uniform.

Firefighter Tragically Forgot His Toddler in a Hot Car for 8 Hours
Another toddler has tragically passed away after being forgotten in a hot car, but this time the father who left him is serving as a stark reminder to all parents - it can happen to anyone, even a parent whose career is to save lives.
Troy Whitaker, a Florida firefighter, was charged with the death of his 23-month-old son after forgetting the child in his truck for eight hours. According to a spokesperson for the sheriff, Kavontae Smalls, Troy left in the morning with his 5-year-old daughter and little boy but forgot to drop the toddler off at daycare after taking the girl to school.
He first discovered the deadly mistake after running errands and returning home later that afternoon.
"It was evident that he didn't realize that the child was in the backseat until he arrived home from Publix," Sheriff Bob Gualtieri told reporters. "He was taking the groceries out of the front passenger seat and immediately dropped the bags - there are groceries all over the driveway - and then went and took the child out of the car seat."
Although Troy immediately began performing CPR on the child until medical officials arrived, Bob said that the child's body temperature was already extremely high. "It was obvious that he had been dead for a while," Bob said. "As you can imagine, he was extremely upset - visibly upset."
It was estimated that the child was in the Chevrolet truck from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Troy was arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter.
What the Half-Moon Shape on Your Nails Says About Your Health

POPSUGAR: What is the lunula part of the nail?
Jin Soon Choi: The lunula is the light crescent marking on your nail where the nail emerges from the skin. It is part of the nail root, and most people have prominently visible lunula on their thumbnails and diminishing sizes to their pinky nails.
PS: What does it say about someone's health - both the lack of it or the presence of it?
JSC: The presence of eight to 10 milky white lunula indicates good health if the lunula edge is sharp and clear. I believe in the ancient Chinese view of the lunula as the barometer of one's health and the modern medicine ideas with regard to specific conditions. The condition of the lunula really is an indication of your health. When your health declines, it is manifested in changes to the lunula, or the disappearance of it altogether. And when your health is restored, your lunula returns to its original condition.
PS: Any advice on making your nails healthier in terms of diet or care?
JSC: Diet is very important - eat dark green vegetables, fish oils, and nuts. Also be sure to stay hydrated, both orally and topically.
PS: Anything else we should know about lunulas?
JSC: Make sure your manicurist doesn't ruin your lunula when pushing back the cuticles. Pushing very hard on the lunula with a cuticle pusher can cause damage, which will be evident when the nail grows out.
Legendary Makeup Artist Kevyn Aucoin to Be Memorialized in Documentary
If you talk to a makeup artist, beauty editor, or cosmetics brand founder about how they got started in the industry, chances are that at least one of them will cite Kevyn Aucoin as their inspiration. The legendary makeup artist was known for celebrating (and not covering up!) the natural beauty and complexions of his clients. Everyone from Gwyneth Paltrow and Janet Jackson to Naomi Campbell and Winona Ryder worked with Kevyn - and called him a friend.
Though he passed away in 2002 after battling a rare pituitary tumor, his influence lives on in his luxury eponymous cosmetics line, his three New York Times bestselling books, and now, through a documentary. The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reports that actress and former makeup artist Tiffany Bartok is directing Larger Than Life: The Kevyn Aucoin Story.
"I began my career in film as a makeup artist and I met Kevyn while he was filming an episode of Sex and the City," Bartok told The Hollywood Reporter. "I was a fan and his work greatly inspired my own. As a filmmaker, researching his personal and professional life, I became fascinated by its layers and complexities. And how strongly those around him were affected by the loss of him."
The film focuses not only on how Kevyn transformed the beauty industry in the '90s, but on his formative years in Louisiana as a young, openly gay man. Supermodels Christy Turlington Burns, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and more will all be featured in the documentary. The movie is now in postproduction and being shopped around to buyers at the Toronto Film Festival.

8 Things You Need to Do Before Selling Your iPhone
Ready to trade in your old iPhone for the new one? Before you do, take a look at this checklist to make sure you've deleted all important data from your iPhone. Don't leave anything behind!
- Back up your iPhone.
- Remove photos from Camera Roll. Connect the device to your computer and open Image Capture or iPhoto. Select all photos and then click Import All. In iPhoto, choose to "delete photos from your iPhone" after importing. In Image Capture, if the "Delete Items After Downloading" option no longer appears, try this: turn off "Photos" in iCloud on your Mac and iPhone, then restart both devices, and you should see the delete button.
- Turn iMessage off. Open the Settings app > Messages > iMessage > switch to off.
- Turn FaceTime off. Open the Settings app > FaceTime > switch to off.
- Disable your iCloud account. Open the Settings app > iCloud > tap "Sign Out."
- Log out of Apple ID. Open the Settings app >App and iTunes Stores > tap Apple ID and sign out.
- Restore to factory settings. Open the Settings app > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
- Unregister your device at supportprofile.apple.com.
- Call your carrier and ask them to disassociate the device from your account.
An important tip! Whatever you do, don't manually delete contacts, photo streams, calendars, or reminders while logged in to your iCloud account. This will also delete the content from the iCloud servers and your iCloud-connected devices (like your iPad or laptop).
Another important tip! If your phone accidentally runs out of battery during the "restore to factory settings" step, use iTunes to erase data. Connect the device to your computer, then restore the backup. Connect your phone to power, go to Settings app > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings again.
OK, but seriously, this is the last important tip! You can erase your device remotely. If you set up Find My iPhone, sign into icloud.com/#find, then click on All Devices and select the phone you want to erase. In the info window, click "Erase iPhone." You'll need to enter your Apple ID password.

A "rainbow baby" is a baby born after a couple experiences miscarriage or still birth. It's called that because you can't have a rainbow without a storm. And after the storm of pregnancy loss, a beautiful rainbow (child) breaks through the clouds to bring happiness.
It isn't an easy concept to show - though the joy on parents' faces can tell quite a story - but Natalia Karpovovy and Elena Gannenko seem to have captured it. A photo posted to the Every Child Is a Blessing: The Journey Through My Pregnancy Facebook page, shows the photographers' side-by-side photos of seven women. In the first photo, the women are pregnant and dressed representing the colors of the rainbow. In the second, they're all wearing white and holding their rainbow-clad babies in their arms. Without saying a word, the photo speaks volumes for the millions of families who have gone through the experience.
After posting the photo, thousands of commenters to the post began showing off their own rainbow babies. Chasity Boatman, who blogs at Every Child Is a Blessing and runs the page, told us, "I hope that my responses back and forth with women on 'Rainbow Babies' helps them feel supported, loved, and that their struggles with conception and loss are being heard by someone." She adds, "The thing about 'Rainbow Babies' that I've been the happiest about it is the healing and support women have been providing to one another in the comment's section."

The 1 New Apple Product You Should Buy Isn't What You'd Expect
After months of speculation, rumors, and leaks, Apple showed off the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The company also announced two new products: the AirPods and the Apple Watch Series 2. Unlike past events, everyone is wondering this year whether or not it's actually worth getting the new iPhone or any Apple product. Thinking the same? Here's why we think you shouldn't get the new iPhones and which product you should get instead.
The new iPhones aren't that different.
The biggest new feature on the new iPhones is its water resistance and storage options. For years, people have wanted a water-resistant phone that doesn't need to be placed in a bag of rice in case water sprinkles on it. And if it wasn't clear from attack ads, a 16GB iPhone was no longer something actually worth purchasing. But, considering the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will now start at a 32GB model, you don't need to buy a new iPhone to get that extra space. Finally having an iPhone which is water-resistant and has a lot of storage is a start, but it's not necessarily worth the $649 price tag.
But the camera is so cool!
Yes, the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus have better cameras. There are four LEDs on the flash to make it brighter when you take a photo, an aperture of ƒ/1.8 that will allow more light in, and a new A10 Fusion chip using machine learning to make your photos even better. The iPhone 7 Plus's dual-camera lens means a 10X digital zoom and a 2X optical zoom. But, unless you're a serious photographer, we doubt you're going to need the new features available right now.
If you wait, you'll get the better 2017 iPhone.

Who should get an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus?
If you still own an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, you should consider making the switch. The size is the same, but the camera is severely outdated, there's no rose-gold option, and 3D Touch doesn't exist on it. It also first shipped with iOS 8 and now that iOS 10 is about to come out, you deserve a phone that can handle the new system - and actually use all of the new features to its full functionality. Still not convinced? The iPhone "Touch Disease" mess should be enough to make you switch.

Actress Alexis Arquette Has Died at 47
Alexis Arquette has died at 47 years old, her family confirmed on Sunday. According to People, Alexis's brother, Richmond, announced the sad news on his Facebook page, writing, "Our brother Robert, who became our brother Alexis, who became our sister Alexis, who became our brother Alexis, passed this morning September 11, at 12:32 am. He was surrounded by all of his brothers and sisters, one of his nieces and several other loved ones . . . As per his wishes, we cheered at the moment that he transitioned to another dimension." He continued, "He died as he lived, on his own terms. I am immensely grateful that it was fast and painless. It was an incredibly moving experience and I am humbled and grateful to have been able to have been with him as he began his journey onward."
Alexis came from a family of famous actors, which includes her brother, David, and her sisters, Patricia and Rosanna. She was born as Robert and famously documented her transition into a woman in 2007's Alexis Arquette: She's My Brother. She also starred in the Bride of Chucky, Of Mice and Men, and The Wedding Singer. While her cause of death has not yet been revealed, her agent confirmed the news to People.

Ever wanted to tear your hair out and question everything you've ever learned about math? Well, thanks to the website Brain Dare, you can. The company recently posted a math puzzle to its Facebook page that's made the internet divide into two categories based on answers.
Take a look at the puzzle below and determine your own answer.
Did you get 40? Or 96? Though Brain Dare states that 96 is the correct answer, other users are claiming that both can be correct. Brain Dare figured out its answer with multiplication. To begin, you multiply the first number by the second number. For example, 1 x 4 = 4. Then, add that result to the first number and you'll arrive at the answer after the equal sign; for the first line it's 5.
But some people arrived at the answer 40 sans multiplication. Instead, they just added the answer of the first line (5) to the next one. So, 5 + 2 = 7. Add the 5 in the previous answer and you'll get to the answer 12. If you follow it all the way through, you'll arrive at 40.
People in the comments are arguing about which answer is actually right. Some just want Brain Dare to acknowledge that math puzzles such as these can have two answers. The puzzle is clearly extremely popular, considering the post has more than 1,900 reactions, 6,000 comments, and 1,000 shares. At the POPSUGAR offices, we're also torn and finding these two answers as well.

First responders are trained to react to trauma both quickly and calmly, so what one firefighter did for an injured child after he was involved in a car crash falls under the training criteria but is still completely heartwarming.
Last Saturday in D'Iberville, MS, five children were thrown from an SUV after it flipped several times on an Interstate exit ramp. Local first responders, as well as residents and witnesses, immediately went to the aid of the victims, doing anything they could to help.
Local firefighter Casey Lessard came to one of the children's rescue by lying next to him on the ground and playing the movie Happy Feet on his cell phone to distract and calm the child down while he awaited transportation to the hospital.
"The kids . . . we do whatever we can to calm them down," D'Iberville Fire Captain Darren Peterson told the Sun Herald. "The video calmed him down instantly."
The adult who was driving and all five children were sent to local hospitals, one of the kids still strapped into a child safety seat. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
Lessard's selfless and touching act is now going viral, rightfully highlighting the bravery and compassion of first responders.
