A Top Designer Just Predicted 2017's Biggest Trend, and It's More About 1 Detail Than Anything Else
Not all trends that make their way down the runway instantly become hits. The ones that really succeed are the ones that are wearable, versatile, and easy enough for everyone to follow - much like the styles Rebecca Taylor says will be everywhere in 2017. While the designer told POPSUGAR Fashion that sheer and see-through lace will still be big, there's another possibly overlooked detail to pay attention to while shopping.
"As far as dress trends go, I think that it's all about length this season," she said. "Both mini and midi dresses are huge for Spring 2017."
We definitely love a good mini to elongate our legs, and although midis are modest, there's tons of variety, from feminine pieces to boho ones. Scroll on to see few great options we found - including some available on Rebecca Taylor's site - then check out the throwback trends that are back in style.

Why Kate Middleton and Prince William Broke Up Before Getting Married
Image Source: Getty / Samir Hussein
If you and your significant other have a history of breaking up and making up, you're not alone: there have been a handful of celebrity couples who suffered a split before ultimately getting married, and one of them has royal ties. Yes, Kate Middleton and Prince William called off their relationship before their lavish wedding in April 2011. In 2007, four years after they began dating and four years before tying the knot, the royal couple hit a rough patch and decided to part ways. Clarence House declined to comment about the relationship's end at the time, saying, "We don't comment on Prince William's private life."
"We were both very young . . . we were both finding ourselves and being different characters."So why did they split? In late 2006, Kate's family invited William to celebrate New Year's Eve with them. The Middletons booked a house in the snowy Scotland countryside. William had agreed to come, but later changed his mind - which did not sit well with Kate. Spending the holidays in Sandringham with the queen is a strict royal tradition, and Kate was not technically allowed to join in his family festivities unless she and William were married. After the new year, William's military commitments - he was to be stationed with the Household Cavalry at Bovington Barracks in Dorset for three months - kept the couple from seeing each other, and Kate was growing increasingly uncomfortable with the aggressive paparazzi and media attention she was getting as his girlfriend. William was also going out a lot with other guys in the barracks; he was spotted on a number of occasions drinking, dancing, and "being flirty" with women in London, which further angered Kate.
The two secretly reunited at a themed party in June 2010, which was held in William's barracks to celebrate the end of his training. It was during their vacation in Kenya that October that William presented Kate with the same 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire ring worn by his late mother, Princess Diana, and asked her to marry him. "I didn't really plan it that far in advance," William told reporters after the engagement was made public. "I just knew I wanted it to feel comfortable where I did it and I wanted it to mean something, other than just the act of getting engaged."

As we all know, in April 2011, Will and Kate went on to marry in one of the biggest and most newsworthy weddings of our generation. They welcomed their first child, Prince George, in July 2013, followed by Princess Charlotte, who was born in May 2015. In a joint interview after their engagement, William said of their split, "We were both very young . . . we were both finding ourselves and being different characters." He went on: "It was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up so it was just a bit of space, and it worked out for the better." See? There's still hope for your own fairy-tale ending.
8 Books to Read If You're Still Obsessed With Gone Girl
In 2012, Gillian Flynn's third novel, Gone Girl, was published. The psychological thriller tells the story of Nick Dunne, a man who is suspected of murdering his wife, Amy, after she goes missing. As the investigation progresses and their marriage is put under a spotlight, people begin to question just who Amy is and what she may be capable of. The novel received critical acclaim, sold over 2 million copies in its first year, and spawned the 2014 film of the same name, starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike. While the cast has mentioned the possibility of a sequel, Flynn herself has said that it could happen "at some point." While we're waiting, check out the list of books ahead that you're sure to obsess over if you loved Gone Girl. If you've read all these already, we can also recommend some great marriage thrillers!

You Won't Have to Look at Shay Mitchell's Swimsuit Long to Notice This Detail
Once the temperature dips below a certain degree, we get the urge to travel - preferably to a warm, sunny location, where we can rock a swimsuit instead of a puffed-up parka. Shay Mitchell is likely feeling the same, as the star 'grammed a throwback pic of herself in a Positino, Italy, shower, showing off white shades and a stylish green one-piece. The photo made us feel a tad emotional - oh, how we miss those beach-ready days! - but we still "oohed" and "ahhed" over Shay's sexy swimwear, which included fun cutout details on the back and side.
Yet while the weather (especially on the East Coast) isn't exactly appropriate for this type of get-up, the color choice couldn't be more perfect. With the holidays coming up, green pieces are a definite must, and Shay's little snap is a great reminder to start scooping 'em up. Scroll through to see Shay's suit once more, then shop something inspired by it - both for vacation and not - ahead.

The Rockettes' French Twist Will Kick Up Your Holiday Hair Game
The holiday season can get a little crazy with all the shopping, cooking, and decorating, so we can't blame you if you end up saying "bah, humbug!" when it comes to finding your perfect holiday hairstyle. With the help of Pond's, maker of cold cream cleanser for performers and us normals alike, we sat down with the ultimate experts of getting people into the Christmas spirit: the Radio City Rockettes.
Combined, dancers Amy Klingler and Katie Hamrah have been with the company for more than twenty seasons, so they know all about a classy coif. Underneath their multiple hats and headpieces, nearly all of the Rockettes sport a timeless french twist (and can put their strands up in less than 60 seconds). The look is sleek and stunning, but it does require some practice. Even though the Rockettes are seasoned in beautifying themselves before a performance, they can still have bad hair days - or as they like to call them, "twist tantrums." Be patient when trying out this classic style! It's totally worth mastering and looks quite impressive, even if you can't pair yours with a high kick.

5 Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me Before I Started Running
When I first got into running, I experienced everything from painful blisters to chafing to unsupported bosoms - no wonder I hated it. I wish someone had sat me down and told me these basic tips and tricks to help smooth my transition from nonrunner to runner. If you're just starting out on your own journey pounding the pavement or treadmill belt, here are things you should know about running.
It Gets Easier
As with most things, the more you do it, the easier it becomes. To strengthen your muscles, acclimate your heart and lungs, and increase your endurance, run at least three times a week. Start off with a doable distance such as two miles. Once that distance feels good, gradually increase your mileage. The key is to move at a comfortable pace for a reasonable amount of time. If you do too much too soon, you could end up with an injury or a deep hatred for the sport.
You Don't Have to Wear Two Sports Bras
If you're well-endowed, running can be painful. I wore two sports bras for the longest time because I couldn't find one that prevented the uncomfortable bounce. A cheap cotton sports bra from Target just won't do. You might have to spend $50 or more, but it's worth it when you only have to wear one bra you trust.
Don't Skimp on Gear
For my first run, I picked up a $25 pair of sneaks and a pack of cheap cotton socks and wondered why I had screaming blisters. You don't need a ton of gear, but what you do need, you shouldn't skimp on. Spring for a trusty pair of well-fitting sneaks ($60-$120), a good pair of wicking socks ($10-$15), a super supportive sports bra ($30-$70), a seamless tank and long-sleeve to prevent chafing ($20-$40), and a lightweight pair of running shorts or tights to avoid wedgies ($20-$40). Technical gear specifically designed for running makes a huge difference and could make or break your new running career.
There Are Apps to Chart Your Run
I often drove running routes in my car to figure out mileage until my hubby introduced me to the wonderful world of iPhone running apps. The GPS not only keeps track of your distance, but it'll also chart your workout time, pace, calories burned, and elevation and give you a map of your run. Being able to track your workout might motivate you to keep going so you can beat your personal records.
Running Outside Is Harder Than the Treadmill
My power was out one morning - meaning no treadmill time for me - so I decided to run outside instead. It was so much harder! The real hills, the uneven terrain, the wind, the sun, the heat - it all makes running tougher than it already is. But I'll tell you, once I started running outside, I saw a huge improvement in my strength and endurance. I even lost the five extra pounds I could never quite shake, and my muscle definition was noticeable to others ("Damn, look at your calves!"). I know people are in love with their treadmills, but I wish someone suggested I run outside because the difficulty made me a better runner.

This Is How Fifth Harmony Celebrates the Holidays, From Family to Food to Beauty
Fifth Harmony totally proved they were worth it in 2015, and they're bigger than ever in 2016. The 1 Thing I Learned in Italy That Changed the Way I Cook
I thought I knew how to cook Italian food . . . until I went to Italy. I got the amazing opportunity to travel to Tuscany to stay at Casa Buitoni, home of Buitoni, the fresh-pasta brand you've likely seen in the refrigerated section at the grocery store. I was in good company with chefs who develop authentic recipes for the nearly 200-year-old brand (it was founded by the Buitoni family in 1827), so I think they know a thing or two about Italian food. After a week of making pasta from scratch, visiting wineries and restaurants among the rolling hills of Tuscany, and eating too many incredible meals to count made by chefs born and raised in Italy, I learned an invaluable lesson that really stuck with me and will change the way I cook for myself from now on.
Simplicity is key, and less is more.
The mentality that surrounds food in Italy is unlike everything typical about food in the US. Italians eat slowly. They savor every single bite and every single moment at the table - "family style" means more than just passing around a plate of food for everyone to try. A young woman who grew up in Italy told me her family never served a meal without setting the table, complete with a white tablecloth. And yes, of course I realize that setting up a gorgeous tablescape with a movie-worthy view is not something most people have the privilege of re-creating at home, but what we can (and should) copy is the overall idea. Eating is a time to unplug from the rest of the world and to connect with the food and the people right in front of you.
And most importantly, authentic Italian cooks let the ingredients shine. If you start with the best quality ingredients you can find, you only need a few to make an amazing dish. I'll be the first to admit that using restraint in the kitchen is not my strong suit. My favorite pasta recipes often involve a long list of ingredients (spaghetti with garlic, white wine, thyme, lemon, and more, for example), but now I realize that there is such a thing as too much, and you don't always need 20 ingredients to make the most flavorful dish.
The best thing you can do is start out with really, really good olive oil. Spend the money on that fancier bottle - it's 100 percent worth it. Because, as I learned, olive oil is just as much an ingredient as pasta or parmesan cheese. When you simply use olive oil to sauté vegetables or throw in a tablespoon to prevent your pasta from sticking before adding other ingredients, the pure flavor gets lost in translation. The rich flavor of homemade olive oil is unlike anything else, and it's truly at the heart of Italian cooking - let it be the star.
Use good salt and fresh garlic. Invest in the freshest seasonal vegetables when you can. And, most importantly, take the time to savor every single bite. I thought this pizza topped with merely tomato sauce and a thin slice of roasted garlic would be boring, but I could not have been more wrong. After one bite, I realized it embodied everything Italian food is about: freshness, simplicity, and flavor. And that's what I'm going to aim to re-create in my own home.
This Bride’s Gown Might Not Seem Over the Top, but the Story Behind It Will Move You
Once we hear the story behind a bride's wedding dress, we love it even more. When Lydia Forte married Dimitri Chandris at a romantic Tuscan ceremony, the bride didn't look to a big designer for her gown. Instead, she wore a custom creation by someone close to her: her mother, Aliai Forte. Lydia's cream-colored dress featured delicate floral embellishments on the bell sleeves and she revealed to Vogue that the entire look was actually created around her veil. The 16-foot veil was made of antique lace, which belonged to her great-great grandmother.
"For the ceremony, we needed something grand enough to hold its own in the cathedral, but not too fussy or over the top. It had to fit the countryside and Tuscan town setting as well," Lydia said.
The couple said their "I dos" inside a rustic church in the town of Massa Marittima before hosting a reception for 400 guests in the medieval cloisters. Though the wedding was grand, it was the small personal touches that made the day romantic and familial. Scroll to see Lydia's Tuscan fairy-tale nuptials, then zoom in closer on her dress and veil. They're one of a kind, after all.
The 7 Best Factory Tours For Kiddos Obsessed With Cars
Surprise your kids with a fast and furious tour at one of the country's best automobile factories, from our friends at Fatherly.
You already have a house full of of Hot Wheels, R/C cars, and the occasional Power Wheel parked in the garage. What you don't have is a factory floor the size of a small country to show them how Corvettes, Harleys, and big rigs are actually made. If your kid is obsessed with vehicles - and the sight of a Mack truck or sight exposed HEMI will make their month - then a factory tour is their industrial Disneyland. Here are the 7 best tours available across the U.S. that will give them a glimpse at the workers (and robots) who bust ass for combustion.
Chevrolet Corvette, Bowling Green, KY
Corvettes aren't just the ride of choice for Dirk Diggler and Austin Powers, they're the world's longest continuously-produced car. A tour of the famed Bowling Green factory, where they're assembled, is the sports car guy's equivalent of Cooperstown. Watch robots start to piece siding onto the snub-nosed chassis of new 'vettes, and finish with fresh models rolling off the lot and take their first spin. FYI: the tour consists of a mile-walk - so get that travel stroller.

Harley Davidson, York, PA
Sturgis vets the only ones who enjoy Harley-Davidson bikes. The Steel Toe Tour at the company's York, Pennsylvania plant offers 2-hour jaunts full of loud, shiny things every weekday. You'll see fuel tanks, fenders and engines being manufactured and whole bikes assembled. At the end of the tour, you can sit on a Harley before it's shipped to its presumably bandana-and-sunglasses clad owner. Tours are at 9:30 a.m. and noon on weekdays.
(Note: younger kids aren't allowed on the floor, but they can hang out in the Kid's Corner where they have videos and hands-on, smaller-scale interactive Harley exhibits.)

Ford Rouge Factory, Dearborn, MI
The Ford Rouge factory assembles trucks at the blistering pace of 1 per minute. The walking tour will give everyone a bird's eye view of the assembly line's human and robotic workers putting it together. After you've watched a dozen or so trucks get made, you can grab a seat in a theater for a 13-minute documentary about the factory's past with historic footage of Henry Ford. Another theater offers a loud, robotic presentation about ingenuity in Ford trucks (spoiler: They're built Ford Tough).

Rosenbauer America, Wyoming, MN
Kids. Love. Firetrucks. And Rosenbauer America's Minnesota factory churns out 150 of the bright red safety vehicles a year. They manufacture both the cab and engine portion, as well as the box that sits on top. They also makes ARFFs - those airport rescue and fire-fighting rigs you see out the window while sitting on the runway. The process of making them mostly involves lots of banging and tons of steel and aluminum being cut. If they're cool with sirens, they'll probably be ok here, too.

Mack Trucks, Macungie, PA
Most kids love tractor-trailers, until they drive cross-country for the first time. Mack Trucks is the big daddy of big-rigs and offers a great factory tour. Good news: You'll see the trucks mid-build, with their hoods open to reveal the snaking machinery that makes them go. Bad news: Unless your kid owns a trucking company, you can only take them one day a year - the Saturday during Father's Day weekend. So, guess what your present is going to be this year?

Hyundai Motor Company, Montgomery, AL
Hyundai's roughly 90 minute factory tour mercifully takes place largely in a tram. Younger kids (ages 6 and up only) can watch Hyundai's process for producing 1,500 cars a day from a seated position. Is it too meta to watch cars being built from the comfort of a car? Tours are free and offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:30 a.m., noon and 2:30 p.m. During the winter (or what they call winter in the South); they're also offered Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

Joe Gibbs Racing, Huntersville, NC
Cars gave your kid a good look at what racecars with eyes look like. Now they'll want to see how a NASCAR not voiced by Owen Wilson works. Head to Joe Gibbs Racing (re-opening in January), where they'll be able to look through a large window into the shop where cars are built, check out the trophies that have been taken home, and get their hands on a floor model. The Charlotte Motor Speedway is also short drive away, so you can see these creatures in their natural habitat.
