What Does Kate Middleton Do With All Those Flowers?
One of the best things about Kate Middleton's royal walkabouts is getting to see her interacting with the people - both children and adults seem to soak up the duchess' sweet energy and don't hesitate to greet her arrival with cheers, homemade signs, stuffed animals, and flowers. If there's one thing you can expect from a Kate Middleton appearance (besides seeing her being supercute with kids) it's that you'll get to see her accept bouquet after bouquet from her well-wishers. Most recently, while wrapping up her royal tour in Canada, Kate even got her 1-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte in on the fun, letting the little one hold and sniff a bunch of roses from a young boy.
Kate has said that the rest of her family teases her for spending "far too long chatting," during her public appearances, but it's one of the things we've come to love most about the duchess. While she never turns down a pretty bunch of blooms, we do have to wonder: what does she do with all of them? Typically, she will hand them back to staff members walking through the crowd with her, and they often end up going to churches or charitable organizations - though we wouldn't be surprised if Kate keeps some florals for herself every once in a while.
If You Find a Tick on Your Skin, Do This Immediately
The risk for Lyme disease is expected to be especially high in 2017, which is horrible news if you're the outdoorsy type. Blacklegged ticks, also called deer ticks, are the ones to watch out for since they carry the Borrelia burgdorferi bacterium, which causes Lyme disease.
Before heading outside, you can help prevent getting a tick by keeping your skin covered. Wear high socks and leggings and fitted long-sleeve shirts. The CDC recommends using bug spray that contains DEET on your clothing to deter ticks. After being outside, take a shower and inspect your skin for ticks - especially under the arms, behind the ears, the backs of the knees, between your legs, around your waist, and even in your belly button. If the tick is removed within 24 hours, your chance of contracting Lyme disease is pretty small so here's what to do if you discover an embedded tick.
- Get it out: Remove the tick using clean, fine-tipped tweezers, grabbing underneath the head of the tick as close as possible to your skin so you can remove the mouth of the tick. Do not squeeze the body of the tick, or twist or pull too fast - it'll cause the tick to spew back the contents of its stomach into your skin, putting you at greater risk of being exposed to the infections its carrying, including Lyme disease. If you can't get the head out of your skin, just leave it as is, and let the skin heal.
- Get rid of it: Submerge the tick in rubbing alcohol to kill it, then flush it down the toilet.
- Wash it: Clean the affected area of your skin with soap and warm water, rubbing alcohol, or iodine.
- Watch it: Symptoms of Lyme disease can occur three to 30 days after the bite so over the next few weeks, watch the infected area for signs of a round, red, "bull's-eye" rash. Only 70 to 80 percent of people with Lyme disease will get this classic symptom, so be sure to look for other signs including headache, high fever, severe neck stiffness, joint swelling or pain, dizziness, or heart palpitations.
- Get tested: If you have symptoms, make an appointment with your doctor to get tested for Lyme disease, to see if antibiotics are necessary.

Once upon a time (OK, two weeks ago), I threw my lace underwear, padded t-shirt bras, and bralettes in with the rest of my laundry. This is how I have done the wash for all of my life, or since my mother taught me "the rules" and I ran off to college. Ed Sheeran Will Guest Star on Game of Thrones Season 7
Here's your WTF news of the day: Game of Thrones has tapped none other than Ed Sheeran to be a guest star in an episode of the upcoming seventh season. Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss announced the big news during an appearance at Austin's South by Southwest Film Festival on Sunday, saying that star Maisie Williams's love of the singer-songwriter was the reason behind it. "For years we were trying to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie, and this year we finally did it," Benioff told the crowd.
Although Sheeran might be the biggest name Game of Thrones has snagged for a cameo, he won't be the first famous musician to take a walk through Westeros. Bands like Sigur Rós and Mastodon have popped up, as well as Coldplay's Will Champion and Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody. "A lot of [musicians] say they would like to [be on the show], and then we tell them [shooting a scene] is so boring," Weiss explained. "'You're gonna hate this - you're going to be sitting around three days for 12 hours a day.'" Sigur Rós's Jónsi Birgisson, for instance, thought he was done with the band's season three scene at Joffrey's wedding once they'd gotten a close-up of him, until he found out he had to stay on for another few days as a background actor. Luckily Weiss added that "He was a super good sport about it."

The Proper Play Date Etiquette Every Mom Should Follow
Play dates are ostensibly one of the most fun parts of parenting, right? You get to have some adult conversation with a fellow mom while your kid enjoys a couple of hours with some new toys and a similarly aged playmate - or, even better, you get to drop off your child to mess up someone else's house while you wander Target blissfully alone. However, play dates also come with their own set of rules, for both moms and kids.
Of course, we should all talk to our children about respecting other people's homes and personal items and about expressing thanks when someone hosts them. We should set expectations that they use their best manners and play nicely with friends. But play date etiquette isn't just about our kids' behavior; moms also have a set of rules they should follow.
Here's how to make sure you and your child are asked back after your next play date.
- Don't be the mom who never hosts. Just as before kids you didn't want to be the one who always asked a friend to meet up without her ever reciprocating, play dates should also be a back-and-forth situation. If you're the mom who always drops your child off at a friend's house without ever inviting that friend to yours, you are definitely putting that budding friendship in jeopardy.
- Limit the play date's time based on the children's ages. A baby play date usually starts going south in about an hour, toddlers can handle two, and bigger kids can handle slightly more time. Just make sure all parents are in agreement about how long this play date should last before it starts.
- Send snacks with your kid if they have dietary restrictions. I've yet to host a play date where the kids didn't ask for a snack (or five), so if your child has a gluten, dairy, or any other type of allergy, make sure that the host knows about it, and, even better, send along appropriate snacks so that mom isn't searching her cupboards for something to feed your kid.
- Communicate with the other parent about whether they'd prefer you stay or drop off. Around age 5, play dates tend to be a primarily drop-off situation, unless you're such good friends with the other parent that you guys are also excited for your own play date. Regardless, communicate with the other parent to make sure you're both on the same page about whether you will go or stay. Otherwise, you might find yourself in an awkward situation where you're expecting to come in for coffee and she's not ready to entertain.
- Don't get too judge-y about food or screen time. One hard-and-fast play date rule: do not impose your household rules on anyone else's home. Your child doesn't eat junk food or watch more than 10 minutes of TV a day? Well, that's at your house and expecting anyone else to abide by that rule is a surefire way to not get a second invite. Instead, understand that a little break from the rules won't hurt your child and learning that every family is different is actually a good thing for them.
- Follow up with the parent if their child did something wrong or worrisome. If you're hosting a play date where the invited child acts inappropriate, it can be awkward. Is it really your place to discipline someone else's kid? The answer: kind of. If it's a small infraction, deal with it at the time and keep it to yourself. If, say, the child is physically violent or has excessively misbehaved, tell the other parent about it in a straightforward, non-judgmental way.
- Express thanks and offer to help clean up at pick up. Anyone who's hosted a play date for little children knows that it can be a lot of work - and that your house usually looks like a bomb went off at the end of it. Therefore, it's important to say a big "thank you" to the hosting parent and offer to spend a few minutes with the culprits (I mean kids) picking up the worst of the mess. They might or might not take you up on it, but they'll appreciate the offer nonetheless.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is such a proud mom. During the NCAA tournament on Thursday, the actress couldn't help but film her son, 19-year-old Northwestern University basketball player Charlie Hall, as he played against Rutgers University. Not only did she whip out her phone like Mrs. George in Mean Girls, but she also got adorably nervous as he dribbled the ball and caught a rebound.
