James Corden Pays Tribute to His Hometown After the London Bridge Attack

James Corden is taking The Late Late Show to London this week, but before kicking things off, he took a moment to pay tribute to the lives lost during the London Bridge Terror Attack on Saturday. "I'm so sad when I think about all the times that I took this job that I had to open our show talking about such atrocities trying to find the right words to say is impossible because there are none," he said during his monologue on Tuesday. "Some people might say it's a strange time to do a variety show from this city - I couldn't disagree more." As he walked down the rainy sidewalk, he explained how proud he was to be able to show off his hometown's beauty, diversity, and it's stoic determination to not let anything stand in its way. "This is not a country that feels afraid," he added.

Strangers Saved This Mom With a Crying Baby From the Worst DMV Experience in History

Waiting in line at the DMV is a terrible, soul-sucking experience on its own - but add a fussy toddler to the mix, and it's basically hell on earth.

That's what Kara Simmons was in store for when she was at the Department of Motor Vehicles with her 18-month-old son.

"At first he was calm, but then after an hour he kicked his shoes off and couldn't stop crying," the mom said in a Facebook post shared by news anchor Frank Somerville.

It got so bad that even she began crying. "I was feeling so alone at one point when I missed my number and was told to get another because I had to chase my baby who had escaped his stroller."

That's when the kindness of strangers kicked in:

A gentlemen came from across the room to sit next to my baby and he blew bubbles that he just happened to have. He had received as a gift from his daughters wedding.

My baby was overjoyed.

I didn't catch this man's name but I thanked him many times. I was so grateful.

This lady, Barbara, also came over with papers, a pen, and a clipboard for my baby to draw. They were both so supportive and friendly. They made me feel welcomed and comfortable.

Somehow, these good samaritans managed to keep Kara's son happy for the remainder of the three hours (yes, three hours!) they were there.

"Barbara stayed with me, caring for my son just like in the photo until I was finished with my business," she wrote. "And when she left she told me I'm a good mom, and to have a great day."

And for anyone who knows the pain of the DMV experience, having it be a "great day" is as close to a miracle as it gets.

10 Things to Know About Broadway Breakout Star Ben Platt

Image Source: Getty / ANGELA WEISS

Broadway's Dear Evan Hansen is stealing the hearts of audiences everywhere this season, and that's in large part due to its star, Ben Platt. Not only does the 23-year-old actor blow everyone away with his portrayal of the socially awkward, anxiety-ridden teen eight times a week, but he's just as charming off stage as he is on. Even if you're not theater-obsessed, odds are, you've probably seen his face before. Pitch Perfect ring a bell? With the Tony Awards approaching this weekend, brush up on these key facts about the rising star below.

  1. He was born and raised in LA. Even though Ben is a Broadway sensation, he actually grew up on the West Coast. He attended the prep school Harvard-Westlake School in LA and graduated in 2011. He is still close friends with his high school classmate Beanie Feldstein, who is Jonah Hill's sister.
  2. He grew up in a musical family. It's no surprise that Ben has a love for theater - it runs in his blood. His father, Marc Platt, is the producer behind La La Land and Wicked. His brother Jonah is also in the business, having starred as Fiyero in the latter musical on Broadway. Ben and his four siblings were often dubbed the Von Platts (based on the Von Trapps from The Sound of Music) for their musical talents growing up.
  3. He's Jewish. Ben is very open about his Jewish background. His mom, Julie, credits their religious upbringing to keeping their kids so grounded in Hollywood.
  4. His first big role was when he was 9. He played Winthrop Paroo in The Music Man at the Hollywood Bowl alongside Kristin Chenoweth, who went on to star as Glinda in his father's production of Wicked. The two actually met backstage when Marc came to see Ben's performance.
  5. He deferred from Columbia to be in The Book of Mormon. After graduating high school, Ben was accepted into Columbia University in New York but put his education on hold to star in The Book of Mormon. He played Elder Arnold Cunningham in the Chicago tour from December 2012-October 2013 and again in the Broadway show from January 2014-January 2015.

  1. He was in an a cappella group on stage and in real life. Ben is well-known for playing the nerdy Treblemaker Benji Applebaum in Pitch Perfect. Interestingly enough, he was also a member of Columbia's musical group Nonsequitur A Cappella.
  2. He originally auditioned for Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen's creators) when he was 17. Before landing the title role in the musical, Ben auditioned for a different Pasek and Paul original called Dogfight, about a group of Marines on the eve of shipping out to Vietnam. Even though they thought Ben was "incredible," he was a little too young for the cast. Following the audition, Benj sent him a Facebook message mentioning another idea they were developing and suggested they stay in touch. Fast forward a few years later, and the trio were working together on Broadway.

  1. He has some insane rituals for his role. Ben takes his role in Dear Evan Hansen very seriously, even if that means living a "monkish existence." His castmates say that he rarely goes out for a celebratory drink at the end of the week and often goes straight home to rest his voice. Aside from getting nine or 10 hours of sleep each night, he also has a strict diet to make sure he stays healthy but can also pass for an anxiety-ridden teen. He's not allowed to eat gluten or dairy, he takes zinc and oregano supplements, and he has two physical therapy sessions a week to make sure his posture doesn't become too much like his character Evan's.
  2. He's the youngest winner of the Drama League Awards. In May, Ben won the organization's distinguished performance award, which recognizes a performance on the New York stage in the past year and can only be won once in a performer's career. At 23, he became the youngest winner in the award's history.
  3. He's up for his first Tony. Ben is a front runner to take home best performance by an actor in a leading role at the Tony Awards this year. Not only would it be his first win, but it is also his first nomination.

Fantastic Beasts: All the Details We Could Conjure Up About the Sequel

If you're still happily dissecting Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, we don't blame you, but there is even more magic in store. Not only do we have four more installments to look forward to, but we already have quite a few tidbits about the upcoming sequel. If you're just as obsessed with the franchise as we are, check out every detail we've managed to gather below.

What It's About

According to a statement from Warner Bros., the second film "moves deeper into an increasingly dark time for the wizarding world, where Newt and our other heroes have to decide on their allegiances." In April, Rowling told fans that Newt's patronus is a "big spoiler."

The Timeline

After the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, J.K. Rowling tweeted out a very important clarification about the timeline of the movies:

1945 happens to be a critical year for the Wizarding world; it's the year Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindlewald have their infamous duel. It would be shocking if we didn't get to see this huge piece of the puzzle in the final film of the series. Coincidentally, 1945 is also the year Tom Riddle begins his rise to power as Lord Voldemort, so there's a lot of ground to cover. Adding to all of this is the fact the studio recently held an open casting call for actors between the ages of 13 and 16 to play young incarnations of Newt Scamander, Leta Lestrange, and a mysterious character named Sebastian. They're also looking for older teenage actors (between 16 and 18 years old) for young Gellert Grindelwald and Albus Dumbledore.

The Production Team

After working on the first film together, David Yates will direct again with J.K. Rowling writing the screenplay. David Heyman, Rowling, Steve Kloves, and Lionel Wigram will also return as producers, and Rowling's agent Neil Blair, Rick Senat, and Danny Cohen will work as executive producers.

The Cast

Eddie Redmayne will return as Newt Scamander, and Johnny Depp is now in a costarring role. Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, and Katherine Waterston are reprising their characters from the first film, but the biggest news is that Jude Law is playing young Dumbledore! A young actor named Callum Turner has also joined as Newt's brother.

The Release Date

The second installment is set to be released on Nov. 16, 2018.

Jerry Seinfeld Rejecting Kesha For a Hug Is So Cringeworthy, We Could Barely Watch

It's been 19 years since the last episode of Seinfeld aired, but it looks like Jerry Seinfeld still takes creator Larry David's "no hugging, no learning" policy seriously. On Monday night, the comedian attended The David Lynch Foundation's National Night of Laughter and Song event in Washington DC and had an awkward encounter with Kesha. Jerry was in the middle of an interview with 94.7 Fresh FM when Kesha ran up to him and asked him for a hug. "I'm Kesha! I love you so much. Can I give you a hug?" she asked. Jerry looked a bit taken aback and responded, "No thanks," to which Kesha begged, "Please?" Still, Jerry didn't budge. It's pretty clear from the clip that Jerry meant no ill intent; he simply just didn't know who Kesha was.

Larry famously insisted on a strict "no hugging, no learning" rule on the set of Seinfeld because he reportedly didn't want episodes to have a moral ending, nor did he want them to teach the viewers any lessons. His goal was to depict life as accurately and humorously as possible.

A Pharmacist Is Accused of Refusing to Fill a Teen's Birth Control Prescription

In the current state of the nation, women's rights - particularly reproductive rights - are perpetually under attack. And a recent transaction at an Albuquerque, NM, Walgreens is a chilling example.

Here's what went down: A teen girl's mother went to the pharmacy to pick up Misoprostol for her daughter, which she says was prescribed to the teen as she prepared to get an IUD. (The drug is regularly prescribed to prevent stomach ulcers but is also one of two drugs administered together to induce a medical abortion.) However, the mother was denied the drug, simply because the pharmacist personally did not agree with dispensing the medication, citing "personal reasons." The event has become a showdown over reproductive, religious, and personal rights, with Walgreens stepping in to state that it supports employees refusing to carrying out sales like this one if they "morally object."

The incident happened in August 2016, and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of New Mexico and the Southwest Women's Law Center (SWLC) have now partnered to file a formal complaint with the New Mexico Human Rights Bureau.

"Women should be able to walk into any pharmacy that serves the public with full confidence that they will receive the care and medicine they need without being disrespected and discriminated against," ACLU attorney Erin Armstrong said in a statement.

Pamelya Herndon, executive director of SWLC, noted that a man seeking the same medication for stomach ulcers would have gotten treatment, but "because our client was a woman, the Walgreens employee automatically assumed the medication was for a reproductive health."

What's most disappointing is that this isn't the first instance of such discrimination happening at an Albuquerque Walgreens. In 2012, a Walgreens employee refused to fill a woman's birth control prescription, resulting in the company standing for such "moral objections" while the ACLU took action. The situation ended with Walgreens vowing to ensure that employee religious beliefs do not stand in the way of birth control prescriptions being filled.

Yet, four years later, the same situation repeated itself - and the ACLU is not sleeping on that fact.

Walgreens responded to the ACLU complaint in a statement to POPSUGAR. "Our policy is to allow pharmacists and other employees to step away from completing a transaction to which they may have a moral objection and requires the pharmacist or other employee to refer the transaction to another employee or manager on duty to complete the customer's request."

Walgreens adds that its policy will "ensure that in these rare instances, patients are offered reasonable alternatives to access legally prescribed medications" and said the company is planning to "retrain all of our pharmacists and store leadership in New Mexico on policies and procedures relating to conscientious objection, to ensure that we're providing the highest level of patient care and service."

But those fighting against this policy - and the refusal of service the teen and her mother faced last year - say these allowances embolden discrimination against women and weaken women's access to health care. As critics argue, the increased intertwining of politics and religion under the Trump administration is a clear threat to women's rights.

Luckily, organizations like the ACLU are ready and willing to fight for women's rights - even if it's a battle they've had to wage before.

Theory Alert! Could Ser Davos Actually Be the Secret Hero on Game of Thrones?

Caution: the following contains spoilers pertaining to Game of Thrones season six!

Between seasons of Game of Thrones, we've obsessed over theories predicting the secret savior of Westeros. Could it be Jon Snow - nay, Jon Targaryen - who might unite the Seven Kingdoms and defeat the White Walkers? Or might it be his fiery aunt, Daenerys? Hell, it might even be Sansa or Arya Stark, according to the theories we consume so ferociously to fill the void. But all this time, we've been overlooking some serious foreshadowing about one unexpected character: lovable Ser Davos Seaworth, the Onion Knight.

According to an utterly convincing Reddit theory by Redditor FollowTheBeard, Davos may be Azor Ahai, or the "Prince That Was Promised." We know, crazy, right? After spending six seasons supporting another man (Stannis) who claimed to be Azor Ahai, it seems wild that it may have been Davos himself all along who can fulfill this ancient prophecy. But hear us out; the Easter eggs that have been strewn throughout the series, when combined, make an excellent argument for Seaworth as the Prince That Was Promised.

The Theory:

In typical Reddit fashion, FollowTheBeard's full theory begins with a succinct explanation for skimmers: "TL;DR: Davos drew Lightbringer from the fire. Davos was reborn amidst salt and smoke under a bleeding star. Davos resurrected Jon Snow and woke the dragon from stone. Davos is the savior that will protect the world from darkness. Davos is the Prince that was Promised."

"Davos is the savior that will protect the world from darkness. Davos is the Prince that was Promised."

Each of these moments, wherein Davos merely blends into the background, not focusing on his own exceptional qualities in favor of serving a greater good, add up to foretell the Onion Knight as an unexpected savior.

First, explains the internet theorist, is Davos's early encounter with a flaming sword. At the beginning of season two, Melisandre proclaims: "In the ancient books it is written that a Warrior will draw a burning sword from the fire, and that sword shall be Lightbringer. Stannis Baratheon, Lord of Light, your sword awaits you." While Stannis ceremoniously withdraws a sword from the flames, Davos observes from the background; after the pomp and circumstance ceases, the knight walks over and picks up the formerly flaming sword himself, casually walking away with it.

The next piece of evidence is part of the prophecy, which predicts that "When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt." Now, recall the conclusion of season two, when Davos and his navy are bombarded by Tyrion's Wildfire in the Battle of the Blackwater. The entire fleet is destroyed, and most of Stannis's soldiers perished in the battle . . . most, except Ser Davos. FollowTheBeard goes on to explain:

"Water is used pervasively in literature as a metaphoric mechanism of cleansing and rebirth. Fire is also widely used as a symbol for rebirth, renewed life, burning away corruption, etc. Davos 'comes back to life' in the Season 3 premiere as he wakes up on an island, rescued by Salladhor Saan, who even says:
'You've only just come back to life. Stay alive a little longer, my friend.'
Thus, Davos is reborn amidst smoke (wildfire) and salt (seawater). The metaphorical implications of Davos's rebirth can be thoroughly examined, but that's for another post."

Finally, Azor Ahai is foretold "to wake dragons from the stone." While Davos certainly hasn't interacted with any massive reptilian beasts a là Daenerys, he was in the room when Jon Snow (who we now know is a Targaryen) was resurrected atop a stone slab. According to this theory, it was no coincidence that Davos was the only one present when Jon awoke from death:

"During the resurrection scene, Jon Snow is laid out on a stone slab. Melisandre performs the ritual and . . . nothing happens. Tormund leaves, Melisandre leaves, Edd leaves. Only Davos stays. He lingers, as seen from this clip here. He approaches Jon, internally begging, pleading, willing, praying for his return. Shortly after, Jon gasps his first breath.
The delay between the ritual and first breath was not a dramatic pause. Melisandre did not resurrect Jon Snow. She never believed she could, nor did she have any faith left in the cause. Davos did. Davos, not Melisandre, brought Jon Snow back to life. Davos woke the dragon from stone."

These three pieces of evidence, along with Ser Davos actor Liam Cunningham's cryptic hints about knowing a secret straight from George R. R. Martin himself, are quite convincing. We'll definitely be playing close attention during season seven for more indicators that Davos is actually intended to save Westeros, not just serve it.

Not bad for a former smuggler who recently learned how to read, eh?

Prince Harry Has a Precious Reunion With a 97-Year-Old Window in Sydney

Prince Harry had a special fan waiting to greet him when he visited Sydney on Wednesday. Ahead of the 2018 Invictus Games Launch Event, the famous royal had a precious reunion with Daphne Dunne, a war widow who famously stole a kiss from him when they first met in 2015. Wearing her first husband Albert Chowne's medals, which were awarded to him posthumously after he died during the Second World War, the 97-year-old braved the cold and rain as she waited for Harry. Not only did the 32-year-old recognize her right away as he greeted her with a warm hug, but she even stole another kiss from him - this time on the other side.

The prince has certainly been keeping busy these past few weeks. Aside from preparing for the Invictus Games in September, Harry recently traveled to Singapore for the first time to visit the Jamiyah Education Centre and partake in a charity polo match for his organization, Sentebale.

8-Year-Old Was Disqualified From Her Soccer Tournament For "Looking Like a Boy"

Milagros "Mili" Hernandez is an 8-year-old who's already good enough at soccer to be on the 11-year-old team. However, Mili and her all-girl squad, the Azzurri Achurros from Omaha, NE, were disqualified from the finals of a tournament simply because Mili prefers to wear her hair in a short crop, rather than long.

Yes, you read that right. Get ready for your blood to boil, y'all.

After Mili helped her team get to the finals of the tournament, and several hours prior to their last game, Mili's dad, Gerardo Hernandez, was informed over the phone that his daughter's team was disqualified by the Springfield Soccer Club, whose officials insisted Mili was a boy. The 8-year-old was rightfully in shock over this absolute ignorance, and her dad told WOWT 6 News, "She was crying after they told us . . . They made her cry."

The president of the soccer club, Mo Farivari, said that the mistake was first made due to an error on one of Mili's forms, which listed her as a boy. However, because her other forms listed her as a girl and she plays on an all-girl team, Farivari assumed the issue would be straightened out fairly easily. Unfortunately, despite showing up to the game with an insurance card that confirms Mili is, in fact, a girl, Hernandez said the tournament organizers refused to even take a look at it.

Mili believes the organizers' actions to be unfair, as they're judging her completely for her appearance rather than looking at the facts. "When my hair starts to grow I put it short because I've always had short hair," Mili said. "I didn't like my hair long. . . . Just because I look like a boy doesn't mean I am a boy. They don't have a reason to kick the whole club out."

However, the young girl isn't going to stop playing soccer because of this. "There's other tournaments that I can play," she said.

Since Mili's story has made headlines, many have weighed in on the absolute ridiculousness of this scenario, including US soccer stars Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach, who both tweeted in support of the little girl and her soccer dreams.

Wambach also took to Instagram with a video addressed to Mili. "Dear Mili Hernandez, you are amazing in every way," read the caption. "Thank you for teaching us how to be brave and shining a light on something so hurtful."

How a Mom Used Her Earrings to Prove That She Was Invisible After Giving Birth

Like many new moms, Anastasia Aligiannis noticed that things changed after giving birth to her baby boy. She felt like she had become completely invisible and to prove her point, she took out one of her earrings.

It took seven months before anyone noticed that she was only wearing one earring, despite being surrounded by family and friends. "All those social interactions, and no one ever looked me square in the face and noticed," she shared on Facebook. "It sort of cemented to me that as a very busy mom of then two children under two who 'just stayed at home' or 'didn't work.' I had almost become invisible not just to society, but to my family and friends, and really maybe even to myself."

Anastasia explained that even conversations over the phone followed a similar pattern: people asking how her children and husband are but never following up with asking about her. "I guess people figured if the people it was my responsibility to care for were OK, then I must be," she wrote.

Although many new moms can relate and may even smile in recognition, Anastasia made it clear that the point of her post wasn't to be funny but instead to send a message. "If today you are feeling overwhelmed, invisible or like you don't matter, you do. You are so important and are probably the cog that keeps everything running smoothly," she wrote. "Keep up the good work, and if no one else says it to you this week, know that you are invaluable in the work you do and your sacrifices do not go unnoticed."

Star Wars Actress Felicity Jones Has an Engagement Ring That Can Be Seen From Another Galaxy

There's probably no place more high profile to debut an engagement ring than on a red carpet. That's why all eyes were on Felicity Jones's new sparkler when she arrived for Glamour's Women of the Year Awards. The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story actress wore a black ruffled v-neck gown by Dior and kept her accessories to a minimum, letting the round stone shine on its own. The engagement ring was a delicate piece that easily matched her gown, which featured polka dots and side cutouts.

When she turned around, we even got a glimpse of the backless portion of her dress. Though these little details made her red carpet look special, the real scene stealer was on her finger. Scroll on for a closer look, then check out the best celebrity engagement rings out there.

10 Minimalist Travel Tips That Will Help You Save Bag Space

I used to be a notorious overpacker. What if I really needed my Winter jacket on the beaches of Mexico if it got really cold one random night? Irrational. It didn't, and it wouldn't. The more I've traveled, the more I've realized just how nice it is to not worry about dealing with a bunch of unnecessary luggage. Half of the things I used to pack stayed buried in my suitcase the whole trip, just adding extra weight for absolutely no reason. I've started to (mostly) follow the minimalist approach to packing, and it's made traveling even more enjoyable. Here are 10 things you can do to pack lighter and travel better.

1. Plan your outfits ahead of time.

Instead of throwing in every article of clothing you've ever owned, count the number of days you're going to be gone, and plan your outfits for each day (and evening if necessary).

2. Pack only the essential toiletries.

If you're staying at a hotel, then they will have shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and most likely lotion. Some hotels even have toothbrushes and toothpaste, but that's less common. Don't pack a ton of toiletries you know the place you're staying will have. It's a waste of space! Same goes for a blow dryer - most hotels will have these, and they take up a ton of room in your suitcase. If you're not staying at a place that will have toiletries, then invest in a travel-size shampoo, conditioner, and lotion.

3. Don't bring things you think you "might" need.

You probably won't need them, and unless you're going somewhere where you absolutely won't be able to buy them, skip the five extra phone chargers and just be good about keeping track of the one you do bring.

4. Pack a pair of shoes that go with a lot of outfits.

I always pack or wear a pair of shoes that are very versatile so that they can be dressed up or down and are comfortable for walking. Think: black ballet flats or low-heeled boots. Shoes take up a lot of suitcase space, so the fewer pairs, the better.

5. Don't bring tech you don't need.

If you're going on vacation, embrace it. Don't pack your laptop if you don't need it for work; instead, bring something smaller like an iPad if you need a tablet of some kind.

6. Bring ebooks instead of physical books.

I know, it's blasphemous. I get it, I am a huge reader, but I also travel pretty often, and I know the pains of trying to fit a hardback book into a carry on. You can load up your Kindle app with endless books without taking up any suitcase room at all, and trust me, the book will be the same either way.

7. Wear your heavier clothing on the plane.

If you're flying, wear your heavier/bulkier shoes and sweaters on the plane (bonus: you won't freeze when the airplane AC is blasting). That way, you don't have to stuff a giant jacket into a small bag, and you'll still get to bring your favorite pair of shoes on the trip without worrying about them weighing your luggage down.

8. Roll your clothes.

This is minimalist packing 101; instead of folding your clothes, roll them tightly up (like a sushi roll). This is more efficient space-wise and helps keep clothes from wrinkling.

9. Choose the right suitcase or bag.

Pick a bag that is spacious but compact; I like the carry-on-size bags that have a zipper that allows the bag to expand if need be. They are still small enough to put in an overhead compartment, but the extra space allows for some wiggle room.

10. Make a packing list.

Since you're cutting down the things you're bringing, it's smart to make a list of the actual essentials so that you're not forgetting anything absolutely necessary. Be selective with your list, and don't add gratuitous items you don't need. You can do this!

1 Badass Mom Just Delivered Her Own Baby Via C-Section

Sarah Toyer is no stranger to Cesarian births, as all four of her children were delivered via C-section. However, she didn't necessarily plan her births this way and after her first child's emergency C-section birth she felt very emotional over the experience.

"I felt like my body failed at giving birth and felt so robbed after going through so much just to end up having a C-section," Toyer told Babble. Desiring to be more involved in the birth of her fourth child, Spencer, she was determined to have a maternal assisted C-section, something that she was told would almost entirely depend on the surgeon on call the day she had her procedure.

"So, when the day came along we waited eight hours at the hospital, then I was standing there next to the surgeon scrubbing up just as she was," Toyer wrote in a post shared to the Birth Without Fear Facebook page. "Maybe half an hour later I was lying on the operating table watching my son's head being pulled from my womb. I reached down and put my hands under his arms and lifted the rest of him out of my own body. It was the most incredible thing I have ever done."

Sarah is sharing her Spencer's delivery story to encourage other moms to be passionate about their birth plans, and says, "I highly recommend you stick to your guns about what birth you want!"

The Heartbreaking Thing Prince William Told Diana After She Lost Her Title in the Divorce

When Prince Charles and Princess Diana ended their marriage in 1996, their oldest son, Prince William, was just 14 years old. At the time, he was a student at Eton College studying biology, art history, and geography and playing soccer and water polo. He hadn't yet begun his official royal duties or military career. For all intents and purposes, he was a normal teenager - besides, you know, the whole being king one day thing - and most normal teenagers are pretty bummed about their parents splitting up. But as second in line to the British throne, William recognized his (future) power and made a promise to his mother that is both incredibly adorable and incredibly heartbreaking.

Charles and Diana's divorce was finalized in August 1996, but some drama surrounding her royal title ensued. Queen Elizabeth II reportedly wanted to let Diana keep the style of her royal highness, but Charles was "adamant" that she give it up - instead, she was given the title Diana, Princess of Wales. The loss of the honorific separated Diana from the rest of the family in such a way that she had to curtsy to those who had it, including her own children. William is said to have comforted his mother after the loss of her title by saying, "Don't worry, Mummy, I will give it back to you one day when I am king."

Tragically, Diana was killed in a car crash just a little over a year after William made his touching vow to her. In the decades after her death, both he and his brother, Harry, have opened up about their mother, sharing stories about their time with her as well as honoring her impact, both with the charities they support and the traditions she's passed on to them.

Read Between the Lines: 10 Classic Kids' Books With Delightfully Subversive Subtext

Lewis Carroll, beloved author of Alice in Wonderland, once wrote that "words mean more than we mean to express when we use them; so a whole book ought to mean a great deal more than the writer means." A highly appropriate quote from a man whose work has been interpreted as everything from an LSD-laden parable to an homage to mathematical logic. Like beauty, meaning is often found in the eye of the beholder, and this is certainly true when it comes to deciphering the hidden meanings - if any - found in some of the most wildly popular kids' books. Morality tales have always been a major cannon in children's literature, but plenty of tomes for tots take a more subtle approach to tackling the social and political issues of the day, leaving them wide open to interpretation. How My Unlikely TV Habit Gives Me Newfound Hope For Democracy

2017 has been a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year for democracy.

Amidst a flurry of rollbacks, repeals, and pull-outs from the Trump administration, I've found myself searching for signs of the checks and balances I was taught to expect - hell, demand! - from our government. At the very least, some semblance of the (mostly) rational thinking that has traditionally been put forth by from the people in charge would be nice. Our legislative, executive and judicial branches feel exceedingly broken; it's as though the very ideals they were founded on are on the chopping block. Amidst all the chaos, however, there's one clear, shining beacon of hope. And despite how insanely boring it may sound, it comes in the form of congressional hearings.

Before your eyes glaze over, hear me out.

I've never been one of those people who actively seeks out the inner workings of government for entertainment. That is to say, you'll never catch me cross-checking the expected budget against realistic targets, or angrily shaking my fist at clauses in the full text of the AHCA, or hosting watching parties for bill votes. I'm more of a cable-news-and-internet gal, and the simple act of trying to watch hearings on CSPAN nearly put me off entirely. I don't get the channel in HD, and the pixelating images and distorted audio tends to make me feel like I've gone back in time. But once I discovered that I could stream the channel on my phone, the game instantly changed.

Almost overnight, I found myself becoming the kind of person who calls up friends and family and rants about how crazy and tunnel-visioned one senator was, or how one tiny detail that was maybe said offhandedly might actually be the truth we'd all been searching for. Congressional hearings were like the real-life version of Law & Order, except instead of being ripped from the headlines, they were making the headlines. As I said to my boyfriend a couple weeks ago, the congressional hearings were giving me life. They were a reminder of how things are supposed to work - and how two sides of the aisle can coexist in a way that feels like there's an end to all these means.

The Senate and House Select Committees on Intelligence have held several open, televised hearings on the Russia investigation over the last few months. And it's here that members of both chambers - and both parties - call witnesses to the stand and interrogate them on the things that we, the public, deserve to know the truth about. The witnesses can't reveal everything in open testimony, but the things that we're allowed to hear outside of the closed doors of briefing rooms have been some of the most incredible television I've ever watched. From Sally Yates telling the world that there was a "compromised situation" in the White House with Michael Flynn, to James Clapper's sassy clapback on the definition of leaks, to John Brennan's uncertainty about whether there was collusion - it was all pure, unadulterated infotainment.

Ultimately, it's the products of the quest for truth - and often, the direct acknowledgement of things that feel like they can't be right or just - that I've found solace in. To be clear, it's not a perfect process. The politics of both sides shows through in ways that are often cringeworthy. The leading questions, direct jabs across the aisle, and blatant disrespect to certain individuals almost always lead to an awkward silence thereafter, which is both completely intolerable and totally gripping. But at the same time, the fact that I ams watching something that feels like a defense against a broader insanity sweeping the country makes me feel like maybe, somehow, there is a reason to believe we'll get through these insanely dark times.

In just a few days, former FBI Director James Comey will give testimony in front of members of the Senate for the second time this year. It's a big deal: since he first took the stand back in May, he's been fired by the president and has been the center of wide-ranging questions about what's gone down - not just since Trump took office but in the lead-up to the election itself. And Comey is no stranger to the theatrics inherent to these hearings.

It was almost exactly 10 years ago that Comey testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on NSA surveillance. It was there that he dropped the bombshell that then-President George W. Bush had attempted to get Attorney General John Ashcroft to sign off on a wiretapping program from his hospital bed - and the only reason that they weren't able to pull it off was that Comey himself had run to the hospital and interceded in the nick of time. Not only was this "improper conduct" something that would stain the Bush administration for years thereafter, it also established Comey's reputation as a top-notch storyteller, buttressed by the fact that all of his stories were 100 percent verified truths.

Comey's testimony in early May was somewhat of a show-stopper in and of itself, with his now-infamous revelation that the fact that he may have influenced the election in any way made him "mildly nauseous." And while many of us may still question the motivation behind the timing and presentation of his announcements on the Clinton email scandal, it only adds to the dramatic tension that will play out when he takes the stand on Thursday to finally tell the story that's been years in the making. (Plus, as we now know, Comey is a meticulous note taker, and the man has receipts.)

Ultimately, we have no idea what will come of Thursday's hearings, or if any charges will be brought as a result of the investigations which the special prosecutor and the congressional committees are undertaking. But what I can definitively say, without a doubt, that in a year full of unexpected and disappointing developments, congressional hearings have given me hope for democracy. And for now, that's enough for me.

Orange Is the New Black: Who Plays All the Young Inmates in the Flashbacks?

The flashbacks on Orange Is the New Black have gotten more intense with each passing season, and you have to hand it to the little actors who play young versions of the characters. If you're wondering which talented youngins have been portraying the inmates and guards, here's your answer. Take a look to see where you know them from and what projects they have in the works.

How to Find Your Own Bra Size Right at Home

Despite what you might have heard, girl you do not have to go to the store to get fitted for a bra. You can find your true number right at home using a simple strip of measuring tape. We tapped lingerie pro Jenny Altman of I Love A Good and Soma to break down the ridiculously easy steps. Below, you'll find a fast, simple guide to uncovering your number, along with a video of Jenny breaking down the process. Now all you've got to do is go out and buy yourself a bra - then learn the proper way to care for it.

Step 1:

Put on a good bra, nothing with padding or compression. Grab your measuring tape (not a metal one) and stand before your mirror. (Take a deep breath and remember nobody else can see this!) Wrap the measuring tape firmly around your rib cage, just around your bra band, and make sure it's parallel to the floor all the way around. This helps to determine your band size. Round up to the nearest even number of inches to arrive at measurement A.

Step 2:

Shimmy your measuring tape up a few inches. You want it to be around your body at the fullest point of your breasts, again making sure the tape is parallel to the floor all the way around. Round up to the nearest number of inches. This is to determine your cup size, or measurement B.

Step 3:

Take measurement A and subtract it from measurement B. For example, let's say measurement A is 34, and measurement B is 38. 38-34=4. Then, apply that number to this scale to determine your cup size: 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, 4=D, 5=DD/E, 6=F, and so on. The cup size for our example would be D. If you want the math done for you, try Soma's bra fit calculator.

Step 4:

Put your two numbers together. In this case, our bra size would be 34D.
Now that you have your number, you're done with an at-home fitting. Keep in mind that this number/cup size is just your starting point. Just like with jeans, different brands and styles will not fit the same.

Think Extroverts Win in the Workplace? Think Again

The following post was originally featured on Fairygodboss.

Imagine, for a moment, an introvert and an extrovert. Now, imagine that both the introvert and extrovert are salespeople for a living. Knowing nothing else about them, who would you guess is the better salesperson?

You're far from alone if you guessed that the extrovert is the more gifted salesperson. However, that's just flat-out wrong. According to research done by University of Pennsylvania Professor Adam Grant, there is no statistically significant relationship between sales income earned and extroverted personality types.

That said, the introverted salespeople Grant studied didn't fare much better. In fact, Grant concludes a third personality type - the ambivert - is best suited to being successful at sales.

What is an ambivert?

Ambiverts are a personality type that is neither very extroverted nor very introverted. If asked, "How do you feel when you're around other people? Drained, or energized?" an ambivert would answer, "It depends."

Ambiverts fall in the middle of a personality continuum. Most extroverts and introverts themselves are not at the far reaches of either side of the continuum. However, ambiverts fall very much in the middle and are defined as people who are "moderately comfortable with groups and social interaction, but also relish time alone, away from a crowd."

But why would an ambivert perform better in a sales environment? Professor Grant hypothesizes:

"Whereas extroverts may seek stimulation and social attention at the expense of listening carefully to customers' concerns, ambiverts are likely to be more flexible in the ways in which they engage with customers, drawing from a wider repertoire of behavioral options to find the appropriate balance between selling and serving."

Under this theory, being an ambivert means you can take a balanced approach to listening to people and conveying your own point of view - both of which may be important to closing a sale, despite the stereotype that salespeople must be aggressive and primarily only interested in accomplishing their agenda.

Do ambiverts do better in the workplace than introverts or extroverts?

Is Grant's research relevant to job roles beyond sales? It stands to reason that it may be.

In the work context, most of have to sell ourselves to someone else, at least some of the time. For example, most of us want a pay raise and promotion every couple of years (if not more frequently). In fact, the commonly dished career advice to "build a brand" is basically premised upon the idea that you are essentially selling yourself to other people all the time.

Whether you're a teacher, research scientist, lawyer or executive, we all have people we need to like us if we're going to get the best assignments at work - or just get paid more next year.

Not an ambivert? Don't despair! Now that you know ambiverts may have a natural advantage at accomplishing their goals, you can work to counteract your natural tendencies. Here's What to Do (ASAP!) If an Airline Loses Your Luggage

Worst-case scenario: you've landed at your destination after a long flight and watched as every single bag has come and gone on the conveyor belt at baggage claim. Your luggage? Nowhere to be seen. It's every traveler's most dreaded situation, but it happens. Bags get routed to the wrong airport, damaged, or lost to the airport abyss, never to be seen again. The first (and most important) step to avoid losing something extremely special to you is to pack your valuables in your carry-on. Still, sometimes bags simply have to be checked, so here are some tips for what to do if your luggage is lost.

1. Go to the baggage claim office at the airport.

As soon as you realize that your bags are never coming down that conveyor belt, make sure to be proactive and notify the airline immediately. The sooner you start the process of finding your lost luggage, the sooner the issue can (hopefully) be resolved. In many cases, the bag was not lost but was put on the wrong flight. Make sure to get a copy of your report so that you can have proof should you need it at any point.

2. Know your luggage!

"Know the brand, color, and size of your luggage," said Richie Copelovitch from iFLY Luggage. The better you're able to describe your missing luggage, the easier it will be for the airline/airport to find it.

3. Don't lose your baggage claim tag!

In the bustle of showing your ID, getting your plane tickets, dropping off your bags, and getting through security, it's easy to lose track of things. However, it's very important that you hang on to the baggage claim ticket/sticker given to you (often stuck to your boarding pass). In the case of lost luggage, you'll need this!

4. Find out what the airline policy is in terms of monetary compensation.

"Different airlines have different policies," Copelovitch said. "If your bag is lost for more then 24 hours, the airlines will help you to buy clothes until they get your bag to you." Oftentimes, you can also find the maximum amount of claims you can take on the back of your plane ticket. Make sure to look out for this.

5. Let your luggage come to you.

"Don't volunteer to come back to the airport to get your lost bag," Copelovitch advised. "The airlines will get your bag to you. It's their responsibility. Simply let them know where you will be staying so they can send it to you."

6. Ask the airlines to provide toiletries and necessities.

"If you need bathroom amenities such as toothbrush, deodorant etc., the airlines often have kits available with their lost baggage staff." Let the airlines know what you need, and you should be able to get must-have items to help hold you over until you can get your luggage back.

7. Stay diligent!

The airlines are dealing with a slew of issues on a daily basis, so don't let your lost luggage fall through the cracks. "Keep checking with your airline," Copelovitch said. "Don't let them forget about you. Do it nicely. The airline does not care that you will not have clothes for Aunt Millie's wedding; don't tell them the stories that they don't need to know. It won't get you your bag faster."

8. Get travel insurance.

Travel insurance helps cover some, if not all, of your losses in the event that your luggage is missing for a certain period of time or if it is lost and cannot be located.

9. If your luggage is truly lost, set a claim.

Chances are you won't be getting compensation for the full price of your lost luggage, but make sure to set a claim with the airline in order to get as much reimbursement as you can. Be honest about the worth of your bags - making up a number larger than what your luggage was worth could lead to your claim being completely denied.

Some helpful tips for keeping track of your luggage:

  • Get an identification for your bags! All airlines supply paper tags for free, but those are flimsier and more likely to be damaged. It's a good idea to get a sturdy tag that's secure on your bag so that you can easily identify your luggage and so that, in the case of lost luggage, it's easier to find.
  • Double-check the tags on your bags before they are sent down the conveyor belt. "When the bag is tagged at check-in, check the tag before it goes down the conveyor belt to make sure it is going where you are going," Copelovitch said. "Airport agents are very busy and can easily make mistakes. It is your job to make sure that the correct name and destination is on the tag. All tagged bags have your name and destination on them."
  • Avoid overweight bags. "If the baggage handler can't lift the bag, it may get put aside. If the aircraft is overweight, it will get put aside. Aircrafts need to adhere to strict weights and balances to ensure flight safety. They will remove bags if they have to. You may be able to get it by the check-in agent, but you won't get it by the handlers. If there is no heavy tag on it and it is overweight, you're in for trouble."
  • Make sure your luggage is in good enough condition to fly. Be on the lookout for broken zippers, holes, or places in your bags that are susceptible to ripping or breaking. "If that happens before your bag makes it to the plane, it will get put aside without question. If your luggage is worn out, replace it to save a lot of headaches," Copelovitch said.
