H&M's Best-Kept Shopping Secrets, From a Former Employee

H&M is a beast of a store, and more often than not, it's too overwhelming to even fathom covering all your bases. Seriously, every nook and cranny has some type of product merchandised into it. But with the right strategy, you could come out of H&M looking and feeling like a true fashion girl having checked off every single item on your list.

I worked at H&M for four years, and I kid you not, almost every outfit I own was plucked from the shelves there (all the way down to my underwear and hair ties). So you can trust me when I say I know my way around the merchandise. Here's what you should know, too:

1. You Can Get a Discount Every Time You Shop and Save the Planet While You're At It

H&M is collecting old and used garments as an indefinite initiative to close the gap on waste. Bring up to two bags (four to five items) of unwanted textiles - think clothes, placemats, pillow cases - and receive up to two coupons for 15 percent off your next purchase. These textiles are then broken down into fibers and given a new life in the form of H&M's Conscious collection. The surplus is donated to the H&M Foundation and split between social and recycling projects.

2. Sizing Is Weird, Your Body Is Not!

Everything at H&M runs small. When suggesting size options, I would tell customers to choose the two sizes above their normal to try on. Just remember it's not you, it's the inseam! I am normally a size 8, but at H&M, I always wear a size 10 or 12.

3. Shop by Concept

Sometimes with all that merch it's hard to tell where you're going or what you're doing. All of a sudden, furry cropped sweaters, one business-casual blazer, and a leather mini skirt are spilling out of your arms, when all you wanted was a nice pair of cropped denim pants.

H&M is broken down into distinct concepts. These are the ones to note:

  • Everyday: For the everyday woman, these pieces are positioned front and center upon entering the store. The everyday woman is strong, independent, and always on trend. Here you will find the items fast-fashion retailers are known for. Tag: an off-white, eggshell H&M.
  • Trend: For the trendier fashion gal who likes to take risks. Often within or very near the everyday section. These items are at a higher price point but definitely feel more one-of-a-kind. Fewer trend pieces come in regularly, so when you want it, you should grab it. Tag: cream (select stores only).
  • By Night: Whether she's elegant or fun, she's ready for a night out. Sectioned within or next to the trend section, these pieces range from fancy jumpsuits to shimmering mini skirts. Tag: gold or black sheer H&M (select stores only).
  • Modern Classic: For the classic boss-lady. Your go-to for classic interview attire, modern classic adds fun pieces for an updated work wardrobe. This section also includes the premium collection. These items are made of premium cotton and silk and have an overall higher quality. Tag: silver H&M.
  • Divided: For the young, fun, and carefree. Divided is often considered a sort of "juniors" line, only because their sizes run even smaller than everyday pieces. Divided is full of bright colors, crazy patterns, and trendy pieces. These items fall in a lower price point but are not made as well. Tag: black, labeled Divided.
  • Divided Grey: A one-off of Divided, this girl is edgy and cool. Think ripped pants, lots of leather, and band tees. Found within the Divided section. Tag: gray, labeled Divided (select stores only).
  • L.O.G.G: Standing for Level of Graded Goods, LOGG covers the laid-back, comfort-seeking babe. These items are soft and easy, often associated with the beach or outdoors activities. Tag: fabric tag, labeled LOGG.

4. Online Shopping Is All About the Filters

You can find a volume of funky, elevated, and on-trend items by filtering your search to "Trend." These items are often on sale and not always featured in store. Another thing to mention about new items found online: they are found in store two to three weeks after being featured on the website. If it's a more one-of-a-kind piece, maybe even longer or not at all.

5. Arrive at 9, Leave Before Noon

This is when the store is the cleanest. Staff has finished cleaning any leftover messes from the night before and all go-backs should be in their rightful places. Racks are clean and shoppable. The stock team is also replenishing low products and placing new items. You will always have the most updated and shoppable floor in the a.m. There is never a line for the fitting room. With less of a mess to clean and keep control of, the staff has more time to assist you and your needs!

6. Stock Up on Basics

H&M is like the Mecca of basics. But because of this, the good stuff sells out fast. Shop basics a month ahead of the new season. Need a turtleneck for Fall? Start checking around August. Want a sheer and lightweight Spring sweater? Begin shopping in February. New and fresh basic pieces are often made better, but the store receives less and doesn't always replenish. (I lost my favorite black turtleneck and the store has never seen it again. RIP.)

7. Know the Sales

Markdowns happen every few weeks, which usually include a few trend-section pieces and items not selling down as fast. Big sale pushes happen at the end of every season, so much like basics, shop a few weeks ahead of the seasonal turnover. Items that have been around the longest, usually toward the back of each concept's section, are more likely to be marked down first. Markdowns happen almost weekly during the time of the sale, so continue to check back. Ask sales advisers where older season items are - you are more likely to find one-off sale items in these sections. Trend and premium pieces are almost always marked as 50 percent off. (Bring in your recycled clothes for the additional discount and receive a whopping total of 65 percent off.)

Last Minute Quickies to Note:

  • Backstock: Everything is on the floor, with the exception of maybe a few chunky boots that don't fit on the shoe shelf. If it's not there, check online or the next closest H&M. The stockroom will not have the beaded trend tunic you've been eyeing for the past month. I promise.
  • Cross-Concept Shopping: There are often different versions of every item, it's just residing in a different concept. If a specific bomber jacket doesn't come in your size, I can guarantee there is another version of it somewhere in the store. Always sift through Divided for trendy pieces the everyday section doesn't seem to have.
  • Shoes: Everyday shoes are the most comfortable and last a decent amount of time (usually always falling at the $35 price point).
  • Accessories: The amount of accessories that comes through each H&M could fill its own three-story pop-up shop. If you are a big accessory person, take your time in this section. It's easy to miss the perfect pair of earrings, but they're there. I promise you. This section can become the most cluttered, so check past the first few items on every rack.

15 Times Barack Obama Reminded Us That He and Michelle Are a Walking Fairy Tale

Image Source: Getty / Taylor Hill

The grass is green, the sky is blue, and Barack Obama is one of the best damn public speakers who's ever walked the earth. Even if you don't agree with his policies, you can't deny his mastery of the English language. During his presidency this skill served him well for obvious reasons, but never have the words come as easily to him than when he's talking about his wife, fearless former First Lady and all-around badass Michelle Obama. The power couple began dating back in 1989, and it's obvious that Barack has been smitten ever since. If you need a quick reminder that yes, love still does exist, take a look through his best, most romantic quotes about Michelle.

  1. On her legacy as first lady: "Michelle LaVaughn Robinson, girl of the South Side. For the past 25 years you have not only been my wife and mother of my children, you have been my best friend. You took on a role you didn't ask for, and you made it your own, with grace and with grit and with style and good humor. You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody. And a new generation sets its sights higher because it has you as a role model. So, you have made me proud and you have made the country proud."
  2. On their first kiss: "We were at a law firm together, I was a Summer associate, she was already practicing law. I had been sort of eyeing her for a while, but she was acting real professional. Finally I wear her down a little bit and I say, we're coming back from a firm picnic and I said, 'Well let's go get some ice cream.' We went to Baskin-Robbins on 53rd Street in Chicago, she bought chocolate, I don't remember what I bought. They didn't have any seats in the store so we sat out on a curb on a Summer day and had ice cream, and that's when I asked her if I could kiss her."
  3. On how she's true to herself: "As usual, people always realize how much better Michelle is than me . . . she's a wonderful person and she's a genuine person. I never see her in different settings and somehow she's different with different people."
  4. On her magnetic personality: "If you were going to list the 100 most popular things that I have done as president, being married to Michelle Obama is number one."
  5. On how she's helped him every step of the way: "Obviously I couldn't have done anything that I've done without Michelle. You were asking earlier what keeps me sane, what keeps me balanced, what allows me to deal with the pressure. It is this young lady right here . . . Not only has she been a great first lady, she is just my rock. I count on her in so many ways every single day."
  6. On how she's changed the way he looks at the world: "Michelle was trying to figure out, OK, if the kids get sick why is it that she's the one who has to take time off of her job to go pick them up from school, as opposed to me? What I tried to do was to learn to be thoughtful enough and introspective enough that I wasn't always having to be told that things were unfair."
  7. On her making him a better man: "There's no doubt I'm a better man having spent time with Michelle. I would never say that Michelle's a better woman, but I will say she's a little more patient."
  8. One one of her best traits: "She's also funny. She's the funniest person in our family."

  1. On how she's like Queen Bey: "Michelle's like Beyoncé in that song, 'Let me upgrade ya!' She upgraded me."
  2. On her patriotism: "Anybody who knows her well knows she's got the best sense of humor of anyone you'd ever want to meet. She's the most quintessentially American person I know . . . She's just a wonderfully normal, levelheaded person. Any American woman who meets her would immediately identify her as a fellow traveler."
  3. On her 2016 Democratic National Convention speech: "Incredible speech by an incredible woman. Couldn't be more proud & our country has been blessed to have her as FLOTUS. I love you, Michelle."
  4. On how she keeps him grounded: "What I value most about my marriage is that it is separate and apart from a lot of the silliness of Washington. And Michelle is not part of that silliness."
  5. On why they're such a good team: "She is a great mom. What is also true is Michelle's had to accommodate a life that it's fair to say was not necessarily what she envisioned for herself. She has to put up with me. And my schedule and my stresses. And she's done a great job on that. But I think it would be a mistake to think that my wife, when I walk in the door, is, 'Hey, honey, how was your day? Let me give you a neck rub.' It's not as if Michelle is thinking in terms of, 'How do I cater to my husband?' I think it's much more, 'We're a team, and how do I make sure that this guy is together enough that he's paying attention to his girls and not forgetting the basketball game that he's supposed to be going to on Sunday?' So she's basically managing me quite effectively."
  6. On their unbreakable connection: "Sometimes, when we're lying together, I look at her and I feel dizzy with the realization that here is another distinct person from me, who has memories, origins, thoughts, feelings that are different from my own. That tension between familiarity and mystery meshes something strong between us. Even if one builds a life together based on trust, attentiveness, and mutual support, I think that's it's important that a partner continues to surprise."
  7. On why she's so relatable: "Having said all those things, the quality I love most about her is, she's honest and genuine. I think that comes across to people. They get a sense that they can trust her. You know, the word 'authenticity' is overused these days. But I do think it captures what folks are looking for - not just in leaders, but also in friends and in co-workers - and that is, folks who are on the level. People like that tell you what they think and don't have a bunch of hidden motives. That's who Michelle is."

The Darling Mommy-and-Me Robes Vogue Gave to Victoria Beckham

When Victoria Beckham shared a snap of herself and her daughter Harper wearing Vogue robes, we blurt out an "Aww!" But after a little investigation, we found she might not be the only one who made out with one. Gigi Hadid has rocked the same signature embroidered robe on set, and it looks like Vogue Netherlands has a whole lineup of them available for models on duty, or, err, gifting. Scroll to take another look at the adorable snapshot Victoria shared, and you'll soon see that this particular robe is quite the prized possession.

All Hail Elizabeth Debicki's High Priestess Ayesha in Guardians of the Galaxy 2

When Ayesha, high priestess of the Sovereign, first pops up on screen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, it's electric. Sitting in all of her gilded glory, the leader of the xenophobic, gold-skinned race of aliens - who are quite literally pod people - stares down at Peter Quill, Rocket, Drax, and Gamora from her throne with a mix of detached interest and chilling scorn; she's like a scientist preparing to slice open her next specimen. Although the true villain of the story emerges later on, it's the scenes with Ayesha that cement the towering golden goddess as the film's campier, more entertaining foil for Star Lord and company. So who do we have to thank for this metallic HBIC? Twenty-six-year-old Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki.

She joins Sylvester Stallone and Pom Klementieff as one of the cosmic sequel's best new additions, but it's hardly her first role. Debicki got her start in 2011's A Few Best Men with Rebel Wilson, but it was her big break as Jordan Baker in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby in 2013 that really set her career in motion.

Since then, she's gone on to star in films like The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Everest, as well as nabbing the part of Jed Marshall in The Night Manager. Unlike Lee Pace's Ronan in the first Guardians - pause for spoiler warning - Ayesha makes it to the end of the film in perfect, albeit annoyed, condition, and the postcredits scene she appears in all but confirms the important part she'll play in future Marvel properties.

Exclusive: The Deck of Scarlet x BabsBeauty Makeup Palette Is Here

Deck of Scarlet, the subscription makeup palette service, has just revealed its latest collaborator: BabsBeauty. The YouTube beauty sensation (aka Stephanie Stipes) will release her Deck of Scarlet x BabsBeauty onto the masses on May 1. The palette contains seven highly pigmented shades and includes three eye shadows, two lip shades, a blush, a highlighter, and a lip chubby stick.

The stand-out shade in this collection is a saturated royal purple eye shadow called "Sophia." The bright color is ideal for creating bold eye looks with a Summer twist. Meghan Markle Looks Royally Smitten While Watching Prince Harry Play Polo

Meghan Markle basically turned into the heart eyes emoji on Saturday, and it's all thanks to Prince Harry. The Suits actress and activist traveled to the Cowarth Polo Club in Ascot, England over the weekend to watch her boyfriend of over six months compete in the Audi Polo Challenge, where she couldn't help but flash a huge smile. It marks the first time that Harry (who looked equally smitten, by the way) and Meghan attended a public event together.

The polo match raised money for Harry's charities, Sentebale and WellChild, and boasted A-list guests like Harry's former classmate Eddie Redmayne, Strictly Come Dancing judge Darcey Bussell, and The Crown actor Matt Smith (who coincidentally plays Harry's grandfather, Prince Philip, in the Netflix drama). While Meghan cheered Harry on from the stands, she bonded with Mark Dyer, a former Welsh Guards officer and close friend of Harry's who helped set up his Sentebale charity.

Megan and Harry have been jetting all over the world to be with one another over the last few months, including trips to Canada (where Megan films Suits) and to Jamaica to celebrate a friend's wedding. The pair will be wedding dates once again in just a few weeks, when they they attend Pippa Middleton's high-profile nuptials. Kate Middleton's sister reportedly has a "no ring, no bring" policy for her ceremony, so Meghan will join Harry at the reception later on that night.

12 Times Game of Thrones Sneakily Foreshadowed the Future

Game of Thrones is one of those shows that you really do have to watch from the beginning (and not just because Jason Momoa is only in the first season). There are so many details that seem random or offhand at face value but then make sense or explain something several episodes or even seasons later. Here are 12 of the times Game of Thrones perfectly foreshadows what's to come.

This Congressman Seems Confused About What "Preexisting Conditions" Are

Republicans in Congress are committed to dismantling the Affordable Care Act, particularly the clause that requires individual state insurance exchanges to cover people with preexisting conditions. Despite the fact that part of his job is to understand what a preexisting condition is, GOP House Representative Mo Brooks demonstrated he either has no idea what constitutes preexisting or he is simply heartless.

A preexisting condition is defined as a medical condition that a person had before seeking insurance; conditions could range from cancer to a condition a patient was born with, like asthma. Presently, the Affordable Care Act requires health insurance companies to provide coverage for people with preexisting conditions at the same cost as their peers without preexisting conditions.

Speaking to CNN's Jake Tapper about President Donald Trump's second attempt to pass another healthcare plan, Mo Brooks suggested people with preexisting conditions had control over their health. "My understanding is that (the new bill) will allow insurance companies to require people who have higher healthcare costs to contribute more to the insurance pool," Brooks said. "That helps offset all these costs, thereby reducing the cost to those people who lead good lives, they're healthy, they've done the things to keep their bodies healthy. And right now, those are the people - who've done things the right way - that are seeing their costs skyrocketing."

What Brooks originally implied is that people who don't have preexisting conditions are "healthy" people who "lead good lives," which ostensibly stipulates some level of control. Of course people who live healthier lives often have less medical problems, but that does not exempt, say, a nonsmoker from having asthma or a child from getting leukemia.

Following his seemingly ignorant gaffe, Brooks tried to walk back his statement. "Now, in fairness, a lot of these people with preexisting conditions, they have those conditions through no fault of their own. I think our society, under those circumstances, needs to help," Brooks said. "The challenge, though, is that it's a tough balancing act between the higher cost of these mandates, which denies people coverage because they can't afford their health insurance policies . . . and having enough coverage to help those people truly in need."

Brooks, a Freedom Caucus member from Alabama, is a proponent of scrapping protections for preexisting coverage. One of the main reasons Trump's first healthcare plan didn't pass was because the Freedom Caucus objected to the mandate's inclusion in his proposal. However the new GOP healthcare plan does not include a provision for health insurance companies to provide coverage for patients with preexisting conditions. Instead, the proposal essentially allows states to decide whether they want to keep the rule.

Congressional Republicans do not have enough support to pass the new proposal. At least 21 House Republicans are in the "no" camp, and if two more break with the party, the bill will not pass.

Asia Kate Dillon Is the Change-Maker the Beauty Industry Needs

In a Donald Trump presidency era, where many social issues seem to be moving backwards in time, it's more important than ever to celebrate the change-makers breaking barriers. Actor Asia Kate Dillon is one of those leaders, whose initiatives to normalize nonbinary gender identity in Hollywood are rewriting history. (FYI, nonbinary gender means a person is not exclusively male or female and would usually use the pronoun "they" instead of "him" or "her.")

Asia is credited for playing the first genderqueer character in a mainstream TV show for their role of Taylor Mason in Showtime's Billions. Off-screen, Asia also identifies as genderfluid.

"My assigned sex is Female," Asia recently clarified on Twitter. "My gender identity is Non-binary. Anatomy and biology are complicated. I said sex, only as in anatomy . . . Sex is between legs. Identity is between ears."

This year, Asia made headlines when they submitted their name for an Emmy Award and choose "actor" instead of "actress," because the former is a more gender-neutral word. The public move to push gender boundaries prompted MTV to combine previously male-and-female-separated categories at the MTV Awards, and Asia will take the stage to present the award for best actor in a movie.

"I'm proud of MTV for joining the conversation about breaking down binaries," Asia told W. "Binaries, whether it be man or woman or black or white, they were created to separate us, to create an us and a them. Without binaries, there's only us. Which means we're actually all equal. So to be presenting the first acting award in history that is based solely on performance and not on sex or gender identity is a historic moment and it's a moment that will go down in history, and that is a history I share not only with my family, friends and coworkers, but with all the trans, nonbinary and gender-nonconforming people, particularly people of color, who have been leading the way for change long before I was born."

But that is not the only reason we want to watch Asia. They're also a beauty inspiration - rocking a badass shaved head, seriously gorgeous eyebrows, flawless skin, and unique tattoos. If their career keeps up (Asia has also appeared in Orange Is the New Black, Younger, and Master of None), landing a beauty campaign is only a matter of time. Oh, and if you were wondering, Asia told Ellen DeGeneres their romantic partner identifies as male.

Keep reading to see more reasons why Asia is our latest beauty idol.

OK, For Real - Would You Pay Over 1K For a Mood Ring?

Sure, I had mood rings in my childhood days, but they were mostly made of plastic and came from the machines that offer a random prize for a quarter. Most of the time, I even overlooked the mood ring section at Claire's or Limited Too, heading straight for the wiry chokers or tie-dye terry cloth headbands. But with '90s trends back in style, it was only a matter of time before these magical little accessories found their way back into our lives - just maybe not for $1,150.

Designer Leo Sachs-Michaels created one plated in 14K gold for her Brooklyn-based brand Leo Black, and the color-changing crystals are sourced from Canada. "My first mood ring was a thick, color-changing band with silver glitter inside, [and it] felt like a portal to my soul. There are many pieces I wish I had held on to and could wear, but they haven't aged well. I wanted women to have access to playful jewelry that they could connect with on a gut level," the jeweler explained to Well + Good.

Whether or not you think this particular piece is worth the high price point, the oval-shaped design is definitely gorgeous. And at the end of the day, if you're just psyched that mood rings are back, and you can't wait to stack them with the rest of your baubles, you can always pick up a more affordable version. Maybe not for a quarter, but it might be worth it to shell out the cash for a nostalgic ring that reflects your aura. Scroll to decide.

Miley Cyrus Clarifies Controversial Comments About Rap Music: "I Respect ALL Artists"

When Miley Cyrus recently sat down with Billboard for an interview, she discussed everything from why she and fiancé Liam Hemsworth first broke up to the new direction she's taking her music in. Her comments on the latter subject focused on how she's shifting from a hip-hop style to more of a singer-songwriter approach but that she really appreciates Kendrick Lamar's new song "Humble." "I love that because it's not 'Come sit on my dick, suck on my cock.' I can't listen to that anymore," she explained. "That's what pushed me out of the hip-hop scene a little. It was too much 'Lamborghini, got my Rolex, got a girl on my cock' - I am so not that."

This comment in particular drew the ire of more than a few people on Twitter, who accused her of only using black culture "when it's convenient." If it sounds familiar, it's because this isn't the first time the 24-year-old has faced similar criticism. After exiting Disney's Hannah Montana, Miley revamped her image by twerking at the 2013 VMAs and releasing her album Bangerz, which she described as "dirty South hip-hop." To many, it seemed like Miley was using black culture to make her image appear more subversive, likely to help distance her from her Disney roots. At the time, Vulture's Jody Rosen even called Miley's VMAs performance (where she slapped the butts of her black backup dancers) "a minstrel show routine" and said "her act tipped over into what we may as well just call racism."

On Saturday, Miley shared a lengthy statement on Instagram clarifying what she told Billboard, emphasizing that she respects "all artists who speak their truth" and "appreciates all genres of music."

"When articles are read it isn't always considered that for hours I've spoken with a journalist about my life , where my heart is, my perspective at that time, and the next step in my career. Unfortunately only a portion of that interview makes it to print, & A lot of the time publications like to focus on the most sensationalized part of the conversation. So, to be clear I respect ALL artists who speak their truth and appreciate ALL genres of music (country , pop , alternative .... but in this particular interview I was asked about rap) I have always and will continue to love and celebrate hip hop as I've collaborated with some of the very best! At this point in my life I am expanding personally/musically and gravitating more towards uplifting, conscious rap! As I get older I understand the effect music has on the world & Seeing where we are today I feel the younger generation needs to hear positive powerful lyrics! I am proud to be an artist with out borders and thankful for the opportunity to explore so many different styles/ sounds! I hope my words (sung or spoken) always encourage others to LOVE.... Laugh.... Live fully.... to be there for one another... to unify, and to fight for what's right (human , animal , or environmental ) Sending peace to all! Look forward to sharing my new tunes with you soon! - MC"

Miley is gearing up to release her sixth studio album sometime this year, which we'll get a taste of when she drops her first single, "Malibu," on May 11.

This Unexpected Nail Look Is the Manicure Trend Everyone Will Be Wearing Next Fall

Just when you thought nail art might be waning, New York Fashion Week Fall 2017 has brought it back with a vengeance. We're only halfway through Fashion Week, and already we've seen nails featuring geometric shapes, negative space, and layered colors.

Perhaps one of our favorite looks so far is the pointer finger accent nail designed by Jin Soon for Tibi. At the show, models rocked a bright color on just the pointer finger nail. To recap: the ring finger has traditionally been the accent finger of choice.

"Tibi's collection was inspired by menswear – very clean and simple with unexpected details," says Jin Soon Choi of Jin Soon. "She used a lot of 1980s pop colors in the clothing, so we used that pop color on the models' nails. We didn't want to put those pop colors on every single nail because that's too predictable, so we decided to do only one finger."

Fortunately, you don't have to be a Picasso to pull this look chic look off. To re-create, apply a clear base on all your nails. Then, on the pointer finger, choose a bright hue a la the '80s.

Models at Tibi wore one of the following shades from the Jin Soon line: Heirloom, Pop Orange, Charme, Hope, or Cool Blue ($18, jinsoon.com).

Stan Lee's Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Cameo Is More Important Than You Think

You can't watch a movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and not expect to see Stan Lee. The iconic comic-book writer, who's responsible for creating many of the Marvel heroes we hold dear, has popped up over and over again in cheeky cameos, but have his appearances been more important than a simple tip of the hat? Some fans seem to think so, and given his latest part in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, we're inclined to agree.

Spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 below!

In the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, Lee appears not once but twice. We get our first glimpse of the Marvel chairman when Yondu, Rocket, Groot, and Kraglin are hopping through realms over a planet in their spaceship, where he's regaling a group of aliens on the surface with tales of his time as a FedEx employee (a reference to his cameo in Captain America: Civil War). The second time we see him is during the fifth and final postcredits scene, which is a continuation of his first appearance. He asks the aliens to stay and listen ("I've still got more stories to tell!"), but they get bored and walk away. The aliens he's talking to aren't random - they're members of The Watchers, an ancient extraterrestrial race in charge of passively observing everything that happens in the universe. Though they're all-seeing, The Watchers are banned from ever interfering in the phenomena of the universe (they're not called The Do-ers) (sorry). In fact, their behavior is pretty similar to how Lee behaves in all of his cameos, don't you think?

It turns out that Lee is indeed a member of The Watchers, and he's been playing the same "character" in all of his cameos this whole time. In an interview with The Radio Times, Guardians director James Gunn revealed he specifically chose to include the scenes with Lee as a nod to the Watchers theory fans have been wondering about for so long. "I mean, you know there's a lot of cool stuff that the fans come up with," he said. "A lot of stuff I don't agree with, you know, people have ideas about what they think should happen in the MCU. But I find the idea that Stan Lee is a Watcher, or that he works for the Watchers, is just a fun little nod to the fans."

The head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, further confirmed the theory. "We always thought it would be fun. Stan Lee clearly exists, you know, above and apart from the reality of all the films," he said. "So the notion that he could be sitting there on a cosmic pit stop during the jump gate sequence in Guardians was something very fun – James had that idea and we shot that cameo and loved it so much, you know, you see it a couple of times in the movie. It wasn't in for a long time and we put it back in towards the end of the process where he references that time he was a Federal Express agent – we thought it would be fun to put that in there because that really says, so wait a minute, he's this same character who's popped up in all these films."

Mariah Carey Goes All Out For Her Twins' Disneyland Birthday Bash

Mariah Carey isn't just a glamorous celebrity, she's also a glamorous mom. But it shouldn't come as a surprise that they would pick the happiest place on Earth to celebrate. Not only is it every kid's dream to ring in their birthday at Disneyland, but it's also where Mariah and Nick renewed their vows back in April 2013.

Everything We Know About the Balmain x L'Oréal Lipstick Collection So Far

Try not to scream (or faint) with excitement, dear makeup addicts. Word around town is that L'Oréal Paris is teaming up with French fashion house Balmain for the capsule lipstick collection we've been waiting for. If it's anywhere near as fabulous as the Balmain x H&M clothing line from a few years ago, this upcoming collab is sure to be the source of our newest lipstick addiction. After all, couture + affordable cosmetics = a literal dream come true.

The highly anticipated line will include 12 new shades that fit into three different color themes, according to WWD. Although we don't have many details on exactly what shades will be included, it seems like Olivier Rousteing, Balmain's creative director, has had a say in the color-making process. Considering the fact that Rousteing is the fashionable genius behind some of Kim Kardashian's and Kendall Jenner's signature looks, our expectations are pretty high.

A L'Oréal Paris representative told POPSUGAR that the collection will be available in select US retailers starting in September 2017, so mark your calendars and start a countdown now! Other than that, both brands are being very mum on the whole thing so far, but the teasers ahead have us itching for more intel. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.

Why I Wanted a Small Wedding - and Why You Might Too

Seven years and two kids ago, my (now) husband knelt on a moonlit boat dock in Camden, ME, and asked if I would love him forever. For me, it was a no-brainer. I wept and said yes. There was no one there but us and the moon and the swaying boats in the harbor. There was no ring. There was just his earnest ask. I treasured that intimacy, and I wanted to carry it through to our wedding vows.

I was not someone who had been planning her wedding since childhood. I had no vision for what I wanted or what my dress would be - I actually admire women who are this decisive. The only thing I knew for certain was that I wanted my wedding to be small. To me, this was my most personal moment - the moment where I pledged to love another person through all of life's triumphs and tragedies, and that felt sacred to me. The thought of saying my vows, personal and handwritten, in front of people who I might not even know seemed counter to how I wanted the moment to feel and be remembered.

A few weeks after our engagement, I told my then-fiancé that I'd like to have around 20 people at our wedding. The two of us, his three best friends and their plus-ones, my three best friends and their plus-ones, and our parents and their significant others (his parents are divorced). He was stunned. My husband is loving and charismatic and has a wide social circle. "But," he argued, "we need more people on the dance floor!" Point taken.

I grew up attending large, gregarious weddings my whole life. I'm from a big extended family, and I loved those gatherings, but I wanted something different for myself. My family alone would have been nearly 100 people. My parents had a difficult time understanding that I wanted to get married far away and have only a handful of people attend. As it often happens while planning a wedding, tensions mounted and feelings were hurt. How would I balance the desires of my family with what I really wanted for my wedding? Meanwhile, my husband's list took on a life of its own. "Weddings are also about having fun," he reasoned.

Eventually, we got the number to 40 people. My husband, bless his heart, even added a couple of people two days before the wedding. I'm glad that I compromised with him and had more people attend because ultimately part of marriage is about consistently compromising with your partner to ensure you are each happy.

My husband and I were concerned that we would be blubbering messes while delivering the vows that we wrote for each other. So, instead, we were married with traditional vows during the ceremony. Then, that night in the honeymoon suite, damp with sweat from dancing (you see a theme here, right?) and high on the adrenaline of the day, we sweetly read our handwritten vows to each other. Not a soul on this earth has heard those vows but us, and each year on our wedding anniversary, we take them out and read them to each other again.

In the end, our wedding still felt incredibly intimate because all of the people who attended are still in our lives, and they have supported us through some truly difficult times. I'm extremely grateful that they could be there to bear witness to our marriage. And to shake their asses on the dance floor.

This $6 Rimmel Liquid Lipstick Is Better Than Most Designer Formulas

Glosses may be getting trendy again, but I'm not ditching matte liquid lipstick anytime soon. Just try to pry it out of my hands! I'm completely sold on the matte moment: it looks both sophisticated and edgy, and usually results in a durable, long-wearing application. So, as a flat-finished lipstick aficionado, I was psyched to get the exclusive first look at Rimmel London's newest formula, Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour ($6).

My first observation was how easy it is to work with. Some matte liquid lipsticks dry lightning fast, leaving you mere seconds to perfect your application before your look sets. However, this mousse-like texture stays creamy and pliable for around five minutes (which I appreciated, as that generous amount of time felt damn luxurious). I used the precise, chisel-tip doefoot to line my lips first, then filled in using the broad side of the applicator.

Because the Stay Mattes don't dry insanely rapidly, its finish is far from being that superflat, dry, crusty finish that too many matte liquid lipsticks have. Instead, this leaves your pout with a velvety look. My lips reminded me of the beautiful silkiness of fresh rose petals when I tried Heartbeat, a fuchsia shade. Though that was my favorite, it comes in 14 hues, including neutrals, brights, and edgier tones like sapphire, slate, and black.

You should also know that even after several hours, this liquid lipstick feels majorly comfortable, a plus in a longwear formula. I have yet to put it to an aggressive test, but Rimmel London claims this lipstick will last for up to 12 hours, ideal for those of us so busy we forget to even brush our hair in the morning. Quite honestly, this is one of the best products of its kind that I've ever tried and outperforms many prestigious products, but at a fraction of the price.

By now, you're likely ready to stock up! Good news: the Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour is officially launching in July, but Rimmel London is doing an early access, online pop-up sale with Ulta Beauty on May 6. At just $6 apiece, buying all 14 shades doesn't seem totally unreasonable. Keep reading to get a peek at them all, then shop the virtual pop-up on May 6 here.

If Rapunzel Had a Wedding IRL, This Is What It Would Look Like

A woodland residence in Ohio was the perfect location to shoot this Tangled-inspired reception. Kirkbrides Wedding Planning and Design and a team of amazing vendors brought Rapunzel's wedding to life. Rich purples and cascading florals made it easy to imagine the Disney film, and wait until you see the stunning cake! The wildly adorned naked cake was shot in front of a stained-glass window which looked like Rapunzel's tower.

It also didn't hurt that the model had long golden hair that they braided small flowers into. And what we loved most was that her prince was a US Air Force airman, not that we don't love Flynn Rider. Overall, the whimsical wedding shoot was done tastefully and elegantly, all while having fun elements reminiscent of the beloved movie.

If Hillary Clinton Can Accept the Election Results, Why Can't Donald Trump?

Hillary Clinton has accepted the results of the presidential election, but she's unsure if the president truly has. On May 2, Clinton sat down with Christiane Amanpour at a Women for Women International event for an interview that touched on foreign affairs, North Korea, and President Donald Trump's tweets.

In one moment that has since garnered attention, Clinton began by addressing her election loss. "The reason why I believe we lost," she said, "were the intervening events in the last 10 days." Clinton added, "Remember, I did win more than three million votes than my opponent. So, it's like, really?"

Following some applause, Amanpour referenced the president's social media tendencies and joked, "I see a tweet coming!" To that point, Clinton said, "Fine! Better that than interfering in foreign affairs. If he wants to tweet about me, I'm happy to be the diversion, because we've got lots of other things to worry about." Adding, "He should worry less about the election - and my winning the popular vote - than some other things that would be important for the country."

Clinton is likely referring to the president's recent tweets about the election. On April 23, Trump tweeted, "New polls out today are very good considering that much of the media is FAKE and almost always negative. Would still beat Hillary in popular vote."
