Kate Middleton and Sister Pippa Have Reportedly Made a Royal Pregnancy Pact
Could there be more than one royal baby on the way? Us Weekly is reporting that Kate Middleton and her younger sister, Pippa, want to be pregnant together. "It's long been a dream for Kate and Pippa to be pregnant at the same time," a Middleton family friend told the magazine, adding, "To share that would be amazing." The source also reveals that Kate has wanted a third child "almost since giving birth" to Princess Charlotte in 2015, and that she and Prince William "promised each other they wouldn't even think about having another child until they were mentally ready and it felt right." Apparently, now is the time. "They would love to be pregnant soon," the source added.
Meanwhile, Pippa and her husband, James Matthews, are reportedly trying for a baby as well. The two tied the knot in a stunning UK ceremony back in May, but have been talking about starting a family even before the wedding. A "Pippa insider" told Us that the 33-year-old will "make a fantastic mother" and has had lots of practice taking care of her niece and nephew, Princess Charlotte and Prince George. "She's a brilliant auntie - they always look forward to playing with Pips," said the insider. So, all we have to do now is wait . . . for two new little royals!

4 Lies You Shouldn't Tell Your Interviewer
People who lie during their interview or on their résumé can get stressed out because it may lead to complications during the hiring process. They may also keep worrying about the interviewer finding out. It's always good to be honest, although perhaps you should wait until you're asked before volunteering certain information. Here are a couple of lies you should refrain from telling:
Why, yes! I do kind of live here
If you've used a different address on your résumé to tailor it to where the job is based, don't lie about it when it comes up in the interview. If your potential employer asks you where you live, tell them where you currently live, but let them know that you're willing to move for the job. The problem with this lie is you may have several rounds of interviews and you'll have to keep flying back and forth for them. If they think you live in the city, they'll probably give you short notice for interviews and those last-minute flights can be really expensive.
I make so much more than my real salary
If your interviewer asks you how much you made at your last job, you may think it's a white lie to fudge the numbers a little. However, some employers ask for a copy of your W2, so you may want to be cautious about giving a fake amount because it can be construed as unethical. If you don't want to cough up your previous salary, let it be known that you don't think it has any bearing on this new job and cite the typical industry number. If you're pushed to give your previous income, tell them you won't consider an offer below $XX. This is a gray area that many have different opinions on - some like Bargaineering founder Jim Wang don't think that there's anything wrong with a little inflation, while others vehemently disagree.
That's totally my GPA
If you think that inflating your grade point average will get you the job, you may want to reconsider. Some companies request a copy of your transcript or verification with the school, especially those with job positions that require a minimum GPA.
No, I didn't get fired at my last job
Given the economy, there are plenty of people that have been laid off so don't be afraid to let the interviewer know. Try not to go into the details, especially if you harbor resentment, and let her know what happened and what you learned from the experience.
Remember, the general rule of thumb is to be honest during your interview. It's different for everyone, but if you get asked uncomfortable questions, there's always a polite way of refusing to answer.
How Betsy DeVos Literally Bought Her Position as Education Secretary
Betsy DeVos, billionaire Republican donor, pretty much just bought a position in the highest tiers of American government. Following a shockingly poor Senate education committee hearing performance, DeVos's confirmation was vehemently opposed by Democrats and two Republicans. An effort to sway another Republican during an all-night session in which the Democrats commandeered the floor was unsuccessful, and DeVos was confirmed in February by Vice President Mike Pence, who had to break a tie vote.
While Republicans rarely break rank and vote against their party, Democrats had an especially difficult time convincing their Republican counterparts to vote against her, likely for one simple reason: the DeVos family has donated thousands of dollars to sitting Republican senators.
Here's how much they received from DeVos: #DeVosVote #NoOnDeVos #DumpDeVos http://pic.twitter.com/Fhm6R9awbf
- CAP Education (@EdProgress) February 7, 2017
The Federal Election Commission requires the full disclosure of campaign donations, and, as is apparent from this list, DeVos donated to at least 23 senators' reelection campaigns - including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. It prompts the question: had DeVos not consistently distributed her wealth to Republican officials, would she have been confirmed?
DeVos has never worked in a public school, never sent a child to public school, and never attended public school herself - and now she'll impact the system on a national level. DeVos has also long championed charter schools as an alternative to public schools, suggesting the entire system might change dramatically under her direction. After her disastrous committee hearing, she allegedly copied written answers from an Obama administration website that she submitted to defend her qualifications. If that's not unqualified, what would it take for Republican senators to consider her an "incompetent" cabinet appointment?

Why I Sometimes Regret Owning Instead of Renting
As a fan of HGTV and all things home, when my husband and I were shopping for our house, I naturally had a carefully crafted list of must haves. Things like a brick exterior, tree-lined streets, room to expand when needed, and proximity to a train line were all important to us, and other than a fireplace, we got everything we asked for. Despite essentially having our dream house, there's still days where I wish we hadn't even bothered.
I acknowledge that it seems like I'm being the worst kind of privileged millennial, complaining about a blessing, something that many people dream of. Yet, owning a home and the kind of stresses that comes with it sometimes makes me yearn for the easy days of renting.
For us, being renters allowed for a more transient lifestyle. Roommates would come in and out of our lives, and we were given the opportunity to take long trips away. Being renters for us was less like having a home and more like having a home base, a place to put our things so we could go out on adventures. It's that kind of free-spiritedness I sometimes miss.
When we were renters, we used to bemoan the lack of flexibility with decor. If we wanted to paint, we'd have to do so knowing that when we moved, we'd likely have to pay to get it back to some mundane version of taupe.
Even so, there was something freeing about painting a rented space because we knew we'd only have to put up with it for a couple years at most. I made bolder design choices because of the temporary nature of renting. Hanging weird and large pictures didn't bother me because we could just spackle over the spots before we left.
Now, as an owner, the whole house is painted a basic light gray, like almost every other home that we go into, because it's clean and simple, and I know it will still look good 10 years from now when we still live here.
The decision to hang artwork is also fraught with potential problems. Even if we spackle and fix misplaced holes, the color will never again match the rest of the previously painted walls. Staring at that shiny patch will bug me to the point of needing to bust out the paint cans and redo an entire room.
For us, to own is to care, often too much. While I love talking about and planning the future of our building with my husband, it does suck up a lot of time. House work in general becomes a bit of a time void, where we continually put energy in only to have it disperse and need more.
Just the general amount of maintenance and repairs destroys any free time we have. During the first winter in our house, our boiler, which must have been held together with duct tape and prayers, died during a particularly harsh cold spell. We've since had to replace our washer and dryer for similar reasons, and we're currently in the market for a toilet that actually flushes and a stove that gets above 300 degrees.
Basic home repairs that used to be the responsibility of a landlord or rental company are now ours, and the cost adds up. That beautiful brick building we longed for needs some tuck-pointing, which is where they fill in the gaps between the brick and mortar. Thousands of dollars also will be needed to trim back and maintain our front tree and potentially fix any damage to our sewer caused by rogue roots.
Compounded with increasing property taxes, of which my state of Illinois has the highest in the country, and owning a home can sometimes feel overwhelming.
Owning is about giving up time that we sometimes don't want to relinquish, and money we may not have.
Yet, we stay. We bought because we want our son to grow up here, to have a childhood home where he can walk to school. We bought because we wanted an investment in our futures and to cement our lives somewhere that we feel passionately about. At the end of the day, we want a home, not just a home base to dump our things, and the cost for now is worth it.

7 Times Trump Proved He Knows Nothing About History
During an interview with SiriusXM, President Donald Trump demonstrated, once again, that he lacks a basic understanding of American history by suggesting former President Andrew Jackson could've stopped the Civil War had he been the president at the time.
"I mean, had Andrew Jackson been a little later, you wouldn't have had the Civil War. He was a very tough person, but he had a big heart," Trump claimed. "And he was really angry that . . . he saw what was happening with regard to the Civil War. He said, 'There's no reason for this.'"
Trump followed with another bizarre assertion. "People don't realize, you know, the Civil War - if you think about it, why," Trump wondered. "People don't ask that question, but why was there the Civil War? Why could that one not have been worked out?"
There's only one problem with Trump's postulation: Jackson died a decade before the Civil War started, so he couldn't have had an opinion on the crisis. Perhaps even less shocking than Trump's erroneous contention about Jackson is Trump's constant and consistent misunderstanding of history. Prepare to shake your head at six other times Trump proved he knows very little about the country he is supposed to run, nor much about countries he is supposed to liaise with.
1. When he seemed to think Frederick Douglass was alive.
During Trump's speech honoring Black History Month on Feb. 1, he suggested that the abolitionist was still alive. Trump described Douglass as "someone who has done a terrific job that is being recognized by more and more people." His comments were ridiculed across social media.
2. When he appeared to forget that Richard Nixon resigned because he broke the law.
In an interview on April 2 with The Washington Post's Bob Woodward, who broke the Watergate story that led to Nixon's impeachment, Trump implied that Nixon failed because of his personality. Woodward asked Trump why he thought Lincoln succeeded and Nixon didn't. Trump blamed Nixon's temperament.
"Nixon failed, I think to a certain extent, because of his personality," Trump told Woodward. "It was just that personality. Very severe, very exclusive. In other words, people couldn't come in. And people didn't like him. I mean, people didn't like him."
Given that Woodward published the story which led to Nixon's resignation, Trump's error is fairly astounding - and Woodward had to remind Trump that Nixon was a criminal. "And he broke the law," Woodward added.
Trump's response is hesitant, but he acknowledged Nixon's crimes. "And he broke the law, yeah. Yeah. He broke the law. Whether that's insecurity . . ." said Trump.
3. When he didn't realize that the Republican party used to be called "The Party of Lincoln."
At a rally in Louisville, KY, on March 20, Trump apparently did not realize the Republican party is often referred to as Lincoln's party. "Great president. Most people don't even know he was a Republican," Trump said. "Does anyone know? Lot of people don't know that."
4. When he confused North Korean leader Kim Jong Un with his father, Kim Jong Il.
While being interviewed on Fox & Friends about North Korean aggression on April 18, Trump conflated current leader Kim Jong Un with his predecessor and father Kim Jong Il.
"They've been talking with this gentleman for a long time," Trump said of America's dialogue with North Korea. "You read Clinton's book, he said, 'Oh, we made such a great peace deal,' and it was a joke." Later, Trump continued to assert his misunderstanding. "Everybody has been outplayed, they've all been outplayed by this gentleman, and we'll see what happens," Trump added with reference to Obama's negotiations.
Trump was evidently unaware that Kim Jong Un has only been in power since 2011 - after the death of his father. So, both Clinton and Obama have deliberated with both leaders - not just one "gentleman" as Trump insinuates.
5. When he said that North Korea used to be a part of China.
Following Trump's meeting with the President of China Xi Jinping, Trump revealed yet another misunderstanding of global history on April 12. Describing his meeting with Xi and their discussion of North Korea, Trump asserted that North Korea was once a part of China. Not only was he wrong, Trump implied that Xi delivered this information. Koreans were outraged by Trump's comments.
6. When the administration failed to mention Jews specifically in its statement for Holocaust Memorial Day
On January 27, Holocaust Remembrance Day, the White House released a particularly tone-deaf statement. While it acknowledged "the victims, survivors, heroes" of the Holocaust, the White House's release did not specifically recognize the six million Jews who died. Many Americans took the administration's omission as an act of anti-Semitism.
The Moving Way London Is Honoring Princess Diana on the 20th Anniversary of Her Death
Thursday, Aug. 31, marks the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana's sudden and tragic death, and there was no shortage of heartfelt tributes from fans and mourners in London. Thousands of well-wishers gathered at Kensington Palace to leave flowers, notes, and messages of hope; understandably, many people appeared emotional while checking out the array of gifts left at the gates of the palace that Diana called home until she was killed in a car accident in Paris in 1997 and where both of her beloved sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, currently reside.
On Wednesday, William, Harry, and Kate Middleton stepped out to pay tribute to Diana at her honorary garden and were photographed looking at the growing piles of flowers and letters outside of Kensington. The photos were eerily similar to those taken on the day the boys arrived back home from Balmoral a few days after their mother's death. See all the heartwarming tributes from Londoners in honor of the late, great princess.
Miley Cyrus Breaks Down in Tears When Talking About the Devastation of Hurricane Harvey
Miley Cyrus is one of the many celebrities giving back after Hurricane Harvey caused utter devastation in Texas. During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, the "Younger Now" singer announced that her Happy Hippie Foundation is donating $500,000 to relief efforts. While talking with the host about the heartbreak and loss the community in Houston must be facing, Miley couldn't help but get emotional thinking about how she would feel if everything she loved was taken away. "My grandma is sitting here and my mom is here and I go home to my seven dogs, and if I didn't have that anymore if would be really hard," she said while breaking down in tears. See her heartwarming video above.
What This Waiter Asked 4 Latina Women at a Restaurant Will Infuriate You
Diana Carrillo, a 24-year-old business analyst from Orange County, CA, thought she was just going out for a meal with her three girlfriends at Saint Marc's Pub-Cafe. But instead she found herself being asked for proof of residency by a waiter before he would serve her. "For a few seconds I thought maybe he was being a smart ass or joking," she wrote in a Facebook post. "But the fact that he said 'I need to make sure you're from here before I serve you' was completely unacceptable."
A few friends and I went to Saint Marc's in Huntington Beach today. My sister and my friend were seated first and the...

After the women handed over their IDs to the waiter, they decided to report him to the manager, who reportedly offered to seat them in a separate section. The four women decided to leave the establishment altogether.
Kent Bearden, senior director of operations at Saint Marc's, told The Washington Post that the company had fired the waiter following his misconduct. "My concern is he violated a company policy," Bearden said. "We're very specific about how we treat out guests. That individual did not treat a table of guests to the expectations that we set forth in that company policy, and that caused him to be terminated."
After Carrillo's Facebook post went viral with over 1,000 shares and over 400 comments, the restaurant pledged to donate 10 percent of its weekend earnings to a nonprofit organization of the ladies' choice. Saint Marc's also offered to host the women with a VIP experience at the restaurant. The women ultimately declined on the meal but asked that the money be donated to Orange County Immigrant Youth United.

Girlfriend has beauty, brains, and brush skills!

Trump Wanted NASA to Fly Past the Moon and They Just Said "No"
Not many people - and certainly not many government agencies - have the opportunity to say "no" to the president. However, NASA's acting director, Robert M. Lightfoot Jr., might be living your wildest fantasy: he just outright denied Donald Trump something he requested.
According to The New York Times, Lightfoot and his team at NASA recently rejected Trump's desire to add more crew to its Space Launch System's first flight. Citing cost and time, Lightfoot conceded that the White House's request was "technically feasible," but it would set the mission back considerably: additional crew members would cost an extra $600 to $900 million.
NASA's investigation into whether additional astronauts could be enlisted on the already-delayed flight proved that its initial plan was the best. "It really reaffirmed the baseline plan we have in place is the best way to go," Lightfoot told reporters on a May 12 conference call.
Given that the employees of NASA are actual rocket scientists, it makes sense that they would be the one agency immune from President Trump's flaring temper and inability to accept or speak the truth.
20 Homemade Snacks to Pack on an Airplane
At the top of your list of what to pack for a trip should be something very important: snacks. Because let's face it - airplane food is not the best (there's a reason Gordon Ramsay would never eat it). Packing your favorite homemade snacks ensures you won't suffer from midflight hunger, and you'll have more energy to get through a long travel day. Skip the store-bought junk on your next trip and opt for filling snacks like smoky almonds, baked kale chips, chocolate peanut butter bites, and more homemade snacks that are fit for a plane.
Why the Firefighter Who Responded to Diana's Car Crash Thought She Would Survive
Twenty years after Princess Diana's devastating death, the firefighter who responded to her car crash is speaking publicly for the first time. During an interview with The Sun, Xavier Gourmelon opened up about that horrific night at the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris that he says will "stay with him forever." Even though the car was a mess when he arrived to the scene, one of the most shocking revelations is that he actually thought she would survive.
"We just dealt with it like any road accident," he said, adding that he didn't initially realize he was treating the royal. "We got straight to work to see who needed help and who was alive." When he found Diana, he says she was "on the floor in the back moving slightly." "Diana said to me, 'My God, what's happened?' I could see she had a slight injury to her right shoulder but, other than that, there was nothing significant," he added. "There was no blood on her at all."
After pulling her out of the Mercedes, Xavier says, Diana suffered cardiac arrest, but he was able to resuscitate her. "I massaged her heart and a few seconds later she started breathing again," he said. "It was a relief of course because, as a first responder, you want to save lives - and that's what I thought I had done." Even though he thought she would be OK, Diana later succumbed to massive internal injuries in the hospital. "It was very upsetting," he added. "As far as I knew when she was in the ambulance she was alive and I expected her to live."

How a Stranger's Comment Changed the Way I Parent
We'd spent a few hours at the beach during our Spring break trip to San Diego when the weather turned and we decided to pack it up and head out. I juggled sandy beach toys and wet towels in my arms and attempted to convince my 2-and-a-half-year-old that it was a good idea to leave the endless playground that is the beach while my husband followed behind with the folding chairs and our crying 4-month-old. As we trudged through the sand, I noticed an older man look at us and heard him comment sweetly to his wife: "Those were the days, weren't they?"
I stopped - not physically, because that would have sent plastic toys flying and my toddler running - but inwardly, and when we got back to the car my voice cracked as I told my husband what I'd heard. There weren't actual tears, though that wouldn't have been too surprising for my sentimental self, but I got emotional thinking about it. These are the days. We're in them, living them. Right. Now.
It was a powerful reminder for me as a mom. Especially as a mom who, at the time, was only four months in with two kids and who'd spent the first eight weeks after my second son's birth wondering how on earth anyone has more than one child and their sanity. It had taken me a while to get into a groove and there were more than a few mornings when I had to force myself to get up to tend to a crying child and even more afternoons when I wondered how early was too early to pour a glass of wine.
Juggling 2-year-old tantrums with nap schedules and never-ending bedtime routines makes for some long days, and when you throw in being responsible for actually feeding the entire family and maintaining the relationship that got you there in the first place, it can be overwhelming.
The grocery shopping and the lunch packing and the endless picking up of toys. The busyness of all the little things starts to drown out the beauty of it all as one big thing. It's easy to lose sight of how magical a time it is when you're in the middle of the everyday, but that man's comment reminded me that the days when our children are little are the days that we'll be nostalgic for once they're calling us for money instead of whining for more Cheerios.
In the weeks since, I've made a conscious effort to replay those words and that scene at the beach in my mind. We were sticky with sunscreen, hair tangled from the wind, hands full of stuff, dragging our babies through the sand, and instead of seeing chaos, that man saw us as a beautiful memory of his own young family. We were the highlight reel.
The potty training accidents, the endless snack requests and subsequent spills, the constant fight over the need to actually be buckled into a car seat - these may not be the highlights of each day, but somewhere along with that first baby smile, the hilarious comments only a toddler is capable of making, and the out-of-nowhere hugs that make you want to freeze time, they all combine to make one amazing lifetime of experiences.
The challenge is remembering that the next time your toddler intentionally throws a plastic fire truck at your infant's head after they both refused to nap all day and you just realized there's no food in the house for dinner. Man, these are the days.

It's time to get familiar with Louis Tomlinson. The singer, formerly of One Direction fame and currently a solo star, has been making the rounds to promote his latest single with Bebe Rexha, "Back to You," and I personally am so pleased with the direction his career is going in. As someone who has been just a bit of a fan for just a bit of time, I have always known Louis is talented, but I've also never been able to deny how ridiculously attractive he is. From the tips of his quiff to the bottom of his often-bare feet, Louis is one hot Brit everyone should take note of. Illustrators have had fun turning beloved Disney princesses into all sorts of things, from '50s-style pinup girls to Star Wars heroines. The only artistic mashup we haven't seen yet happens to be one that would most likely follow all the "happily ever after" storylines - what these fairy-tale characters would look like as parents.
Thankfully, artist Isaiah Stephens lets us in on what it'd really be like for Ariel to have a food-throwing toddler, for Belle to breastfeed, and for Jasmine to rock a baby bump with nine amazingly accurate depictions - all shared on his Facebook page and Instagram account. From Pocahontas to Queen Elsa, it's fun to see what realistically comes after their storybook ending. Take a look.
What Exactly Are Bran Stark's Powers as the Three-Eyed Raven?
Brandon Stark has been off finding himself for a while on Game of Thrones. OK, OK, he's actually been doing very important work becoming the Three-Eyed Raven. But just what exactly does that mean? What kind of powers does that give young Lord Stark?
Warging
Going back to season three, fans have seen Brandon "warg" into various creatures, which basically means his conscious takes over their able bodies. He's done it with animals, like his direwolf, Summer, and ravens, and he's also done it with a person when he entered Hodor's mind. (RIP, Hodor . . . we're still not over your death.)
Using animals is the typical method of warging. In fact, Bran might be the only person to ever warg into a person. It seems to be a dangerous proposition to the inhabitee, as Bran's warging into young Hodor during a vision and Hodor's subsequent death in the future are what led to Hodor's mental break as a young man.
Greensight
Greensight is one of the talents of some Children of the Forest, but some humans can also experience it. Bran is one such human, blessed (cursed?) with this ability that lets him see past and present events without having to be there - this is firmly established, as we just saw him travel back in time to witness Rhaegar Targaryen's wedding to Lyanna Stark and he also recently is able to witness Littlefinger threatening his father, Ned, back in season one, which he brings up during Littlefinger's trial in the season seven finale.
Bran's greensight first shows itself in season one, when he has a prophetic dream about his father, Ned, being executed at King's Landing. Jojen Reed later explains to Bran that this is, in fact, greensight, which the Children of the Forest are known for. It is at this point in season three that Bran really starts to realize he might have extraordinary powers.
The Three-Eyed Raven
Now, we know Bran the ability to warg and the power of greensight before meeting the Three-Eyed Raven. But once they meet, the Three-Eyed Raven trains Bran in how to harness his powers and take over as the Three-Eyed Raven. This means instead of just being some boy with a few mystical powers, Bran is now kind of the guardian of these powers. Presumably, he will hold the Three-Eyed Raven post until such time as he dies an old man, when he will have trained a new Three-Eyed Raven to take his place.
What's interesting is that with the former Three-Eyed Raven's guidance, Bran is taken to specific past events that help him learn important lessons or glean important knowledge for the events of present day. But now that the former Three-Eyed Raven is gone, Bran is kind of casting about at random when it comes to pivotal events.
Case in point: Bran doesn't know Rhaegar and Lyanna were married until his conversation with Samwell Tarly tips him off and he goes back in time to witness it. Nor does he know to look into Littlefinger's dealings until he and his sisters start conspiring to bring Littlefinger down.
What Bran Can't Do
There is some debate as to whether Bran can also see the future. He has definitely seen flashes of future events in his visions, like in his montage of quick glimpses in season six, episode six. As this slow-mo video shows, Bran sees the explosion of the Great Sept of Baelor four episodes before it actually happens.
However, that doesn't necessarily mean Bran can just look into the future like a fortune teller and see all the events unfold - because if he could, why hasn't he done that already? It feels more like Bran can get flashes of events, almost like prophecies, rather than full-on knowledge of the future.
It is also unclear if Bran can warg into a person who is at full mental capacity. Now, this does get into the rules of time travel a bit - Bran's warging into Hodor is what caused Hodor to have his mental break. But when Bran wargs into Hodor, it's in season six and Hodor is already "simple minded," even if it is Bran's warging that causes that to happen to young Hodor. Trippy, right?
But either way, Hodor is not at full mental capacity when Bran wargs into him, so we don't yet know if Bran could take over someone who perhaps has the mental abilities to fight off being warged into - we're sort of imagining an Imperius Curse situation, where someone could throw off the warging if they fought hard enough.

This Touching Moment From Princess Diana's Funeral Almost Didn't Happen
Princess Diana's funeral was an unforgettably tragic and touching event watched by billions around the world. Almost 20 years later, the images still conjure up emotions, especially those of her two young sons, Princes William and Harry. Among the most iconic is the picture of the boys walking behind Diana's horse-drawn casket with their father, grandfather, and uncle, Earl Spencer, Diana's brother. Atop the casket, Harry had placed a card addressed to "Mummy."

The story behind the procession provides insight into the royal family dynamic ahead of the funeral. Sally Bedell Smith relays the details in her new biography of the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles. The day before the funeral, the royal family had arrived back in London after grieving privately at the queen's Scottish estate Balmoral. Bedell Smith explains that "the one lingering question about the funeral was whether William and Harry would walk in the procession behind their mother's horse-drawn gun carriage." Charles wanted his sons to walk because it was a tradition for royal men, but the boys were reluctant.
Finally, it was their grandfather, Prince Philip, who helped William and Harry make the decision. Bedell Smith writes that Prince Philip told William, "If you don't walk, you may regret it later." He went on, "I think you should do it. If I walk, will you walk with me?" Thanks to that conversation, William and Harry joined the procession at St. James's Palace, providing history with a moment we won't soon forget.
OK, So Even Bran Stark Himself Doesn't Think Bran Is the Night King
With just one season of Game of Thrones left, fans are in overdrive speculating on what might happen in the show's final six episodes. One theory that has been gaining steam is that Bran is the Night King. The Night King is at the top of mind following the riveting season seven finale, and his mysterious nature has fans picking apart what his motives are and who he really is. Many suspect Bran since his three-eyed raven powers allow him to time-travel (and mess with timelines, as the case may be), and some have even noticed that Bran and the Night King kinda dress alike.
However, there's one person who isn't here for the comparisons. Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran on the show, recently told The Hollywood Reporter that he doesn't buy into the theory, saying, "I don't know. I think it's a little bit far-fetched. But the whole Hodor thing, if I had read that as a theory, I would have said, 'Nah, this is crazy.' So, who knows? Although I have to say, people are now comparing my face to the Night King and going, 'Yeah! It's him! It's over, there's no question about it!' And I'm like, 'I don't look that much like the Night King, do I?'"
It's clear that the actors are in the dark just like the show's fans, but considering Bran currently spends most of his time sitting under a tree or staring into a fire, it's hard to believe he could also be the guy who's been murdering dragons and bringing down the Wall. We'll just be waiting patiently - possibly until 2019 - for the answer, but in the meantime, maybe we should give poor Hempstead Wright a break and stop suggesting he actually looks like an undead blue person.
True Detective Season 3 Is Officially Happening, With Mahershala Ali Front and Center
After a dry, painfully slow second season of True Detective, HBO's gritty drama unsurprisingly lost a good deal of the fans who couldn't get enough of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in season one. Luckily, it seems that network executives knew exactly how to lure everyone back for a potential third season: Mahershala Ali. In June, the Oscar-winning Moonlight actor was in talks to play the lead in the next installment of the series, and on Thursday, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the show will officially be returning.
The third season will tell the story of "a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods." Ali will play the role of Arkansas state police detective Wayne Hays - and we can't wait to see him in uniform. In addition to captivating audiences on the silver screen, Ali has also done his fair share of work on "prestige" TV shows like House of Cards and Luke Cage. In other words: he's a perfect fit.
The Emmy-winning anthology series was created by Nic Pizzolatto, who has an overall deal with the network through 2018 and will be joined on the project by director Jeremy Saulnier (but not Deadwood creator David Milch, who was rumored to be taking the reins). In a statement on Thursday, Pizzolatto said, "I'm tremendously thrilled to be working with artists at the level of Mahershala and Jeremy. I hope the material can do justice to their talents, and we're all very excited to tell this story." Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey, and the show's original director, Cary Joji Fukunaga, will all have executive producer credits.
Game of Thrones: The Similarities Between Robb & Lyanna Stark Are Heartbreaking
The following contains spoilers for Game of Thrones season seven.
The Game of Thrones season seven finale is a huge deal. Not because of Littlefinger's death, the ice dragon, or Jon and Daenerys finally doing the damn thing (though those are all extremely important developments in the show), but because it gives an official look at the much-debated relationship between Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. And while fans were excited to finally get a tangible peek into Jon Snow's origins, Rhaegar and Lyanna's wedding scene is also bittersweet. Why? Because it solidifies that every bit of war and drama leading up to the current moment on the show was essentially founded on nothing.
To understand Rhaegar and Lyanna's choices, we need only recall Robb Stark and his bride, Talisa.
"Robert's Rebellion was built on a lie," Bran Stark tells Sam after witnessing the wedding through his greensight. "Rhaegar didn't kidnap my aunt or rape her. He loved her, and she loved him." Now that we know that Lyanna eloped with Rhaegar by choice, it means that Robert Baratheon rebelled against the Mad King based on a misunderstanding, dividing all of Westeros. It also means that Ned Stark's father and elder brother - who were killed for demanding that Rhaegar release Lyanna as his "captive" - died for nothing. Well, not for nothing . . . for love.
"The things we do for love" has been the catalyst for the entirety of GOT's seven-season plot, and not just because of Jaime Lannister's actions in the very first episode. Lyanna and Rhaegar sparked an avalanche of unfathomable events with their pursuit of true love before the series ever began, and we continue to see their choices affect Westeros even decades later. And they're not the only couple we've seen face unintended consequences through elopement on the show; to understand Rhaegar's and Lyanna's choices, we need only recall Robb Stark and his bride, Talisa.
These Celebrity Weddings Were Basically Made For Halloween
Celebrity weddings are usually over-the-top celebrations that include white dresses, blush colors, and rustic themes. But while many people tend to go the traditional route, there are a few Hollywood stars who veer completely in the other direction. And since Halloween is almost upon us once again, we couldn't think of a better time to round up the top five spookiest celebrity weddings. From a fire-and-ice-themed ceremony to a photo shoot in a morgue, keep scrolling to see who went dark for the happiest days of their lives.

The Details of Jimi Hendrix's Death Are Still Pretty Frightening, Even 50 Years Later
Just hearing the name Jimi Hendrix conjures an electric energy; after all, this was the guy who performed a now-iconic rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Woodstock and set his guitar on fire at the Monterey Pop Festival. But just a few years after hitting it big in the music world, Jimi's life would end in a very sad way.
In the days before his death, Jimi hadn't been feeling great; he was overworked, wasn't sleeping, and reportedly had the flu. On Sept. 17, 1970, Jimi was in London with his girlfriend, a German painter named Monika Dannemann. The two spent the evening at her apartment at the Samarkand Hotel in Notting Hill, chilling out, smoking hashish, and drinking tea. They had dinner and shared a bottle of red wine, then Jimi took a bath and Monika drove him to a party hosted by one of Jimi's business associates, Pete Kameron. While at the party, Jimi was said to have taken "at least one amphetamine tablet" known as a "Black Bomber." Monika soon returned to the party, demanding to speak with Jimi, who, according to guests, got angry because she "wouldn't leave him alone." Jimi eventually relented, went downstairs to speak to his girlfriend, and unexpectedly left the party around 3 a.m.
In his book Jimi Hendrix: The Final Days, author Tony Brown recounts the details of Jimi and Monika's night. Monika was the last person to see Jimi alive; she later told authorities that she made tuna sandwiches for them when they got home, and that Jimi, who was still struggling to sleep, asked her for sleeping pills. She said that she wouldn't give them to him, but took one herself around 6 a.m. When she woke up four hours later, Jimi was "sleeping normally" next to her. She left the apartment to go buy cigarettes, came back and found him in bed, breathing but unconscious. She called the police, and an ambulance arrived at 11:27 a.m. Oddly enough, when crew members arrived at the flat, the door was wide open and the curtains were closed, but Monika Dannemann was gone.

According to paramedic Reg Jones, Jimi was "covered in vomit," and "his airway was completely blocked all the way down." Once police arrived, Jimi was taken to St. Mary Abbot's Hospital in Kensington, where attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. "He was cold and he was blue," Dr. Martin Seifert explained. "On admission he was obviously dead. He had no pulse, no heartbeat, and the attempt to resuscitate him was merely a formality." Jimi Hendrix was pronounced dead at 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 18, 1970. He was 27.
The autopsy exam concluded that Jimi choked on his own vomit and died of asphyxia while intoxicated with sleeping pills. The coroner didn't find any evidence of suicide, but Monika later stated that Jimi had taken nine of her Vesparax sleeping pills, which would have been 18 times the legal dose. The details of Jimi's death are still being disputed to this day: some believe that red wine was forced down his throat in at attempt to murder him, while others maintain that he died by suicide amid frustrations with the music business. It also doesn't help that Monika's statements to authorities would change significantly each time.
But just 16 days after Jimi's passing, the music world would lose another incredible talent: Janis Joplin was found dead from a heroin overdose in her LA hotel room at the same age as Jimi. The two would become part of a group of famous musicians who coincidentally passed away at the same young age, including Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, and Amy Winehouse. While Jimi's life and career was tragically cut short (and the details of his passing are still being debated), his influence and legacy will live on forever.

7 Causes That Were Near and Dear to Princess Diana's Heart
Princess Diana was known for her impeccable sense of style and flawless beauty, but she is best remembered for her heart of gold. Diana spoke out on a wide range of issues close to her heart - including HIV/AIDS, leprosy, and cancer - and used her global influence to raise awareness as well as funds. She regularly visited hospitals, schools, and fundraising galas and even took trips to Angola, India, and Pakistan, touching the lives of many wherever she went. While Diana is no longer around, her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, have carried on her legacy by championing some of the same charities and causes as their mother and carrying on her traditions in their personal lives.
The Final, Chilling Moments Leading Up to Princess Diana's Tragic Death
It's been nearly 20 years since Princess Diana tragically passed away. The Princess of Wales, who was best known for her dedication to charity work and impeccable sense of style, was only 36 years old when she was involved in an automobile accident in the Alma Tunnel in France, just 25 minutes after midnight on Aug. 31, 1997. Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, sat in the back of the car, while Dodi's bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, sat in the front with driver Henri Paul. None of them wore seat belts.
Trevor is the sole survivor of the crash, and Dodi and Henri were killed on the spot. Diana's heart was still beating by the time the ambulance arrived at the Pitié-Salpetrière Hospital in southeast Paris, but shortly after, her condition began to deteriorate. After multiple attempts to revive her, doctors came to terms with the fact that they could no longer do anything more to save her life. Diana went into cardiac arrest at around 2:10 a.m. and was pronounced dead at 4 a.m. In a statement read to a hearing at the Royal Courts of Justice in London, anesthesiologist Daniel Eyraud said, "We decided by common consent to stop heart massage as it was completely impossible to restore cardiac activity after such a long period of arrest. From that point, the Princess was pronounced dead. I personally believe we did everything possible to save the Princess with the appropriate means."
On Sept. 6, seven days after her passing, Diana was honored with a public funeral that remains one of the most watched events in history. Three million people crowded the streets of London to follow the route of Diana's coffin from Kensington Palace to her final resting place at the Spencer family home in Althorp, England, and an estimated 2.5 billion people worldwide viewed or listened to the funeral. Diana left behind two sons, Prince Harry and Prince William, who have since devoted their lives to keeping their mother's legacy alive.

Girl Scouts' Honest Response About the Problem With Buying Cookies on Amazon
Girl Scout cookie season only comes once a year, so what's a girl to do when the craving hits at any given moment? Buying Girl Scout cookies on Amazon - where Samoas, Thin Mints, Tagalongs, and Trefoils are available for a high price - is one option, but it's one that's sparking controversy.
While this cookie-buying option is convenient, there's a reason it's problematic, too. A Girl Scouts representative told POPSUGAR, "We caution against purchases of Girl Scout Cookies found for sale online at auction and via community list sites, such as eBay and Amazon, because GSUSA, your local Girl Scout council, and our licensed cookie bakers cannot guarantee the freshness or integrity of these cookies. In many instances, these cookies are actually expired. Further, purchasing cookies in this way does not support Girl Scouts participating in the cookie program."
The good news is that you can buy Girl Scout cookies in person through April (use the Girl Scout cookies finder to find out where), and you can stock up on as many boxes as you want knowing that your purchase is going toward a good cause. Pro tip: Thin Mints taste great frozen, so you can enjoy them all year round, no online shopping required.
Game of Thrones: You'll Need a Tall Glass of Ale After Seeing The Hound in Real Life
Game of Thrones has produced some of the worst (as in, evil) characters that have ever appeared on TV. But as dark as the show can sometimes get, it also gives fans hilarious characters, witty one-liners, and powerful sex scenes. One character in particular that has walked the line between good and bad quite frequently is Sandor Clegane, or The Hound. The incredibly large man, played by actor Rory McCann, was the personal bodyguard to King Joffrey before befriending Arya and forming a slightly heartwarming protective relationship with her.
The Hound always stands out on screen thanks to his massive facial scars, which were given to him when his evil older brother, the Mountain, held his face against a flame after he played with one of the Mountain's toys when they were kids. In real life, however, Rory's face is thankfully free of all that. Seeing the actor out of his Game of Thrones garb is a bit jarring at first, but his goofy personality will win you over in no time.
Learn More About Princess Diana's Siblings - and How They're Keeping Her Memory Alive
When Diana, Princess of Wales, died 20 years ago, it was not only her ex-husband Prince Charles who accompanied her body back from Paris, but also her sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Baroness Jane Fellowes. And at her funeral, her brother Charles, Earl Spencer, walked behind the gun carriage carrying her body before delivering the eulogy.
They were key roles for Diana's grieving siblings, and since that time, they have all worked to keep their much-loved sister's memory alive, whether that's been by nurturing their relationship with nephews Prince William and Prince Harry, presiding over the late princess's charity, or recalling fond memories of her. But who are they as individuals, and what are they doing now? We take a look . . .
Holy Sh*t, This Look at How Game of Thrones Is Made Is Absolutely Insane
It's obvious that there's an incredible amount of work put into each Game of Thrones episode, but this behind-the-scenes look at what each moment actually requires is absolutely wild. HBO offers a peek behind the curtain in its new seven-part series, Game Revealed, which shows the making of each episode. In episode one, a number of cool moments are addressed, including Arya's transformation into Walder Frey, the march of the White Walkers, Ed Sheeran's cameo, that hilarious Samwell Tarly montage, and Daenerys Targaryen's arrival in Westeros. Particularly fascinating is the work behind the Dragonstone set, which creator David Benioff called the "best set" they'd ever built. Check out some of the interesting facts from the episode below, then get all the details on season eight.
- The Arya/Walder Frey moment: Maisie Williams wore a full-head prosthetic of actor David Bradley's face, and strategic camera angles helped to sell the moment of her reveal.
- Ed Sheeran's cameo: When Ed saw that he'd be playing a Lannister soldier and Arya would be in the scene, he assumed he'd be killed.
- Cersei's map room: The map of the Seven Kingdoms that Cersei's seen walking on throughout the season is a hand-painted map. Even cooler? The man seen painting the map during the scene with Cersei and Jaime is actually the graphic artist who designed and created the map.
- The Sam Tarly montage: Remember Sam's poop-filled montage at the Citadel? It was only about two minutes long, but it took a whopping three and a half days to shoot.
- Daenerys landing in Westeros: Three different locations were used for the memorable scene.

We're Getting an All-Female Lord of the Flies Movie Written by Men - What Could Go Wrong?
In "We Never Asked For This, but Hollywood Is Giving It to Us Anyway" news, another Lord of the Flies movie is on the way, but unlike William Golding's classic 1954 novel and the 1963 and 1990 film adaptations, this version is replacing the young male castaways with girls. Oh, and Deadline reports that it will be written and directed by two men, Scott McGehee and David Siegel, for Warner Bros.
*pause for exasperated sigh*
While the move to replace a large cast of male characters with female ones is gender progressive, in a way, the story - a plane carrying a group of British schoolboys is shot down during wartime and they're left stranded on a remote island, where they eventually devolve into a toxic society - basically negates all hope that this movie will be empowering for women in any way. Do we really need to watch a bunch of young girls destroy each other as they regress into female stereotypes within their vicious, self-contained community? Even Golding himself pointed out that his novel's story could only work with men, noting that "women are foolish to pretend they are equal to men, they are far superior and always have been."
While all-female versions of movies like Ghostbusters and the upcoming Ocean's Eight make sense, redoing Lord of the Flies in this way (which will essentially be the opposite of Wonder Woman's Themyscira) seems like a pretty obvious misstep. We've already seen similar situations play out in movies like Mean Girls, Heathers, and Jawbreaker, but the fun, campy elements of those films will presumably be absent from McGehee and Siegel's screenplay. Fortunately for everyone irritated by the news, Twitter did not hold back in sharing all the reasons the concept is a huge bummer.
imagine having such little interest in seeking out original stories about girlhood by women that you remake LORD OF THE FLIES with girls

An all women remake of Lord of the Flies makes no sense because... the plot of that book wouldn't happen with all women.

A thousand words on how they already did an all-girl Lord of the Flies and called it Mean Girls.

the thing about lord of the flies is that it's about systemic male violence + how it replicates

"all-female Lord of the Flies remake" SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE MISSED THE FUUUUUCKIN POINT OF LORD OF THE FLIES

We're literally living an all-male "Lord of the Flies" right now, but sure, let's see two male writers describe how women would be worse.

The Lord of the Flies movie feels like a studio had a big jar of "Make with Chicks?" ideas & just picked the one that made the least sense.

50+ Photos That Show the Outpouring of Love at Princess Diana's Public Funeral
When Princess Diana was tragically killed in a car crash in August 1997, it seemed as though the world was mourning just as deeply as her own family. Diana, dubbed "The People's Princess," made an indelible mark on those in the UK as well as around the globe; her funeral, which was held on Sept. 6, was watched or listened to by an estimated 2.5 billion people worldwide - making it one of the most watched events in history. In London, a crowd of nearly one million people gathered to trace Diana's coffin from Kensington Palace to Westminster Abbey to her final resting place at the Spencer family's home in Althorp.
Diana's sons, Harry and William, followed their mother's coffin alongside their father, Prince Charles, and their uncle Charles, the Earl Spencer. The visibly moved onlookers blanketed the streets with heartfelt notes, bouquets, and teddy bears, and flower petals rained down from bystanders along the procession route. People also gathered in Hyde Park, where the ceremony was being aired on a giant screen, while celebrities like Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Hillary Clinton, and Elton John attended the official ceremony inside Westminster Abbey.
