Any Marvel fan can tell you just how much they love the franchise in any form - especially when it comes to full-scale illustrations of their favorite characters. One artist turned his portraits of Marvel characters into GIFs that are so subtle, you can barely tell they're moving images.

The artist, Mike Mitchell, originally created these pieces of art for a show that ran last year at the Mondo Gallery in Texas. They are completely stunning and definitely capture his feelings for Marvel. "This has easily been the most ambitious project I've ever taken on, and it's due in part to my love for their universe; which is fictional by definition, but real in my mind and in the minds of others," he said to Mondo Tees. It definitely touches fans, considering Mitchell's artwork first made the rounds on Reddit in 2014 and was rising on Imgur a few months ago.

Mariah Carey Bathes in Milk, but These Beauty Products Are Just as Good

Mariah Carey, she of the sizable vocal range and somehow even bigger closet, has a skincare secret. Would you expect the queen to use an ordinary cleanser? Of course not. The mistress of Christmas told The Guardian that she prefers to subdue her entire body in Santa's favorite beverage: milk.

"I bathe in milk," she told the publication. "Yes, sometimes I use milk as a beauty treatment." When pressed for details, the singer played coy: "I don't want to give away all my secrets," she said, but added that she fills her tub with cold, not hot, milk. While we may never really know the exact kind she uses - Could it be skim? Two percent? Almond? - the notion isn't all that uncommon, considering the ingredient has been long touted for its gentle and skin-soothing properties.

Don't have the fridge space to store all the milk required to fill a tub? We've got you. Here, the best milk-infused skincare products - so you can save the stuff for your cereal and still live out your inner diva.

33 Sure Signs That You're an Empath

Do you pick up on the vibe of a room the moment you walk in? Can you almost always tell when someone is lying? Do you just generally have A LOT of feelings? You're probably an empath. You may be familiar with the spectrum of personality types between introverts and extroverts, but empaths are a whole other type of personality you may not know about. Empaths are often (but not always) more introverted, but the key aspect of the personality type is an empath's ability to relate to and absorb the feelings of other people. Empaths are extremely sensitive to their surroundings, and they are very affected by the energies of those around them.

There are positives to being an empath; for instance, they are sympathetic, caring, and understanding. They are intuitive and have the ability to influence the mood and energy around them. Empaths are good listeners and caretakers, and they are known for their compassion for others. However, being an empath definitely has its challenges. Because they are so sensitive, they can sometimes have difficulty differentiating other people's energy from their own. Commercials, movies, books, TV, the news, seeing the struggles of others - anything with an emotional element can affect empaths on a deeper level. Outside circumstances and situations can have a huge impact on the mental - and even physical - state of an empath. Empaths can unconsciously mirror other people's habits and moods, and for better or worse, they can soak up the energy around them. Empaths need to make sure to care for themselves in addition to caring for the rest of the world. Here are some signs you're an empath.

  15. Your mood changes depending on who you're in a room with.
  16. You feel the same feeling around a specific person each time you see them.
  17. You have a big heart.
  18. You constantly seek answers for everything.
  19. You know that your energy can change the atmosphere around you.
  20. You go back and forth between being very expressive and very reclusive.
  21. You sometimes find yourself putting others' needs before your own.
  22. You value your alone time.

  32. You won't let a problem go until you find a satisfying solution.

10 Filipino Foods You Should Know About

Filipinos are the second largest Asian American demographic in the country, yet Filipino food has only just begun receiving mainstream recognition. Maybe it's because the first time you saw Filipino food, it was on an episode of Fear Factor or Bizarre Foods. I was certain that by now, everyone in America must have been invited to a Filipino pot luck, complete with a roasted suckling pig, mountains of lumpia, and plastic take-home containers for all guests to make sure they have baon (leftovers) for the next week. Alas, if you haven't experienced the delights of Filipino food yet, I'm glad to be here to share some dishes from my motherland, hopefully disrupting any exotifying stereotypes mainstream media might have painted otherwise.

This 1 Feature on iOS 11 Could Save Your Life

With the new iOS 11, you can edit screenshots, easily share WiFi passwords, and potentially save your life in the future - all with just a few quick taps. Previously, you could give yourself an extra layer of safety by setting up your medical ID or sharing your location on Find My Friends. Now, on iOS 11, you can push the sleep/wake button five times to immediately call emergency services. It also disables Touch ID and tells any emergency contacts your location and that something might be wrong.

The feature, called "Emergency SOS," will automatically call your local emergency service number. And though it disables Touch ID, any person who tries to use your Touch ID won't get a notification that it's because of "Emergency SOS." If you're worried about your purse accidentally calling emergency services, you can also choose to turn on a "Countdown Sound." It will make it so that if you accidentally set off this feature, your phone will play a loud sound and give you three seconds to stop it from calling emergency services.

While we usually understand putting off playing with new features, this is one that every single person should set up right now. In particular, women across the internet are trying to spread the word about the Emergency SOS, as it could help someone fend off an attacker. Others believe it could save your life if you're in a car accident or in another type of disaster. Ahead, learn how to quickly set it up and then encourage your friends to do the same.

We Don't Know If We're More Floored by This Hawaiian Wedding Venue or the Bride's Gown

This is what destination wedding dreams are made of. Australian couple Alana and Nick officially became husband and wife at Maui's Haiku Mill, a stunning, lush venue that turned out to be a memorable holiday location for them and their guests. "We figured we met overseas, were engaged overseas, let's get married overseas, too!" Alana told their photographer.

The couple met on a tour while sailing through the Croatian Islands and decided to wed in Maui, where they got engaged. Nick proposed at sunrise and arranged a Champagne breakfast and engagement photo shoot to follow. He really planned a romantic day out with a picnic lunch by the water and an evening spa trip.

On their big day, the bride completely stole the show. Even though the wedding venue itself will floor you, you won't be able to keep your eyes off of Alana's gorgeous gown. See the photos now!

The Harry Potter Fan Theory That J.K. Rowling Finds "Strangely Upsetting"

While J.K. Rowling typically entertains - or just doesn't acknowledge - circulating Harry Potter fan theories, she has some pretty strong feelings about one involving Dumbledore and horcruxes.

One of the YouTube vloggers behind SuperCarlinBrothers, Jonathan Carlin, fleshed out a theory that Professor Dumbledore's animal companion, Fawkes, was actually a horcrux - implying that the greatest wizard of all time dabbled in dark magic.

Per Rowling's universe, horcruxes are created to attain immortality. However, they also involve murdering someone else in order to make one. This theory posits that though Dumbledore didn't deliberately murder anyone, he did still harbor guilt over the death of his sister, which he ultimately blamed himself for. Since Dumbledore pinned his sister's murder on his own neglect, he theoretically had a chance to perform dark magic and create a horcrux. You can watch a video about the theory below.

Though Carlin makes a strong case for this theory, Rowling straight up denied it when it was brought to her attention on Twitter - and even went so far as to call it "upsetting."

As other people on Twitter noted, Dumbledore didn't fear death and therefore did not desire immortality. His incomparable goodness also makes it really hard to believe that he would do something so evil in nature. Luckily, we can all let out a sigh of relief and thank Rowling for at least acknowledging this troubling one.

J.K. Rowling Dropped a Clue About Dumbledore's Death Way Sooner Than You Thought

If you consider yourself a Harry Potter expert, you're about to kick yourself and wonder why you never noticed this key element in the books before. Reddit user upyourjuicebox was reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and noticed a detail that suggests J.K. Rowling foreshadowed Dumbledore's death in the third book.

The referenced scene occurs at Hogwarts over Christmas; the sometimes-prophetic Professor Trelawney refuses to sit down at the dinner table because "when 13 people dine together the first to rise will die." Since Ron had his pet rat, Scabbers (who is also an animagus and can turn into the human Peter Pettigrew), in his pocket for most of the book, we can assume that he did during dinner as well. So, when Dumbledore stands to offer Trelawney a seat, he's actually the first person to stand! More evidence that this fan theory is true: both Mad Eye Moody and Sirius Black got up from tables where 13 people sat. Gasp! You can see the theory from the Reddit user below.

A mind blowing theory

This fan's idea seems to coincide with Rowling's favorite fan theory: Dumbledore as an embodiment of death. Whether this theory is true, we're convinced to never stand up from a table of 13.

7 Mistakes You're Likely Making When Concealing Your Under-Eye Area

As a working makeup artist, this is the time of year when people start to worry about how to look more awake. Today alone, on a Thursday morning, I had four back-to-back clients complaining about their under-eye circles. As our tans fade, the stress of real life coupled with fairer skin makes our under-eye area show the damage left from those Summer margaritas and the neglect of our eye area.

Women make so many mistakes (using powder to set, not using a corrector, thinking they can sweep foundation under the eyes, applying their daily face cream around the eyes, using a dry concealer, the list goes on and on) in an attempt to look well-rested. It's an uphill battle, but it can be won. Keep reading to learn how!

She sent the above shot of herself to different global graphic artists, and each photoshopped her hair and makeup look to reflect their cultural take on hair and makeup. If Your Mascara Has Reached This Point, You Should Have Tossed It Long Ago

Mascara is kind of like dairy in the sense that one day it seems perfectly fine, and then - poof! - all of a sudden it's crumbly and weird and definitely needs to be tossed. The truth is that if your mascara has reached this point, well, it's probably been bad for a while. Curious about just how long mascara lasts - and signs that it's time to let it retire - we hit up Georgi Sandev, a celebrity makeup artist who's worked with Victoria's Secret Angels and international brands such as Givenchy, Chanel, and Dior.

"The typical shelf life of mascara is six to eight months from opening it for the first time. If you are using all natural mascara, pay attention to the labels as that shelf life could be shorter," he said. "The easiest way to find out if your mascara is near the end of its life is when the product simply starts to under perform. For example, it feels dry, clumps too much, or just doesn't apply as easily any longer, or [if] the smell of it changes."

Sometimes your mascara may start to go bad before its expiration date, especially if you use it a ton or aren't using or storing it properly. Sandev shared a few tips for extending its life and keeping it in top notch condition.

  • Don't pump the mascara wand into the product when trying to pick it up from the tube. "This causes a lot of air to enter the tube and dries the mascara overtime. Instead try swirling the wand inside the tube," he noted.
  • Wash the wand once every couple of weeks with soap and hot water. He explained, "Overtime, the wand accumulates dry product and when that mixes with the fresh mascara inside the tube, it causes clumps on the lashes and little bits of product falling onto your skin."
  • For non-waterproof mascara, add a couple drops of generic eye drops, then close and shake. "This method works even better if you place the tube in hot water for four to five minutes before you add the drops. Make sure to wash the mascara wand with soap and hot water first."

Miss America Is Ending Its Swimsuit Competition: "We Want to Be Inclusive"

After nearly a century, Miss America is removing the swimsuit competition that has existed since the pageant began. In an interview on Good Morning America on June 5, former Fox News host and Miss America chairwoman Gretchen Carlson announced the major change. "We will no longer judge our candidates on their outward physical appearance. That's huge, and that means that we will no longer have a swimsuit competition," she said.

Gretchen said the change will go into effect in time for the coming Miss America 2019 pageant in Atlantic City on Sept. 9, 2018. The organization will also be "revamping" its evening gown competition. "We're no longer judging women when they come out in their chosen attire, their evening wear," said Gretchen. "Whatever they choose to do, it's going to be what comes out of their mouth that we're interested in."

The announcement comes nearly half a year after Miss America CEO Sam Haskell, President Josh Randle, and several board members all resigned after HuffPost published internal emails that mocked contestants with defamatory language, body shaming, and more. Following the sudden upheaval, Gretchen - who had in the prior year settled a sexual harassment lawsuit with then-Fox News CEO Roger Ailes - was named the new chairwoman. Attorney Regina Hopper has since stepped in as CEO, and the current board of directors is overwhelmingly female-led, consisting of seven women and two men.

When asked if the pageant will be more size-inclusive and diverse moving forward, Gretchen said, "We want to be open, transparent, and inclusive to women who may not have felt comfortable participating in our program before. Look, we have always had talent and scholarship, and we need to message that part of the program better as well." She added, "Tell us about your goals and your achievements in life. At the end of the day, we hand out scholarships to these young women."

Miss America has also been testing out different ways to give back to viewers. Last year, the organization partnered with It's a 10 to give away free hair products to residents of the winner's home state. Following Miss North Dakota Cara Mund's win, approximately 60,996 products were sent out to those who had entered the giveaway.

The Best "Clean" Skincare Products to Stock Up On at Sephora

And the selection has been well worth the wait: from toners to cleansers to moisturizers, we've rounded up the best skincare products that have all been certified "clean" by Sephora. Some are already cult classics, and others are newer discoveries, but either way, they're choices you can feel good about.

6 Red Flags That You Are Buying Makeup That Doesn't Actually Work For You

We all do it. We bought our first foundation when we were in our 20s - and it really worked (then). We loved it, so when it ran out, we bought it again. And again. And again. Before we knew it, we were 35 years old buying something that was no longer the best choice.

I have been a professional makeup artist for 15 years, and I am guilty of it myself. We are tired and busy; we don't have time to sit down and really let a professional try 10 foundations on our jawline, so we just order on Amazon and have it delivered to our door. Yet when makeup doesn't match or doesn't fit our skin type, there's nothing worse. We get stuck in a rut, and we are afraid of change. But our skin and lifestyle has changed, and it's important to remember that what worked when we were 16 doesn't necessarily work when we are 30.

Here are six red flags that prove it's time to reassess the contents of your makeup bag.

Issa Rae and Tracee Ellis Ross Had an Amazing and All Too Real Mid-Flight Hair Moment

There are just some celebrities who, no matter how close to their lives social media makes you feel, you still wish you can jump through the phone screen and hang with in real life. That moment totally happened when everyone's favorite imaginary best friends, Tracee Ellis Ross and Issa Rae, ended up on a flight together headed to NYC for the CFDA Awards. The encounter not only gave us all major FOMO, but it was also a lesson in things black girls do on planes.

Ross recorded the meetup at 30,000 feet, just as the Insecure star and CFDA host was about to wrap her hair up. Most black girls, natural or not, who saw the video probably know exactly what's happening in this totally relatable sitch. The nighttime ritual of anyone with textured strands requires a hair wrap or cover of some kind, in silk or satin, to keep hair smooth and tangle-free. It also helps to prevent breakage.

As demoed by Rae, traveling is no exception - especially when you're on your way to a big event to make history, as the first woman of color to host the awards, like Rae was. This was way too important of a moment to show up with unlaid edges.

Many of us have done the same and wrapped our hair on a flight to preserve the style, and to keep it protected from dry and gross plane air. And of course, if catching a quick nap is in the travel plans, a head scarf is a no-brainer.

The "black girl sh*t," as Rae calls it in the quick video, continued with Ross explaining that her long side braid was also a protective style that she planned to take out when they landed. See, celebs are just like us - and even though it didn't seem possible, we just fell deeper in love with these two.

Rihanna Dressed Like a Metallic Waterfall at the Ocean's 8 Premiere, and We're BIG Fans

Rihanna's used to taking big fashion risks that pay off (ahem, every Met Gala ever), and the Ocean's 8 premiere was no exception.

The 30-year-old singer, entrepreneur, and now actress stepped onto the red carpet on June 5 in a ruffled one-shoulder dress that cascaded down one side, giving a beautiful waterfall effect. She paired her unique gown with delicate strappy purple heels, a BVLGARI watch and earrings, and a matching jeweled clutch. Rihanna is radiant no matter what she wears, but the metallic tint of her dress caused her to shine so brightly at the premiere, she had to catch everyone's eye.
