Everything We Know About Top of the Lake Season 2

Remember Top of the Lake? The 2013 crime drama that made The Killing look like Teletubbies? It's returning for a second season, and while we won't get to see it for a while, we do have some exciting intel. Who will be starring? What's the plot? Is Jane Campion involved again? We can answer most of these now, but you'll have to stay tuned for the rest of the details. Take a look below to get the scoop and find out why you should watch Top of the Lake.

La La Land: Is That Really Ryan Gosling Playing the Piano?!

La La Land is the most enchanting movie of 2016, but besides the singing and dancing, one particular element will dazzle you: Ryan Gosling's piano skills. He plays a struggling jazz purist in the film, and there are some musical scenes that may cause you to wonder if it's really Gosling playing or a body double. Shocking as it may be, it's definitely Gosling playing the whole time!

"In fact, there's not a single close-up shot of [the character] Sebastian's hands in the entire movie that's a piano double," director Damien Chazelle said at a press event for the movie. "It's all Ryan." Even John Legend, who has a smaller part in the film, was impressed: "I was jealous, man," he said. "Watching him play, I was like, 'Wow, this guy is really good and he just learned this in the last few months.' It's pretty amazing."

According to Gosling, it took him three months of lessons to learn to play jazz piano: "The director wanted to shoot all those sequences in one take so there was no opportunity to squeeze in, or sneak in, a proper piano player." How is one person this talented?

17 Disney Princess Runway Dresses, From New York to London

We just can't help it. Every season we watch the runway, waiting for looks that remind us of our favorite Disney characters. It's not that these sparkly, dreamy dresses aren't perfect for the red carpet; they're appropriate there too. It's just that there's something about the 17 designs below that feel all the more flavorful and costume-like. In fact, if Ariel, Aurora, and (scarily enough) Cruella de Vil were here in IRL, we bet they'd choose these outfits in a heartbeat. Scroll to see all the perfect pairings we found this season.

10 Tips For Getting Through the First Year With Twins in 1 Piece

I can still distinctly remember our joy on the day we learned our two little guys were on the way. After my husband and I both recovered from the initial shock of witnessing two steady heartbeats on the ultrasound screen, I remember feeling sorry for all of the other expecting moms in the doctor's waiting room thinking most were only expecting one baby. I'd always been an overachiever and, I'll be honest here, this whole having-two-babies-at-once thing felt like the epitome of overachievement.

I wrote a list of suggestions for a friend who had recently found out she was having twins and figured there are other expecting twin mommas out there who could use the same advice. And remember, my boys are 6. I survived. They survived. You've got this.

1. Realize you're in survival mode.

In the first few months, which I affectionately coined the "Let's Just Keep Everyone Alive" season, do not exert energy on any activity that is not critical to the survival of your little tribe. Remember that everyone (importantly, and often overlooked, YOU, momma) needs to eat. Shamelessly enlist friends and family to prepare meals for you. Freeze meals. Order takeout. Do whatever you can to ensure you are feeding everyone.

Drink a lot of water.

Sleep whenever and wherever you can. And do not believe for one second that you will be able to "nap when the babies nap." That is nonsense that moms of singletons throw in your face to make you feel even crazier than you already do. These babies do not sleep at the same time. There is always someone who needs a clean diaper or has to eat. I had a strict rule that if you have arms or feet (sleeping babies in a car seat can be rocked with a foot, thank you very much), you were allowed in my house to help. And while you rock (whoever you are, it doesn't really matter as long as you are rocking/feeding/changing a baby), I sleep. Period.

2. Breathe through the tears.

They will cry. A lot. And usually at the same time. And, yes, you will be alone with them when they cry. At the same time. I'm warning you now; these two teeny, tiny, wobbly little humans will bring you to your knees. Your heart will break when you come to terms with your physical inability to calm both babies. You will cry and you will do your best to contort your arms and legs into bizarre positions in order to attempt holding and feeding two newborns at once. (I had some success holding one while resting one in the crook of my knee while bouncing my leg and rocking my arms.)

And, even though I couldn't stand it when people told me this, I'm going to say it: it is OK if they cry. It's OK. In the spirit of Anna and Elsa, let it go! Let go of the guilt. I promise you, they will soon become these little people who can feed themselves (Yes! It is amazing!) and they will not remember which baby you fed first at 3 a.m. when they were 5 weeks old. They won't. I promise. (OK, I don't know this for sure, but I'm about 99.9 percent confident here.)

Focus on the most urgent need first. Then, move on to the next baby. All the while praying that someone will miraculously drop by to see if you need any help (Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, God, for all of the merciful "drop-ins" during my first few weeks home alone with the boys).

3. How to transport two babies from Point A to Point B.

First, you can cancel your gym membership (as if that didn't already happen the second your doctor gave you the order to stop working out during pregnancy with twins - or was that just me?), because you will be doing some heavy lifting. Lugging two car seats is a workout. Those things weigh a ton. Then, add the weight of the babies. You are easily benching 450, girl (give or take a pound). You are superwoman.

And the trick to getting the babies in the car is to load them up in their infant seats inside of the house. Leave one on the floor while you put one in the car and then go back for the other.

*Bonus points if you have a black lab who keeps watch over the baby sitting inside since you will worry that your newborn has unlatched himself and jumped out of his seat in the 45 seconds that you were away. It sounds crazy, but you too will become a frantic loon when running on two hours of sleep. Just trust me on this and prepare your people for it: lack of sleep can turn the most sane, calm momma into a full-blown crazy person.

4. Don't worry about leaving the house (especially by yourself).

It won't happen. There will always be someone who spit up and needs an outfit change. Or someone who needs a diaper change. Or someone who needs to eat again. Just take each day in stride. If you are able to walk the twins to the end of the driveway in their stroller, count that as a success. Remember that this is just a short season of life. This too shall pass.

5. Really, just stay home (at least for a while).

Trust me, I once tried to meet a friend for lunch the week after the boys came home from the hospital. My friend had also just had a baby so it seemed like a fun idea. I mean, isn't that what new moms on maternity leave do? (Did you notice the very important detail here? My friend had A newborn. ONE.) Speaking from experience, as a momma of twins AND a momma to a singleton, taking one baby to lunch with a friend is completely reasonable. Taking two babies to lunch (with a friend who has her own baby and can't even help hold one of yours) is a bad, bad idea. I'm sorry, people of Panera. You shouldn't have had to see that.

Just avoid it for as long as you possibly can.

6. Be prepared: people are weird and they say weird things.

My favorite: a friend of mine kept getting asked if her boy/girl twins were identical (I wish I were kidding).

People will ask if your babies are "natural" (don't even get me started on that one), and everyone will ask if twins run in your family (an unveiled attempt to be subtle when asking if you conceived with the assistance of fertility treatments).

Just smile and remember that your babies will grow up and become less fascinating to passing strangers eventually.

7. Write everything down.

You will forget which baby you fed at the 3 a.m. feeding. It's inevitable.

*And, on that note, wake brother/sister up after you finish the first feeding to keep the babies on the same schedule. As awful as the thought of waking a sleeping baby is, it's the best option if you hope to get any sleep between nighttime feedings.

8. Let go of expectations.

I mean it. Let 'em go.

9. Slow down and marvel at the miracles in your arms.

TWO BABIES. Double the joy. Truly, each and every day will reveal new reasons to be grateful for the double portion in your arms. Back to #7 . . . write it all down.

I promise, with each passing day you will gain more confidence in your ability to parent these two little people. You will laugh with them and chase after them as they learn to crawl and then walk (in opposite directions, of course). You will watch their individual personalities emerge and you will be in awe of their devotion to one another. You will be overwhelmed with kisses and hugs at the end of a long day.

10. Throw a party on the 365-day mark!

Celebrate! You ALL MADE IT! Toddlerhood brings new challenges, but you survived the first year . . . the hardest by far with twins, in my opinion. Take time to reflect on the past year with loved ones. And, of course, Champagne.

FYI, If You Lunch With President Trump, He May Make You Order the Meatloaf

The Boston Globe reports that President Donald Trump made Governor Chris Christie order the meatloaf when they recently had lunch together at the White House. Gov. Christie explained, "This is what it's like to be with Trump. He says, 'There's the menu, you guys order whatever you want.' And then he says, 'Chris, you and I are going to have the meatloaf . . . I'm telling you, the meatloaf is fabulous.'" Christie had no choice but to oblige! While there's no report on whether or not the meatloaf was actually "fabulous," we do know that it's a staple in Trump's diet.

Natalie Portman's Outfit Looks Super Fancy, Until You Look Down at Her Shoes

On a day-to-day basis, Natalie Portman's maternity look is super casual and laid-back. Roll out the red carpet, however, and this expectant mama transforms into what we call a total style goddess. She's worn floor-sweeping gowns, body-hugging minis, and a variety of printed dresses - all looks perfectly complementing her baby bump. Natalie was even one of the first stars to wear coveted Spring '17 designs like a custom Brandon Maxwell ruffle minidress.

The actress even wore a powerful piece from Dior to the Women's March. For the significant occasion, Natalie chose a t-shirt that read "We Should All Be Feminists," from the fashion house's Spring '17 collection.

From runway to the stage, this is one Dior piece that'll go down in history and we're glad the cameras are here to capture her best maternity style moments. Since she's not due until Spring, a tidbit she revealed to Jimmy Fallon, it's a sign Natalie's got many more red carpet style snaps to come. Scroll on to see some of her best looks so far.

Now that the premiere is upon us, take a look at the bushel of details we have about what to expect - including Rihanna! Here's the rundown, plus the creepy-as-hell teaser.

Is Quinoa Actually Healthier Than Brown Rice?

Is quinoa the new kale? It's certainly nutritious, and it's getting a whoooole lotta hype. You'll see quinoa at any grocery store nowadays, at natural markets, restaurants, and bulk retailers like Costco. Even Starbucks is getting in on the quinoa trend!

But hold on, is quinoa somehow magically better than brown rice, a staple grain that's been flying under the radar all this time? Brown rice hasn't really had its 15 minutes of fame, has it? It doesn't have a sexy, mysterious name like "quinoa," nor is it from an exotic place like South America, and no one is marketing it as a superfood.

"Certain foods are becoming 'trends' now," nutrition coach Carrie McMahon told POPSUGAR. "It skews people's perceptions, as they think a food is somehow healthier because its a trend."

She noted that "quinoa has slightly more protein [than brown rice], but not such a huge amount that I tell clients, 'absolutely, you must have it.' If you prefer brown rice, eat that!"

As you'll see below in the chart, quinoa has over 50 percent more protein than brown rice (three more grams per cup) - but that only makes a significant difference if you eat an entire cup of cooked quinoa. Most of the time we're eating less (a serving size of cooked quinoa is a 3/4 cup portion).

1 cup cooked Calories Fat (g) Carbs (g) Fiber (g) Protein (g)
Quinoa 222 4 39 5 8
Brown Rice 216 1.8 44.8 3.5 5

In terms of micronutrients, quinoa has more magnesium and iron than brown rice, but brown rice has more selenium and manganese. They're about even in calcium.

Another consideration: quinoa is also much more expensive than brown rice - more than double the price per ounce if you're looking at Whole Foods' 365 organic line (a 16 ounce bag of organic quinoa costs $6, but a 20 ounce bag of brown rice costs only $3; that's 38 cents per ounce versus 15, respectively).

Don't get us wrong, we love quinoa. It's delicious, versatile, and truly nutritious. But so is brown rice! And while it may not be the star of the moment in the health world, it's just as good for you and slightly lower in calories and fat than quinoa. Our suggestion? Incorporate both of these healthy whole grains into your diet.

This New Single Features Shakira Like You've Never Heard Her Before

We're so taken aback by Prince Royce and Shakira's new bachata song, we don't really know what to do with ourselves. When we heard the duo were collaborating on a track for the Dominican singer's new album Five, we expected it to be a pop or reggaeton tune like Shakira's "Chantaje" with Maluma, but that's farthest from what happened.

The traditional bachata song features that tropical sound we love so much, and deep lyrics about an intense relationship, like: "Tú me abriste las heridas / Que ya daba por curadas / Con limón, tequila y sal / Una historia repetida /Solamente un déjà vu / Que nunca llega a su final." Listen to the romantic ballad for yourself above - and wait at the edge of your seat for the sure to be amazing music video.

Why Ryan Gosling Is Going to Win the Best Actor Oscar This Year

The award season tides might just be changing. Every year, there are clear favorites for Oscars, made pretty obvious after the Critic's Choice, Golden Globes, and SAG Awards all get handed out. About a month ago, if you'd asked us (or really, any Oscars odds-makers), we would have said that Casey Affleck was going to sweep the whole season and pick up best actor statues all the way to the Oscars. But the season has been more interesting than most, and now, we'd like to put out a theory that now has a lot of steam: Ryan Gosling will win the best actor Oscar for La La Land.

Here's why we think he has a very strong shot.

Image Source: Getty / Christopher Polk

Casey Affleck Lost the SAG Award

Denzel Washington won his first SAG Award for best actor for Fences this week, throwing our usual metric of "whoever gets the SAG Award, gets the Oscar" right off. As you can see, there's been very little variation on SAG winners who go on to win the Oscar in the best actor category, leaving room for some unpredictability at the Oscars. So, you say, why isn't this a story about why Washington is going to win the Oscar? Keep reading.

Gosling Won the Golden Globe

The Golden Globes split its best actor award into drama and musical/comedy, and of course, we watched Gosling take home the musical/comedy statue with a heartwarming speech. Affleck won the award for best actor in a drama that night, following his win in the same category at the Critics' Choice Awards. So far, Affleck still has the most best actor awards this season, but like we said, losing the SAG Award was a major hit to his momentum. And, for those keeping score at home, Washington has only won one major award this season so far.

Ryan Gosling Will Campaign

This is a major factor that we often forget about, unless you're an industry insider. As much as you'd like to think that Oscars go to the people who deserve them the most, for the best acting in the best film that year, that's just not what happens. There is an element of campaigning that nominees do to better their chances. We're not saying Gosling is going to go out and shake hands and hold babies, but his charm offensive has already begun. His Golden Globes speech about his family melted our collective hearts. His reaction to his Oscar nomination was the perfect amount of humble. He's America's boyfriend.

Contrast that with Affleck, who has been dogged by disturbing sexual assault allegations, which, prior to the SAG Awards, hadn't seemed to affect his award season streak. Given that SAG Awards are voted on by actors, and his fellow actors had already begun speaking out against Affleck's recognition, it could be possible that that was a factor in his loss. Whether the Academy will feel the same way is yet to be seen. Adding another black mark to Affleck's chances: his roasting of the same people who honored him at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards in early January. Funny, sure, but it didn't make him look grateful.

La La Land Is the Still the Award Season Favorite

Though La La Land was only honored once at the SAG Awards for Emma Stone's performance, it's still the most celebrated film of award season, having broken records for Golden Globe wins and tied records for Oscar nominations. Who's to say if La La Land is Gosling's best work yet, but he pulls his weight while arguably showing more range of talent than other nominees in that he's singing, dancing, playing the piano, and comedically and dramatically delivering. The movie should go on to win in most major categories on Oscar night, and one of those categories is very likely to be best actor.

How to Style Jogger Pants Beyond the Airport Outfit

Joggers are here to stay, at least for Winter. As much as we would like to give up this lazy-girl staple, it's January and it's cold, making joggers an easy outfit pick. Though we often see It girls like Gigi Hadid wearing the pants to the airport, it goes way beyond just certified loungewear. You can easily take joggers to the streets with a change of shoes or top. Don't discount the versatility of these pants. Ahead are eight street-style-approved ways to style joggers for outside of your home.

Parents Be Warned: The Latest Social Media Challenge Is Sending Kids to the Hospital

A bizarre and dangerous internet challenge is making a resurgence on social media and kids are ending up in the hospital from participating in the trend.

Although the "salt and ice challenge" has made its rounds more than once over the past few years, it's gaining popularity again among kids and teens, but many are ending up with accidental chemical burns. The seemingly simple challenge calls for kids to place salt and ice together on their skin. However, salt lowers the temperature of ice to as low as negative 17 degrees Celsius or 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit, and the effect on skin can be similar to frostbite. However, because of the redness and numbness from the ice, kids often don't realize that they are giving themselves potentially second-degree burns.

As a part of the "game" kids are seeing who can stand the pain the longest and are posting photos of their burns to social media as proof. The National Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Children in the United Kingdom issued a warning to parents about the craze.

"It is important for schools keep a close eye on all emerging trends and we welcome the warning to parents [sic]," a NSPCC spokesperson told the Huffington Post UK. "The rise of social media has contributed to increasing peer pressure among children. This 'craze' [salt and ice challenge] is another clear example of the risks."

The Color Pink Has a Whole New Meaning in Fashion

The first time I thought that pink looked really badass was when Rihanna showed up to the Grammys in 2015. She wore a double-tiered Giambattista Valli dress that seemed to take over the red carpet. Though it invited plenty of cupcake memes, there was nothing sweet about it. Scan through her wardrobe and you'll see how Rihanna has always styled the color with her signature edge. It turns out she was just ahead of the game.

As we followed the runways at Paris Haute Couture Week this season, we were impressed by the many pink poufs, including Lily-Rose Depp's Chanel wedding gown. Though these designs might have been created with a delicate hand, finished with whimsical, girlie details, it would take guts to wear them - to know that everyone would be staring at you. It would take confidence to glide along in all those extra layers of tulle.

Throw out all the attributes you used to associate with pink, because it's gone through something of a transformation. In our eyes, pink still represents femininity, but a daring, confident brand of femininity. Pink doesn't blend in with the crowd; it's the single hue women are opting for when they want to stand out. Read on to track the color's latest transformation, from the runways to the red carpet and on the street, too.

Spoiler Alert: Peeps Oreos Are on Their Way to a Shelf Near You!

It's not even Spring yet, but we have our mind on one very important springtime task: finding Peeps Oreos. They're real, and they're exactly as you'd image: golden Oreos filled with bright-pink Peeps marshmallow creme that appears to be speckled with sanding sugar, just like the exterior of a Peep. The packaging has no shame in admitting these cookies are artificially flavored, and we have no shame either - we can't wait to dig into a package of this limited-edition Easter snack. Instagram user thejunkfoodaisle spotted Peeps Oreos on Walmart's website, and they'll be available at Walmart stores nationwide starting Feb. 22. If these marshmallowy Oreos are anything like the Marshmallow Crispy Oreos of 2014 (arguably the best limited-edition Oreo flavor of all time), we're in for a treat. Better than an actual Peep? We think so.

There's a Remake of Selena's "Si Una Vez" With Becky G - and It'll Be Your New Jam

Following the success of their reggaeton remix of Selena Quintanilla's "Si Una Vez," producer duo Play-N-Skillz released yet another remix of the same song - this time featuring Becky G, Frankie J, and Kap G. While the previous release was performed in Spanish, the latest one features segments sung in both Spanish and English, as well as a brand-new rap verse.

A flashy music video for the first remix was released at the start of 2017, so we're hoping there will be another star-studded video coming soon. In the meantime, jam out to the newly released version above.

14 Things You Probably Didn't Know About La La Land

La La Land is causing a fan frenzy this award season. Not only does it feature a star-studded cast, but it is also bringing back musicals in a big way. Even if you're already familiar with the enchanting music and the romantic story, there are quite a few interesting tidbits about the film you probably didn't know. Was Ryan Gosling really playing the piano during the movie? And why is Emma Stone's dress yellow? Find out below.

Could Mace Windu Be Supreme Leader Snoke? This Theory Is Very Convincing

When it comes to the newest Star Wars trilogy, so much is still shrouded in mystery. Since watching 2015's Episode VII (The Force Awakens), our primary focus has been on the main character, Rey. The world at large couldn't stop theorizing about the identity of her parents. Now that we know Episode VIII has been titled The Last Jedi, our minds are spinning even more trying to figure out who the title is referring to. Among all of these questions, one even larger mystery seems to linger: we're talking about the identity of Supreme Leader Snoke. As we consider the suspects, one new theory has come totally out of left field. What if Mace Windu, played by Samuel L. Jackson in Episode I, Episode II, and Episode III, is the mysterious new villain? Let's break down the logic behind the claim.

Mace Windu Might Still Be Alive

Jackson stated in a Twitter Q&A in June 2016 that he thinks Mace Windu is alive. "In my mind, he's alive. [Jedi] can fall incredibly high distances and not die." It's worth noting that Mace Windu loses a hand and experiences the full impact of Palpatine's Force lightning before he's flung out of a window to his death. That said, no Jedi has ever died in the series from any of those three types of injury. In fact, some characters have survived falls of even greater distances. If Mace Windu doesn't die in Episode III, there are unlimited options for where he could be.

But How Could Mace Become as Disfigured as Snoke?

As is clearly evidenced in that very same scene, the reason Palpatine becomes so deformed is because of his own Force lightning deflected back at him. It stands to reason that Windu could develop the same horrifying scars and pallor from Palpatine's attack. Snoke's huge head scar could be from Windu's great fall. And, hey, they're both bald. It's worth noting.

Wouldn't He Be Old as Hell, Though?

Yes, but that doesn't mean his survival up through the new trilogy is out of the question. After all, Snoke does say he witnessed the rise and fall of the Galactic Empire, meaning he was around during the first two trilogies. This means he could very well be Mace Windu.

Mace Windu Is in Touch With the Dark Side

Mace Windu notably harnesses the power of the dark side, even in spite of the fact that he's a Jedi knight. Even his purple lightsaber is an indicator that he straddles both sides. The trademark blue of the Jedi could mix with the red of the Sith to get this very color.

Mace Windu's Motive For Revenge

So, why would he turn to the dark side? Well, the fact that he's betrayed by Anakin Skywalker may be reason enough. We know Snoke is determined to find Luke Skywalker, and using Anakin's betrayal as a motivating force would explain why. Plus! If you subscribe to the theory that Rey is actually a Palpatine, it strengthens the argument and explains why Snoke is so obsessed with her. After all, Mace Windu would want to get back at Palpatine for everything he does in that supposed death scene.

There are even more layers to this, but that's the gist. If you're interested in Mace Windu's signature lightsaber move, his connection to Finn, and the further involvement with Kylo Ren, this video outlines everything in much more detail:

Mom's Note to Stranger at McDonald's Who Got Involved When Her Toddler Wouldn't "Go Potty"

A stranger in a McDonald's bathroom overheard a typical fight between a mom and her toddler: the Kansas parent was trying to reason with her 3-year-old to pee before they left to get back in the car.

The stranger listened in as Tiffany Miller tried to explain to her daughter that it was a long drive home and she had to use the potty before they left. She also heard the child explain that she was afraid the toilet was going to flush while she was sitting on it. Despite her mother promising to block the sensor and prevent it from flushing, the little girl wouldn't comply, and promised to make it through the drive home without having an accident.

In a heartfelt thank you to this stranger posted on her Facebook, Tiffany explained what happened when the woman decided to step in. "You told her you would give her a bracelet if she would go potty for Mommy. She perked up and agreed," Tiffany wrote. "I turned to quickly put her on the potty (before she changed her mind). You told her the bracelet would be waiting outside the stall for her. I turned to say thank you, but you were already gone."

When the child finished using the bathroom she found a bracelet and a candy bar waiting outside her stall. "Her eyes lit up as she put the bracelet on after using the bathroom," Tiffany wrote. "We made it home to Wichita safely and she is currently sleeping soundly next to me . . . still wearing the bracelet."

Although the woman was gone before Tiffany could catch her name, she's grateful for this stranger's act of kindness: "I wish I could have thanked you in person, but maybe you will see this. If not, hopefully it inspires someone else to be kind like you were."

This Actress Is the Only Latina With an EGOT

Lin-Manuel Miranda is in the running for the coveted EGOT with his nomination to the 2017 Oscars, but before the Hamilton creator came legend Rita Moreno.

The Puerto Rican actress, now appearing in Netflix's One Day at a Time, took just 16 years to land an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony and join the short list of highly awarded performers that have done the same, which includes Audrey Hepburn, Richard Rodgers, and Whoopi Goldberg. But did you know that Rita was only the third performer ever to land an EGOT in 1977 and that she's the only Latina ever to do this? Scroll ahead to find out more details of Rita's record-breaking accomplishment.

  • 1961: Rita won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Anita in West Side Story. Her performance of "America" is legendary!
  • 1972: She takes a Grammy Award for Best Album for Children for The Electric Company Album. She was part of the original cast of the PBS show also featuring Morgan Freeman, Bill Cosby, Judy Graubart, Lee Chamberlin, and Skip Hinnant.
  • 1975: The Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play goes to Rita for her role as Googie Gomez in The Ritz, which was later turned into a movie also featuring the actress.
  • 1977: To complete her EGOT, Rita took an Emmy Award for Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program for a supporting role in The Muppet Show. Interesting, right?

These Are the Top 8 Beauty Trends You Need to Know For Fall 2017

There was a common backstage beauty trend thread throughout New York Fashion Week Fall 2017: imperfect, natural, and playful beauty is in.

For starters, we predict there will be far more instances of well-placed, thoughtfully balanced color on the face (picture vibrant color with otherwise neutral makeup). You can also expect a major deviation from the pointed, drawn on "Instagram eyebrow," which is being replaced by a groomed, but never-over-done brow.

This same idea extends to the entire face in terms of avoiding excessive highlighter, harshly lined lips, and severe contour. Finally, there will be a certain sexy-meets-sweet fusion that's quite alluring. You'll see what we mean as you keep reading!

Nicole Kidman Plans to Shock You With Her Oscars Dress

Nicole Kidman is one of those stars who definitely stays true to herself when it comes to fashion. While she has the tendency to change up her look, it's very much to suit her mood. From the graceful way she's always moved on the red carpet - since she made her mark on Hollywood in the '90s alongside Tom Cruise - it's clear Nicole's never uncomfortable in what she's wearing.

"I have no problem being divisive," she revealed in Porter magazine, when asked about her 2017 Oscars dress. As you scroll through her most memorable style moments below, you might notice Nicole's tendency to switch things up. While Kidman has preferred a sleek cut, like the tailored suits that she so often goes back to, her dresses have transitioned from glamorous to avant-garde.

Some might call her more recent gowns (frequently debuted at events with her current husband Keith Urban), a little bit quirky, with plenty of sequins, embellishments, embroideries, and capes. Nicole is always daring to try new trends as if they were made for her to flaunt, and she embraces the spotlight with ease. Read on to backtrack Nicole's most flavorful outfits.

What It Means When Your Kids Say a Girl Can't Be President

The other day my daughter came home from camp right before school started. She's 5 years old and just started kindergarten. The last thing I expected was for her to start talking about the presidential candidates; however, there were older kids in camp and so perhaps I shouldn't have been so surprised.

"The kids were chanting, "We hate Trump! We hate Trump!'" she reenacted.

I stopped for a second and collected myself to ask her if she knew who Donald Trump was.

"Of course," she said, "He's the guy with the blond white hair."

So in my 5-year-old's mind, she knows who Trump is. She didn't say why these kids "hated" Trump, but my guess was that the kids were hearing this from their parents. After all, our parents are the first people to pass down values to us on everything from religion to politics.

I explained to her that he, along with Hillary Clinton, are our presidential candidates running to become our very next president. I did this in the simplest of language, of course.

Then she told me with a distraught face, "Some of the kids say a girl can't be president. They say the girl shouldn't be president."

I asked her if she thought that was true, and proud parent here, she said of course not!

In total truth, I will not be voting for Trump come Election Day. While I have found faults in Hillary, I still will be voting for her and I would be lying if I didn't say right out that the idea of having a female president moves me in many ways. I spent a lot of time studying early feminist texts and literature. I remember full well that women fought for the right to vote. I remember my mother, a Democrat, believer in workers' rights and outspoken liberal, sharing with me all of the feminist values I embody today.

So when my daughter told me with her saddened face that her campmates don't believe a woman can be president, it reminded me how far women and how far girls like my daughter will still have to go to ever even "touch" that glass ceiling.

And truly, it's not the children who believe a "girl can't be president," but their parents. And as their parents share this rhetoric and dialogue with their children, how does it then impact the little girls like my daughter? How does it impact their own daughters, nieces, and female cousins?

The parents of my generation and younger - and slightly older - may not feel women are not capable to lead a country, although CBS News said that "four out of five voters say the US is ready to elect a woman for president" and that "76 percent of women and two-thirds of men hope to see a woman in office."

That's a pretty good number. That's promising for women.

But there will always be people that will resist the concept of a woman as president because of their sensitive desires to keep masculine privilege alive. It doesn't matter that women's roles have changed drastically from the days in which we "labored" on the home front and not in the office. It doesn't matter that according to the United States Department of Labor, "Women are projected to account for 51 percent of the increase in total labor force growth between 2008 and 2018."

We work hard, we grow our economy, many of us bare children, and yet still we are seen as incapable leaders, too soft or too emotional or too "shrill."

Yes, too shrill. Fox News's Brit Hume complained about Hillary Clinton's voice while Steve Clemons from The Atlantic said she "lectured too much" and apparently didn't smile enough.

No matter how hard we work or how hard we try, for some people, it will never be enough.

But the problem lies in not the criticism of Hillary, but that these same criticisms and values will be passed on to other little girls and then our daughters will have to bare the weight of these stereotypes and sexist prejudices. It doesn't matter if you love or hate Hillary Clinton. As women and as mothers, as daughters and little girls, these same judgments will be passed on to us and them.

When my daughter told me about what her fellow campers had to say, it reminded me that my daughter, your daughter, and our daughters still have a long way to go before we can even graze that mythical glass ceiling.

And it makes me sad, but still I have hope.

Hailey Baldwin Has a Lot of Bikinis, but She Just Revealed Her Favorite One of All

When you love a bikini style so much, buying it twice isn't strange - it's brilliant. This probably crossed Hailey Baldwin's mind when she picked up her Same Swim swimsuits in two different colors. The model first wore her black-and-white crochet two-piece last May and debuted its sister version in pink over the weekend. Hailey snapped a mirror selfie, leaning against the wall to show off the bikini's cool stitching details.

While Hailey's rose-colored bikini has ties on both sides and the white has none, for the most part the coordinates are identical. The model has a lot of crochet bikinis, but the Same Swim style definitely seems to be her favorite. Though warm weather might not arrive until March, Hailey's convinced us to invest in a crochet bikini of our own. Shop her exact design along with similar styles below.

This Smart Man Just Proposed to His Fiancée With a Box of Chicken Nuggets

Chicken nuggets are the key to most people's hearts, am I right? That's why it makes total sense that one man decided to propose to his now-fiancée on Valentine's Day with a box of crispy chicken nuggets. "Her love for chicken nuggets, I'm sure, is more than she loves me," Kristian Helton told WAND 17 news station about his fiancée Karsyn.

"I know it sounds bad, but I go to McDonald's a lot!" Karsyn admitted. "And I always get chicken nuggets. I won't get anything else." With that in mind, Kristian knew he had to incorporate her love for nuggets in his epic marriage proposal. Kristian inserted the engagement ring inside of a chicken nugget and also used the McDonald's chicken nugget box to ask, "Will you McMarry me??"

The newly engaged couple met almost two years ago on the Fourth of July and revealed they already have plans to officially tie the knot next year on Valentine's Day. Sounds like a happy ending to what might be the best Happy Meal ever.
