Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag: A Detailed Account of What Went Wrong

Image Source: Getty / John Shearer
Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag were the best of friends when they starred together on MTV's The Hills back in 2006, but their friendship quickly dissolved when Heidi began dating her now-husband, Spencer Pratt. Lauren repeatedly tried to warn her friend about Spencer, calling him "a sucky person," and despite various failed attempts to repair their relationship, Heidi eventually chose Spencer over Lauren, ultimately ending their friendship.

Heidi is currently pregnant with her first child, while Lauren recently welcomed hers, but it's safe to say they won't be planning any play dates. When asked if she and Lauren will ever mend their friendship, Heidi told E! News it was unlikely back in May, adding, "I certainly wish the best for her and her life, and I'm thankful for that time period, but that friendship is long gone." Here's a detailed account of what went wrong.

  • 2006: Kristin Cavallari and Brody Jenner introduced Spencer to Heidi. "I had known Heidi when she was friends with Lauren when we were still filming Laguna Beach. Heidi was like, 'Hook me up with someone. I wanna meet a guy.' And Brody and I were kinda like, 'Well, maybe Spencer? We'll see what happens.' So we all went on a double date and they just hit it off right away and now they're married," Kristin told EW in May 2009.
  • 2007: After several arguments about Spencer, Heidi moved out of the apartment she shared with Lauren and into one with Spencer. Things quickly took a turn for the worse when Spencer leaked a story to the media about Lauren and ex-boyfriend Jason Wahler having a sex tape. Lauren almost immediately took to her website to clear up the entire thing, writing, "I am posting this note on my website regarding the reports that have circulated the internet this morning. Jason and I would like to make it clear that we did not make a tape with us having sex. Jason and I are both shocked and hurt that people would say such horrible things about us. I can't believe that somebody would go to such great lengths to try to damage my reputation." Lauren then ran into into Heidi and Spencer at Frankie Delgado's birthday party and confronted her Heidi on the show, saying, "You're a bad person . . . I feel bad for you . . . . You know what you did . . . . You're a sad, pathetic person."

  • 2009: Two years later, Lauren revealed that Spencer admitted to starting the rumor about her and Jason during a panel a PaleyFest in LA. "We actually have it on tape," Lauren told the audience. "[Spencer] takes responsibility and apologizes for it. Sorry! Spoiler!" Lauren reluctantly attended Spencer and Heidi's televised wedding days later. "They literally locked me in the basement with two security guards and wouldn't let me leave! And I was like, 'You can't keep me here!' I was throwing a fit!" she told Us Weekly in May 2016. Lauren and Heidi stopped talking after that.
  • 2015: Spencer finally admitted to spreading the sex tape rumors about Lauren in Complex's October 2015 issue and continued slamming the reality TV star. "Lauren is a cold-hearted killer. That's what people don't get. She will cut you in your sleep," he said. "She tried to destroy us. If you want to throw missiles, I'm throwing a nuke. This is how I operate." "Today, I would be like, 'B*tch, you know what you did,'" Heidi chimed in.
  • 2017: While Lauren seems to have no intention of reaching out to Heidi, Heidi did congratulate Lauren on her pregnancy back in January. "Congratulations @laurenconrad on your pregnancy! you're going to be a great mom!" she tweeted.

Summer Phoenix Files For Divorce From Casey Affleck

Casey Affleck and Summer Phoenix are officially done. The couple, who announced their separation in March 2016, tied the knot in 2006 and are parents to sons Indiana, 13, and Atticus, 9. According to E! News, Summer, who is the younger sister of actor Joaquin Phoenix, filed for divorce on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. She's also requesting spousal support and joint physical and legal custody of their kids.

The official end of their marriage comes on the heels of a dramatic few months for Casey, who is the younger brother of Ben Affleck. He won the best actor Oscar for his role in Manchester by the Sea in February, but the attention also put a major spotlight on the disturbing allegations of sexual assault against him from 2010. Despite the controversy, Casey brushed things off, telling The Boston Globe, "I believe that any kind of mistreatment of anyone for any reason is unacceptable and abhorrent, and everyone deserves to be treated with respect in the workplace and anywhere else. There's really nothing I can do about it. Other than live my life the way I know I live it and to speak to what my own values are and how I try to live by them all the time."

This Mom's Warning of How Heatstroke Can Happen Indoors Will Throw You for a Loop

If you live in an area that can really heat up during the Summer months, you know the dangers heatstroke when it comes to your kids. But did you know that heatstroke can actually happen indoors, too? Jennifer Abma found out the hard way when her 3-year-old daughter Anastasia wouldn't wake up from a nap during a recent heat wave in Canada, where the summer temperatures rarely hit 80 degrees.

After opting to keep both her daughters inside and safely out of the 90-degree weather, all seemed to be going pretty well until Anastasia went down for a nap.

After more than an hour, Jennifer opened the door and tried to wake her up. Panic quickly consumed the mother of 2 when the toddler didn't respond. Abma called the paramedics when she noticed how suffocatingly hot the bedroom really was and how sweaty and red her daughter was.

"When the ambulance came, they came with investigators because they didn't know what to expect as did I," she wrote in a viral Instagram post. "This was proof how fast things change. Anastasia put herself down for a nap, I had no idea how hot her bedroom was until I went to wake her up soaked in sweat, red face, boiling, and unable to wake her for 15 minutes."

When the paramedics arrived, it was determined that the room was 122 degrees and Anastasia's body temperature was 104 degrees. The toddler also had low blood sugar - a dead giveaway that she had heatstroke. Ultimately it took 15 minutes for paramedics to wake her, but after getting orally fed sugar she started to recover.

"All I could think was, how could this happen? How didn't I know?" Abma told POPSUGAR. "How can her room be the only room that's this hot? I had just posted about being excited for her birthday on the next couple days, and it was almost pulled from beneath my feet. I kept asking myself if it was my fault."

So while the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stress the importance of not leaving your kids in hot cars or outside on especially hot, humid days, it's just as important to keep tabs on your little ones' temperature, even if they're indoors.

Don't think you have time to exercise? This 100-rep workout can be done in just under five minutes. And the best part is that you don't need any equipment - just your body. These moves combine cardio plus strength training, so you'll be huffing and puffing and will feel your muscles burning. Want more of a workout? Repeat this 10-move circuit for a total of 5-10 times.

Make modifications for each move as needed to make it easier or harder.

  • 10 Jump squats
Note: If this is too intense, squat down without the jump.
  • 10 Alternating Forward Lunges (5 on each side)
Note: Keep both knees at 90-degree angles, lowering your back knee down to just above the floor.
  • 10 Criss-Cross Jumping Jacks
Note: Alternate which foot is in front each time.
  • 10 Push-Ups
Note: Rest your knees on the floor if you need to.
  • 10 Triceps Dips
Note: Rest your hands on a bench or table, or do them on the floor.
  • 10 Burpees
Note: Do any variation you want.
  • 10 Side-Plank Leg Lifts (5 on each side)
Note: Rest on your hand or on your elbow.

  • 10 Mountain Climbers (5 on each leg)
Note: If you can't hop the feet forward, step forward instead.
  • 10 Diamond Sit-Ups
Note: If it's difficult to touch the floor in front of your feet, just touch the feet.

Try to complete each of these moves without any rest in between. Challenge yourself to keep moving, no matter how slowly you complete the moves, and remember that you'll be able to rest once you do that last sit-up!

Queen Letizia's Shirt Has So Many Little Details, We Don't Know Where to Start

The Spanish royal family were out for their annual Summer photo session at Marivent Palace on the island of Mallorca, and the pictures have us smiling from ear to ear. King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, and Princess Sofia were seen shaking hands with journalists and locals, but what really caught our eye was the shirt Letizia wore.

Queen Letizia rocked a shirt from one of her favorite designers, wearing the Mango Striped Knit Top ($50) that features so many small details, we don't know where to begin. It is yellow at the top, then changes to black and white stripes, has ties on both sides that bring it together, and ends with a scalloped hem. She completed the look with ankle-length trousers, taupe RIA flat leather espadrille sandals, and a pair of Gold & Roses Milky Way earrings ($377). Our favorite part has to be the ties on the sides because they add that little touch of sexy we love to see from Queen Letizia.

How Exercising in My Underwear Has Changed My Workouts

We all have our trouble spots, and for me, it's my belly. Even before two pregnancies, I've always been a little self-conscious about that extra squishiness above my belt. I'm a full-bathing-suit-in-the-Summer, never-take-off-my-shirt-while-working-out kind of gal . . . that is until a few weeks ago.

I do yoga and strength training at home to complement my runs, and one day I wanted to try out this new move, but I was in my everyday clothes. I quickly got hot in my jeans so I just took them off. I didn't want to get my shirt all sweaty, so I took that off too. There I was, half-naked, doing plank variations with my TRX, and something shifted. Now I prefer exercising in my underwear! Here's why.

  • Damn, what's that indentation? After having two kiddos, my mummy tummy is in full force. I'm proud that it grew two beautiful children, but if it could be a little smaller, that'd be awesome. When working out in just my bra and undies, I can actually see my belly - seeing the skin shows me way more than a tight-fitting tank. The other day I even started to see a little definition. I was shocked! And so psyched to know that what I've been doing is actually working. That's the best motivation right there.
  • You got this! Working out with a lot of skin showing means I can see all my muscles working. Whether it's bicep curls or squats, it's motivating to see how each exercise targets each muscle. Seeing them flex pushes me to throw in an extra few reps.
  • Who cares where my capris are? I can't tell you how many times I've passed on a workout because I wasted too much time trying to find an outfit. This is a no-fuss solution - just strip down and you're ready to go. I don't even wear my socks and sneakers. You won't get as sweaty, and you'll have less laundry later!

Granted I could totally get the same effect wearing a sports bra and tight shorts, but, of course, that would mean planning ahead to locate and put them on. This allows for some spontaneous exercise, because sometimes you've got to fit it in whenever you can.

The Bachelorette's "Men Tell All" Special Confronts Racist Contestant Lee Garrett

Now that the dust surrounding Bachelor in Paradise's high-profile controversy has settled, Bachelor Nation tackled another uncomfortable situation on Monday night during The Bachelorette's "Men Tell All" special. Back in June, it was revealed that one of the men competing for Rachel Lindsay's heart, Lee Garrett, had tweeted a string of racist and sexist remarks throughout 2015 and 2016. Since Lindsay is the first black Bachelorette in the show's history, the revelation was made that much worse, and Garrett was forced to address his comments during the special two-hour episode.

"It's a hard thing to say that you were, or are, a racist," host Chris Harrison said before sharing Garrett's tweets with the audience, including one that read, "What's the difference between the NAACP and the KKK? Wait for it.....One has the sense of shame to cover their racist ass faces." Garrett attempted to skirt around his past comments, but the tweets naturally brought about some harsh responses from several of his fellow contestants, including Bachelor in Paradise alum DeMario Jackson and 28-year-old prosecuting attorney Josiah Graham, both of whom are black.

"Why did you come on the show where the Bachelorette was African-American?" Graham asked Garrett. "If, on the other hand, you're tweeting about black people and groups of black people who fought and died so I can be on the stage next to you. People came before me so that I can go to the same school like you, so I can drink from the fountain like you, and if you're comparing them to the KKK, people who hanged my ancestors - why are you trying to date a woman who looks like me?"

At first it seemed like Garrett wasn't going to own up to his tweets, but eventually he acknowledged what he'd done and apologized. "I completely denounce that, and I denounce that Lee," he said. "I want to learn . . . I'm sorry for saying things when I was not educated and ignorant in those subjects. That tweet was racist and I denounce it."

Lindsay herself also appeared on the special, where she explained why she didn't find out about the tweets immediately since filming The Bachelorette is like living in a bubble. "I'm not in the house, and I only know what's happening right in front of me, so to sit back and see things that I've never seen before, it's very enlightening," she told Harrison. "I'm black. I knew it would be something to talk about, but it wasn't something that we had to continually go on and on and on about when I had the relationship with the men, which I appreciated. They were trying to get to know me. Race wasn't an issue for me as I was going through the season. No one made me feel when I was with them one-on-one a certain way."

She also addressed Garrett directly, saying how he threw away an opportunity to be surrounded by a diverse group of people. "I hope that in watching it back, you realize that you were a part of something so great," she said. "But in case you didn't, please know that you can exit stage left and meet me backstage, and I will be more than happy to give you a black history lesson, a lesson on women's rights."

Next week's three-hour episode of The Bachelorette will reveal who Lindsay decides to gift the final rose - Eric Bigger, Bryan Abasolo, or Peter Kraus - and hopefully afterward, she'll live happily ever after and likely forget Garrett ever existed.

This Genius Life Hack Makes the Annoying Task of Putting On a Duvet Cover So Easy

Have you ever tried to change a duvet cover yourself? It's pretty much one of the most frustrating tasks you could take on. That's why we were beyond excited to see Inhabitat editor Yuka Yoneda demonstrate this brilliant life hack that she calls the burrito method.

It will literally take you about three minutes to perfectly cover your comforter. We broke down some of the steps, but make sure to watch Yoneda's mesmerizing video below to see exactly how she does it.

1. Turn your duvet cover inside out.

Then lay it out flat across your bed (like you would if it had a comforter in it) and make sure the open part is at the foot of the bed.

2. Lay your comforter over the duvet cover.

Make sure they are laying on top of each other perfectly matched up.

3. Roll the comforter and duvet cover together like a burrito, starting at the head of the bed.

Now take the opening of the duvet cover and fold it over one side of the burrito, then the other. Do the same to the middle as well.

4. Unroll the burrito back to the top of the bed.

Your comforter will be perfectly distributed throughout the inside of the duvet cover, we promise!

Will Millennials Give Up Their Burgers to Save the Planet?

Need proof millennials love burgers? Look no further than Shake Shack. Chef Danny Meyer opened the burger stand in New York City's Madison Square Park in 2004, and within a decade, it became an international success, with more than 100 locations worldwide and a publicly traded company. Why? In large part because of millennials. A 2015 Goldman Sachs report found that the burger chain "does essentially no traditional marketing" and instead relies on its strong presence on social media, where it is 100 times more successful than McDonald's on Instagram. The report also noted the chain's dedication to service, better ingredients, and a modern interior helped it gain crucial popularity with 18- to 32-year-olds.

Shake Shack and its other "fast casual" cousins often promise to use locally sourced, higher-quality ingredients. Shake Shack, for example, provides 100 percent all-natural Angus beef made with no hormones or antibiotics. Chipotle has a local grower initiative to make it easier for it to buy local produce. Millennials seem willing to pay a bit more for food that makes them feel better about their lifestyle choices. It also helps that it looks better on social media than eating McDonald's. Millennials make up more than half of the customers eating at fast-casual restaurants, although they represent only 25 percent of the US population.

It's more responsible to eat just about anything from halfway around the world than red meat from a farm next door.

There's an argument to be made that millennials are the most food-obsessed generation, Instagramming our farm-to-table plates before we take our first bites. Based on numerous surveys, we also know that young people care more about climate change than older generations. Yet the "buy local" movement might not actually be enough to impact the impending environmental crisis. Studies show that food production - not transportation - causes the bulk of greenhouse gas emissions. And certain foods, specifically red meat, create orders of magnitude more emissions during the production stage than pork or chicken, regardless of whether the cows are grass fed or raised without antibiotics. It's what you eat, not how it gets there, that matters most. If you're really serious about reducing your emissions footprint, it's more responsible to eat just about anything from halfway around the world than red meat from a farm next door.

With the recent news of President Donald Trump backing out of the Paris Climate Agreement, many everyday Americans are more motivated than ever to do something if our leaders won't. But will millennials actually be able to walk the walk when it comes to our ethical stances? Will we give up our burgers to save the planet?

Mounting Evidence That Millennials Care

You won't find many 20-something climate-change deniers in America. According to a 2016 survey from the University of Texas, more than nine out of 10 people under age 35 say climate change is occurring, compared with 74 percent of those age 65 or older. Another recent Gallup poll found most Americans (65 percent) believe that human behavior, and not natural factors, causes rising temperatures. Whether we're willing to change that behavior is a different question.

You won't find many 20-something climate-change deniers in America.

Chef Andrea Reusing, a James Beard Award winner for best chef in the Southeast, is dedicated to sustainable food practices, like working with local farms and sourcing ecologically responsible seafood. She has restaurants in both Durham and Chapel Hill, NC, two college towns. In the 20 years she's been in the area, she's seen young people become increasingly tuned in to how their food choices impact the environment. When I asked her what motivates her millennial customers to pay more for quality ingredients - how they taste vs. how they're helping the environment - Reusing says she's not sure they see the difference. "Food that tastes good is good for the environment. For younger people, it's much more holistic."

If millennials have good intentions, like Reusing believes, maybe we just need to get more informed about the best way to make an impact. Naomi Primero, 21, thinks that's the case. As the incoming board chair for the Berkeley Student Food Collective, an educational nonprofit and natural food store in Northern California, Primero finds that young people are willing to change in order to help the environment. Unfortunately, she says, many "are either uninformed or not plugged into the right communities to make those relevant personal sacrifices."

A Closer Look at Why Red Meat Is a Problem

Images of coal plants or jet planes might come to mind when you think about what is causing climate change. But let's add red meat to the list, too. Meat from ruminant animals - aka cows, sheep, and goats - are a major driver of climate pollution, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). There are various factors at play: Grazing animals require a lot of pasture land, which in turn cannot be used as carbon-reducing forests. In addition, these animals have multichambered digestive systems, which produce a significant amount of methane. Since dairy comes from these same animals, that means your brie cheese and Greek yogurt are problematic, too.

The global food system accounts for between 19 to 29 percent of world greenhouse gas emissions, as Naomi Klein explains in her 2014 book, This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. The Climate. If you're taking inventory of how your lifestyle choices influence climate change, considering your food habits like red meat consumption is a smart place to start. The good news, according to Klein, is that the everyday actions of the average consumer can have a massive impact at scale. She uses World War Two as an example to assert that "human nature" isn't what holds us back. We've been able to change our habits for a greater cause before. She writes:

Indeed to support fuel conservation during World War II, pleasure driving was virtually eliminated in the UK, and between 1938 and 1944, use of public transit went up by 87 percent in the US and by 95 percent in Canada. Twenty million US households - representing three fifths of the population - were growing victory gardens in 1943, and their yields accounted for 42 percent of fresh vegetables consumed that year. Interestingly, all of these activities together dramatically reduce emissions.

It's yet to be determined if the millennial generation will be able to match the Greatest Generation when it comes to making sacrifices. But reducing red meat and dairy consumption could help. As The New York Times declared in a 2015 piece now gaining traction again, you're "better off eating vegetables from Argentina than red meat from a local farm" because of how carbon-intensive red meat production is. Of course, it would be best to eat both locally grown vegetables and alternative proteins. But the trap is to think local beef is better than imported chicken.

Practicing Meatless Mondays has a greater impact than shopping exclusively at the farmers market.

We must change our thinking and move away from only focusing on "food miles," or the cost of transporting food. If we more seriously consider the types of foods we eat, we could have a more serious impact. A study from Carnegie Mellon concluded that a dietary shift can be a more effective means of lowering an average household's food-related climate footprint than buying local. "Shifting less than one day per week's worth of calories from red meat and dairy products to chicken, fish, eggs, or a vegetable-based diet achieves more GHG (greenhouse gas) reduction than buying all locally sourced food." In other words, practicing Meatless Mondays has a greater impact than shopping exclusively at the farmers market.

Why We Should Be Hopeful

As we wait, perhaps futilely, for political and business leaders to act, we must start consuming less and doing more. If you already do Meatless Monday, tack on a Meatless Tuesday. Order the chicken tacos instead of the beef burrito. And make it your mission to find the best veggie burger your city has to offer.

Seventeen-year-old Clara Nevins is one young person who has found a way to combine large-scale action with personal change. She founded Change Climate Change when she was 13 to serve as the youth voice in climate-change conversations. She's lobbied her local LA city council to enact energy report cards for buildings and even served as a youth delegate in Paris for negotiations on the climate pact the US eventually pulled out of. In addition to political change, Nevins also thinks it's up to her generation to look at their lifestyle choices. "Every single action that we do is meaningful," she told us. For her, that means committing to composting, shopping locally, buying fewer and better things, and cutting back on red meat. "I have red meat once a week. I honestly don't even miss it that much and believe it makes a difference."

There's never been a better time for people like Nevins to be "vegetarian curious." Gracias Madre is an Instagrammable Mexican restaurant with locations in Los Angeles and San Francisco that also happens to be vegan. Restaurants like these are an attractive option for millennials looking to cut back on red meat and dairy consumption. Chandra Gilbert serves as the executive chef for the West Hollywood outpost and estimates that 90 percent of her diners are not practicing vegans. "Today, you might say, 'Hey, do you want to go out and have some Chinese food? Or do you want to get some vegan food?' It's not a weird and abstract thing," Gilbert explained. She says the rise of chain restaurants like Veggie Grill show vegetable-driven meals are becoming more normalized.

"Today, you might say, 'Hey, do you want to go out and have some Chinese food? Or do you want to get some vegan food?'"

Sascha Weiss, a veteran pastry chef and plant-based food expert, has also found creative ways to get millennials to favor plant-based foods. Weiss currently leads product development for California-based Project Juice and was the executive chef at The Plant Café Organic chain in Northern California, which doesn't offer any red meat on its menu. Weiss notes that food choices are personal and influenced by what we ate growing up: "We've had success with plant-based dishes that are riffs on classics. Cleaned-up versions of things like a Caesar salad, kelp noodles with basil pesto, or apple-pie-inspired chia seed pudding." A little nostalgia can go a long way with our generation.

Weiss thinks the rise in demand he's witnessed for sustainable, plant-based foods shows that consumers want to be proud of their food choices. Social media plays into that. "A photo can tell a great story, as the old cliché tells us," he explained. "It also helps drive trends, and right now the trend is toward sustainability, toward eliminating or lessening food waste." The fact that millennials want to be on the cutting edge could help drive productive change. Nevins agrees that the power of social media is important, and she's betting that personal efforts to cut back on high-emission foods will spread online and turn into a mass movement.

At the Berkeley Student Food Collective, students are helping drive change in a positive direction from the ground up. Allegra Saggese, 21, another student leader with the group, explained, "We made an active choice in our organization a few years back to not sell meat in the store. Along the entire supply chain of meat, there's a lot of injustice in terms of how labor workers are treated in slaughterhouses, to the methane emissions from cows, to the water consumption." By creating more access and knowledge around plant-based foods, the 150 UC Berkeley students who volunteer at the Food Collective hope to make a collective difference.

Then there are food trends that work against the need to cut back on red meat. The Paleo diet, a meal plan based on the dietary habits of our cave-dwelling ancestors, has gained popularity this decade. It emphasizes protein, vegetables, and nuts instead of processed carbs. A new study from delivery service Grubhub found that the Paleo diet is now the most popular healthy eating choice across the country. In 2016, Paleo orders via Grubhub increased by 370 percent. Sure, the Paleo diet is not exclusively about red meat. But since a nice, juicy steak does fit within the requirements, millennials who choose this diet are likely to consume more of it. Meat-focused delivery boxes, like Butcher Box, confuse the issue too. Butcher Box promises to deliver 100 percent grass-fed, grass-finished, antibiotic- and hormone-free beef, which is undoubtedly better than the alternative. Unfortunately, it also makes it easier to eat more red meat.

"They're less likely to expect 'center of the plate' items. It used to be, if it's not 10 ounces of protein, then you're not eating in a restaurant."

Despite these red-meat-friendly trends, chef Reusing is hopeful that the simultaneous disruption of traditional food culture will be an overall positive for the environment, even if it possibly hurts the bottom line for fine-dining restaurants like hers. Thanks to food delivery boxes and the access to recipes online, young people are more willing to cook at home in a relaxed environment. Reusing believes protein portion control will come more easily to millennials who often favor food trucks to restaurants with white tablecloths. "They're less likely to expect 'center of the plate' items. It used to be, if it's not 10 ounces of protein, then you're not eating in a restaurant." Since millennials aren't that hung up on eating in traditional restaurants, perhaps we'll be naturally guided to more balanced food options.

"Meat consumption is going down, though certainly not as much as it needs to in order to stay focused on climate goals," Reusing concluded. Personally, she has found the chaos of the Trump presidency very distracting. "We have to hope that the galvanization will outweigh the distraction." She believes young people will lead the charge in turning outrage into action on climate change. "I see some really amazing things happening that wouldn't be happening without millennials." She points to New York City's new and ambitious composting effort as one example. "Young people are more accepting of things people 20 years older than them would not have accepted, like a stinky bin of food in your kitchen." Perhaps giving up a cheeseburger or two won't be too big of a jump after all.

Daenerys Loses Her Grip in Next Week's Stressful Preview For Game of Thrones

This week's episode of Game of Thrones might have been intense (Jon Snow and Daenerys FINALLY meeting! Two massive sieges! A twist of a death!), but it looks like episode four is going to ratchet up the tension that much more. Not only is Cersei conspiring with the Iron Bank to take over Westeros, but Dany is feeling the pressure. "All my allies are gone," she desperately tells Jon Snow. "I'm losing." Luckily we have a full week to breathe!

Channing Tatum's Daughter Asked to Watch a "Real Movie" After He Showed Her Step Up

Step Up is the reason Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan have a real-life love story, but it turns out their daughter could care less. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, the actor revealed that his 4-year-old, Everly, was not impressed with her parents' 2006 film. Even though they thought she would love it with all the dancing, she got pretty bored pretty fast. "Within 10 seconds, she was like, 'Can I watch a real movie? I don't know, like a good one?'" he told the host. "I'm like, 'What do you mean? This is a real movie! This is such a real movie! They made like seven more of these!'" If it's any consolation, we can't get enough of the movie and the couple's sexy dance moves.

Amal Clooney's Funky Bag Was Specially Made For Her - by Her Big Sister

Last October, Amal Clooney wore a fringe bag with her boho-inspired outfit. We didn't think too much about it until we discovered it was designed by someone special in her life . . . her big sister Tala! The 42-year-old launched her brand Totally Tala in Asia (perhaps this is why you haven't heard of it yet) and while it's a hit abroad, she has plans to expand her accessories collection to Europe and beyond.

Amal's obviously already a fan, which she confirmed when she wore one of her big sis's signature items. The design comes in several colors and fits right in with the funky vibe of Tala's entire line. If you don't know what we mean, read on to see some of her unique designs. We wouldn't be surprised if Amal keeps a few more of the fringe pieces in steady rotation.

This Hysterical Instagram Account Documents a Tiny Baby vs. Various Household Objects

An old favorite Instagram account of ours - of the Jacob's Food Diaries and Average Parent Problems era - has started to resurface thanks to a few #TBT posts, which is reminding us that this account is for sure the cutest we've ever come across.

Back in 2015 using the hashtag #WeeBabyVs, Jennifer G. started posting photos of her then 1-month-old daughter, Alexandra - who was born at just 5 pounds, 7 ounces - paired up against household objects. Alexandra was so tiny that even the smallest things - like a banana - looked huge next to her, which is both sweet and hysterical.

Read through to see what this wee baby was paired up with back in the day and follow Jennifer to see Alexandra now!

9 Secret Letters to Write For "Reflection, Growth, and Transformation"

I've always found release in writing. I have personally considered it one of the best methods to relieve stress and get through particularly tough moments in my life. There's something about putting pen to paper especially that feels even more cathartic than typing words onto a screen. I'm also a huge fan of handwritten notes, so when I saw the two combined in Juliet Madison's The Secret Letters Project: A Journal For Reflection, Growth, and Transformation Through the Art of Letter Writing, I was immediately intrigued.

The book features 20 letter prompts with a recipient addressed in each, beginning with "Dear Stranger" and closing with "Dear Inspiring Person." The goal of the project is to improve your emotional health by using letter writing as a therapeutic outlet, an added bonus if the ability to express your feelings to others also betters as a result.

Each guided prompt explains why you're writing to this person, what to do with the letter, how to write it, and things to consider before getting started. Some may be written with the intention to send it, while others advise you to keep it, burn it, store it, or do whatever you choose. Juliet mentions that the "power is in the process," so it doesn't really matter what you end up doing with the final draft.

"Many people are unaware of how writing a secret letter, a letter just for themselves, can be a powerful tool to deal with challenging circumstances or to simply generate excitement for life and anticipation for the future," she wrote.

It's also important to note that it's perfectly understandable to begin your letters off negatively, especially if it's to someone you may not want to speak to. Just as long as the intention is to resolve that emotion, you have total control over your writing. Remember: the purpose is to take away something positive.

Of the 20 letters in the book, here are nine of our favorites.

Letter #1: Dear Stranger

"Perform a random and anonymous act of kindness by writing an inspiring letter to a stranger." Leave it at a public space (a park, bookstore, elevator, etc.) where it can be found.

Why? You never know how it will impact the reader.

Letter #2: Dear Loved One

"Move through the grieving process by writing a letter to your deceased loved one." Keep it, share it with a friend or relative, or throw it away.

Why? It can help you let go of things you've held inside and allow you to express what you've always wanted to say.

Letter #3: Dear Soul Mate

"Consciously connect with the heart and soul of the future partner you're hoping to find." Keep it to later share with that person, store it in a box, or discard of it symbolically.

Why? This will help you figure out what you really want in an ideal partner and put it out there.

Letter #4: Dear Me

"Write an empowering letter to yourself as an act of self-love and acceptance." Keep it somewhere special where you can reread it from time to time.

Why? You can discover and/or understand yourself better and remind yourself of positive affirmations when you need them most.

Letter #6: Dear Ex

"Resolve past hurts and give yourself closure and peace of mind by releasing all that has been unsaid in a letter to your ex-partner." Discard it in a way that symbolizes a new beginning or send it if you think he or she will benefit from it.

Why? It could a healthy way to release pent up feelings, move on, or show gratitude for what you've learned from your relationship.

Letter #8: Dear Baby/Future Child

"If you are a parent-to-be or wish to be a parent in the future, this letter is to share your hopes, excitement, love, and anticipation for your unborn baby." Save it to give to your child when they get older, keep it in a memento box, or write it in a journal to continue adding to.

Why? This is a way to connect with him or her or even help yourself if you're struggling with infertility or miscarriage.

Letter #10: Dear Illness

"Write to a past or present health condition, acknowledging what it has taught you and the positive aspects you choose to make from it to embrace better health and peace of mind." Keep it as a reminder to yourself or release through a meaningful process.

Why? You'll be able to see your illness in a positive light without allowing it to define who you are.

Letter #18: Dear Spouse/Partner

"Write to your current partner to express gratitude, acknowledge memories or milestones, or to express difficult emotions that may be challenging to express face-to-face." Keep it in a memento box or share it with them.

Why? It can help you work through any conflicts or feelings or allow you to express gratitude for having them in your life.

Letter #19: Dear Friend/Relative

"Is there a person in your life you need to express something to? A friend, a parent, a sibling, a relative, a colleague, or someone you admire? Write to them, either to give them the letter, or to simply release your emotions for yourself." Share it with the person, store it, or let go of it in a ceremonial way.

Why? You can ask for forgiveness, thank him or her for having an impact on your life, or work out any other unresolved emotions you may have.

Choose to write one of these or all of these - it's up to you.

This Soul-Crushing Ad Shows Just How Strong Moms of Sick Kids Are

Most parents will never know what it's like to care for a sick child - not the ones with snotty noses and low-grade fevers, but the ones with real, chronic, sometimes-fatal illnesses - and that's a good thing. It's a pain no mom should have to bear, but many do, and a soul-crushing ad is shedding light on just a glimpse of what that struggle is like.

In honor of Mother's Day, SickKids Foundation, a children's health nonprofit, released the 90-second commercial. In it, there's a mom praying in a church pew, a mom screaming and bashing her fists against the steering wheel in a vacant parking lot, and a mom breaking down in tears as a nurse explains how she'll have to care for her sick infant. Those watching can almost feel the anguish. Almost.

Then, each of these moms literally wipes away the tears, picks herself up, and gets to work. It's remarkable.

The organization's message? "For every kid in hospital who's missing childhood, there's a mom staying strong."

Unlike most ads you watch, take action after you see this one. As SickKids implores, stand with these moms to "help their kids get back to just being kids." And may you never have to know this kind of strength.

Follow Up After a Job Interview With This Email

It's very important to follow up after a job interview, because even if you think the interview went badly, keeping in touch may improve the interviewer's perception of you. It reflects persistence, and it's also polite to thank the hiring manager after the interview. Remember to also send the note within two days of the interview; although, if you've passed the two-day mark, a late response is better than no response.

There is such a thing as being too pushy, so keep it light, cheery, and professional. Here is a sample of the kind of email you should send:

Dear Interviewer,
It was great meeting you today, and I appreciate you taking the time to interview me. I'm excited to be considered for the (name the position) as well as all of the opportunities the company presents. I had a good time discussing my passion of (insert what you're passionate about) and really enjoyed learning more about (insert what new tidbit you learned about the company).

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to following up with you.

Best,

Interviewee

Remember, you should have asked them when you'll hear about their decision at the end of the interview. If you've forgotten to do that, you can politely add the question to your follow-up email.

Stressed About Work? It Might Be Time to Quit Your Job, Donald

The following story, "Stressed About Work? It Might Be Time to Quit Your Job, Donald" by Sarah Cooper, was originally published on sarahcpr.com.

Are you constantly frustrated about work?

Are you increasingly isolating yourself, yelling at your television and binging on Kentucky Fried Chicken?

Have you been inexplicably subjecting others to physical abuse by shoving them out of the way?

Have you surrounded yourself with sycophants who support your idiotic ramblings, enable your bad behavior and lie to the American people for you?

Has your son-in-law been implicated in an ongoing FBI investigation into your collusion with the Russian government?

Have your actions led to the alienation of literally all our allies around the world?

If so, it might be time to quit your job.

"For some Presidents, when it's time to leave a job can be quite clear - like when their term is up - but for others, it might not be so obvious," says Bob Johnson, a career coach and author of You Should Leave Your Job Now, Donald.

Johnson says some presidents know when it's time for a change, "because they become irritable and paranoid, longing for the life they had before, and ultimately end up sabotaging the entire country."

Sometimes, people don't realize they're unhappy with their job until they admit it in an interview with Reuters, or they realize they aren't getting to do many of the things they're really passionate about, like playing golf.

"People who are unhappy at work constantly complain that the media is unfair to them, embarrass themselves on the international stage, and get frustrated that no one will let this whole Russia investigation go," Johnson says.

Cassie Saunders, founder of Please Quit Your Job Mr. President, Inc., says, "When some people see the signs that it's time to leave their job, they might try to improve the situation by lying their ass off about how much they've accomplished, threatening to abolish the First Amendment, or going into denial by firing the FBI Director. But others are completely unaware of the signals that it's time to get out."

If you're thinking about resigning but aren't sure, here are 5 signs your job isn't a good fit for you anymore, Donald.

1. You lack passion. Instead of waking up with a feeling of excitement toward your job, you wake up in the middle of the night and start intimidating witnesses in an ongoing FBI investigation into your ties with Russia.

2. You really dislike the people you work with. You try to work out the problems you're having with the Media, the FBI, the Justice Department, your own lawyers, Congress, Democrats, Republicans, the American people, Mexico, Canada, North Korea, and China, but sometimes these problems have no solution.

3. Your productivity is suffering. If you used to get 5 rounds of golf done in a day and now you only get in one, or you used to watch Fox News for 14 hours a day but not it's down to 8, you have to ask yourself: am I making the most of my time?

4. You have poor work-life balance. When you find that you're spending less time with your family even though you've given them all positions in your administration, that could be a sign of poor work-life balance. This is never a sustainable situation.

5. Your ideas are not being heard. Has it gotten so bad you've had to hire a team of private lawyers to defend investigations into your Russian ties? When is the last time anyone took your ideas about 3–5 million people illegally voting in the election seriously? Or Obama wiretapping your phone? Or your pitch to get rid of the legislative filibuster? The truth is you're probably being taken for granted and your skills might be useful elsewhere, like on a moderately successful reality TV show.

Once you realize it might be time to leave your job, just leave. Quit. Life is short. Do some traveling. Do it for yourself. Do it for America. Do it for all of us, Donald. Please.

9 Ways to Get Alcohol For Free on a Plane

Getting free alcohol on flights is sort of my thing. Don't judge me (or do - I'll still be sipping away the next time I fly), but I quite enjoy a drink on a long flight. Or two. Or . . . well, anyway. The point is, as a frequent flier who takes red-eyes, international flights, and flights from the West Coast to East Coast often, I've got a system for getting my drink on (responsibly, of course) while not spending all that much money on the pricey airplane alcohol. I could be selfish and guard these secrets with my life, but what's the fun in drinking alone? Cheers to your next flight, hopefully one where free booze flows thanks to these tips and tricks.

1. Be nice!

You'd be surprised just how far this can get you. Flight attendants have to deal with a slew of annoying issues and complaints constantly, so a friendly face among the masses of disgruntled travelers can really stand out. Make friends with whoever is serving you, be genuine, and, if you can, make them smile or laugh. This will encourage them to return the kindness in the form of liquid friendship, if you're lucky.

2. Fly on a holiday.

Flying on a major holiday has its perks and drawbacks. While it can be a bit lonely and disheartening to be on a plane while friends and family celebrate something special, you may just appear pitiful enough to score yourself some free booze, especially if you're flying solo. I've flown alone on several Christmas Days and have gotten free drinks every time.

3. Order extra.

One of my drinks of choice when I'm flying is a Bloody Mary, but I never need the entire can of tomato juice for just one little airplane bottle of vodka - it screws up the ratio, but I hate wasting the juice! So ask your flight attendant to toss in a second airplane bottle if you're feeling extra boozy. Often, they'll throw it in for free, and sometimes they'll even give you several. One glorious red-eye flight found me double-fisting four airplane bottles for the price of one after a fun chat with a flight attendant led to a successful solo happy hour (and a great night's sleep on the plane . . .).

4. Fly internationally.

Many international airlines and international flights will offer free alcohol, depending on who you're flying with, where you're flying to/from, and how long your flight is. Make sure to either ask or check out the in-flight information so that you don't miss out on any freebies.

5. Go to your flight attendant instead of making them come to you.

OK, I definitely don't mean you should bombard them! But if they've already completed the drink service and you're still feeling a little thirsty, try approaching your favorite flight attendant rather than using the dreaded call button. It saves them the hassle of navigating all the way back to your seat, and they may thank you for it by keeping their card reader stashed soundly in the liquor cart while they slip you the good stuff.

6. Be helpful!

If a poor kid (or adult - no judgment) who is scared of flying wants to sit with a family member but is separated from them, offer up your seat. If someone is placed in the emergency exit row and doesn't feel comfortable performing the tasks, switch seats with them. You will help simplify everyone's lives, and flight attendants really appreciate that. It gives them more incentive to pay it forward with a bottle of booze.

7. Let your flight attendant know it's your special day.

If you're flying on your birthday, anniversary, honeymoon, or other special event, let your flight attendant know! You shouldn't expect anything from them, but if you're fun and engaging, your flight attendant may want to help you celebrate by offering you a glass of Champagne to say cheers with you.

8. Fly first class.

This is a no-brainer, but an easy way to get free alcohol is to fly first class, where it's (almost always) included. While not technically free since you're paying for it with the price of your ticket, if you get an upgrade to first class without having to pay extra, then you're in luck! Some airlines also offer free drinks in business class as well.

9. Be a frequent flier of an airline.

Members of JetBlue's Mosaic, American Airline's Executive members, and United Global Services passengers all get the drink upgrades for their loyalty. If you're a member of a loyalty program with an airline, check out what benefits are offered to see if alcohol is included!

Glossier Debuts a Skin-Blurring Finishing Powder

A few weeks ago, several POPSUGAR employees were asked about their favorite beauty brands. Not surprisingly, almost everyone polled placed Glossier at the top of their list. Why? For starters, the packaging is great. Glossier has done a great job of establishing itself as the no-fuss, low-maintenance, "cool girl" beauty brand.

Plus, their products deliver. Stretch Concealer ($18) seemingly glides - or stretches, rather - across the skin for an invisible finish. Boy Brow ($16) gives you the full, thick brow your younger brother was blessed with. Their new launch, Wowder ($22, $35 with a finishing brush), is the brand's first finishing powder. It eliminates shine, diminishes the look of pores, and sets your makeup. It comes in three shades: light/medium, dark/deep, and rich. The last two cater to deeper skin tones, which notoriously struggle with finding a powder that doesn't appear chalky.

The brand kept the launch fairly low-key, offering a select few vloggers the opportunity to test out the product on their channels. The packaging was nondescript and disguised to keep its identity a secret. Vlogger Jackie Aina, known for her no-holds-barred opinions, expressed her surprise with how dark the powders look on the skin compared to their packaging. "When I first saw dark/deep, I automatically was like, 'This is going to be too light. Doesn't she [the product] give you a sand? Isn't she giving us a copper tan? Like a sandpaper?' Nope, I was wrong," said Jackie. "These powders are quite darker than they look."

Made with diamond powder, kaolin clay, and vitamin E, Wowder is meant to be lightweight, reflect light, and adapt to your skin tone. The clay helps with oil, the vitamin E makes it silky, and the diamond powder is what causes the light reflection. Plus, it's talc-free, which means you don't have to worry about a white cast or odd flashback in photos.

Will you pick up Wowder? Let us know in the comments.

Melanie Trump Has Found a Go-To Power Look - and It All Starts With This Dress

For many women in the public eye, it helps to develop a trustworthy, flattering uniform, or at the very least, a power color. Ladies like the Duchess of Cambridge and British Prime Minister Theresa May keep it simple, Kate sticking to coat dresses more often than not, and Theresa May opting for fitted skirt suits. But it took a minute for us to discover Melania Trump's go-to outfit - perhaps she had been distracting us with over-the-top designer statement pieces and a few custom numbers by stylist Hervé Pierre.

But after she posted a photo of herself alongside the White House interns in this ivory dress, we've finally arrived at Melania's chosen silhouette: a Michael Kors Collection sheath. The FLOTUS wore the exact same piece during the primary election at Trump Towers, and when she greeted Panama's president and first lady, she wore a powder blue variation with three rows of buttons at the sides. If we didn't know any better, we'd say Melania has found her dress match in a formfitting Michael Kors Collection look. Read on for the proof.

Iskra Lawrence's Instagram Should Really Come With a Heat Warning

There really isn't anything not to love about Iskra Lawrence. The 26-year-old English beauty is the global role model for Aerie, a lingerie and intimate apparel brand that is known for its "no retouching" ads. And Iskra is all about that body positivity. Not only can the model rock the hell out of a swimsuit (seriously, we can only hope to one day have those abs), but she frequently encourages her Instagram followers to do away with all that self-hate. Whether she's posting a selfie, hitting a beach, or lounging in her sweats, Iskra always manages to look hot, hot, hot. She also almost always captions her photos with #NOretouching and #everyBODYisbeautiful, which should make you look down at yours and say, "You know what? Damn!"

This Is Where the Word "Latinx" Comes From

"Latinx? What's that?" It doesn't surprise me that this is still a question among Latinos and nonLatinos alike. I, myself, only became familiar with the term in the last year or so after seeing it pop up on the internet and my social media feeds. At first glance, my inclination was to think that it's a gender-neutral take on the word "Latino." Turns out, there's a lot more complicated background to the word.

The Origins

Like me, you might have only first spotted the word "Latinx" (pronounced La-teen-ex) in the past few years, but the term actually came to be in 2004 (according to Google Trends data). It didn't gain much popularity until about 10 years later, which is why many people still aren't all that familiar with it. Yes, "Latinx" is a gender-neutral variation of the words "Latino" and "Latina." You know how if there's a group of female Latinas and one male, you immediately have to default to the "o" masculine ending? Not with the word "Latinx." Its purpose is to break past gender binaries and join together the various corresponding identities of those with Latin American descent.

The term extends toward all sexual orientations and preferences, such as transgender, queer, and agender, making it of popular use among activists. It's also growing in popularity among multiracial Latinos and Latinas, allowing them to create a hybrid identifier, such as Afro-Latinx. For those who find themselves somewhere in between on the gender and identity spectrum, Latinx provides a sense of belonging and community.

The Pros and Cons

While the term is now widely embraced and used, there are various positives and negatives that come with its use. For one, on the positive side, it's led to a sense of inclusiveness among people of varying identities. It's no secret that Spanish is a very "gendered" language, with many going as far as to say it's sexist, what with the way we default to a masculine noun even if there are a large majority of feminine players present.

At the same time, others are not so eager to embrace the word "Latinx" simply because it is an "invented" word that strays from tradition. Interestingly, the word "Latino," adopted by the US Census as a subcategory to "Hispanic," is connected to Spanish colonization and is viewed as ambiguous by many. Other rejectors of "Latinx" more simply believe you can't edit the Spanish language, much like you can't change history.

As of 2015, there are 56 million "Hispanics or Latinos," according to the US Census. And there it is - while some self-identify as "Latino" (or even "Latin"), some still use the word "Hispanic," and now, some, the term "Latinx." What matters is to be respectful of other people's chosen identifiers.

The 6 Things I Eat at Breakfast to Stay Full Until Lunch

Breakfast was one of those things I never took too seriously. I would normally grab whatever was most convenient on my way out the door in the morning, and that was the extent of my morning meal. However, like clockwork, I became painfully hungry by 10 a.m., at which point I would either overeat or reach for the closest food I could get my hands on. I knew I had to change my breakfast game if I wanted to stay healthy. So I set out to revamp my outlook on breakfast, and by adding these six ingredients to my morning grub, I kept a clean diet for the rest of the day and kept off the extra weight.

More Calories

I used to be frightened of consuming too many calories in the morning, but putting small amounts of food into my belly in the morning only made me binge-eat later, so I chose to beef up the sheer amount of food I was eating every morning. Now I try to consume around 400 to 500 calories for breakfast, which usually comes in the form of a nutrition-packed green smoothie. Simply having all that sustenance in my body stops me from snacking before lunchtime rolls around.

A Scoop of Coconut Oil

There has been a lot of debate over coconut oil lately and whether it's good for you. But many experts say that when eaten in moderation along with a healthy diet, unrefined extra-virgin coconut oil can do great things for your weight-loss goals. The saturated fats in coconut oil differ from the saturated fats found in animal sources and are believed to be burned as fuel for your body rather than being stored as fat. By spreading a tablespoon on my sprouted toast or tossing it into my smoothie, I stay full for longer and feel more energetic.

Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are high in protein, fiber, calcium, antioxidants, and omega-3s and can be made in a variety of ways for breakfast. I like to soak two tablespoons of chia seeds in unsweetened almond milk overnight, which gives me a delicious chia pudding that has 11 grams of fiber and four grams of protein. I also add fresh fruit and some cinnamon, and it feels like a morning dessert!

Avocado

My smoothies have gotten a serious upgrade since I started adding in a quarter of an avocado, which has 3.4 grams of fiber. Avocado is a food that prevents bloating, curbs hunger, and makes you feel fuller in the long run. Plus, I can't think of anything that tastes better on morning toast.

Dark Chocolate

This sounds unconventional, but it's a weird (and tasty) trick that has been my saving grace. A study conducted at Tel Aviv University found that participants who ate a 600-calorie breakfast that included dessert lost, on average, 40 more pounds than those who ate a smaller, more restrictive breakfast. I can totally see why that's the case. There's something about indulging in the early morning that keeps me from wanting to mindlessly snack for the rest of the day.

Plant-Based Protein Powder

Merely consuming more protein will help you stay fuller for longer, so I made it a priority to eat more in the morning. I never make a smoothie anymore without adding in one or two scoops of Garden of Life Sport Plant-Based Protein Powder, which has 30 grams of all-natural protein and only seven grams of carbs. It's a miracle worker that tastes decadent and fills my belly for the next several hours.

This Jason Momoa Moment Will Have You Melting in Your Seat, If You Know What We Mean

Jason Momoa outdid himself when arriving to the Justice League panel at Comic-Con last weekend; while he was (sadly) wearing a shirt, the actor ran through the crowd of fans, paying tribute to his Aquaman role by brandishing a trident and letting his incredible locks hang loose across his broad-as-hell shoulders. The entrance was so magnificent that panel host Chris Hardwick couldn't help but remark, "It makes sense that you're Aquaman, because everyone's super wet right now." Hey, he said it, not me. Watch the full moment below, and since you're already feeling a little hot, check out Jason doing the haka while you're at it.
