17 Things You Know to Be True If You Hail From a Tiny Town

It doesn't matter if you come from the north, south, east, or west or somewhere else in the world completely, all small towns are virtually the same. For me, growing up in a town in Ohio with about 8,500 people was my normal. It wasn't until I left and moved from one big city to the next that I realized how special it was to come from a small place. Yes, I truly believe it's special, because there's nothing else like experiencing childhood in a place where everyone knows you and cares about you, where you can run around town under the stars (that you can actually see) at 2 a.m. and know you're safe.

If you also come from a small town, you can probably relate to my upbringing. If you're still living in your small town, kudos to you, because it takes a certain kind of person (like my family) to embrace it and love it and stay. For many of us, breaking out was all we dreamed of, but even I love going back several times a year to visit. No matter how much I love city life, I will always, always love my hometown. Keep reading to see exactly why.

11 Things Your Uber and Lyft Drivers Wished You Knew - Before Getting in Their Cars

Just because you know how to open the app on your phone and request an Uber or Lyft doesn't mean that you're a pro - or even a well-liked passenger. Once you get out of the car, drivers talk, and there are many things that riders have in common: they make the same car-service "mistakes."

We chatted with 13 different Uber and Lyft drivers who, with the promise of anonymity, got real about the most annoying things passengers don't know and what they want riders to learn before requesting their next pickup. From simple assumptions to serious faux pas, find out what these strangers hope you know when you get in their personal cars . . . unless you want to be one of those riders.

1. Their cars aren't magical.

Four-passenger vehicles will only fit four people. Period.

2. Don't be rude, and you'll get picked up faster.

If your rating falls below 4.5, many drivers will be hesitant to pick you up, and it will take longer for the app to match you.

3. Don't just look for their cars - be aware of where you're standing.

Especially in crowded cities or on busy streets, don't wait in a ridiculous spot that makes it impossible (or dangerous!) for them to stop to get you. "I had a guy refuse to cross the street for me. We yelled back and forth, and I let him know in no uncertain terms that I wouldn't be picking him up in a clearly marked 'BUS ONLY' lane. He became more and more belligerent until I told him to hang on a second, got my phone out of the car, and had him watch me cancel and get the fee," a driver said.

4. You have until 30 days after a ride to give a tip, so "forgetting" isn't an excuse.

"To tip your driver using the app, you must download the updates. I've learned that most passengers haven't updated, so I remind them and share that they have 30 days to tip. Guess what? I'm getting several tips days after completing rides."

5. All laws still apply - including car seats and open containers.

Their cars aren't a place to extend your pregame or get the party started, and little ones need their car seats at all times (and, no, your lap doesn't count). "No parent is ignorant of car seat laws; I hate it when they argue about it."

6. They are driving you in their family car.

So please just respect it!

7. Age really does matter.

"No one under 18 is allowed to use the service unless someone 18 or over is riding with them, so please don't allow your 12-year-old to have an Uber account."

8. The driver has to pay for everything, so don't be a jerk.

"Some passengers actually believe that Uber provides things for drivers, like our phones or GPS, or that they pay for the gas or repairs," a driver said. "We own our cars and all expenses that come with it. All gas, maintenance, and repairs are all on the driver - Uber and Lyft pay absolutely nothing toward that."

9. Bad things happen when you get too comfortable.

"Sometimes they pass out, and you can't wake them up. We legally aren't allowed to touch them, so we have to call the police when people don't wake up."

10. You, and the person before you, have the power to change a driver's day.

"Be forewarned that there are a lot of very angry and cynical veteran drivers out there that have been burned by these companies and by passengers who behaved badly."

11. Only request an Uber Pool or Lyft Line when you're actually OK with sharing your ride.

Passengers not knowing what they're getting into before requesting shared rides are a big problem for drivers. "Many passengers don't understand how it works, and they get angry when you have to pick up another passenger or if the passenger picked up after them is dropped off first," a driver said. "Sometimes passengers don't respect other passengers and are loud or disrespectful. People end up getting mad at the drivers, and their ratings go down because of it."

Southwest Airlines Flew Shelter Animals Out of Houston, and Our Hearts Are Full

Approximately 80 shelter dogs and cats were safely evacuated out of Houston and flown to San Diego thanks to Southwest Airlines and animal rescue groups. On Tuesday, Sept. 5, dozens of orphaned pets were crated and buckled into a packed cabin on its way to Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe. This allowed for the Texas animal shelters to be available to the pets affected by Hurricane Harvey.

If it wasn't for the efforts of HWAC, Texas rescue group Operation Pets Alive!, and other volunteers, the shelter animals would have been euthanized without anywhere else to go. They're now all up for adoption in their new California home. HWAC and Southwest Airlines have teamed up previously back in both 2012 for Hurricane Sandy and 2005 for Hurricane Katrina, making this their third partnered rescue mission.

Many other animal groups have also been helping relocate furry friends without a home out of the impacted area. It's been incredible to see various charities and airlines come together to aid both four- and two-legged victims.

1 Dad Explains Why It's Not Always the Man's Job to Be "the Rock" After Losing a Child

Greg Hughes knows one thing for sure: "Losing a child fundamentally changes who you are."

The father of three sadly learned this after he tragically lost his son Riley to whopping cough just 32 days after his birth. Hughes, who shared his story on a Facebook post on his page Dad Minus 1, said fathers who have lost children don't have to constantly stay strong during the grieving process. In fact, it's actually not healthy to be "the rock" or "the constant" all the time.

"You've experienced enormity of loss and you've gotta acknowledge that bastard head on," said Hughes in his emotional Facebook post.

The dad went on to share a few of the ways he's changed since losing his son, all of which he came to terms with during a "one man pity party."

I'm less social. Some days the thought of leaving the confines of my own house terrifies me. I'm moody. I can be completely happy to the point of being giddy when suddenly bang! Switch flicked and I'm the black cloud in the room (I particularly enjoy this one). I'm indecisive. Actions have consequences. How do I know that wearing blue jeans over black pants won't somehow kick off a catastrophic chain of events which causes Armageddon?

The grieving dad goes on to explain how he's fully aware that losing his son has taken its toll on his relationship with others. "All these things change who I am as a person and they probably make me more difficult to be around - but they don't mean I'm not still the same person I was before," he explained. "I just bring a little bit more awkward to the table than before I lost a child," he wrote.

Finishing his post, Hughes shares solid advice for any parent who is struggling with losing a baby: "You don't have to try and be the person you were before."

He says that if you have other kids, your priority should be to focus on them while always holding the memories with the child you lost close to your heart. "Instead, remember and acknowledge why you've changed, cherish the positive experiences you had before the loss and focus on what you still have. Sometimes you get so caught up in what you've lost that you overlook what you still have."

If You Inhale the Entire Bag of Chips in 1 Sitting, This Snack Hack Is a Must

You've heard it before: never eat straight out of the bag. So whether you're noshing on cookies or tortilla chips, you try to be good and grab a healthy portion size, put it in a bowl, and enjoy your snack. But the bag of chips calls to you! The open package is just too tempting! So you go back to the kitchen to refill your bowl, and then, oops - you end up inhaling half the bag. Sound familiar? Don't worry, it happens to the best of us.

If you need some help with practicing self-control, here's a little snack hack to help you stick to those portion sizes. When you're opening a new bag or box, whether it's pretzels, popcorn, or crackers, divide the entire package into all the portions right then and there using little baggies. Your serving sizes will be more accurate when you divide them all at once, and they'll stay fresher, too. Put your preportioned servings into the cupboard or pantry. When you're ready for a snack, whether it's to nibble on while watching TV or to throw in your gym bag for later, just grab one and be done!

Oh, Hell No! This GOP Congressman Just Called Rep. Jayapal a "Little Lady"

Take several deep breaths and have a seat, because this video of Alaska Congressman Don Young directing mind-blowing levels of sexism at Rep. Pramila Jayapal is going to raise your blood pressure by roughly 2,000 percent. The clip comes from a Sept. 7 debate in the House about federal spending on wildlife management, where the two Representatives were arguing their opposing sides.

In all honesty, each sentence from Rep. Young's diatribe against Congresswoman Jayapal is more sexist than the last - but it's pretty damn hard to beat out his opening line. He begins his utterly bizarre tirade by referring to his colleague, Rep. Jayapal, as a "young lady" who "doesn't know a damn thing about what she's talking about." And just in case that first sentence isn't rage-inducing enough for you, he continues to repeatedly refer to her with by patronizing label of "young lady" throughout the clip. Finally, Rep. Jayapal puts a stop to the whole trainwreck in a tone far calmer than most humans would have been able to attain, saying, "The gentleman has already impugned my motives by saying that I don't 'know a damn thing' about what I'm talking about and he's now called me 'young lady,' and Mr. Chairman, I ask that he take down his words."

While the Congressman did offer an apology following his tantrum, the fact of the matter remains that this type of sexist behavior is wildly unacceptable. You can watch the whole clip below at the risk of flipping over the nearest table; and here's hoping that the next time Rep. Young argues his case against a member of the opposite sex in the workplace, he's able to keep his sh*t together long enough to remember that the proper label for his his female colleagues is either "Congresswoman" or "ma'am" - not "little lady."

The Hidden Rainbow Roots Trend Is Mesmerizing

Creating hidden rainbow roots is a glorious new trend that basically updates the concept of "business in the front, party in the back."

Hair stylist Brittnie Garcia recently shared her take on rainbow hair on her Instagram account, and we're pretty obsessed. You may remember the rainbow roots trend from several months ago. This technique differs in that instead of abruptly stopping (almost creating a colorblock effect), this style sneakily conceals the dye throughout the strands. It allows for people to rock a more traditional hue and technicolor tresses simultaneously. The visibility of the rainbow portion depends on the movement of your hair and how much of it you want dyed.

Look ahead for some pictures of this innovative hair trend and prepare to start seeing it everywhere.

This Awesome Bride Made Her Entire Wedding Match Her Rainbow Hair

Though the rainbow hair trend has largely conquered the world by now, there's one occasion that many women choose to revert to their natural hair color: their wedding day. While we understand that some ladies might prefer that those all-important photos look a little more timeless, we also believe you should feel confident in displaying your personality on your big day. San Diego-based artist Taylor Ann did just that. She opted to celebrate her nuptials while rocking her signature colorful strands, all woven into a beautiful, intricate braid that cascaded into a ponytail.

But she really bucked tradition by going one step further. She incorporated the hues of her ombré magenta, orange, blue, and purple mane into practically every detail of her wedding! Her dress was dip-dyed with the colors, and her eye makeup, decorations, flower arrangements, and bridesmaids' gowns all featured Taylor Ann's jewel tones. Thankfully, James Tang of James Tang Photography was on hand to capture every vibrant moment. Read on and prepare to be mesmerized.

When She Was Alive, Selena Was Bringing All the Dollar Bills, Y'All

Selena Quintanilla started gaining fame when she was 9 years old as the lead singer of Selena y Los Dinos. When she was alive, it was estimated she was worth at least $10 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Selena had two clothing boutiques that fans couldn't get enough of. She won a Grammy for her hit album Live!, which catapulted her into the American market, and was selling out huge venues for her concerts. Before she died, Selena had plans to become an international superstar and was even working on an English album. To this day, her biopic is the 11th highest grossing biopic of all time.

A Celebrity Trainer's Weight-Loss Rule: 3 Miles or 30 Minutes

Before trainer Kit Rich became a Pilates instructor to the stars (and healthy-lifestyle ambassador for brands like Lucy), she was just a woman trying yet another crazy, extreme, or unhealthy diet in order to lose weight. "I tried everything," she told POPSUGAR, adding that she also suffered from eating disorders and body dysmorphia. "I was desperate to lose weight. So I would do, like what most women do, those freaking crazy juice diets. I would do all these extreme things, but it always brought me back to the other extreme."

After years of yo-yo dieting, Kit finally hit on her problem: she was working out in a way that wasn't sustainable. Her solution was one that helped her lose 30 pounds and one that she still shares with her students today, whether she's teaching a private class in LA or going on tour with a musician client. Her tip? Make it manageable. Specifically, Kit says that her mantra of "three miles or 30 minutes, every day" is what helped her finally break free from weight fluctuations and keep the pounds off for good. As in: run, walk, or hike your way to three miles a day, or do a 30-minute workout instead. "I really do believe wholeheartedly that the middle road is the way to go," she says. "Anything extreme is not long-lasting."

As a former athlete, this manageable mantra helped keep Kit from burning out on her workouts when she was trying to lose weight. "I come from a background of injury, and I had knee surgery, so you can't tell me to go and take some crazy bootcamp class," she says. "Because my knee will start to hurt, and then what's going to start to happen, I'm going to freak out that I won't be able to do that for the rest of my life." Instead, just telling yourself to do something little every day can help you get a hold of your health and your weight-loss goals. "Women need to feel empowered," she says. "They need to feel like what they're doing is something that they somewhat enjoy and that they can have a grip on. And that's why I believe in this three or 30 rule."

Katie Holmes Goes Through a Wave of Hilarious Emotions While Watching the US Open

Katie Holmes has many reasons to smile these days; she has a beautiful bond with 11-year-old daughter Suri Cruise, she has a new movie on the way, and after much speculation, she finally went public with her romance with Jamie Foxx. All of that is perhaps why she appeared to be in such a good mood at the US Open Tennis Championships in NYC on Thursday. The 38-year-old actress sat in the stands of the Arthur Ashe Stadium and got extremely invested in the match between Venus Williams and Sloane Stephens - who knew Katie was such a big sports fan? Katie went through a wave of emotions, including gasping and cheering, and at one point, it even looked like she was ready to make her way down to the court. You honestly just have to see the pictures for yourself.

Meet Bill Skarsgard, the Guy About to Terrorize You as Pennywise

Bill Skarsgard is the hot man behind the horrifying face of clown makeup in the remake of Stephen King's It, and we don't even feel weird about being attracted to him. Sure, he's playing one of the most iconic supernatural villains of all time, but Bill IRL seems kind of great. While you may have noticed him as Matthew in the Divergent film Allegiant, he's popped up all over the place. With the release of It finally upon us, get the scoop on what you need to know about the up-and-coming actor.

  1. He's Swedish, in case you couldn't tell. Bill was born in Vällingby, a suburban area outside of Stockholm, Sweden.
  2. He comes from a famous brood. Those icy looks run in the family; Bill is the younger brother of Alexander Skarsgard, famous for True Blood and Big Little Lies. Their father is Stellan Skarsgard, a longtime actor who you may recognize from Good Will Hunting, Thor, and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Alexander was initially worried about Bill coming to LA in pursuit of being an actor, but Bill ended up booking a major role in a month and a half.
  3. In fact, there are more Skarsgards than you think. Bill has five full siblings (Alexander, Gustaf, Sam, Eija, and Valter) and two half-brothers, Ossian and Kolbjörn. That's a lot of Christmas gifts to buy.
  4. He's been in creepy stuff before. Though his performance as Pennywise will undoubtedly haunt us forever and ever, It isn't Bill's first foray into horror. He starred on all three seasons of Netflix's Hemlock Grove as Roman Godfrey. He knows his way around the supernatural. Then again, that show never had a killer clown.

  1. His breakthrough role was playing a man with Asperger's syndrome. Bill starred in the 2010 Swedish film Simple Simon as a young man with the developmental disorder. He was nominated for a Guldbagge Award, which is basically the equivalent of a Swedish Oscar.
  2. Bill had big dreams of traveling the Trans-Siberian railroad. In an interview with his father, Stellan inquired about why Bill chose to act after graduation rather than stick with his initial plan of traveling. "The main reason why I didn't really pursue acting early was because I thought people would say, 'Yeah OK, here comes another one, he's been fed on a silver plate of course he's an actor,'" Bill said. "You know as well as anybody else you don't just 'get to' play parts, you need to prove yourself."
  3. He got his driver's license at 26 years old. It wasn't until Bill had been in Canada and America for a few years that he thought to get a license.

A Boy with Epilepsy Owes His Life to This 1 Completely Legal Marijuana-Based Product

Billy Caldwell almost didn't make it to his 12th birthday due to life-threatening seizures caused by severe epilepsy. But since being prescribed CBD oil, his health has improved so drastically he hasn't suffered a seizure in 300 days.

Caldwell, who has intractable epilepsy (meaning no matter what changes are made to his diet or medication, his seizures remain frequent and unpredictable), was dying from his condition until he was prescribed CBD oil - a cannabis-based product that doesn't contain any harmful chemicals.

According to an interview Billy's mom did with ITV News, her son suffered up to 100 seizures per day - and that's a pretty terrifying thought since one is all it could take to kill him.

While CBD oil is completely legal in the US, it's not legal in the UK yet. Caldwell, whose family lives in Northern Ireland, became the first person to receive a prescription for medical marijuana in the country.

Billy's mother also said that CBD oil has helped alleviate some of his autism symptoms, and has improved his eye contact and engagement level with books and toys.

The Caldwells set up a Facebook page called Keep Billy Alive to chronicle his journey and to raise awareness about the positive effects of CBD oil.

Trump's Insensitive Tweet About DACA Has the Internet Pissed - and Rightfully So

In case you haven't been on social media or watched the news lately, the Trump administration officially decided to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which protected thousands of undocumented immigrants who came to the States as children. Congress now has six months to legalize it or find some sort of legislative solution. In the wake of the polarizing announcement on Sept. 5, which ignited widespread public protests, Trump attempted to reassure those who may be affected by the decision - with an emphasis on the word "attempted." Spoiler alert: it didn't go over too well.

Two days after Attorney General Jeff Sessions made the announcement on behalf of the White House, the POTUS chimed in on social media by firing off the following tweet.

OK, to be fair, we do ever-so-slightly understand Trump's point here. There is a chance that Congress could protect Dreamers within the six-month span by passing one of four immigration bills that has been put forth as a potential solution. However, we don't exactly have the most confidence in Congress's track record lately, so it's unclear whether any of these will actually end up getting passed. Not to mention the fact that by putting the decision solely in Congress's (dysfunctional) hands, Trump is shifting the blame away from himself. Talk about one heck of a scapegoat.

The internet - both DACA beneficiaries and not - was collectively (and rightfully) appalled at how tone-deaf Trump's aforementioned tweet was. Twitter erupted into an angry wave of clapbacks, and the tweet garnered way more interaction than usual (about 23,000 replies and counting versus his usual average of about 5,000 replies). Below is just a sampling of the on-point reactions to Trump's faux-reassurance for DACA recipients, who apparently have "nothing to worry about" in the next six months.

Why 1 Meteorologist's Hurricane Irma Coverage Landed Him a "Best Weatherman Ever" Trophy

Hurricane Irma has been tearing across the Atlantic, leaving a trail of devastation in her wake. But during a time when people are frantically turning on the news expecting to hear the worst, many have found solace in Alabama meteorologist Alan Sealls. The 30-year news veteran is being praised for his coverage of Hurricane Irma for local news station WKRG, and it's with good reason. Sealls's soothing and honest perspective on the hurricane's possible destruction has viewers comparing him to Bob Ross, calling him "the best weatherman I've seen," and landing him on the front page of Reddit.

There is no doubt that it is incredibly difficult to convey heartbreaking truths about a natural disaster, but Sealls delivers the news in a way that many national meteorologists have never quite been able to achieve. Check out some of his praise below.

  • "This guy reminded me more of a really good professor than a weatherman. If you get a professor or teacher who explains this this well and with this much confidence, you know you're in for a good semester."
  • "He was just absolutely outstanding at explaining things, and he explained everything and did it very quickly."
  • "This guy looks like he owns fifteen #1 dads mugs and deserves all of them."
  • "He's like the mister rogers of weather reporting."
  • "This guy was great! I thought he was not only knowledgeable about what he was presenting, but I just get the vibe that he's a genuinely nice man."

After his coverage of the hurricane went viral earlier this week, WKRG decided to make Sealls's internet praise official - stamping it on a trophy that reads "Alan Sealls Best Weatherman Ever!!!," seen below. And we can't emphasize enough how very well-deserved this trophy is.

What Exactly Is Gender-Neutral Parenting?

Chances are you've heard of gender-neutral parenting, but given the often-extreme examples that surface in the media, you still may not know what it really is. Put simply, gender-neutral parenting tries to eliminate commonly found stereotypes about gender roles that afflict our society. Allowing your preschool daughter to explore and engage in the activities that interest her (such as Legos or trucks) or letting your toddler son play with dolls are simple examples of gender-neutral parenting. By de-emphasizing the expectation that all little girls want to become pretty princesses and all little boys want to become superheroes, we can take away the inadvertent grooming that often conditions children at an age when they are the most susceptible.

Why Is It a Hot Topic?

The concept of gender-neutral parenting became a hot topic in 2015 when retail giant Target decided to phase out gender-specific signage in certain departments like toys and bedding. This seemed like a no-brainer, yet the decision was met with both appreciation and scorn as opposing view holders saw the move as another polarizing stance in the fight for (or against) gender neutrality.

Why Are Some People Opposed?

The most common misconception about gender-neutral parenting is that it aims to erase all forms of gender differences. Similar to most parenting styles, the desire to neutralize gender stereotypes can vary from mild versions to more notable cases. For example, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is often photographed dressed more like her dad, Brad Pitt, rather than her mom, Angelina Jolie. In interviews, Angelina has noted that her daughter has the choice to wear what the young child finds comfort and happiness in, noting, "She likes to dress like a boy. She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair."

A more extreme example can be found in Canada, where a child was issued a birth certificate without a gender specified, a first in the nation.

Another frequent misconception is that gender-neutral parenting is a way to encourage homosexuality among kids. This is grossly false, as studies have shown that the vast majority of children raised without gender expectations grow up to identify as heterosexual individuals.

What Does Science Say?

A Common Sense Media study found that when children watch, read, or observe gender stereotypes, they become ingrained with masculine and feminine expectations of their own characteristics. That then translates into cultural expectations for each gender. So it's no surprise, for example, that people more often associate science-related career paths with men and not women. Of course, this way of stereotyping affects women and young girls in an adverse way, often by subconsciously discouraging them from pursuing a field like science.

So by aiming to raise children without added pressures in the home, they are allowed to cultivate their identities without the confines of preset gender expectations in a space where they feel nurtured and safe. Though there are extreme styles of this type of parenting, a more moderate approach could result in benefits not just for your own children but also for society as a whole.

10 Times Skeet Ulrich Mesmerized You With His Creepily Sexy Smirk

You may know Skeet Ulrich as FP Jones from Riverdale, but the 47-year-old actor has actually been steaming up the silver screen since the '90s. Yep, in case you can't recall (or weren't born yet), Skeet played Chris Hooker in The Craft, Billy Loomis in Scream, and Juvenal in Touch. While Skeet has undergone a series of transformations throughout the years, the one thing that's remained the same is his killer good looks. We don't know if it's his rugged scruff or his creepily sexy smirk, but there's something about him that is just so irresistible.

Disney Is Pulling Their Movies From Netflix, So Watch These 21 Titles Before It's Too Late

It feels like it took forever for Disney to roll out its movies on Netflix. Back in May 2016, the streaming service announced that it would be the exclusive home for Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Lucasfilm movies online. While the full catalog was by no means available, there were a handful of movies you could watch when new titles were added every month. Unfortunately, it looks like the Mouse House is breaking up with Netflix, so you won't be able to enjoy movies like Moana, Lilo & Stitch, and Zootopia for much longer.

After announcing that it would be starting its own streaming service, Disney has released additional details that might disappoint Netflix subscribers. At a recent conference, Disney CEO Bob Iger said, "We're going to launch big, and we're going to launch hot." What does that mean exactly? Well, all content created by Walt Disney Studios - yes, including Marvel and all Star Wars films - will soon only be available on the new streaming service. The service is set to launch in late 2019, so the films will sadly be removed from Netflix around that same time.

Since our time with Netflix's cache of Disney classics has an expiration date, there's no better time to hunker down for a Disney marathon. Check out the best titles it has to offer below!

Here's What's Been Going on With JTT Since His Teen Heartthrob Days

Every so often, we take a second to reflect on our celebrity crushes of yore, from boy band members to cute TV actors, and wonder: what the hell happened to them? An adorable heartthrob named Jonathan Taylor Thomas (affectionately known as JTT) had a heyday in the '90s, taking over the covers of teenybopper magazines and making us swoon each week as Randy Taylor on the ABC sitcom Home Improvement. Between 1991 and 1999, JTT's cute little face and floppy middle-parted hair was also featured in big-screen classics like Man of the House, Tom and Huck, Wild America, and I'll Be Home For Christmas, and he also lent his voice to Disney's The Lion King as young Simba. After a smooth run of success, Jonathan Taylor Thomas seemingly disappeared. Poof!

In 2013, Jonathan opened up about his decision to leave the spotlight, telling People that he had "been going nonstop since I was 8 years old," adding, "I wanted to go to school, to travel, and have a bit of a break." We've dug up details on what JTT has - and hasn't - been up to since his Teen Beat days - keep reading for the goods, because some of it may surprise you.

Cersei Lannister - Er, Lena Headey - Is Selling Her SoCal Home, and It's Gorgeous

When Lena Headey isn't chillin' in King's Landing while in character as Cersei Lannister, the Game of Thrones actress is probably relaxing on a throne - er, poolside lounger - at her charming SoCal home that's fit for the queen she truly is. The Sherman Oaks residence, which is now listed by John Aaroe Group agent Zoe Rudolph for $1.945 million, boasts five bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms in a lovely "mid-century meets boho chic" setting, Trulia reports.

Although Headey's home is now decked out with reclaimed oak flooring, gorgeous tile backsplashes, vaulted ceilings, and retro-inspired furnishings, it hasn't always looked this way. When she purchased the property back in 2014 for $790,000, it was quite the fixer-upper. She may not have had wildfire, but she had some crazy design skills when it came to her dramatic overhaul of the dated home.

Read on to catch a glimpse of Headey's open and airy home, which is now on the market.

Disney Is Pulling Their Movies From Netflix, So Watch These 21 Titles Before It's Too Late

It feels like it took forever for Disney to roll out its movies on Netflix. This Wedding Cake Combines Our Favorite Unicorn Desserts in 1 Magical Masterpiece

By now, we've basically lost track of all the glorious unicorn-themed desserts that have graced our social media feeds, from macarons and doughnuts to cake pops and chocolate bark. But why choose between them when you can combine all of these sweet treats into one larger-than-life edible masterpiece? Well, that's what one baker just did, and her creation is breaking the internet with its majesty.

Reshmi Bennett is the renowned genius behind the Unicorn Croquembouche Wedding Cake, a fantastical work of art comprised of more pastel goodies than we can even count. Whereas normal croquembouches are typically made of pastry balls assembled into a cone-like shape and drizzled with caramel, Reshmi's one-of-a-kind version is a lot more involved.

Layers of chocolate and vanilla sponges are frosted with buttercream and chocolate glaze to comprise the base of this towering creation. And then comes an impressive slew of toppings, including eclairs, doughnuts, macarons, piped buttercream flowers, chocolate pearls, candied popcorn, and OH MY GOSH, I do not have a pulse anymore. The croquembouche is topped with a cone to resemble a unicorn horn, of course. Does it get any more perfect than this? Seriously, if you find out, let me know.

Every treat on this epic dessert is made from scratch, which explains why it takes three long days to make (and why it costs $1,020!). Unfortunately, Reshmi works for a family-run online bakery in London called Anges de Sucre, which only delivers its goodies within the UK (*insert excessive weeping here*). It looks like I'll be having a destination wedding in London!

Read on to drool over this picturesque beauty, and you'll be convinced that a unicorn wedding is the only way to go.

What's the Best Way to Help After a Disaster Like Hurricane Harvey? An Expert Weighs In

As the Texan victims of Hurricane Harvey slowly begin returning to their ravaged homes - if there's even a home to return to - and residents of Florida evacuate and prep ahead of Hurricane Irma, many Americans who haven't been directly affected are wondering the same thing: what can we do to help?

Tide's disaster relief program, Loads of Hope, invited me to help volunteer in Houston the week following Hurricane Harvey. While there, I sought to find an answer to that exact question and spoke with Claude Zukowski, Procter & Gamble's lead global disaster relief coordinator and head of the company's Children's Safe Drinking Water Program, about the best ways for people to help in times of crisis. Zukowski, a former microbiologist who has also served as a paramedic and firefighter, travels the world assisting with natural disaster relief efforts in her current role.

As far as volunteering goes, she explained that having an organized group - especially one that's willing to invest in training its volunteers - can make your efforts more beneficial than going it alone. "There are organizations that look for and oversee projects for volunteers like All Hands and the American Red Cross," she told me. "I think it's important to work through a group because it's good to have a group that is also working with local government organizations and can really direct people to the right places and the right areas and doing the things that are most needed."

If you're looking to help in the immediate aftermath, being available in person can be huge for the basic cleanup. "There's a lot of physical, manual labor, so I think people that are physically fit and have the ability to do that to come and help those who are older or not able to do as much for themselves could be a huge help in communities," she said. "With flooding, houses have to be gutted, you have to get anything out that has come in contact with the floodwaters so it doesn't grow mold. I can't imagine having to gut my whole house by myself. It takes a village."

But the real struggle comes once the media coverage ends and the story is no longer leading the news every day. Recovery is a long-term process, especially for big natural disasters like Harvey. "People who can continue to volunteer beyond just the first week or two, that would be fantastic," Zukowski said.

Choosing the Right Organizations to Support

For many of us who aren't able to be on the ground after a disaster and are looking for ways to assist from afar, it can come down to throwing your support behind the organizations involved with aiding those in need. Zukowski stresses the importance of doing your research and encourages individuals to look for the organizations you know for certain are directing their services and funding directly toward helping get people back on their feet. After that? It's a personal preference.

"Do the research first, then find one that really speaks to you," she added. "If you're a pet-lover, there's a huge need for SPCA and really taking care of the pets that get left behind or need to be rescued. You tailor it towards what you want to do, whether it be pets or just basic human needs like organizations like the American Red Cross. They are the ones on the front lines, helping people with food, shelter, water. When that time has passed and people are getting back on their feet, there are other groups that are in it for the long haul. The local food banks do a lot for the communities. They're not just looking for donations. It can be monetary, it can be products, and it can also be just help stocking and distributing."

"The one thing I've noticed from working on this program that I think is absolutely amazing is how communities come together."

In the end, it's all about doing what you can and being available to support your neighbors and communities.

"The one thing I've noticed from working on this program that I think is absolutely amazing is how communities come together," she told me. "I think what happened with Harvey is a good example. People bringing their boats and doing rescues, and after that, neighbors helping neighbors, groups that want to volunteer."

Thor Assembles the "Revengers" in the Latest Ragnarok Trailer

The wait for Thor: Ragnarok has been painfully long, but luckily the latest trailer somewhat makes up for it. After the superhero loses his hammer to Hela (aka goth Cate Blanchett), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) races to save Asgard from total destruction by bringing together a team of unlikely heroes. Seriously, isn't Loki like, a bad guy? We may have a long way to go until the Avengers: Infinity War movies, but the "Revengers" seem to be in full force. Catch all the sneak peeks before the film hits theaters on Oct. 25.

Do Rihanna's Blotting Sheets Double as Rolling Papers? (Asking For a Friend)

Rihanna has long been loud and proud about her love affair with marijuana. She's smoked on album covers, in music videos, and worn weed-printed clothing, and back in 2015, there were even (killed) rumors she was launching a line of cannabis products called "MaRihanna." That's why it's not surprising that when she debuted blotting sheets ($16) for her Fenty Beauty collection, fans thought it was a totally different product. You see, they look straight up like rolling papers. Observe:

Packaged in a lipstick-size pink container with a convenient mirror, the sheets don't come in the usual singles, but rather an entire roll to rip off as needed. You can understand why fans were hopeful Rihanna just cleverly disguised the weed essential to be Sephora-friendly. The verdict is still out on its dual purpose, but we can at least confirm the sheets are supereffective for eradicating oily skin.

Rihanna said at her launch event that she prefers the matte look and likes to finish off her makeup application with these sheets because you only want to glow in certain parts of your face (like the cheekbones!). When we tested it out, it took two palm-size sheets to target the T-Zone and chin. Just a few dabs, and unsightly grease was gone. We'd say buy multiples, but the smart, reusable design makes it so you'll only have to buy paper refills ($10).

Over on Twitter, several folks have been coming to the same conclusion re: rolling papers. Read on for some of the funniest reactions.

Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem's Sweetest Pictures Together

Penélope Cruz and her husband, Javier Bardem, have been together for almost a decade, and even though they tend to stay hidden, we can't get enough of their cute moments together. The two Spaniards started dating in 2007 after starring in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, but they have worked together on a few more films, including Jamón, Jamón, The Counselor, and their most recent, Loving Pablo. The couple tied the knot in July 2010 and are parents to two children, son Leo and daughter Luna.

"She has what I call the loving blood. Passion for everything," Javier sweetly told GQ about his wife in May. "That's what I find attractive. There is beauty and there is being sexy. Penelope has both." Bask in all of their glory and prepare to drool (just a bit) at how sexy of a couple they are by looking at their best red carpet moments.

21 People Who Have a LOT of Feelings About the New Bachelor, Arie Luyendyk Jr.

Well, it's official, Bachelor Nation. A decision for the next season of The Bachelor has finally been made, and the new leading man will be . . . Arie Luyendyk Jr. Although many fans were expecting Peter Kraus or Wells Adams to be crowned the next Bachelor, the title unexpectedly went to the 35-year-old race car driver, who was the runner-up on Emily Maynard's season of The Bachelorette back in 2012. Even though there's been some excitement over ABC's unexpected choice (including some kind words from fellow Bachelorette alum Evan Bass), most people on Twitter seem to be asking the same question: "Um, who is Arie Lyendyk Jr., again?" We've gone ahead and rounded up the most hilarious reactions to the announcement, so check them out ahead.

This "Functional Hot Mess" Mom Isn't Just Every Parent - She's All of Us

Yes, I hid from the Tennis Moms at the bus stop this morning. Yes, I'm wearing the same clothes I wore yesterday. Yes, I'm wearing a sleep bonnet and no chap stick. No, I won't try any harder at 8am...😂

Posted by Nicole Walters on Thursday, September 7, 2017

I didn't expect when I woke up this morning that I'd share a deep emotional connection with a total stranger on the internet within 10 minutes of leaving my bed, but thanks to Nicole Waters, who live streamed herself hiding from her fellow suburban moms at the school bus stop, I feel like I've made a new best friend. Not only that, but Nicole may have just coined a term that applies to pretty much every person I know, myself extremely included: "functional hot mess."

In the hilarious video, Nicole is seen keeping it "all the way real" in her sleep bonnet and "Oprah wasn't built in a day" shirt that she wore yesterday - don't worry, she sniffed it and it's "still good" - staring at the other moms through her screen door. Nicole and her family are new to the neighborhood, and she admits that she's also new to this whole suburban mom thing. Because her 6-year-old daughter just started kindergarten, Nicole is adjusting to the fact that the bus doesn't pick up her kid right at the mailbox, but down the street, where all of the "bus moms" convene (particularly her across-the-street-neighbor, who may or may not have judged Nicole for giving her child the chore of picking weeds outside).

"I don't know if any of you guys are like me," Nicole says in her live video. "I like people and I'm extroverted. I'm really just a lover of people . . . but I also don't like people."

(Full disclosure: I'm raising both of my hands.)

The Maryland mom continues, sharing how difficult it can be to feel inferior to other moms, like you don't quite have your sh*t together in the way everyone else does - heck, even Nicole's nanny, who took her daughter down to the bus stop, asked Nicole if she had a blazer she could borrow to look more like she had her own life together.

"It stresses me out," she says of the bus stop scenario - the high-pitched chatting, the smiling, the comparisons, the unspoken judgments. "I have anxiety. Usually around like 8:30 I start getting heart palpitations . . . Every day I'm like, 'Am I going to make it?' Everything is touch and go . . . I can't even."

Although we'll admit that even Nicole is guilty of being judgmental toward the other moms - we all need to make more of an effort to not judge each other - you've got to admit, this 12-minute video is the epitome of relatable, and we are here for it.

30 Times a Glimpse of Lauren Conrad's Interior Design Just Wasn't Enough

Ever since Lauren Conrad made up one-third of a dramatic love triangle in Laguna Beach (and later graduated to The Hills), she has been an idol to many of us 20-something females. I know my college roommates and I weren't alone when we gathered in our living room every week to watch the latest situations transpire with Speidi, Brody Jenner, or even Jen Bunney (remember her?). Aside from the drama, we all just really wanted to know: how could someone be so effortlessly beautiful, relatable, and interesting to watch, all at the same time?

These days, while Lauren is unfortunately not on reality TV anymore, there is another way we are all able to share in her flawless style, and that is through photos she shares on her addicting Instagram account. And while many of us automatically associate her with fashion, she applies her chic taste across many channels, including home decor. Read on to see some of the most swoon-worthy interior design posts straight from our girl LC (and yes, we dug down deep!).

13 Undeniable Traits of an INFJ Personality Type

When I first read about my personality type, I felt like someone had written the description as a personal letter to me. Every word hit the nail on the head and actually helped me understand myself better than ever before. I'm an INFJ, the most rare Myers Briggs type, making up less than one percent of the population. INFJ stands for (I) Introverted, (N) Intuition, (F) Feeling, and (J) Judging. INFJs are "the advocates," with unique strengths and weaknesses that only others who share our type can truly understand. We're contradictory and compassionate, intuitive but also private and sometimes oversensitive. If you're an INFJ, you will be able to relate to these 13 traits the personality type has.

  1. You're a helper. INFJs are helpers who fight for what they believe in and who work to ensure the well-being and equality of others. They have strong convictions and an instinct for understanding people. However, INFJs need to remember to take of themselves, too. Their dedication to the causes they feel most passionate about is one of their greatest strengths, but it can also leave them exhausted and stressed if they forget to practice self-care.
  2. You are a private person. Trust doesn't always come that easily to INFJs, and they are generally very private about their personal lives. "A well-developed INFJ knows how to stay well emotionally, physically, and spiritually," says Rachel Green, director of The Emotional Intelligence Institute. "This means they know when they need to take private time to recharge their batteries but they don't stay there. They also know they have to have stimulation from the outer world and to socialize. So they develop a healthy balance between the two."
  3. You're extremely good at reading people. Don't try to get anything past an INFJ - they are like human lie detectors. "INFJs are known for their abilities to read people with uncanny accuracy," says Green.
  4. You're a perfectionist. INFJs tend to be overachievers, sometimes to a fault. They don't do anything halfway, but this perfectionism has its downsides. "INFJs too often drop or ignore healthy and productive situations and relationships, always believing there might be a better option down the road," says 16 Personalities. This perfectionism can also lead to burnouts if INFJs aren't careful.
  5. You're very creative. If someone has a problem, INFJs will find the solution. They are creative thinkers, which is one of their greatest strengths. "Combining a vivid imagination with a strong sense of compassion, INFJs use their creativity to resolve not technical challenges, but human ones," says 16 Personalities.
  6. You're compassionate. You tend to "catch" the feelings of others. INFJs are often empaths, meaning they have the ability to relate to and absorb the feelings of other people. They are extremely compassionate and are often caregivers. Not only do INFJs care deeply about the people they have allowed into their lives, but they care about the state of the world at large.
  7. You can be oversensitive. "When someone challenges or criticizes INFJs' principles or values, they are likely to receive an alarmingly strong response," says 16 Personalities. INFJs are vulnerable to criticism and do not like to be involved in conflict - though they will engage, if they feel strongly about the subject of the conflict.
  8. You're an idealist. INFJs see the world they think it should be, and they believe it's possible to improve it. They're idealists, but not "idle dreamers." INFJs don't just dream about a better world; their characteristic determination leads them to go out and make it so.
  9. You're both emotional and logical. INFJs are an interesting combination of traits. They are capable of being level-headed and logical, but allow their emotions to play a factor in their decision-making as well. This means that INFJs' actions reflect a unique combination of wisdom and gut feelings.
  10. It's all or nothing for you. INFJs don't waste their time on people or situations if they are not genuine. If they don't see a relationship going anywhere, or if something doesn't enrich their lives, they have no problems cutting it out completely. INFJs want authenticity in everything, and if it they aren't able to find it, they don't want any part of it.
  11. You hate small talk. Not only do INFJs have an aversion to inauthentic relationships, they also hate surface-level conversation. This personality type wants to get down to important stuff, and quickly, without wasting time on pointless details. That being said, INFJs are actually gifted with language. They are often creative writers and are able to put onto paper what they can't (or won't) put into words.
  12. You're determined. Strong-willed, opinionated, and determined - INFJs don't back down if they care about something, and the combination of passion and persistence is a strength that makes the personality type stand out and get things done.
  13. You're all about the big picture. INFJs are deep thinkers who often reflect both on themselves and the world around them. They are able to see an end goal and seek out the "meaning" behind everything.

Why You Shouldn't Trust Ivy on American Horror Story: Cult

What do you know, we only lasted through one episode of American Horror Story: Cult before the internet began exploding with crazy theories. In the wake of the premiere, we're already asking ourselves if the clowns are even real, what the deal is with the very Manson-adjacent Winter, and what's behind that mysterious door in Kai's apartment. If you ask me, though, I don't even think you have to reach that far to find evil. After all, the the scary new season is all about paranoia, disillusion, and mistrust. That's why I'm taking aim at the Mayfair-Richards household.

I think Ivy is already a member of Kai's cult, possibly since before the election. The first tip-off is that she seems to be diminishing Ally's fears and experiences from the very start. She's quick to say Ally is imagining things. And when they're alone in their empty restaurant, it's almost easy to see how she may have played a part in pulling it off. She's also quick to tell Ally that she doesn't know how much longer she can deal with all of her nonsense. After, what, like one month? Some marriage, am I right?

One other perplexing plot point is that the cult seems to know about Ally's deep fears. But if they had someone on the inside, someone close to her, it would be easy to know how to push her buttons. It's possible Ivy is behind the whole situation with clowns terrifying Ally. I mean, one of the clowns even has tiny holes all over it! How could they know about Ally's trypophobia unless they were clued in?

Isn't it strange that Ivy is never around when Ally is experiencing all this trauma? Isn't it bizarre that one of the cult members, Winter, just so happens to snag the nanny gig that Ally posts a listing for online? Perhaps the most logical conclusion is that none of it is by accident. It's all been orchestrated from the inside.

Then we have the final nail in the coffin: the season preview. Not only do we see Ivy slapping her wife across the face and driving a wedge even further into their marriage, but there's one especially bloody scene we only see for a split second. Ivy and Winter are presumably in The Butchery on Main together (based on the hanging meat carcasses behind them). They're cutting up something using a piece of machinery. Ivy looks absolutely invigorated by whatever she's doing, while Winter looks on with a smug grin.

Considering this would be a pretty unsanitary way to prepare edible meat, we can safely assume this isn't step one in an elaborate steak dinner. Given the amount of blood and the looks on the characters' faces, this is the scene after a pretty satisfying murder. Perhaps The Butchery is just the best way to get rid of the body. And if Winter and Ivy are hanging out beyond the confines of Winter's nanny gig, and if they're getting into some dark sh*t together, you can see how Ivy isn't the person we think she is at all.

Stay on guard, AHS fans. This lesbian liberal is up to no good.

A 1-Year-Old Boy Towers Over the US-Mexico Border in This Moving Art Installation

Just as the Trump administration decided to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, a massive art installation appeared on the border in Tecate, Mexico. The 70-foot artwork depicts a 1-year-old boy peering over the edge at the other side.

JR, a French photographer and artist, created the installation based on a picture he took of Enrique Achondo, a boy who lives in Tecate with his family. In an interview with The New York Times, JR noted that the piece is not specifically targeted at Donald Trump; instead, it's a reflection on border walls and those who live alongside them. "Some people dream about fantasy worlds, I dream about walls," he said.

The artist did a lot of reflecting on how children perceive walls in relation to his newest piece. "I wonder, is this kid worrying about what will happen? What does he think?" JR said. "At one year old, you don't see the frontier or which side is better." The installation will be on display at the border for a month.
