You Have to Zoom In to Notice This Glam Detail of Taraji P. Henson's Oscars Look
Taraji P. Henson looked gorgeous as usual when she took the red carpet at the 2017 Academy Awards. But zooming in on her look revealed an unexpected yet oh-so-glam makeup choice that we didn't notice at first glance: teal eyeliner.
The Hidden Figures actress wore the light-blue liner on her upper and lower lash lines, which made for the perfect color accent to her navy velvet dress. The finishing touch to her glowing makeup? St. Tropez's 3-in-1 Bronzing Powder and Self Tan Luxe Dry Oil, which highlighted her cheekbones in the most stunning way.
And let's not forget about her glam bob. Hair stylist Tymothe Wallace created her look by first spraying her strands with Dove Absolute Curls Leave-In Detangler before blowing them dry. He then applied Dove Absolute Curls Supreme Crème Serum for some added shine and softness.
To re-create Taraji's voluminous curls, Tymothe suggests using a curling iron to make pin curls and then setting them with Velcro rollers. Add in some extrastrong hair spray, and you'll be on your way to an Old Hollywood glamour look that's just as chic as Taraji's.

In fact, Janelle even applied her lip product (which we believe to be CoverGirl, since she is a face of the brand) while she walked the red carpet. You're Going to Love This Illustrator's Minimalist Makeover of Harry Potter
It's not easy reimagining our favorite characters from Harry Potter or Star Wars in totally different looks. It's what makes fan art so incredible; dedicated artists and illustrators come up with those images for us. One designer has done it again by creating minimalist illustrations of Harry Potter, Rey, Daenerys Targaryen, and more.
The project, called "Minimal Pop Culture," was created by Amanda Penley, a designer and illustrator living in LA. It's not the first time she's dabbled in coming up with beautiful illustrations of our favorite scenes in books. This time, however, she wanted to focus on "the simplicity of what makes a character," she said to POPSUGAR. To do this, she only used "simple shape[s] and lines" to create the characters you'll see ahead. To her, they barely take any time to put together as she just changes different hair colors and other features of the head and body.
In doing this project, Penley hopes people "are inspired by seeing the characters they know and love." Once you see some of our favorites ahead, you'll definitely love them.
A Syrian Refugee Walked the Oscars Red Carpet in Brandon Maxwell
Hala Kamil is the subject of the Oscar nominated documentary, Watani: My Homeland and a Syrian refugee who looked just as glamorous as the stars on the red carpet. The mother of four wore a custom Brandon Maxwell two-piece gown that looked stunning. The ensemble included a velvet jacket in purple, a hue representative of her favorite flower, and was paired with a floor-grazing black skirt.
The film follows Hala and her children as they flee Aleppo to start a new life in Germany. Brandon Maxwell was touched by her story and connected with Hala through social media to dress the brave woman in collaboration with stylist Jamie Mizrahi. In a post to Instagram, Brandon expressed his pride in dressing Hala, "Hala's strength and courage throughout her experiences is supremely admirable. Seeing her walk the red carpet full of confidence and elegance, and being a small part of her special night means the world to me."

The Very Sweet History of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Oscar Date
On the Oscars red carpet, Lin-Manuel Miranda brought his mom as his date, fulfilling a promise he made to her as a teenager.
"My mom always said, 'When you get nominated, I'm your date,'" Miranda, 37, told ABC News. "I think she said it to me when I was 13 years old." Though Miranda never expected to be nominated for an Oscar, his mom's instincts were correct.
On the red carpet, his mother, Luz Towns-Miranda, described her son as a kid as always singing The Little Mermaid and loyally watching the Oscars every year. On Twitter, Miranda revealed what his mother was doing on the way to the ceremony: watching Gilmore Girls on her phone.

Miranda also made sure his mom looked fierce, enlisting Stacy London to style Luz and find the perfect dress. Because she looks stunning!"
