Why Watching Bad TV Can Actually Be Considered Self-Care
I'll be the first to admit my DVR is not full of the most high-quality television out there. While I religiously watch Game of Thrones (it's hard to work at POPSUGAR if you don't) and always eventually get to the critically acclaimed stuff (I was only six months late to Big Little Lies and I'm sure I'll love Breaking Bad when I see it), my DVR is stocked full of stuff that most people have never heard of or abandoned a long time ago.
I joke a lot about my TV habits, but I recently realized that every show I watch really does serve a purpose. Each show, in its own way, helps me unwind and forget for a little while that the world is a crazy place. There are so many ways to practice self-care, and in recent years, it's become more of a trend. I'd like to offer one new way to take care of yourself: zoning the f*ck out for 30 minutes to an hour.
My life is not hard. I go to work every day for a company that I'm proud of and I have a family that I love. That said, when it's 9 p.m. and I'm exhausted with a messy house, a growing to-do list on my mind, and a Twitter feed that is pissing me off, my TV is the fastest and easiest way to escape from it all. And my guilty-pleasure shows check every box I need.
Queen Letizia Is the Royal With the Best Accessories We've Ever Seen
Queen Letizia knows how to rock accessories better than any other royal, including Kate Middleton. Did we just say that? Yes, we did and we are sticking by our statement.
The Spanish royal knows when it's time to put on the perfect, dangly earrings to pull her look together or rock the most sparkly tiara with a ball gown that will make you faint. We love sitting at the edge of our seats, holding our breath, just waiting to see how Letizia will make her outfit complete by adding the perfect accessory. Here are her best.
Throw Out Your High School Flat Iron and Shop These Top Picks For Sleek, Straight Hair
If you have owned the same flat iron for years, it might be time to get your hands on a new one. That older contraption could be damaging your hair. Running two scorching hot plates down your tresses isn't exactly what we would call healthy, but certain tools can be less damaging than others. Flat irons that are made from ceramic or titanium are often much better for your hair; they emit negative ions that release moisture to lock in your hairstyle without burning it. If you use a lower heat setting and protective hair products, you can achieve the look you want with minimal damage. Take a look at these high-rated flat irons to get those straight and silky locks you've been wanting.
Mark Zuckerberg Pens Powerful Post Defending DACA and the Dreamers
Back in February, President Donald Trump said he would "show great heart" when it came to the status of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program - and the 800,000 immigrants who are currently protected under it. However, despite pleas from 2,000 government leaders and officials around the country, the president might end the DACA program anyway. On Aug. 31, a new call to protect the young immigrants, known as Dreamers, came in the form of a letter signed by 300 business leaders, including a personal Facebook post from Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Signed by CEOs from Airbnb, Lyft, Netflix, Apple, and Google, the letter was posted on FWD.us, an organization dedicated to immigration reform. In it, the business leaders write to the president, as well as House Speaker Paul Ryan, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Senate Minority Leader Senator Charles E. Schumer. The letter states, "As entrepreneurs and business leaders, we are concerned about new developments in immigration policy that threaten the future of young undocumented immigrants brought to America as children." It goes on to express how much Dreamers have contributed to society and to subject them to the threat of deportation if DACA is ended would be extremely detrimental to the economy and our society. It ends with, "We call on President Trump to preserve the DACA program. We call on Congress to pass the bipartisan DREAM Act or legislation that provides these young people raised in our country the permanent solution they deserve." A separate statement from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also expresses Nadella's support of DACA and the Dreamers.
In a Powerful Letter, 2,000 Leaders Pledge to Stand With Young Immigrants Known as "Dreamers"
In a separate Facebook post on Aug. 31, Zuckerberg wrote why he "stand[s] with the Dreamers." He not only wants Trump to keep DACA alive but for Congress to also pass the Dream Act of 2017 to ensure the protection of the Dreamers. "These young people represent the future of our country and our economy," Zuckerberg wrote. "They are our friends and family, students and young leaders in our communities. I hope you will join us in speaking out." You can read the full post ahead.
I stand with the Dreamers -- the young people brought to our country by their parents. Many have lived here as long as...

According to a report from Fox News, Trump is expected to end DACA. Though White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a press briefing on Aug. 31 that DACA is still "under review," many do not believe Trump will "show great heart" to these young immigrants.
People Are Concerned About How Trump Takes His Steak For 1 Alarming Reason
It's no secret that Donald Trump's diet is not exactly nutritionist recommended, but the president's steak-eating habits in particular have people talking more and more lately. Trump prefers to order his steak well done, and at a dinner at the BLT Steakhouse, the restaurant inside the Trump Hotel in Washington DC, he reportedly dipped it in ketchup, too.
"The president ordered a well-done steak. An aged New York strip. He ate it with ketchup as he always does," a waiter at the restaurant said, according to the Independent Journal Review's report of Trump's dinner at his steakhouse.
And now Anthony Bourdain isn't the only one judging Trump for his steak preferences. Not only are people calling Trump out on Twitter, but some people are also pointing out that Trump's habits might speak to a larger mentality. Eater has analyzed Trump's steak habits even further in an op-ed about why the way Donald Trump eats his steak matters, saying, "A person who won't eat his steak any doneness but well is a person who won't entertain the notion that there could be a better way. A person who refuses to try something better is a person who will never make things good." The opinion piece points out that this eating habit might imply a fear of risk-taking and adaptability.
What do you think about the whole conversation: are people taking it too far, or does the fact that Trump orders his steak well done (with ketchup) bother you?

A Joker Movie Is on the Way, and Warner Bros. Reportedly Wants to Cast Leonardo DiCaprio
After the critical disaster that was Suicide Squad hit theaters in 2016, many fans were shocked and annoyed that Batman's archenemy, the Joker, barely appears in the movie at all despite the character being featured heavily in the film's promotional campaign. Even Jared Leto, who played the classic supervillain, voiced his own frustration at the decision to cut a lot of the Joker's scenes. In what appears to be a direct response to that (or just another way to milk the DC Extended Universe machine), Warner Bros. has announced that a new stand-alone movie about his backstory is on the way. Unfortunately not everyone in the Batman fandom is on board with the idea.

There's plenty of arguments for how a Joker movie could work, but in the end it humanizes him and that's not a Joker I want tbh.
- 🍳 Eggs & Blakon 🥓 (@extrablakon) August 23, 2017
There are multiple reasons for the pushback. In the right hands, a Joker origin story could be great, but the studio's choice to tap Todd Phillips to cowrite and potentially direct isn't sitting well with fans, since Phillips's previous directing credits include mostly raunchy comedies like The Hangover, Due Date, and Old School. Lending some gravity to the project is Scott Silver (8 Mile, The Fighter), who is attached to cowrite the script with Phillips, which finds the Joker in Gotham City in the early 1980s.
The movie's reception will also depend heavily on the actor who takes up the villain's iconic mantle. Since Martin Scorsese is reportedly producing, rumors are now swirling that the studio is eyeing longtime Scorsese collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio for the role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "there's no offer for DiCaprio, and sources say Scorsese's deal to produce isn't even done yet." So, the chance that the Oscar-winner will play the Joker are slim to none, at this point. Despite the odds, the rumors of a potential DiCaprio casting alone are enough to send the message that Warner Bros. is trying to put the Joker film on the same prestigious level that Christopher Nolan's award-worthy Dark Knight franchise.
Fans have already expressed worry over the studio's choice to recast Leto and the fact that the movie is being made instead of another female-led superhero (or supervillain) outing. It's obviously too early to judge the Joker film, but based on the DCEU's recent history, fans are right to be nervous.

In "Life Is a Lie" News, Prince's Sister Says His Favorite Color Was Actually Orange, Not Purple
Prince's sister Tyka Nelson is opening an exhibition of the late superstar's belongings in London this Fall, and while talking about the exciting project to the Evening Standard this week, she dropped a very surprising tidbit that blew our hair back. When asked about the "never-before-seen articles" that would be on display at The 02 in October, Tyka - who is Prince's last living full-blood relative - said, "The standout piece for me is his orange Cloud guitar. It is strange because people always associate the color purple with Prince, but his favorite color was actually orange." I'm so sorry, what?
Are we talking about the same Prince here? I don't recall ever seeing a movie called Orange Rain or listening to an artist nicknamed The Orange One (that would obviously go to President Donald Trump). So who is this one-in-a-million rock legend whose favorite color was "actually orange?" Not my Prince, that's for sure. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be listening to the song "Purple Rain" from the soundtrack to the film Purple Rain while painting my apartment the shade of purple that was recently created in The Purple One's honor.

The $800, 7,541-Piece Millennium Falcon Lego Set Would Probably Take Our Kids 20 Years to Build
If you thought Lego's previous Millennium Falcon set - which debuted in 2007 with 5,195 pieces and was dubbed the "ultimate collector's edition" - was as impressive as it got for Star Wars fans, let Yoda set you straight: "No . . . there is another."
Today, which happens to be Force Friday, Lego announced a world-record-breaking update: a new Millennium Falcon Lego set that consists of 7,541 teeny tiny bricks. It's now the largest set in Lego history, trouncing the Lego Taj Mahal, which has 1,619 fewer pieces.
If the sheer volume of pieces (and thus, the daunting number of hours it'd take to complete) doesn't give you pause, perhaps the price tag will. This updated Millennium Falcon will set any collector back $800.
Still interested? If the thought of owning this doesn't send you straight to the Dark Side, you'll be awestruck at the attention to detail. The iconic freighter comes with intricately created hull panels, a boarding ramp, a concealed blaster cannon, an engineering station with turning seat, a hidden floor compartment, escape pod hatches, and a cockpit with detachable canopy. Whether you're a fan of classic Star Wars or the reboot, the set includes the likes of Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Princess Leia as well as an older Han, Rey, Finn, and a BB-8 droid.
The finished product, which is available Oct. 1, measures more than 8 inches high, 33 inches long, and 22 inches wide. (You can read on for a video detailing the new set's imaginative design along with some breathtaking close-up shots.)
Do your kids have nothing going on for the next 20-odd years? Then go ahead and preorder yours now.

Why This Couple's Gender Reveal For Their Rainbow Baby Was a Huge Surprise to Guests
Before and after having their first child, a now 4-year-old son, Bennett, Kelsie Peters and her husband, Patrick, suffered through three miscarriages. Wanting to know if there was some kind of underlying issue, Kelsie underwent blood testing only to discover that she has a blood clotting disorder, which doctors said means she "shouldn't be able to sustain pregnancies without medical intervention."
A few months later, after being prescribed a blood thinner and continuing to try for another pregnancy, Kelsie and Patrick found out they were expecting - not one, but two babies - and couldn't wait to share the news with friends and family. "Awe immediately hit our faces and along with tears in our eyes, our hearts became overwhelmed at the thought of receiving a DOUBLE rainbow!" Kelsie shared with the Love What Matters Facebook page.
However, Kelsie says the couple decided to wait until their gender reveal party to tell their loved ones that they were having twins. "It's too difficult emotionally to tell family we're pregnant . . . just to have to go back and take that joy away from them, all while dealing with our own loss and grief," Kelsie wrote. "So during the gender reveal, we had a hidden box ready to be thrown in last minute to completely throw everyone off. Needless to say it worked!"
Find out the genders of the Peters's twins in the video above, and even better, hear their family's collective reaction to the huge and wonderful surprise.

Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington Both Star in D&G's New Fragrance Campaign, and Oh My God
As we approach the first weekend without a new episode of Game of Thrones, Dolce & Gabbana has just the remedy to quell our appetite for more. Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington, whose characters Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow sealed their romance in one of the most talked-about scenes of the season seven finale, unite once again in a campaign for The One fragrances. It's almost too much to handle.
Emilia, the face of The One Eau de Toilette ($86), and Kit, the face of The One for Men ($67), both have commercials where they party in the streets alongside locals in Naples, Italy. Captured by filmmaker Matteo Garrone, they both look stunning dressed to the nines. There's dancing. There's spaghetti. It's festive, playful, and gives even more reason to want to hang out with these two IRL close friends. While the charismatic duo don't share screen time together in this campaign (sob), our fingers are crossed that Dolce & Gabbana has more in store.
Ahead, see both of their campaign photos, videos, and behind-the-scenes goodness.

What the Wall's Destruction Means For the Next Season of Game of Thrones
The unthinkable has finally happened: the Wall came tumbling down on Game of Thrones, thanks to the undead Viserion's fiery blast. It was the very definition of an OMG moment, and now that we've had time to scrape our jaws off the floor, it's time to consider what the fall of the Wall means for Westeros. In short, it means everyone is screwed, but this new development is sure to make season eight an intense ride. The Night King and his army are officially marching south, and the barrier between Westeros and the true North is no more. Everything the citizens of the Seven Kingdoms thought they knew about their world is about to change in a major way.
Season eight is still a long (long) way off, but the destruction of the Wall is such a major event that the time to start thinking about the ramifications is now.
The Wall's Magic Has Been Broken
Bran the Builder, the Children of the Forest, and the giants teamed up to build the Wall thousands of years ago when the Children of the Forest's little White Walker experiment got out of hand. They used a mix of good old-fashioned manual labor and magic to construct the massive barrier between Westeros and the expansive North, with the goal being to prevent the White Walkers from ever entering the Seven Kingdoms again. In season six, Benjen Stark tells Bran and Meera that "ancient spells were carved into its foundation" and that as long as the Wall stood, the dead would never pass.
That magic couldn't withstand the onslaught of a dragon, though, and it's safe to say whatever spells were in place have effectively been broken. With so few practitioners of magic left, there's little hope of rebuilding the Wall. Everyone who lives in Westeros needs to band together to destroy the White Walkers for good this time, because there is no plan B. If they leave even one wight alive, they're doomed.
The Illusion of Safety Will be Gone
Sam spent most of season seven trying to convince the maesters that the Night King and his army were nothing to scoff at. However, Archmaester Ebrose's words sum up the reaction people had when Sam told them about the coming war: "The Wall has stood through it all, and every Winter that has ever came has ended." Ebrose and a whole lot of other people will now have to reevaluate their idea of safety because the Wall no longer stands.
The illusion that nothing beyond that great barrier could touch them is gone now. And with the Wall gone, fear is going to become a motivating factor for quite a few people. King's Landing may become flooded with refugees, which would put even more of a strain on the capital's food supply, while others may turn on the living as they scramble to keep themselves safe. More than that, the people are going to have confront the fact that this thing that they put so much faith in failed them and all of the stories they thought were fairy tales are real.
The Night King Is Free to Attack the Seven Kingdoms
After years of marching, the Night King is completely free to lay siege on the Seven Kingdoms. This isn't just scary because his army is deadly; it's terrifying because he now has limitless access to new recruits. Before, the only dead things he could raise were the ones beyond the Wall, but now he has access to everyone in Westeros. Meanwhile, Jon and Daenerys's army is finite. Expect more than one of your favorite characters to be turned before the war ends. With just six episodes left, Game of Thrones is going to be aiming to break as many hearts as possible.
The Night's Watch Will Be Forever Changed
With no Wall to guard, the institution of the Night's Watch may disappear forever. In recent history, they've been tasked with keeping the Wildlings out, but there's no time to hold on to petty grudges now. The Night's Watch no longer has a Wall to protect, and their true enemy is in the Seven Kingdoms. When the Great War ends, so will the brotherhood that has been protecting the realm since the Wall was built.
The North Will Fall First
It's no coincidence that almost all of the major players are currently in the North. Winterfell is sure to be a hub for the first part of season eight as the Night King's army pours into the region. Ideally, Jon, Daenerys, and their combined armies would be able to stop the White Walkers before they push further south. Unfortunately, that outcome seems unlikely, which means the North will almost certainly fall.
There Are Going to Be a Whole Lot of Battles
Season seven's battle scenes are sure to seem small in comparison to what lies ahead. With the White Walkers free to flood into Westeros, the skirmishes between the living and the dead will be epic. For viewers, that means you are almost guaranteed to see epic moments like Jaime and Brienne fighting side by side, Arya taking out a wight with her Valyrian steel dagger, and some dragon vs. dragon action as Drogon and Rhaegal face off against Viserion. Of course, some of our heroes will die, but the end of the Wall guarantees season eight will be a war story, and deaths are unavoidable.
The destruction of the Wall is a game changer. No one is safe going into season eight, and by the time the series ends, Westeros as we know it will be a very different place. Let's just hope it's still populated by the living.
Jason Momoa's Shirt Isn't the Only Thing That's Ripped in These Photos
Jason Momoa loves going to the beach almost as much as we love looking at his bulging biceps. On Friday, the actor took a break from filming Aquaman to go surfing near Byron Bay in New South Wales, Australia. Wearing colorful swim shorts and a sleeveless shirt, Jason put his gorgeous arms on full display as he walked along the ocean with his board. He even showed off his beautiful locks as he played with his hair while grabbing a drink with friends. If his incredible physique didn't convince you, then his love for the water should definitely prove he's the perfect Aquaman.
The Badass Move Princess Diana Pulled After Finding Out About Charles's Affair

Prince Charles and Princess Diana's 11-year marriage was fraught with scandals, affairs, and, well, the fact that they weren't really all that in love to begin with. But after the birth of Prince Harry in 1984, Diana experienced what she called "some of the happiest years of her life" as a wife and mother - sadly, it didn't last too long. In 1986, Prince Charles rekindled his pre-Diana romance with Camilla Parker Bowles, a relationship that first started back in the early '70s. According to interviews and conversations with friends, Diana never believed that Charles and Camilla had fully broken things off; she even alleged to have found photos of Camilla in Charles's journal during their honeymoon and made the famous statement of there being "three of us" in the marriage, telling Martin Bashir in 1995, "It was a bit crowded."

In Andrew Morton's controversial biography Diana: Her True Story, first published in 1992, Diana recalled "one of the bravest moments" of her marriage - a calculated confrontation with Camilla herself at a 40th birthday party for Camilla's sister, of all places. The year was 1989, and Diana decided that, after putting the pieces together and realizing that Charles and Camilla were carrying on an affair, she would turn up at the event unannounced and talk to Camilla face to face, once and for all.
Nobody knew Diana was going to show up - she wasn't even invited - and in a truly badass move, the princess interrupted a conversation between Camilla, Charles, and another male guest to speak to Camilla. She looked "really uncomfortable and put her head down," and Diana continued: "OK, boys, I'm just going to have a quick word with Camilla and I'll be up in a minute." The two men "shot upstairs like chickens with no heads," Diana said, adding, "I could feel, upstairs, all hell breaking loose - 'What is she going to do?'"
What Diana did was exactly what she planned to do. Though she admitted to being "terrified" of Camilla, Diana recalled staying "deathly calm." "The voice inside me had said, 'just go for it,'" she said in a taped conversation. "I said, 'I know what's going on between you and Charles and I just want you to know that.'" The princess called Camilla's reply "very interesting": "She said to me, 'You've got everything you ever wanted. You've got all the men in the world fall in love with you and you've got two beautiful children, what more do you want?'" "So I said, 'I want my husband,'" Diana said. "I said to Camilla, 'I'm sorry I'm in the way . . . and it must be hell for both of you. But I do know what's going on. Don't treat me like an idiot.'"
The aftermath from Diana and Camilla's standoff was swift. Diana said that after the party, Prince Charles "was over me like a bad rash, and I cried like I have never cried before," and that in the days after the confrontation there was a "tremendous shift" in their relationship. In frustration, Diana began her own string of extramarital affairs until she and Charles eventually separated, then divorced at the behest of Queen Elizabeth II. The couple managed to stay civil while co-parenting their sons until Diana's tragic death in August 1997. Prince Charles and Camilla were married in 2005.
Harry Potter's Emotional Epilogue Took Place Today, and Now We Can't Stop Crying
On Sept. 1, 2017, a grown-up Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley gathered together on Platform Nine and Three Quarters at King's Cross to bid farewell to their children, who were off to start their own adventures at Hogwarts. Just the thought of the epilogue in The Deathly Hallows is enough to make any Harry Potter fan a little teary, and now that the moment's actual date has come to pass, emotions are running high.
It's been 19 years since Harry's defeat of Voldemort within the story, 10 years since J.K. Rowling released Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and six years since the last movie hit theaters, but the loyalty and love of the iconic, wildly popular series has not faded. Rowling herself took the time to mark the occasion with a tweet about how Friday is the day Albus Severus Potter boards the Hogwarts Express for the very first time:

The beloved author also responded to the many tweets from people who were sad that they still haven't gotten their letters to Hogwarts in pretty much the best way, by retweeting something she'd actually told a fan back in 2015. "All these people saying they never got their Hogwarts letter: you got the letter," she wrote. "You went to Hogwarts. We were all there together."
To celebrate the special day, fans showed up in force at the real King's Cross station in London on Friday decked out in costumes and holding their wands.

You'll Scratch Your Head Just Like Rob When You Find Out Who He Used to Live With

In today's "what the hell" news, Robert Pattinson decided to randomly reveal an amazing, confusing, and odd fact about himself that has us scratching our heads. While calling into On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Thursday, the Good Time actor told the host that his first roommate in Hollywood was none other than Saved by the Bell actor Dustin Diamond. The two lived in LA's Oakwood apartment complex, which Ryan explained is known for housing up-and-coming actors. While it seems normal for Rob to be in those apartments back before his Twilight success, it is a bit strange that Dustin, or "Screech," was living there.
Not only are we scratching our heads at the thought of Rob and Screech living together, but the star also revealed that Dustin introduced him to a classic American dish: Hot Pockets! "I was with Screech, Dustin Diamond. I loved it. I really miss it," Rob said. "Dustin was the first person to introduce me to Hot Pockets!" What a strange day, guys.

A Mother and Her Baby Were Reunited After Hurricane Harvey Thanks to 1 Police Officer
Despite all the devastation, fury, and chaos the rains of Hurricane Harvey unleashed on Texas this past week, one touching story emerged from the disaster. Dajauh Zahne Henix, a mother from Houston, was reunited with her 8-month-old daughter Paige thanks to the help of one courageous officer after the pair was separated during the storm.
Henix was completely panic-stricken while she was trying to navigate neck-deep flood waters with Paige in tow after escaping from her mother's house in Houston. As she was moving through the water holding her daughter over her head, onlookers started screaming "Baby!" to get Henix the help she needed.
After hearing the cries, Corporal Reed Clark, who was on a watercraft nearby, came to the rescue and scooped up Paige from Henix's arms.
"She was holding the baby up and then the water would come up and you could see her neck and her head come under the water," said Clark in an interview with NBC News. "She was trying to get to higher ground."
Clark told the mother to meet her at a black truck down the road once she was able to get out of the water.
Once Henix finally got to the meeting point, however, her daughter was nowhere to be found. The mom was forced to go to a shelter without Paige and was left wondering about her baby's whereabouts for hours.
Desperate for help, Henix turned to Facebook in search of her baby girl. The mom noticed a photo of Clark holding a little girl, and that little girl was Paige.
Shortly after she saw the post, the pair was reunited. And while Texans are still battling destruction from the storm, this story offers a glimmer of hope.
Meet BB-9E, AKA "Dark BB-8," the Villain Droid From Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Thanks to Force Friday, i.e., the most glorious day for Star Wars fans (after May the 4th and the release date of the next movie, of course), we're getting to see the new toys that are being released for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. As is tradition, the toy releases also include character releases, and besides some badass new female characters, there's one droid everyone's going to be talking about: BB-9E.
Looking like a version of BB-8 that rolled through black and silver paint, BB-9E is the dark side's answer to the galaxy's most adorable droid. BB-9E is described as "part of the astromech unit of the First Order that keep their starships and machinery operational," and of course, everyone is going to want their own BB-9E (like the cute Funko POP! figurine), making him the perfect holiday gift for all your friends who are just slightly more evil than your other ones.
Relive the Moment Bette Midler Dusted Off Her Winifred Sanderson Costume From Hocus Pocus
It seems like celebrities constantly try and outdo each other on Halloween every year, but nobody (and we mean nobody, not even costume queen Heidi Klum) can top what Bette Midler did in 2016. The legendary actress showed up at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City to suck the lives out of little children. Well, not really. Bette, who is the founder of the New York Restoration Project, was on hand to attend the organization's Hulaween Bash. She dusted off her broom to go as her beloved Hocus Pocus character Winifred Sanderson, making it seem like no time has passed since a virgin lit the black flame candle back in 1993.
In addition to posing with fellow attendees Kathy Griffin and Marc Jacobs (yep, that's him in the bikini costume), Bette also linked up with her daughter, Sophie von Haselberg, and brought back some of Winifred's signature poses. And her costume was almost identical to the one she wore in the classic Halloween movie. Red hair? Check. Big teeth? Check. Being an overall badass? Check.

These Portraits of Frida Kahlo Made Entirely From Flowers Are Pure Magic
Every day, we see artists pay homage to Mexican icon Frida Kahlo, but we've never seen a piece honoring the artist more beautiful than these flower portraits.
Vivala first reported on Vicki Rawlins, the artist behind online shop Sister Golden. Vicki and her mother, who works with her on her handmade art, pride themselves in offering pieces that lend "a laid back, bohemian modern vibe, to any space and any lifestyle."
The mother-daughter duo specializes in prints made of their original fresh flower art and have a wide collection of Frida Kahlo work, including wall art and calendars. Each piece they create is unique, featuring foraged eucalyptus leaves, bougainvilleas, blue hydrangeas, and more. While the originals are not for sale, the attention to detail in them is so impeccable, it translates perfectly onto the prints. Get your wallets ready because you are going to want to buy all of them.
7 New Star Wars: The Last Jedi Characters We Just Met Thanks to the Toys
Ir's somewhat of a tradition for Star Wars toys to subtly reveal new Star Wars characters and give some plot hints about the next movie - in fact, one of the defenses for Rey not being featured in certain games for The Force Awakens was allegedly to prevent spoilers. So for this year's Force Friday reveal, we were hungrily awaiting bits of movie details the toys would give away. We're already psyched about the inclusion of more female characters, and we're pretty sure we know the droid everyone is going to be looking for, and we keep seeing more hints as more toys emerge. Here are some of the first looks at characters we've gotten for Star Wars: The Last Jedi!
These Are All the Rulers Who Have Reigned From the Iron Throne
For seven seasons now, Game of Thrones fans have sat in awe of the Iron Throne, a great hulking beast of a chair rumored to have been forged from 1,000 swords welded together. It's the most coveted seat in the series; it's the reason for all the scheming and gaming. But just who has sat upon this regal seat? Here's a quick rundown of the history of the Iron Throne.
The Targaryen Dynasty
Aegon the Conqueror is the first king to sit upon the Iron Throne. He has the throne commissioned after he conquers Westeros with his invading army and three dragons, Balerion, Meraxes, and Vhagar.
In fact, Aegon is also the king who establishes King's Landing. He has the city built on the site of his first landing in Westeros, using territory from surrounding kingdoms to form the Crownlands, which support the city.
After Aegon's death, both of his sons sit on the throne for a short time while construction is finished on the Red Keep (the royal castle in King's Landing). Neither son is terribly popular, as both face opposition from the Faith Militant, a group very much opposed to the Targaryen practice of incestuous marriage.
It isn't until Aegon's grandson, Jaeherys I, becomes king that a peaceful age begins. Jaeherys and the Faith Militant are able to call a truce and it is through the reigns of Jaeherys and his grandson Viserys I that there is peace and prosperity in Westeros.
Upon Viserys's death, a civil war breaks out over who will be the next ruler to sit on the Iron Throne, and this begins 130 years of various wars and fighting. The Targaryens always hold the Iron Throne, but among themselves, there is constant disagreement over who should rightfully rule the Seven Kingdoms.
Things truly come to a head when Aerys II takes the Iron Throne. Aerys comes to be known as the "Mad King" because of his increasingly violent and erratic behavior. Robert Baratheon, a Northern nobleman, rises up against the Targaryens in what is known as Robert's Rebellion.
The Baratheon Rule
The Northern great Houses, along with the Lannisters (who arrive a bit late to the rebellion party), defeat Aerys II and kill his son and heir, Rhaegar. Aerys's remaining children, Viserys and Daenerys, are smuggled out of Westeros for safekeeping while Robert takes the throne and marries Cersei Lannister in a North-South Westeros alliance.
Unfortunately, Cersei never bears Robert a true heir because all of her children are sired by her twin brother, Jaime. So when Robert is killed in a boar hunt, there is much debate as to who should take the Iron Throne.
The War of the Five Kings
As Robert's eldest "son," Joffrey Baratheon is crowned king upon his father's death, but several people suspect that Joffrey and his siblings Myrcella and Tommen are not Baratheons, so both Robert's brothers, Stannis and Renly, throw their hats in the ring to rule the Seven Kingdoms. Robb Stark (as the King in the North) and Balon Greyjoy (as King of the Iron Islands) also enter the fray.
During this time, Joffrey remains on the throne as, one by one, all of his challengers are killed. Well, Balon Greyjoy isn't killed until after Joffrey dies at his own wedding, but the Greyjoys were never a serious threat to the Iron Throne anyway.
The Lannister Rule
Upon Joffrey's death, his younger brother Tommen is crowned king, and by this point, most people are hip to the fact that Tommen is not a Baratheon. The Lannisters are the family truly in charge now, with first Tywin and then Cersei pulling the strings.
When Cersei blows up the Great Sept of Baelor in order to take out the Tyrell family, King Tommen commits suicide upon learning of the death of Queen Margaery, for whom he had great affection. And even though she does grieve for her children, Cersei assumes the role she has always wanted - Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
Now Cersei will do whatever she can to hold on to the Iron Throne, including promising to help fight the Army of the Dead, which is actually a lie as she wants to remain in King's Landing and wait it out, letting her forces fight whatever is left after Daenerys and Jon's armies defeat the Night King.
The only question is, can they defeat the Night King? Will Cersei have to jump into the fray at some point to protect what little power she has left?
And what of the fact that we now know there's someone with an even greater claim to the Iron Throne than either Cersei or Daenerys? Jon Snow is the legitimate son of Rhaegar Targaryen, which puts him above Rhaegar's sister Daenerys in the line of succession.
Attention: Jenny From the Block Is Back and Better in J Lo's New Music Video
Well, hello there, Jenny from the block. We've missed you! Jennifer's alter ego from her 2002 album This Is Me... Then is back for the music video for "Amor, Amor, Amor" featuring Wisin and filmed in her hometown.
Jennifer herself gave us a preview of her look on Instagram, featuring a severe high ponytail, large gold hoops, a fur coat over a Guess crop top (is there anything more early 2000s?), cropped leather pants and lace-up high heel boots. It's like we jumped in a time machine and were sent back to the better days of music. We should have known we can always count on Jennifer to give us just what we need.
The song, a catchy tune J Lo previewed earlier this year, is sure to be a banger, and from this behind the scenes look, the video will be as epic as the one for "Ni Tu, Ni Yo."
Chip Gaines's Ex-Girlfriend and 3 Other Things You'll Find in the Fall Magnolia Journal
Magnolia Journal, the quarterly magazine put out by Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines, has been highly anticipated since it launched last year. For the Fall 2017 issue, which marks its first anniversary, the couple have pulled out all the stops, from appearing in an adorable pottery wheel cover that evokes the movie Ghost to very personal anecdotes we've never heard before. And, of course, living tips, seasonal recipes, and design advice abound.
Here are four things you can expect to find inside this issue.
- Joanna reflecting on the first anniversary of the magazine, which she describes as one of her favorite parts of her work. "I treasure this magazine and the opportunity that it affords me to share my heart, dive into topics that have piqued my interest for years, and, best of all, connect with you, the reader."
- A theme of gratitude, fitting for the season. Joanna summarizes her personal philosophy, stating, "The trick is practicing a kind of thankfulness that isn't based on time or place or circumstance. Even in the trials or the mundane aspects of life, if we have eyes to see them, we can find good things everywhere we look."
- Personal stories to help you expand your perspective. This will include inspiring essays on everything from being a lifelong learner to inviting friends to share a meal.
- A very personal story from Chip about his ex-girlfriend is included in the "Chip's Corner" feature. In it, Chip gets candid as he discusses where he went wrong and why he's ultimately glad he did.

8 Ways William and Harry Are Keeping Princess Diana's Legacy Alive
Prince William and Prince Harry were 15 and 12, respectively, when Princess Diana died in August 1997. Nearly 20 years later, William and Harry have done a lot growing up and soul-searching, and have made it their mission to keep their mother's legacy alive, beginning with their charity work. Both William and Harry have championed some of the same charities as their mother and attribute their philanthropic nature to her. "I never realized quite how much of an impact she had. I applaud her for all her dedication and drive, and I think the infectious enthusiasm and all the energy she had really rubbed off on me for causes," William said in a 2016 interview. Here are all the ways William and Harry have carried on Diana's legacy for helping others.
North Face Subtly Disses Trump's Border Wall Idea With a New Rock Climbing Campaign
It looks like President Donald Trump can add one more thing to his list of stuff to be sad and mad about. Trump, who's been trolled by both Reebok and Smirnoff, is now being subtly dissed by North Face. Unlike the other two companies, which responded to a current event, North Face has launched an entire campaign centered around the idea "Walls Are Meant For Climbing." The campaign carries the tagline: "Some people build walls. Other people climb them. We're doing both." The messaging appears to reframe Trump's narrative by focusing on how walls can bring people together, while subtly criticizing Trump's call to build a wall on the Mexico-US border.
The campaign, which launched on Aug. 15, included a global day of climbing on Aug. 19. The company promised to donate $5 to nonprofit organization Paradox Sports for every person who walked into a gym participating in the event. North Face is also donating $1 million to The Trust For Public Land to bring more public climbing walls to "underserved areas."
In a tweet, North Face summed up its mission for the new campaign. "We've spent 50 years searching for walls to climb because, to use, they offer both challenge and opportunity and they fan the flames of our curiosity. Climbing has taught us to trust, to work together, to create safety in partnership and meaning out of hardship. We see walls as a place to unite our community, so we're building walls that reflect the world we want to see."

25 September Beauty Launches We Already Love - and You Should, Too!
September is basically Jan. 1 for beauty-lovers. We use the new "school year" as a time to reset, dye our blond locks back to brunette, book facials to rejuvenate our sun-kissed skin, and buy lots of swag! Here, our editorial team has combed through the hottest Fall launches to pick out the heroes. We've already been loving and using them, and we hope you do, too. Read on!
This Nude Lip Gloss Was Made For Women of Color - and It's Finally Available!
When you hear the term "lip gloss," what comes to mind? Chances are it's the image of a shiny, bubblegum-pink product that always manages to trap your hair in a cobweb-like mess (or Lil Mama's epic 2007 jam dedicated solely to her "poppin'" lip gloss). The notoriously sticky lip product may not be part of your daily makeup routine, but Mented Cosmetics is about to change that.
Mented (short for pigmented) is a rapidly growing brand that makes beauty products specifically crafted with the needs of deep-skinned women in mind. Founded by two women of color, Harvard Business School grads KJ Miller and Amanda E. Johnson, Mented has already released a gorgeous collection of nude lipsticks and nail polishes, but its latest foray into the makeup world features a handful of neutral-toned lip glosses we can't wait to test out ASAP.
The Gloss For Grown-Ups collection includes four warm, Fall-approved shades - Mauve Over, Send Nudes, Berry Me, and Baby Brown - each of which is ideal for professional women looking for a shiny yet work-appropriate lip gloss to sport in the office every day.
In a press release about the collection, cofounder Johnson explained how it will fill a void in the makeup scene for WOC. "I was a hardcore lip gloss fan, but could never really find the right shade or formula," she said. "Everything was either too sticky, too shiny, too frosty, or too sheer and didn't compliment my skin tone. I'm proud that we continue to expand the beauty options for women of color everywhere. Now, we too can be gloss girls with the shades and formulas we deserve."
The nude glosses are now available on MentedCosmetics.com for $15 each or $50 for the whole collection. Read on to see (and shop!) both the lip glosses and what they look like after application.
9 Employee Secrets Straight From a Haunted House Scare Performer
One time, I almost hit a clown in the face at a haunted house. It was a knee-jerk reaction (I guess we know where I stand on the "fight or flight spectrum"), but luckily I didn't actually sock him. Still, I've always wondered just how many close calls haunted house employees actually have. Their jobs are to scare people, which can result in some pretty hilarious (and potentially dangerous) interactions with those who brave the halls of a horror house. An actor in a haunted house aka a "scare performer" did an AMA on Reddit and revealed some of the most interesting secrets of the job. Sounds like working at a horror house can be as frightening as making your way through one!
1. How many times did you startle someone and get punched/almost get punched?
"So my section involved a flickering light so what I usually did was stay idle for a moment, then when they were off, I would pounce at them so I would reappear in front of them. Startled many, many people with that method, including making two faint! This of course led to an awful lot of reflex punches. Luckily the mask cushioned most of it!"
2. Were there any instances where you will "hold back" if you see someone who might be more vulnerable to a real scare?
"I didn't see as many as my act was second from the end, and people who couldn't handle it would usually be escorted out sometime during it. We did have this clown though that actually acted as a guide for people who wanted to get through it to the end, so he would accompany those who were scared and he would bop us on the head with his hammer to let us know they were coming so we would go easy on them!"
3. Have you ever scared someone so badly they got sick or hit you?
"I actually counted! Over the one month I made two people faint, three people wet themselves, 11 I scared enough to make them run into each other or a prop and hurt themselves (not badly), and countless times have I been attacked. I was lucky enough to be in full costume which acted like armour but some of the poor actors had little to nothing to help them. There were guests who would come in and just attack the actors for their own amusement, and then blame it on 'being scared' but you could easily tell who was scared and who just wanted to hit people."
4. What sort of training did you have to go through before you were given the role?
"What they did at first was give me one costume, give me a room, and see what I was like in there improvising. I went through about four rooms before they found the perfect role for me! We had a couple of vocal training lessons on how to scream without losing your voice and how to do weird movements with your body. We were then trained on how to get out as fast as you can in the event of a fire or someone who's attacking you, and that was about it!"
5. What's the craziest/funniest/weirdest story you have from working there?
"I think the craziest/funniest moment was when I scared a young teenage girl to which she fainted, and when someone faints you have to get security. Only problem for me was getting to them, as the closest security member to my section was through a secret door leading to the first room/entrance, and we were not allowed to break character. So meanwhile on the other side of that door, there was a couple who were so terrified that they couldn't get passed the first scare (it was just a creepy hotel manager asking them if they knew what room they were in). Then, all of a sudden, the wall opens up beside them and I, a deformed bird man, comes out squawking like crazy! The couple turned and ran out the door, giving me time to get the fainted girl out of there!"
6. Did you ever see anything actually creepy to you, whether it was intentional or not?
"About halfway through the month, about three people quit because they were convinced that by pretended to speak Latin in a fake sacrifice, they ended up summoning a demon! I took little notice of it but for the rest of the time working there, I did keep seeing silhouettes of people and kept feeling things brush by me!"
7. Did you ever have to go and speak to people because they were panicking or terrified?
"There were a few people who went into panic mode but like I said in another answer, we weren't allowed to break character, so the best thing to do would be to go around them and scare them out of the room!"
8. What was your favorite reaction to the house?
"My favorite reaction would probably be when a group of young lads sending one guy who was clearly terrified in front while they laughed from behind. When my light flickered, I went around the front guy, and scared the the others, making one fall to the floor, and another wet himself!"
9. Do some people get scared easier than others? Age? Gender? Level of Intoxication?
"The majority of the scares would have been young-to-middle-age girls, while the guys usually laugh at them getting terrified. You did often see lads who go in trying to taunt the actors to show off how cool they are to their friends, so it's extra special when you scare them! In terms of intoxication, they're either drunk enough to get scared easily, or drunk enough to want to fight you."

Here's Exactly What Was in the Letter Jon Snow Wrote Sansa That Made Her So Mad
Sansa Stark and Jon Snow's relationship hasn't exactly been as strong as we would have hoped lately on Game of Thrones. While Jon has been off securing dragonglass weapons to fight the White Walkers and nearly dying at the skeletal hands of thousands of wights (and oh, yes, getting it on with his aunt), Sansa has been struggling to keep the North together.
Fortunately with Bran and Arya by her side, she's able to eliminate the manipulations of Littlefinger in the season seven finale and emerge stronger from the whole situation. Before that, though, she gets a letter from Jon that gives her pause, and she vents her frustrations to the still-alive Petyr Baelish. She reveals that Jon has pledged the North's allegiance to Dany, but now we know exactly what the letter said thanks to HBO's behind-the-scenes website for the show, Making Game of Thrones.
In all its glory, it reads:
"Sansa,
Cersei Lannister has pledged her forces to our cause, as has Daenerys Targaryen. If we survive this war, I have pledged our forces to Daenerys as the rightful Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. We are both coming to organise the defence of the realm.
Jon Snow, Warden of the North"
Although seeing the letter isn't an earth-shattering revelation, it's nice to see how Jon chose to let Sansa know about developments in King's Landing (even if she's unhappy about it).

Elton John Singing "Candle in the Wind" at Diana's Funeral Will Always Break Our Hearts
It's been 20 years since Princess Diana tragically passed away in a car accident in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997, and it seems as though the world will never stop grieving for the princess it lost too soon. One of Diana's closest friends, Elton John, paid tribute to her in an extraspecial way all those years ago when he sang "Candle in the Wind" at her funeral.
The singer, who also shared a touching photo of himself and Diana on Thursday in honor of the anniversary, sang the heartbreaking and beautiful song in front of the 2,000 guests at her funeral at Westminster Abbey in London on Sept. 6, 1997. Elton originally wrote the song in 1973 as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe, who had died 11 years earlier, but he changed the lyrics to reflect the life of Princess Diana after her death. He has said over the years that he refuses to perform the song again unless specifically requested by Diana's sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
