First rule: don't use nail polish remover on wood. It actually ruins finishes and leaves new, maybe even worse looking, stains. Don't panic, though, because there's actually a really easy way to fix the polish-on-wood problem. Just spritz your polish puddle down with plenty of hair spray (we use Aqua Net), let it sit for about 20 seconds, and then wipe it off. You might need to repeat the process a few times, but it's far, far preferable to having splotchy furniture.

Nail polish remover can interact with some dyes and fabrics (it'll actually melt acetate), so perform a spot test before you use it. Dry cleaning solvent can also usually remove polish, so if you can't get it out at home, don't be afraid to run it down to your cleaners.

The food you serve on your plate certainly makes an impact on weight. However, research from Cornell University also suggests the color of your plate can make a difference on how much you eat. Researchers found when study participants ate off same colored plates as their food, they served themselves about 30 percent more food. When study participants ate off different colored plates than their food, they served themselves less food. This difference in how much you eat off of plates could help or hinder weight-loss efforts.
Want to take it a step further? Contrasting plates with the tablecloth also seemed to further help lower food intake. Other studies have suggested blue plates could help lower food intake. This is probably because the vast majority of foods are not blue, meaning no cravings in the brain are triggered.

What began as any mom snapping pictures of her daughters turned into an inspirational look at how strong girls truly are.
For Kate T. Parker, an Atlanta-based photographer who was simply trying to capture scenes of everyday life, she noticed that the candid images were changing before her very eyes.
"I started to see patterns and recognize that the images where the girls were authentically captured were the strongest images," she told us. "The images that showed the girls as they genuinely are were my favorites. After seeing this, I started to shoot with that in mind."
Now, her "Strong Is the New Pretty" photo series - which is also a new book and showcases her two young daughters along with their friends - is a breath of fresh air for those in praise of girls being loud, dirty, competitive, fearless, and strong. "I wanted to celebrate these girls as they are, not how females are expected to be," Parker told us. "The project became about capturing my girls as they truly are. I wanted to let my daughters know that who they naturally are is enough."
With so much pressure on girls - and women - to look and act a certain way, we applaud Parker's photo series and hope it encourages everyone to capture such images.
As she said: "I wanted to celebrate them, just as they are, and show them that is enough. Being pretty or perfect is not important. Being who they are is."

Here's how it works: you must have both the Dunkin' Donuts app and Waze downloaded (and be a DDPerks member). Open Waze, search Dunkin' Donuts, and choose a location. The Surprising Truth About Refrigerating Butter
One of the most heated debates in the kitchen is whether or not you should refrigerate butter. Some people cringe at the thought of leaving butter on the countertop, while others swear there's nothing worse than cold, hard butter straight from the fridge. It's an understandable question with an even more complicated answer. The short answer? It's OK to leave it out - with some restrictions.
While butter is a dairy product, it's mostly fat, meaning that it's less susceptible to bacteria. Salted butter is even less prone to bacterial growth than unsalted butter because of its sodium content, so the shelf life of the two types of butter is slightly different. When it comes to leaving butter out of the fridge, the first important rule is that it should be kept in a butter crock or a similar airtight container. If butter is exposed to air, it spoils much more quickly. When properly sealed in the container after each use, salted butter sitting out in a crock will last about two weeks, according to Organic Authority. If room temperature in your kitchen reaches above 70°F, however, it's best to refrigerate ASAP. But unsalted butter is best left in the fridge at all times.

10 Influencers Just Designed New MAC Lipsticks - and They're Not What You'd Expect
If you take a look back at MAC's collaboration histories, you'll see that among big names like Lady Gaga and Zac Posen are up-and-coming artists, be they in the fields of fashion, music, or makeup artistry. That's why I wasn't surprised that when the brand announced its upcoming 10-piece lipstick collection designed by influencers (which POPSUGAR exclusively revealed earlier this year), MAC's team had selected a healthy mix of 10 world-famous and under-the-radar beauty pros.
According to Catherine Bomboy Dougherty, the senior vice president of public relations at MAC, that progressive attitude is in the very foundation of the brand. "It's what MAC was built on," she said in an interview with POPSUGAR.
The ideology of "all ages, all races, all sexes" is built into MAC's credo, but I'd believe that "all things chic" is written between the lines of that mission statement. I went on a press trip to MAC's official labs in Toronto to meet them and witness the creation of their bespoke lipsticks, so I can vouch that the 10 influencers selected exude an effortless sense of cool. But more importantly, they really know what they're talking about when it comes to makeup.
I viewed all the different levels of the formulation process, which included mood boards, essays about the ideal color, and hand-mixing pigment in a cosmetic chemist's lab. Each person creating their own lipstick was absolutely fastidious, often adjusting tones by practically invisible fractions to craft their perfect shade.
The perfect shades themselves surprised me. All but one of the influencers created their own variation of nude lipstick. The outlier chose red, which she would have liked to name Vic Woo (a combination of her own name and the iconic MAC Ruby Woo lipstick). I had expected the punchy, rainbow hues that many of them wear on their social channels, but when it came down to it, they simply wanted their neutral lipstick dreams realized. I totally respect this. The tones shifted from deep to light, cool to warm, and matte to sheer. While some may look similar to the naked eye, I saw firsthand that many of the amateur chemists had women of a wide range of skin tones test out their shade as they mixed them. It was clear that they wanted their formula to work well on a variety of skin tones.
"That's one of the reasons why we have such amazing respect for them," said Bomboy Dougherty. "They are really well-versed on the products, the textures, the finishes, the ingredients, the undertones." She laughed as she added, "I felt like when we were working with these people that some of them know our product better than we do sometimes."
That understanding of MAC formulas comes from the influencers' long relationships with the products, be they personal or professional. A lot of them started out as makeup artists before shifting their attention to social media. In fact, Samantha Ravndahl - known as @ssssamanthaa to her 2.4 million followers on Instagram - worked at a MAC counter in her early days of makeup artistry. "Our artists at the brand were so excited that we chose her," revealed Bomboy Dougherty. "She's part of that community and our artists internally really support that."
Sadly, you'll only be able to buy the colors made by your country's corresponding influencer(s). For example, if you're based in the United States, you will have shopping access exclusively to Gabriel Zamora and Laura Lee's lipsticks, while Brazilian MAC fans can just get Victoria Ceridono's shade. But believe me when I say that all 10 of these individuals are worth getting to know. Mom's "Biggest Regret" Is Not Being in Photos With Her Kids and Late Husband
It's a common sentiment to let go of the things you can't control in life, but one mom is urging other parents not to regret the things you can control following the death of her husband in 2009. Michelle Steinke, a fitness trainer, speaker, and founder of the blog One Fit Widow, took to her Facebook page to share with others her "biggest regret" because she doesn't want to see others make the same mistake she did.
"I suppose we all have regrets. We shouldn't, but we do," Steinke wrote. "One of my biggest regrets is that I wasn't in many photos. My self-hate and loathing kept me from taking photos of my babies and photos with the man I loved. Hindsight is always 20/20."
Steinke continued, noting that she can of course now pinpoint exactly why she was "stupid" for worrying about what she looked like in photos because her husband and children loved her regardless of her weight and appearance.
I can tell you now it was stupid. . . . I can tell you when he was gone and they started to grow I regretted not being in more photos and loving the life I was living when I was living it. . . .
The day he died, all I cared about was the memories we made, the trips we took and the photos of our whole family. I regret not being in the photos.
Perfection is a myth. Even after I lost 70 pounds and found my fitness, I realized I still was far from perfect. You can always work on improving yourself, but this moment will never come again. Don't waste it wishing you were more.
Steinke ended her post with an important message to others, especially moms: "You are enough, right now, right as you are. Take the photos. Love your life. Don't regret what you can control."

"Our April calendar features this photograph of His Majesty The King and His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, enjoying a special moment in the unexpected March snow with His Royal Highness The Gyalsey," they captioned the sweet shot. Just look at that little smile! Between this and his September calendar, our desks are going to look mighty cute for the next month. Dior's Newest "Squeezable" Mascara Is Basically Falsies In a Tube
I am no stranger to Dior's iconic range of mascaras. After all, I consider myself a lash junkie, and the highly-celebrated Diorshow formula has been a cult classic since 2002. But the brand's newest formula, Pump'N'Volume, romanced me like no other in the company's mascara lineup . . . and I daresay it's the best one to date.
You see, this product has a completely genius tube that hasn't been seen before stateside. (Amore Pacific Korea won an award for this packaging in 2015.) It appears like your everyday Dior mascara at first glance, but it features a silicone tube that can be gently squeezed. This allows users to "pump" the formula into the molded brush, boosting volume in an already intensely voluminous formula. (The idea was actually inspired by makeup artists: many pros working on set warm makeup between (or on!) their hands to make the product smoother and easier to apply.)
Not only is the tube badass, the actual mascara is impossibly amazing. I am annoyingly picky about lash formulas and this one has earned itself a permanent place in my rotation. Diorshow fans already know that even the skimpiest of fringes can be transformed into a lush rainforest of lashes with the product, but this one is on another level. The brush grabs and coats every hair, defining them without clumping. The formula dries fully - unlike some brands that leave lashes feeling slightly sticky - but never makes your fringe feel stiff. This allows for lashes that are densely voluminous yet still fluttery, like a strip of falsies.

The Lowdown on What Happens to Sasha in the Walking Dead Comics

Spoilers for the Walking Dead comics below!
The last few episodes of The Walking Dead have made it abundantly clear that Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) is in grave danger. After her mind-bogglingly stupid decision to try to barrel into the compound of Negan's Saviors solo went south, she was quickly captured by the terrifying leader. Will she make it out of The Sanctuary alive in the seventh season finale? Only time will tell, but until then, there's one place we can turn to to unearth a little bit more about the future of her character: the comics.
You might be surprised to know that Sasha, like Daryl, doesn't actually exist in the show's source material. Sasha's story does, however, closely align with the actions of Holly (a character of the same name briefly popped up in the show but is no more), as well as a few other minor characters. We first get a glimpse at references to TV Sasha with the character of Tyreese. He's her brother on the show, but in the comics, Tyreese has a daughter instead of a sister, and he's extremely protective of her. Unfortunately, she dies shortly after they arrive at the prison. Parallels have also been drawn between Sasha and Andrea, since the comic version of Andrea becomes an adept sharpshooter. For the most part, though, TV Sasha's trajectory mirrors Holly's story.
Just like Sasha, Holly gets romantically involved with the ill-fated Sgt. Abraham Ford, igniting a love triangle between her, the former sergeant, and a burned Rosita. Although Abraham dies from an arrow through the eye socket in the comics (aka the way Denise dies in the show) instead of being murdered by Negan, Sasha and Holly both find themselves mentally unstable in the wake of his death. Holly decides the only way she can now truly help the group is if she sacrifices herself for them and takes on Negan herself. She slams a bus through the gates of The Sanctuary in hopes that zombies will come pouring in through the hole and she'll die doing something worthwhile.
Holly survives, but because this is The Walking Dead and no one is allowed to be happy, she's almost instantly captured by Negan. To make matters worse, he's obviously not keen on the idea of letting her just walk out of The Sanctuary scot-free. After alerting Rick and the rest of Alexandria that he's holding Holly prisoner, Negan arranges a trade with the group. He returns Holly to her friends with a bag over her head, and Denise (who's still alive at this point in the comics) lifts it off her face. She realizes too late that Holly has been turned into a walker and gets bitten by her former friend. They both die in the ensuing struggle.

Her fate seems all but sealed, right? Well, as fans of the show can attest, there have been instances where characters have survived longer than their comic-book counterparts, so there might be hope for Sasha after all. Still, it's hard to deny how closely Sasha has been walking Holly's path of late. With the war between Rick and Negan on the horizon, only one thing is for certain: there's going to be a lot of carnage in our future.

Maxine Waters Shuts Down Bill O'Reilly's Comments About Her Hair in Epic Clapback
Internet citizens were up in arms this past Tuesday when Fox News pundit Bill O'Reilly mocked esteemed Congresswoman Maxine Waters's hair. During Fox & Friends, O'Reilly was shown a clip of Waters speaking on the House floor, only to remark, "I didn't hear a word she said. I was looking at the James Brown wig." While two of the cohosts of the show joined in on the tasteless joke, the third, Ainsley Earnhardt, found the comment disrespectful.
"You can't go after a woman's looks," she said to O'Reilly. He has since apologized for the racially charged quip, calling his comment "dumb" and noting that he respects Waters for being "sincere in her beliefs."
However, the representative for California's 43rd district proved in an appearance on MSNBC's All in With Chris Hayes that not only is she unfazed by the hateful comment, but she had a epic retort of her own.
"I am a strong black woman, and I cannot be intimidated," she said confidently. "I'd like to say to women out there everywhere: don't allow these right-wing talking heads, these dishonorable people, to intimidate you or scare you." She added, "Be who you are, do what you do, and let us get on with discussing the real issues of this country."
She went on to say that Bill O'Reilly (as well as former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes) has "no credibility," bringing up his "checkered past" and sexual harassment settlements.
Waters finished her empowering statement with a promise that she's not done standing up for what's right. "We know that when a woman stands up and speaks truth to power, there will be attempts to be put down," she said. "I'm not going to be put down, I'm not going to go anywhere, I'm going to stay on the issues."
Hillary Clinton acknowledged the controversy in her most recent speech, explaining how frequently women of color have a "lifetime of practice" dealing with indignities such as these. While Waters obviously shouldn't have to be putting up with racist remarks about her looks at all, she proves time and time again that she can shut them down and redirect the conversation back to politics.
In recent months, Waters has become not just a heroine but practically a beloved meme for her brusque honesty and unguarded facial expressions. We look forward to seeing how she continues to smash the patriarchy. Watch her phenomenal response in full below.

The girls, who are much younger than Elsa and Anna in the opening scene of the beloved movie, have completely memorized the clip and performed it for Colleen, who luckily taped it for all the internet to see.
It's safe to say that these girls could have a bright future in acting one day if they so choose. The level of accuracy with which these little babes physically reenact their favorite Frozen scene is actually amazing considering their ages, and we can't stop watching the sweet clip over and over. And we're apparently not alone, as in just four days the video has gotten nearly eight million views!
13 Reasons Why: Here's the Beautiful Song Playing at the Dance
The 13 Reasons Why soundtrack is a brilliant collection of songs, but there's one track in particular that will haunt you. It plays several times when the show flashes back to the school dance, as Clay and Hannah dance together. It's called "The Night We Met," and it's off Lord Huron's 2015 album Strange Trails. The melody is beautifully melancholic, and it's even more poignant when you consider the lyrics: "Take me back to the night we met / I don't know what I'm supposed to do / Haunted by the ghost of you / Take me back to the night we met / When the night was full of terrors / And your eyes were filled with tears / When you had not touched me yet / Take me back to the night we met." Netflix Is Purging a TON of TV in April
The time has come. Netflix has announced the titles it's pulling from its catalog in April, and it's a staggering list. There are a handful of movies leaving, but it's really the TV shows that have us devastated. Multiple seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Bones, House, M.D., and Ally McBeal will all disappear into the night. At least there are new shows and movies coming to comfort us, but this is still pretty depressing.

Dad's Chilling Reminder of the Importance of First-Aid Training For Parents
For any parents who have ever doubted the value of repeated, or even annual first-aid training, one dad is sharing a personal story that he hopes changes their mind.
The anonymous dad wrote on Reddit that his wife was running late one ordinary night. "The kids are losing their sh*t, so I had to get dinner on the table," he wrote. "It's leftover night and they didn't like what we had last night, so chicken nuggets and canned carrots it is."
After he served their dinner, he turned around to heat up his own meal. "It gets quiet as they chow, but I start to hear gurgling sounds; it's a sound I have never heard a human make before," he wrote. "I look over, my oldest is acting like he is going to toss his cookies, so I run him to the bathroom. I get him in front of the toilet and realize he isn't breathing."
The dad recounts how he slapped his son on the back a few times, but nothing happened and his son continued to choke. He switched to the Heimlich maneuver and on the third thrust, a chicken nugget popped out followed by a gasp as well as a wail. "My wife gets home a few seconds later, says I'm white as a ghost, and ask what happened," he wrote. "All those years of first responder and CPR training instantly became some of the [most] valuable training I have ever received."

Instead of having to suffer through the agonizing pain of childbirth, simply sleeping through it and waking up to find your newborn might sound like the ultimate dream to some moms. For Alice Payne, this was her reality.
After doctors didn't realize how far along Alice was during labor because of a malfunctioning machine, they gave the soon-to-be new mom some medicine to ease her pain, but they didn't realize she was just about 10 centimeters dilated. The medication caused Alice to doze off and by the time she woke up an hour later, her baby boy was almost completely born.
Alice told the Daily Mail that she was medically induced at 38 weeks for Philip's birth and that doctors were "amazed" to see her pushing the baby out while still napping. "Because the contraction monitor wasn't reading me properly, doctors didn't realize that I was as far along as I actually was," Alice said. "So I was given some drugs to let me nap for a couple of hours, but 30 minutes later they realized I was ready to push."
As doctors were injecting a hormone, Syntocinon, every 30 to 60 minutes, they were tracking her contractions with an attached monitor. However, the machine read that the contractions weren't intensifying, only fluctuating between 20 to 40 percent of her muscles engaged, so they continued to increase the amount of hormone injections. Since Alice was in such a relaxed state, she was almost rushed to an emergency C-section, but instead, the doctors, midwife, and nurse witnessed the "weirdest thing" that they had ever seen.
While remaining asleep, Alice's body responded to her husband's voice telling her to push. Incredibly, Alice only woke up for the last 10-15 minutes of the delivery and fell back asleep shortly after the baby was born. "Though I'm pleased I missed the pain of labor, I do wish I had been more present for my first baby's birth," Alice said. "Now when he's older and asks me, I'll have to tell him I nodded off."
