Proof That Drew Barrymore and Daughter Frankie Are Twins
Drew Barrymore had an adorable date night on Tuesday when she took her 2-year-old daughter, Frankie, to the Society of MSK's Bunny Hop in New York City. While the Santa Clarita Diet star, who we've been obsessed with since the '90s, posed for photos with her little one on the red carpet, we couldn't help but notice how much Frankie looks like her famous mom. Since Drew grew up in the spotlight after her breakout role as Gertie in 1982's E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, there are plenty of photos of the star as a young girl to look back on. Between their beautiful eyes and their little button noses, Drew and Frankie look so much alike (and we love it so much).
Kristen Stewart Reflects on Her Relationship With Robert Pattinson: "The Public Was the Enemy"
Kristen Stewart is known for being notoriously private about her love life, but it appears she's had a change of heart. The actress - who is currently dating model Stella Maxwell - recently sat down with The London Sunday Times and talked about how she's changed her outlook when it comes to her romantic relationships. "I didn't talk about my first relationships that went public because I wanted things that are mine to be mine," she explained. "I hated it that details of my life were being turned into a commodity and peddled around the world. But considering I had so many eyes on me, I suddenly realized [my private life] affects a greater number of people than just me. It was an opportunity to surrender a bit of what was mine, to make even one other person feel good about themselves."
Kristen famously dated Robert Pattinson while playing onscreen lovers in 2008's Twilight, but they eventually called it quits in 2013 after Kristen's cheating scandal with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. Naturally, the relationship yielded plenty of public attention, to which Kristen added, "When I was dating Rob, the public was the enemy and that is no way to live. It wasn't this grand statement, 'I was so confused! Now I've realized who I am!' I have not been struggling." As for why Kristen recently decided to publicly come out as gay, she replied, "It just seemed important and topical." Well said, Kristen.

Samuel L. Jackson Curses His Way Through the Internet's Most Burning Questions
After hearing the name Samuel L. Jackson, "giddy" probably isn't the first word that comes to mind ("motherf*cker" is probably higher on the list). Well, while sitting down with Wired recently, the Kong: Skull Island actor agreed to participate in their "The Web's Most Searched Questions" segment, and he's positively delightful. Since he's appeared in over 100 films after beginning his acting career in the early '70s, the internet is practically bursting with questions about him. He happily answers everything from "How did Samuel L. Jackson die?" to "What did Samuel L. Jackson engrave on his lightsaber?" (spoiler alert: something hilarious). 13 Little-Known Facts About Goldie Hawn
We all know Goldie Hawn for her infectious laugh, her unapologetic sense of humor, and her résumé stacked with iconic film roles, but there's a lot about the Hollywood family matriarch and Academy Award winner that you might not be aware of. From the career she might have had to why it took her and longtime partner Kurt Russell so long to get together, we've rounded up all the nuggets of trivia any Goldie fan should know.
- She almost ditched acting to be a country singer. Can you imagine a world where instead of filming movies like Overboard and Private Benjamin, Goldie was belting it out onstage at the Grand Ole Opry? In 1972, she recorded a country LP for Warner Brothers called Goldie, with the lead single titled "Pitta Patta." Although she had the help of country icons Dolly Parton and Buck Owens on the album, she ended up picking Hollywood over Nashville.
- "Goldie" is a family name. Yes, Goldie is her real name. The unusual moniker is a nod to her mother's aunt, which she discussed during her Inside the Actors Studio appearance in 2008.
- Her middle name is less unique. Her full name is Goldie Jeanne Hawn.
- She practically came out of the womb dancing. Goldie's love of dance started early thanks to the ballet and tap dance lessons she was enrolled in at 3 years old. By the time she turned 10, she scored a spot in the chorus of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo production of The Nutcracker.
- She dropped out of college. The future superstar majored in drama at American University, but it soon became clear that a traditional education wasn't for her. In a video for Oprah's Master Class series, Goldie revealed that her parents never minded her getting bad grades, because "they knew, basically, what my vocation was going to be early on."
- Her first onstage role was as Juliet in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In 1961 she got the role of Juliet in the Virginia Shakespeare Company's production of the legendary tragedy.
- She opened her own ballet school. By 1964, she was running and teaching in her own ballet academy in her hometown of Washington DC.
- Her aunt's nickname for her was "GoGo." While chatting with Hoda and Kathie Lee in 2014, she revealed that her grandchildren call her "GoGo," a nickname her aunt originally gave her (they call grandpa Kurt Russell "GoGee").
- "GoGo" coincidentally got her big break as a go-go dancer. The actress was originally hired as a go-go dancer on sketch comedy show Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In after dancing "in a cage, and on a pedestal" for a while in NYC. The job then eventually led her to more comedic roles in Hollywood.
- Her first husband was also a dancer. In 1969 Goldie married Gus Trikonis, who was one of the Sharks in West Side Story. They split in 1976.
- The start of her relationship with Kurt Russell was pure luck. The two first met on the set of The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band in 1968 when she was 21 and he was just 16, so nothing romantic happened. Luckily their paths crossed again when they played love interests in 1984's Swing Shift, and it didn't take long for a relationship to spark.
- She founded a charity dedicated to enriching childhood education. Goldie created The Hawn Foundation to help improve the academic lives of young kids after being "moved by statistics about the increases in school violence and bullying, youth depression, and suicide."
- She practices meditation. Although she identifies as Jewish, she owes her sunny disposition to meditation. "It's not the idea of a particular religion that's important," she told Prevention. "It's the development of a spiritual life."

Zendaya Found a Dress She Can Wear on the Red Carpet, Then Out to Dinner
When Zendaya steps out on the red carpet, she owns it. The 20-year-old star attended the 2017 Kids' Choice Awards wearing a silky, metallic dress, forest green heeled boots, and an embroidered choker. The dress was a sexy number (just look at the back!) yet still casual enough for the affair. It even matched the orange carpet. Dressed to impress, the star added another shining moment to her night when she took home Favorite TV Actress for K.C. Undercover. So, not only did Zendaya win an award, but she also found a dress she can re-wear post show - perhaps out to dinner or an afterparty?

1 Big Difference Between Riverdale's Jughead and the Comic Book Version
In the short amount of time Riverdale has been on TV, it has already garnered a widespread fanbase. Of course, with its juicy plots and stellar cast, it shouldn't really come as a surprise. Even though the series is based on the Archie Comics, it has certainly taken a much darker turn with Jason Blossom's murder mystery. While some stories have stayed the same, there is one crucial difference that has some fans upset: Jughead is not asexual. We're not going to lie, we are definitely shipping him and Betty, but we can't help but wonder what will happen with his character down the line.
Just because he's currently romancing Betty doesn't mean that he won't be revealed to be asexual in future seasons. Cole Sprouse, the actor behind the character, has even talked about the possibility during multiple interviews. "I personally would love to see that exploration," he told Emerald City. "But it seems to me that they [the writers] are not going to explore that angle." While he argues that it would be great to have that kind of representation on TV, he also points out that Jughead's asexuality has only been canon in one iteration of the Archie universe: Chip Zdarsky's recent story in Jughead No. 4, which just printed in 2016. We guess only time will tell.
Is Emma Watson Really Singing in Beauty and the Beast?
We're drawing closer to the release of Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast. In recent months, we've been spoiled with everything under the sun when it comes to the latest project. We've been treated to plenty of chill-inducing trailers, plus gorgeous pictures galore and a treasure trove of details. And, in an even more exciting development, we got our first listen to Emma Watson's singing voice. In situations like this, we know people will still ask whether or not Watson is actually singing. So, well, is she? We did a little digging and we have exciting news.
The short answer is yes, that really is Emma Watson singing. The actress opened up about the "terrifying" experience during a print interview with Total Film. "I sing, so that's really unexpected," she said. "I've never had to do that for a film role before, and I think people will be interested to see me do something very different like that . . . It gives me a different challenge, really." Disney corroborated the fact when they tweeted the aforementioned clip, a snippet from "Something There," saying explicitly that she's singing.

But wait, there's more! Not only is Watson using her voice for the movie, but there's also a chance her live vocals could be used in any of the various numbers. In a separate interview with Collider, Luke Evans shared a fun tidbit about the musical process. "We pre-recorded every [song], but some of us sang live on set as well, during the takes," he revealed. "We were mic'd, and they recorded that, and I think afterwards, in sound, they'll be able to chose whether the live version is better than the pre-recorded version." So there you have it. In addition to all her other magical skills, Emma Watson sings. You can hear her on the soundtrack, and when Beauty and the Beast hits theaters March 17.

9 Nonnegotiable Rules of Visiting a Newborn
Newborns are delicate creatures. Their moms even more so. Visiting the pair, no matter how closely related or emotionally tight you are with the new mom, requires sensitivity, planning, and adherence to a specific set of rules. This is not the time to show up unannounced, apologize for your coughing toddler, and request a cup of coffee. If you want to maintain your friendship or family bond - and ever be invited back again - follow these guidelines.
And if you're a new mom wondering worried about your loved ones' historic lack of boundaries, send them this list today!
- Schedule your visit in advance, and don't push if Mom's not ready for visitors. Every new mom is different, but most need some one-on-one time with their new addition before they are ready to introduce him or her to the masses. Respect that timeline, whatever it may be, and simply ask if they're ready for visitors. If not, check back a few days or a week later. When the answer's yes, suggest a few times that will work for you and let Mom decide what will work best for her.
- Work around Mom's schedule and be on time. New motherhood is an exhausting, sleep-deprived, overwhelming time. If you've been given the green light on a specific time to visit, it's important to remember that time was probably chosen carefully to fit in both Mom and baby's schedule, so be punctual. Not early, not late.
- Don't stay too long. Smart moms tell visitors in advance that they are only up for a short visit, but even if you're not given a specific window, you should plan on keeping your visit short and sweet. An hour is probably about right, unless Mom begs you to stay longer.
- Bring food. As a new mom, it feels almost impossible to shop, cook, or even feed yourself, so bringing along a meal - home cooked is fine, but a bag of sandwiches from her favorite takeout spot is equally acceptable - is a must. Just make it easy on her by not sending pans or Tupperware that need to be returned.
- Wash your hands and ask before you pick up the baby. No matter how irresistible that baby is or how recently you washed your hands before your arrival, just lather up when you get to her house. Also, remember that the baby literally lived inside Mom's body just days before and she's probably still feeling a bit possessive. Be respectful and ask if you can hold the baby. If after a few minutes Mom is looking uncomfortable and itchy to get her back, pass her back immediately.
- Offer to let Mom take a shower or nap. If you're close enough to Mom that she'd feel comfortable leaving you unsupervised with the baby, offer to take over for a while. A quick shower or nap can create a world of difference for a new mom. If she declines, however, don't push it.
- Just say "no" if Mom asks if you want anything to drink or eat. You are there to help and check in, not to be served. If you're really dying of thirst, get up and get that water yourself.
- Don't bring your kids, unless they're healthy and you asked in advance. You'll probably enjoy your visit a lot more if you don't bring your kids and can focus on Mom and baby, but if that's not a possibility, make sure you ask in advance. And if your kid wakes up with a fever or a wicked cough on the morning of your visit, reschedule. Also, remember that while you might be totally comfortable with your 6-year-old holding a newborn, that newborn's mom probably is not. Make sure your kids know and respect boundaries as well.
- Don't offer unsolicited advice. If Mom asks questions about breastfeeding, sleep schedules, or postpartum healing, of course, answer with your own experiences and advice, but if not, zip it. This time is about her, not you, so no matter how much her swaddle sucks, keep it to yourself.

7 Things I've Learned During Year 1 of Being a Mom of 2
My second-born is turning 1 in about a week (how'd that happen?!). It's undoubtedly been a roller coaster of a year, one that has somehow flown by, yet at many times felt never-ending, a strange state that I'm guessing is familiar to most moms. Looking at my now 27-pound (yes, he's huge) just-barely-a-baby baby, I'm feeling so many conflicted emotions: happiness that the days of extreme sleep deprivation are seemingly a thing of the past, pride in how much he's grown and developed, both sadness and relief that I'll never again have a little one that needs me as intensely as he has this past year, and mostly, joy that the little boy that he's becoming is mine. He's a keeper and not just because of his naturally happy, laid-back, loving disposition. I'm also grateful for the many, life-changing things that he's taught me during the last year. From the need to go with the flow to the unimportance of all that baby stuff, here are the most important lessons I've learned from the first year of being a mom of two.
- This too shall pass (and I'll forget how bad it was). With my firstborn, every difficult stage (sleepless nights, teething, breastfeeding) seemed eternal and almost impossible, but with my son, I've quickly realized that we'll be on to the next thing before I know it. So when my son decided he hated the car for the first three months of his life, I didn't stress like I would have with my daughter. I knew it was just a stage, and now I barely remember it. Motherhood is great that way.
- I can't do it all of the time, and I don't beat myself up about it. There are times when both my kids need something, and I have to choose who's going to have to wait (and most likely cry while doing so). This does not make me a bad mom, and my kids will continue to thrive.
- Each kid is totally different, so follow his or her lead. My son has never taken a bottle, slept his first five-hour stretch when we were still in the hospital, and is happy to play independently for stretches of time. My almost 4-year-old daughter required bribery to finally give up her bottle at well past 2, still gives us a 3 a.m. wake-up call a few times a week, and would prefer to never be in a room without at least two other people present and ready to entertain her. Those and the million other differences between my two kids have taught me that they come prewired with their own personalities and unique traits, and this fact is both humbling and somehow stress-relieving (i.e. their entire futures and mental states are not totally on my shoulders).
- When I need help, I have to ask for it. My daughter is the first grandchild on both sides, and I had no shortage of offers to help with her. This time around everyone's slightly older and a lot more tired, and I've had to be more vocal and resourceful. I no longer feel guilty hiring the occasional babysitter, dropping my kids off at the gym day care daily, or asking my parents to take the kids for an overnight or three. The time away makes me a better mom.
- You don't need every possible gadget to have a happy baby. Admittedly, when my son was born, I already had almost every imaginable baby item, all of which I registered for and received before his big sister was born. But I barely used the bouncer, the swing, the exersaucer, or the playmat with my son, sometimes because he wasn't that interested and other times because I remembered to pull them out of the basement too late. This taught me that all that stuff wasn't really necessary in the first place.
- Go with the flow or go crazy. I'm a pretty organized, scheduled person, but after my second was born, I realized that my kids' and my best days were often the ones when I had the least planned for us. Sure, I get my daughter to preschool and her swim lessons, I take them both to the gym and on countless errands, and I schedule playdates regularly, but I try not to plan too much for one day, and I also make sure we have days when we're mostly at home hanging out.
- I have to trust my gut, even if not everyone agrees. For my husband and me, two kids is our limit. We knew this even before I got pregnant with my son, and I made it official during his delivery. I've been a bit taken aback by how many people in my life were surprised by this, as if my decision to stay at home with my kids should also mean that I want a litter of them. But as I've learned with this decision and pretty much every other one I've made since having my son, if it works for my family and me, that's all that matters.

The Real Serial Killers Who May Have Inspired a Disturbing New Film
If the trailer for Hounds of Love is any indication, the new serial killer thriller is hard to watch. Set in the mid-1980s, the story follows a young girl in Australia who finds herself kidnapped by an unhinged and crumbling couple. Clocking in at under two minutes, the trailer's bubbling emotions, screams, and the visibly battered woman in it are enough to make your skin crawl. A quote from Variety's review says "brave audiences will be rewarded." On top of all this, there's something else about the film that makes it all the more chilling to consider: it's inspired by real events.
Director Ben Young hasn't been shy about the real-life source material that folded into his creative process. The filmmaker previously revealed that he read a true crime novel about female serial killers, and it led him to Hounds of Love. "It triggered a strong memory of fear from my childhood that was instilled by my parents as a result of crimes committed by a serial killer couple." This quote alone is enough to reveal where the idea for a murderous couple came from, but it also gives us a hint as to which real murder spree served as the inspiration. After all, Young hails from Australia, and there's one infamous serial killing couple that ranks as one of the most high-profile cases in the country's history. Their names were David and Catherine Birnie, and they murdered four girls in 1986.
Did the Birnies directly inspire Hounds of Love? The answer is complicated. All signs point to yes, but the creative team behind the film has been discouraging any comparison. The strange confusion started when the film was in production. Casting coordinator Maya Kavanagh posted a call for extras to act in a film set "in the summer of 1986." In real life, the Birnies kidnapped their last victim in November 1986, so it's hard to ignore the parallel. Here's where it gets weird: after this casting call inspired speculation about the Birnies, producer Melissa Kelly said Kavanagh got it wrong, and that "this film is not based on the Birnies. The story is inspired by a number of true crimes that happened in Australia and overseas, however, it is a work of fiction."
To add to the confusion, local talent manager Jacqueline Alliss reportedly said her client was in a film "about the Birnies" but later retracted her comment and said she was "incorrect." Whether or not the film will follow the true story remains a mystery, but the original crime itself is disturbing enough to bear recounting.
Recently, Australia's Channel Seven reported the facts of the crime during a show called Murder Uncovered. The couple reportedly stabbed, strangled, and beat four women to death in their house in Perth's suburbs before they got caught. The first victim was 22-year-old Mary Neilson, who was kidnapped on Oct. 6, 1986. David Birnie reportedly raped her repeatedly while Catherine Birnie watched. They eventually stabbed her in the heart and dumped her body in Gleneagles National Park. The couple followed the same modus operandi for the subsequent murders of 15-year-old Susannah Candy, 31-year-old Noelene Peterson, and 21-year-old Denise Brown.
Kate Moir, their last victim, was held at knifepoint and abducted on Nov. 9, 1986. She escaped less than 24 hours later. She was just 17 years old.
In February, Moir talked about the whole ordeal with Marie Claire Australia. After kidnapping her, the couple reportedly held a knife to her throat, bound her hands and legs, and threw a blanket over her. The next day, she escaped out the window while David Birnie was at work. She was interviewed by recent police academy graduate Laura Hancock, who was the only officer who believed her at first. It wasn't until Moir provided specific details, revealed she had left personal clues at the crime scene, and uttered the name "Birnie" that the police took her seriously. The couple was taken into custody shortly thereafter. They were sentenced to life in prison. David took his own life in 2005, but Catherine remains behind bars to this day.
If you want to learn more about the heinous crimes of the Birnie couple, check out the video below. Hounds of Love hits theaters on May 12.

3 New Faces Coming to Game of Thrones Next Season
With the race for the crown tightening on Game of Thrones, we've grown pretty accustomed to seeing the same faces and the same characters. Heading into the show's seventh (penultimate) season, though, has yielded a few interesting developments. We've gotten a bunch of exciting spoilers thanks to a recent onslaught of set pictures, and we're already spinning a handful of new theories that could predict what might happen. On top of all that, though, we've also received word of a few new cast members. Could we be meeting new, crucial characters in the episodes to come? Only time will tell. Let's go over the newest additions.
These Game of Thrones Audition Stories Will Make You Love the Cast Even More
By now, you probably already have your list of beloved characters from Game of Thrones, but do you know the stories of how your favorite actors ended up landing their roles? Some of them labored over their auditions like unsullied soldiers. Others - looking at you, Emilia Clarke - turned their tryouts into fun experiences. While we're waiting for more details about season seven, read on to see which cast members have the weirdest audition stories that will make you love them even more.
Why Game of Thrones Season 7 Will Be All About Jon Snow and Daenerys
If you're still upset about that melting-ice-block disaster and very delayed premiere date, we have some comfort to offer. While it's true that we have months to go until season seven, there's plenty of information out there to give us a sense of what's to come. After collecting data and perusing some wild theories, it seems pretty clear that season seven will heavily focus on two main characters: Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. How do we know? Let's cover all the hints we've noticed in the past year.
1. They're Finally Going to Meet in Person
Thanks to some exhilarating set pictures that hit the web at the end of last year, we found out some pretty huge season seven news: Jon Snow and Daenerys will finally meet in person. We don't know the circumstances of this moment, but both Tyrion Lannister and Ser Davos are there. This could be one of the biggest arcs of the season. Will the two team up to take down the Lannisters? Will Dany help fight the White Walkers?!
2. The New Poster Hints at A Song of Ice and Fire
In March we finally laid eyes on the first official poster for season seven. It's pretty simple, just a sheet of ice with flames layered on top. If you're familiar with the classic A Song of Ice and Fire theory, though, you'll know it carries a pretty heavy significance. The fact that the very first poster hints at this union means it will factor heavily into season seven.
3. Jon Is Likely About to Find Out He's a Targaryen
Jon Snow knows nothing (heh heh) about his parents by the end of season six, but that's definitely about to change. After all, Bran learns that Jon's mother is Lyanna Stark through one of his time-travel visions, and there are plenty of theories for how Jon could learn the truth. Once Jon learns he's the son of Rhaegar Targaryen, it'll make him that much more connected to Daenerys and all the more likely to seek her out. And with Daenerys aiming to take the Iron Throne from Cersei Lannister, this could get pretty crazy.
4. They Both Are About to Be Major Leaders
Speaking of Dany's bid for the Iron Throne, here's another reason Jon and the Mother of Dragons will be a big part of season seven. It's clear, at this point, that Dany is already a powerful ruler. Even without her seizure of King's Landing, she has clear power over the Dothraki Army, the Unsullied, Meereen, and the Iron Islands (granted, it's just an alliance with the Greyjoys, but still). Oh, and she has dragons. Jon Snow, on the other hand, has earned his keep as King of the North. These two are arguably the most formidable rulers in Westeros. That's a big deal.
5. Other Miscellaneous Hints From the Cast
Here's how we know sh*t is really hitting the fan because of Dany: cocreator D.B. Weiss confirmed it in a recent interview. "Once she gets on those ships and crosses West, that's when the clock on the end game starts ticking," Weiss told Entertainment Weekly. "When she gets back to Westeros, it's on. Her return is the first domino."
Good thing we've all got time to prepare ourselves; Game of Thrones will return on July 16.
John Cena and Nikki Bella Further Solidify Their Power Couple Status
John Cena and girlfriend Nikki Bella looked incredible when they attended the Kids' Choice Awards in LA on Saturday. The couple, who has been going strong since 2012, was all smiles as they made their way down the orange carpet. In addition to John hosting the Nickelodeon show, Nikki is serving as Extra's special correspondent. Talk about a power couple!
We caught up with John over the phone in January, and he revealed exactly how his friendship with Nikki turned into romance. "I was brave enough to be like, 'Hey, would you like to go to dinner with me tonight?' and she said, 'Yes.' I was overjoyed." John also admitted that "the day she said 'yes' when I asked her out on a date" was the moment he knew everything between them was about to change.
6 Things Models Always Do to Achieve Flawless Skin
If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing a model up close and personal, take our word for it: nearly every single one has flawless skin that looks like it's been photoshopped. But when we've asked these catwalkers what products they use in order to achieve complexion perfection, the answers have been impossibly simplistic. No peels or retinoids here - we've found that most models stick to the holy trinity of rosewater, Bioderma, and coconut oil.
Turns out, we were asking the wrong question - it's not what they use on their skin but what they do that keeps their faces fabulous. And who better to get the scoop from than a model-approved facialist? We asked Ildi Pekar, the esthetician of Lindsay Ellingson, Miranda Kerr, and Irina Shayk (just to name a glamorous few) what her clients do on the regular for glowing skin.

20 Things We're Not Telling Little Boys - but We Should
We are familiar with the pressure and obstacles that young girls have to face in today's society - body image, rape, princess culture - but with boys, most of their struggles surround society's idea of what a "man" is like. YourTango shares 20 things we should start saying to boys to reinvent the idea of masculinity.
No, he doesn't need to "man up."
I thought it would be easier to raise a boy. Back when I was pregnant at 21, barely a woman myself, I anguished over the thought of having a daughter.
I didn't think I was ready to take on all that comes with raising a girl in today's society - the body image struggles, princess culture, rape culture. No, no, no.
A boy would be easier on my heart, I thought. Maybe he'd come home with a black eye, maybe he'd be rejected from a sports team, but it had to be easier than raising a girl. I was a girl; I understood the obstacles.
My wish was granted. A boy! And boy was I way off base. Turns out, raising kids of either gender has its challenges.
It only took about a year to realize that boys have a different kind of pressure weighing on their psyches, a different kind of expectation to live up to.
By the time he was 4 years old, my little boy (who, as a toddler, loved princesses, fairy wands, and My Little Pony) heard grown-ass adults say things like, "Boys don't play with pink," and, "Stop acting like a little girl."
He heard audible sighs of relief when he started his superhero obsession ("Oh, he's a normal boy!"). He heard the phrase, "Man up!" more times than I ever wish a little boy would hear.
A girl who rolls with the boys and plays sports is celebrated for her strength - "Stop telling little girls they're pretty," we all scream loudly - but what about the boys who'd rather play quietly with dolls, who like the color pink, and who feel the need to cry every once in awhile?
We tell them to MAN UP. Toughen up. Stop being a sissy. Our boys hear these things, feel these things. I know my son did.
Where's the conversation on helping young boys be caring and sensitive without it being a statement of their sexual orientation? All children should be allowed to have emotions, not just children with a vagina.
Empathy, kindness, love - these aren't feminine qualities; they're HUMAN qualities, and important ones at that. Rather than teach our daughters to dodge sexual bullets and jump over societal roadblocks, why not teach our sons to help move those roadblocks out of the way?
To be respectful, kind, caring, sensitive, empathetic - these should be emphasized, not touted as signs of masculine weakness. Instead, we ridicule and emasculate our smallest boys; we make excuses for them. "Boys will be boys," we say, shrugging our shoulders.
Well then, maybe we need to redefine what it means to be a boy, a man. Maybe we should start saying these things instead:
1. There are many ideas of what it means to "be a man." But the true test of manliness is how you treat others, especially those smaller and weaker.
2. You aren't just a man; you're a human. And the most important qualities a human can possess are kindness, empathy, and a loving heart.
3. In many parts of the world, girls don't have the same rights as boys. This isn't fair, but it's important to recognize the inequity.
4. It might not be fair that men hold such power in the world, but it's our reality. And like Spider-Man says, "With great power comes great responsibility."
5. It's OK to cry, to be sensitive, to feel. This is what makes you human.
6. I can handle your tears and vulnerability without cringing from the social pressures around me. Having a little boy can challenge our ideas of masculinity on a subconscious level, and we have to be honest about that - about our fears, our stereotypes - if anything is going to change.
7. There are no "right" ways for boys to act or "right" ways for girls to act. These are social constructs, and social constructs are largely bullsh*t. Be you. Be good. Be respectful.
8. It's OK to feel the need to be physical; it's hardwired into your DNA. It's also OK to shy away from violence. Gender has a spectrum, just like everything else in life. Find healthy outlets for your physicality, rather than suppressing and demonizing it.
9. Masculinity isn't something you have to prove, not ever. Femininity isn't something to avoid or ridicule. Although there are obvious biological differences between boys and girls, we all deserve respect. You're capable of treating people, all people, with compassion and respect.
10. When someone says "no" or "stop," you listen, especially if it concerns someone else's body. You aren't entitled to put your hands on anyone, and you should expect the same in return. "No" isn't a bad word; it's an important word.
11. It's OK to feel angry. I can handle your anger. I can hear about your dark thoughts without judgment. I can see that your anger is coming from a deeper hurt, and that it might be easier to express it in the form of aggression. Find the sadness. Find your vulnerability. It's OK.
12. You aren't defined by your gender role or cultural expectation. It's easier for society to lump us into categories with neat and tidy distinctions. In reality, life doesn't have such clear boundaries.
13. You also aren't defined by your clothes, car, bank account, muscles, or girlfriend (or boyfriend). You're defined by your character.
14. If you fall in love with a boy, it's OK. I just want you to be happy and at ease with who you are.
15. The key to getting the date? Confidence and self-respect.
16. Speaking of self-respect . . . If you have to convince someone to date you, then he or she isn't the right person for you. If he or she starts playing games, is at all unsure or wishy-washy, then walk away. The best kind of relationship is the kind where both people are equally excited about it. You deserve more than lukewarm uncertainty, no matter how good-looking he or she is.
17. It's normal to masturbate; it's not dirty or sinful. But it's also a private act, so take it to the bedroom, and close the door behind you.
18. There's a strong social and emotional component to sex, and oftentimes girls feel it more strongly than boys. Be aware of it. They won't teach you that in sex ed, but it's true.
19. Your penis will be a big deal in your life; take good care of it. It'll want to be in the driver's seat from time to time, controlling what you say and do. Remember: YOU are in control of your actions.
20. Be vulnerable. Be open. It might feel scary to be vulnerable, especially as you get older. The cultural stigma can feel heavy, like a weight dragging you down. But as scary as it is, being open to hurt, failure, and uncertainty is the only way to be fully open to love, to take big risks, and to engage your humanity.

How Sansa Has Been Becoming Her Mother, Catelyn, on Game of Thrones
Sansa Stark finally comes into her own in Game of Thrones season six. After year upon year of Sansa being victimized, she is finally the victor. After escaping Winterfell at the beginning of the season and rallying Jon Snow, much of the North, and then Littlefinger to take back her home, Sansa finally gets her revenge against Ramsay Bolton. Watching hungry hounds devour her sadistic husband would be satisfying enough, but there's a greater win here: Jon and Sansa are back at their rightful home in Winterfell. It feels right in so many ways, but there's another wrinkle you can't help but realize, if you've been watching this show from the beginning: Sansa is turning into her mother, Catelyn. It may be a thing that all women fear, but for Sansa, there are few female role models she'd be better off emulating. It's almost like Catelyn has been reborn (sorry, Lady Stoneheart fans), so let's go over all the ways Sansa Stark has actually been turning into Catelyn.
Her General Strength
Strength has never been Sansa's, well, strength - not until now. But it's a defining characteristic of Stark matriarch Catelyn when we meet her in season one. She's Ned's equal, and when Ned has to go off and fulfill his role as the Hand of the King, she secretly travels to King's Landing, then takes Tyrion prisoner, then leads her son's army as his adviser. She's not just someone's wife, content to stay behind and run the homestead. When we meet a young Sansa in season one, that probably would have been her main goal in life: be married off to the prince, and make a lovely home. But fate had other plans for Sansa, and thankfully, she starts following her mother's example.
Her Battle Smarts
Remember how Catelyn was Robb's most trusted adviser when the then-living King of the North was plotting his attacks? Catelyn patiently listened to Robb's ideas, then would basically step in to correct and advise his plans. Her specialty was giving the more pragmatic advice - the kind that was never sexy to Robb, but made the most sense in the long run.
Sansa has assumed that same role for Jon, though more gradually. While she incites Jon to attack Ramsay at Winterfell, she's on the sidelines while the men plot their attack the night before. That is, until she gets Jon alone and tells him his plan is flawed, and he should be getting advice from her. I mean, she doesn't really have specific advice at this time, other than telling him that Ramsay is way worse than anything Jon is expecting. But she's trying - and asserting herself as someone whose brain needs to be taken seriously.
That Catelyn pragmatism shows up in Sansa when she reaches out to Littlefinger as a last resort. She doesn't share her backup plan with Jon, but she is wise enough to know they need one, when Jon arrogantly thinks that his little army can defeat Ramsay's. If it wasn't for Sansa, there would have been no victory.
Notably, the men both ignore the biggest piece of advice they're given from the Stark women (Robb still marries Talisa and pisses off Walder Frey, Jon falls right into Ramsay's trap of Rickon-bait), who end up being tragically right. But at least Jon lives to tell the tale.
Her Alliance With Littlefinger
It's clear that Littlefinger's devotion to Sansa is because she resembles her mother, and it's creepy and uncomfortable. However, Sansa at least has figured out how to take advantage of it, at least for now. (Next week, it looks like he'll be trying to make the partnership romantic. Ew.) Though we can thank Sansa and Littlefinger's alliance for saving Jon's army at Winterfell, though, trusting Littlefinger is exactly where Cat had gone wrong in season one. Is Sansa making the same mistake, or will she ultimately be smarter than Cat?

Chrissy Teigen Opens Up About Postpartum Depression and the Delay of Her Next Cookbook
While Chrissy Teigen's biggest food fans are patiently awaiting the arrival of the Cravings author's second cookbook, the model has opened up about why the book has been postponed. In an essay about postpartum depression in Glamour, Chrissy opens up about her struggle to come to terms with the physical and emotional pain she was experiencing. John and Chrissy's adorable baby Luna was born in April 2016, and Chrissy was diagnosed with postpartum depression and anxiety around the time of the holidays months later. That's about the time that she started developing her second cookbook, too.
"I didn't have an appetite. I would go two days without a bite of food, and you know how big of a deal food is for me," Chrissy writes. In addition to sharing her personal experiences with unhappiness and figuring it all out, Chrissy mentions how her depression affected the process of writing her new cookbook and shares that she had to postpone it.
"I had to postpone my second cookbook, but my editor, Francis Lam, and publisher couldn't have been more understanding. To go from discussing layouts and recipes and shoot days to a complete 'off' switch was, I'm sure, not a great thing to hear. But, again, I cannot overstate how lucky I am to work with these people."
Chrissy admits the recipe-developing experience was a lot different the first time around, saying, "With the first, I was in the kitchen the whole time. I stirred every pot, tasted everything. Had genuine excitement for Every. Single. Recipe. This one came at the height of my losing my appetite, and the idea of having to test and taste recipes actually made me vomit. I was still on the couch a lot."
While we know Chrissy Teigen's second cookbook will undoubtedly be as amazing as the first based on sneak peeks she has shared, it's important that Chrissy does it on her own time and takes care of her own health first. You can read the full essay in Glamour's latest issue, on newsstands March 14.

Photographic Evidence That Jack Doesn't Die on the This Is Us Finale
Ever since we learned Jack is dead in the present day on This Is Us, we've been reeling with theories about how and when he dies. The penultimate episode of the season strongly hints that Jack will die in a car accident, as we see him leaving a bar (drunk) and climbing into his car to see Rebecca, who is performing two hours away. In the present day, Kate tells Toby that Jack's death is her fault, which fits in with the narrative the writers have set up; it's Kate that tells her father he needs to set things right with her mom. So . . . he's about to die, right?
Wrong.
Here's the problem: NBC has already released photos from the season finale, "Moonshadow." In one picture (above), Jack is seated on the couch in the Pearsons' living room. The sun is shining through the window, and though he's disheveled, he's wearing the same clothes as he's wearing when he drives away from the bar to go see Rebecca. Jack survives the night! Whether he realizes that two hours is too far to drive or gets pulled over by the cops, Jack doesn't die that night.

Game of Thrones: Will Season 7 Cover Any Material From the Books?
We're already salivating over each and every detail that comes in about Game of Thrones season seven, but one thing that's nearly impossible to forecast? The plot. Fans of the books are well aware that season one roughly covered the material in the first book of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, A Game of Thrones. Season two corresponded to A Clash of Kings, and seasons three and four covered A Storm of Swords. Seasons five and six included some plotlines from A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons, along with stories that aren't covered in the books, i.e. original material. This leaves us with the upcoming seventh season.
Martin has not released The Winds of Winter, the next book in the series. In fact, we don't even have a firm release date. The only information we have is the title, and the title of the following book, A Dream of Spring. That means we're pretty much in the dark when it comes to storylines. For now, we can just speculate based on what the cast has said and the leaked set pictures.

Happy Birthday, Carnivores - Japanese Meat Cakes Were Created Just For You
If your three main food groups are red meat, poultry, and fish, and the idea of a "sweet tooth" is foreign to you, then we have an idea for your next birthday.
