Exhausted Mom of 3 Needs All Moms to Know They're "Perfect" - However They Parent

Leslie Means is a mom of three who knows a thing or two about being exhausted while fielding unsolicited parenting voice from literally everyone she knows (and doesn't know). Because she's totally aware of how it feels as a mom to wonder if you're doing a good enough job raising your children, Leslie penned a heartfelt message to other exhausted parents to let them know that whatever they're doing is, quite frankly, perfect.

"Dear sweet exhausted Mama, I NEED you to hear me. I NEED you to understand something," Leslie started in a post to her blog's Facebook page, Her View From Home. "Whatever you are doing for that precious baby is exactly right. Do you understand me? What YOU ARE DOING IS RIGHT."

She continued, asking other moms to promise her that they won't let the advice of their parents, friends, siblings, neighbors - or anyone, for that matter - affect how they parent their baby. Attached to the letter, Leslie featured a photo of her pumped breast milk and explained that there's more milk in the right bottle than the left because she's always produced less on her left side. Because of that, she's had to supplement all three of her kids' diets with formula. She says her youngest, a 5-month-old son, is doing great, as are his older sisters, and as is Leslie herself, who drank "powdered milk" when she was a baby in 1981. She wrote:

I share this with you because I want you to believe in yourself. I WANT you to know that what you're doing is perfectly right. Listen. You love your baby, right? You're doing everything in your power to give him/her the best possible life, aren't you? Great. Then you're perfect. Do you hear me? Do you REALLY hear me? Mama – YOU ARE PERFECT.

Even if you . . .

Bottle-feed
Breastfeed
Homeschool your babies
Send your kids to public school
Let your kid get a phone at age 7
Make your kid wait until he/she is 13 for a phone, or make-up, or earrings, or to play sports
Let your kid eat Cheetos every day . . .

I think you get it.

Before signing off her letter as "a tired mama of three, just doing her best to love her babies," Leslie left her readers with an important parting statement: "Don't listen to what everyone else has to say. Listen to your instincts. God gave them to mothers for a reason. Trust in that. Believe in that. And know that you are raising your babies perfectly."

If You Love Being Terrified, We Have Good News: There Will Definitely Be an It Sequel

It, the highly anticipated silver-screen remake of Stephen King's truly terrifying story, doesn't hit theaters until Sept. 8, but we're already soaking up details about the horror film's sequel. The good news? A second installment of the story is definitely happening. The bad news? It might take a while for us to see part two in theaters.

Like King's 1986 horror novel, It will be split in two, following two timelines from the late 1950s and the mid-1980s. The earlier story recounts a memorable Summer for the young members of the "Losers Club" - a group of preteen misfits who come together to defeat an evil entity that takes the form of Pennywise the Clown, also known as the titular It, lurking in their town - and the second follows the gang as adults, when they must return to their old stomping grounds for a final, brutal showdown. The first film, It, is focused solely on the Losers Club's younger years, so how will the sequel shake out?

In an interview with Yahoo Movies, director Andy Muschietti revealed that the sequel will explore the cosmic dimension introduced in King's book and take place in 1989. "I really wanted to focus on the emotional journey of the group of kids," Muschietti said. "Getting in to that other dimension - the other side - was something that we could introduce in [the sequel] . . . In the book, the perspective of the writing is always with the Losers [Club], so everything they know about Pennywise is very speculative and shrouded in absurdity, so I wanted to respect that mystery feeling of not knowing what's on the other side."

Since diving into the cosmic dimension will be heavy on CGI (and therefore on the studio's budget, as well), Muschietti explained his choice to save it for part two. "I wanted to leave something for the second half, so I didn't want to get in trouble with that - going into the macroverse or that transdimensional stuff - and keep it grounded, from the point of view of the kids. There's another movie to expand into that," he said. "Also, there's a physical truth that it's a movie that has a budget. And I didn't want to get into a depiction of a realm that fucks up our budget, the creation of a world that will basically suck up half of our budget, and would have to sacrifice a lot of things."

Unfortunately, an official date for the sequel is still TBD. With part one of It arriving in theaters in September, though, we can probably expect the second installment to drop in 2019. In the meantime, there are plenty of other horror movies for you to obsess over!

Hilary Duff Says Goodbye to Summer With a Scorching-Hot Bikini Outing

Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end to Summer, and Hilary Duff decided to go out with a bang. The Younger actress showed off her insanely toned body while hitting the beach in Malibu on Monday. Hilary, who rocked a black bikini, soaked up the rays as she relaxed with her son, Luca, and ex-husband, Mike Comrie. In addition to taking a walk in the water, the star played a little game of football in the sand. The outing is just the latest time this Summer that Hilary has wrecked us with her perfect curves. The actress, who frequently vacations in Hawaii, most recently jetted to the tropical island in August.

Can We Discuss How Terrifying the Halloween Episode of Boy Meets World Is?

We all remember key moments in our childhood - big birthdays, first crushes, Summer vacations - but one thing that continuously stands out in my mind as a defining moment is the Scream-inspired episode of Boy Meets World, "And Then There Was Shawn." It first aired in February 1998 and wasn't even intended as a Halloween episode, but I didn't see it until one chilly Fall day in 2001. I had just gotten home from school, was all by myself, and was planning on doing my homework while watching the Disney Channel. But shortly after the episode began to play, I abandoned my homework and started closing all the curtains and locking all the doors. The storyline of a crazed psycho going on a killing spree in an abandoned school not only kept me up at night for weeks to come, but it also made me fear one of the places I always felt safe. I loved (and still love) the episode, but the combination of the intense horror music, the jump-out-of-your seat moments, and the creepy janitor will probably haunt my dreams for a very long time.

10 American Horror Story Actors Who Desperately Need to Come Back to the Show

Because it's an anthology series, American Horror Story can have so much fun with its cast and seasons. Creator Ryan Murphy tends to use the same handful of actors in each season, but there are a few great actors who are only mysteriously used for one season or so. Though there have been plenty of memorable cameos, there are lots of past American Horror Story actors we want to see back. There's always a chance that one of these faces could pop up in the Cult cast, as Murphy is fond of doing, so we're hoping that by putting this out into the world, maybe one of these stars will come back (to Cult or to a season beyond this one).

Ina Garten Swears by This 6-Ingredient Salad

Shocker: I'm in love with another recipe by Ina Garten, aka The Barefoot Contessa. This time, it's her sweet and salty, crispy and creamy Cape Cod Chopped Salad, which just so happens to have a five-star rating. Before you turn away at the thought of eating greens, hear me out. It's full of tart apples, dried cranberries, toasted walnuts, blue cheese, and, oh yes, crispy bacon. Perfect for lunch or as an accompaniment to another one of her all-American recipes, like spicy tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons, this arugula salad is so good, you'll forget kale ever existed. The dish is packed with tasty contrasts. The flavors and textures work together to create a salad that definitely isn't healthy but certainly is delicious. Plus, you get to throw the ingredients together as the smell of browning bacon wafts through your kitchen. The elements are brought together by a simple dressing that's absolutely worth making from scratch - after all, wouldn't you do anything to eat a salad that doesn't qualify as a sad desk lunch?

Prince Harry Celebrates the Royal Baby News by Bonding With Children in Manchester

Prince Harry is going to be an uncle again, and he couldn't be more excited about it! While visiting Manchester, England, on Monday, the royal spoke briefly about the news that his brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law Kate Middleton are expecting their third child. Harry couldn't help but grin and give a thumbs up to a reporter who asked about the news, saying, "Fantastic. Great. Very, very happy for them."

Even though Kate is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, the severe nausea and vomiting she also experienced when she was pregnant with both Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Harry added that he thinks she's doing OK. Aside from beaming over the baby news, the royal put his fun uncle skills to the test as he bonded with children during his tour of Walking With the Wounded and stopped by a training session at the Manchester City Football Club for a little game of soccer.

Everything in the Gorgeous, Inclusive ASOS Face + Body Collection Is Under $15

Chances are you've turned to the popular British online store ASOS for its trendy, affordable, and uniquely British clothing. The brand has always sold makeup made by other labels, but with the new launch of ASOS Face + Body, that's all about to change. Come Sept. 20, you can finally do your whole face courtesy of ASOS. Even better, the products are all under $15, gender-neutral, and absolutely fabulous.

The line consists of 23 new products, all made to help you stand out. So, don't come to ASOS Face + Body for foundation or concealer - a rep for the brand told POPSUGAR that the brand didn't want to debut with any products that would cover up your natural beauty. Richie Shazam, Jazelle, and Chen Liu all star in ASOS Face + Body's campaign art, which shows that this versatile collection looks amazing on downright everyone. The theme for its first release is "Go play," and it's hard not to do just that when you see the collection's whimsical shades.

We've fallen in love with "Vigilant," a metallic navy liquid eyeliner that's caused more excitement around the POPSUGAR Beauty office than the new royal baby. We also learned that this particular shade lasted one ASOS rep through Lady Gaga's NYC concert, which was held during a total downpour. Hear that? This stuff's long-lasting.

Again, this collection drops Sept. 20, with additional products launching in January 2018. For now, you can hold yourself over by reading on for every single product in this brilliant launch.

How The Walking Dead's Andrew Lincoln Played a Part in Princess Diana's Funeral

Princess Diana's public funeral took place on Sept. 6, 1997, and drew an outpouring of love from people around the globe. The event is one of the most watched in history with over 2.5 billion people tuning in worldwide, and the procession through the streets of London brought out another 3 million grieving locals. One of them was actor Andrew Lincoln, who played an integral part in the funeral cortege. Andrew, now best-known for his roles in Love Actually and on The Walking Dead, was an alum of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, one of the charities of which Princess Diana was a patron. At her funeral, 500 representatives of various charities that Diana had been involved with were chosen to walk behind her coffin at St. James Palace, joining Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince Charles, Prince Philip, and Earl Spencer, Diana's brother.

Andrew opened up about the "strange day" in a 2008 Metro interview. "I was asked because I am a RADA graduate and all the organizations Princess Diana was a patron of were represented," he said, adding, "We had to walk behind the gun carriage that carried her body. I just kept my head down . . . it was a very bizarre experience." He went on to praise Harry and William for their composure during the event: "I was in awe of the princes. Losing a parent and then having to grieve publicly is extraordinary."

This Mom's Plea to "Be Kind" to Her Son With Autism Will Warm Your Heart

Cara Thulin, a mom from Missouri, had a straightforward message to her son's school: "This boy is in your ranks now. And I need you all to help me."

Thulin posted a note on Facebook to the teachers at her son's high school explaining that while Zeke Gibson, her son who has autism, might have have had a different experience growing up compared to other children, he's still just a kid. She wrote:

His brain grew up differently than a lot of ours. It grew up focusing on protecting Zeke from being overwhelmed by sounds, and light, textures, and smells. His senses are stronger than ours. And so while we were growing and paying attention to other babies, and learning how to behave and react, he was paying attention to the way sun hit his moms earrings, or how loud the dog was . . . and he missed out on all that social training we didn't even realize we were getting.

His mom also said that even if Zeke doesn't give you the most direct response, he still understands and appreciates when people take the time to talk to him throughout his day. "If you see this kid, say 'Hi Zeke!' and don't get offended if he doesn't respond," Thulin said. "He heard you. And he feels a little more confident now that someone knows his name."

Thulin also gave some of her Facebook followers a talking point that's sure to pique Zeke's interest. "Ask if he's doing okay, if he likes class, or if he has any questions," she wrote. "Compliment his band t-shirts. He LOVES Panic! At the Disco."

She also explained how challenging it is to parent a child with a disability that's often invisible to others. "I've always said to myself that if Zeke could just wear a sign that said, 'I'm autistic, give me a break,' he'd have a better chance at life," she told POPSUGAR. "But of course, we can't do that to our kids. When you say 'autism,' it isn't fully understood by most people."

Thulin signed off by saying while she's confident Zeke will navigate high school just fine, other parents should encourage their children to be nice, too. "I am raising a very VERY strong kid. Please do me a favor and raise very kind kids in return."

Lauren Jauregui Speaks Out Against Trump's DACA Decision: "You Disgust Me"

On Sept. 5, Donald Trump's administration announced his decision to terminate Barack Obama's Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals program. DACA, as it's commonly called, currently protects an estimated 800,000 individuals who immigrated to the United States as children.

Following the news over Labor Day weekend that the announcement was on its way, Fifth Harmony's Lauren Jauregui shared her thoughts on Twitter. In a tweet addressed to the president, the Cuban-American singer defended DACA and mentioned the recent pardoning of Sheriff Joe Arpaio. "It's incredible to me that you'll pardon a man who is known for running his prison as a Latino concentration camp and call him a patriot, but then deport kids with a dream to be successful citizens with safe lives." Read her note in its entirety, below.

Jauregui has repeatedly proven herself to be both politically engaged and outspoken. Following the 2016 Election, she penned an open letter to Donald Trump's supporters that was widely shared. In that letter, she passionately defended Latinx rights and came out as bisexual.

In anticipation of the administration's announcement, a powerful letter in support of DACA began circulating. The letter is backed by 2,000 politicans, civic leaders, and faith leaders. The letter reads, "Ending DACA means all of these young people would be at risk of deportation and separation from their families and our communities; this would be senselessly cruel."

It's assembly only and comes equipped with all the gingerbread, icing, candies, sprinkles, gummies, and more you need to create a picturesque, completely edible Candyland-themed house. The 1 Thing I Always Pack to Ease My Anxiety While Traveling - Besides Xanax

Even if you don't normally suffer from anxiety, depression, or panic attacks, traveling can bring about lots of situations that test your patience and stress levels. Because of this, I always make sure to pack a travel candle, no matter where I'm going or whether it's for work or for fun. I actually keep one, along with a pack of matches, in my luggage at all times so that I don't forget. After a long day of meetings, socializing, or sightseeing, lighting a candle can almost instantly calm you down and make you feel more at home, which is ideal when you're living out of a hotel while on a business trip or shacking up in an Airbnb during an international getaway.

As great as candles are when you're in your home, they can also be such a huge help for easing stress, anxiety, and homesickness while you're away from your home. And even if you forget to pack one, there are tons of opportunities to pick one up, either at the airport or by popping into a shop in whichever city you're in (I usually try to snap up a new one that is made by local artisans or has a scent specific to the place I'm visiting). See and shop a few of my favorites below!

7 Infamous Cults That Are Creepy as F*ck

I'll just start by saying that I'm obsessed with cults. Why am I obsessed with cults, you ask? Gosh, I wish I had an answer for you - they've just always fascinated me for some reason, maybe because I can't picture myself giving up everything I have to follow someone blindly. (Except for maybe Beyoncé; is the BeyHive a cult?) With the terrifying new season of American Horror Story: Cult upon us, I couldn't help but think about the famous real-life cults that have both intrigued and scared the sh*t out of me over the years. From the ones you probably know, like the Manson Family, to the ones you may not, here are seven sects that are crazy, dangerous, and creepy as f*ck.

Princess Diana's Precious Childhood Photos Will Put a Huge Smile on Your Face

Princess Diana was born on July 1, 1961. Though she came from a family of British nobility with royal ancestry, her upbringing wasn't exactly an easy one. Diana's parents divorced when she was 7, and her mom left her and her three siblings with their father, who remarried without telling them. As a young girl, she lived at Park House on the royal family's Sandringham estate, and in 1975, she became Lady Diana Spencer after her father inherited the title of Lord Spencer and moved the family to Althorp, the Spencer estate in Northampton, England. From there, she was shipped off to boarding schools, where she became insecure, unstable, and withdrawn.

Long before she met and married Prince Charles and became the Princess of Wales, Diana was a bright child who, despite not being that great of a student, excelled in the arts, including ballet and piano. She loved animals and owned a handful of pets, including a pony and a guinea pig. After her tragic death in August 1997, Diana was returned to the place she grew up and is now buried at the family estate in Althorp. We've rounded up the sweetest photos from Diana's childhood - keep reading to see the little girl who would one day grow up to be the People's Princess.

Dancing With the Stars: Here's Who Is Joining the Season 25 Cast

Not only is a 98 Degrees boy-band member joining the cast, but one of your favorite sitcom stars will be hitting the ballroom floor as well. While ABC doesn't officially reveal the full lineup until Sept. 6, see who has reportedly joined the cast ahead.

I Fit a Lot of Latina Stereotypes - and That's OK

Stereotypes lump diverse groups of people together - erasing their individuality and humanity - and set them up for the daily drudge of challenging biases. They are tired, effed up, painful, and restricting, so what happens when you actually fulfill them?

I'm Latina, and I meet many of the hackneyed ideas that have been placed on that identity. Physically, I'm a short, light-skinned girl with plump breasts, a round derrière, and straight brown hair falling down my back. I like to wear form-fitting clothes that hug my curves and reveal some skin. I can be caught daily in gold hoops or doorknockers, with a nameplate necklace and ring, and multiple bangles on each arm. Since middle school, I've sported long acrylic nails and dope kicks. I'm fluent in Spanglish, and I call the men I date "papi" and refer to my homegirls as "mamis." My hobbies really do consist of cooking (I can whip up a mean arroz con habichuelas) and listening and dancing to reggaetón, Latin trap, hip-hop, salsa, merengue, and bachata. Selena Quintanilla is one of my favorite singers, and I consider Big Pun to be one of the best rappers of all time. As for sports, baseball and boxing are among my top three faves. My father really is overprotective, and he and my mother are very religious. When I was in college - I'm also a first-generation graduate, by the way - one of my multiple jobs was as a housekeeper.

As someone who publicly writes and speaks about the danger of stereotypes and why we must challenge them, I was surprised to discover just how many of them I subscribe to in my own life. Negative stereotypes about my community, from being criminal to ignorant, hinder many of us from reaching our full potential, while so-called positive stereotypes, like being curvaceous sexpots, can make some of us feel inadequate for not living up to the ideal. "Does fitting, and often embracing, these stereotypical aspects of myself make me problematic?" I pondered. "Am I part of the problem?" I asked myself. If stereotypes are bad, and I'm checking most of them off, then something has got to be messed up.

After some self-reflection and deep conversations about identity with friends, I realized that, despite my immediate discomfort, there's actually nothing wrong with my living up to many myths about my community, even if those conventional ideas need to be debunked.

Stereotypes aren't inherently wrong. It's not bad to be sexy or passionate. Place these attributes on a white woman and no one will bat an eye. The problem comes when these ideas, which are oftentimes forced on marginalized people to "exotify" or criminalize them, become widely believed conceptions that institutionally hold them back or make them feel inferior for satisfying or not satisfying them.

By filling some cultural Latina stereotypes, I'm simultaneously being true to myself and reclaiming a narrative that was placed on me with ill intent. I'm not conforming to Western ideas of respectability. Instead, I'm showing up to corporate meetings as my whole self, sporting my Big Pun laptop bag, bamboo earrings, and tight, low-rise blouse along with my bicultural, Spanglish brilliance. By doing so, I'm allowing myself to be as comfortable as I can be in spaces that were not created for people like me, and I'm forcing people who are accustomed to rule and order to be uneasy, even if just for a moment . . . and both are powerful.

As someone who also meets many physical Latina stereotypes - particularly my light skin, European phenotypes, straight hair, and curvy, small physique - I'm given unearned privileges that many of my other Latina sisters, especially those who are of more African or indigenous descent than I am or whose body shape does not fit popularly held ideas of "beautiful" or "sexy," don't have. As such, it's my responsibility to use the influence, as limited as it may be, that I have to challenge harmful stereotypes that don't impact me directly and to uplift the stories and voices that I can't speak to personally. By doing so, I can help ensure that my singular Latina experience, the one that is almost always focused on, isn't the only one that is underlined or centered.

So, yes, I fit several Latina stereotypes, but I own them all. Some, like my language and style of dress, are weapons that allow me to survive in a racist, classist, and sexist society. Others, like the color of my skin and the texture of my hair, permit me to influence others to question and resist these ideas, to understand that these conventions that ring true for me don't for all of us.

8 Essential Things Dreamers Need to Know Now That DACA Has Been Rescinded

On Sept. 5, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Trump Administration was rescinding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. While next steps will be made more clear over the coming days and weeks, starting now it's essential that every individual affected by the decision knows their right. The Immigrant Legal Resource Center has put together an incredibly helpful advisory - available in English, Spanish, and Chinese on the ILRC website - and we've pulled out the key points below.

1. Work Permits

Employment Authorization Documents (EADs), also known as work permits, are generally valid until they expire or the government demands they be returned. Unless the government demands that you return your work permit, the following points should apply.

  • If the DACA program ends but you are allowed to keep your work permit, you have the right to work legally until your work permit's expiration date.
  • Even if the DACA program ends, you have no obligation to inform your employer that DACA has ended. Your employer does not have the right to ask you whether you are a DACA recipient or how you got your work permit.
  • Your employer does not have the right to fire you, put you on leave, or change your work status until after your work permit has expired. If your expiration date is nearing, your employer may ask you for an updated work permit but cannot take any action against you until after it is expired.

2. Social Security Numbers (SSNs)

Your SSN is a valid SSN number for life, even once your work permit and DACA approval expires.

  • If you have not done so already, apply for a SSN while your DACA and work permit are still valid.
  • You can and should continue to use the SSN you got under DACA as your SSN even after your work permit expires. You can use your SSN for education, banking, housing and other purposes.
  • Your SSN contains a condition on it that requires a valid work permit to use it for employment purposes.

III. Driver's Licenses and Other Identification Cards

Eligibility for these depends on the state in which you live. If you have not already done so, apply for a driver's license or state identification card if your DACA is still valid and that makes you eligible for a driver's license or state-issued identification card in your state.

IV. Travel on Advance Parole

DACA recipients should be cautious about travel abroad on advance parole.

  • If you are outside the country with advance parole, make sure to return right away and while your advance parole and EAD are valid. If the DACA program ends, it is not clear that people with advance parole based on DACA will be able to return. The safest route is to return as soon as possible, before an announcement ending DACA.
  • If you have been granted advance parole under DACA but have not yet left the United States, or are interested in applying for advance parole, speak with an attorney to determine potential risks before doing anything.

V. Other Immigration Options

Many DACA recipients may be eligible for another immigration option to get a work permit or even a green card.

  • Avoid fraudulent service providers: confirm their credentials, ask for a written contract and a receipt for any payments, and if you have doubts, get a second opinion.

VI. Criminal Issues

Any criminal arrest, charge, or conviction can put you at risk with immigration authorities.

  • Avoid contact with law enforcement that may result in a criminal arrest. If you end up being arrested, make sure to consult an expert immigration attorney.
  • If you have a criminal conviction, find out if it can be changed to lessen the impact on a future immigration case you may have.

VII. Know Your Rights

Everyone – both documented and undocumented persons have rights in this country. At all times, carry a red card to exercise your right to remain silent in case you are stopped or questioned by ICE. You have constitutional rights

Print out your red card immediately here, and keep it with you at all times. The text of the card should read as follows:

  • DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR if an immigration agent is knocking on the door.

5 Things You Never Knew About Shake Shack, Straight From an Insider Employee

There's so much to love about Shake Shack, so we reached out to a representative of the company to learn insider tips about one of the best burger spots in the world. Curious about the most popular item and how the craziest concrete custard flavors come to be? We've got that - plus tips about the unexpected secret menu - ahead.

The taste-testing process for new concrete flavors is serious business.

If you've never had a concrete from Shake Shack, do yourself a favor and order one ASAP. It's a blend of the restaurant's signature frozen custard, which is really dense, and a number of mix-ins that vary by location, including cookie dough and banana bread. The creators behind the frozen desserts pay close attention to detail. "Our culinary director, Mark Rosati, immerses himself in our new communities and finds inspiration with local bakers, chocolatiers, pie makers - he then creates partnerships and taste tests mix-ins that reflect who we are and who our neighbors are."

The most popular order is the original ShackBurger.

The most frequently ordered item is "our classic ShackBurger, of course! A cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce." Another favorite of ours? The Chick'n Shack, Shake Shack's first-ever fried chicken sandwich that was launched in 2016 (hello, buttermilk herb mayo made with chives, parsley, and thyme).

There's a secret menu - with an item you'd never expect.

When we asked if there's a secret menu, the insider said, "Yup! The peanut butter burger is a secret fave, as is grilled cheese. Guests make up all sorts of combinations, like this," the SmokeShack with peanut butter. Would you try it?

The CEO has favorites.

If you've ever wondered what the go-to order is for the man in charge of Shake Shack, he's all about the changing menu items. "Our CEO, Randy Garutti, always wants to try our new limited-time offers like our BBQ-inspired menu when he visits a Shack. Peep his Instagram for all the deets."

There's a cookbook!

If you don't have a Shake Shack location near you, you might be excited about Shake Shack's debut cookbook so you can re-create the famous menu items at home. Available in May 2017, the book contains 70 recipes and 200 photographs of everything from the crinkle-cut fries to the frozen custard.

Here's Why the Price Tag at Orangetheory Fitness Is Worth Every Penny

If you think Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) studios seem to be popping up all over the place these days, you're not mistaken. The bright colors, enthusiastic community, and unique logo are probably enough to make you want to drop in, and you've likely already read a good review that has convinced you to give it a shot. But first things first: how much does OTF cost?

Class pricing varies by region, so it's worth giving your local studio a call to find out the exact cost of a membership or class. Your first class at any OTF is free; after that, the studio's packages start at $59 and can go up to about $200 for an unlimited plan. The average price for a drop-in class for nonmembers is $28, with a few select locations costing slightly higher than this. Each workout is taught by experienced coaches and features upbeat music and the latest equipment, as well as men's and women's locker rooms and showers. Classes can be booked in advance through an online portal.

Most of OTF's classes consist of 60-minute workouts broken into cardio and strength training. Each workout incorporates endurance, speed, and strength elements by using equipment such as treadmills, rowing machines, TRX suspension training, and free weights. According to the Orangetheory website, participants burn 500+ calories per workout.

All OTF workouts involve heart-rate monitors, which helps participants keep their heart rates in a target zone. This zone is said to help stimulate metabolism and increase energy levels, resulting in the "Orange Effect," which can lead to increased energy, toned muscles, and extra calorie burn for "up to 36 hours after the session." While you're wearing the heart-rate monitor, the instructor is able to see if you're hitting the appropriate target heart-rate zones. This heart rate-based training aspect is what truly sets OTF apart from other high-intensity interval workouts. It's worth noting, however, that the heart-rate monitor is an added cost: only OTF heart-rate monitors sync with its system (other monitors such as Fitbit or Apple Watch won't work), so visits will require the rental ($5) or purchase ($69) of your own OTF chest strap.

So if you seek a group studio workout combined with the motivation that comes with an individualized personal training session, OTF offers quite the bang for your buck.

What the F*ck Is Up With Different Types of Salt? Here's a Breakdown

Figuring out which kind of salt to use can be confusing. Kosher, table, flaky sea salt . . . what's up with all the different variations, and do they all do the same thing? The short answer is "no." The truth is that every salt has a different weight and salinity, so it's important to get to know the differences. If a recipe calls for a teaspoon of salt, the resulting dish could vary in saltiness depending on what type you're using. Ahead, get a breakdown of the three most common types of salts used for cooking and baking, and discover what makes them different (and which one you might want to avoid). If you've always wondered which one is best to keep stocked in your pantry, you'll say goodbye to any guessing games.

Kosher Salt

Kosher salt, which is made from salt crystals and is not usually iodized, is the go-to salt of cooks and chefs everywhere. It has coarse grains, which make it easy to pick up with your fingers and evenly distribute on food. Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt is said to be less salty than another popular brand, Morton Kosher Salt, and the space between the grains makes it less likely to oversalt. But no matter which brand you choose, kosher salt is great for seasoning meat, pasta water, and any foods, really, plus baking. It's pure salt with no additives, and it's the one you should always have stocked in your pantry.

Table Salt

On a recent trip to Sonoma, CA, where I shared a meal with the chef from Stonewall Kitchen, I learned an important difference between table salt and kosher salt. Table salt often contains dextrose, which is a sugar made from corn, and it's chemically identical to glucose. In other words, the salt isn't pure - natural salt already contains natural chemicals, but when it's processed into table salt, it likely also contains unwanted additives, such as dextrose and iodine. That's not the only difference you'll notice if you accidentally buy table salt instead of kosher, as I once did. The texture of table salt is super, super fine, and it tends to clump. For that reason, anticaking agents are often added to keep it from sticking together. Some people cook with table salt, but I've been told to avoid it and stick to kosher.

Sea Salt

As its name would suggest, sea salt is evaporated from the sea. Most chefs' go-to sea salt is La Baleine Fine Sea Salt for baking applications (the fine crystals melt and disperse flavor evenly in batters and doughs). Another favorite is Maldon Sea Salt, which has larger, pyramid-shaped flakes perfect for sprinkling on top of finished dishes, including desserts like chocolate chip cookies. Chefs like Hugh Acheson even use Maldon for sautéing vegetables to give them a slight crunchy texture as the salt crystals dissolve slower.

Here's What You Can Do to Help Victims of Hurricane Harvey

Harvey hit Texas as a Category 4 storm on Aug. 25, and while it's no longer a hurricane, the Gulf area will continue to feel the brunt of tropical-storm-force wind and rain through the rest of the week. While rescue operations are still ongoing throughout the area, relief and recovery efforts are already underway - and here's what you can do to help out those who need it most in the wake of such a catastrophic natural disaster.

How to donate to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey:

  • The American Red Cross is taking donations online at redcross.org, or you can call 1-800-RED-CROSS or text the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
  • Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and The Greater Houston Community Foundation set up a Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund that is collecting donations for flood victims.
  • Nonprofit organization All Hands has relief workers on the ground in Texas and is taking donations toward relief and recovery efforts here.
  • Crowdfunding site Global Giving has set up a relief fund to "provide relief to survivors in the form of emergency supplies like food, water, and medicine in addition to longer-term recovery assistance to help residents recover and rebuild."
  • Americares has set up a fund with proceeds going toward medical treatment and basic supplies for those who are in need.
  • New Orleans-based SBP plans to send Americorps members to help rebuild homes in the area, and you can donate to their efforts with a clear guide on what your funds will go toward helping here.
  • Porlight has set up a fund to help those with disabilities and elderly individuals who may require addition assistance due to medical equipment or accessibility.
  • The United Way launched a relief fund for storm-related needs, and you can choose the region that your donation will go toward helping here (or elect to send it to wherever it will do the most good).
  • Corpus Christi's Driscoll Children's Hospital has moved its patients for safety but will likely need additional funds to support the care of its nearly 200 patients. You can contact the hospital here.
  • The Texas Diaper Bank is currently taking donations to provide necessary supplies to the youngest individuals affected by Harvey.

If you're in Texas and want to help out on the ground:

Meet the 18 Survivors Competing For $1 Million on Season 35

Can you believe Survivor is on season 35?! The long-running reality TV show is returning with a new gang of cutthroat contestants on Sept. 27, and it looks like the competition is fierce. Season 35, which has the theme of Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers, is shipping everyone out to Fiji, so now's the time to start placing bets on who you think will outwit, outplay, and outlast everyone else.

Princess Diana Was the First Member of the British Royal Family to Have Done This

Princess Diana was known for many things during her lifetime - being a great mother to sons Prince Harry and Prince William, her amazing sense of style, and her beautiful smile - but ultimately, she is best remembered for her undying passion for helping others. Diana was a patron of more than 100 causes around the world, some of which Prince William and Prince Harry now champion.

One of the charities in question is the National AIDS Trust. The trust promotes the awareness of AIDS and helps prevent the spread of HIV, and in April 1987, Diana was invited to open the UK's first AIDS ward at Middlesex hospital. During her visit, Diana challenged the notion that HIV/AIDS was passed on by touch when she shook the hand of a dying AIDS patient without wearing gloves. Not only was it a brave and compassionate move, but it also marked the first time a member of the royal family had ever come in contact with a person with HIV or AIDS without wearing any protective gear. "HIV does not make people dangerous to know," Diana explained. "You can shake their hands and give them a hug. Heaven knows they need it."

In the years following, Diana continued to make regular hospital visits and she even brought her sons along with her. Gavin Hart of the National AIDS Trust later told BBC that Diana had done so much to remove the stigma of AIDS. "In our opinion, she was the foremost ambassador for AIDS awareness on the planet and no one can fill her shoes in terms of the work she did."

As a result of Diana's efforts, the cause has also become close to Harry's heart. After wrapping up his exams at Eton College in 2003, the prince took a gap year and traveled to Africa, where he worked with children affected with AIDS. In 2006, he set up his charity Sentebale to support orphans and children affected by the epidemic, and 10 years later, Harry challenged the HIV stigmas when he visited a local HIV clinic in London and got tested live on Facebook. "If you're a man, woman, gay, straight, black, white, whatever - even ginger - why wouldn't you come and have a test?" he said. While the results came out negative, the gesture only showed the strong impact Diana left on her children and all of those who knew her.

Jeff Goldblum Solidifies His DILF Status by Stepping Out With His 2 Sons in France

Jeff Goldblum is an incredibly sexy man when he's on his own, but when you throw his adorable family into the mix? Forget. About. It. The actor proved that his favorite role is family man when he stepped out with his wife, Emilie Livingston, and their two adorable sons, Charlie and River, at the Deauville American Film Festival in France on Sunday. While posing for photos in front of his dedicated beach locker room on the Promenade des Planches, Jeff was all smiles while holding and kissing baby River. Jeff and Emilie, who tied the knot in 2014, welcomed Charlie in July 2015 and River in April 2017. If this outing proves anything, it's that Jeff's "DILF" satus isn't going away anytime soon.

How to Stay Positive When Your Job Search Stalls

Isn't it unreal how many messages that aren't the one you're waiting for can hit your inbox in one day? When you're eager for follow-up about the bevy of résumés you've circulated, it's tortuous to hear that ping that promises news . . . only to find another meaningless message.

Waiting is hard. It's humbling. Whether you're in a job that no longer suits you or you're currently unemployed, the project of job searching can make you feel lost. Your livelihood is one of your life's anchors, and while job searching is rich with exciting prospects that can yield wonderful results, it's also a difficult process over which you have limited control.

And job searches stall. No matter how diligent you are in your efforts, there are times when you have to fight the feelings that you're invisible or unwanted. You're neither. You're a hot prospect doing the tough work of a seeker. So how does one power through those difficult days? Try these tactics next time you're feeling stalled and panicky.

Double check your approach

Check and see if it's within your control to get this stalled operation moving again. Review your materials to ensure that all your I's and T's are dotted and crossed.

Job searching is process. Commit yourself to being a student of the search, and refine your approach as you learn tips and tricks along the way. Then tag in a mentor or a friend whose professional opinion your trust. A second set of eyes and a bit of support can go a long way when you feel stuck.

Recognize that this is a mind game

This project probably feels urgent, high stakes, and time sensitive. Those are heavy feelings to lug around, so unpack that baggage by calling on your support system. Recognize that you're in a transitional time and take good care of yourself, inside and out.

Recognize, too, that job searching is hard is because it's a nonlinear project. It's not like cleaning a house or mowing a lawn; not all efforts yield gleaming results. Sometimes your work just bolsters the probability of a favorable outcome: the more résumés you send out, the greater the likelihood you will hear back about a couple. Another way it doesn't follow a standard sequence is that you can be so close to nabbing a great new gig, and then go back to square one all within a phone call. Your challenge is to emotionally weather that without losing your confidence.

So don't put your heart in the fire. Recognize that all of this - the scores of résumés that you never hear back about, the stalls, the rejections - says more about the nature of job searching than it says about you. This is just how it is. It can be tough. It can feel personal. Most pros have their job-search scars, and now you do, too.

Surrender to the search's pattern

While there's a lot that you can do to take charge of your job search, like combing job listings and hitting up your network for leads, you can't make your phone ring or your inbox pop. Interestingly, though, there seems to be a feast or famine rhythm that governs it. For some reason, it seems like you can go for weeks with no nibbles and then get two juicy leads in the same week. So try and stay poised and positive while you wait. Job searches have a funny way of coming around.

In the meantime, hold your head up high and be a proud seeker. The resilience and wherewithal you amass during this transitional period is a brilliant bedrock upon which to build your next professional adventure.

Meghan Markle Breaks Her Silence on Prince Harry Romance: "We're Happy and in Love"

Nearly a year after news of their relationship broke, Meghan Markle is opening up about Prince Harry for the first time in Vanity Fair's October issue. While their royal romance is constantly in the spotlight, the Suits actress explained that her relationship with Harry is actually quite simple. "We're two people who are really happy and in love," she told the magazine. "We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people's perception. Nothing about me changed. I'm still the same person that I am, and I've never defined myself by my relationship."

While it's obvious the two are very happy together, they have faced a few struggles along the way, particularly with the media. Shortly after their relationship was confirmed, Harry defended Meghan against "racist and sexist" trolls in a public statement via the Kensington Palace Twitter account. "It has its challenges, and it comes in waves - some days it can feel more challenging than others," Meghan said about the constant public scrutiny that comes with dating a royal. "And right out of the gate it was surprising the way things changed. But I still have this support system all around me, and, of course, my boyfriend's support. I don't read any press. I haven't even read press for Suits. The people who are close to me anchor me in knowing who I am. The rest is noise."

Michael Fassbender's New Murder Mystery Thriller Looks Downright Brutal

The trailer for upcoming thriller The Snowman has dropped, and, well, so did our stomachs. Based on the 2007 novel by Jo Nesbo, the story follows two detectives, Harry Hole (Michael Fassbender) and Katrine Bratt (Rebecca Ferguson). The team is trying to track down a savage killer who's dismembering and beheading "women he disapproves of." The film has all kinds of spooky and gritty vibes to it. We're getting hints of Zodiac, Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and maybe even a dash of FX's acclaimed drama series Fargo. Think you can handle it? The Snowman hits theaters on Oct. 20.

We'll Bet You Can't Watch the Trailer For the New Insidious Movie Without Screaming

If you've lived your life up until now without a paralyzing fear of house keys, I suggest you don't watch the new trailer for Insidious: The Last Key. The latest installment in the terrifying horror franchise moves on with Lin Shaye's Dr. Elise Rainier character, who now faces a threat even worse than the demons who plagued the Lambert family in James Wan's original 2010 film: a nightmarish force is now lurking within her own home. Be sure to get plenty of rest before the movie hits theaters Jan. 5, 2018, because you'll probably never sleep again after watching it.

30 Reasons You Shouldn't Apologize For Having a Crush on Alec Baldwin

Why do you think the characters in Clueless called hot guys "Baldwins"? Back in the '80s and '90s, Alec and his brothers were the equivalent of today's Hemsworths when it came to serving up sexiness as a family. But Alec . . . oh, Alec. That strong jaw. The dark hair. Those piercing blue eyes that could just cut right through you. On shows like Knots Landing and films like Malice, The Hunt For Red October, Glengarry Glen Ross, and even Beetlejuice, Alec Baldwin was it. I refuse to sit here and pretend that he doesn't give off "daddy" vibes and that I don't still find him attractive (when he's not dressed up as Donald Trump or voicing a cartoon baby) - because, yes, his hair may be a shimmery shade of gray now, but those baby blues can still stare right into your soul. These 30 photos are all the reasons you need to keep harboring that Baldwin crush.

9 Ways Prince William Is Keeping His Mother's Memory Alive Within His Own Family

Prince William was just 15 years old when his mother, Princess Diana, was tragically killed in a car accident in August 1997. Now that he and his brother Harry are adults, they've been opening up more and more about how their mother's death has impacted their lives. Recently, William revealed that what perhaps upsets him most about her absence is that she never got to meet his wife, Kate Middleton, or their kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. "I would love her to have met Catherine and to have seen the children grow up," he told British GQ. "It makes me sad that she won't, that they will never know her."

In addition to more modern parenting traditions like bringing his children on royal engagements, sharing official birthday portraits, and making sure George and Charlotte lead lives that are as normal as possible, William has also made sure to honor his mother's legacy in other, smaller ways, from where he lives to the services he uses to his choice of gifts for Kate Middleton. Keep reading to see nine of them now.

8 At-Home Remedies Your Grandma Swears by That Actually Work

Readers, it's time to thank your grandma. Those crazy Latin at-home remedies she showered on you when you were under the weather might have actually worked. In fact, Dr. Keith Roach, associate professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, says that even the rituals that don't have any scientific backing could work - just because you believe in them. "The placebo effect is powerful," he said.

While there are certain Latin cures the doctor advises you should skip when you're sick (like anything involving raw egg, which can carry salmonella, or a shot of alcohol, which can actually be dangerous to your liver during certain illnesses), he weighed in on why some of the most popular get-better-soon treatments that your grandma used actually, truly work. Keep reading to find the list, then check out the family beauty treatments that you should be trying.
