If Hillary Clinton Can Accept the Election Results, Why Can't Donald Trump?

Hillary Clinton has accepted the results of the presidential election, but she's unsure if the president truly has. On May 2, Clinton sat down with Christiane Amanpour at a Women for Women International event for an interview that touched on foreign affairs, North Korea, and President Donald Trump's tweets.

In one moment that has since garnered attention, Clinton began by addressing her election loss. "The reason why I believe we lost," she said, "were the intervening events in the last 10 days." Clinton added, "Remember, I did win more than three million votes than my opponent. So, it's like, really?"

Following some applause, Amanpour referenced the president's social media tendencies and joked, "I see a tweet coming!" To that point, Clinton said, "Fine! Better that than interfering in foreign affairs. If he wants to tweet about me, I'm happy to be the diversion, because we've got lots of other things to worry about." Adding, "He should worry less about the election - and my winning the popular vote - than some other things that would be important for the country."

Clinton is likely referring to the president's recent tweets about the election. On April 23, Trump tweeted, "New polls out today are very good considering that much of the media is FAKE and almost always negative. Would still beat Hillary in popular vote."

Watch Clinton's response in its entirety, below.

This Little Prince Beauty Line Is Out of This World

Many of us fell in love with the sweet story of The Little Prince as a child, which points out the silly nature of adults. The imaginative story has captured the hearts of people all over the world, and has now even inspired a Korean beauty collection with Swiss Pure.

We'll have to admire this collection via Instagram and hope that the next K-beauty collaboration will be stateside. Read on to see the charming products.

This Viral Tweet Sums Up the Scary Future of American Health Care

On May 4, the House successfully voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, with the American Health Care Act (AHCA). While many Republicans celebrated the highly controversial bill, many liberals took to their social media accounts to contest the scary reality that if the bill is passed into law, it would potentially prevent people with preexisting conditions from affording health care.

Lon Harris, editor-in-chief of Insider newsletter, summed up the fears of many when he questioned if Americans might soon have to seek out financial help using GoFundMe campaigns to pay for their medical expenses. "So how long until GoFundMe is our nation's leading health care provider?" he asked in a now-viral tweet, which quickly racked up over 25,000 retweets and 53,000 "likes".

While it looks unlikely that the AHCA will successfully pass the Senate in its current form, it's evident from the amount of reactions to Harris's tongue-in-cheek tweet that many Americans - both Democrats and Republicans - are feeling passionate, and rightfully so, about future their healthcare coverage.

My Mom Was Not My Best Friend Growing Up, and I'm Glad

My mom wasn't the "cool" mom. Sorry mom, love ya. Growing up, I was the kid with the strict parents. Painfully strict. I was grounded . . . a lot. Sometimes for stuff that even now I think was a little ridiculous (a week for saying "shut up"? Really, Mom and Dad?). Other things, like sneaking out to go to a party with boys my friends and I met on the beach . . . well that month-long grounding doesn't even really seem like enough in hindsight. By the time I was allowed to watch R-rated movies, I knew the spoilers for them all anyway since everyone else on the planet had seen them already, and I snuck episodes of my favorite "adult" shows while my parents were out of the house. My homework was done before I could go out, my bedtime was set in stone, and talking back to my mom or dad was the ultimate crime. Cursing was completely out of the question; I'm still not allowed to say f*ck in front of them. Not that it stops me.

So no, my mom wasn't my best friend growing up. She wasn't even my friend. She was my mom, and I am so, so glad she was.

I had plenty of friends with moms or dads who took the "I'm your friend, not just your parent" route. We went to their houses for the parties, we took advantage of their leniency, we had our first kisses (etc.) on their couches. We sipped our first alcoholic beverages there (Mike's Hard Lemonade, someone kill me), because "if we were going to drink" they'd "much rather us do it in the house."

But my mom enforced the rules, she held me accountable, and she stuck to her word and her law - even if I didn't always (or ever) agree it with it or like it. She called me out on my bullsh*t, and trust me, I was chock-full of it back then. Yes, I had to stay in and work on projects and papers while my friends half-assed their homework and were able to do fun things without me. Yes, I was the one who couldn't go to the "cool" aka sketchy parties where things that should not have been going down went way, way down. And yes, my mom and I steadily butted heads throughout my teenage years, racking up so many slammed doors (on my part), tear-filled tantrums (me again), and long phone calls (her with her own mom, me b*tching to my friends) that I genuinely lost count around age 14.

I wasn't complaining so much when report cards came back and I was lining up my As in a nice row. Or when the "friends" my mom limited my time with because she didn't trust them screwed up time and again (legally, academically, socially, etc.), and I wasn't there with them because I was at home. Grounded, probably. But home.

But here's the thing. When those same friends - whom I loved despite (and because of) their antics - screwed me over and broke my heart, my mom never uttered anything close to "I told you so." Instead, she held me while I cried, she promised me it would get better, she finally let me watch those episodes of Buffy and she sat there and watched them all with me. When I was tearing out my hair because math was ruining my soul (not much has changed there), she was the one telling me grades aren't everything (yes something, but not everything), she was the one taking me to and from tutoring to try and help me, she was the one trying to figure out that damn equation that she didn't know the answer to any more than I did. Maybe I wasn't giving her every juicy detail of my private life, but she knew the big stuff, and most importantly, she took the time to know me. Even though I fought against her every single step of the way.

My mom wasn't my best friend then, but you can sure as hell bet she is now. I grew up being taught to respect her as a parent, but somewhere along the way, and because of all that she did for me as I grew up, I came to respect her as person, as a woman, and as a friend.

I look back at all those times she held firm on what seemed like her harsh rules, and I see her side of things. How hard it must have been for her to feel like the villain when all she was doing was what she believed in her heart was the right thing as a mother. How many times she probably wished she could've taken the easy route and said "yes" when saying "no" was so much more difficult. But she didn't. Maybe she wavered behind closed doors, but never in front of me. I know where I got my stubbornness from, among many other qualities. She and my dad were steady forces in my life, and though we are complete opposites on (nearly) everything even to this day, it was worth the ups and downs of adolescent angst to get to where we are now. My parents were parents when I needed them to be, and now as an adult, I've gotten to know them again, this time as my friends.

This Gorgeous Island Off the Amalfi Coast Looks Like a Dolphin - and You Can Visit!

Italy's Amalfi Coast is a magical destination in itself, but there's even more reason to make the trip. A dolphin-shaped island called Li Galli is a small, private archipelago made up of three atolls between Capri and Positano. The island is also known as Le Sirenuse because of its mythological background. It's believed that this is where Odysseus from Homer's Odyssey escaped the voices of the Sirens who would lure sailors to their death.

It wasn't until the 1920s when a Russian ballet dancer and choreographer named Léonide Massine bought the ancient Roman site, bringing it to its current fame. Another acclaimed Russian dancer, Rudolf Nureyev, purchased Li Galli in 1988, nearly a decade after Massine's death. One of the villas Rudolf redecorated has been maintained since, complete with Turkish mosaics and tiles and lavish details. Though the island has only been recently opened to the public, it mainly serves as a luxurious and private rental property for the extremely wealthy. The resort features Nureyev's three-bedroom mansion, a ballroom-turned-villa, a chapel, an infinity saltwater pool, and more - all of which can be rented for a humble $60,400 (€55,000) to $164,800 (€150,000) a week. Though, prices could've even been raised since those figures were released in 2015.

In addition to a private helicopter available for use, there's also a motorboat and a yacht in case you get island fever. And the best part of all is your small staff there to serve your every need from breakfast to dinner, at any time of day.

Us normal people can still enjoy the beauty of Li Galli (at least for a day) from the fancy restaurant and bar. But hey, we'll take it. If you're looking for a more attainable island to rent, check out this private property in Belize that's available for less than $500. See the amazing photos!

On a Scale of 1-10, Millie Bobby Brown's All-Natural Makeup Routine Is an 11

When Millie Bobby Brown shared her makeup routine on a recent Instagram live video, we were pretty darn blown away. We're so used to seeing the young actress with a fake-blood-stained nose and dirt-covered cheeks for her role on Stranger Things, so it was beyond refreshing to see the star off screen and in her element among some of her favorite makeup products. A self-proclaimed minimalist, the actress was honest and open about her makeup-applying skills in the video, saying, "I'm not amazing, but I can do it." OK, could she be any more adorable?!

Throughout her tutorial, Millie shared a few vital tips we can totally get behind, such as cleaning your brushes every day and eating avocado for healthy skin. The 13-year-old reiterated how she doesn't apply makeup every single day, but when she does, simplicity is key. "Less is more in makeup," she said. "Embrace your features. I have a freckle here and I never cover it up."

While applying her makeup (and singing a song here and there), Millie gave us quick glimpses of a few of the products, and they're surprisingly super affordable! Though we couldn't see every item she used, we noticed how some of the ones she showed on camera are a few of our personal favorites. Ahead, shop the must-have products Millie uses.

"Are high-waisted swimsuits still a thing?" We get this question a lot and the simple answer is yes, they most definitely are. People often write them off as just another trend that only celebrities like Taylor Swift can rock, but they're actually one of the most flattering swimsuit styles out there. Not only do they elongate your legs, but they enhance your curves. Who wouldn't want that? But because not all swimsuits are made the same, we came up with a list of 12 brands that make the best high-waisted swimsuits. Scroll down to shop our top picks.

The Office's Jenna Fischer and Rainn Wilson Reunite For Lunch, Unfortunately Not at Chili's

The Office might have ended in 2013, but the tight-knit cast is just as close as ever - just ask Jenna Fischer and Rainn Wilson! The pair, who played Pam Beesly and Dwight Schrute on the long-running comedy, linked up for a cute lunch date on Thursday (no word on whether or not they went to Chili's, but fingers crossed). Jenna graciously shared a selfie from their outing on Twitter, using one of Pam's quotes as the caption:

Just last year Jenna went to see her other costar from The Office, John Krasinski, do his thing in his play Dry Powder, and also got a sweet shout-out from Angela Kinsey (aka Angela Martin), who called Jenna her "anchor through life." Although we still miss watching Pam, Jim, Dwight, Michael, and the rest of the Dunder Mifflin gang each week, at least we have their frequent reunions to fill our hearts with joy.

Kim Kardashian Basically Just Confirmed Kendall Jenner's Romance With A$AP Rocky

All the attention was on Kendall Jenner at the Met Gala on Monday night thanks to her revealing naked dress, but she only had eyes for rumored boyfriend A$AP Rocky. Although the rapper walked the red carpet with Gwyneth Paltrow rather than the Pepsi fan, one of Kim Kardashian's Snapchats from the night gave her followers an intimate glimpse into their potential romance. A$AP can be seen holding onto Kendall's butt while she adjusts his tie, as Kylie Jenner dutifully captures a photo of the moment.

Earlier in the night the pair was seen hugging and laughing as they made their way into the exhibit and looked pretty cozy in the bathroom selfie Kylie shared on Instagram. Kendall and A$AP first sparked dating rumors in February 2016 when he attended one of her events for PacSun, with a source telling Us Weekly that their relationship "is the real deal." Although Kim's Snapchat is about as close as Kendall herself has come to confirming the rumors, they were also spotted out in Paris together. Sure seems like something is going on!

Jennifer Lopez can never do wrong with her fashion choices and know she's opening up about how she chooses all those looks we obsesses over. The star, who looked like a million bucks, spoke with Vogue's André Leon Talley on her way into the event about how she chooses her outfits.

"It always has to be interesting and sexy," she said in the video interview. Well, consider J Lo's goal accomplished, because we couldn't pick any two more perfect words to describe her 2017 style. Watch the video above to see what else she had to say - and get a glimpse at her date, Alex Rodriguez.

The Sneaker You Should Buy Based on Your Favorite Supermodel

One of the rules to mastering a model's off-duty look? Thou shalt have a pair of sneakers. Whether the ladies are heading to the gym for a boxing session or attending Fashion Week, they rock their favorite styles with pride. Models like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid probably have a lust-worthy sneaker collection, but we've noticed that there are certain brands they gravitate toward most. And (hint, hint), it's not Adidas's Stan Smith.

Though that sneaker reigned supreme in 2016, there were many more options out there that were just as cool. Your favorite It girls have branched out, sporting brands like Superga and Puma with their outfits. Read on to see which sneakers the ladies would likely vote for as their favorite, then pick up a pair for yourself to re-create their looks.

Aldi Has 2 New Boozy Popsicles You'll Want to Try This Summer!

Adults won't be able to resist Aldi's yummy new popsicle treats. The Prosecco and Peach Bellini Popsicle and the Gin and Tonic Popsicle each cost less than $5 and have 4.5 percent ABV, the same amount of alcohol in the average beer. If that wasn't enough to get your taste buds ready, the Prosecco and Peach Popsicle has 38 percent Prosecco and 18 percent peach fruit puree from concentrate.

As for the Gin and Tonic Popsicle? Expect to taste 11 percent gin with a "zingy lemon twist." The only catch is these popsicles are only available in the UK at the moment, but here's hoping that Aldi can hear our excitement all the way across the pond and bring these alcoholic desserts to the States sooner rather than later!

11 New Books Worth Reading in May

You know what I love about the Spring and Summer seasons? It's suddenly socially appropriate to break out the chick lit (a term I use endearingly). Fall and Winter are for heavy books; when I head to the admittedly shady part of the beach, I like to bring a fun, easy novel with me. Maybe I got it at the airport. Who knows? This May, plenty of new books are being released, and amongst the recipe compilations and self-help guides, there are a handful of truly interesting reads. Here are my picks for the month ahead!

Beloved '90s Brand Tony & Tina Is Back - and It's Better Than Ever

One of the most memorable beauty lines of my youth was Tony & Tina. Founded in 1997 by Anthony Gill and Cristina Bornstein, the collection was inspired by alternative medicines, including color therapy, energy healing, aromatherapy, and crystals. The popular range consisted of the most incredible holographic lip glosses (which would be so popular today!), chakra-awakening nail lacquers, loose glitters, and many more products that I used to save up for to buy at my local Sephora. To my great disappointment, the brand disappeared around 2004.

Tony & Tina was ahead of its time: the intersection of health, beauty, and self-care is one that cosmetics companies are capitalizing on right now. That's why I was so pleasantly surprised to learn that after a long break, Tony & Tina is back! According to Bornstein, she'd been trying to resurrect the brand for a while, but the two founders wanted to do it their way.

"We asked ourselves, 'What makes us happy?'" she told me via email. "The answer was bringing healing products and a healing self-care lifestyle to as many people as we can so we can contribute positive energy to our collective consciousness."

Just as its fans have spent the past decade maturing their tastes, so have the founders behind the brand. Bornstein shared that Tony & Tina (2.0, as she called it) is taking the original alternative inspirations behind the brand to the next level.

"During our hiatus, I dove into the healing world and became a certified Eden energy medicine practitioner," she shared. (She's already a reiki master, meditation guide, and a self-care specialist.) Meanwhile, Gill had become a biodynamic agriculturist in New Zealand. "He encouraged me to create a line of hand-crafted, energy-infused products," she said. The timing was perfect, as her clients had started asking her for specific healing treatments.

The revamped Tony & Tina line, which is available at luxe beauty retailer Credo, features small-batch, handcrafted products that are each infused with sound therapy, crystal therapy, energy medicine, reiki, and positive intentions. This includes a delicious multiuse hair, body, and skin care formula called Coconut Bliss ($55) and Healthy Aura sprays ($43), which have a small clear quartz crystal in the bottle.

Along with every beauty product, the brand is also helping its customers along their self-care journeys with tools paired with the purchased item, like video tutorials on how to support and protect your energy and guided meditations. Bornstein creates this content herself and has expanded it to a "self-care moments with Tina" series on the brand's Instagram.

When I asked Bornstein what she thought about the sudden trend of mindfulness and energy healing, considering that she's been ascribing to it for decades, she told me, "There is an energetic transformation taking place on our planet right now. Many people are awakening to their own inner-wisdom and their inner-healer." She added, "Self-care will absolutely change your life, but you must be committed to it . . . it's like working out, except it's an energy workout."

In addition to using Tony & Tina products in conjunction with her tutorials, she recommended deep breathing methods and Eden energy techniques. "Even a smile works," she told me.

If you're reading this and have been patiently awaiting the return of the brand's iconic makeup products (just like me!), you may be in luck. "We would love to bring it all back - we LOVE creating!" Bornstein said. Someday, the founders hope to re-create the original cosmetics lineup with clean, eco-friendly formulas and packaging, as well as an expanded lineup of self-care items, like color therapy sheets.

"The ultimate big dream is to get land in upstate NY and create an eco-healing center with a farm, so we can grow our own herbs and ingredients and teach self-care and many other modalities," she said.

The Joy of Sex Lasts Long After You Have It - Find Out What the "Afterglow" Is

It's no secret that intimacy is vital for sustaining a relationship, but research shows that sex may have even more benefits than we think. In addition to feeling good and making reproduction possible, sex was also found to be key in bonding couples and long-term relationship satisfaction.

A study published in the journal Psychological Science discovered what they call a sexual "afterglow," which is the sexual satisfaction couples felt up to 48 hours after having sex. Andrea Meltzer, psychological scientist and the study's lead author, further added that those who experienced this afterglow also reported "higher levels of relationship satisfaction several months later."

To conduct this study, researchers conducted two studies and looked at 96 newlywed couples for one and 118 newlywed couples for the other. For the first part, which lasted 14 days, couples recorded in a daily diary whether or not they had sex with their partners that day. They were also asked to rate their level of sexual satisfaction as well as how satisfied they were with their partner, marriage, and relationship that day. On average, couples reported having sex four days out of the 14-day period.

Regardless of the participants' sexual frequency, relationship length, gender, age, and other factors, "sex on a given day was linked with lingering sexual satisfaction over time." Couples reported experiencing higher levels of sexual satisfaction on the same day of having sex and continued to feel so even two days later.

Although marital satisfaction overall did decrease during the follow-up study four to six months after, those who reported high levels of afterglow were still in better shape than other participants. Their satisfaction levels were also more consistent across the period of the study.

As a result, sex was proven to help enhance the quality of relationships by keeping couples connected even between sexual acts. So, what are you waiting for?

Paris Jackson's Met Gala Dress Might Have Meant More Than You Think

Paris Jackson arrived at the Met Gala with the Calvin Klein crew, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Julianne Moore, and, of course, Raf Simons. She was dressed in a Calvin Klein By Appointment dress, a sleek black midi belted with a slash at the midriff, and Tiffany & Co. jewels. Just a few days later, Page Six reports that 19-year-old Paris, who recently signed with IMG Models landed a seven-figure contract with Calvin Klein.

It wouldn't be too far off, since Paris was also spotted hanging out with Millie Bobby Brown, the current face of Raf's By Appointment campaign. We reached out to the brand for a statement and will update when we receive confirmation on the news. Until then, let's just admire Paris's Met Gala dress one last time from every angle.

We'd Be on Board With 13 Reasons Why Season 2 If It's About This

Netflix has us totally conflicted about a second season of 13 Reasons Why, which they are apparently going for (though it's not totally confirmed yet). On the one hand, the story is so much better as a one-off, but on the other hand, I wouldn't hate being reunited with the suddenly famous cast. The biggest challenge is making a second season work. What will it be about? We already have a few ideas for where the show can go in another installment, but I actually have one idea that I think would work best without sacrificing the integrity of the original iteration. And it's this: season two should be about Alex's struggle.

To recap: Alex is one of Hannah's reasons for killing herself. By the end of season one, after all the grief of being part of her death, the loss of Jessica as his girlfriend, and the obvious depression expressed throughout the time we know him, Alex attempts to take his own life. There's a major irony in the fact that Hannah explicitly tells her tormenters that they missed all the signs - and then the same community, and we as the audience, miss all the signs about Alex.

Thus: season two could go back through the exact same time frame we've already seen, but through a totally different perspective: Alex's. We'd learn more about his home life and how having a strict cop for a father has influenced him. We'd find out where his self-esteem had to be to leave his integrity behind and write that list, then start hanging out with the kind of guys he's not. It would be our chance to see another view of the characters we already knew, but in a fresh way. By the way, this is one of the only scenarios that would make sense with the news that Hannah would still be in season two.

The series was a more fleshed-out version of the book, with an opportunity to develop the characters more, so this direction would just be building on that same theme. Of course, the first season leaves Alex's fate open-ended, so this means Alex would survive, which star Miles Heizer told The Hollywood Reporter he thinks is what happens. Heizer himself gives another reason Alex's story deserves a second look, saying, "That's another subject that's very rarely shown onscreen and is probably a lot more common than people think it is. People attempting to take their lives and it not happening, I'm sure that will bring a crazy set of issues. It would be interesting to go into that." Alex surviving would let the show teach a different, equally valid lesson.

Revolutionizing Wellness: How a Text a Day Can Keep the Doctor Away

Sometimes all it takes to boost your happiness and lessen your loneliness is one uplifting text from a trusted ally, and in fact, receiving an encouraging text message first thing in the morning can do wonders for your mental health. Shine founders Marah Lidey and Naomi Hirabayashi are here to prove this - that the future of wellness lies in using technology to reach the masses, especially younger millennials who have grown up relying on technology in order to connect with others.

The idea behind Shine is simple: enter your cell phone number and you'll be signed up to receive a text every morning with a gentle reminder to laugh more, take a deep breath, seek out your most positive friends, keep your eyes on the prize, or any number of other motivational nudges. A sample text: "Productivity Guilt: Productivity guilt (shame over unfinished tasks) stresses us to do it *all* > what matters. Today, resist the hamster wheel; focus on impact."

One text per morning may seem like a small gesture but it can have a surprisingly powerful effect. Even the subtlest of mindset shifts can change the course of your whole day.

As Marah and Naomi celebrate the one-year anniversary of this wellness service that blossomed out of a friendship between co-workers, we asked them to reflect on their journey so far and to share what they think is different about the millennial's approach to mental health.

POPSUGAR: What is the main purpose behind Shine?

Marah Lidey and Naomi Hirabayashi: Shine makes well-being more accessible. Every morning, Shine sends you a messaging experience to help you live your best life with intention and self-compassion.

PS: What sparked this idea of sending a daily text with a brief note of encouragement?

ML and NH: We met while working together over six years ago and instantly became close friends. Through our friendship, we leaned on each other to work through personal and professional milestones. We realized how lucky we were to find a constructive peer-based support system for our daily well-being and quickly saw that nothing like that existed at scale.

When folks struggled with a breakup, a toxic boss, financial stress, fears about the future, and just normal, everyday highs and lows, they would to turn to media or to pricey options like coaching. There was no preventative, technology-driven solution that kept up with people as often as they were thinking about their well-being.

Once we had the "aha" moment to combine our expertise in messaging and in the peer-based support we gave one another, Shine was a no-brainer. The formula comes from (1) our belief in the latest wave of psychology that's millennial-driven called "Intentionality" (ex: looking forward; aspirations), focusing less on symptoms and more on acceptance and moving forward, and (2) understanding that millennials are busy balancing hundreds of things per day and need a product that's on the go and sounds like a friend.

PS: Why do you think Shine resonates so strongly with people and why now, in particular?

ML and NH: We're at an exciting tipping point socially and economically. To date, wellness as a service and as an industry has been more aspirational than accessible, like a luxury that gets unlocked when you have everything else "figured out" or if you make a certain salary.

But, not anymore. Our generation is at the forefront of driving demand for a more accessible solution; we want a service that keeps up with our well-being at the frequency at which we think about our own health and wellness, which is all the time. We want a service that's personalized, on the go, and sounds like a friend, not a "top-down" guru that doesn't get our world or our day-to-day hustle.

PS: Some might say that technology has intensified a sense of loneliness in our society, though you both are clearly committed to using tech in positive ways to connect. How else might we use tech for good or to combat feelings of isolation?

ML and NH: We're firm believers in the power of technology to build community and connections, not erode them. Specifically, we're fascinated by technology, and in particular messaging, to create mass intimacy.

By being on Shine, you're connecting 1:1 with Shine, and you also know there are hundreds of thousands of other users who are seeking the same well-being support from Shine. With that knowledge, we can normalize the daily human struggles that we often feel we're alone in. Before this state of connectedness through technology, it would be easy to feel like you were completely alone in what you were going through. From companies like Shine to influencers like Lilly Singh who connect with her fans over humor or mental health to Reddit's FML forum, you're only a step or click away from feeling connected over the #struggle.

Our advice? Seek out the good and elevate conversations in your network around how technology is helping you connect to further inspire companies and industry leaders to invest and innovate around tech for impact.

PS: What advice would you give someone who wants to turn her side hustle into a full-time business? What do you wish you had known before you launched the business as a full-time venture?

ML and NH: Don't rely on traditional versions of leadership to validate that you deserve to start your own company or take that leap. Actively search for examples of leadership that inspires you specifically, be it in another person's style, personality, race, gender, or background.

Get Your Hands on Trader Joe's New Canned Wines Before They All Sell Out

Trader Joe's just released the greatest new product for our Summer enjoyment: cans of sparkling wine in both white and rosé. Called Simpler Wine, the Italian-imported vino frizzante (sparkling wine) comes in four-packs for $4. According to the website, the white has "notes of juicy honeydew and fresh-cut herbs" and should be paired with "fresh bread and olives or Parmigiano Reggiano". The rosé contains "mineral notes and red fruit flavors" and is recommended for "fresh pasta, seafood, or sweets." Our nearest TJ's sold out of these beverages so we have yet to try them for ourselves. Therefore, stock up on a pack or two if you see them at your store. While we wish Trader Joe's would come up with a packaged frosé Otter Pop . . . we'll gladly settle for these convenient cans of bubbly.

How to Get Sexy, Cellulite-Free Legs This Summer - According to Top Derms

Image Source: Popsugar Photography / Sheila Gim

On the first warm-weather day of Spring, I went to work in a sundress for the first time since last year. As I sat at my desk, I looked down at my previously pants-covered legs and was horrified. They looked like they were covered in dust, were paler than any other part of my body, and somehow had become uneven and splotchy. Winter had done quite a number on my normally smooth, carefully buffed and bronzed legs.

If you recently had a similar experience, don't freak out. I turned to dermatologists Dr. Dendy Engleman and Dr. Heidi Waldorf to find out how to treat some common skin issues, like cellulite and varicose veins. You and I won't have to wear jeans in 85 degree weather to hide the damage cold weather did to our stems.

Keratosis Pilaris

You know those raised bumps you see on the back of your arms, legs, and sometimes even your butt? That isn't acne but actually keratosis pilaris (KP), sometimes referred to as chicken skin. The bumps are caused by a buildup of keratin in hair follicles, causing rough plugs.

According to Dr. Engleman, treating these harmless but unsightly bumps isn't difficult. "The most important concept of controlling KP is moisturizing the skin," Engleman explains. She also expressed that products containing chemical exfoliants can also help the problem. "My favorite products involve ingredients that can break up that excess keratin buildup such as alpha hydroxy acids, like lactic acid and glycolic acid, and beta hydroxy acids like salicylic acid."

If the problem persists, Dr. Engleman suggests trying retinoids, which are vitamin-A-derived and promote cell turnover. "Retinoids can gently exfoliate to remove dead skin cells if hydroxy acids don't give a noticeable improvement."

Dry, Scaly Skin

If you've noticed an uneven, scaly texture on your legs, it means the skin cells aren't falling off like they're supposed to. This can happen during cold weather or after using products with drying or irritating ingredients. Dr. Waldorf suggests exclusively using gentle products to prevent this. "The best way to prevent and treat scaly skin is to use a gentle cleanser that won't strip your skin, like Dove Body Wash ($6), followed by a moisturizer like Eucerin Smoothing Repair Lotion ($9)."

Discoloration

Sometimes a dark mark can be left behind on our skin from a cut or bug bite, known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. After your skin is red, itchy, or swollen, the skin can heal and look brown afterward. Unfortunately, dark marks on our legs fade slower than on our face and can last months.

Although you can use laser treatments to get rid of them, Dr. Waldorf suggests waiting until the Fall or Winter for these treatments. Instead, there's an easier route for even skin tone: "In the meantime, moisturize, [and] use alpha hydroxy acid and acid moisturizers to improve the pigment. [You can also] cover the spots with leg makeup or self tanner."

Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are dilated blood vessels caused by increased pressure on the veins. The causes of the pressure can range from standing for too long to pregnancy or even obesity. Dr. Engleman explains that there are two procedures available to get rid of these veins depending on the severity. "Sclerotherapy is the most common treatment and it involves injecting a solution into the vein that forces it to collapse, which stops blood flow. The vein will turn into a scar and fade after a few weeks."

If you have smaller spider veins, Dr. Engleman suggests laser treatment because these veins are harder to inject.

Cellulite

Cellulite happens when pockets of fat beneath the skin become squashed against tissue and create a dimpled appearance. Almost everyone has some amount of it, and according to Dr. Waldorf, it isn't connected to being overweight. If you'd like to reduce the appearance of cellulite, however, there are a few procedures and methods to remedy the appearance.

Injections
Dr. Waldorf suggest a filler such as Sculptra or Radiesse in conjunction with a procedure like ulthera. "[The filler]s stimulate improvement and filling of the dimples [while] ulthera tightens tissue.

Dry Brushing and Exfoliation
If injections sound too extreme, Dr. Engleman suggests trying to exfoliate the area. "Exfoliation helps to smooth the appearance [of cellulite] by increasing blood flow to the area and reducing inflammation." One method the doctor suggests is dry brushing.

Ingrown Hairs

More frequent hair removal during the Summer months leads to a lot of painful, red ingrown hairs. Dr. Engelman has some suggestions for those more prone to razor bumps and irritation. "You may want to exfoliate the area to ensure that the hair can come cleanly out. Also, try shaving the way your hair grows. Shaving against hair growth gives you a closer shave but the blunt-tipped end of hairs can grow back into the skin rather than up and out."

If those tips don't help, it may be time to try depilatory creams, laser hair removal, or electrolysis.

If you already have razor burn or ingrown hairs, Dr. Waldorf has a solution. "If you have redness or irritation, rub in an over-the-counter 1 percent hydrocortisone cream," the doctor explains.

Bruises

Some of us bruise like a peach. The black-and-blue marks that are a result of our clumsy behavior are a result of pooled blood under the skin due to trauma that causes blood vessels to burst. Dr. Engelman suggests a few oils that can improve the appearance. "If you're prone to bruising, topical arnica or helichrysum oil can help with the swelling and bruising by aiding the reabsorption of the blood."

This High School Celebrated Meme Day Because the Internet Is a Strange and Beautiful Thing

For some people, memes aren't just jokes on the internet - they are a way of life. If you exist in today's world, you've definitely used a meme or two to explain how you're feeling about your day. Teens totally do the same, which is why one high school created a whole spirit day around memes.

Olympian High School in Chula Vista, California, recently celebrated senior spirit week. One of the day's themes centered around dressing as a meme. 18-year old student Nicole Pinto, who tweets as Twitter user h0neymami, posted one tweet about the day that quickly went viral. The video shows several people as memes like mannequin head, math lady, tiny hands, lime cat, and Salt Bae. Her tweet currently has more than 4,700 retweets and 9,000 likes.

In another tweet, Allan Dizon posted photos of the group, which you can see above. As you can clearly see, these teens took meme day seriously. Some people on Twitter were wishing their school had a meme day.

To be perfectly honest, we wish we had a meme day at the office, too.

Country Star Cam Shares the Secret to a Strong Long-Distance Marriage

If We Had Mary-Kate Olsen's Earrings, We'd Wear Them on Repeat, Too

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen recently celebrated New York City's Studio in a School wearing their usual uniform. Just a few days before, the sisters attended the Met Gala wearing eclectic outfits in the bohemian style they helped popularize. At this particular event on May 3, however, Mary-Kate and Ashley opted for more polished ensembles.

Ashley wore a minimalistic floor-length blazer coat, while Mary-Kate wore The Row's Muedi Wool-Blend Coat in blue. The most striking element of Mary-Kate's outfit was her emerald green tassel earrings. Upon further investigation, we realized that she wore the same stunning jewels at the Youth America Grand Prix Gala just one month before.

When it comes to classic accessories like these, you can pretty much wear them with anything - be it a long blazer, a boho dress, or denim cutoffs and a tee. Ahead, browse pictures from the event and then shop similar styles.

The Expectations vs. the Realities of Mother's Day

We moms can be pretty sentimental about our job as mommies, so when the one day a year that is slated to celebrate us rolls around, we tend to think big. But just because we think big doesn't always mean it pans out that way. I personally don't expect much for Mother's Day, as my husband's birthday usually falls on the same day - and ever since that one year where we argued about whose job it was to get the other's coffee, we have both lowered our expectations dramatically. The truth is that grand plans are nice, but I'm just happy to spend time with the ones that I love (though I do enjoy it a lot more if it involves a few extra hours of sleep) because as with most parts of motherhood, there are many ways in which our expectations of Mother's Day just don't meet our reality.

The Best Pictures From the MTV Movie Awards Over the Years

Adam DeVine is set to host, and there are already some incredible presenters lined up, including This Is Us's Milo Ventimiglia and the cast of 13 Reasons Why. Get ready for the big night with a look at some of our favorite photos from all the golden-popcorn ceremonies, including Kristen Stewart sharing the stage with Chris Hemsworth, Cameron Diaz and Victoria Beckham in their younger years, and much more.

Yes, It Is YOUR Job to Make Your Husband Happy

Happiness is your job, because love starts with you. Read on to understand why, from Andrea Miller for YourTango.

Why do so many of us buy into the myth that marriage is supposed to make us happy?

I'm glad to see how marriage has evolved. It used to be much more transactional - happening principally to foster economic benefits or social standings or to produce children - but nowadays people typically choose to commit themselves legally to each other for far more noble goals. More and more people marry with the intention of experiencing lasting love and companionship.

Unfortunately, too many women I know get married and somehow, perhaps unconsciously, expect their husbands to make them happy. When things get hard - and they always do - rather than looking inward at where they may be at fault, too many women point the finger toward their partners. They blame him (or her) for the problems in their relationship. "If he would just pay more attention to me our marriage would be great!" or "If she would just help more around the house, things would be so much better."

Frustrated and hurt, these women compound the problems in their relationships by judging and criticizing they partner. Then the punishment escalates and they withdraw and withhold sex, affection, and attention.

"He can make his own damn dinner!"

"I'm not having sex with him again until he apologizes!"

"His clothes can mold in the washing machine for all I care!"

"I don't give a sh*t what he does. I'm right and he's wrong!"

So many women sit there in judgment and righteousness while their relationship falters. They expect a near perfect mirror image of themselves, someone who agrees with them and who behaves the way they want them to behave.

These women let their hurt and anger run roughshod in their relationships. Small resentments turn into poisonous darts. Fights over the dishes become biblical.

But the fights are almost never really about the dishes.

They're about not feeling cared for, about feeling taken advantage of, about not feeling heard or seen. They simply do not feel loved or appreciated enough by their spouse.

Too often these women - even the strongest, smartest, most independent of them - weirdly believe that if they inflict enough pain back onto their partners or exact enough control of them, they'll suddenly get with the program. Instead, the opposite usually happens. Their partners - not feeling loved enough and tired of feeling nagged, controlled, and criticized - do the opposite. They withdraw and tune out. And the cycle of drama and dysfunction only becomes more vicious and protracted.

It becomes uglier and more painful.

It's like that old prophetic bumper sticker: The beatings will continue until the morale improves. But the morale never improves!

Never does treating someone badly give you what you want - at least not in a healthy relationship based on trust and safety.

You can fight. You can yell. You can withhold. You can sit there in your judgment and self-righteousness, running the narrative in your head over-and-over again about how you're right and how he's wrong, wrong, wrong. How he's a selfish assh*le. A frustrating idiot. An uncaring egomaniac.

But let me ask: How's that working for you?

Does that ever really get you what you want?

I know this damaging, dysfunctional pattern far too well. I used to be that woman who felt hurt, angry, unseen, and unheard. I also didn't feel loved enough by my husband.

What did I do? Looking back, I admit that I did some crazy sh*t. And it is sh*t. Why did I ever think that punishing my husband by turning away from him and harboring resentments would EVER get me what I wanted? How could I possibly think that punishing him and withdrawing from him would magically give me more love, attention, praise, and affection? It's nuts. It's self-sabotage.

Why do so many of us do this? Why do you do this?

Ladies, if you want to be happy in your marriage, make it your job to make your husband (or wife) happy.

Quit waiting around for someone else to go first, sponge up your hurts, love you perfectly, make you happy or - God forbid - "complete" you.

My marriage brought me to my knees. I was with someone brilliant, generous, funny, charming, and so much more. But Jesus, how we pushed each others' buttons. The pain I felt in our relationship as a result was excruciating.

After FINALLY figuring out that punishing him for my hurt gave me the opposite of what I want, I came to the last possible conclusion. I decided that I needed to change. I decided to try more love and tenderness and less judgment and punishment.

I decided to do all that I could to make him happy and feed and nurture our marriage.

A mentor of mine, David Bell, said something brilliant to me, "Trying to change another person is an act of aggression. Trying to change yourself is an act of love."

It took me a long time to understand this and act on it.

I now know that love starts with me. And it's changed everything.

I decided to put 150 percent of myself into our relationship and not sit around keeping score or waiting for love to wash over me. I stopped waiting for someone else to make me happy.

What's happened as a result has been brilliant. I started tuning much more actively into my husband - prioritizing him, touching him regularly (holding his hand, sitting very close to him, hugging him, rubbing his shoulders, etc), more actively praising and appreciating him, and - crucially - not letting my ego get the best of me and not letting my need to be right lead to Armageddon. As a result, I have managed to bring out the best in my husband.

Our relationship has become light years better, and I feel much happier and more empowered.

Now, it must be said: If you really make it your job to make your partner happy and he (or she) exploits your efforts or never truly reciprocates - never meeting your love with love - you may be in a deal breaker scenario. Despite your best efforts, you may be with someone who is unable or unwilling to love you back and you will probably need to terminate the relationship.

I have written a book that covers the painful drama of my marriage, and what we did to beautifully transform it. The book is called Radical Acceptance: The Secret to Happy, Lasting Love. It goes on sale May 2nd. You can click to pre-order your copy here.

If you're willing to do the work and put in the love; if you're willing to open your heart and mind to the idea that love starts with you, and it's your job to make someone else happy, Radical Acceptance can also transform your relationship!
