Small Bust? Shop 16 Figure-Flattering Suits to Enhance What You've Got
Swimsuit shopping is a unique battle for anyone, especially if you're self-conscious about being smaller up top. Arm yourself with tricks and you'll be able to stroll seaside with confidence.
- Flaunt what you have, and fake what you don't. If you're looking to create more cleavage, opt for an underwire bra top (or padding). A structured top will shape what you have, while padded cups can actively fake more if that's the look you're after.
- Distract, distract, distract. Ruffles, bold prints, and splashes of color are all far busier than a simple, solid suit and can claim an onlooker's attention.
- Embrace what you can wear. Tiny tops and unique shapes are cute but often spell disaster for women with larger chests. Trendy styles are easy to conquer when support isn't mandatory, so go ahead and play around with fun cuts.
Now that you're up to speed, just read on to shop the cutest suits for small-busted beach babes.

Target Is Empowering Breastfeeding Moms With Public Feeding Stations
As if moms didn't already love Target, this chain is giving women another reason to be obsessed with their stores. To the delight of many shoppers, some Targets have rolled out a "nursing nook" or "feeding station" for moms to be able to nourish their little ones in comfort.
These thoughtful areas aren't set up in a private room or dark corner meant to hide moms. Instead, they are normalizing the concept of moms feeding their babies by keeping the area in public. Along with cozy chairs and pillows, the designated space has Boppy pillows, breastfeeding covers, and free breast pads.
Kristy Welker, a representative for Target, told Scary Mommy that the company is testing these nursing areas in a few stores but it does not currently have plans to expand the concept to all locations.
"In late 2016, we began testing designated nursing rooms at two stores in Minnesota. We will continue to evaluate guest feedback on this test to determine broader rollout to additional stores and we always appreciate hearing from our guests about how we can better meet their needs," Welker said. "Fitting rooms are available for women who wish to breastfeed their babies privately, even if others are waiting to use the fitting rooms. Guests who choose to breastfeed in public areas of the store are welcome to do so without being made to feel uncomfortable. Additionally, store leaders are empowered to make decisions that help meet the needs of the guests they serve."
Little Girl Teaches Her Classmates an Important Lesson on Crazy Hair Day
When Daniella Wride was brushing her little girl's hair after a bath, she noticed something startling: an alarming amount of Gianessa's hair was falling out.
The very next day, the concerned family received a tentative diagnosis for the little girl's hair loss, and three weeks later it was confirmed that she has alopecia, an autoimmune disease that can be triggered by stress. Just 19 days after Gianessa's parents first noticed a problem, the child had officially lost all of her hair. "There are times that I think I take it harder than she does," Daniella told POPSUGAR. "You think things like: I hope someone just sees her for who she is - her beautiful, sassy, smart, loving, kind self - not just the girl without any hair."
Daniella is helping her daughter embrace her "new fabulous look" while also hoping her little one feel like she fits in. "I truly don't care if she has hair or not. But it's the experiences I don't want her to miss out on: crazy hair day, getting ready for dates, dances with friends and doing each other's hair," she said. "This girl is fierce and brave, way more so than I could have ever imagined."
As Crazy Hair Day approached at school, Daniella turned to her daughter's friends for inspiration on what to do for this potentially difficult event. They suggested temporary tattoos or body glitter, but when Daniella came across jewel stickers in the scrapbook section of her craft store, she knew that they were the perfect option for her artistic daughter.
After Gianessa created the design she wanted, her mom applied the jewels to her head. "She said she was really nervous no one would like it and when I finished, she ran to the bathroom to look at it," Daniella recalled. "She got a massive grin on her face and she said, 'I look so awesome!'"
When Daniella dropped her girl off for school, she could hear people enthusiastically complimenting her spirited look. When she picked her up at the end of the day, not only were all of the jewels still in place, but she also learned that Gianessa's teacher chose her daughter for the best crazy hair in class. "She said, 'All the kids kept swarming me! They all LOVED it!'" Daniella said. With that confident glow, it's no wonder why!

There's Going to Be 1 Huge Difference Between the Original Dirty Dancing and the Reboot
For a lot of diehard movie and TV show fans, just hearing the word "reboot" can induce a justified amount of panic. What if they ruin a beloved character? What if they don't get the story right?! We have no doubt that plenty of Dirty Dancing fans are currently having these exact fears about ABC's upcoming TV reimagining of the 1987 classic, but after speaking with one of its stars, we have a good feeling the revival will do Baby and Johnny justice.
We recently sat down with Debra Messing - who plays Baby's mom, Marjorie Houseman - to discuss her exciting new partnership with CoolSculpting, and she was more than happy to squash any potential worries about the remake. "For people who love the original, and I'm included, the thing that made me really happy when I read the script was that all the music that you love, the big dance numbers, and the lift, is all there," she said. "It feels like you're revisiting something that was very beloved."
The dance numbers that made the original so memorable will no doubt be even more spectacular thanks to a little help from Andy Blankenbuehler, who recently picked up a Tony Award for his work on Hamilton. Messing couldn't help but sing his praises, and when we asked what it was like to film the iconic final dance scene, her eyes instantly lit up. "The last dance sequence is just packed with people and dancers," she said. "The dancing is extraordinary. We all danced and we all sang, so it was all so celebratory to be in that room together and to root on Abby [Breslin] for the big lift."
It's obvious from the recently released photos that the revival is going to be nostalgia overload for any fan of the first film, but Messing let slip that the writers decided to go in a very different direction when it comes to Baby and Johnny's relationship. "It's an event film, which means it's longer than the original. There's more meat to the characters in the family," she revealed. "My character, Marjorie Houseman, was not a fleshed-out character in the original. This time around, that's different. You learn more about her relationship with her husband, and the dynamics within the family. It's also got its own spin. You're going to find out what happened to Baby and Johnny after that Summer, which has never been done before."
Will Johnny and Baby live happily ever after? We'd like to think so, but we won't know for sure until the TV version premieres on May 24.

A Doctor Just Infused Vitamins Into My Veins - Here's What Happened
This week I walked into an urban day spa, past the manicure and pedicure area and through a beautiful lounge with crystal-infused water and teas, into a back room where a board certified anesthesiologist performs a different kind of wellness treatment - IV drip therapy. Sights you'd normally only see in a hospital - syringes, rubber gloves, and liter bags of fluids suspended from a metal post - are now making their way into spas and holistic health treatments, but why?
Dr. Neetu Ahluwalia is a Stanford-trained physician offering this new-age (and dare I say, trendy) treatment to patients in San Francisco - one that helps them feel rejuvenated and refreshed instantly. The draw is the instant gratification. "You feel the effects almost instantly," said Dr. Ahluwalia.
And he wasn't lying. I got the 30-minute treatment myself - a hybrid of his "Myers Cocktail" treatment with added glutathione for glowing skin - and I'm still feeling the effects a day later. Dr. Ahluwalia mentioned that many of us run on the dehydrated side, without really knowing it - and the effects of dehydration can wear on our bodies in so many ways. Want to reverse that quickly? IV therapy might be for you.
Potential Benefits
- Rehydration
- Boosted and fortified immune system
- Boosted mood
- Improved energy levels, lessened fatigue
- Feeling of strength in your workouts
- Quick post-marathon (or endurance event) recovery
- Cured hangover
- Glowing skin
What Else Is in It?
The one liter of fluid that enters your body is full of electrolytes, but the rest of the vitamins are up to you and the doctor's discretion. In this case, my IV fluid also included B vitamins, magnesium (great for anti-anxiety and muscle recovery), calcium, antioxidants, vitamin C, and glutathione. It's like the healthiest cocktail you can think of, delivered straight to your veins for instant bioavailability (meaning your body can use it immediately, and it doesn't have to be digested or broken down). Dr. Ahluwalia also has a blend for detoxing with anti-nausea medication and anti-inflammatory medication.
(Side bar - I felt like I was peeing straight Vitamin Water afterward. Sorry if that's gross, but you should know that you're going to be making several bathroom trips after your body ingests 1L of fluids in a 30 minute window.)
Is It Safe? Does It Hurt?
Full disclosure: I was *freeeEeeEeEEeaking* out before my treatment - needles and veins are NOT my jam. Despite the fact that I've had several IVs growing up (ironically, I had severe dehyrdation as a kid and had to go to the hospital), I can't get over the fact that someone's pricking into my vein.
Dr. Ahluwalia was a master of distraction, asking me questions while I had my eyes closed to take my mind off of the needle. There was a pinch, and then it was over. From there, you'll feel a cool rush as the fluids start to enter your body. It's actually quite peaceful.
In terms of safety, it's essential that you see a doctor - MD specifically - for this procedure. Even though it's verging on "alternative medicine" and holistic health, you're still opening up your blood stream and introducing a new substance to your body. A San Diego woman died after getting turmeric infused into her veins by a naturopathic doctor, so be sure to research your medical practitioner's background and certifications before getting a treatment.
Dr. David Katz, MD, Founding Director at Yale University Prevention Research Center, told Shape "The risk of infection goes up any time you take IV lines or any medical equipment outside of a standard healthcare setting," which further emphasizes the importance of getting this type of treatment from a medical doctor. Dr. Katz himself offers a Myers Cocktail to patients (like the one I received), but says the effects are more powerful on someone who has a condition like fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome.
Should You Try It?
Do you have a hangover that is so powerfully awful and life-ruining you're willing to shell out a couple hundred bucks for a chance at salvation? This is for you. Did you just run a marathon and you feel like your body just got hit by a semi-truck? This is also for you. Are you nutrient deficient, always tired, or in a physical rut you can't seem to get out of? Might be time to try vitamin infusion. These procedures cost anywhere from $200 to $300, so factor that into your decision making, too.
Dr. Ahluwalia told me that you'll feel more drastic results if you've experienced something like running a marathon or some kind of illness. When your body is more run down and in need of a boost, the effects will be revitalizing. Will this my new post-race recovery ritual? Maybe!
I wasn't in a particularly bad spot yesterday (health-wise), other than feeling somewhat fatigued post-SoulCycle, and even I felt rejuvenated. It was like I had taken a refreshing cool dip in the fountain of youth. My mood was lifted, I felt more energy, and one of my coworkers (who didn't realize I had gotten the treatment) said my skin was glowing. My workout this morning felt supercharged, despite the fact that I got up at 6 - and I'm not a morning person.
So in sum - in my experience, this gives you an awesome boost, you can definitely feel effects (and quickly) and if you're in need of some physical and mental rejuvenation, this can be an excellent treatment for you - so long as you're getting it done safely from a medical doctor.
This Newborn Did Things on His Time - and Didn't Give a Sh*t About His Midwife's Roots
Carrie Hall always puts her patients first, and this dedication was captured in a priceless photo from a recent delivery. During an ordinary day on call, the midwife and nurse from Kentucky decided to take a chance and go for a hair appointment, but a particular little one had a different agenda.
Prior to arriving at the salon, Carrie called the hospital to check in and found out that there was a patient in labor but that she wasn't progressing rapidly. Considering that it would likely be hours until she was needed and that she was right by the hospital, Carrie went ahead with her beauty time. "My hairdresser had just finished foiling my hair when the nurses called and said the patient was ready to deliver," Carrie told POPSUGAR. "The local hospital was five minutes away, so foils and all, I went to catch a baby!"
The patient was ready to push as soon as Carrie arrived, and she delivered her precious baby in less than 20 minutes. "Then, I got back in my car, went back to the shop, and finished my hair!" she said. "Needless to say, momma, baby, and my hair are great!"
Don't Want to Be "That" Mom? Ask Yourself This Before Posting Your Next Kid Pic
We all know that one mom on Facebook or Instagram. She probably means well, but you're this close to blocking or unfollowing her if she posts one more photo of her baby cutely covered in carrots or sitting next to the family cat. It's not that you hate babies; I mean, you have your own, and they're pretty cool. It's not that you hate baby photos; you literally beg your long-distance best friend to post more. It's not even that you hate her baby photos. You've just hit your saturation limit, and it's turned from cute to straight-up annoying. Like call-your-girlfriends-and-talk-behind-her-back annoying.
This chick just doesn't seem to get the etiquette rules of social media even though the rest of us know that, though vague and undefined, they totally exist. Think you might be "that" mom or just want to ensure that you never become her? Here are the four questions you should ask yourself before putting up that next kid photo on your favorite social media site.
- Does everyone need to see this photo, or should I just send it to my husband and mom? I know it's hard to believe, but not everyone is dying to see every single picture you take of your kid. Their dad probably is. Their grandparents definitely are. But your high school boyfriend or that college friend you haven't spoken to since sophomore year? Guaranteed they really aren't that interested. However, if you can name at least five to 10 other people (your three best friends, your brother, your cousin) who you know will "ooh" and "aah" or catch a giggle from the pic, then by all means, go ahead and post it.
- When was the last time I posted a picture of my kid? I once listened to a This American Life podcast interviewing middle schoolers about their Instagram usage, and even they said posting selfies more than once a week was tacky (though they probably used some other word that I had never heard before and still don't understand). And pictures of our kids are essentially that: mom selfies. So follow the younger, more social media-aware generation and realize that over-posting is just uncool in general.
- Where should I post this picture? Let me just preface this by saying the answer probably isn't Facebook, unless it's a photo so amazing that you've decided to make it your profile picture or that's the only social media site you and your friends and family ever use. (If that's the case, please let me introduce you to Instagram.) Is it a one-and-done Snapchat kind of pic? A photo that will look fantastic with an Instagram filter? Or should it go on some other social media site I'm too old to know about? Just remember that your friends who follow you one social media site probably follow you on others as well, so don't unintentionally bombard them with a single shot.
- Is this a photo I would put in an album if I ever had time to make one? This is my favorite question to ask myself because when my kids grow up and ask me where their baby albums are, I'm probably going to have to direct them to Instagram. So when I catch an awesome snap - even if I posted another one three days before - I'm putting it up . . . for their sake.
Melania Trump's Outfit Has More Than a Few Similarities to Queen Rania's
Days after Melania Trump raised some eyebrows with her official White House portrait, she stepped out to meet Queen Rania of Jordan in a more demure dress. Melania chose a structured emerald number with long sleeves while its hem, with a middle slit, hit at the knees. As she walked side by side with Queen Rania through the White House grounds, we noticed that the two actually (sort of) wore the same outfit.
They both opted for a skinny belt to cinch in their dresses and wore classic closed-toe pumps. Though Melania wore black heels to match her waist accessory, Queen Rania took a bolder route with white pumps to match her dress's collar. Her ensemble was as sophisticated as it gets, something we've come to expect from the royal. While the two ladies talked confidential business, their outfits spoke volumes all on their own. This Incredible Harry Potter Wedding Had a Sorting Ceremony, Floating Candles, and More
Harry Potter fans, brace yourselves for a magical wedding that won't disappoint. The amazing team at Crosby + Jon Design were able to perfectly execute an elegant Harry Potter-themed wedding without any cheesy details. It wasn't an easy task to bring the Wizarding world to life for Cindy and Matthew's big day. As huge fans of the franchise, the bride and groom also had a hand in making their wedding as authentic as possible.
When it came to the venue, choosing the right location was critical to setting the scene. To emulate Hogwarts, the design team decided on the Hollywood Castle up in the hills of Los Angeles. But the stone walls and lush garden wouldn't be enough to create an otherworldly wedding. They included long tables reminiscent of the Great Hall with tablerunners made out of the series' book pages - each table setting even included chocolate frogs! Gold and burgundy were of course incorporated throughout the reception.
Upon arrival on the day of the wedding, each guest was called to their respective Hogwarts house (reception table) in a "Sorting Ceremony." A Honeydukes sweets bar was available to enjoy, but the best surprise of all was during Cindy and Matt's first dance. Guests moved from the outdoor celebration to inside the castle where a hundred "floating candles" greeted them above the dance floor. Magical doesn't even do this wedding justice.

How You Can Help Syrians Caught in the Crosshairs of a Tragic Civil War
Update:
Since December, when the United Nations described the situation in Aleppo as "a complete meltdown of humanity," the conflict in Syria between rebel forces and President Bashar al-Assad has spiraled into further calamity. On April 4, Syrian forces reportedly dropped sarin gas on civilians in the rebel-held area of Idlib. While the attack certainly occurred, killing at least 70 people, including children, the Syrian government has denied its involvement and blamed rebel forces. The United States government suggested otherwise in a statement. Below is a list of nonprofits you can donate to or volunteer with who are directly assisting innocent civilians caught in the crosshairs of this tragic civil war.
Original Story:
The conflict between progovernment militia and rebel forces in Aleppo has taken a devastating turn. On Dec. 12, a United Nations human rights office confirmed that at least 82 civilians were killed by Syrian troops as they closed in on what was formerly the nation's largest city. As activists and civilians tweet their final messages from the besieged city, a UN humanitarian spokesperson, Jens Laerke, referred to the dire situation as a "complete meltdown of humanity."
To briefly contextualize Syria's current political climate: Syria has been in the midst of a civil war for five years, one that was triggered by the Arab Spring in 2011.
Russia has gotten involved at the behest of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who is one of Russia's most important international backers. As a result, Russian forces have been bombing rebel-held territories, claiming the attacks are targeting ISIS.
While millions have fled Aleppo since the civil war began, the remaining civilians are currently experiencing daily airstrikes and many have lost their lives in execution-style killings.
The UN Security Council is reportedly holding an emergency meeting on Dec. 13, and CNN's sources inside Aleppo also said a ceasefire and evacuation agreement has been reached. Apparently, civilians and rebels will begin evacuating the war-torn city as soon as the evening of Dec. 13 or Dec. 14. What's happening in Aleppo is cruel and overwhelming, but now is not the time to feel helpless. There are still ways you can help those affected. Ahead, we've listed some organizations that are focused on providing aid:
1. Doctors Without Borders
Doctors Without Borders provides medical assistance to war-torn countries. On Nov. 17, one of the organization's hospitals in Aleppo was hit by an airstrike and more than 20 workers and patients were killed. Despite the tragedy, many aid workers have remained in the city and will continue to help its civilians going forward.
2. The United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees
The UNHCR focuses on providing refugees across the globe with necessities such as hygiene kits, sleeping bags, and medicine. As of Dec. 12, the organization was distributing relief items to the thousands displaced from Aleppo.
3. The White Helmets
The Syrian Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, is made up of volunteers who search locations that have recently been bombed and rescue any trapped civilians. The brave group has saved more than 73,530 people from attacks in Syria. To donate, click here.
4. Oxfam International
Oxfam International is helping those affected by the Syrian civil war by providing showers, clean water, and toilets in refugee camps. It also provides refugees with medical aid, as well as legal counseling. To provide Oxfam with the urgent funds needed for Syrian refugees, click here.
5. Islamic Relief USA
Islamic Relief USA is a volunteer community that provides aid to those who need it regardless of gender, race, or religion. While it is a widespread organization that touches on many global issues, you can choose to donate to Syrian refugees in particular.
6. Planet Syria
If you don't have money to give, you can still help. Planet Syria is a nonviolent activist organization that seeks to spread information on Syria's current political climate and encourage peace talks. Its statement reads, "Slowly, with the support of our real allies, we hope to reconnect with the tolerance and coexistence we have known for millennia and build a Syria better than before." To stand in solidarity with Planet Syria, simply sign its statement and share it online to spread awareness.
Do These 4 Things to Have an Amazing Poop Every Single Day
Is there any better, more satisfying feeling than having a good poop in the morning? You feel lighter, it prevents bloating during the day, and you don't have to worry about feeling embarrassed someone might hear (or smell) you using a public restroom to do your business. So what's the magic trick for taking an amazing poop every single day? Do these four (maybe five) things.
Keep This By Your Side
Keep a reusable water bottle by your side because staying hydrated throughout the day will help to flush out your system and prevent your stool from getting too hard, which can cause constipation. Set reminders on your phone every hour to make sure you drink at least eight ounces.
Move It and Lose It
To keep your digestive system moving along, exercise is the magic key. It makes sense because moving your body and activating your muscles will trigger your digestive system to get moving. It doesn't have to be an intense hour-long run. A little physical activity every single day can bring on the urge to go. Taking a long walk, doing some yoga twists, or doing a little warming up can get things going, and may even be the key to pooping on command, like when you need to go before a race.
Eat the Greens!
Fiber is another important factor in whether you'll go or not. Women need between 25 and 30 grams of fiber a day. That's tough if you're focusing on a high-protein, low-carb diet. So be sure to eat lots of high-fiber foods like fruits such as berries, apples, and pears, and veggies like kale, spinach, and broccoli, whole grains, nuts and seeds, and avocado. Eat these foods every time you eat.
Get Some Me-Time
Sometimes the one reason people don't go every day is because they ignore the urge to go and it passes, or they only visit the bathroom when they have the urge. You've got to give your body time to sit and relax. Choose one time every single day, where you're not rushing to get in done before leaving for work or stressed someone will walk in on you. Give yourself at least 10 minutes of quiet and calm. Put your feet up on a pooping stool to get your bowels in the right position, peruse Facebook or Instagram, check your email, or read a book. You'll be surprised that even though you didn't have the urge to begin with, magical things will happen.
. . . and if that doesn't work . . .
Call on Joe
Some people swear by drinking a hot cup of coffee. Whether it's the heat, the caffeine, or ingesting liquid that stimulates the muscles in your digestive tract to contract, you might want to try drinking a hot cup of coffee in the morning after you exercise and eat a fiber-filled breakfast. Then have a calming seat, and you'll be good to go.

The ABCs of Oil Pulling: What Is It and Should You Try It?
Over the last few days, we've been talking nonstop about the latest detox phenomenon called oil pulling, the act of swishing oil around your mouth. Now, gargling with oil may sound unappealing, but it has been an Ayurvedic practice since ancient times. It's said that oil pulling can do everything from whiten teeth to cure eczema. On the fence about trying it? Read the facts below to see if it's the right treatment for you!
What Is It?
The process is simple. Swish a spoonful of oil (coconut, sunflower, or sesame are most popular) in your mouth for 10 to 20 minutes. Then spit it out in the trash - not down the toilet or in the sink because that will only up your plumbing bill.
How It Works
"People swear by it - that it can fill cavities, relieve toothaches, whiten teeth, freshen breath, absorb harmful bacteria, and cure the common cold," said Dr. Jessica Emery, DMD of Sugar Fix Dental Loft Chicago. "From a dentist's perspective, tooth decay is caused by bacteria and studies suggest that coconut oil treated with enzymes seems to inhibit the growth of certain bacteria." Some would also claim that it fixes acne and brightens complexions.
So in layman's terms, the oil actually pulls germs and bacteria from your gums (and we found one study to back up this up claim). Overall the process is about removing the toxins from the mouth before they can travel to other parts of the body.
Should You Try It?
There is substantial evidence that oil pulling could improve your oral health, and it's a great DIY solution if you run out of mouthwash (be it a bit slimy). But as far as the claims that it's a cure-all, we're going to take our cue from Dr. Weil, who wrote, "Bottom line: Oil pulling won't hurt you, but I wouldn't depend on it to help you improve your overall health or treat significant medical problems."

Meet the 19-Year-Old Activist Fighting Against Child Marriage
Before she was even 15 years old, Memory Banda was already a seasoned activist. When she witnessed firsthand how women in her Malawi community were subjected to sexual initiation (which typically led to impregnation and marriage), Banda felt compelled to change the traditions. It was personal for Banda: her 11-year-old sister was forced to marry the man who impregnated her during such a ritual. Around the same time, Banda encountered the Girls Empowerment Network (GEN). She says the organization empowered her further to take on the challenges that would come with fighting long-established community traditions. Banda worked with GEN on a campaign to stop child marriages, organizing storytelling gatherings for women to share their experiences as child brides.
Banda, now 19, went on to lead a successful campaign to make 21 the legal age for marriage in Malawi. Harsh penalties have also been established for people who break these new laws: men who marry underage girls must pay a significant fine in goats, chickens, and land; parents who marry off their underage daughters are now required to perform public service in their local community.
On March 28, Banda spoke at the Professional Women in Business Conference, taking the stage right before Hillary Clinton. We spoke with Banda before her talk about her experience as an activist, educator, and woman - and her wisdom is astounding.
POPSUGAR: Were you in touch with the Girls Empowerment Network before or after you realized how unjustly marriage was approached in your community?
MB: It was right before. That was the time my little sister got pregnant and was forced to go marry the person who impregnated her. That was when I had all these crazy questions in my mind, like, "What is our culture? Why are girls being affected more?" I looked at the situation with my sister and thought, "No girl has to go through this."
POPSUGAR: You started literacy classes for young women in your community. Was there a particular moment that inspired you to start those classes? Was there ever any pushback from other people in the community about these classes?
MB: I'll take you back a little bit. I imagined what my sister would become, because she wouldn't go to school [after she got married]. People thought that once you get married, that's the end of you as a young person. But I looked at it in a very different way: if a young girl goes into marriage, that doesn't have to be the end of her. And [I initiated] these literacy classes.
I also learned a lot from them. In the literacy classes, these young women who were my age - young mothers - were able to tell me what they were going through . . . the problems they were facing every day. They were going through a series of abuses from their husbands. Financially they were unstable and dependent on the man. That's when I saw how big the problem of child marriage is. I moved on to talking to my traditional leaders about some of the effects and some of the negative traditions.
All these child marriage issues, by the end of the day, you would find the biggest linkages are the cultural norms and cultural traditions in the community. You see that the girl child is not really valued in the community. What she is valued most for is "Oh, you're going to get married, your husband will support your family, your parents will get support." That's the only value seen in girls. When I saw that, I felt like I could change that focal point.
POPSUGAR: What was the conversation with traditional leaders in your community like?
MB: It was hard. It was a bunch of young girls and an organization in the community. You know how an organization can implement a project and after one or two years, it's gone? So the leaders were just like, "We'll wait it out." They were so surprised that we were still talking about this. Personally, the empowerment that I got was very huge. I did not stop because I wanted to see the changes I could make in the community.
The first time I spoke, it was very hard because I was very small. I was very scared. Later on, when people were talking about us as young girls who don't respect the tradition, it was very sad to be told that you're not respecting the tradition of the community. I looked at it in a very different way. I felt like if these people are looking at us in this way, that means we're doing something that is changing us and them as traditional leaders. That's when I felt like, "Yeah, let me go on and do this."
POPSUGAR: You saw some very successful changes directly because of your activism; there's now a legal precedent for when a woman can get married in Malawi. How would you encourage women to keep fighting through the bureaucratic red tape? Do you have any advice?
MB: Absolutely. As women and girls globally, we always have to have that mind of trying. I think that's what has been pushing me all the time. Sometimes, when I sit down and feel like I might not see any positive results from what I am doing, I think about [how] some years back I didn't even know that this was where these things would take me to.
I've always been that kind of person pushing for what I believe in. It's very important that women and the girls all over the world also have to believe in ourselves and push for what we believe in. Even if it doesn't work out, at least you can say that you tried.
"As women, we have the power of influencing. We may not realize we're influencing someone at that moment or influencing something, [but] we have that power."
POPSUGAR: Is there a specific moment or memory when you realized your own strength and power?
MB: It takes me back to the first time I stood up and spoke in front of my traditional leaders - and then when I saw the changes that were coming behind me. When we were advocating for the raise of the legal marriage age, when I saw the support that I got, I was like, "Oh! I can do this!" I think that was the point of self realization. That's when I felt like it is possible for a person to do anything to try to change something.
POPSUGAR: Can you think of an anecdote which speaks to how you have transformed how men in your community view women?
MB At first it was very hard. In my country, there are a lot of patriarchal communities. It's all over, but in Africa, it's even worse. In particular, in Malawi, it's way worse. We have been used to seeing men stand up and speak in front of people. It has always been the norm. But then to see girls standing up - it was challenging that patriarchal tradition in my community.
Men looked at us and said, "Oh, look at them, they won't go far." They were surprised to see that we were still pushing for this, and little by little, we gained their respect and their understanding. Men having been supporting us in this activism in every possible way. It's just amazing to see my fellow young people, the boys just being there and supporting us. When we were doing the amendment of the constitution, our group was actually comprised of so many young men.
POPSUGAR: What are you working on right now? What are your future plans?
MB: First and foremost, I'll continue my advocacy work for girls' rights. Apart from that, I'm looking for future personal development - because I feel like, personally, I have to develop as well. I'm looking forward to finishing school, college.
I was telling my sister that apart from me pursuing my education, I've always wanted to do law, and I feel like I still have to pursue that. When I sit back and see what I've done, it leads to policies and law. For me to go through all these social campaigns, first I had to understand what the laws said, what the acts said, what other policies linked up to all these issues around me. If I go into the field of law, it will be so much easier for me to advocate and work.
POPSUGAR: What do you think the most beautiful thing about being a woman is?
MB: That's a tricky question. I love being a woman, but I don't even know how I can respond to that. There's so many things. I love being a woman because I feel like I've always been an influencer. Most of the time, when I am around men and I pose my ideas, critics come in. By the end of the day you see that you have spoken something that has influenced them. The men think that they're the ones who posed that idea, but I'm the one who did that.
As women, we have the power of influencing. We may not realize we're influencing someone at that moment or influencing something, [but] we have that power. We have that influencing power, and with that power, we can do a lot of things. It feels like trickery, but it's not really a trick. With that power, we can influence a lot of things around us. It's the skill of being a woman.
The 1 Thing Professionally Successful People Do Every Day
When you're engulfed in your career and truly care about succeeding every day, it's easy to get burnt out. There's one thing that professionally successful people do every day that might surprise you: they make time for themselves.
By making time to do things you love outside of work, you are giving yourself the opportunity to have interests that aren't associated with requirements and responsibilities. Plus, you will feel much more recharged and refreshed when you head to the office. In the end, that will lead to more productivity at your job.
Does it seem impossible to make free time? First, choose a specific time you will solely dedictate to something you want to do, whether that be before work, after work, or on the weekend. Then, decide what you want to do. It could be working out, taking a cooking class, or making a DIY you've been dying to try - whatever it is, make sure it will fulfill you.
Dedicate at least three days out of the week to making time for yourself and you'll be feeling happier both inside and outside of the office. Your mind will be fresh, leading to workplace success. Do you set aside free time throughout the week? Let us know how it works for you!
Badass Teen Journalists Write Exposé That Forces Their Principal to Resign
When you're in high school, it's totally normal to wonder about your teachers' and administrators' lives, and with the help of social media, it typically isn't too difficult to dig up some details. But when these high school journalists in Pittsburg, KS, started unearthing information about their newly hired principal, they came up with more questions than answers. The group of editors and reporters from The Booster Redux, the Pittsburg High School newspaper, were gathering facts for a meeting with Principal Amy Robertson when they started to find discrepancies in her qualifications and background.
Principal Robertson was hired on March 6, and after weeks of investigating her background, the newspaper editors published an article about her background on April 3. "She was going to be the head of our school, and we wanted be assured that she was qualified and had the proper credentials," Trina Paul, an editor of the newspaper and a senior at the Kansas school, told The Kansas City Star. "We stumbled on some things that most might not consider legitimate credentials."
The article questioned the authenticity of Corllins University, the private institution where Robertson claimed she received her master's and doctorate degrees from, as there were no traces of this university's existence online. The six student journalists discovered that Corllins is not recognized by the US Department of Education, and it has been referred to as a "diploma mill" where "people can buy a degree, diploma, or certificates."
One day after the article was published, Principal Robertson resigned.
Administrators called a necessary meeting where the Pittsburg Community Schools Board of Education President Al Mendez announced the high school principal's resignation. "In light of the issues that arose, Dr. Robertson felt it was in the best interest of the district to resign her position," Pittsburg Community Schools later wrote in a statement. "The Board has agreed to accept her resignation."
When they started the feature article introducing their new principal, the students had no idea that this is what would come of it. "They were not out to get anyone to resign or to get anyone fired," Emily Smith, the school's journalism adviser, said, sharing how "very proud" she is of her students. "They worked very hard to uncover the truth."
Let's get these kids a Pulitzer for their impressive investigative journalism!

Black Moon Speaks Out on the Lawsuit Against Jeffree Star and Manny MUA
Update:
Black Moon Cosmetics confirmed that the lawsuit has been settled. The terms of the agreement are confidential, but Black Moon shared with POPSUGAR through its legal representative that it "wish[es] them the best of luck in the future and [is] happy to put this behind us."
Update:
A representative of Manny MUA and Jeffree Star sent POPSUGAR an official statement via email: "The issue has been resolved. The Jeffree Star Cosmetics x Manny MUA collaboration will launch as planned on April 8. We are so grateful for the continued support of our fans and are excited to share this moment with them." POPSUGAR has reached out to the legal representation of Black Moon Cosmetics and will update this article should they respond.
Original story:
The highly anticipated collaboration between makeup vloggers Jeffree Star and Manny MUA just experienced a major hiccup: the duo is getting sued. On April 4, a lawsuit was filed against the pair for trademark and copyright infringement on behalf of Black Moon Cosmetics by MacArthur Law Firm. Black Moon Cosmetics is seeking an end to the sales of their products as well as damages and paying for attorney fees.
Black Moon Cosmetics launched in 2015 with a holographic moon logo that looks similar to the holographic moon on Jeffree Star and Manny MUA's new collaboration. In the lawsuit, representatives of Black Moon state that it was the first company to use a holographic moon on a black background on cosmetic packaging and claims that Manny MUA had contacted Black Moon and communicated his admiration of the packaging via a direct message on Instagram saying "absolutely loveeeeee your packaging!"
The lawsuit goes on to state that four months later, Manny MUA first used a similar-looking holographic crescent moon on a black background on his own product packaging. This isn't the first time that Manny MUA has used a comparable logo on packaging. In 2016, the vlogger collaborated with Makeup Geek on an eye shadow palette that featured a holographic crescent moon as well.
Black Moon claims that the vloggers produced packaging for their collaboration with the knowledge that it looks similar to Black Moon's products. Black Moon states that the vloggers' collection is likely to cause confusion with items from Black Moon's company when it launches on April 8. In a statement on MacArthur Law Firm's website, the firm has included a link to screenshots showing comments on an Instagram photo of the collaboration from consumers pointing out the similarities between the logos.
It's unclear if the lawsuit will delay the launch of the collaboration, and neither of the vloggers have issued a statement. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.

These Magical Sheet Masks Will Delight Disney and K-Beauty Fans Alike
Although sheet masks are a great addition to your skincare routine, they aren't always the most exciting to use. Luckily, The Face Shop has launched a collection with a little Disney magic that's so adorable, you'll never forget to nourish your skin, hair, or feet again. The Face Shop x Disney sheet mask collection is the skincare line we've been waiting for since childhood, when we first wished we looked like a Disney princess.
Not only are the packages adorned with some of the world's most beloved characters, but the treatments themselves also reflect the character on the packaging. Rapunzel is on the hair conditioning package so you can achieve her luscious locks, while Snow White's milky skin is attainable with the brightening version. Unsurprisingly, since Ariel lives under the sea, her formula is ultrahydrating.
If princesses aren't your thing, Winnie the Pooh, Mickey, and even Mike from Monsters Inc. are featured on their own treatments. Still, we can't wait to get our hands on the Cinderella foot mask so our toes can look lovely in glass sandals this Summer.
Unfortunately, these treatments aren't sold in the US yet, but you can purchase them on Amazon individually or in a set of three for only $13. Read on to see every item from this enchanting collection.
7 Shopping Secrets Straight From an Aldi Employee
Aldi grocery stores may be famous for their exceptionally low price points, but we're finding out that there's a lot more to the company than just a solid deal on bananas! One employee just revealed tons of secrets about the grocery store and what it's like to work at Aldi in a Reddit AMA, and we're truly intrigued. During the "Ask Me Anything" conversation, the employee spilled the details on how "fresh" the produce is, why the cashiers are always sitting, and those delicious knockoff Girl Scout Cookies. Read on for all of the juicy Aldi shopping secrets, straight from an employee.
There's a weekly deal called Special Buys.
One Irish Reddit user wondered if they featured a weekly special product like they do at the stores in Ireland, which is often a really random product, like "skiing gear or a chainsaw," and the employee said yes. "It's called Special Buys," they shared about the weekly deals. "We just got a bunch of gardening things in yesterday!" So good to know!
They have amazing coffee!
The employee shared that coffee is their favorite thing to buy at Aldi. "We have amazing coffee," they shared. "My favorite is the Honduras and Peru whole bean (single source, organic, and fair trade) and the regular fair trade medium roast. The chocolate (choceur) is better than almost any common brand you can find. Almost everything there is truly comparable to national brands. It's not just a line. There is a very short list of things I don't like." They also sell great K-Cups for Keurig users.
Why do the cashiers always sit?
One curious Reddit user asked why the cashiers are always sitting, and it has absolutely nothing to do with laziness. "The register chairs are a German thing. I'm not 100% sure why. But I like to think we sit because we bust our asses cleaning and stocking when we aren't ringing."
The knockoff Girl Scout Cookies are delicious.
Someone asked why the near-identical Girl Scout Cookies weren't available in all stores, and the employee shared their incredibly impressive self-control when it comes to the cookies. "They are pretty amazing," the employee said about the cookies. "I don't allow myself to buy them often, though. I'll eat the whole thing by myself in like a day or two."
No, you can't get a discount on squished boxes.
Apparently, it's a running joke between shoppers that no one can ever find baking soda in Aldi stores, but we have an answer! "Baking aisle, top shelf," the employee shared, revealing a tip that might be a letdown to some customers. "No, you can't get a discount on the squished boxes."
Hiring is very competitive.
Yup! When someone asked if their experience at Walmart would help in the application process at Aldi, the employee said yes and opened up about the great number of applicants. "A lot of district managers like to hire people with former management experience (that's part of why I got hired)," they shared. "All experience matters of course, so grocery experience is definitely on your side. My store (not in a very large city) receives several hundred applications a year. Two people were hired in my store in the last 12 months. . . I was one of them. It's a tough job. Everyone does everything, including 6am truck shifts. Keeping the store clean and stocked is a constant struggle when it gets as busy as it does, and when there are only 2-3 working at a time. . . well, you can imagine. That's why it's nice to sit while we ring."
Produce is exceptionally fresh.
With such low prices, many shoppers wonder how "fresh" the produce really is, and the employee reassured the curious Reddit users that even though the produce is less expensive than other grocery stores, it's great quality. "We get produce deliveries every morning," they shared. "The turn around is very fast, so we don't have much waste. We just don't over-order, I guess. It's more typical that we are all out of broccoli by the time we close than it is that we have several extra cases that just end up in the trash." At this employee's location, local restaurant employees will even come in to purchase produce. "We often have local restaurants come in to buy produce to hold them over until deliveries come in. They have mentioned that it's cheaper than their wholesalers. I don't have actual numbers, but bananas and lettuce are big sellers in that area."
But if you're still wondering why shoppers are required to purchase a cart for a quarter, check out more Aldi secrets from another candid employee.
