These Magical Sheet Masks Will Delight Disney and K-Beauty Fans Alike
Although sheet masks are a great addition to your skincare routine, they aren't always the most exciting to use. Luckily, The Face Shop has launched a collection with a little Disney magic that's so adorable, you'll never forget to nourish your skin, hair, or feet again. The Face Shop x Disney sheet mask collection is the skincare line we've been waiting for since childhood, when we first wished we looked like a Disney princess.
Not only are the packages adorned with some of the world's most beloved characters, but the treatments themselves reflect the character on the packaging. Rapunzel is on the hair conditioning package so you can achieve her luscious locks, while Snow White's milky skin is attainable with the brightening version. Unsurprisingly, since Ariel lives under the sea, her formula is ultrahydrating.
If princesses aren't your thing, Winnie the Pooh, Mickey, and even Mike from Monsters Inc. are featured on their own treatments. Still, we can't wait to get our hands on the Cinderella foot mask so our toes can look lovely in glass sandals this Summer.
Unfortunately, these treatments aren't sold in the US yet, but you can purchase them on Amazon individually or in a set of three for only $13. Read on to see every item from this enchanting collection.
As Sports Illustrated's Curviest Model, Hunter McGrady Knows Sexy Suits All Sizes
You've seen Hunter McGrady everywhere - the 23-year-old model has been named the "curviest" model to grace Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue. (Those body paint photos aren't easy to forget. Hubba, hubba!) Hunter started modeling at 16, coming from a long lineage of models in her family - her mother, grandmother and aunt were models; her father is an actor. But after being told she was too big at a size two, she took a hiatus from the industry for a few years. She's now a part of Wilhelmina International's Curve division and has appeared in campaigns for Lane Bryant.
Being a plus-size model has its challenges, first being the term "plus-size," according to Hunter.
"A size six, in New York, on a modeling board, would be considered plus-size. Fourteen is what really works in the plus-size industry, but it starts at six; I mean, that's insane," Hunter said. It's problematic that "regular sizes" are limited to zero, two, and four, especially when research shows that 67 percent of women in America are size 16-18. "That's 17 percent more than half the population," Hunter reiterated. "So why is it just now becoming such a big thing?"
The term "plus-size" also has a connotation that Hunter feels separates her from other models, when the reality is the only difference is her size. "I would love to just be called a model. I think that labeling plus-size, curve, full-figure, whatever it is . . . I understand that some people need that clarification," Hunter said. "For me, I'm just a model. I show up, I do the same job as everyone else, I get paid the same, everything is the same. You wouldn't say, 'size zero model so-and-so.'"
Further, people tend to think being a curve model means having fewer restrictions or, according to some of the comments on a version of this video that appeared on Facebook, that curve models are "unhealthy."
"I think people think that we can get away with looking however we want. They're like, 'Whatever, she's a curve model. She doesn't have to work out, she doesn't have to eat well.' Which isn't true. I have a personal trainer, I eat clean. But on the other spectrum, there is a pressure to have the Coke bottle body, to be really tight. Someone's always going to want you to be thicker," Hunter said.

The Surprising Bath Product That Could Alleviate Your Migraines
Besides the pain of a throbbing headache, the most frustrating part of being a migraine sufferer is how difficult it is to find an effective treatment. I personally have given up on preventative or emergency medications, as many of them have only made me feel worse. But thanks to a viral Facebook post, those dealing with these awful headaches may finally be able to get some relief.
The Daily Mail discovered Facebook user Jill Hamilton's tip from a friend, which declares Johnson's Baby Soothing Vapor Bath ($5) as "life-changing."
"I get unbearable migraine headaches," read the post. "I started using this in the shower every night, I lather up really good and breathe in the smell for about five minutes then rinse off. And no more migraine!"
The relief may be due to the aromatherapeutic blend of rosemary, eucalyptus, and menthol. Cathy Glaser, the president of the Migraine Research Foundation, told Allure that researchers have been focusing on the benefits of menthol in particular.
"Menthol has been used as a 'non-drug' therapy for headaches for centuries. Although there are anecdotal reports that it's helpful, there is no scientific research supporting its use," says Glaser. "That's why we funded a study on cornmint oil (which is what menthol comes from) last year."
While there are no results yet from that study, it's worth testing out the Johnson's Baby Soothing Vapor Bath in the meantime. It could seriously improve your life if it works, but worst case scenario, you're out $5 - with a squeaky-clean body.

7 Things You Need to Know Before Your Teen Watches 13 Reasons Why
Chances are you've either heard of Netflix's new series 13 Reasons Why, or your teen has expressed interest in watching it. An adaptation of a YA novel with the same name by Jay Asher, the series navigates the aftermath of high school student Hannah Baker's suicide. Before taking her own life, Hannah creates 13 cassette tapes, each one dedicated to a person who somehow played a part in her decision to commit suicide, causing guilt and paranoia between members of the selected group. The series covers a number of heavy topics, to say the least, so if you're the parent of a teen who has expressed interest in binge-watching the heartbreaking and brutally honest show, there are a few things you should know first.
Of course you know your child and what they can handle best, but the series is rated MA for a reason, as in addition to suicide, there are a number of other difficult topics touched upon such as sexual assault and rape, bullying, and depression. Because of this, we'd recommend teens 15 and older delving into the series. Although you may want to shield your teen from these heavy topics, they're the same age as the kids in the series, meaning they may have already been exposed to some of these more difficult issues in one way or another at school or on social media.
So if your teen is interested in watching the series (or maybe they know nothing about it, but you'd like to watch it with them to open communication lines), here are a few things you should know - and a few reasons we support you in watching it with them - before you start binging.
- It opens the floor for some heavy conversations. You may not feel ready to talk to your child about suicide, sexual assault, and depression, but open communication and education about mental illness is so important in their high school years and the series provides an opening for you to discuss each issue before, during, and after you watch (and to note, Netflix warns you before a few of the more difficult episodes to let you know what's ahead).
- Although it will seem like the least of your worries considering the aforementioned topics, there's plenty of swearing. F*ck, sh*t, asshole . . . all of 'em.
- The emotional effects of the series may be hard to process. Whether your teen has first-hand experience with bullying, social anxieties, or depression or not, it's undeniable that the feelings this series provokes are strong and lasting. Your teen may feel particularly emotional upon viewing, more so with each episode, so encourage open communication about their feelings along the way.
- The bullying is sometimes subtle, sometimes over-the-top. When talking to your teen about bullying and cyberbullying in reference to the series, it's important to note that sometimes the events Hannah references as bullying are subtle, but clearly had lasting effects on her. Discuss with your teen the power of their words and actions, as well as what it means to be the type of person who stands up for themselves and their friends against bullies.
- Hannah seems to take pleasure in the guilt her tapes would cause. Although each person on the tapes was in the wrong in Hannah's opinion, she makes it clear in her recordings that the reason she made them to be heard after it was too late to save her was to make everyone feel guilty for what they'd done. It's important to discuss with your teen why reciprocation and revenge when it comes to bullying can in and of itself be considered bullying.
- Sexual assault isn't just implied; you see it. From a classmate of Hannah's feeling free to grab her behind in a corner store to multiple instances of rape, the series doesn't hold back. Is it uncomfortable to see? Yes. Is it extremely important and powerful? Absolutely.
- Hannah's suicide is ultimately shown. We don't want to spoil anything for you, but the last episode does show Hannah's suicide. How she does it, where she does it, and everything in between. It is extremely graphic, impossibly difficult to watch, and emotionally heavy.
If, after watching and discussing the series, you find your teen knows someone who may be depressed or having suicidal thoughts, contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline for information and resources.

21 High-Protein Dinners That Won't Break the Bank

If You Miss Eating Yogurt, These Are the 6 Best Dairy-Free Options
When going dairy-free, the number one food most people mourn over is their loss of cheese, but a close second is yogurt. Creamy, sweet, and easy to find, it's a great source of protein and probiotics, and your spoon can't help but feel sadness when it has no more yogurt to dip into.
But there are dairy-free alternatives! As a vegan, I've searched and taste tested just about all of them. I spent a ton of money because these babies aren't cheap and these six dairy-free yogurts are my absolute faves. They taste delicious - like they-could-pass-for-real-yogurt-and-they-fooled-my-husband-and-kids kind of delicious!
- Silk Almond: The Plain has been my go-to. With 180 calories, 10 grams of carbs, six grams of sugar, and six grams of protein, this yogurt has an amazingly creamy texture and is sweet enough (I'm usually a vanilla girl but have been trying to cut back on sugar), and a great mild-tasting yogurt that's soy-free. It even offers three grams of fiber, which is almost unheard of in a yogurt. Just a heads up that this yogurt is not sugar-free, even though it's plain. But it's comparable to a nonfat plain Greek yogurt, which has four grams of sugar.
- Silk Soy: If you're looking for a sweet, creamy, vanilla-flavored yogurt, this is the one to buy. With 140 calories, 20 grams of carbs, 16 grams of sugar, and six grams of protein, the Vanilla flavor offers more calcium than Greek yogurt (20 percent vs. 15 percent for Greek). It tastes absolutely delicious on its own, but also freezes well for these banana pops and bakes well in this banana protein bread. If you're into flavored yogurt, the Peach & Mango is amazing. On a side note, the Silk Vanilla Almond is pretty good too, but it has 200 calories, 17 grams of sugar, and only five grams of protein, so if you aren't soy-free, I'd go for the Vanilla Soy.
- Kite Hill: Every flavor of this almond yogurt is outstanding. The Plain is 160 calories and has five grams of carbs, five grams of sugar, and six grams of protein. With a slightly thicker consistency than Silk, you may prefer it if you're a Greek yogurt fan. It's also just as delicious, but since it's slightly more expensive, I usually only buy it if Silk Almond Plain is sold out. It also has no calcium as compared to the Silk Plain Almond that has 15 percent. Kite Hill does offer some unique flavors that are totally worth buying like Key Lime and Caramel. Kite Hill also offers Unsweetened Plain that I have yet to try, but since their other flavors are so yummy, I'd bet money that this is, too.
- Forager Project Cashewgurt: I recently tried the Wild Blueberry flavor and was floored by how creamy and sweet and delicious this tasted - love the real whole tiny blueberries mixed in. With 130 calories, 20 grams of carbs, 12 grams of sugar, and two grams of protein, it's not as protein-packed as the above yogurts but would make a great postdinner dessert. It's an amazingly creamy yogurt alternative if you're off dairy, soy, and gluten. I'm itching to try the Vanilla Bean flavor.
- Good Karma: This yogurt is made from flaxmilk! I'm a fan of the Strawberry, which has 130 calories, 24 grams of sugar, 18 grams of sugar, and five grams of protein. It's creamy and sweet, and has bits of real strawberry mixed in. The Plain flavor tastes OK, not nearly as good as the Silk Plain Almond and the Kite Hill Plain, but I love that it's only 90 calories and has six grams each of sugar and protein.
- Stonyfield Farms O'Soy: This yogurt tastes pretty good, not outstanding, but pretty darn good. I put it on the list since it's the brand I see at the most stores, even basic supermarkets. The Vanilla flavor is organic and has 130 calories, 20 grams of carbs, 18 grams of sugar, and a whopping seven grams of protein - the most out of any on this list. It's very creamy and probably the least expensive out of all of these, so that's another bonus. Their other flavors are equally delicious.
Honorable mention: So Delicious Coconutmilk: Creamy and sweet, this yogurt definitely has a strong coconut flavor and a somewhat waxy, oily texture, so it's not my favorite, but I know people who love it, especially since it's soy-, gluten-, and nut-free and offers 45 percent of your daily vitamin B12. With less than one gram of protein, the Vanilla is 110 calories, has 12 grams of carbs, and less than one gram of sugar.
I know what you're thinking. These yogurts don't contain as much protein as Greek yogurt. You can fix that! Just DIY your own dairy-free Greek yogurt by stirring in some plant-based protein powder.
Turmeric Is the Hottest Ingredient to Add Into Your DIY Skin Care Routine
If rubbing a bright orange substance on your face makes you feel like Donald Trump, don't worry - what we're about to tell you has nothing to do with politics. The formula we're referring to is the turmeric spice, and it's a buzzy term in the holistic health community right now. The spice hails from India and has traditionally been used in cooking (it's part of the ginger root family). But these days, people are adding it to everything from their smoothies to face masks. We're going to explore the latter since turmeric has many amazing beauty uses.
"Turmeric is an age-old ingredient used for its internal as well as external health-and-beauty-promoting properties," explained Sheetal Rawal, a scientist and founder of brand Apsara. "It has been used in the Indian subcontinent for thousands of years for its natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and color-balancing properties. Currently, it is also gaining quite some fame in the West for its significant antioxidant properties."
This ability to bring down inflammation translates to skin care by minimizing acne or bringing down a rosacea flare-up. You can also rely on it for antiaging benefits. "It is loaded with key vitamins that facilitate important skin renewal processes, such as the creation of collagen," added Adina Grigore, the founder of S.W. Basics.
Barbara Close, founder and CEO of Naturopathica, explained the science behind this: "Extracts from turmeric, known as tetrahydrocurcuminoids, efficiently quench free radicals on the surface of the skin due to their antioxidant properties. This protects against damage from ultraviolet radiation and environmental irritants."
In fact, it is even incorporated into prebridal Indian rituals, during which the bride and groom are massaged with a turmeric-infused, homemade herbal concoction. "Turmeric in this age-old concoction is supposed to bring out the 'hidden glow' of the skin," Rawal shared.
Those with sensitive skin should not fear turmeric just because it's spicy. "It's wonderful for anyone who has supersensitive skin, but even for normal skin types, it really makes the skin look flawless," said Joanna Vargas, celebrity facialist and owner of her eponymous brand. "Make sure you are using pure organic turmeric. Some generic store-bought options contain dyes that can stain your skin after application. This is one ingredient where you must go organic."
If you're still hung up on having an Oompa Loompa face, Grigore has more to add on the matter. "And no, to answer your burning question, it won't dye your skin yellow," she mused. "If you're using it in powder form, just be sure to rinse it off thoroughly!"
Keep reading to hear more from these pros and others about how to incorporate turmeric into your beauty routine - DIY recipes included!

15 Ways that Pippa Middleton Is Practically Royal
Kate Middleton was welcomed into the royal family long before she walked down the aisle at Westminster Abbey, and her younger sister Pippa has been by her side from day one. Although we won't be seeing Pippa on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at Trooping the Colour or setting up home in a royal palace, she's about as close to royalty as anyone can get without actually having the job herself. As she's set to marry next month - with a tiny prince and princess in her bridal party and the future king and queen on the guest list - we take a look at all the ways Pippa is practically a princess.
The 1 Thing Most People Forget to Donate to Animal Shelters
People often tell me how much they love animals and ask what they can do to help them. The obvious is to donate money to shelters and animal charities, but there is more you can do beyond that. Another thing you can do is donate your time by walking dogs or fostering them, but what if those just don't seem like the right fit for you? We asked Rocky Kanaka, host and creator of Save Our Shelter, what else people could possibly do to help, and as an expert in this arena, he had several suggestions.
"I always encourage people to think of what they enjoy," he said. Start by considering what you love and what you're good at. Maybe you take photos in your spare time. Call up a shelter and ask if they need someone to photograph the animals for adoption to put on the website. If it's something you excel at, chances are you'll take a quality photo that will help get that animal adopted. If you're an accountant, see if you can donate your services to a shelter.
7 Ways You Can Help a Dog in Need
Rocky points out that the thing about animal shelters is that they're very community oriented. "It's a neat community opportunity to get involved in your hometown," he said. "They're really a reflection of the community." So many people can get involved, because it takes skills and effort from so many people.
On the list of tangible items Rocky says most shelters need the most are:
- Vet care services
- Paper towels
- Cleaning supplies
- Office supplies
- Cat litter
"No one ever thinks of cat litter, because it's not as fun of a donation, but shelters always, always need it," Rocky said. "It's probably what shelters need the most."
Next time you want to pitch in with your local shelter, think outside the box and consider donating your skills or maybe cat litter. Anything like that would be more than appreciated.
The Number of Calories in a Sweet Potato May Surprise You
Packed with vitamin A and a great source of energy-sustaining complex carbs, sweet potatoes are having their moment in the healthy-eating spotlight. If you haven't been eating them because you're worried about them making you gain weight, this should ease your mind.
Eating sweet potatoes can actually help you lose weight because they're relatively low in calories. One medium baked sweet potato (about 3/4 cup) is just 100 calories. If you compare that to a slice of equal-calorie whole wheat bread, this orange tuber offers the same amount of carbs and almost twice the amount of filling fiber at 3.7 grams.
Aside from offering hunger-satiating fiber and energizing complex carbs, sweet potatoes have a relatively low glycemic index rating (50), which can prevent spikes in your blood sugar levels. They also contain a compound that increases levels of adiponectin in the body, the blood-sugar regulating hormone. When your blood sugar levels are regulated, it prevents sugar cravings that can make you eat half a pan of brownies.
Sweet potatoes, as the name suggests, are naturally sweet, and eating one can help satisfy your sweet tooth, so they're a great alternative to a sugary muffin or bowl of brown sugar oatmeal. Pair your sweet potato with a source of protein and healthy fat and you'll keep hunger at bay all morning long. Try a sweet potato smoothie, this avocado, tofu, sweet potato, and cashew bowl, warm sweet potato toast, or sweet potato tofu scramble.
If you want to nosh on sweet potato for dinner, aside from baked or roasted, try a chili-stuffed sweet potato or an easy-to-whip-up homemade sweet potato veggie burger. And for dessert? A slice of sweet potato banana protein bread!
With so many ways to enjoy this orange root veggie, don't just wait until Thanksgiving or order sweet potato fries when you're out to dinner. Bake a bunch on Sunday afternoon so you can enjoy them all week long.
This LBD Is Both a Nod to Jennifer Aniston's Signature Style, and a Daring Departure
Jennifer Aniston stepped out in LA Tuesday night to support her husband Justin Theroux. The gorgeous couple struck a pose in matching black ensembles at the season three premiere of HBO's The Leftovers, which Justin stars in.
While the night was all about Justin, we couldn't look away from Jennifer in her daring leather ensemble. Sure, she stuck to a classic black palette, but she stunned in a look that differs from her typical fashion choices: a one-shouldered minidress from designer Brandon Maxwell's FW 17 collection. The number features a modern ruffle accent on the side. Jennifer finished her look off with gold Jennifer Meyer open circle earrings and black satin strappy sandals by Gianvito Rossi. Have a look at her full look and shop similar versions of her leather dress below.
The 1 Genius Decorating Tip Everyone Should Steal from RHOC's Heather Dubrow
Real Housewives of Orange County star Heather Dubrow's palatial mansion is filled with many over-the-top design elements that are far from feasible for the ordinary gal; her floating onyx bar, massive closet complete with it's own champagne door bell (we kid you not), and movie theater come to mind. And while we can only gape at those pricey features, Heather does have one elegant design ritual dwellers on any budget can get behind: she fills her entryway with a new display of fresh flowers each week. The fragrant seasonal blossoms set a welcoming tone, while the constantly rotating displays help prevent her home design from becoming stale.
In typical Heather fashion, her the flowers are from a swanky delivery service and are opulent enough to decorate the head table at a black-tie wedding - but you need only swap in a new simple grocery store bouquet every week to achieve the same results. You can even create depth to the look by breaking up the bouquet into multiple vessels arranged at different heights, like Heather does.
Check out the Bravo! star's stunning floral displays ahead. And remember, no matter how much you pay for your blooms or how you arrange them, the key is to make bringing them into your home a habit that you do consistently.
Just How Does the Queen Celebrate Her Birthday?
We all know Trooping The Colour - the queen's official birthday - is the time for pomp and pageantry; for Prince George and Princess Charlotte balcony appearances, and for Kate Middleton to showcase her latest Jane Taylor cocktail hat; but the queen's actual birthday on April 21 is usually a more low-key affair. Low key, yes, but thanks to a very quirky combination of royal duties, she has also had her fair share of weird and wonderful birthday treats - including six thousand singing children, traditional feasting in a remote Korean village, making a solemn vow in the depths of South Africa, and more.

Instead of Shaming Each Other, These Moms Are Proving That "Fed Is Best"
Having lived in an orphanage, photographer Mikaela Bodkin knows firsthand the importance of food and nutrients for babies, yet she sees moms criticized and belittled for how they feed their babies. In order to prove that all moms should be celebrated and proud of the different ways they feed their children, this talented photographer created a powerful photo series showcasing these diverse mamas.
"Feeding your child is a special bond - no matter how you are feeding them," she told POPSUGAR. "I have witnessed firsthand that mom-shaming is still a thing. I think it's important we realize that we are all doing the best we can. Some mothers breastfeed, some can't or don't want too, some mommas have to pump or tube feed their children - who is anyone to judge?"
Through her photos, Mikaela is not only normalizing all types of feeding methods, but is also giving these moms a priceless gift. "We live in a judgmental world. No matter what we do it's going to occur, but hopefully I can shed some light on the fact that no matter how you do it, if you are doing what is best for you and baby, that is what's best period," she added.

Seventeen's Former Editor in Chief on Avoiding the "Entitled Millennial" Label at Work
Having been editor in chief of Seventeen magazine for the better part of a decade, Ann Shoket knows a thing or two about millennial women, and as the founder of Badass Babes, an empowering and confidence-building sisterhood of women, she is uniquely poised to be giving out career advice to young ladies in her new book The Big Life. Judging by the praise from badasses like Issa Rae, Lauren Conrad, and Tiffany Dufu, this book serves up some inspiring, no-nonsense guidance in the form of Shoket's own insights on work and life in the modern age, interspersed with real-life stories of young women who have maneuvered their way through the turbulent years of their early careers.
One particularly sharp section of The Big Life tackles the topic of being "entitled" at work - that descriptor that somehow became associated with the entire millennial generation (and which millennials themselves agree is accurate!). The thing is, in some ways "entitled" is simply another term for "ambitious" or maybe "impatient," and the way to combat the negative connotation of the term is to work hard at your job until you actually do earn your place at the table. Keep scrolling for more insights on the E-word, excerpted straight from The Big Life.
The Entitlement Swipe
Since we're discussing earning your place at the table, let's talk about the elephant in the room. You've seen the headlines, and you know what older generations say about you: entitled.
Inevitably, when I tell senior executives that I'm writing a book about the power of millennial women, someone will pull me aside and say, "Ugh, what do you hate most about millennials?" And before I can set them straight (millennials are incredibly hardworking; demanding flexible schedules will change the working landscape for everyone!), they launch into a harangue about what they hate: how they find millennials lazy, entitled, and self-obsessed (as well as selfie-obsessed). You know the digs. Sure, it's easy to focus on the fact that you would probably rather call an Uber than take public transportation or hit up Task Rabbit instead of running a delivery across town. And even though you know you work really hard, when every lunch starts with an elaborately staged Instagram photo shoot, you can see how millennials have earned this rep.
Allie complains over a Badass Babes dinner that she feels "stalled." She works in retail operations at a big website that she's been dreaming of working for since she was in eighth grade. Allie has reached a point where she feels she knows more and is better qualified than her boss. "I've been getting frustrated a lot lately. I'm very confident in what I do. I know I'm good at my job, and I've worked really hard to get there. But I sort of feel like I'm taking a step back, and there's that frustration of feeling better, and I don't want to have that feeling. I don't want to be nasty about it, but it's that daily struggle." Allie is hungry for a promotion but feels stalled by all the rules. "I just had a really great review, but nothing has happened yet. Where do I even go from here? They say we have to wait, and I feel like that's kind of b.s. in a way. So many dates and deadlines and rules!" Allie's bosses don't see her frustration; they see that she's pushing hard against rules and systems that they're heavily invested in maintaining.
So listen: I have been that boss who wanted you to sit still and wait to get promoted. No matter how hard you were working, your project/taskforce/title change/raise wasn't in my strategic plan and probably wasn't in the budget. I've also been that young woman at the beginning of her career who had to dutifully file snoozy stories that were not my passion and go to every long, mind-numbing meeting in which nothing got done. I know that feeling in your soul that you have so much more to offer the world, if you could just get your shot. I saw my career as a straight line. Do a good job, get promoted; do a good job there, get promoted again. And that's how a lot of bosses think you should view your career too.
You see yourself as a carefully crafted brand, while your boss sees you as a tool to help get her job done. You're still new to the game, and like everyone else, you have to recognize that the world doesn't always do what you need when you need it to. While I am always 100 percent on your side, I can also see things from your bosses' side of the table. They see you walking into the room with nine months' experience - which is everything to you - but from their perspective, it's just a blip on the screen. You see yourself as a carefully crafted brand, while your boss sees you as a tool to help get her job done. You've reached a part of your journey where you have a broad vision for yourself, and your boss is looking at you through only a small window. She's asking, "What can this person do for me, and how much is it worth to me?" She doesn't see where you're going or all the incredible strides you've made to get to this moment. Nor should she. You are slotted to fill a role inside your organization, and right now, the truth is that you're replaceable. The slot exists for a reason. It represents a job that needs to get done. It existed as a role for someone to fill before you, and it will be there after you move on to something bigger and better.
It feels crappy, though, to think of yourself as a cog in the wheel, stripped of all your personality. That sense of yourself, and that incredibly big vision you had, may be similar to what your boss had for herself at your age. And then life happens - layoffs, cutbacks, breakups, difficult bosses. All this has shaped her life, and maybe she's feeling a little small about her own horizon. This isn't your concern or your problem to fix, but it's worth paying attention to.
You shouldn't have to manage your career based on someone else's ideas of how things should go, but ultimately, before you've earned your place at the table, you aren't in a position to make all the rules yet. Until it's time for you to take your seat, keep looking for chances to take twists and turns. Continue to push for more projects and let your boss know you think you're ready for greater responsibility (even if you're not going to get it right away). It's so much more interesting to be daring, to try new things, to be the young hotshot, and to risk being called "entitled" because you have been bold enough to go for something big.

Is Diet or Exercise More Important For Weight Loss?
I've always been active, but weight loss was never top of mind for me until I was a freshman in college. My first months away from home, I packed on some serious weight, but instead of cleaning up my diet, I started doing two-a-day cardio workouts, barely ate a bite all day, and binged on a calorie bomb late at night. The results? General exhaustion and minor, unsustainable weight loss. I wish I could say that I did my research, talked to a doctor, and changed my ways, but this vicious cycle continued for many, many years. Years later, I would kick my ass with an insane workout four or five times a week, and while I was stronger, I would not see any results on the scale or in my clothes. Things only changed when I was able to fully digest this fitness adage: "Abs are made in the kitchen."
There's data to back up this claim. In meta-analysis from Behavioural Weight Management Review Group, researchers determined that over the course of a year, the combination of diet with exercise leads to sustainable weight loss, but over a six-month period, adding exercise made no difference to participants' weight-loss success. Trainer Sam Kelman can vouch for this study's efficacy. Despite her intense workout schedule, she couldn't manage to shed the last 15 pounds she'd be holding on to. Without making any shifts to her workout routine, she let go of the weight she hadn't been able to lose in just a few months by changing her diet, specifically in terms of portion control.
Weight loss is not my primary fitness goal right now, but for many years, it absolutely was. It was only when I got honest about my propensity to emotionally eat that I was able to take off weight, keep it off, and refocus my workout goals to improved energy and strength. I only wish I had gotten the memo sooner, so I could have saved myself from years of miserable yo-yo dieting and self-doubt about my ability to achieve my goal. It was celebrity trainer Anna Kaiser who helped me make the shift with a dose of tough love: "Put down the fork. No one needs to be eating five bowls of pasta a week and think that they're going to get rid of saddlebags if they're doing 500 leg raises. It's just not going to happen." A little harsh? Yes. But true? Unfortunately.
