The MTV Awards Going Gender-Neutral Is a Major Win

"The first acting award in history that doesn't separate nominees based on their sex says something about how we perceive the human experience."

Emma Watson Had the Sweetest Reaction to the MTV Awards's Beauty and the Beast Opener

Emma Watson might be the biggest Belle fan of them all. The Beauty and the Beast actress looked overjoyed during the Disney-themed opener at the Movie and TV Awards on Sunday night. While host Adam DeVine's beast costume was certainly over the top, Hailee Steinfeld shocked everyone when she ripped off her jacket to reveal Belle's iconic ballgown. Thankfully, the camera caught Emma's priceless reaction as she mouthed "So cute!" to the person sitting next to her. You can catch the adorable GIF below.

'People are dying out there': New guidelines for prescribing opioids encourage doctors to put down the pad

Opioids

New Canadian guidelines for prescribing of opioids for chronic, non-cancer pain focuses on preventing harm. That's a different approach from the last guidelines in 2010 where the focus was on how to prescribe opioids.

Drop What You're Doing and Watch MTV's Hilarious Beauty and the Beast Spoof

The inaugural MTV Movie and TV Awards truly outdid itself on Sunday night. To open the show, host Adam DeVine wrangled Hailee Steinfeld, Rebel Wilson, Millie Bobby Brown, Josh Gad, Blake Anderson, Mike Colter, and Chrissy Metz for one of the best Beauty and the Beast spoofs of all time (even the latest Belle, Emma Watson, couldn't contain her joy). Watch it all go down above!

Let Milo Ventimiglia Fill the This Is Us-Shaped Hole in Your Heart

This Is Us may be on a hiatus, but the cast's bond is as strong as ever. On Sunday, a few of the stars reunited for the MTV Movie and TV Awards. The Pearson family patriarch, Milo Ventimiglia (Jack), posed for a few photos on the red carpet, while his onscreen son Lonnie Chavis (who plays young Randall) made our hearts melt with his warm smile. Chrissy Metz (Kate) even participated in host Adam DeVine's Beauty and the Beast-themed opening number. Not to mention Milo and Lonnie's cute moment on stage when they took home the best tearjerker moment. Gosh, we love this cast.

If Drake Was a Chocolate Cake, This Is What He Would Taste Like

New York's Butter & Scotch bakery combines two of our favorite things, (chocolate and Drake!) with this yummy Hotline Bling cake. Described as "one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had," by POPSUGAR's executive editor, Nancy Einhart, the Drake-inspired cake is said to be "rich and chocolatey, with just a touch of welcome saltiness." Yeah, we're already drooling, too.

That's not all, though. The dark chocolate Hotline Bling cake ($45) is covered in edible gold glitter fitting for the rap king, and has "layers of salted caramel" in between. If you're ready to try it for yourself and you happen to be in the NYC area, you can order and pick-up the 10-inch cake which serves up to 22 slices, or the 6-inch cake which serves up to 10 slices. You can also request a personalized message on top, because YOLO. Now excuse us while we treat ourselves to another piece and stare at these 31 photos of Drake looking edible AF.

SNL Mocks the Disappearance of Kellyanne Conway in This Carmen Sandiego Spoof

If you've been wondering why you haven't seen Kellyanne Conway on any cable news show panels lately, you're not the only one. Saturday Night Live returned this week with Wonder Woman actor Chris Pine as the celebrity host, but the biggest highlight of the night was this hilarious "Where in the World Is Kellyanne Conway?" skit. Watch the two-minute sketch above to see if the show was successful in finding President Trump's current counselor (played once again by the funny Kate McKinnon).

Taraji P. Henson Looks Like a Sexy Cyborg at the MTV Movie and TV Awards

Jaws dropped when Taraji P. Henson stepped on the red carpet at the MTV Movie and TV Awards. The Empire actress paired her futuristic frock with a sexy, blunt blond bob that we're praying she decides to make part of her regular look.

She paired her new hair with MAC Viva Glam Lipstick ($17) and Lipglass ($17) in a bright fuchsia shade. Her dewy complexion was made possible with Perfect Blend by Ashunta Sheriff ($40) and long flirty lashes accentuated by Ardell Individual Lashes ($10).

The glamorous and surprisingly wearable look has us clamoring to find our own fuchsia lipstick to rock ASAP.

Tom Daley Marries Longtime Boyfriend Dustin Lance Black

Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black are officially married, BBC reports. The couple, who got engaged in October 2015, tied the knot during an intimate ceremony on Saturday at the Bovey Castle Hotel on Dartmoor National Park in Devon, England, about 30 miles from Tom's hometown in Plymouth. The 22-year-old Olympic diver first started dating the 42-year-old Oscar-winning screenwriter in the Summer of 2013, shortly before he came out as bisexual on YouTube. "My life changed massively when I met someone, and they make me feel so happy, so safe, and everything just feels great," he said in the video. "That someone is a guy. It did take me by surprise a little bit." Congrats to the happy couple!

Hearts Melt Everywhere as Dylan Minnette Arrives at the MTV Movie and TV Awards

Dylan Minnette sure knows how to work a red carpet! Just hours after it was officially confirmed that 13 Reasons Why would be renewed for a second season, the breakout actor posed at the MTV Movie and TV Awards. Although Dylan is dating Ray Donovan actress Kerris Dorsey, he posed solo on the red carpet and had everyone melting with his adorable smile. He and other members of the 13 Reasons Why cast showed up, even though the show is not nominated for any awards. However, they will be presenting, and we can't wait for the onstage reunion.

Debra Messing Calls Out Ivanka Trump: "It's Time to Do Something"

Debra Messing isn't done resisting Donald Trump's contentious presidency. The Will and Grace actress delivered a moving - albeit hilarious - acceptance speech at the 28th annual GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday and addressed the "very bad, and very orange man in our White House . . . at least a few days a month," she joked.

Messing, who took home GLAAD's Excellence in Media Award, called on all Americans to resist Trump's controversial policies and even urged them to text the Congressional switchboard in Washington DC. "Don't be shy, I know all of your cell phones are open because you've been taking selfies all night," she quipped.

Messing then spoke directly to Ivanka Trump, whom she referred to as "the secretary of state," saying, "It is not enough to simply say that women's issues are important to you. It's time to do something." Watch her full nine-minute acceptance speech above to hear her empowering call for action that will inspire you.

Asia Kate Dillon Is the Change-Maker the Beauty Industry Needs

In a Donald Trump presidency era, where many social issues seem to be moving backwards in time, it's more important than ever to celebrate the change-makers breaking barriers. Actor Asia Kate Dillon is one of those leaders, whose initiatives to normalize nonbinary gender identity in Hollywood are rewriting history. (FYI, nonbinary gender means a person is not exclusively male or female and would usually use the pronoun "they" instead of "him" or "her.")

Asia is credited for playing the first genderqueer character in a mainstream TV show for their role of Taylor Mason in Showtime's Billions. Off-screen, Asia also identifies as genderfluid.

"My assigned sex is Female," Asia recently clarified on Twitter. "My gender identity is Non-binary. Anatomy and biology are complicated. I said sex, only as in anatomy . . . Sex is between legs. Identity is between ears."

This year, Asia made headlines when they submitted their name for an Emmy Award and choose "actor" instead of "actress," because the former is a more gender-neutral word. The public move to push gender boundaries prompted MTV to combine previously male-and-female-separated categories at the MTV Awards, and Asia will take the stage to present the award for best actor in a movie.

"I'm proud of MTV for joining the conversation about breaking down binaries," Asia told W. "Binaries, whether it be man or woman or black or white, they were created to separate us, to create an us and a them. Without binaries, there's only us. Which means we're actually all equal. So to be presenting the first acting award in history that is based solely on performance and not on sex or gender identity is a historic moment and it's a moment that will go down in history, and that is a history I share not only with my family, friends and coworkers, but with all the trans, nonbinary and gender-nonconforming people, particularly people of color, who have been leading the way for change long before I was born."

But that is not the only reason we want to watch Asia. They're also a beauty inspiration - rocking a badass shaved head, seriously gorgeous eyebrows, flawless skin, and unique tattoos. If their career keeps up (Asia has also appeared in Orange Is the New Black, Younger, and Master of None), landing a beauty campaign is only a matter of time. Oh, and if you were wondering, Asia told Ellen DeGeneres their romantic partner identifies as male.

Keep reading to see more reasons why Asia is our latest beauty idol.

Riverdale's Madelaine Petsch Just Worked MTV's Red Carpet Like an Old Pro

Working a red carpet can be intimidating, especially if you're new to fame. However, the cast of Riverdale is filled with young, talented newcomers . . . and one of them just happens to know how to rock the carpet like nobody's business. Madelaine Petsch (aka Cheryl Blossom) turned up at the MTV Movie and TV Awards on Sunday night to show the vets how it's done, alongside boyfriend Travis Mills. Of course, we should have known she would be able to strut in heels with the practiced poise of Victoria Beckham. Though the cast wasn't nominated for anything, you can bet they'll be on the list next year.

Zendaya Channels Jackie O With Her Chic Hair at the MTV Movie Awards

Zendaya ditched her edgy beauty style to look classically gorgeous at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards. The young Hollywood It girl channeled Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis with her short, sophisticated hairstyle featuring voluminous curls flipped out.

Hailee Steinfeld Just Said "F*ck It" to This Polarizing Beauty Rule

Hailee Steinfeld walked the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards red carpet while casually challenging a hotly contested beauty rule. In a confident move, the 20-year-old actress matched her eye makeup to her lilac Fausto Puglisi mini. While matching makeup with an outfit was a rampant trend in the '80s, its popularity quickly turned it into a faux pas through the next century. Now, Hailee is trying out matchy-matchy makeup with her romantic purple smoky eye.

In addition to her pretty makeup, Hailee kept her noticeably long hair straight and parted in the middle. You can fake her hairstyle with temporary clip-in extensions. All in all, Hailee's look works for both a glamorous event and an intimate date alike! Scroll ahead for pictures of her impeccable appearance.

Billy Cyrus Is a Total Stage Dad For Noah at the MTV Movie and TV Awards

The MTV Movie and TV Awards were Noah Cyrus's big night - she performed her new single "Stay Together" for the first time, and like any good dad, Billy Ray Cyrus also showed up to support his younger daughter. There was no sign of sister Miley, so it made for an adorable daddy-daughter date, complete with the two hanging out in the audience, just the two of them.

Prince Harry Comforts a Boy and His Sister Who Are Battling the Same Terminal Illness

One of the things we love most about Prince Harry is his genuine interest in the well-being of other people. While some public figures might shy away from dealing with serious topics such as illness, Harry doesn't think twice about actually physically embracing those who are struggling. That's exactly what he did this week when he reunited with a pair of siblings in a London hospital who are battling the same terminal illness. Harry, who met 6-year-old Ollie Carroll and his little sister, Amelia, at the WellChild Awards last year, spent time with the pair on Tuesday. They both suffer from Batten disease, a rare genetic childhood nervous system disorder that eventually renders patients unable to walk, see, eat, or breathe. Most children diagnosed with Batten do not live past age 12. Ollie and Amelia's two older brothers were tested for the disease and don't have it.

Ollie and Amelia's parents, Lucy and Mike, posted two touching photos of the prince and their children on Facebook, including one of Harry embracing Ollie, who has lost the ability to stand on his own. "For an hour Prince Harry sat with us talking and playing with our children, laughing and making memories," they wrote. "The very thing our children want the most in life [is] to be happy and having fun. We feel so much pride knowing that Ollie and Amelia are touching the lives of the people they meet, with their love and their strength. The love, the support, and the laughter within that treatment room on Tuesday will stay with us forever. From the bottom of our hearts we thank Prince Harry for his support, his time, and his kindness towards our family and our journey with Batten Disease. It was truly incredible to watch him with our children and to have the opportunity to talk with him about our journey."

Every Crazy, Sexy, and Cool Moment From the MTV Movie and TV Awards

The MTV Movie and TV Awards went down at the Shrine Auditorium in LA on Sunday night, and as usual, the show (and red carpet) was full of wonderful and hilarious chaos. After rain and hail temporarily shut down the carpet (making it impossible for some of our favorite stars to pose for photos), the show kicked off with a bang. There were emotional acceptance speeches, fan girl moments over Zac Efron, deserving winners, and 13 Reasons Why costar reunions. See all the best moment from the show below!

Take Notes! Amandla Stenberg Demonstrates How to Wear Blue Lipstick

Amandla Stenberg arrived at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards wearing yet another refreshingly edgy look. The 18-year-old actress who's wise beyond her years rocked blue lipstick reminiscent of the grunge beauty trends that have come to define the '90s.

Apart from her bold lipstick, Amandla kept the rest of her makeup simple with defined eyebrows and minimal eye makeup. In addition, Amandla has continued to maintain her shaved head since cutting it earlier this year for her role in the upcoming movie Where Hands Touch. In an Instagram post about the film and her fresh cut, Amandla wrote, "Feels really good. I feel so aerodynamic now."

To replicate Amandla's look, try the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Moscow ($6) or Urban Decay's Vice Lipstick in Heroine ($15). For super sheer and subtle option, try Lipstick Queen's Hello Sailor Lipstick ($25) - the deceptively blue shade will gently guide you out of your comfort zone.

You Probably Didn't Notice the Best Part About Jordana's Brewster's MTV Awards Look

Jordana Brewster came ready to make heads turn at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards. The actress wore an Antonio Berardi dress that hugged her in all of the right places. And while the mix-and-match of materials on the dress went perfectly with the high-low detail in the skirt, what you might not have noticed is the fun hairstyle Jordana paired with her dress for the show. The Brazilian-Panamanian beauty took her look to warrior princess levels with her intricate zig-zag high ponytail.

Jordana was there to receive the Generation Award for The Fast and Furious franchise with costars Michelle Rodriguez and Vin Diesel. Keep scrolling to see her full look.

This Student's Essay on 12 Years a Slave Is Both Candid and Heartwrenching

Although it's probably not the best idea to cram on a college paper, one college student is going viral because of it. On April 18, Twitter user Stephy (@stephypie15) tweeted a photo of her college essay, writing "Possibly the best sentence I've ever written." In the sentence, Stephy calls out Edwin Epps, a plantation owner who viciously mistreated slaves in Solomon Northup's memoir, 12 Years a Slave.

"Yes, Edwin Epps is getting his own paragraph because that's how much of a piece of sh*t he was," she wrote. Her brother, Eric, followed up with a photo of his sister's graded paper, and let's just say it made her professor sound like the coolest professor ever. Instead of getting upset over Stephy's use of profanity, the professor simply wrote "LOL true" next to her candid sentence.

"I won't knock you for language here [because] the Epps warrant it, but just as general advice you should try to avoid it in academic papers for other professors," the professor added as a side note on the page. After calling Epps and his wife "sh*t human beings" and "scum of the Earth," her professor simply responded with "Fair enough."

Twitter users could not handle how chill Stephy's professor was about it all. According to Eric, Stephy received a 95 on her last-minute paper and Stephy went on to call her professor "the best." Keep reading to see some of the best reactions to the epic essay ahead.

Emma Watson Was Basically the MVP of the MTV Movie and TV Awards

No one could get enough of Emma Watson at the MTV Movie and TV Awards on Sunday night, and for good reason. After sharing an adorable moment with presenter and nonbinary actor Asia Kate Dillon on stage, the Beauty and the Beast star took home the inaugural award for best actor in a movie for playing Belle, which she celebrated by giving a passionate, important acceptance speech. Later, Emma (dressed like a chic disco ball, natch) bumped into Stranger Things actress and fellow award winner Millie Bobby Brown, who could barely hold it together while meeting her (which, same, Millie). As if all of that wasn't cute enough, she also had the best time with Logan costars Hugh Jackman and Dafne Keen, which resulted in one of the best photos of the night.

This Tiny Detail About Emma's Solo on Once Upon a Time Will Make You Sob

Warning: post contains mild spoilers from Once Upon a Time's musical episode.

Once Upon a Time's musical episode is the perfect tribute to the past six seasons of the fairytale drama. Not only does it take us back to the Enchanted Forest, but it also reminded us that love is the most powerful magic of all. While there are several incredible numbers throughout, the most moving has to be Emma's big solo.

With a dark curse looming over the town, Emma is ready to sacrifice herself for the ones she loves most. She is just about to hand her heart over to the Black Fairy when Henry swoops in to offer some much-needed hope. After finding a missing page from the story book, Henry discovers that once upon a time, Snow White made a wish upon a star, causing the whole town to sing their feelings. Even though their memories of the day faded away, their songs did not. Instead, they were buried deep inside Emma's heart. Feeling like a lost girl her whole life, Emma realizes that she was never truly alone. With her newfound courage, she finds a way to stand up to the Black Fairy and break her family free.

While the lyrics (and Jennifer Morrison's voice) are incredibly powerful, it's the heartbreaking melody that really makes us emotional. Turns out, the song is actually adapted from Emma's musical score throughout the past six seasons. When you listen to it again with that in mind, it becomes so much more than a epic solo. It's a beautiful testament to how far Emma has come and how much she's grown not just as the Savior, but as a hero.

The Final Wonder Woman Trailer Is Here to Shake You to the Core

Back in July, we got our first in-depth look at the Wonder Woman movie when DC released an epic teaser clip as part of its presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. During Sunday's MTV Movie & TV Awards, a brand-spankin'-new trailer for the film dropped, making us hungrier and more excited than ever for the powerhouse film. We've still got weeks to go until the June 2 release, but with plenty of new details, a full cast list on our radar, and this new preview, we may yet be able to hold out until then. Suit up: this is going to be an epic, badass ride.

Here's the full trailer:

Oh, and here's the clip that was released at Comic-Con:

This Is the Best Look at Spider-Man: Homecoming We've Gotten So Far

Sure, this is the third time Spider-Man has been rebooted for the big screen over the last couple of decades, but who's counting when the movie looks this fun? MTV has revealed a new clip for Spider-Man: Homecoming, and it sees the young Peter Parker (Tom Holland) mastering his spidey senses yet again, but this time he has plenty of help from fellow superhero Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). That also should remind you that this is a Marvel movie, as young Peter is now an Avenger. Not to mention it looks like a Marvel movie, rad-looking visuals and action sequences and all. Keep your eyes peeled for Zendaya, as well as Michael Keaton as the movie's villain the Vulture (who looks pretty terrifying, to say the least). Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out on July 7.

Watch the teaser and trailers below!

The It Remake Looks So F*cking Scary, You Guys

Because we can't just let terrifying stories fade into obscurity, Warner Bros. is remaking Stephen King's It. The latest trailer, which premiered at the MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday, is a total nightmare. If you're familiar with the original film or the book, you'll notice several key scenes in both the new and old trailers, including the rain gutter incident. (Side note: f*ck that.) Bill Skarsgard (Allegiant) is playing Pennywise the clown, who will undoubtedly scar a new generation. The movie, also starring Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard, will be out on Sept. 8. Check out the trailer and some stills below.

Nope.

NOPE.

NOPE NOPE NOPE.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOPE.

Millie Bobby Brown, Smart Girl, Hugs Zac Efron at the MTV Awards

Millie Bobby Brown had the time of her life at the MTV Movie and TV Awards on Sunday, and we have the pictures to prove it. After joining host Adam DeVine on stage for his Beauty and the Beast opener, the Stranger Things actress melted our hearts when she started sobbing during her speech for best actor in a TV show. Don't worry, though - she was completely tear-free when she adorably fangirled over some of the night's other big stars, including Zac Efron, Emma Watson, and Cara Delevingne.

While we wait for the upcoming season, allow this mini reunion of the two stars to hold you over until then.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend Recreated That Epic Spider-Man Kiss

Mary Jane and Spider-Man have nothing on Chrissy Teigen and John Legend. Ahead of Sunday night's Lip Sync Battle against Spider-Man: Homecoming costars Zendaya and Tom Holland, Chrissy shared a hilarious video of her dangling from the roof. Not only did she don the superhero's iconic costume, but her husband even joined her on stage to recreate that epic upside-down kiss from the 2002 film starring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. Let's just say, they totally nailed it!

Chris Pine Clarifies Which Hollywood Chris He Actually Is on SNL

No, Chris Pine is not Thor. During his opening monologue on Saturday Night Live, the Wonder Woman actor took a moment to clarify that he's not Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, or Chris Pratt. After Leslie Jones confused him with the wrong Marvel character, Chris set the record straight by singing a tune set to Billy Joel's classic "Uptown Girl." Aside from showing off his gorgeous voice, he even brought up a creative board to help the audience tell the difference.

Farrah Abraham Responds to Cultural Appropriation Claims: "I Wanted to Bring Culture to the Red Carpet"

Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham is stirring up controversy on the MTV Movie and TV Awards red carpet. The reality TV personality chose to wear a bindi on her forehead, mehndi on her hands, and a maang tikka in her hair, along with a traditional lengha to the event. (Reminder: Farrah has said she is of Syrian, Italian, Sicilian, and Danish descent).

Twitter users were livid, slamming her for cultural appropriation. After all, facets of Farrah's look are of special significance in Indian culture, with mehndi and maang tikka being traditionally worn by brides, while bindi are religious or spiritual embellishments, worn daily or at celebrations.

However, according to outlet TooFab, which got an exclusive interview with the star, Farrah is not concerned "at all" about being accused of cultural appropriation. In fact, she wore this look specifically because she "wanted to bring culture to the red carpet."

"I think this will inspire others to embrace new cultures and have good experiences," Farrah told TooFab, adding that her controversial look made her feel "freaking amazing, Bollywood and sexy!"

Read on to see more shots of Farrah, then check out some of the backlash she's getting on Twitter.

Asia Kate Dillon Was the Best Choice to Kick Off the First Non-Gender-Specific MTV Movie and TV Awards

The MTV Movie and TV Awards has done away with gender labels on award categories, and what better way to honor that special accomplishment than with actor Asia Kate Dillon. Asia is the first openly nonbinary-identifying actor to be cast in a major TV series as a nonbinary character in Billions, although you probably recognize them from their role in Orange Is the New Black. The actor presented the first award of the night, which was the best actor in a movie award, won by Emma Watson for Beauty and the Beast.

Asia could not have been more excited and proud to present the first gender-free award of the night, and their big smile says it all. While presenting, the 32-year-old actor brought up an important point: acting should "celebrate human portrayals" and actors should not be judged differently because of their gender.

This isn't the fist time Asia has spoken about award show categories. For the 2017 Emmys, the Academy asked Asia if they would like to be considered for "supporting actor" or "supporting actress," and it sparked a conversation about what qualifies for each category. Asia wrote a letter to the Academy and soon found that "anyone can submit under either category for any reason."

"Given the choice between actor and actress, actor is a nongendered word that I use," Asia said. "That's why I chose actor." They told Variety that they're "excited" for the changes that are happening. "I am grateful to be in the position to have written that letter, to have gotten a response, and to have been a part of a conversation that, regardless of whether or not I get a nomination or win, this conversation is going to shift the way that award shows happen from now on," Asia said.

We're looking forward to learning more and hearing more from Asia, who is doing their part to educate the world.

Taraji P. Henson Is Full of Wisdom During Her MTV Awards Speech

Taraji P. Henson took home the award for best fight against the system for her role in Hidden Figures at the MTV Movie and TV Awards on Sunday night, and you better believe her speech was incredibly inspiring. The actress was full of wisdom as she took the stage to talk about the important message behind her Oscar-nominated film. "God is very clever," she told the audience. "He made us all different for a reason, so we better figure it out."
