A Celebrity Stylist Reveals How to Get the Best Beach Waves of Your Life This Summer

For most, when they hear the words "effortlessly sexy hair," beach waves come to mind. But unless you're particularly handy with hot tools (or just blessed with perfectly tousled texture), achieving that look is not quite as simple as it looks.

There are a couple of issues at play here. If you have straight hair, you might relate to our eternal struggle to appear as if we just stepped off a boardwalk rather than looking like a sea witch. And even if you have exactly the right curls naturally, you could still be screwed over at the salon. No matter where you go, practically every stylist has a different definition of beach waves (and god help you if you don't bring a celebrity photo for reference). You never know if you'll hit the jackpot or end up looking far more matronly than marvelous.

To ensure you end up with exactly the sexy, lived-in look you're craving, we consulted Chris Appleton, Color Wow ambassador and the mane man of Kim Kardashian, Jourdan Dunn, and more celebrities. He outlined four different types of hair textures and revealed exactly how they should be styled (step by step!) for beach waves. Not only that, but he also provided the lingo women need to say while in the salon chair to get the stylish strands of their dreams. Read on!

I Brought 2 Skincare Secrets Home From Japan - and They Transformed My Complexion

The rumors are true: Asia is a skincare paradise, and its women have flawless complexions. I was able to witness this IRL on a press trip to Okinawa with beauty brand SK-II. The company was hosting an event to discover Asia's next top beauty creator, and thus hundreds of influencers from across the continent had descended upon the Japanese island.

I don't think I saw a single blemish, wrinkle, or dry patch on a face other than my own throughout my visit, and I was obviously eager to learn the secret behind perfection. I met with Kazumi Toyama, Global SK-II senior manager, Technical Marketing & Scientific Communications, to unveil the defining differences between Asian and Western skincare regimens. According to her, there are only two distinctions - and they are so simple! - but they are essential for a youthful, glowing complexion.

You're removing your eye makeup wrong.

You've probably heard that ever since you were old enough to understand what eye cream was, it should be applied with caution to this delicate area. But while I've been daintily applying treatments with the pad of my ring finger, I've also been removing my eye makeup like a savage, leaving my skin streaked and slightly sore from rubbing. This is unacceptable behavior overseas.

Kazumi noted that heavier eye makeup is starting to increase in popularity in Asia, as smoky eyes and other Kardashian makeup is migrating there from the states. However, there's more education behind eye care there. "We're teaching them how to do the gentle removal," she said. "Because we know that this area really is the fastest to show signs of aging, we make sure that when we cleanse, it's very gentle."

That means no aggressive rubbing. Instead, simply soak a cotton pad with your favorite makeup remover, press it firmly to your closed eyelid, and hold it there for around 10 seconds. (This will allow the formula to dissolve your mascara, liner, shadow, and any other products.) Then, gently wipe off your makeup in one smooth motion. Repeat as necessary until the cotton pad comes away clean. Dr. Jart+ Dermaclear Micro Makeup Remover Pads ($20) are designed for this exact method and are infused with a cleanser with a milky formula, the texture that Kazumi recommends for makeup removal.

Swap out your toner for facial essence.

The other minor skin switch? Put down your toner. For many American beauty junkies, this is the first slot in a skincare regimen postcleanse, but it's creating a stripped, parched canvas for the following products. "It's harsh and removes water rather than adds it," Kazumi said.

After Asian women wash their faces, they use an essence instead. This is not a generalization - according to Kazumi, approximately 95 percent of consumers overseas incorporate essences into their routines. "It's very specific to Asian skin care," she said.

Approximately 95 percent of consumers overseas incorporate essences into their routines.

As you've likely noticed, essences (also known as "clear lotions") have made their way into American skincare markets, but there is still a lot of confusion around these formulas. Essences basically function as a thin, watery serum that is meant to be patted into clean skin as the first step of any regimen. They're packed with high concentrations of powerful ingredients and infuse a complexion with deep hydration.

SK-II's Facial Treatment Essence ($179) contains more than 90 percent of Pitera, the brand's fermented, yeast-derived star ingredient, which hydrates, brightens, and gently exfoliates without stripping the skin. And, like most essences, it absorbs quickly and leaves no residue behind, making an ideal addition into even the laziest of regimens. However, don't use essence as a replacement for moisturizer (in other words, don't be too lazy). You should be following the application of this step with a hydrating cream like they do in Asia.

Seeing the precedence that was placed on proper skincare routines abroad, I gave my own a complete overhaul after returning home from Japan. I also incorporated both of these tricks into my regular regimen. I confess that I am still struggling to be patient when removing my eye makeup, but I am officially addicted to using an essence and don't go a day without using SK-II's. I have always been blessed with good skin, but now more than ever, I am receiving compliments on its luminosity and even tone. Discover more essence shopping recommendations here.

Believe the Hype: Glossier's New SPF Is Seriously Amazing

Glossier has achieved what I had believed to be impossible: created excitement around wearing sunscreen.

SPF has traditionally been a less-than-fun product to wear. It's typically greasy (making it a challenging base for makeup), chalky (not ideal for women of color), and all around dissatisfying to use. And because of these characteristics - and despite the horrifying risks of skin cancer - many women have opted to skip applying it for years. I am one of those women, and I feel guilt every single morning because of it.

But now, I have absolutely no excuses. That's because after a great deal of speculation from its fans, Glossier released its very first SPF, Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen+ ($34). Just like the rest of the items in the millennial beauty brand's lineup, it was carefully developed - over the course of two years! - and its launch painstakingly planned, resulting in hype from fans around the world even though it's only available in the states. I've been watching redditors on the /r/SkincareAddiction subreddit posting about it for a while, getting excited about the product's prospects and theorizing about the formula. It seems to me that most will be deeply satisfied by Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen+, as I am.

Its purpose is two-fold. It features broad spectrum SPF 35 protection with chemical sunscreens to provide defense from UVA/UVB rays. However, it's also loaded with tons of antioxidants, including vitamin E, vitamin P (flavonoids), broccoli, and aloe leaf extracts to shield your skin from free radicals and pollution.

The benefits are obviously stellar, but it's the formula itself that makes it stand out. It's a completely clear gel that feels silky upon application but absorbs practically immediately, leaving no residue or tint behind. This is great news for women with deeper complexions – no chalkiness to speak of, here! Bonus: that same silky texture lends itself beautifully to layering makeup on top.

As a packaging junkie, I'm also really pleased by the container Glossier chose for Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen+. It's a lightweight tube with an airless pump with a completely opaque exterior, so no external factors like air, sunlight, or bacteria can get inside and spoil the formula.

If you are looking for a completely odorless SPF, this formula is not it. Invisible Shield has a subtle citrus aroma that fades as quickly as the product dries, leaving behind a classic (albeit light) sunscreen smell. It's also a little on the pricey side, however, its texture and feel are so satisfying that I doubt its scent will keep you from buying it. I personally plan on using this Glossier launch all Summer long and hope that a full-body formula is in the works!

You can buy Glossier Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen+ ($34) now on Glossier's website.

6 Things You Can Use to Fill Résumé Gaps

You're looking for a job, but it's taking a while, and the gap in your résumé seems to be growing bigger as time passes. Your situation is pretty understandable in this tough economy, so don't feel insecure about it. What you can do to make yourself stand out as an excellent job candidate is to prove that you've been making good use of your time. Here are some things you can do to fill the résumé gaps:

  • Volunteer: Don't shy away from stating your volunteer activities on your résumé, whether it be for a nonprofit for a cause you love or doing some pro bono work in your field. Both kinds of volunteer work make for great learning experiences.
  • Professional Organizations: Being part of an organization related to your field will help your résumé gap as well as aid you in your networking. Try to lobby for a position at a professional organization, and participate in activities that will give you a lot of face time with people.
  • Temping: We've given some tips onlisting your temp jobs on your résumé. But do consider temping while you're looking for a job - it's a great way to earn cash, and maybe even a chance for you to get a foot in the company you're keen on working for.
  • Blogging: Blogging is a great way to release your frustrations and can be an interesting detail to put on your résumé. To make it more relevant, it would be great if you can blog about something in your field. You can also polish your web design skills so your employer knows that you have a lot of talent up your sleeve!
  • Classes: Taking some courses at a local college is a good way to learn new skills or polish up old ones which will make you a more valuable job candidate. It will also show that you're really serious about continuously improving yourself.
  • Freelance: Start freelancing or even start your own company while you're out there looking for jobs. A lot of people start their own small business as a way to make extra cash, and even if it isn't related to your field, it shows a lot of initiative and creativity.

1 Transgender Woman Explains Why She Feels Like a Superhero

When I was younger, I lived vicariously through the superheroes and heroines who appeared on TV screens or in comic books. Wonder Woman, Superman, Spider Man, the Power Rangers, you name them. I remember fantasizing over what it would be like to have supernatural powers and superhuman strength. No matter how dangerous situations became, there was never a threat big enough to deter these heroic figures from doing the right thing at all costs. As if their courage wasn't enough, they always held a certain je ne sais quoi I deeply admired.

However, despite their incredible abilities, they hid who they truly were and instead assumed the identities of ordinary people. I always wondered if they would trade in their gifts if given the opportunity. One thing every hero and heroine had in common is that none of them ever chose the life. It was their destiny. Who would have known that, years later, as a transgender woman of color, I would become a heroine for revealing my true identity and standing my ground in spaces that didn't readily welcome me. What I do requires hero-like courage: to hold space in a society that oppresses women, people of color, gays, and lesbians and threatens to erase anyone who falls outside of a cisgender-heteronormative identity.

Imagine what it would be like if our favorite superheroes revealed their true identities to the world. Not only would they become more vulnerable to the villains who plot their demise, but they'd also have to deal with criticism and judgment from the very citizens they vowed to protect. As a trans woman of color, my very existence is revolutionary and disruptive to traditional societal norms, but I'm willing to challenge those norms if it means creating safe spaces for others to live authentically and without fear.

Despite the frightening times we live in, it's important that transgender people not allow ourselves to be bullied into rejecting our true identities. Regardless of the backlash, rejection, and fear-mongering we're subjected to, we must remain visible to the world free of disguise. This sends the message that we will not tolerate villainy in any form or fashion, nor will we be hindered from taking paths that lead to our true life's purpose. Our heroism comes from our willingness to hold space, without approval or permission. We must continue to stand in the face of adversity and tackle all obstacles that come our way.

It's important that transgender people not allow ourselves to be bullied into rejecting our true identities.
Transgender women of color were on the front lines of Stonewall and led the movement toward LGBTQ liberation and equality. When the AIDS epidemic devastated the gay community in the '80s, it was lesbian women who rolled up their sleeves and came to the rescue. But even in cities like West Hollywood, which has a large gay population and is celebrated for its progressive culture, trans women of color still suffer a great deal of lateral oppression at the hands of some of our privileged white cisgender gay brothers.

Recently I had a reservation at an upscale restaurant in West Hollywood that boasts of its celebrity regulars. From the time I walked into the door until the time I left, I was exposed to transphobia, racist microaggressions, and humiliation and was treated so poorly I went home in tears. Everything that transpired that evening continued to replay in my mind on repeat. The attendant at the front door wouldn't honor my gender identity and correct pronouns. I was rejected despite my reservation. I was taken aside and monitored by security as if my presence was criminal. The worse part is that once I was seated, I was shown the discounted section of the menu and "sister-girled" - that is, spoken to with unnatural stereotypical slang that African-American women are supposed to better respond to. Convinced things couldn't become worse, the manager gaslighted me and dismissed me in front of other patrons, reinforcing society's beliefs that trans people don't matter. The most devastating part of this experience was that although this took place in a heterocentric restaurant, the employees who treated me so savagely were gay men.

Sadly, this doesn't come as a surprise to me. For gay men who struggle with internalized homophobia, being accepted into heterocentric spaces feels rewarding. However, when trans women or non-binary queer people who are more expressive in their identities enter those spaces, we somehow pose a threat to that acceptance. These individuals fear that our identities will reinforce the stereotypes and criticism they've endured in their lives. They project those fears onto us through subconscious lateral oppression.

This is problematic because the LGBTQ community at large cannot demand that society treats us with dignity and respect if we lack the capacity to extend the same respect to members of our very own community.

The most devastating part of this experience was that the employees who treated me so savagely were gay men.
I wanted to write this piece for two reasons: to let trans, queer people, and people of color know that they aren't alone in the injustices they face and to reinforce that we deserve better. My intention is to encourage others to speak up so that our collective voices can amplify that message. Let this piece serve as a call to action for marginalized communities to unify and mobilize so that we're able to withstand everything coming our way in this social and political climate. It is all of us or none of us. The entire community and our allies must tap into our superhuman powers and push for change the best way we know how.

One of the most powerful ways to push for change is to be intentional about where we spend our money and what businesses we support. Without me having to name them, I'm sure you can think of at least three corporations that were recently boycotted because of their anti-LGBTQ, misogynistic, or racist views. Those boycotts were powerful and heavily impactful. When we withhold our resources from unethical business and companies, we send the message that we will be heard, and if we are not treated with the dignity and respect we deserve, we will not continue to place value in companies that don't see the value in us as people. A brand doesn't make us; we make the brand.

What corporations know that some of you may not is that LGBTQ people in the United States alone contributed $917 billion toward our economy in 2016, according to Bloomberg. We also spent a whopping $75 billion on tourism and travel. Protests, marches, and rallies are great, but we are also learning that there is power in our purchases. We need to hold to the fire the restaurants, businesses, and corporations that refuse to value our existence and to withhold our purchasing power to remind them how much we contribute to this country. I called out Catch LA on every review site and platform I could, and it touched my heart to see so many of our allies and other community members share the information and take a stand with me. By calling them out, it prevents them from benefiting from spending power that should go toward businesses that foster diverse and inclusive spaces. Change doesn't always welcome us through the front door. It's up to us to go through the back door, the chimney, the windows, and the basement to gain entry. We have the power to affect change. We are a powerful people. Now is the time to tap into that superpower.

These Talented Ballerinas Appear to Float on Air in a Stunning Performance

A mind-boggling video of Russian ballerinas is going viral thanks to a recent Imgur post that called out how freakishly cool the performance is. In the five-minute video, which was uploaded in 2012, several ballerinas appear to float on air, but the real mind trick is they're actually not floating. The dancers are simply performing on the tips of their toes, also known as en pointe in the ballet world. The synchronized movement coupled with the flowy gowns gives the appearance of floating, and it's jaw-dropping to witness.

Watch the stunning video above to see for yourself. If that's not enough ballet for you, check out 23 breathtaking shots of ballerinas against city backdrops.

In Honor of Miley's New Song, Here Are Some Photos of Her and Liam in Malibu

Miley Cyrus recently released "Malibu," her first musical offering since 2015, and the song is very clearly about her on-again fiancé Liam Hemsworth. Lyrics like "I never came to the beach, or stood by the ocean / I never sat by the shore, under the sun with my feet in the sand / But you brought me here and I'm happy that you did" reference their meeting on the 2010 movie The Last Song (which was set on the beach), and "I'd spent the rest of my life standing here talking / You would explain the current, as I try to smile" alluding to Liam being an avid surfer. The couple currently lives together in the California beach town, so "Here I am, next to you / The sky's more blue in Malibu" paints a pretty picture of their life since rekindling their romance in early 2016. In honor of the song (which we've had on repeat since it dropped), here are some cute photos of Liam and Miley in Malibu.

This Trick Will Magically Turn the Shade of Your Hydrangeas

Source: Flickr user Ryutaro Koma

If you've ever admired a hydrangea bush blooming in all sorts of pastel shades, you'll be happy to know that the look is achieved by a simple science trick! You can actually change the color of your hydrangeas - making them pink, blue, or ethereal shades of periwinkle - by following these steps. Here's how to master the pastel rainbow effect:

  1. Make Sure You Have the Right Type of Hydrangea
Only hydrangea macrophylla (aka mopheads and lacecaps) can actually change color, so make sure you buy the right kind.
  2. Measure the Soil pH
It's easy - we promise! Use a soil test kit to figure out your soil pH levels. To get blue flowers, you'll want your soil to be acidic with pH levels of 5.5 or lower. For pink flowers, you'll want more alkaline soil with pH levels of 6.5 or higher. To achieve that pretty palette of blue, pink, and purple hues, get your soil to a pH level between 5.5 and 6.5.
  3. Adjust the pH Levels of Your Soil to Get the Color You Want
Bailey's Color Me Blue (soil sulfur) or Bailey's Color Me Pink (garden lime) are great for adjusting pH levels, but you can also use a few homemade tricks, like using composted oak leaves, pine needles, or coffee grounds for blue flowers or wood ashes, lime, or fertilizers with high levels of phosphorus (a ratio of 25-10-10 is best) to prevent aluminum from entering the plant's system for pink flowers. This helpful guide will tell you how much additives to use for raising or lowering the pH levels.
  4. Keep Treating Your Soil, and Be Patient
Continue treating the top layer of soil around the root area to keep the flowers in the desired shade. This process can take months, so be patient.

In fact, her lineup of practical pairs doesn't stand out at all; it's neutral and functional, proper for an on-the-go lifestyle. That doesn't mean Jen doesn't keep strappy stilettos on hand for date night - they're just simple and presumably comfortable, considering how often she wears them while out with her husband, Justin Theroux.

From fancier types to low-top sneakers and the in-between - which for Jen is a Burberry ankle-wrap wedge - we consider her shoe closet to be stocked full of essentials. Scroll for a look at the designs Jen always keeps on rotation through the warmer months, then fill in the gaps in your own wardrobe by shopping her picks.

You'll Have a Hard Time Not Obsessing Over Meryl Streep and Don Gummer's Gorgeous Family

Meryl Streep and Don Gummer are coming up on 39 years of marriage in September, and much like their romance, we love getting glimpses of their sweet family life. Meryl and Don have four children together: daughters Louisa, Grace, and Mamie and son Henry. Both Grace and Mamie are actresses, while Louisa is a model and Henry is a musician. In 2006, Meryl opened up about the importance of family, telling Parade magazine, "I think I was wired for family. You know how they say people are wired for religion, or wired for this or that? I always knew I would like to, if I could find the right person, have a family." Take a look at the brood's best moments.

Trump Is Displaying an Election Results Map in the White House, Because of Course He Is

Thanks to one sneaky reporter, we now have some interesting insight on how President Donald Trump is planning to decorate part of the White House. We already know of a few major changes he's made to the Oval Office, but now it looks like the POTUS is tossing in an additional decoration that has us (and the rest of the internet, for that matter) shaking our heads.

Trey Yingst, a White House correspondent for One America News Network, recently tweeted an image of a large framed map displaying Trump's 2016 electoral college victory. "Spotted: A map to be hung somewhere in the West Wing," the reporter explained in the tweet. Yes, Trump still can't get over the election. Maybe he should also consider displaying that side-by-side comparison of his inauguration to Barack Obama's to bring him back down to earth a bit.

When Yingst shared the news of this eye-roll-inducing decor choice, his tweet quickly went viral, with many replying to comment on how "insecure" and "petty" the current White House staff is.

Maybe Trump should take Hillary Clinton's advice and stop talking about the election already.

Harry Styles Might Be Dating the World's Most Stylish Celebrity Chef

Admittedly, I didn't know much about Tess Ward until she made headlines for showing up to the Audi Polo Challenge in a Gucci blouse previously spotted on Harry Styles. Apparently, she was also seen getting into the singer's car, sparking rumors that the former One Direction band member has a new girlfriend. Single or not, 27-year-old UK-based Tess is damn stylish and, most importantly, making a name for herself in both the fashion and food worlds.

Tess popularized The Naked Diet and she runs her own blog called The Yes Chef. Being a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef, she doesn't just host parties for top UK brands like Mulberry and Alice Temperley - she also hangs with the model crowd. Tess's Instagram is quite literally delicious and envy-inducing, and you should absolutely follow her right away for inspiration purposes, and, you know, to keep an eye out for any more of Harry's designer shirts.

5 Photos of Your Kids That You Shouldn't Post to Social Media

If anyone knows how tempting it is to share our kids' hysterical, adorable, or unreal moments with our entire social networks, it's us. We get it. Proud parents want to shout their children's accomplishments - regardless of how big or small - from the (virtual) rooftop. But the Internet is a vast and potentially scary place, and it's our duty to protect our families. As nice as it would be if those privacy settings were a sufficient barrier, there are still caveats to every safety net that we have to be conscious of. Here, five times that parents should hold off on sharing their kids' snaps with the Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter-verse.

"You Have Been the Greatest Threat to My Family": Constituents Erupt at Rep. MacArthur

The GOP representative who played a key part in helping the new version of the American Health Care Act (AHCA) pass the House was met with anger, protests, and yelling at a town hall. Representative Tom MacArthur held a five-hour town hall on May 10, where one constituent said MacArthur is "the single greatest threat to my family."

MacArthur, of New Jersey's third congressional district, was a key member in helping the AHCA pass the house with the MacArthur-Meadows Amendment. This amendment would let states get waivers to "weaken several key Obamacare insurance reforms" like the preexisting condition one, reports CNN. Under Obamacare, insurance companies can't discriminate against someone based on their health history. Well, MacArthur's help in crafting this amendment led people to berate him at a town hall.

Two key moments during the town hall quickly went viral. One focused on 17-year-old Daisy Confoy, who asked him whether rape was a preexisting condition. "I will not describe a violent act against a woman as a preexisting condition," he said, reports ThinkProgress. You can watch Confoy talk to MacArthur in a clip ahead.

Another came when medical assistant Geoff Ginter told MacArthur, "You have been the single biggest threat to my family in the entire world." He told MacArthur how his wife beat cancer and his children have preexisting conditions as well. "You are the reason I stay up at night." Watch Ginter's tense speech ahead.

Throughout the town hall, people also yelled "liar" at MacArthur. Some like Derek Reichenbecher reminded him that the bill is only alive because of him. "This is your health care bill. It was dead in the water. It could have stayed dead in the water and now it's the MacArthur Amendment that brought this thing forward," said Reichenbecher, according to NPR.

Before the town hall even started, people were lying on the ground outside of the event, with tombstone-decorated signs that read "Couldn't Afford Asthma Care." Others held posters that said "Killer Tom," and there was even an inflatable chicken that looked like Trump. It should've prepared MacArthur for what was to come.

At the end of the five-hour town hall, one constituent did thank MacArthur for showing up and letting them "voice [their] concerns."

MacArthur will hopefully learn from his constituents and realize that these are the people who voted for him - and will determine whether they vote for him again.

Pippa Middleton Reportedly Has an Unusual Fashion Request For Her Guests

New details about Pippa Middleton's wedding seem to emerge every day, but there are two fashion-related rumors that seem plausible. Contrary to the norm, the future bride has reportedly asked guests to pack two outfits for her nuptials: one for the ceremony and one for the reception on May 20. Pippa will be married in a church and afterwards, the party will be held at her parents' house. If you're thinking a two outfit request is a little over the top, you might be right. But, she is Kate Middleton's stylish little sister, after all, and both Prince William and Prince Harry (as well as other important guests and royals) will be in attendance.

One of the attendees even happens to be Meghan Markle (who was the exception to Pippa's reported "no ring, no bring" policy). The Suits actress reportedly already had two fittings for her wedding-guest look, and she may even wear a hat to the reception. Given the royals' fondness for fascinators, Meghan's hat choice could be right on trend. Regardless of what actually happens at the wedding, we have no doubt Pippa and her guests will look amazing on the big day.

Let's All Gawk at Jason Momoa's First Red Carpet Appearance - Ever

It's been 17 years since Jason Momoa first stepped onto the red carpet, and he has come a long way. The Aquaman stud got his start on Baywatch in 1999, and a year later, he appeared on the red carpet for the Eighth Annual Seventeen Magazine Party. There's only one picture of the appearance, and as you can see, he hadn't yet grown out his luscious locks (short hair is a good look for him) and he looks a little bit camera shy. Thank goodness he's out of that phase now.

Known as Lanaartisry on her social media channels, Lana is a self-taught makeup artist from Australia who is amazing makeup mavens everywhere with her artistic talent.

Lana uses a base of concealer to start her impressive portraits, which she paints on her arm. She then adds shading with pencil and a variety of colored cosmetics to fill in eye and hair color, as well as applying makeup to the drawn blogger's face. The results are eerily realistic, and Lana even has been reposted by a few of the bloggers she's drawn.

Although Lana has only recently started her blogger portrait series, they're amazing to look at, and we hope she continues making these beautiful pieces of artwork for us to admire.

These Are the Jeans You'll Want to Spend All Summer In

If for you Summer just means pulling out your white jeans from the back of the closet, that's A-OK. We're here for it. But we're diving a little further into the denim pool this season and shopping for feel-good graphics, floral embroidery, and breezy, cropped silhouettes too.

They say denim's the fabric of our lives, so why not ensure you've got a handful of pants to keep on rotation as the temperatures rise? Trust us, even when it's 80 and up, you'll still find a tube top, bodysuit, or, hey, even a bikini to style with the 12 bottoms ahead.

Tear Gas Grenades Didn't Stop This Venezuelan Protestor From Playing the National Anthem

Protests against the left-wing, teetering-on-a-dictatorship government have continued to rock Venezuela. The crisis, which began roughly three years ago, has descended into chaos. In recent weeks, antigovernment activists have encountered a violent response from the military; since demonstrations reignited in the last month, 37 people have been killed. Yet amid the upheaval, an ardent love of country persists among the protesters, and a haunting video of a young man playing the national anthem - while tear gas grenades detonate around him - exemplifies their passion.

The powerful moment was captured by local journalist Iván Ernesto Reyes and shared on Twitter. The young man's face is unidentifiable and covered, but his youth is apparent. The video is especially poignant given the death of another violinist protesting at the end of April.

Reyes spoke to CNN about the video and explained how it came about. "There he was, standing, playing the Venezuelan anthem, and with a couple of kids that were around him, sort of protecting him," Reyes told CNN. "There were bombs, tear gas, and repression, but he kept playing his violin. He did not stop."

In the Twitter post describing the violinist's song, Reyes termed the event as magical realism. "Today I witnessed a true example of magical realism. A protester played his violin while the (national guards) threw tear gas and pellets," Reyes said.

Why You Should Always Wiggle the Machine Before Swiping Your Credit Card

In case you needed another reason to be extra careful when swiping your credit cards at random ATMs, this scary example should definitely do the trick.

Gas Station Skimmer from gifs

As you can see, credit card scammers are getting savvier when it comes to stealing your credit card information by using a small device known as a credit card skimmer. According to PC magazine, "skimmers are essentially malicious card readers that grab the data off the card's magnetic stripe" when you unknowingly insert your credit card into one of them.

The devices are often inconspicuously attached to real ATMs, gas pumps, and payment devices, so it's frighteningly easy to get tricked. The magazine also notes that most scammers will place hidden cameras next to the machines (or even inside of them!) in order to record your credit card's PIN number for later use.

Along with your PIN number and the information cloned from the magnetic strip of your card after you've swiped, scammers can easily access the money in your bank account, which is clearly something we all want to avoid. So the next time you find yourself in front of an ATM or a gas pump, make sure you wiggle the credit card reader, just in case. If anything seems suspicious, don't swipe! Better safe than sorry, right?

This Is What Nars's New Orgasm Lipstick Looks Like on Diverse Skin Tones

Before there were viral Peach Palettes, there was Nars Orgasm blush. The shimmery pink-peach shade is probably the most famous blush - ever! - and it's known to look good on just about everyone. Plus, it gives you that post-romp "afterglow" look.

This Summer, the iconic shade is expanding its empire (there's already a multiuse stick, lip gloss, and liquid illuminator in the hue) to include liquid blush and a lipstick. Here, we're going to discuss the latter.

While Orgasm Lipstick doesn't launch until May 15 ($28), we got advance samples to test. The formula is just as creamy and nourishing as other Nars lipsticks, and it's decently longwear and pigmented.

But would it be like the sisterhood of the traveling lipstick and complement most complexions? Four POPSUGAR editors - with skin tones ranging from pale to dark - swiped on the shimmery peach-pink to see if it's as universally flattering as its sister powder blush. Keep reading for our reviews!
