Oh My Quad! This Leg-Toning Exercise Is Good
Tina Turner has some of the best legs to walk this earth (so good, they're reportedly insured for $3.2 million). What exactly makes them great? The definition that is apparent from her quads all the way down to her calves. The four muscles that make up your quadriceps are the vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, vastus intermedius, and the rectus femoris. They start at the top of your pelvis and thighbone, then come together in a tendon surrounding the kneecap and attach to your shinbone.
Taking up a majority of your leg muscles, the quadriceps are not only nice to look at, but are an essential muscle group used in everyday activities like running. A great way to train your quads is by doing single-leg leg extensions.
Here's how to do it:
- Select your desired weight on the weight stack and insert the pin. A good weight to start with for beginners is five pounds. If you're more advanced, try 10 to 17.5 pounds.
- Start in a seated position on the machine with your back flat against the backrest and your legs underneath the pad. Make any necessary adjustments to the pad so that it's right above your ankle.
- With your right leg still bent at a 90-degree angle, grip the side handles while maintaining a relaxed upper-body position.
- Using your left quadriceps, begin to extend your left leg until it is fully extended. Hold for one second.
- Slowly lower back down to your start position.
- That's one rep.
- Repeat for three sets of eight for each leg.
*To modify this exercise, extend both legs at the same time and increase the weight to 20 to 30 pounds.
How Long Should You Wait to Work Out After Eating?
How you space out meals during the course of the day might not make a big difference in the calorie department, but it has huge implications on your workout performance. Not only can ineffectively fueling your body hinder your performance, but also, eating too much before exercise can interfere with your goals. When it comes to eating before exercise, it's all about timing.
No matter what time of day you choose to exercise, make sure to plan your workout two to three hours after your meal. Going overboard with too much food right before a workout will leave you feeling sluggish and can lead to stomach discomfort. The last thing you want is your workout habits to hinder your digestion process.
If it's been a few hours since your last meal, then most experts agree that you should eat a small snack one hour before your workout to properly fuel your body. A combination of carbs and a little protein, all under 200 calories, will do the trick. If you're not sure what constitutes a good choice, then check out these healthy pre-workout snacks for inspiration. And if you're going for an early workout session, then remember that exercising on an empty stomach - even when you first wake up - isn't ideal. It might feel tough to eat first thing in the morning, but fueling your body with proper nutrients is essential for your workout. Consider one of these light breakfast snacks you can enjoy an hour before your morning workout.
If You Want Stronger Abs, Do This Bodyweight Workout ASAP
Whatever the season, there's no denying the benefit of a strong core. And while a sculpted six-pack is about as coveted to the average woman as finding a partner who will look at her the way Justin Timberlake looks at Jessica Biel, there are a slew of other benefits to having a powerful midsection. A solid set of muscles will help you perform virtually every movement, from standing properly to carrying your purse or grocery bag up a flight of stairs. Plus, it can help stave off pain in other areas of the body, like your shoulders, hips, and back.
Newsflash: you can build core strength on your own, no equipment required. Here, Alex Silver-Fagan, Nike master trainer, offers up her 10-minute, no-equipment workout that'll give you abs of steel in no time.
The Workout
Do each exercise for 40 seconds, resting 20 seconds between each one. Repeat the sequence once.
Plank to Pike
- Start in a plank position with your hands directly under your shoulders. Do not allow your lower back to arch. Keep your feet, pelvis, and shoulders in one long line.
- On an exhale, pull your abs deeply to your spine and use your abs to fold your body in half, shifting forward slightly onto your toes as your glutes raise into the air. Your back will become perpendicular to the floor, like a handstand. Allow your head to fall between your arms, keeping your neck long and in line with your spine.
- Lower yourself back into a plank position and do not allow your pelvis to sag below your shoulders for one rep. Repeat.
Alternating V-Up
- Lie face up with arms and legs extended and resting on the floor. Keep abs tight and lift your right hand to meet your left toe above your torso.
- Lower your arm and leg back to the floor. Repeat on the opposite side for one rep. Continue, alternating sides.
Side Plank With Knee Drive
- Begin in a side elbow plank with your left arm down and your right hand extended above your head, bicep by the ear.
- Keeping your torso stable and your waist lifted, bring your right leg up toward your shoulder to lightly tap your right elbow. Lengthen your right leg back to the starting position to complete one rep.
- Do this for 40 seconds; repeat on the opposite side.
Bear Plank With Shoulder Tap
- Start in a tabletop position. Engage your core and lift your knees to hover one inch above the ground.
- Keeping your hips level, tap your right hand to your left shoulder. Slowly lower back to start.
- Repeat on the opposite side for one rep. Continue, alternating sides.
11 Signs You May Have Alcohol Use Disorder, and When You Should Seek Help
Enjoying a glass of wine at dinner or a few drinks on the weekend is usually no cause for concern; many people can drink in moderation and continue to live happy, successful lives. Some people, however, can't just stop with one or two drinks - they find that alcohol interferes with their everyday life and often leads them into dangerous situations. If you fall in the latter group, you may be one of the 16 million US adults who have alcohol use disorder (AUD).
Alcohol use disorder is newly defined in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM-5, the handbook used by healthcare professionals in the United States to diagnose mental disorders. The previous edition, DSM-4, outlined two different disorders: alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence. The DSM-5, however, integrates the two into one disorder called alcohol use disorder.
To be diagnosed with AUD, you must meet two of the 11 criteria outlined in the DSM-5 and must have experienced symptoms within the last 12 months. The level of severity of the disorder depends on how many symptoms you have. The criteria are:
- Drinking more or longer than you intended.
- Trying to cut back or stop drinking more than once but couldn't.
- Spent a lot of time drinking, being sick from drinking, or getting over other aftereffects.
- Wanted a drink so badly you couldn't think of anything else.
- Found that drinking (or being sick from drinking) often interfered with taking care of your home or family, caused job troubles, or school problems.
- Continued to drink even though it was causing you trouble with family and friends.
- Given up or cut back on activities that were important or interesting to you in order to drink.
- More than once gotten into situations while or after drinking that increased your chances of being hurt, such as driving, swimming, using machinery, walking in a dangerous area, or having unsafe sex.
- Continued to drink even though it was making you feel depressed or anxious or adding to another health problem, or after having a memory blackout.
- Had to drink much more than you once did to get the effect you want, or found that your usual number of drinks had much less effect than before.
- Found that when the effects of alcohol were wearing off, you had withdrawal symptoms, such as trouble sleeping, shakiness, restlessness, nausea, sweating, a racing heart, or a seizure, or seeding things that were not there.
The presence at least two of these symptoms means you have an AUD. If you have two to three symptoms, it's considered mild; four to five symptoms is considered moderate; six or more symptoms is considered severe. If you don't fall into the severe category, a mild diagnosis can still warrant concern, as it may be the start of a larger problem.
If you think you may have AUD, be sure to seek treatment from a medical professional. Your primary care physician or a psychiatrist can formally assess your condition and outline a proper course of treatment. The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism also has resources for finding and getting help through its website.

Widow of Pulse Nightclub Shooter Found Not Guilty on All Counts
On March 30, Noor Salman was acquitted by a federal jury of helping her husband, Omar Mateen, carry out the 2016 Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, FL. Salman was found not guilty of aiding and abetting the commission of a terrorist act and obstructing justice, according to The New York Times. Salman had been accused of giving police misleading statements during an interview following the worst terrorist attack on American soil since the Sept. 11 attacks.
"I wish I had done the right thing but my fear held me back. I wish I had been more truthful," she wrote in a statement to the FBI that was read aloud during her trial.
Mateen's deadly spree claimed the lives of 49 people and left 53 injured before he was killed in a shootout with local police. The jury in Salman's case deliberated for over three days before reaching a verdict. "We are so grateful to them, so grateful for their verdict," a spokesperson for Salman's family said outside the courthouse. "She can go home now and try to pick up the pieces."
Salman's defense attorney, Linda Moreno, positioned Salman as a victim of abuse, saying, "Omar Marteen is a monster. Noor Salman is a mother, not a monster. Her only sin is she married a monster."
Assistant United States attorney Sarah C. Sweeney, who was part of the prosecution team, thanked the jurors for their services. "We respect their verdict," she said. The Founder of the onePULSE foundation, Barbara Poma, released a statement echoing Sweeney's statement.
"I respect the criminal justice process, and we all have to trust that the jury made its decision free of bias and emotion. Those of us directly affected by this tragedy must find peace in our hearts and remember that he was the one who pulled the trigger that night. He was the perpetrator, and he should not have one more minute of power over our lives," she stated. "This verdict cannot and will not divide us. The survivors, families, and first responders, as well as the community of Orlando and everyone around the world, must now focus on the work ahead of us. We will always carry the pain of what happened at Pulse, and we will never forget those who were taken. We will wrap our arms around all affected today and in the days to come. It will be difficult, but we will focus now on healing, and we will continue to work to help communities emerge from violence and hate. It is as important today as it was 21 months ago."

How an Award-Winning Broadway Designer Uses Costumes to Tell an Entirely Different Story on Stage
Image Source: Getty / Dia Dipasupil
I've seen quite a few Broadway shows in my day. I consider myself a huge fan of theater and feel fortunate to frequent the Great White Way. While I have a deep appreciation for every last musical and play, once in a while, for one reason or another, a show will stay with me long after the final bow. Most recently, it was the show Once on This Island, and beyond the singing and the acting and the atmosphere and the story, one thing really stood out: the costumes.
Image Source: Getty / Dimitrios KambourisClint Ramos
Clint Ramos, the mastermind behind the costumes for the 2017 revival of the show, told an entire tale of his own through the clothes the characters wore in each scene. "The creative team went to Haiti to take pictures, so every costume you see is based on a real picture of a real person in Haiti," he told POPSUGAR. "It was a matter of taking those photographs and going to find those clothes, but in some instances, we made them. Then we took them and distressed them to make them look like they'd been worn forever."
Once on This Island tells a story within a story, all of which unfolds on the island of Haiti. The folktale at the heart of the plot is centered on a poor girl named Ti Moune, who falls in love with a rich boy from the other side of the island. To help her along the way are four island gods, and they - along with their costumes - are the true stars of this show.
The creative team drew heavily on Haiti's recent hurricane devastation to craft the sets and the costumes, and that fact is apparent from top to bottom. For the gods in particular, Ramos set out to tell Haiti's story through the evolution of their costumes. "It sort of acknowledges the ravages and detritus as materials to compose the costumes," he said. "Take Papa Ge [the Demon of Death]; it's, like, this crazy homeless person who is collecting Coca-Cola cans for recycling in the beginning, and we reconstituted the cans as the god's spiked spine. And she's originally seen with her goat and [the god's] horns are fashioned after that."
During the parts of the show where the main characters are not gods, they are portrayed as commoners in Haiti - but each costume references the other. For Asaka, Mother of the Earth, she begins by taking care of the townspeople and feeding them. As she transforms into the goddess role, her costume turns into a ballgown made of a tablecloth and the same athletic jersey from the beginning. Ramos wanted to be sure to have subtle nods between the characters so the audience could really connect them.
That was not the case, though, with Ti Moune's iconic red dress - the costume that she wears throughout the story. It starts as a plain red sundress, but ultimately evolves into different dresses as the story progresses. "As she gains divinity, as she becomes more and more pronounced in the musical, ultimately ending up being a goddess, why not make that red dress grow and transform into different things?" Ramos said of her ever-evolving costume.
"I'm an immigrant, so I love those stories about being an outsider trying to fit in and make sense of their new world."
The costumes on display in Once on This Island are what's generating buzz right now, and it's with good reason - it's far from Ramos's first foray into Broadway costume design. In fact, he took home the Tony Award for his work in the play Eclipsed, written by Danai Gurira and starring Lupita Nyong'o. Eclipsed tells the real story of five Liberian women trying to survive the Second Liberian Civil War. "Part of my job was to honor these women," Ramos noted. "And the only way I could honor them was to make sure that I got the way they appeared right."
The creative team for Eclipsed, like Once on This Island, went to Africa for background research and shot photos for Ramos to work with when designing his costumes. "We created this ironic dissonance with these mundane American t-shirts mixed with this traditional African garb. For instance, you'd see a photograph of a woman running because her village is being burned and she's wearing a traditional African skirt, yelling for help, but she's wearing this old giveaway t-shirt from a f*cking dental office in Ohio," he said. Ramos also noted that so many of the clothes in Africa were American discards and described a level of "f*cked-upness" that's almost hard to imagine.
Ramos, who is a Filipino immigrant, said that Eclipsed was one of his favorite projects ever because he feels drawn to stories that have a message of change. "I'm an immigrant, so I love those stories about being an outsider trying to fit in and make sense of their new world," he said, referencing the struggles the characters face in Eclipsed. "That show was also the first time in Broadway history that the creative team and cast were all black women, so it's an extremely important show." And as the first person of color to take home the Tony for costume design, that message is one that resonates deeply within him.
You can see Ramos's work live on Broadway now in Once on This Island.
Everything You Need to Know About Gordon Ramsay's New Hell's Kitchen Restaurant in Vegas
Gordon Ramsay has 34 restaurants around the world, but none are quite like the new Hell's Kitchen-themed restaurant that just opened in Las Vegas. Located at Caesars Palace, Hell's Kitchen is an 8,000-square-foot restaurant that combines elements of the TV show with Gordon Ramsay's signature dishes for a truly unique dining experience. I got to dine at the restaurant during the grand opening and sit down with Gordon to talk about the exciting, much-anticipated destination.
"The location is extraordinary. I do have to pinch myself," he told POPSUGAR. Fans of the Fox show, which is currently in its 17th season, will recognize items and themes from the Hell's Kitchen set throughout the restaurant. The meticulously designed space has red and blue details throughout, and the cooks in the kitchen wear the same red and blue jackets and bandanas, mimicking the competitive environment in a bustling, open kitchen ablaze with onscreen flames. The difference is this isn't a show. "There's no f*cking around in here. It's the real deal," Gordon said. You'll find pitchforks throughout the restaurant, too, from the bathroom door handles to the custom napkins. It's themed, but it's most definitely "not a theme park," Gordon said sternly.
Led by executive chef Jennifer Murphy, the kitchen is turning out pan-seared scallops, braised short ribs, lobster risotto, baked macaroni and cheese with smoked Gouda, herb-crusted rack of lamb, beef Wellington, and much more as quickly as possible. Come hungry, because there's a lot to eat - and all of it is as perfectly cooked as you'd hope. Expectations are high, and when season 17 of Hell's Kitchen All Stars wraps, the winner will be named head chef.
This is a must-visit restaurant for every Gordon Ramsay and Hell's Kitchen superfan, but make no mistake: securing a spot during your trip to Vegas will take some planning. After the restaurant opened up reservations in mid-January, the bookings came flooding in - 25,000 of them, to be exact. Hell's Kitchen fits approximately 300 guests and is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. It stays open an hour later on Friday and Saturday, so you do have options, and walk-ins are welcome if there is room. But reservations are recommended, and if you can't access your preferred date online, you can call the restaurant directly and book as far in advance as you'd like.

And Now, a Hilarious Theory About This Year's White House Easter Bunny
On April 2, Donald Trump hosted the White House's annual Easter Egg Roll, a tradition that stretches back 140 years. While it's fun to take a look at all the action, ranging from the egg rolling to the cookie decorating, one particular question seemed to linger over the event: who was wearing the bunny suit?
According to the Washington Post, the appearance of the Easter Bunny is a more recent tradition compared to the legacy of the event itself. The character has historically been played by a White House staffer, with John E. Nidecker, a former White House aide, being one of the first to don the costume during the Nixon administration. Since then, many a staffer has hopped into the suit to bring joy (and maybe some nightmares) to the children in attendance.
Here's where a fun new conspiracy theory comes in: former press secretary Sean Spicer has actually donned the suit before; he took on the job during the second Bush administration. Spicer even acknowledged that it gets pretty hot in the suit, and "early morning is key" when it comes to claiming your shift. Which begs the question: if Spicer has so much intel about the ins and outs of portraying the White House Easter Bunny, exactly how many times has he donned the suit?
As pictures of this year's event began rolling in (pun intended), many couldn't help but wonder if Spicer was in the bunny suit, given his history with the character. Sure, he may not be working for the White House anymore, but we imagine he might hop at the opportunity to do his old coworkers a solid. Hey, stranger things have happened. While the identity of the 2018 Easter Bunny is still more or less a mystery, allow us to join the chorus of tweets that are pinning it on good ol' "Spicey."

6 Reasons Chemistry Is a Necessity For Relationships
Chemistry is without question the most important thing in a relationship. One could argue that things like trust, respect, and mutual understanding are more important, but I beg to differ. You can learn to be respectful, you can learn to understand someone, and it takes time for someone to earn your trust. However, you simply cannot manufacture chemistry.
You can participate in hundreds of "good on paper" relationships that have zero chemistry. Trust me - I've tried it. However, in every single relationship we begin, we notice the presence or absence of the "sparks" more than we notice anything about our new fling.
So what the hell is it, and how do you find it? Lucky for you, I have spent YEARS upon years trying to figure this one out, and I consider myself a chemistry expert. I will vie for chemistry in a relationship over all other qualities. I'm truly fascinated by it and have found myself under its mysterious prowess many times. So much so that if you put every single guy in a room who I've felt chemistry with, you would find a very physically and emotionally diverse group. Chemistry truly has no requirements and no bounds, and it's seemingly blind. It just is.
On the hunt for some real answers about my number one relationship must have, I sought counsel from a therapist who patiently explained this mysterious, amazing thing to me. The "honeymoon phase" is actually a real thing. It's called limerence.
Limerence refers to the early stages of love, which can last anywhere from two months to 10 years. Besides dying for the 10-year plan, I was still intrigued to know more. Apparently, this is the time when two people are so straight-up nuts over each other, they cannot think of anything else or even make rational thoughts. This phase is absolutely critical for a relationship to work for the long term. In order for you to move on to the next phase, the "trust-building phase," you both have to know that you achieved the limerence phase.
So, beyond limerence, what else is there to know about chemistry?
Chemistry has absolutely nothing to do with looks. Having the option to be with someone ridiculously hot and yet feeling no spark is honestly devastating. It has happened to us all. I'd also be willing to bet we have all also experienced mad chemistry with someone who isn't our textbook type. How many couples do you know who look insanely into each other, but yet in the looks department aren't quite equal? Chemistry does not discriminate.
Chemistry lays the foundation of your desire for each other.
Chemistry does not fade. Want proof? Ask my mom. After I dumped yet another great guy for lack of chemistry, she said to me so plainly, "But the butterflies are so important; I still get them when I see your dad pull in the driveway," and that's after 32 years of marriage. #Goals. Think about it: we all have at least one couple in our lives who, no matter how long they have been together, when you see them, their chemistry is so obvious and intoxicating, you know it won't fade and that it will likely bring them through any challenges they face as a couple.
You can really like a person but still have no chemistry. God, I hate this tiny little fact. It doesn't matter if they have the exact job, family, personality, and physical features you've always dreamed of; they still might not give you the sparks. Chemistry is that one intangible thing that trumps all of that. It can be missing from even the most seemingly "perfect" relationships, which definitely sucks.
You absolutely must have chemistry from the get-go. Reread the part about limerence above if you need a refresher. That phase has to come before all of the other phases. Chemistry lays the foundation of your desire for each other. Limerence is what separates you from being lovers or being just friends. If you move straight to the trust-building phase, you cannot go back to the limerence phase. One simply must come before the other.
Do not settle for anything less than butterflies.
Chemistry is just the beginning of what's to come. When you FINALLY have this insane chemistry with someone, you want to not only keep it, but also to grow it into a full-fledged relationship. Now is when you start to develop respect, communication, and trust in your relationship. These things come from two people who are so chemically drawn to each other, they have no choice in their mind but to make it work, so that is exactly what they do. They take the time to make it work, rather than throw it away when things get hard, because they know and remember the initial chemistry and the chemistry they still have. They just can't live without that.
It's more than just physical. Yes, chemistry does feed the desire to be around each other and all over each other all the time, but the type of chemistry that will lead to the best relationships is more than just sex. It's feeling excited to do just about anything with them, even the mundane tasks like doing the laundry. Everything is just better when that special person is with you.
To sum it up, chemistry is an absolute necessity for a successful relationship. And above all, it is worth waiting for. Do not date someone you aren't in limerence with, and do not settle for anything less than butterflies.

A Thank You Letter to Betsy DeVos From a Public School Teacher
Thank you, Betsy.
That sounds strange coming from a public school teacher of 15 years. Indeed, after a day of teaching fourth graders, who are diverse in every way and whose future is now in your control, saying thank you is the last thing I thought I'd say today. But thanks. On Feb. 7, 50 Republican senators voted for you, you who would not have made the cut to be hired as a tutor for their own children. Thank you, Betsy, for showing me money has power, but not over all.
I don't know if I feel worse for the senators who sold out because of the money you gave them or for the ones who sold out for free. But not everybody let their vote be bought, and that gives me hope.
Thanks, Betsy, for by showing me my fears, you clarified my beliefs. Yes, you inspire a lot of fears in me . . . will class size grow? Will Title I be cut? Will English For Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) services disappear? Will special education be decimated? How will my job change? Will my students have the same opportunities for college as my generation?
Through clarifying my beliefs, you triggered my actions. Thank you for giving me more solidarity with my co-workers, friends, family, and world. In our mutual sorrow at your lack of credentials, we came together. On Tuesday, I did not eat while grading papers or planning lessons. I sat with my co-workers as we mourned the loss of our voice. During the fight to block your confirmation, so many teachers, students, and parents spoke up while calls and letters to senators were ignored and protests delegitimized.
My union never lit a fire beneath me - but you did. Thank you.
Thank you, Betsy, for inflaming my disappointment in our government. Mr. Rogers taught us to look for the helpers in any time of darkness. But it was you who made it dark enough for me to look.
I watched hours of CSPAN listening to thoughtful testimony of so many education advocates and became obsessed with ordering a bound copy of Monday night's incredible congressional record. I have never before felt so political or so united behind my party. Now I want to donate money, support the candidates I believe in, organize . . . the sky is the limit. My union never taught me this, never lit a fire beneath me - but you did. Thank you.
More than anything, I want to teach. I want to continue to teach my fourth graders that citizenship means respect for all and a responsibility for each other, to read critically, to value being informed. I want to teach them that a million small efforts will eventually be more powerful than one large campaign check. And I want to teach them that America will always return to freedom, no matter how much corruption tries to reign.
So, thank you, and good luck to you. You have no clue what you just signed up for.

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky Literally Squeeze in Some PDA During a Beach Day With Matt Damon
Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky celebrated Easter weekend with their family in Australia, and in between spending time on the beach with close pals Matt and Luciana Damon, the couple managed to squeeze in some sweet alone time - literally. As they relaxed on the sand, drinking beers with friends, Chris came over to hug and kiss his wife of seven years, who reached out to him while showing off her fit frame in a black bikini. The Avengers: Infinity War star also grabbed a handful of Elsa's backside as they smooched.
Chris and Elsa are currently stationed in Chris's native Australia with their three kids, daughter India and twins Tristan and Sasha. On Sunday, the family of five joined up with Matt, Luciana, and their four daughters for a fun-filled day in the ocean. Keep reading to see Chris and Elsa's PDA pictures.
You Need Confidence to Wear Elsa Pataky's Little Black Bikini, and Oh Baby, She Has It
Elsa Pataky and husband Chris Hemsworth got in some beach time with their family at Bryon Bay in Australia. Elsa, every bit the bohemian goddess, opted for a bandeau-style black Juillet bikini with ribbing detail. While she tied her top into a tight knot, letting the strings hang down casually, Elsa's itsy-bitsy, strappy bottom hugged her curves and directed attention to her toned booty.
The 41-year-old Spanish actress and supermodel layered pendant necklaces and wore a stack of gold jewelry, achieving an ethereal look sans makeup. Her two-piece, while not vibrant in color or avant-garde in shape, certainly made a statement - "all eyes on my bum, please" - and there is nothing wrong with that. Read on to catch another glimpse, then shop Elsa's exact suit along with similar options that will make you feel confident enough to send out the same message.
Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling's Kids Pick Out Their Own Outfits: "I Let Them Win That Battle"
It sounds like Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are superchill parents to daughters, Esmeralda, 4, and Amada, 2 - at least when it comes to what they wear. The 44-year-old fashion mogul recently spoke to E! News about picking her battles with her daughters.
"Thank God there's no fashion talk. But I let them wear whatever they want," she said while promoting The Eva Mendes Collection for New York & Company. "They have the right . . . [if] they want to wear jammies all day or if they want to go in a costume to the market, I let them do that stuff. I let them win that battle. That's the easy one. I'm trying to get them to eat broccoli. That's the one I want to win. They can wear whatever they want."
Even though Eva is busy parenting two toddlers, she doesn't let that stop her from always looking put together. "Even though I have less time to think about what I'm wearing for my day or how to put something together, I think of it more in a sense of even if I'm not with my kids, I'm always representing them. It's always on my mind," she said. "I'm somebody's mother, and I need to act accordingly. There's an intense amount of pressure that I feel, but it's good pressure."
What You Should Smell Like, According to Your Zodiac Sign
Lately, it seems like you can rep your zodiac sign in all aspects of your beauty routine. You can match your favorite highlighter or lipstick to your star sign, or take a page out of artist Setareh Hosseini's beauty book and dress up as your horoscope for Halloween. And now, the trend has come for your shower thanks to Spongellé's Zodiac Body Buffer Collection.
You probably know (and plan your love life around) the zodiac. Spongellé has broken up all 12 horoscopes into their respective elements to create celestial scrubs tailor-made to suit your sign.
Here's a quick crash course in astrology for those who only relate to Earth, Wind, and Fire on the dance floor. Air includes Aquarius, Libra, and Gemini; Earth includes Capricorn, Virgo, and Taurus; Fire includes Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius; and Water includes Pisces, Cancer, and Scorpio.
The scrub's lather omits a fragrance that's set to suit your sign. It can be reused for up to 15 times, or about half of your birth month. Read on to see what you should be smelling like, according to the Zodiac.
Gwen Stefani's Launching a Makeup Line, and We're Going Bananas
Gwen Stefani has always been one to experiment with her look. For example, she dyed her hair all colors of the rainbow until settling on her signature blonde locks. And since Gwen loves to play around with her makeup, it's no surprise she's about to launch her own line.
The 48-year-old singer dipped her toe into the beauty biz back in 2018, when she collaborated on a limited-edition collection with Urban Decay, but Gwen is reportedly ready to dive all the way in. According to TMZ, Gwen applied to trademark P8NT - pronounced "paint" - for her line.
The range will include powders, lipsticks, eyeliners, nail polishes, hair dye, and perfume. She's also getting into skincare with sunscreens and moisturizers. There's no more information available on her new business venture, but the minute we know more, you will, too.
These 20 Treatments For Thinning Hair Actually Work - According to Pros
If you've noticed your hair thinning, you're not alone. "As a salon owner and hairstylist, thinning hair and hair loss are the top concerns of my clients. They all ask me how can they achieve thicker, fuller hair while finding a way to get hair to regrow," says Gabriel Samra, a celebrity hairstylist.
That said, being in good company isn't exactly comforting when you're literally watching your hair wash down the drain. While some hair loss might indicate a deeper medical issue and therefore need to be treated by a doctor, it could be due to stress or poor hair health (see here for a list of common causes), in which case hair experts say you can take matters into your own hands.
From supplements to fillers (it's like Botox for your hair), read on for some of the innovative and sometimes unusual (gelatin, anyone?) products they recommend to clients seeking thicker hair. Some of these picks have proven so successful that the experts have incorporated them into their own regimens.
One of Kim Kardashian's Favorite Mascaras Costs Just $6
Beauty editors, makeup artists and, it turns out, even Kardashians, have been known to swear by drugstore mascara. We can relate; it's hard to justify dropping more than $10 on a product with such a short shelf life. (Mascara should be replaced every three months.) Luckily, you need not look further than your local drugstore aisle to find some amazing mascaras. Even Kim Kardashian, who once made $14 million in three hours (and thus has plenty of coin to drop on lash care), swears by a $6 mascara.
In a recent post on her app, Kim copped to being "obsessed" with the L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black ($6). "I've been using this product for years!" she wrote. "The color is the perfect shade of black and it really lifts and separates each lash."
For Kim, a big pro of this mascara is its versatility. As she wrote, "It's perfect for an everyday look, or you can layer on multiple coats for a more dramatic effect." Even her makeup artist and newest collaborator Mario Dedivanovic loves it, too.
We dig this drugstore mascara because it provides an intense, jet-black pigment without leaving a clumpy, spidery effect on lashes. It also has a thin wand, which makes it super easy to swipe on - with a little practice, you can even apply it without a mirror. We'll take 20, please.
8 Great Moisturizers That Are Positively Packed With Good Stuff
As temperatures drop, air humidity takes a significant dip and, combined with cold winds, hot showers, and indoor heaters, can cause skin to become red, parched, and itchy (ouch!).
"If there is enough inflammation and compromise to the skin barrier, eczema can also be triggered or worsen. It's important that a Winter regimen focus not only on moisturizing, but keeping the skin barrier healthy," says Dr. Melissa Kanchanapoomi Levin, a board-certified dermatologist in NYC.
The key to treating dry skin in the Winter comes down to two ingredient categories: occlusives and humectants.
"Occlusives are ingredients that coat the skin's surface to prevent water from evaporating from the skin's surface, similar to plastic wrap," Dr. Kanchanapoomi Levin explains. "Examples of occlusives are petrolatum, oils, lanolin, and silicones. Humectants are ingredients that bind water and draw water into themselves and onto the surface of the skin, causing the skin to plump up a little bit. Common humectants are glycerin, propylene glycol, urea, and hyaluronic acid."

Tyra Banks Gets Refreshingly Honest About Her Nose Job: "We as Women Need to Stop Judging"
You can always count on Tyra Banks to keep it real, and her recent comments about her nose job are no exception. The America's Next Top Model host underwent rhinoplasty years ago, and she's opening up about when and why in an exclusive interview with People. While Tyra fully embraces the cosmetic procedure and supports anyone's decision to do whatever makes them feel good (Yes, girl!), she says the initial reason she went through with it early in her career isn't entirely related to appearance.
"I had bones in my nose that were growing and itching," Tyra tells People. "I could breathe fine, but I added cosmetic surgery. I admit it! Fake hair, and I did my nose. I feel I have a responsibility to tell the truth."
Tyra adds: "Natural beauty is unfair. I get really uncomfortable when women who are these natural beauties judge anybody who does anything to themselves."
Tyra, whose memoir Perfect Is Boring is out in April, says she doesn't judge people's decisions to wear makeup, ditch makeup, or "fix" things they may not feel comfortable with - temporarily or permanently.
"You want a hair weave? Fine. You want permanent eyebrows? Fine. We as women need to stop judging," Tyra preaches in the interview. The queen of smizing shares more in this week's issue of People, on newsstands March 30.
People Think Anna Wintour's Leaving Vogue, and the Rumors Are Spreading Like Wildfire
Anna Wintour has been at the helm of Vogue magazine since 1988, largely establishing herself as a representation of fashion itself. So when rumors began to swirl that Anna would reportedly leave the publication following the wedding of her daughter, Bee Shaffer, in July 2018, the story picked up steam on social media and quickly garnered plenty of buzz.
Page Six went so far as to name Anna's potential successors at the media company, but both The Cut and Page Six have since confirmed that spokespeople for Condé Nast are denying the news, stating that "there's zero truth to the story." We will continue to monitor the details and keep you updated - we pinky promise.
Melania Trump Whipped Out Her Pastel Trench Coat For the Easter Egg Roll
Melania Trump seems to be following a dress code for the annual Easter Egg roll at the White House: stick to pastels. In 2017, she styled a sugar-pink, floaty maxi dress with a pair of matching flats, and this year, Melania opted for powder blue. The FLOTUS chose the Sandringham Burberry coat ($2,595), a classic choice when it comes to trenches.
Given her arsenal of designer outerwear, we aren't surprised to see Melania's stocked a double-breasted jacket in a pastel shade. The colorway is one of 2018's biggest trends, after all. Ahead, read on to see how Melania styled the number with J Brand jeans and suede knee-high boots, then shop her exact design or a similar option at a more affordable price point.

Your Handy Guide to Decoding Who The Weeknd's New Songs Are About
Image Source: Getty / Kevin Mazur, George Pimental
Did The Weeknd take a page out of Taylor Swift's book when writing the songs for his new EP, My Dear Melancholy? It certainly seems like it. The Canadian singer, née Abel Tesfaye, debuted six new songs on Thursday night, and many of them have pretty big nods to ex-girlfriends Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid. While it seems like he could potentially be trying to win back the supermodel, the lyrics about Gomez range from mournful to straight-up scathing given how their relationship ended (she started dating ex Justin Bieber almost immediately). Overall My Dear Melancholy is a dark, beautiful addition to The Weeknd's discography, but if you're interested in decoding who, exactly, his songs are about, join us as we go through the album, line by line.
"Call Out My Name"
- "We found each other / I helped you out of a broken place / You gave me comfort / But falling for you was my mistake" - Selena Gomez
- "I claimed you so proud and openly / And when times were rough, when times were rough / I made sure I held you close to me" - Selena Gomez
- "I want you to stay, even though you don't want me / Girl, why can't you wait? / Girl, why can't you wait 'til I fall out of love?" - Selena Gomez
- "Guess I was just another pit stop / 'Til you made up your mind / You just wasted my time" - Selena Gomez
Oh boy. The first song on My Dear Melancholy goes straight for the jugular. Gomez's jugular, to be specific. The line about helping someone "out of a broken place" sure seems like a reference to her ongoing health and mental health struggles, as well as her recovery from a kidney transplant surgery. It could also be interpreted as a nod to her roller-coaster romance with ex-boyfriend Bieber. The real kicker comes when The Weeknd makes it clear that whoever he's singing about was a "mistake." Harsh.
"Try Me"
- "Don't you mess with me / The way I kissed your scars / The way I fixed your heart / Don't you mess with me, babe" - Selena Gomez
- "You're the best I ever had / Baby girl, remind me" - Bella Hadid
- "You're lookin' grown since the last time I looked at you / It might have been, been about a couple months / But I just got the picture that you texted to me" - Bella Hadid
Kissing scars? That has to be a nod to Gomez's kidney transplant surgery, which left her with a literal scar on her leg. As for lyrics like "You're the best I ever had" and "It might have been, been about a couple months," both check out when it comes to his relationship with Hadid (he was photographed leaving her apartment in November 2017, FYI). We'll probably never know what was in that picture she texted to him, unfortunately.
"I Was Never There"
- "Ooh, when no one know what love is / And I know it ain't you for sure / You'd rather something toxic / So, I poison myself again, again" - Selena Gomez
Gomez's unstable on-again, off-again relationship with Bieber has been highly publicized for years, and labeling it "toxic" definitely wouldn't be out of place. The lyric "I know it ain't you for sure" hints that The Weeknd learned something from their relationship, at least.
"Hurt You"
- "And now I know relationship's my enemy / So stay away from me / I'm warning you / You try to fill the void with every man you meet" - Selena Gomez
- "When you're with him, you close your eyes and think of me / Just call me up again" - Selena Gomez
Since her split from Bieber, Gomez has been linked to musicians like Charlie Puth, Zedd, and obviously The Weeknd. There's nothing wrong with dating multiple guys (we can't even be sure which of those relationships were legit, other than her courtship with The Weeknd), but that's likely what the singer means with the lyric "You try to fill the void with every man you meet." As for the second line, it almost sounds like Gomez has reached out to her former beau since moving on - and then breaking up - with Bieber.
"Wasted Times"
- "Wasted times I spent with someone else / She wasn't even half of you" - Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez
- "And now I'm askin', who do you belong to now? / Who you give that love to now? / Who you pullin' up on? / Who you gettin' sprung for now? / And what they got that I ain't got? 'Cause I got a lot" - Bella Hadid
- "These girls only want you when you're winnin' / But you've been with me from the beginnin' / And I know right now that we're not talkin' / I hope you know this dick is still an option" - Bella Hadid
- "You were equestrian, so ride it like a champion" - Bella Hadid
"Wasted Times" is the one track on My Dear Melancholy that most explicitly references Hadid. It starts by taking another shot at Gomez ("She wasn't even half of you," oof), and then goes on to wonder if Hadid is single (the 21-year-old model has been notoriously tight-lipped about her private life since their breakup in 2016). The most obvious reference to her, however? It's gotta be "You were equestrian, so ride it like a champion." Not only has Hadid ridden horses for years, but her passion for horseback riding was so intense that she even considered competing in the Olympics at one point.
"Privilege"
- "Enjoy your privileged life / 'Cause I'm not gonna hold you through the night / We said our last goodbyes / So, let's just try to end it with a smile" - Selena Gomez
- "And I don't wanna hear that you are suffering / You are suffering no more / 'Cause I held you down when you were suffering" - Selena Gomez
- "They said our love is just a game, I don't care what they say / But I'ma drink the pain away, I'll be back to my old ways" - Selena Gomez
"I held you down when you were suffering" could be another reference to the way he helped Gomez through some trying times over the course of their relationship. As for "They said our love is just a game," we're guessing it's meant to put the people who speculated that they were only dating for the publicity on blast.

27 People Who Are Definitely Not OK With Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's Tragic Split
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan are separating after nine years of marriage, and as far as some people are concerned, love is dead. As soon as the parents to 4-year-old Everly announced the sad news on Monday via statements on Instagram, the internet essentially spiraled out of control, and fans made it very clear they are not happy about it.
Channing and Jenna met when they auditioned for Step Up in 2006, and ever since they've been one of the cutest Hollywood couples with the sweetest moments. Many people want to remind the actors that it's not April Fools' Day anymore - first Anna Faris and Chris Pratt, and now this?! On the other hand, some people are excited that Channing is apparently a single man again. If you're reeling over the latest celebrity breakup of the year, find solidarity in the following people's tweets that perfectly capture how you feel.
29 Celebrity Couples Who Have Already Called It Quits This Year
It may only be April, but we've already had our fair share of celebrity breakups. While we're certainly hoping we don't reach last year's levels, we've sadly had to come to terms with the fact that some of our favorite couples are no longer together. Shhhh! Emily Blunt and John Krasinski Are Trying to Tell Us Something
John Krasinski and Emily Blunt stepped out for the NYC premiere of their new horror film, A Quiet Place, on Monday night. The couple were all smiles as they met up with their onscreen kids, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds, and struck a few playful poses for photographers - how gorgeous is Emily's Oscar de la Renta gown? Also in attendance for the glamorous night out were Emily and John's friends Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, who shared their own sweet moment on the red carpet.
John Krasinski Gushing About Wife Emily Blunt's "Superpower" Proves He Really Is Her Biggest Fan
This is the first time John and Emily have starred together in a film, and their endeavor is not exactly for the faint of heart: in the thriller (which hits theaters April 6), they star as a family of four living in a remote farmhouse. One of their children shatters a glass, and things are pretty much a living nightmare from there. Luckily, Emily and John are far less of a nightmare in these premiere pictures.
Chris Hemsworth and Matt Damon Spent Easter Sunday Together at the Beach, and It Looked Like a Blast
Chris Hemsworth ditched his shirt for a day at the beach in Byron Bay, Australia, on Sunday. The hunky Marvel star and native Australian was joined by his stunning wife, Elsa Pataky, who showed off her own enviable physique in a bikini, as well as close family friends Matt and Luciana Damon (who also flaunted her insane body in a two-piece). Chris's three kids; daughter India and twin sons Tristan and Sasha, were also in tow, as were Matt and Lucy's daughters, Alexia, Gia, Isabella, and Stella. Chris and Matt caught a few waves together, and at one point, Chris raised his arms to the sun in celebration. Can we talk about those abs, please?!
Chris and Matt have been friends for some time now, and this isn't the first time we've seen the Thor: Ragnarok stars and their families vacationing together. Back in 2012, the actors were photographed having a damn blast while shooting down an inflatable slide, and at this time last year, the Damons joined Chris and his brood Down Under. Keep reading to see their fun Easter outing!
