This Amazing Device Will Help Women Keep Their Hair During Chemotherapy
An unfortunate side effect of chemotherapy treatment is hair loss. Though it is designed to destroy cancer, chemotherapy can also result in the damage of regularly functioning cells, including hair follicles. Losing the strands you've grown and loved your entire life can take a major emotional toll.
However, there is a hopeful new development. The Food and Drug Administration has given market clearance to Sweden's DigniCap Scalp Cooling System, a device designed to reduce the activity of hair follicles during chemotherapy in breast cancer patients.
The neoprene cap is placed on patients' heads before, during, and after treatment. This connects to a computer-controlled cooling unit with near-freezing temperatures, which reduce blood flow in the scalp. The cap also slows down division of new cells to prevent further damage from continued treatment. By regulating the behavior and activity of the follicles, the DigniCap can cut back on the amount of damage done to healthy hair cells during chemotherapy, in turn decreasing hair loss.
The innovative system is the first of its kind to be FDA approved. Researchers believe that the cooling cap can have a great emotional impact in women undergoing treatment. "We are pleased to see a product for breast cancer patients that can minimize chemotherapy-induced hair loss and contribute to the quality of life of these individuals," said William Maisel, MD, in an FDA news release.
In a trial performed on 122 women with stage one or stage two cancer, over 66 percent of participants reported losing less than 50 percent of their hair over the course of one month. Participant Deborah Cohen noted that being able to keep her mane during treatment had a huge impact on the way she was treated by loved ones and strangers. "I think it helped my children cope with my diagnosis, first and foremost, because they were able to look at me and not see me as someone who was sick," she told Glamour.
In the coming months, the DigniCap will be made available in chemotherapy treatment centers around the country. The distribution of this device marks an incredible step in the development of cancer treatment. With this important reinforcement of their confidence, patients can feel even stronger and more brave during their recovery. More women can now go into recovery without the fear of losing their hair, leaving them able to focus on the progression of their health.

Your Boob Size and 11 Other Ways to Tell If You're Having a Boy or a Girl
Sure, you can wait until your 20-week ultrasound for the sonogram technician to give you a near-definitive answer, or, if you are extremely patient, you can just sit tight until that baby enters the world and reveals himself or herself once and for all. But if you're one of those moms-to-be who can't handle the suspense, you're in luck.
Well, not really.
There are plenty of ways to scientifically determine the sex of your baby - like genetic blood tests and amniocentesis - but if you'd rather opt for a less-invasive (and far less reliable) method, here are a handful of ways people have been using to predict whether it's a boy or girl for decades, sometimes centuries.
- Fetal Heart Rate
The next time your doctor listens to your baby's heartbeat, ask for specifics. Allegedly, if the fetal heart rate is more than 140 beats per minute, it's a girl; less than 140 beats per minute, a boy. - Morning Sickness
Somewhere along the way, people began to assume that if you suffered through bouts of nausea in your first trimester, you were more likely to have a girl than if you had an easy, vomit-free pregnancy. - Your Grocery List
If you're craving ice cream, you're having a girl. Pickles? A boy. Because girls are stereotypically "sugar and spice and everything nice," legend has it that eating sweets means you're having one, but opting for savory, salty dishes is a sign you've got a boy baking. - Your Bump
You can apparently tell a lot by the way you carry your baby bump. If you're carrying high and on the sides, it's allegedly bound to be a girl. If you're carrying low or if it looks to be a perfectly round, ball-like bump, it's most certainly a boy. - The Key Test
Although it's hard to accurately test this on yourself once you know the outcomes, the idea is that you set a key in front of you, and if you pick it up by its top - the wide, rounded part - you're going to have a girl. If you naturally pick it up by the narrow end, it's a boy. - The Pee Test
Your days of inspecting your urine aren't over yet! Some say the color of your pee can be an indicator of your baby's sex, with bright yellow urine for a boy and dull yellow urine for a girl. - Acne Alert
It's by far the cruelest trick, especially if someone calls you out on it, but if you're breaking out in zits or aren't really exhibiting that gorgeous pregnancy glow, you might be able to blame it on an eventual daughter. According to legend, girls steal their mother's beauty. - Ring on a String
If you're married, pop off your wedding ring and tie it to a string. Hang it over your belly, and see what happens. If it swings in a circle, you're having a boy, but if it sways back and forth, it's a girl. - Conception Equation
Loosely based off an ancient Chinese gender cart, which was created more than 700 years ago before being buried in a tomb, it's as simple as basic math. If your age at the time of conception plus the number of the month in which you conceived is even, it's a boy. If it's odd, it's a girl. - How You Wake Up
Sleep is a tricky subject for any pregnant woman, but one myth attests that if you always seem to wake up on your left side, it's a girl, and if you find yourself sleeping on your right side more often, it's a boy. - Palm Reading
No, you don't have to go find a fortune teller - all you need to do is look down at your hands. Are they dry and cracked? Some say that means a boy is on the way. If your palms are soft and supple, you might be having a girl. - Your Cup Size
No two breasts are created equal, certainly not with all the hormonal changes that come with pregnancy. To that end, a generations-old method for determining the sex of the baby is by boob size! If your left breast feels larger, it's a boy. If the right is heftier, you've got a girl.

- "Is it just a trend to talk about inclusion (and I'd rather say inclusion than diversity)? Or is it going to be a norm? That we understand that we're all a part of the narrative, that all of our stories deserve to be told?"

The Don't-Expect-to-Walk-Tomorrow Leg Workout
Strong legs are in! Not just because they look hot in shorts and leggings, but because they help you feel more badass on a long run, while pushing up a hill in your SoulCycle class, or when doing thrusters during your CrossFit WOD. This squat and lunge workout has a jumping element, known as plyometrics, which not only makes the exercises harder but also adds a little cardio in there too.
Who Will Win the 2017 Oscars? Our Predictions
The Oscar nominations are out and all the other major award shows have taken place this season, so we can't help but leap to the next conclusion: who's going to win?! While we have a while to speculate and watch as the nominees campaign, we have pretty good ideas already about who will win the major categories. Taking into account the wins so far this award season, what the Academy tends to reward, and good ol' gut feelings, here are our predictions for the 2017 Oscar winners.

If You Prefer Emily Ratajkowski's Bikinis, You Obviously Haven't Seen Her Baywatch Suit
Don't get us wrong, Emily Ratajkowski looks good in a two-piece. In fact, the supermodel's come up with so many ideas for mixing and matching her bikinis, we can barely keep up. But while vacationing with her friends Bella Hadid, Elsa Hosk, Hannah Ferguson, Lais Ribeiro, Hailey Baldwin, and Rose Bertram in the Bahamas, Emily pulled a style switch-up.
Her red Solid & Striped design was fitted and sleek, with not a cutout in sight, and the plunging neckline was a touch sexy - very simple, very effortless, very Baywatch. Emily completed her look with a dainty chain necklace, allowing us full focus on her one-piece. While clearly, most of her pals prefer classic tops and bottoms, Emily is making a case for coverage at the beach. Read on for a look, then shop similar silhouettes for yourself.
Pump and Dump No More! If You Breastfeed, You Can Still Drink Without Wasting Milk
Beast milk is held so highly in regard that it's been called "liquid gold." So if you are a mom with breasts that overfloweth, should you be wasting said gold by pumping and dumping for the sake of a beer at a holiday party? Well, as it turns out, pitching breast milk may no longer be the only way out if you're dying to indulge in a cocktail.
Although there are plenty of myths surrounding the topic of drinking and breastfeeding - apparently Guinness is great for your milk supply?! - several studies have shown that very little alcohol will appear in your milk even if you've had a few cold ones (and even less will be ingested by your baby). Also, because the amount of alcohol in your milk closely emulates your blood alcohol level - and you don't have to throw out your blood after drinking - you don't actually have to get rid of that milk. You simply need to wait until the alcohol has been processed through your system and you've sobered up.
But what if a breastfeeding mom chooses to have more than one glass of wine at a New Year's Eve party? It has not only been found that a lactating mother's blood alcohol concentration, or BAC, seems to rise much slower than that of other women, but also, even though a baby takes twice as long to process alcohol in his system, little of the alcohol consumed by his mother will actually be present in the milk in the first place (as demonstrated in the example below).
If a 150-pound nursing mom downs four alcoholic drinks - say, four 5-ounce glasses of table wine - and then breastfeeds her 13-pound baby 4 ounces of milk when she's at her tipsiest, her baby will end up with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.0038 percent - the same blood alcohol concentration her mom would have after consuming a mere 1.5 ounces of Bud Light (one-eighth of a 12-ounce bottle).
So while it has been noted that alcohol could decrease the amount of milk you make - meaning having to feed your little one a bit more frequently until your supply is back up - it turns out that "even in a theoretical case of binge-drinking, the children would not be subjected to clinically relevant amounts of alcohol." That being the case, we may finally be able to get rid of the term "pump and dump" once and for all.

Blake Lively May Have Mermaid Hair, but She Says She's More of a Unicorn
If you were a female with a cable subscription in 2007, you likely watched Blake Lively play the now-iconic role of Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl. During her time on the show, she truly made it looks like blondes have more fun. Blake rocked her long golden hair in beach waves, textured ponytails, and a bevy of other enviable styles. And so the internet's fixation on Blake truly began. (OK fine, if you watched Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants like we did, it started even earlier!)
Now, as the mother of two baby girls (James, 2 years old, and Ines, 4 months old), Blake's real life is quite different from Serena's schoolgirl days. First, Blake is taking on more sophisticated roles, including Adaline in The Age of Adaline and Nancy in The Shallows, which just scored her a People's Choice Award for favorite dramatic movie actress.
Second, she's made it clear how important family and being a homemaker is to her - often revealing the goods she baked on Instagram or showing gratitude for her husband, Ryan Reynolds. Lately, she's been bringing her sister Robin Lively - who you may remember as the actress from Teen Witch - to events.
So was the case on Feb. 13, when Blake and Robyn hosted a L'Oréal event for editors and influencers to celebrity Galentine's Day. (Blake is a spokesperson for the mega beauty brand.) According to reps from the L'Oréal, Blake was at the venue until 11 p.m. the night before, setting up cute DIY stations for engraved heart-shaped necklaces, watercolor cookies, and Paper Fashion glittery cards. As event goers, we can confirm it was actually really fun with personal touches, like Blake's lipstick kiss marks scattered on mirrors throughout the space.
We caught up with Blake before the event to find out what she uses on her gorgeous hair, how motherhood has changed her beauty routine, and which mythical creature is her spirit animal.
POPSUGAR: Tell us about this heart-shaped updo in your hair!
Blake Lively: Rod Ortega did it, I cannot give you any tips on how, because I have no idea. It happened on the back of my head. He is a genius. I told him it was a Valentine's Day event, I described my dress to him, and then he just make it happen within like 20 minutes. He's so talented, it's upsetting.
PS: You have the best hair texture. Can you tell us of the products you use to get it?
BL: It's important for me to take care of my hair every day. I used to color it, flat iron it, use curling irons on it in high school - whatever you do in high school that's bad for your hair. I learned one day that it actually matters which shampoo and conditioner you use, because it helps to keep your hair strong.
So I went from having the healthy hair that you have as a kid, to completely destroying it and frying it, and then actually having really healthy thick hair that I was proud of again. I just put an emphasis on what shampoo and conditioner I use.
PS: Do you have a secret hair weapon?
BL: I rarely use a conditioner. I always use a mask, so I always rinse it out and leave like 5 percent of the mask in. I feel like my hair drinks it up. If I know I need to style it a very curly [way], then I do a little less, or I'll use a conditioner instead.
There's this L'Oréal mask I'm obsessed with called Color Vibrancy. I just notice such a difference. You pay all this money to color your hair or to upkeep your hair or use curling irons or whatever, and then you just like use soap on it? It doesn't make any sense.
PS: How often do you wash your hair?
BL: Every other day.
PS: As you're approaching your 30s, are you changing your skin-care routine at all?
BL: I wear moisturizer now. I never did that before. But, yeah, I think that's probably it.
PS: Do you have a favorite moisturizer?
BL: I do, but it changes, because in the Winter, you have to wear a thicker one. And then in the Summer, you always want one with sunscreen - especially if you've been pregnant. It's a whole new like skin issue. Also if you're flying, you want a thicker one.
PS: How has your beauty routine changed since having kids?
BL: There's less time for it, because you have other people to care about. Also, my daughter is just as obsessed with playing in my makeup as everyone's daughter is. She paints our walls and herself and clothes and me. So I have to do makeup in 30 seconds or my whole house is covered in my makeup, because she'll just take it and run.
PS: So the internet is obsessed with unicorns and mermaids right now. Do you feel like you're more of a mermaid or a unicorn?
BL: The internet's obsessed with unicorns and mermaids?
PS: Yes.
BL: Oh. I didn't know that. We're not cool [refers to herself and Robyn Lively]. Yeah, I would wanna be a mermaid, but I think I'm a little bit more of a unicorn, because I'm like a little bit more horsey, and Ryan calls me unicorn. But the reason they [her and Robyn's husbands], call us that is because unicorns are suppose to be this like anomaly that's a really special, magical creature. So for your husband to call you that, that feels really good. I'd rather my husband call me that than a mermaid. But I can see the stupid headline, "Ryan Calls Blake a Unicorn." That's so stupid, please don't write that ever.
4 Celebrities Who Were Bold Enough to Approach Queen Blue Ivy at the Grammys
The Grammys were all about the adults on Sunday night, but one child still managed to steal some of the spotlight. Beyoncé and Jay Z's 5-year-old daughter Blue Ivy attended the big night, and in addition to being adorably proud of her mom's performance and jumping into a Carpool Karaoke session, she was also one of the most sought-after stars in attendance. While she relaxed in her seat with her dad, a few musicians decided to try and say hello. Nick Jonas, Rihanna, Busta Rhymes, and the night's host, James Corden, all worked up the guts to attempt to mingle with Blue. Nick even shared a photo on his Instagram account and poked fun at the moment. While she was gracious enough to engage in small talk, her facial expression of "how cute of you to stop by" kills us.

Hacksaw Ridge: The Incredible True Story Behind the Oscar Nominee
With six Academy Award nominations (including one for director Mel Gibson and another for lead actor, Andrew Garfield), Hacksaw Ridge has emerged as one of the most lauded films of 2016. Both critics and audiences have praised the gritty war drama, which has racked up numerous international honors and over $150 million at the box office since its November release.
Those who haven't seen the World War II drama may not know that the onscreen story of Garfield's character is based closely on real-life soldier, Private First Class Desmond Doss. Even those who have lined up to see the film may not know just how much of the cinematic story was rooted in true events. As producer Bill Mechanic told People, he and Gibson "were very accurate with Desmond and what happened to him." That's not to say that the filmmakers were obsessive about every detail of Doss's life. "If you're a slave to the complete facts, then you're not making a movie that is compelling."
Here are the true elements that inspired Hacksaw Ridge, and the pieces that were fictionalized for movie magic.
Doss Was a Pacifist
According to Terry Benedict, who made a Doss documentary called The Conscientious Objector, the real-life subject of Gibson's film "just didn't fit into the Army's model of what a good soldier would be." Part of that perception had to do with Doss's outward appearance and demeanor; he's been described as a skinny kid from Virginia who spoke in a quiet Southern drawl. But the bigger issue was Doss's pacifist beliefs. As a Seventh-day Adventist, he refused to touch a weapon or work on the Sabbath. His fellow soldiers interpreted the lack of participation as laziness and considered him "their weakest link in the chain," according to Benedict. They harassed him verbally, and eventually physically, questioning why he had joined the Army at all.
He Had a History of Violence in His Family
In the film, a young Doss is fascinated by a framed poster of the Ten Commandments hanging in his home, and in particular, an illustration of the Sixth Commandment, which depicts Cain murdering his brother Abel. This detail is true to Doss's real childhood in Lynchburg, VA, where he grew up as the middle child of William, a carpenter and World War I veteran, and Bertha, a homemaker. Doss's father, who Hugo Weaving played in the film, suffered from alcoholism and depression related to PTSD while his mother (Rachel Griffiths) sought solace in religion and regularly attended church with her children. In the film, Doss is seen breaking up a fight between his parents and wrestling a gun away from his father. While the scene is based on actual events that inspired Doss's vow to never touch a gun again, the real fight involved his father and uncle.
His Real Love Story Was Different
On screen, Garfield's Doss falls in love with a nurse named Dorothy (Teresa Palmer) after taking an injured man to the hospital. In reality, Doss did indeed find love with Dorothy Schutte, but the two met at a Lynchburg church, not a hospital. The real-life couple wed in 1942 and had one son: Desmond, Jr. The couple remained married until her death in 1991 and Doss later married again to a woman named Frances Duman. They remained married until his death in 2006.
Doss Did Save Dozens of Lives
Thanks to a 1940 law, the Army couldn't turn away conscientious objectors like Doss; they were obligated to allow him to serve in a noncombatant position. Doss drew on his prior experience in the Philippines (which isn't depicted in the film) and deployed with the 307th Infantry, 77th Infantry Division in the summer of 1944 to serve as a medic. While it's undeniable that the real-life Doss ran through enemy gunfire in order to rescue fellow soldiers, the number of lives he saved is up for debate. Doss himself estimated the total count to be around 50, but the military insists the tally was double that amount. The filmmakers settled on a compromise, setting the number at 75.
He Made History
While some of the personal and chronological details may have been re-interpreted for the movie, one historic achievement that's preserved in the film is Doss's ultimate history-making recognition. President Harry S. Truman presented Doss with the Medal of Honor on Oct. 12, 1945, making him the first conscientious objector to ever receive the award.
The Weeknd and Selena Gomez Show Major PDA After Justin Bieber Mocks Their Relationship
The Weeknd and Selena Gomez kicked off their Valentine's Day celebration early when they enjoyed a romantic evening on a yacht in Marina del Rey, CA, on Saturday. The couple showed major PDA as they shared a few kisses and cuddled up under a blanket before sailing away. Their sweet date comes just a few days after Selena's ex Justin Bieber mocked The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) on social media. During an Instagram Live video, the singer jokingly said that his favorite song at the moment was The Weeknd's "Starboy," before erupting into laughter. Despite his recent remarks, it looks like Selena is having a great time with her new beau. In the past month, they've already taken their whirlwind romance global by enjoying a romantic vacation in Italy and a few low-key appearances around LA.

Don't Just Look at Katy Perry's Grammys Suit, Zoom In on Her Arm Band
She might have walked the red carpet in a feathered Tom Ford gown, but Katy Perry was only gearing up to make a statement at the Grammys. The singer performed her new hit "Chained to the Rhythm" in a white Tom Ford pantsuit, sneakers from her own collection, Lorraine Schwartz jewels, and Oliver Peoples sunglasses. She matched the picket fence and tiny square house that made up the set, which speak to the song's message that we all live in a comfortable routine or a "bubble."
Some of Katy's fans, however, suggest the pop star was paying homage to Hillary Clinton's DNC suit on stage, slipping into the same uniform the women suffragists wore. (Katy did stand by Hillary's side throughout her entire campaign.) Still, Katy offered up her own twist on the now-iconic look with an arm band that read "Persist," a call out to the #ShePersists hashtag that went viral when Elizabeth Warren was silenced on the senate floor. It seems like, with just one short concert, Katy used her clothes and her lyrics to incite hope and optimism - and that's a power move if you ask us.
Fifth Grader Shuts Down a Boy Who Won't Leave Her Alone With a Brilliant List of Rules
My friend who's a 5th grade teacher just sent this to me! I'm dead!!! http://pic.twitter.com/FSDBxs9Vtq
- Denny Dimples (@WhosDenverJones) September 15, 2016
Meet Zoë, a fifth-grade girl who had no problem shutting down a classmate who so clearly couldn't keep his hands to himself with an epic list of rules and regulations. The note was shared on Twitter by user Denny Dimples after she received the photo from her friend, a fifth-grade teacher. We can't help but praise Zoë for her ability to stick up for herself and lay down the law at such a young age.
We're not sure what set Zoë off in the first place, but by the looks of Noah's gloves in her stick figure drawing, this kid needs to keep his hands to himself! Her confidence and self-respect deserve a round of applause.
Read the full list of "Rules & Regulations" below, and remember this whenever you're feeling like Zoë!
- Do not touch my shoulder.
- Do not get behind me with all that playing & foolishness. (Don't get behind me at all.)
- Do not speak to me unless it's a greeting, which will be never.
- Stop playing with me on the bus.
- I have a short temper with people and you ruin my day because you play 2 much.

Here's How Much You Need to Exercise If You Sit at a Desk All Day, According to Science
The perils of sitting all day aren't good. Researchers have shown that remaining stationary for extended periods of time (like at your 9-to-5 desk job) can be detrimental to your health. While exercise is a big part of offsetting the harmful effects of sitting, it was unclear how many gym sessions were needed to help - until now.
A new study, published in The Lancet, shows the ideal formula for counteracting the negative effects of a sedentary job. Instead of a fixed number of hours spent exercising, the ratio depends on how much you sit: people who work a typical eight-hour day should spend at least one hour each day moving; if you sit six hours a day, you should spend half an hour exercising. The research also indicated that the exercise doesn't have to be all at once - or rigorous. It can be spread throughout the day and be as simple as walking.
The team behind the study analyzed data from a pool of a million adults over the age of 45 in Western Europe, the United States, and Australia. Using previous data, the researchers examined data from 16 published studies and used it to determine how much exercise is required to compensate for sitting. Their recommended daily exercise goal is higher than previous advice but not necessarily less attainable, given it can be completed throughout the day.
Fitting in an hour of exercise a day sounds especially daunting if you have a desk job, but there are plenty of workouts you can complete before and after work. Even if it means taking a 10-minute walk during lunch, your body will thank you in the long run.

The Runway Show Celebrities Are Obsessed With
Olivia Palermo was one of the first to start clapping during the finale at Delpozo, and we were right there with her. The clothes designer Josep Font introduced to the Fall 2017 runway were as mesmerizing as seasons past - they're truly the type you want to stare at all day. Olivia wore one of the brand's minis to the Golden Globes, and we wouldn't be surprised if she's already got her eye on a new look. She's not the only fan of Delpozo. Kiernan Shipka, Rose Byrne, and Cate Blanchett (all some of the boldest dressers in Hollywood) are devotees too.
While Font's new lineup has many appealing gowns, one of which we could imagine on a bride, it's really the details you need to see up close. Paillette sequins sprouted up on sweaters and hoods were decorated with feather-like confetti on one side. Giant circle bags made for that flashy metallic weekender you've always wanted. These are the trimmings that make Delpozo dream-like, but the structured silhouettes - sleeves curved like wings around the models' shoulders and cupcake-like skirts that have flounce - are what keep us infatuated with the label time after time.
The Right Engagement Ring For Your Zodiac Sign
Yes, your engagement ring should be gorgeous. When you flash it in front of your friends, you'll want to make them shriek. Placing the perfect diamond on your finger (and then showing it off!) is one of the most memorable parts of getting married, after all. But your engagement ring should also be completely your own. If that means nixing an ordinary design for something more personal, like a turquoise gem, a ruby, or even a pearl, so be it.
But how can you tell which distinctive ring is really right for you? Astrology, of course! Your zodiac sign doesn't only reveal your signature traits, but also your major style tendencies and your taste in design. Whether you're a romantic Taurus who goes googly eyed over pink stones or a classic Capricorn who appreciates the sophistication of a traditional diamond, there's an engagement ring for you. Read on to see what's written in the stars.
6 Ab Moves That Will Keep You Feeling Fit All Winter Long
Though it's easy to succumb to a day snuggling with snacks and a Netflix binge, there are a few easy moves you can incorporate into your Winter routine that will keep bloating at bay as you enjoy downtime with your family.
To help you get started, Puerto Rican personal trainer Idalis Velazquez, who is working with Unilever as a part of its empowering #100PorCientoTu campaign, put together a series of six ab-burning HIIT exercises you'll easily be able to squeeze into your daily routine.
Ready to give it a try? Turn on your favorite playlist (Adriana Lima's, perhaps?) and perform each of the following exercises for 30 seconds with a 15-second break in between. When you're done, rest for 30 seconds, and do the entire circuit once more.
Who Gives a Flock? These Flamingo Kitchen Goods Are Too Sweet to Resist
Flamingos signal vacation and warm, tropical weather. With their stunning naturally pink feathers and tall height, flamingos also embody pride in standing out and being unique. This Dreamy Makeup Brush Looks Just Like the "Enchanted Rose" From Beauty and the Beast
The live-action Beauty and the Beast movie comes out on March 17, and Disney aficionados are whipping themselves up into a frenzy by shopping all kinds of products inspired by the film. This includes Gap's new kids' collection, an adorable tea set, and now, Storybook Cosmetics is giving us the gift of makeup brushes that look just like the enchanted rose. (Are you squealing as much as we are?)
The brand announced its "What's in a Name" collection late last Winter. It was inspired by Shakespeare's classic play, Romeo & Juliet, but we still think they would make a perfect addition to any Belle cosplay. Storybook Cosmetics shared that the launch would be ready by early Spring, and after weeks of suspense, their team has given us another sneak peek on Instagram.
"One more round of changes and our 'What's in a Name' original rose brushes will be complete!" the caption announced. Though the tools seem positively perfect (the handles look like real stems!) Storybook Cosmetics explained that the team plans to lengthen and darken the bristles. This way, they'll look even more like the velvety petals of a red rose, and those faux "leaves" on the brush's ferrule won't accidentally scratch the face.
And yes, though this brush looks like it was snatched from beneath a bell jar that was hidden in the west wing, it's actually part of a bouquet of brushes. We can't wait to see the final set. (A note to anyone looking for a gift for their significant other or best friend: flowers make a lovely present all year round, hint hint!) Keep reading for more shots of the collection.

How to Get Custom Lash Extensions That Will Look Amazing on You
If you've been wondering how all of the women in your Instagram feed seem to have grown ultralong lashes overnight, chances are they've just gotten lash extensions. The treatment has become incredibly popular with millennial women, but if you're looking into trying them out, do your research! Eyelash styling should never be one size fits all.
According to celebrity lash expert Clementina Richardson, founder of Envious Lashes (and lash stylist to Mary J. Blige), the shape of your eyes, the strength of your lashes, and your skin tone all have to be taken into consideration before determining what extension style is best for you.
"Since everyone has a different face shape and bone structure, it's important for women to understand that lash extensions need to be personalized," Richardson explains. Your natural lashes will also dictate how dramatic your finished look will be. "People who already have damaged lashes or those that have naturally weak, short natural lashes [can't always get as dramatic of a look] as a client with superstrong, thick lashes," she says.
That said, you can still achieve a gorgeous, fluttery fringe as long as you keep your expectations reasonable and your standards high. This may mean that you pay a little bit more for better quality: lashes can cost anywhere between $100 to $500 and have to be filled in every two to three weeks.
If you're dealing with a bit of sticker shock, Richardson says to be sure to remember that you get what you pay for. "Do not go for the cheapest price, and make sure the studio you choose is licensed and certified to apply lash extensions," she cautions. "You will 100 percent notice a difference, as it's the quality, skill, and artistry that matters most with this type of a service." After all, if you want a quality tattoo or gorgeous hair color, you wouldn't hunt for a bargain. The same rule applies when seeking out a lash tech.
Once you've found your extension studio, you might be overwhelmed by all your options for length, type of material, and curl. Thankfully, Richardson has done all the dirty work for you. Read on to find out what lash style and material she recommends for your complexion and eye shape.
It’s Not Just the Clothes You Should Look at on the Libertine Runway - It’s the Nail Art, Too
The talented team of nail techs behind CND seem to never run out of inspiration - or energy. They're known for spending hundreds of hours on intricate designs built out of thin air and acrylic powder. And for this season's Libertine show, they outdid themselves yet again.
According to CND's co-founder and style director Jan Arnold, over 400 hours went into the Fall 2017 designs, and that dedication is mirrored in the fine detail of each nail. (No two models wear the same set!)
This is CND's sixth season working with Libertine and its designer Johnson Hartig. Arnold explained that 50 different nails are initially created before the team settles on the final designs and theme. For this Fall, the nails have a global source of inspiration.
"Johnson [Hartig, Libertine designer] was so inspired by the Romanian Gypsy," explained Arnold. "When you think of the Romanian Gypsy, she was sort of the original upcycler . . . merging clashing fabrics and textures together, and it just works effortlessly." As a result, each model flaunted nails with hand-painted roses as well as embellished talons, including "gypsy chains" which all women wore on one finger.
The needlepoint work of Uzbekistani village women was another influence on the finished look. This prompted "shag rug" nails (which featured threads woven and knotted into the talon, then trimmed) and "Bob Marley" nails (a nod to dreadlock-like fringe). Vivid colors, feathers, and beads added more excitement to each hand.
Read on to see how all these incredible concepts and designs melded into one fabulous manicure at Libertine Fall 2017.
20+ Inspirational Movies For Girls With Strong Black Role Models
We asked our friends from Common Sense Media to share their list of recommended movies that show the strength of black female role models - read through to see what they chose.
Although there's some progress in Hollywood toward diversity in films, it's not enough. Fortunately there are movies with inspiring African-American role models who positively affect girls' ideas of their self-worth. From Tiana, the first African-American Disney princess, to Misty Copeland, the first African-American principal dancer at the American Ballet Theater, the hardworking heroines in these films overcome adversity to accomplish their goals. Some of these top-rated titles might need more parental input when tough topics such as racism and slavery come up. However, these movies ultimately provide girls with messages of strength and perseverance.
This Little Boy Getting Star-struck Over Ed Sheeran Is the Cutest Thing You'll See All Day
Ed Sheeran stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday for a special Valentine's Day episode, but he was definitely overshadowed by a sweet little kid named Kai. After giving very passionate performances of Katy Perry and Bruno Mars songs during his last few visits, the 8-year-old switched it up by serenading the host, who he refers to as his girlfriend, with Ed's song "Thinking Out Loud." Not only does he look adorable as he belts out the lyrics, but he gets so lost in the music, he actually doesn't realize when the English singer comes out on stage to surprise him. Of course, when he finally does see him, he gets adorably starstruck.

And now that they're getting ready to expand their family by two, we're sure there will be even more sweet moments to come. Keep reading to see their cutest PDA pictures now.
Channing Tatum and Wife Jenna Re-Create a Few of Their Step Up Scenes on the Beach
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum have been married since 2009, but they still act like teenagers who sneak out of the house for some alone time (and we love it). The adorable couple escaped real life this week when they jetted off to Hawaii for a tropical vacation, and on Thursday, they were spotted flirting up a storm in the surf. Channing and Jenna, who met on the set of 2006's Step Up and are now parents to daughter Everly, appeared to re-create some of the film's iconic dance moves in the sand. Channing, who showed off his muscles in just black swimming trunks, playfully picked up Jenna, who looked amazing in a red bikini, and brought her into the water. They laughed up a storm and high-fived their way through the afternoon, proving that the key to any romance is to never stop being best friends.

So if you're headed to a warm location this Winter or simply want to stock up for the Summer - it's never too early - look ahead for lots of inspiration from Selena.
Hold Up - Did The Vampire Diaries Just Kill Off a MAJOR Character?
\
The Vampire Diaries had one hell of an episode on Friday night - in every sense of the word. After much anticipation, Kai makes his epic return as the show's big bad, and he certainly doesn't disappoint. After escaping hell when Matt rings the Maxwell bell, Kai offers up a deal with two of his worst enemies, Damon and Alaric - he'll bring back Elena if they help him break free from Cade . . . for good. Sounds like a win-win for both teams, right? Wrong.
Damon and Kai head into Mystic Falls to find a solution, and things start to go haywire. When Kai's pull to hell grows stronger, his whole body starts to break down, a problem he believes will only be fixed by feeding on the worst of the worst souls. While it does ease his hunger, the two come to a standstill when Cade gets word of his disappearance. Short on time and at his wit's end, Damon tries to convince Kai that the only way he won't be dragged back to hell is by atoning his sins, aka breaking that pesky sleeping curse on Elena Gilbert. The two head to the Salvatore crypt, and the real fun begins.
As they reach Elena's coffin, Kai has a change of heart and tells Damon that he's been in hell long enough to know that redemption doesn't exist. He's a psychopath, and he's okay with that. But if he's going to go out, he's going to go out with a bang. Not only does he siphon Damon of all his vampire magic causing him to desiccate, he also casts a cloaking spell and takes Elena's coffin with him! Where does he go? What is he going to do with Elena? Is Damon dead? We have SO MANY QUESTIONS. Kai may be a total bad guy, but he's a very good villain.
This Raccoon Hitched a Ride on the Back of a Trash Truck and It Was Relatable AF
When Helena B. Evich spotted a raccoon riding on the back of a garbage pickup truck, she just knew she had to do something about it. Evich, a reporter at Politico who lives in Arlington, VA, took a photo of the furry animal and alerted the driver to send help.
This raccoon is having a rough morning-just wanted some trash & ended up in Rosslyn!
>And yes I alerted the driver http://pic.twitter.com/L3y3JFBpFx- Helena B. Evich (@hbottemiller) February 17, 2017
"I felt bad for the little bugger even tho raccoons are kind of the worst," she tweeted right after. The initial photo of the raccoon has now racked up more than 5,000 retweets and 12,000 "likes". ARL Now, a local news site in Arlington, also reported about the bizarre raccoon chase.
"As soon as we found out that the raccoon was on the truck, the driver pulled over because we didn't want the raccoon to get injured," said Anna Wilkinson, the communications director for the garbage company, to ARL Now. The raccoon reportedly traveled seven miles from Rosslyn to Falls Church before Wilkinson notified the Falls Church Police Department to send out its animal control team.
"The raccoon avoided capture and escaped towards the Larry Graves park area," said an official report from the city of Falls Church.
While it appears that the raccoon's wild adventure ended on a positive note, we couldn't help but relate to the little guy who summed up how most of us feel hanging on to 2017 even though it's already a pile of garbage.
This Is How You Make Room in Your Closet For More Stuff
The following post was originally featured on Birdie Shoots and written by Kelly Torrez, who is part of POPSUGAR Select Latina.
I'm officially almost at the end of my no-buy month, so I thought it would be the perfect time to do a bit of Spring cleaning. I tend to keep my closet pretty seasonal, and Spring can be a tricky time to start bringing clothing back into the mix. For me the most important thing is to think about the months ahead, and the pieces I know are tried and true. My go-to pieces are usually cotton shirts, skirts, and a few dresses. Since I'm limited on storage I always box up my Summer clothing once the season ends. In all honesty, unboxing is like a shopping trip in itself. I love "rediscovering" tops or blouses that I had completely forgotten about.
Before adding anything back into my closet I always do a solid clean out of the items already hanging. Typically, I sort things into three categories, one keep, two donate, and three sell. As a general rule of thumb, if you're ever on the fence about whether or not you want to keep something, ask yourself, "have I worn this in the last six months?" If the answer is no, it's likely that you won't wear it anytime soon. Purging your closet can be difficult. My advice? Approach it with a glass of wine and a strong will to clean things up!
If I've decided that the item is something I'm going to sell, I add it to my Thred Up pile. If you aren't familiar with Thred Up, you can read more about it here. The company is more or less a website that sends you a large garment bag to fill that you send in after your clean out. The one thing that drew me to the company, aside from the suggestion from Emily at Dear Serendipity, was that any items that don't meet their level of standards are donated to a charity of your choice, pretty awesome right?
Once you've gone through your existing wardrobe, it's time to get down to organizing. I have a few tried and true rules when it comes to keeping things looking spiffy, which you can find below:
- TOSS YOUR DRY CLEANER HANGERS: These are not meant to last, and become more of a hassle the longer they linger around your closet. Invest in streamline hangers, the velvet material keeps garments from slipping and keeps things looking tidy.
- GET RID OF TISSUE OR TRASH: If you have tags, tissue or trash sardined into the nooks and crannies of your closet now is the time to toss them.
- ORGANIZE CLOTHING: Group together and organize your clothing in categories. Think jeans and pants, skirts and blouses, and coats and jackets.
- ORGANIZE BY COLOR: This is more of a personal preference but, I find that when my clothing is arranged by color and style it makes searching for things that much easier.
- INVEST IN HANGING ORGANIZERS: If your goal is to maximize your storage, then investing in hanging organizers is a must. Target and The Container Store carry a wide variety of prints and styles to hold everything under the sun. I like to store tennis shoes and flats in these. Double-rods are also a great way to store skirts or short hemmed items.
- FOLD SWEATERS: Do not hang your sweaters! This can cause your sweater to become misshapen and can stretch out the shoulders. If you're storing wool, remember to keep in a garment bag or with cedar balls.
Triple Threat: 22 Actors Who Swept Award Season
With award season raging in Hollywood, we're starting to get a sense of the movies that are poised to win big (we're looking at you, La La Land). The biggest honor someone can pull off during these months is the Triple Crown: when one actor takes home the Globe, the SAG Award, and the Oscar. There are many men (and women!) who have succeeded to do this in the past, so if you're curious to see the talented people who took home all three for their work all in the same year, just take a look at this list of triple winners.

Donald Glover Is Playing Simba in Disney's Lion King Reboot!
After rebooting classic tales like Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast, it was only a matter of time before Disney decided to make a live-action film out of The Lion King. News of the reboot was announced in 2016, and now there's been an exciting casting update! Disney enlisted director Jon Favreau (who helmed last year's The Jungle Book), and on Friday, the director revealed that Donald Glover would be playing Simba.
I just can't wait to be king. #Simba http://pic.twitter.com/wUYKixMBJI
- Jon Favreau (@Jon_Favreau) February 18, 2017
Additionally, legendary James Earl Jones will play Mufasa!
Looking forward to working with this legend. #Mufasa http://pic.twitter.com/1LszbWrcYT
- Jon Favreau (@Jon_Favreau) February 18, 2017
According to the press release, "Disney and Favreau will build on the groundbreaking technology used in The Jungle Book to bring the story of Simba to photorealistic life." Interesting. Disney hasn't announced a release date, so right now we can just concentrate on Beauty and the Beast - and all the other Disney movies getting reboots.

A Simple Breakdown of What Moonlight Is About
While the glitz and glamour of La La Land has earned the larger-than-life musical a record-tying 14 Academy Award nominations, a heartbreakingly beautiful underdog may be giving it a run for its money. Moonlight, nominated for eight Oscars, draws on the lives of director Barry Jenkins and writer Tarell Alvin McCraney and is based on McCraney's stage play, In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue. It tells the story of Chiron, a young black man growing up in a rough Miami neighborhood and evolving from a shy child to a complex, troubled adult.
Act 1: "Little"
Chiron's story is told in three parts, and the main character is portrayed by three different actors, depicting him at varying milestone ages. Alex Hibbert opens the film as a quiet, school-age Chiron, who people call "Little." He's bullied by classmates and mistreated by his sole caretaker, his single mother, Paula (Naomie Harris), who is addicted to drugs and wavers between neglect and abuse. Young Chiron finds an unexpected father figure in Juan (Mahershala Ali), the kingpin of the local drug trade. It's in the home that Juan shares with his girlfriend, Teresa (Janelle Monáe), where Chiron feels safe, cared for, and comforted. This haven, however, is shattered once young Chiron realizes the role Juan plays in his own mother's drug addiction.
Act 2: "Chiron"
Amid the bullying that forces Chiron (now going by his real name) into isolation, he finds a friend in classmate Kevin (played first by Jaden Piner and later as Jharrel Jerome and André Holland). The bond they forge through the film's second chapter, however, is broken as a peer named Terrel (Patrick Decile) sets his sights on mercilessly abusing a teenage Chiron (now played by Ashton Sanders). The complexity of Chiron and Kevin's relationship reaches its peak during an intimate encounter that, for the first time, forces Chiron to confront his sexual identity. This continued struggle with his sexuality is central to Chiron's story, and his initial exploration with Kevin causes confusion. It's followed by an act of betrayal that leads to a pivotal turning point.
Act 3: "Black"
It's in the film's third act that Chiron's story comes full circle as he struggles to make sense of his adult life and find peace in the fractured and fragmented relationships of his past. Trevante Rhodes portrays this grown-up version of Chiron, called "Black," facing the fallout of his complex, painful youth.
While the question "What is Moonlight about?" can be succinctly answered in chronological plot points ("He is gay. He grows up. The end," as Kristen Page-Kirby teased in The Washington Post), the true answer can't be conveyed in a simple synopsis. "That's what happens in Moonlight, but that's ultimately not what it's about," Page-Kirby continued. "What it's really about, though, is what it's like to live that life."
