Gina Rodriguez Is Here to Kick the Gender Wage Gap's Ass
Before I even sit down on the couch next to Gina Rodriguez, she starts peppering me with facts about the wage gap. You see, an unkind, uneducated social media troll has just left her a nasty comment on Instagram saying that the wage gap doesn't exist, and she's had it. "Can you believe it?" she says, her own frustrated disbelief bouncing off the walls of the New York City hotel room we're in. I tell her that, unfortunately, I can. Right now women are typically paid 20 percent less than men, on average, even for doing the exact same job. It's a sad statistic that, as a young woman in the workforce, I've heard over and over again. Surprise, surprise, it doesn't get any easier to hear.
That's why the Jane the Virgin star has teamed up with Luna nutrition bars to fight for equality for women in the workplace. It's a topic she feels extremely passionate about, although she admits she's still learning. A lot of women might find themselves in the same boat - aware of a pay discrepancy between themselves and a male co-worker, but unsure of how to move forward or what action is needed to correct it - but Rodriguez is here to help anyone who wants to be educated.
As we chat in a room overlooking Trump Tower (the implications of which were not lost on me), the Golden Globe Award-winning actress and activist opened up about self-worth, empathy, and how women can take a stand.
POPSUGAR: There are many people in this country who deny that the gender pay gap even exists and dismiss it as a "myth." How do we even begin to communicate with or get through to those people?
Gina Rodriguez: I just wish I could talk to every single one. I'm not the kind of person who can ignore the negative. It stays that way if you don't touch people. Empathy won't exist if you're not like, "Hey, I'm here, I'm a human being." I'm still learning, because I don't know all the answers. I really don't. That's why this is so important to me! The gender pay gap in Hollywood was broken open in Hollywood a few years ago, since we had some really stellar women who weren't afraid to say, "Hey, I'm not getting paid as much as my counterparts." But this is happening across the board in every job, right? So when Luna came to me with this campaign, I was interested in it because at the time I found myself just so appreciative to be working. I was afraid to speak up, and I think a lot of women suffer from fear of being just so appreciative. Like, "I'm glad I have a job, I'm glad I'm here, I'm glad I can help support my family." Any riff-raff and I'm out, and I can't afford that. We are stronger when we come together. One thing that Luna does is champion and uplift women. We need to raise awareness for kids like this who will jump on my Instagram and say that the gender pay gap is a myth.
PS: How are you guys going about doing that?
GR: We're working with two organizations that specifically will help women get equipped with these kind of tools to help them have these conversations. I'm literally learning these myself, because for so long I was too appreciative to speak up, too scared. We're doing 20 percent off Luna bars to represent the 20 percent average pay gap, but also the American Association of University Women, who we're working with to donate and match up to $100,000 so that we can have salary negotiation workshops, because that's where you learn to have those conversations. Again, I'm learning how to have these conversations, because they scare me. They scare anyone. Just bringing them up makes people go crazy and get angry! It makes people get angry because that's what the truth does. The truth infuriates people. It can even infuriate me, because I don't always know the answer. We're trying to create solutions. We're also working with Lean In, which is a phenomenal nonprofit organization started by COO of Facebook Sheryl Sandberg, who's just a G. [laughs] She understands the necessity for women to have these communities so they can have these conversations, because they're terrifying.
PS: One reason for the gender pay gap is that women are far less likely than men to negotiate a higher salary or raise, usually because of self-confidence issues. Do you have any advice for female employees out there who are struggling with this and need encouragement?
GR: I think that because I don't have all the answers, AAUW and Lean In are going to be helpful for all of us. But I will say that it starts with self-worth, and it starts with self-love. That kind of confidence bleeds into every facet of your life. Not only speaking up for yourself for what you deserve in the workplace, but how you speak up in your own communities and your own friend circles, your relationship, your family . . . it's an important tool that I think is a part of this conversation. Even further than that, that self-love translates into supporting others. When you love yourself, it's very difficult to hate. When you uplift yourself and support the decisions you make, it's very easy to do that for other women. Little by little, support the women around you. Have these conversations that are difficult, learn new tools, and then teach someone what you've learned.
PS: I imagine that the set of Jane the Virgin, being such a feminist show, is a great work environment for women.
GR: It's fantastic. The women are very much cared for, and the men are cared for. There's very much an equal playing field on our set, and that's because it starts from the top down. It's Jennie Urman. She sets the tone, and the tone is treating everyone with respect and dignity, and being kind. There's no political totem pole. The PA is treated just like the producer is. There's respect because we all are needed to make that machine work. If you take out one piece, the machine falls apart. We're very conscientious of that, and our top-down environment supports that. You come on our set, and you feel that.
PS: Which is amazing. Unfortunately, so many other women face discrimination, harassment, and sexism at work, especially in industries that are predominantly male. If you could give one piece of advice to women working in hostile or unfair work environments, what would you say?
GR: Find your fellow women in that situation, and start creating a community and a voice together. Those are not easy things to be dealing with, so you don't want to deal with them alone. Find the people that are going to align themselves with you, that are going to be there to support you in this difficult journey. That is not an easy thing, and I send lots of prayers and love to the women who are going through that. That is not an easy environment, and sometimes it means taking yourself out of that environment. There's change to be made in that environment, though, which is the exciting part about it. If you are in a place where there is sexism or sexual harassment, or a very clear inequality, then that means that you get to be the superhero that helps change that. That's exciting! Not easy, but very exciting. It means you have an opportunity for growth, and if you can be that change . . . it's not easy, but damn is it fierce.

5 Reasons I Will Gladly Wake Up at Dawn to Run
At some point during a training cycle, a runner is inevitably asked the question, "You ran 10 miles on a Saturday morning for fun?" The question is obvious and simple. The answer may be not as simple. Is running really that fun?
Yes, if your idea of fun is setting your alarm clock at the crack of dawn to beat the Summer sun. It may sound ridiculous, but if you've ever finished a long run, you know that running, sometimes, is the greatest fun you've had when alone.
- If you like spending hours of alone time with nothing but your favorite podcast, an audiobook, or a killer playlist, then yes, running is fun. Whatever's weighing on your mind can be resolved with just an hour or two of alone time with your endorphins. Worried about a looming project at work or a difficult relationship? At some point during the course of your long run, the answer reveals itself. Always. Even if the answer is that you're too tired to spend any more effort worrying about the problem.
- If you like quality sleep, running is fun. Yes, runners set their alarm clocks on Saturday mornings to avoid whatever weather is coming in the afternoon, but those precious hours that they spend in bed are pure bliss. Their bodies and minds are better at soaking up quality shut-eye, and they know they need to prioritize getting seven to nine hours of sleep because their bodies need that time to repair whatever damage they've done to it in the predawn hours.
- If you love the chemical burst of endorphins hitting your blood stream, then yes, running is fun. Endorphins are better than any prescription antidepressant. If a runner is being honest, she'll probably admit that the first three miles of a long run aren't much fun. Getting acclimated to the route, getting your feet underneath you, and setting your pace can be challenging first thing in the morning. But once those endorphons kick in? That's why problems are easier to solve and running in the rain doesn't seem to be a big deal. When the endorphins hit, you feel unstoppable. That's fun.
- If you like eating half a pizza on a Saturday night, then yes, running is fun. Runners know that they can't afford to eat whatever they want most of the time. In fact, most of the time, their diets are pretty restrictive and a complex combination of what the experts say they should eat and what they know works best for their bodies. They know they can't overdo it on grease, fiber, or vegetables the night before their long run, but the night after the long run is pure freedom. If they've properly fueled all week long, then they can engage in one perfectly delicious post-long-run cheat dinner and still breathe easy when they look at their calories-in-to-calories-out ratio for the day.
- If you're into social media self-promotion, then running is great fun. Uploading after-run (or during-run, if that's your thing) selfies to Instagram complete with your mileage and pace for the day is shameless self-promotion, but it's hard earned and worth the "likes" that will start to flood your feed. Crossing a finish line and celebrating with your friends and family is the ultimate reward for the miles that you logged while everyone else was asleep. At some point during the training cycle, you actually even start to feel some sympathy for the nonrunners when you notice how many people tell you they wish they could run that far. That's fun.
So, is running fun? Maybe it's not fun when you're hunkered over your bathroom sink popping a blister or watching the clock come to a complete stop when you're sitting in your post-long-run ice bath. Maybe it's not fun when you order lean protein and whole-wheat bread while your friends load up on happy-hour treats the night before your long run. Or when the alarm clock goes off on a dark, Summer morning before dawn. But all things considered, running can be the most fun part of your life.
How You Can Help Syrians Caught in the Crosshairs of a Tragic Civil War
Update:
Since December, when the United Nations described the situation in Aleppo as "a complete meltdown of humanity," the conflict in Syria between rebel forces and President Bashar al-Assad has spiraled into further calamity. On April 4, Syrian forces reportedly dropped sarin gas on civilians in the rebel-held area of Idlib. While the attack certainly occurred, killing at least 70 people, including children, the Syrian government has denied its involvement and blamed rebel forces. The United States government suggested otherwise in a statement. Below is a list of nonprofits you can donate to or volunteer with who are directly assisting innocent civilians caught in the crosshairs of this tragic civil war.
Original Story:
The conflict between progovernment militia and rebel forces in Aleppo has taken a devastating turn. On Dec. 12, a United Nations human rights office confirmed that at least 82 civilians were killed by Syrian troops as they closed in on what was formerly the nation's largest city. As activists and civilians tweet their final messages from the besieged city, a UN humanitarian spokesperson, Jens Laerke, referred to the dire situation as a "complete meltdown of humanity."
To briefly contextualize Syria's current political climate: Syria has been in the midst of a civil war for five years, one that was triggered by the Arab Spring in 2011.
Russia has gotten involved at the behest of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who is one of Russia's most important international backers. As a result, Russian forces have been bombing rebel-held territories, claiming the attacks are targeting ISIS.
While millions have fled Aleppo since the civil war began, the remaining civilians are currently experiencing daily airstrikes and many have lost their lives in execution-style killings.
The UN Security Council is reportedly holding an emergency meeting on Dec. 13, and CNN's sources inside Aleppo also said a ceasefire and evacuation agreement has been reached. Apparently, civilians and rebels will begin evacuating the war-torn city as soon as the evening of Dec. 13 or Dec. 14. What's happening in Aleppo is cruel and overwhelming, but now is not the time to feel helpless. There are still ways you can help those affected. Ahead, we've listed some organizations that are focused on providing aid:
1. Doctors Without Borders
Doctors Without Borders provides medical assistance to war-torn countries. On Nov. 17, one of the organization's hospitals in Aleppo was hit by an airstrike and more than 20 workers and patients were killed. Despite the tragedy, many aid workers have remained in the city and will continue to help its civilians going forward.
2. The United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees
The UNHCR focuses on providing refugees across the globe with necessities such as hygiene kits, sleeping bags, and medicine. As of Dec. 12, the organization was distributing relief items to the thousands displaced from Aleppo.
3. The White Helmets
The Syrian Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, is made up of volunteers who search locations that have recently been bombed and rescue any trapped civilians. The brave group has saved more than 73,530 people from attacks in Syria. To donate, click here.
4. Oxfam International
Oxfam International is helping those affected by the Syrian civil war by providing showers, clean water, and toilets in refugee camps. It also provides refugees with medical aid, as well as legal counseling. To provide Oxfam with the urgent funds needed for Syrian refugees, click here.
5. Islamic Relief USA
Islamic Relief USA is a volunteer community that provides aid to those who need it regardless of gender, race, or religion. While it is a widespread organization that touches on many global issues, you can choose to donate to Syrian refugees in particular.
6. Planet Syria
If you don't have money to give, you can still help. Planet Syria is a nonviolent activist organization that seeks to spread information on Syria's current political climate and encourage peace talks. Its statement reads, "Slowly, with the support of our real allies, we hope to reconnect with the tolerance and coexistence we have known for millennia and build a Syria better than before." To stand in solidarity with Planet Syria, simply sign its statement and share it online to spread awareness.
The Real Reason the Queen Has 2 Birthdays
Image Source: Getty / WPA Pool
This month marks Queen Elizabeth II's 91st birthday, an event she'll celebrate with a string of engagements near one of her homes, Windsor Castle, in England. But if you're the monarch of England, you don't get just one birthday: you get two. In addition to commemorating her actual day of birth in April, Queen Elizabeth is also treated to a massive national celebration in honor of her special day every June. The hard-working queen, who rings in each new year with family, tends to take her birthday off.
The summertime celebration, though, is a bigger party. The June event is referred to as The Trooping of the Colour, an annual parade in London in which troops from the queen's Household Division parade on horses down London's Whitehall Street. There is music, and the queen conducts an inspection of the troops. The date changes depending on the year's calendar; in 2016, Queen Elizabeth's official birthday is Saturday, June 11.
There is a long tradition of monarchs celebrating their birthdays in the Summer. The date in June is usually selected when there's a better chance of good weather, something the Brits appreciate greatly during the warmer months. So all you have to do to celebrate your bithday in a socially acceptable manner? Be queen.

Melania Trump's Outfit Has More Than a Few Similarities to Queen Rania's
Days after Melania Trump raised some eyebrows with her official White House portrait, she stepped out to meet Queen Rania of Jordan in a more demure dress. Melania chose a structured emerald number with long sleeves while its hem, with a middle slit, hit at the knees. As she walked side by side with Queen Rania through the White House grounds, we noticed that the two actually (sort of) wore the same outfit.
They both opted for a skinny belt to cinch in their dresses and wore classic closed-toe pumps. Though Melania wore black heels to match her waist accessory, Queen Rania took a bolder route with white pumps to match her dress's collar. Her ensemble was as sophisticated as it gets, something we've come to expect from the royal. While the two ladies talked confidential business, their outfits spoke volumes all on their own. Um, 13 Reasons Why's Katherine Langford Is an INCREDIBLE Singer
Don't even pretend you haven't been Googling the hell out of the cast of 13 Reasons Why. I have too, and that's how I stumbled into something amazing. Katherine Langford, aka Hannah Baker, has an old YouTube channel with three videos uploaded to it. They're all original songs about her friends and relationships, and of course she has a freakin' INCREDIBLE voice. Honestly, she should have contributed to the soundtrack! She's even playing the piano in the videos, which you can check out now. We'll be watching them all again as we ponder how one person can have so much talent.
Mom's Hilarious Photo Puts an End to Obnoxious Questions About Her Twins
"Oh, are those twins?!"
"Uh, yes, those two same-sized babies in my stroller are, in fact, twins. For the thousandth time." That's what Australian mom Annie Nolan was likely thinking when she drafted two signs answering 12 of the most-asked, most obnoxious questions she's gotten about her 2-year-old twin girls, Delphia and Cheska.
Although she didn't dare keep the signs affixed to her stroller while out and about, she did snap a photo to share on Facebook.
"As a twin mum, you get asked a series of questions [or] hear a series of statements every time you go out," she wrote on her Facebook post. "I know most people are coming from a great place and are just curious, however many can be quite intrusive and after a while it's just plain exhausting. And since I was heading into the city, I knew the questions would be coming thick and fast . . . but I chickened out on the train and took them off!"
Nonetheless, it seems people got her message. The photo has gone viral and has 23,000 "likes" and counting.
Still, we think that she should keep saying this the next time someone asks if those babies are twins:

The 1 Genius Decorating Tip Everyone Should Steal from RHOC's Heather Dubrow
Real Housewives of Orange County star Heather Dubrow's palatial mansion is filled with many over-the-top design elements that are far from feasible for the ordinary gal; her floating onyx bar, massive closet complete with it's own champagne door bell (we kid you not), and movie theater come to mind. And while we can only gape at those pricey features, Heather does have one elegant design ritual dwellers on any budget can get behind: she fills her entryway with a new display of fresh flowers each week. The fragrant seasonal blossoms set a welcoming tone, while the constantly rotating displays help prevent her home design from becoming stale.
In typical Heather fashion, her the flowers are from a swanky delivery service and are opulent enough to decorate the head table at a black-tie wedding - but you need only swap in a new simple grocery store bouquet every week to achieve the same results. You can even create depth to the look by breaking up the bouquet into multiple vessels arranged at different heights, like Heather does.
Check out the Bravo! star's stunning floral displays ahead. And remember, no matter how much you pay for your blooms or how you arrange them, the key is to make bringing them into your home a habit that you do consistently.
Sam Bee Demolishes Ivanka Trump With the Perfect Comparison: Game of Thrones
Ivanka Trump has officially joined her father's administration as an unpaid assistant and it's entirely unsurprising. What is a shock, however, is how Trump has attempted to ambiguously defend her position and criticisms about her inaction with lackadaisical rationale. Enter Samantha Bee, whose most recent evisceration of the president's daughter pulls absolutely zero punches.
Bee opens the diatribe by drawing on a quite apropos storyline that many will be familiar with: the Lannisters in HBO's Game of Thrones. "Her father already gave the hand of the king job to her husband Jared, right after he took President's Landing," Bee jokes. "So what king's body part will Ivanka be?"
Bee also takes a jab at those banking on Trump's Democratic voting history proving beneficial in pushing policies on her less moderate father. "Wishful thinkers are hoping that's code for 'your secret progressive buddy,'" but as Bee so aptly emphasizes: evidence suggests that fantasy will remain a fantasy. "Meeting with Leonardo DiCaprio is not a sign that you care about climate change," Bee adds.
Despite the meeting Trump reportedly coordinated between the president and former Vice President Al Gore, the newly elected president nominated a climate change denier to run the Environmental Protection Agency.
"At most, Ivanka has stopped one out of 24 appalling executive orders," Bee concludes after conceding that Trump allegedly helped scrap a bill which would roll back LGBTQ protections.
Bee's slam dunk of the segment? "People are comforted by the thought of a progressive feminist in the White House," she rips. "To which I say: if you wanted that, you should have voted for it."
The entire segment is a gleeful must watch, especially if you're in the camp hoping Trump's new role will somehow turn the president's ultraconservative ship around.
6 Shows to Watch If You Loved 13 Reasons Why

While you're still thinking about those massive cliffhangers in the finale, take a look to see what you can watch next.

'90s Prom Songs That Made You Fall Truly Madly Deeply in Love
Sure, the '90s were all about the bump 'n' grind songs. But while you giggled with your best friend over the racy lyrics, they certainly had no place at school dances where a chaperone would step in if any funny business went down. No, that playlist was reserved for cheesy slow dances, prompting you to grab a boy or girl and awkwardly put your arms around each other and shuffle your two left feet. We can't help but revisit the days of our first crushes with jams that will instantly transport you back to the school gym. So grab your honey, pop in that breath mint, and hit play.

This Guy Fully Committed to Reenacting La La Land to Ask Emma Stone to Prom
IM ASKING EMMA STONE TO PROM, and decided to recreate the opening scene from la la land @RyanGosling @LaLaLand @johnjayandrich #prom http://pic.twitter.com/l28R2rv3I7
- Jacob Staudenmaier (@upsettrout) April 4, 2017
If you're going to ask Emma Stone to prom, why not channel your best Ryan Gosling and go all in with a La La Land theme? That's exactly what Jacob Staudenmaier did, going so far as to fully reenact the film's upbeat opening number with a prom-inspired song of his own. One of the best parts came when he mentioned going out to dinner and a friend held up an "Olive Garden" sign. Cut to Olive Garden tweeting its support, saying dinner and dessert is "on them" if Emma says yes.
Check out the creative video above, then see another pop culture promposal that recently went viral: a Jim Halpert-inspired ask!
How to Dress For Easter, According to the Kardashian-Jenners
On Easter, some might think to wear sophisticated fit-and-flares or pastel tones, but the Kardashian-Jenners follow their own dress code. In 2015, the family famously stuck to a white color palette for a trip to church, but in 2016, the theme seemed to be "over the top." Khloé completed her outfit with a wide-brimmed hat, channeling Elvira Hancock from Scarface, while Kendall wore her signature strappy heels and Kourtney's Hermès bag conjured images of jelly beans.
We've slapped a few rules on these looks, providing a makeshift handbook should you want to dress like a Kardashian-Jenner on Easter. Whether you're going to a boozy holiday brunch, a Sunday ceremony, or a fancy dinner, the Kardashian-Jenners provide outfit inspiration to fit the bill. You've just got to be willing to take a little style risk . . .

Recall Alert! Check Your Child's Inhalers ASAP
Nearly 600,000 inhalers were just voluntarily recalled nationwide by GlaxoSmithKline due to "defective delivery system," with a large number of units having "out of specification results for leak rate" (possible package leakage).
The FDA describes the affected inhalers as prescription-only "Ventolin HFA (albuterol sulfate) Inhalation Aerosol, 90 mcg per actuation, 200 metered inhalations, net weight 18 g inhalers." The recall is classified as "Class II," which means "the products might cause a temporary health problem, or pose only a slight threat of a serious nature," the FDA reports.

3 Free Ways to Do Your Taxes
Tax season is already anxiety-inducing enough - having to pay for online services or a tax prep professional only adds to the stress. Check out some options for preparing your taxes for free, which could make this year's tax season just a little less angsty.
- If your household income is less than $54,000 . . . find an IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site in your area and work with a volunteer to prep your taxes. Seeing "IRS" might give you reflexive heebie-jeebies, but fear not: the people involved in VITA, while trained and certified by the IRS to prepare tax returns, are not government cronies out to get you. They're simply volunteers who can help you maximize your return and file accurately, as they are up-to-date with the latest tax laws (such as this year's Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act).
- If your household income is less than $64,000 . . . use My Free Taxes to do your federal and state tax returns online. It's straightforward, user-friendly, and - oh, yeah - totally free.
- Regardless of your income . . . check out Credit Karma Tax, an online self-directed tax preparation service that is completely free - for everyone.

Pepsi Has Pulled Its Controversial Commercial With Kendall Jenner
Update: The Pepsi commercial is no longer available to watch on YouTube. According to The Daily Beast reporter Olivia Messer, Pepsi is pulling the ad. The company added, "We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position." Jennifer Maloney, a reporter at The Wall Street Journal, also confirmed that Pepsi is pulling the ad and tweeted out the company's full statement.
Pepsi's statement. http://pic.twitter.com/ge8uMcamGa
- Jennifer Maloney (@maloneyfiles) April 5, 2017
We've reached out to Pepsi for additional comment.
Original story: Sometimes, companies hit the right tone when it comes to making statements in commercials. Most of the time, however, the company ends up looking out of touch and leaves the internet shaking its head at it. The newest member to this group? Pepsi, along with Kendall Jenner, for a ridiculous, tone-deaf commercial.
The commercial starts off innocently enough with a protest taking over the streets, signs like "Join the Conversation" popping up. But as Kendall, clad in a blond wig and taking part in a photo shoot, notices the crowd, she realizes where she needs to be - the protest. Kendall wipes off her lipstick and joins the protest, grabbing a Pepsi can in the process. If you're not cringing yet, you will when Kendall walks up to a line of police officers and hands one a Pepsi can. The image is an allusion to when Ieshia Evans, who was standing peacefully in front of police officers at a protest in Baton Rouge, LA, was arrested.
The internet collectively lost it when Pepsi aired this commercial.

People also took the time to call out Kendall for participating.
-this is the closest we have ever seen a kardashian be to activism and it's a fake protest in a pepsi ad she was paid millions to appear in
- jack wagner (@GrimmKardashian) April 4, 2017
Others couldn't help but make fun of the entire situation.
Who wants to let me film them handing a Pepsi to a riot cop at the next big Portland Protest?
- doug brown (@dougbrown8) April 4, 2017
Look I'm as woke as the next guy, but even cops shouldn't have to drink Pepsi.

Some people wondered how Coca-Cola's day was going.
Pepsi just did a brilliant ad for Coke
- Nic Sampson (@NicSampson) April 4, 2017
that pepsi ad made me want to buy a coke.

Mostly, the internet now officially hates Pepsi.

Every Disney Fan Should Complete This Incredible, Edible Bucket List
If you are planning a vacation to Disney World, the abundance of food options across all four parks can be overwhelming, but rest assured that these 28 foods have been well-researched and reviewed in person so you know everything here is 100 percent worth your money (and the calories). While a few iconic treats have made the list (like the Mickey pretzel and Dole Whip), some are a little more obscure (pork nacho fries). Expect this list to be a little sweet, partially covered in gooey cheese, and just a tad bit spiked, for those partaking.
This Stunning Seaside Shoot Is the Mermaid Wedding of Our Dreams
The mermaid-inspired wedding of our dreams came to life on the cliffs of Rosario Beach in Washington. Photographer Becca Jones, Rachel of Manette Gracie events, and a team of amazing vendors styled a glamorous shoot by the sea overlooking the San Juan Islands. Turquoise sequined linens, pearl-draped chairs, and gold accents played up the theme with elegance, while the bride's rhinestone-encrusted gown gleamed beneath the moonlight. They took inspiration from the beauty of the Pacific coast to create this seaside fairy tale with a modern twist.
Every detail was thought out perfectly - "the shimmer and shine of the sun reflected in the rich gold and sparkling blue of the table setting, the golden-hour light bringing out the luster of the pearl accents, and a bouquet that could've been plucked from the most beautiful garden on the ocean floor," Rachel said.

Busy Mamas, Rejoice! This New App Makes It Easier to Connect With New Mom Friends
It's easy for moms to get so caught up in the flurry of changing dirty diapers and packing lunch boxes that they forget to schedule in some time for friends. But now, busy mamas have a means of making new like-minded pals, and it goes by the name of Peanut.
A free app for iPhone users, Peanut is made for moms who want to connect with new friends in their area, but maybe don't have the time to do so. In a Tinder-like fashion, app users simply create a profile and swipe through the troves of other friendship-seeking mamas until they find the perfect matches. Looking for a gal in your city who shares a love of sushi and wine or a hatred of long lines at the grocery store? She just might be on Peanut waiting to be connected with you.
Peanut allows moms to choose three "badges" to identify themselves, with options like "dance machine," "hot mess," and "city gal," according to Mashable. Users, whose children must be 16 years or younger, can also specify whether they're a single mama or if their child has special needs. Upon matching with another woman, mommies can message each other, set up group chats, and create calendar events for meeting up in person.
If you're a mama who's always on-the-go or travels a lot for work, Peanut also has a location toggle feature so you can match with moms wherever you are when you're swiping, rather than solely in your hometown. So whether you've recently moved to a new area or are just in need of a new wine-night buddy, this app may be just what you're looking for. Swipe away!
These Sisters Are Changing the World of Tap Dancing
While you may be tempted to credit La La Land for a surging interest in tap dancing, it's actually the Syncopated Sisters, Chloe and Maud Arnold, who are responsible for bringing tap to new audiences. The pair have been working on bringing attention to tap for over a decade, and now with a little help from Beyoncé, they're getting the attention they deserve. In the latest episode of Hannahgram, Hannah Bronfman catches up with the pair to learn how tap has evolved and why we need to know its true origins.

10 Safe Sunscreens For Kids (Including Some You Can Find at Your Drugstore)
Slather on the lotion! If you thought the breast vs. bottle debate was polarizing, wait until you talk to fellow playground moms about sunscreen. Though lotions and sticks protect little ones' skin from cancer-causing UVA and UVB rays, doctors advise new mamas to use physical barriers - SPF clothing, umbrellas, and shades - rather than lotions on babies younger than 6 months old.
Once tots reach the 6-month mark, though, we need to keep them protected from the sun without harming them in other ways. The Environmental Working Group's recommendations for the best sunscreens for tots - products that do not contain potential hormone disruptors - is considered the definitive list of safe options. According to EWG Senior Scientist David Andrews, it's inactive ingredients like retinyl palmitate (vitamin A) and oxybenzone that parents need to look out for. "By and large, the ones that do well in our database are the ones that are mineral-based products with a higher percent of zinc oxide, as well as some of the products with titanium dioxide," he said.
While parents have been getting the message about switching from chemical sunscreens to mineral versions, one of the group's biggest concerns is how parents are using them. "[Consumers] are looking to buy higher and higher SPF values," Andrews said. "When people use higher SPF values, we're concerned that it leads to a change in behavior and an increased time in the sun and that you apply less of it. Those products may not be as effective in blocking both UVA and UVB radiation. So we steer consumers toward SPF 30 to SPF 50 products and lower and we really think those are the sweet spot of the products that are available in the marketplace."
He went on to explain, "The active ingredients in SPF 30 and SPF 100 products may be quite similar. So we're going to be doing more over the course of the next year, investigating the inactive ingredients like the antioxidants and anti-inflammatories that may be reducing redness in the skin, but may not be reducing how much hits your skin. The way the SPF test is done is in changes in skin redness."
So what's a parent to do when trying to choose a safe sunscreen? First, check the EWG's site and app for a list of the safest and least safe options for your family. If you don't have that at your fingertips, Andrews recommends:
- Steering away from SPF products over 50. SPF 30-50 products depending on the situation are OK.
- Seek out products that use three percent avobenzone if they are chemical sunscreens or the ones that use zinc oxide as the active ingredient in natural versions. "[They] do the best job of filtering out UVA radiation across the spectrum of UVA radiation. Seek out products that use a higher percentage of zinc oxide - typically you'll find 15 to 20 percent, or three percent avobenzone."
- Look at inactive ingredients on the label. If possible, avoid products that use retinyl palmitate (vitamin A) and avoid products using oxybenzone.
- Avoid spray products - they're convenient but not the best choice. Why skip the convenience of spray lotions? "You don't get a uniform coating on the skin," Andrews says. Plus, "Given the concern about the ingredients in these products, we really don't want to coat the inside of our lungs with sunscreen."

This Dance Video to Neiked's "Sexual" Will Make You Feel, Well, You Know
We could watch dance videos all day long. While our boss probably wouldn't approve, they're the perfect thing to obsess over during your lunch break, on your commute home, or whenever you're feeling the rhythm. We've already watched dancers kill it to Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" (as well as these Irish dancers), Bruno Mars's "That's What I Like,", and Alessia Cara's "Stay," and this latest one is just as good. Neiked's incredibly catchy and feel-good tune "Sexual" is the subject of Jake Kodish's latest choreography, and let's just say, it will make you feel . . . things.
Brad Pitt Joins Robert Pattinson and Charlie Hunnam at Their Movie Premiere
Brad Pitt surprised fans when he stepped out for the Lost City of Z premiere in LA on Wednesday night. The actor - who is "focusing on himself again" amid his divorce from Angelina Jolie - appeared to be in a good mood as he flashed a big smile for photographers. Also in attendance were the stars of the film, Charlie Hunnam and Robert Pattinson. While the trio sadly didn't pose for any photos together, the outing marks Brad's first red carpet appearance in roughly five months, though he did pop up on stage at the Golden Globes back in January.

How to Stay on Theme - and Look Cool - at Disney
As a self-proclaimed Disney obsessive, I plan my park outfits strategically. We're talking a Lion King graphic tee for Animal Kingdom and Princess Ariel crown on the day I plan to visit the grotto in Fantasyland. Lame? I don't think so. Because when I actually hit Main Street, I promise you I look less like a crazy chick in a costume and more like a fan who's also fashion girl. Because listen, I style my Disney gear with cute cutoffs or bright-red Daisy Dukes and a pair of on-trend sneakers.
It seems like the celebs I follow on Instagram are all on board with the same set of rules. Whether they're on the West Coast at the OG theme park in Anaheim or park hopping it Orlando, Gigi Hadid, Lily Aldridge, Kourtney Kardashian, and more keep their looks fresh and topped with a pair of Mickey ears. That's just how I like it. Scroll to get inspired, then shop a few essentials.
