This Día de los Muertos Wedding Shoot Was Inspired by a Mexican Artist
To celebrate her models' Latinx heritage and culture, photographer Christine Barker chose to orchestrate a gorgeous Día de los Muertos-styled wedding shoot at California's Santa Ana Train Depot. Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday when friends and family gather to honor loved ones who have passed away.
This beautiful shoot was inspired by a 1910 illustration of "La Catrina" by Mexican artist Jose Guadalupe Posada. In fact, if you take a closer look at the invitation, you'll see that it is for Catrina and Jose. The women in the shoot are wearing gorgeous vintage-inspired gowns, and the bride carries a hand-crafted bouquet accentuated with a rosary and black feathers. The groom is wearing a thrifted coat with hand-painted skeleton detailing. Fun fact: that coat was originally worn by Daniel Craig in the James Bond movie Spectre, which explains the impeccable tailoring!
"From the precise makeup to the beautiful rosary on the bouquet to the intricately decorated Calavera on the top of the gorgeous cake, no detail was overlooked," said Barker. The huge effort clearly paid off for this beautiful shoot - keep reading to see the amazing pictures!
Outlander: Why Stephen Bonnet Is 1 of the Worst Villains in the Series
Image Source: Getty / David M Benett
When Outlander returns this Fall with its fourth season, a new character is joining the crew in the form of Stephen Bonnet, played by Downton Abbey alum Ed Speleers. Book readers know that Bonnet is a villain of the darkest kind, and he is about to wreak havoc on the Frasers' lives for several years to come.
But for you non-book-readers who are dying to know how the character plays out, we're here with a guide to the character in the upcoming books/seasons.
Warning: spoilers from books four through six below!
Drums of Autumn
When season four picks up, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) are in Charleston, SC, on their way to a North Carolina plantation owned by Jamie's Aunt Jocasta (Maria Doyle Kennedy). They pause in Charleston to bear witness to the hanging of one of Jamie's men from Ardsmuir Prison so that he won't be alone and can have a proper burial afterward.
But another man is set to be hanged alongside Jamie's friend, and it's here we meet Bonnet. He escapes the gallows and later begs Jamie and his group to help him escape the authorities. Jamie does so, and it's a decision that comes back to haunt him.
First, Bonnet and some fellow criminals rob Jamie and Claire, getting away with Claire's gold wedding ring from her marriage to Frank. Much later, after Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin) have traveled back to 1760s America, Bonnet rapes Brianna when she tries to get her mother's ring back from him. He does give her the ring as "payment" for the rape, but the fallout is that, when Brianna discovers she is pregnant, she doesn't know for sure whether the father is Bonnet or Roger.

Bonnet thwarts death once more in this book when he escapes execution at Cross Creek. Brianna had come there to confront her attacker before his death and ended up revealing that he might be her baby's father. Before he flees for good (in this book at least), Bonnet gives Brianna a diamond to help her care for the baby, which Brianna names Jeremiah (nickname Jemmy) after Roger's father. Roger may or may not be Jemmy's biological father, but he is the man raising Jemmy, so he's the father either way.
The Fiery Cross
Despite Brianna having come to terms with her rape, her father is another story. He is still trying to track down her rapist and make him pay for what he did to Brianna. Roger is supportive of Jamie's plan and asks his father-in-law to train him in fighting so that he may be the one to kill Bonnet.
We don't see the odious man for a while, but eventually he comes upon Claire and young Jemmy and thinks that the young boy is his son. Bonnet reveals that he has been trying to steal gold that is supposedly hidden away on Jocasta's plantation and now he intends to take Jemmy. But before he can, Brianna shoots him in the groin and he flees once again.
A Breath of Snow and Ashes
It is now mid-1773 and the first time we see Bonnet in this book, he is once again trying to get close to Jemmy. He has also become somewhat obsessed with Brianna, eventually having her kidnapped and taken aboard his ship bound for Ocracoke, an island off the coast of North Carolina.
He doesn't attack her again because she's pregnant, but he does make her sleep with him in his bed and reveals some of his personal fears to her. Still, he's a true villain at heart, as he tries to sell Brianna to the highest bidder. Fortunately, her family arrives and rescues her.

Brianna chooses to hand Bonnet over to the authorities rather than dispense punishment herself. He is found guilty and sentenced to death by drowning, which involves tying him to a post in a harbor as the tide comes in. But before he can be completely submerged, Brianna shows him a bit of mercy and shoots Bonnet in the head.
Needless to say, over the next three Outlander seasons, Stephen Bonnet is about to become quite the antagonist for the Fraser clan.
Outlander's fourth season premieres Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Starz.
Zoë Kravitz Couldn't Stop Smiling With Dad Lenny Kravitz During His Exhibition Opening
We've never seen anyone make Lenny Kravitz smile quite like his daughter, Zoë. After participating in a hilarious lip sync battle days earlier, the stunning duo had yet another chance for a sweet family reunion, this time to celebrate the "Dom Perignon & Lenny Kravitz: Assemblage Exhibition" opening on Sept. 28.
With parents like Lenny and the ever-iconic Lisa Bonet, it's really no mystery that Zoë's one of the most intriguing actresses in Hollywood. Add in her ridiculously cool stepdad Jason Momoa and her half-siblings Nakoa-Wolf and Lola (the inspiration behind her band Lolawolf), and you've got the recipe for an impressive family. Keep reading to see more pics from Zoë and Lenny's sweet night out, and make sure you check out these snaps of their cutest family moments.
You're Not Imagining Things; Lucas Hedges Is Everywhere Right Now
We were so thrilled when we heard that Garrard Conley's memoir Boy Erased was getting a big-screen adaptation written and directed by Joel Edgerton. The story follows Jared, a teenager living in a small Arkansas town who is unwillingly outed to his devout Baptist parents and subsequently must attend a gay conversion therapy program through his church. It's a compelling story that's already been getting a ton of buzz, and we have been counting down the days until its Nov. 2 release.
That excitement quadrupled when we heard the power players who would head up the cast. Ever since Nicole Kidman knocked our socks off in Big Little Lies, we've been patiently waiting for more opportunities to see her own the theater. She has been cast as Nancy, Jared's mother, and we can hear the Oscar buzz already. Then, we have New Zealander Russell Crowe depicting Jared's pastor father, Marshall. Even Edgerton himself has a role in the film, playing the head therapist at the gay conversion therapy program. The true star, however, is Lucas Hedges, who plays the intricate character of Jared as he navigates this arduous, painful time in his life.
We've been fans of Hedges for a while now, and his roster proves that he is a truly talented young actor. It was back in a middle-school play that the casting director for Moonrise Kingdom (2012) spotted the young Hedges and gave him his start with the role of Redford. After that, Hedges went on to win roles in Arthur Newman, Labor Day, The Zero Theorem, and The Grand Budapest Hotel. He earned a lot of attention for his role as Jeremey Renner's son in the film adaptation of Nick Schou's book Kill the Messenger. Then in 2015, he was cast as Ritchie Joanou opposite Peter Sarsgaard, Thandie Newton, Uma Thurman, and Zachary Quinto in the television miniseries The Slap.
But it was his role in Kenneth Lonergan's 2016 film Manchester by the Sea that truly introduced audiences to Hedges's unimaginable talent. He played Patrick Chandler, the nephew of Casey Affleck's character, who must grapple with his father's sudden death and the complicated behavior of his new guardian. For this role, he was nominated for an Academy Award. It's hard to believe that things for Hedges could get any better than that, but 2017 proved to be his year. He played Danny O'Neill in one of our favorite films of that year, Lady Bird, in addition to starring as Frances McDormand's son in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. It's almost as if Hedges is a magnet for Academy Award-nominated films (take note, Martin Scorsese.)
On top of his role in Boy Erased, Hedges will also star opposite Julia Roberts in Ben Is Back this year (another role already getting a ton of buzz) and in Mid90s, a film written and directed by Jonah Hill. He will also make his first Broadway appearance in The Waverly Gallery. And if all that doesn't seem like enough, he's starring in a Shia LaBeouf film called Honey Boy in the near future.
31 Times the Queen Was So Over It and She Didn't Care Who Knew
Queen Elizabeth II makes hundreds of public appearances each year, and she's been doing it for over 66 years - the longest of any British monarch. That's a whole lot of hand shaking and smiling for photo ops! Enough to make anyone, even the Queen of England, a little grumpy. Sure, she smiles kindly most of the time - and has some pretty hilarious expressions - but there are moments when her majesty just can't fake it with a sparkly grin. Can you blame her? I'd be frowning, too, if I still didn't get to retire at 92 years old. And based on her increased workload so far this year, she's not slowing down one bit. Which means there are likely even more unamused faces to come. Until then, take a look at her least thrilled looks from the past.
The Queen May Look Short, but She's Probably Taller Than You Think
The world looks up to Queen Elizabeth II as the longest-reigning monarch in British history. But even with that impressive title, she's certainly not "above" everyone else. At just 5'4" tall, the queen is actually pretty average, even short by some standards.
While her majesty is on par with the average woman in the United States, she falls below the average European woman, who stands at 5'6". In her immediate family, the queen is among the shortest (not counting Prince George!). And if she appears heads below her own husband, children, and grandchildren, it's because most of them have more than a few inches on her. When coupled with the brightly colored outfits she prefers, the height disparity is even more pronounced in photos from official events.
But the queen's measurements don't detract from her important role as head of state in 16 commonwealth countries. In fact, one could argue that her stature is partly what makes her one of the most recognizable figures in the world. Plus, when everyone else has to bow down to you, does it really matter where you fall on the measuring stick?

Princess Charlotte is steadily becoming the royal family's tiniest icon, and her adorable outfits and free-spirited attitude will undoubtedly make for a great Halloween costume for kids at heart. Robert Pattinson Hangs Out With Shia LaBeouf's Ex After FKA Twigs Romance Reports
Well, things just got a lot more interesting. Following news that Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth got divorced and Shia is now dating Robert Pattinson's ex-fiancée, FKA Twigs, Rob and Mia hit the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain together on Thursday. The two were on hand to promote their upcoming film, High Life, and seemed to be in good spirits as they shared a few laughs and chatted with their costars including Agata Buzek and Scarlett Lindsey. Before you jump to any conclusions, though, it's likely that Rob and Mia are just friends. They also attended the Toronto Film Festival to do press for their movie earlier this month.
Rob and Twigs first got together in 2014 but called off their engagement in October 2017. The actor was most recently linked to Suki Waterhouse after they were caught kissing on a movie date in London in July. While the status of their relationship still remains unclear, Mia, on the other hand, split from Shia almost two years after they tied the knot in Las Vegas.
Still Not Over Harry and Meghan's Wedding? Here's How You Can Recreate It For Halloween
If you're still obsessing over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding - and, let's be honest, who isn't? - why not recreate it for Halloween this year? Not only was it one of the most watched events in history, but it brought out so many stars and royals that you'll have endless costume ideas to choose from. You can either channel the bride and groom and stage an entire wedding ceremony, or you can dress up as George and Amal Clooney and take in the whole thing from the sidelines. Regardless of who you decide to dress up as, you're guaranteed to win Halloween this year.
Matt Damon Made an SNL Appearance as Brett Kavanaugh, Along With His "Creepy Calendars"
In its season premiere, Saturday Night Live made light of the recent Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Brett Kavanaugh. In the timely cold open, Matt Damon made a surprise appearance as the Supreme Court nominee and, in case you were wondering, calendars and beer were featured prominently.
Damon opened the spoof of the hearing by reading his prepared opening remarks. "I wrote it myself last night while screaming into an empty bag of Doritos," he said. Damon then brought up Kavanaugh's now-infamous calendars. "I've got these calendars - these beautiful, creepy calendars," he said. The skit also featured Kate McKinnon as Senator Lindsey Graham, Pete Davidson as Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, and Saturday Night Live alum Rachel Dratch as Senator Amy Klobuchar.

This Greatest Showman-Themed Wedding Will Make Your Heart Sing
The 2017 movie musical The Greatest Showman celebrates acceptance, love, and unity - kind of like a wedding! Fittingly, photographer Claire Celeste decided to style a wedding shoot to pay homage to the movie.
In the film, Phillip Carlyle (Zac Efron) falls in love with Anne Wheeler, an acrobat and trapeze artist played by Zendaya. Their sizzling chemistry in the movie is undeniable and the inspiration behind this photo shoot. "This truly was a celebration of humanity based after the movie The Greatest Showman and the love story of Phillip Carlyle and Anne Wheeler," Claire said.
The shoot took place at 1010 West in Orlando, FL, a marvelous historic venue that's over a century old, and Kristen Michelle Wilson, the first female ringmaster for Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, served as the officiant.
While the final photos look gorgeous and glamorous, a lot of hard work went into the production of this shoot. "Getting a crew this talented and varied together was no small feat," Claire said. "Kind of like coordinating an actual circus!" Scroll through for some big-top inspiration for your big day.
13 of the Best Places to Celebrate Halloween Around the World
For more than a century, Halloween has been heralded as a major holiday in the United States, as people celebrate all things that go bump in the night. Initially a pagan holiday, All Hallows' Eve will find children trick-or-treating in their spookiest costumes and adults attending parties in homes and clubs lit by jack-o'-lanterns and orange bulbs shining through a fog of cobwebs. The United States, however, isn't the only place to celebrate the season. Continue reading to find out how people observe Halloween and other Fall holidays all around the world.
Enter This 20-Acre Stranger Things Corn Maze If Your Sense of Adventure Is 11 Out of 10
Ever feel like visiting Eleven in the Upside Down? Now you can, kind of, thanks to a huge, intricate corn maze with a Stranger Things theme. The maze is located in Indiana - fitting, since that's the setting of the show - at Exploration Acres, the largest corn maze and pumpkin patch in northwest Indiana. Exploration Acres creates a new corn maze every year for people to visit in the Fall, and the Stranger Things maze is the largest one yet.
Take a look at the aerial photo to get an idea of just how big it is - it's equivalent to about 15 football fields! You'll spot perfectly executed details, including a Demogorgon in the bottom left, the boys riding their bikes at the bottom, the Netflix logo on the right, and Eleven doing her telekinetic thing at the top as the Mind Flayer hovers above her. The only thing missing is the outline of an Eggo.
"After binge-watching the entire Stranger Things series last year, I knew we had a unique opportunity to create an immersive environment for fans at our farm," said Tim Fitzgerald, president and CEO of Exploration Acres.
Exploration Acres will be open from Sept. 14 through Oct. 28 this year, and you can buy tickets for $10 if you're up for the challenge. This adrenaline-pumping activity might be enough to hold you over until the 2019 premiere of season three.
No Worms or Eyeballs in This Adults-Only Halloween Menu
Halloween parties don't have to be all about the kitschy hot dog ghosts and eyeball deviled eggs. Instead, plan a menu that highlights pumpkin, squash, apples, and other fresh Fall produce. Yes, black and orange colors make an appearance, but naturally and not artificially. Have a happy adults-only Halloween!

There Are 2 New Kinds of Funnel Cake Fries at Disneyland, So BRB While We Stuff Our Faces
First Disneyland had us fawning over its Fruity Pebbles funnel cake fries, and now there is not one but two new Fall flavors to lose your Mickey-loving mind over. Over at the epically named Award Wieners eatery in Disney California Adventure Park, you can now find seasonal twists on the popular fried fair treat: pumpkin spice funnel cake fries and cookies and cream funnel cake fries. The pumpkin spice funnel cake fries are dusted with sparkly pumpkin spice sugar then drizzled with a pumpkin spice sauce and topped with a heaping pile of pumpkin spice whipped cream. The cookies and cream funnel cake fries are topped with crushed Oreo cookies and whipped cream and then drizzled with chocolate sauce.
So are they as tasty as they look? We tried them so you don't have to (except in this case, you WILL want to), and here's what we think:
The fries are a little chewy, which is probably so they hold up under all the toppings and sauces, but I had hoped they would have a more light and airy texture like a true fair funnel cake. That said, they were still good and addictive. I'm not a huge pumpkin spice fan (I know, I know), so I preferred the cookies and cream, which were a chocolate-lover's dream. The pumpkin spice fries were more on the sweet than spicy side, but the sauce did have a distinct pumpkin pie flavor, and my friend who is a fan of pumpkin spice thought they were quite good. So you can't go wrong!
How to Make Guilt-Free Chicken Wings in an Instant Pot
I've been experimenting with my new Instant Pot, and it's been fun to explore all the different things it can do. It really is surprising how quickly it can cook certain meals with little mess and easy cleanup, too. When I tried out chicken wings, the meat was so tender - and even though there is the warmup and cooldown period, the actual pressure cook time was only five minutes.
This Instant Pot recipe is so easy, and the wings come out juicy and delicious. Bonus: the recipe I use for the buffalo sauce is adapted from an original Whole30 recipe, so these wings are guilt-free. (If you prefer regular buffalo sauce or store-bought, that will work too.)

Disneyland Has a Frozen Mexican Hot Chocolate, and It's OK to Freak Out Now
One of Disneyland's new seasonal treats during the park's Halloween and Día de los Muertos celebrations is a frozen Mexican hot chocolate, and it's seriously, dangerously delicious. Available at Rancho del Zocalo in the main Disneyland park, the $6 Frozen Abuelita and Horchata is offered alongside a Blended Horchata and is a festive twist on the traditional Spanish and Latin American spiced rice milk drink. This new frozen drink incorporates Abuelita, a Mexican-style cinnamon hot chocolate named after the Spanish word for "grandma," and is topped with the frozen horchata and a spiced whipped cream. It's a refreshing blend of sweet and spicy, and while it's pretty sweet, it's not cloying. In fact, of all the treats available during Halloween Time at Disneyland, this one was my favorite, especially on a warm Fall day in Anaheim!

30 Vibrant Photos That Will Inspire You to Take a Trip to Morocco
If you've never considered traveling to Morocco, this photographer's adventures will convince you otherwise. Raisa Zwart visited the North African country for a November wedding and captured her short trip. Before heading to Ourika, she spent a day and a half in Marrakech, which she described as "a place of contradictions: the crowded medina, the somewhat pushy guides, but also beautiful scenery, fairy-tale like alleys, and amazing food," and added, "The colors and light there are just stunning."
Raisa wandered around the medina of Marrakech - a medina is a historic quarter of a town - without any guides or direction. "It's also so much fun to just see what happens and where you'll end up," she said.
The beautiful palaces in Marrakech are a must see, specifically Palais Badii and Palais Bahia. In contrast to the older part of Marrakech, the city includes modern sections that have a distinctly different feel - both of which are worth the visit. She also suggests checking out Ourika, which is very close to Marrakech and lies within the Atlas Mountain range. "I would highly recommend combining a visit to Marrakech with one to Ourika - it's so beautiful and provides a nice, more quiet getaway from the city."
To make the most of your Moroccan experience, Raisa says to stay at a riad - "These traditional B&B-like places are like quiet oases in the Medina" - and to try the delicious North African dish tajine and to visit botanical garden Jardin Majorelle.
See the amazing photos from her trip!

13 Horror Films That Won't Scar Your Tweens For Life
As a Certified Wimp™, there are only a few scary movies that I can really handle watching to ensure I don't spend the next week having nightmares over a film's plot. However, I was forced to watch tons of horror movies as a kid at sleepovers and birthday parties, because it's apparently some kind of rite of passage as a tween and teen to sit through scary movies with friends and not completely freak out (which I never once succeeded at, for the record).
Whether you're a horror film buff or not, you may have a budding scary-movie-lover on your hands (or just a kid who wants to watch all of the movies in various Halloween movie marathons on TV without really knowing what they're getting into). To ease your 9- to 13-year-olds into scary movies, there are a handful of classics and a few newer horror films that have just the right amount of fright - there's nothing too terrifying, but nothing too childish on this list. (You know your kid best, so before watching some of these films, you may have to consider what your child can handle, despite the age each film is considered appropriate for.)
Read ahead for 13 scary movies that are perfect to pop on at your tween's next sleepover, during a Halloween party, or on your next family movie night (and check out this larger list of Halloween movies for kids of all ages).

What good is Halloween without the decor? It's like having a dinner party without any alcohol. Sorry, why are we here?
Part of what makes Oct. 31 so much fun is the amount of time we spend prepping for the big day. The cobwebs along the windowsills, the inflatable ghosts that are so big they practically swallow your front lawn, and the creative trinkets we arrange inside are almost more satisfying than the day itself. Almost.
To whet your appetite, we have Pier 1's spooky assortment, and it's better than ever. We found 28 items that are a must-see, from a trio of meditative skeletons to bat-shaped glimmer lights.
I'm That Overly Cautious Mom Who Throws Away All Halloween Candy That Isn't Totally Sealed
Hello! Allow me to introduce myself. I'm that super-overprotective mom who is paranoid AF. Especially around Halloween, when so many scary things can happen (literally). I need only have heard one story about one kid eating a piece of candy that was tampered with, even if it was way back in 1987 when I was a kid myself, to unleash some corporate-level quality control on my own kids' stash before they dig in.
Before my kids could so much as utter one word of protest, I had already tossed those repurposed cocoa solids in the closest garbage bin.
I operate under the assumption that a parent can never be too cautious when your children are basically taking candy from strangers. So, yes, every year, my kids have to wait while I inspect their chocolate bars and lollipops for, oh, I don't know, razor blades. If I happen to see a wrapper that isn't totally sealed (anything wrapped at the sides is gone) or looks iffy, like someone removed it and rewrapped it, or even just lifted up the edge, I toss that peanut butter cup or mini licorice pack faster than you can say "trick-or-treat."
Not that I encounter too much suspicious candy, but believe me, it's out there. Last year, my kids brought home several chocolate eggs in Christmas wrappers. Thinking about it logically, best case scenario, that candy was 10 months old. Indeed, a quick inspection inside the red and green foils revealed some rather questionable-looking chocolate that was covered in white powder. Before my kids could so much as utter one word of protest, I had already tossed those repurposed cocoa solids in the closest garbage bin.
Here's the thing: My kids don't need all the candy they score on Halloween anyway. Their teeth are probably already going to rot out from the stuff I let them keep that's totally on the up and up. I simply fail to see the need to keep candy on hand that gives me any reason to doubt whether it's safe for my children to eat.
Most of the time, my kids don't even notice I've edited their bounty and removed any candy I've either never heard of or that could possibly have been tampered with, no matter how unlikely. And even if they gave me a hard time, I'd tell them what my mom used to tell me: "It's better to be safe than sorry." One day, when they're parents, they'll understand.

This 2-Second Grocery Cart Hack Makes Shopping With Kids About a Million Times Easier
You're welcome 😉
Do your part to make a mama's life easier by sharing this.
Posted by Laura Castrillo on Saturday, September 22, 2018
Laura Castrillo, a mom from Houston, TX, needed to find a way to get her son into a shopping cart without physically lifting him. But after two years of just hoisting him up, she learned a clever hack from another mother who has a special needs son: lifting the front panel of the cart up so her little boy can crawl in. The busy mama shared her knowledge with the rest of the parenting community on Facebook, and we're forever grateful.
"I started doing it with my own kids because lifting them into a shopping cart can be difficult," she told POPSUGAR. "They're heavy, and I'm very short in comparison to a shopping cart, since I'm only 5' tall."
Laura has also found that the two-second hack is a great solution for her mom, who has disabilities.
"My mom is permanently disabled due to multiple back problems," explained Laura. "After taking my son on errands with her, she complained that lifting him in and out of the cart had left her back very sore. I recorded the video to show her how we get around that. I thought it could help others."
Bless you, Laura, because we're totally stealing this idea.

Here's Everything You Need to Know About the 3 Different Types of Flu Viruses Coming Your Way
One day you're feeling great, the next day you're coughing, and before you know it, you've got the flu virus - now would be the perfect time to knock on wood.
According to the Center For Disease Control, contracting the flu virus is most common during the Fall and Winter. Typically, flu activity begins to increase in October and peaks between December and February, although it can unfortunately last until May.
While there are four viruses in total - A, B, C, and D - only the first three affect humans. Flu D primarily affects cattle and is not known to infect people, so you don't need to bother yourself worrying about that one. As one of the most common illnesses, the CDC also reports that between 9.2 and 35.6 million people become ill from the flu each year in the US.
The flu is spread through droplets created whenever people sneeze, speak, or cough and can infect people in up to a six-foot radius. If you come into contact with a surface or object that has the flu virus on it, and then touch your mouth, nose, or eyes, you are also at risking of catching the flu. The virus can "live" for up to 48 hours depending on the surface - this fact has us washing our hands frequently during flu season.
To prevent catching the flu, experts advise getting a flu shot before the flu seasons begins. As always, avoid contact with sick people, and if you're sick, try limit your contact with those who are not ill. If you do have flu-like symptoms, the CDC recommends staying home for 24 hours after your fever breaks. Like you learned when you were a toddler, always cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze (sneeze and cough into your elbow), and wash your hands thoroughly and often.
Now it's time to learn the "A"s, "B"s, and "C"s of various types of flu.
On the Keto Diet and Headed to Olive Garden? Here's What You Should Order
Contrary to what you may have heard, there's more to Olive Garden than never ending pasta bowls and bottomless baskets of breadsticks. (Not that we're complaining.) That's good news for those on the keto diet - because if you're one of them, you already know that breadsticks aren't on the menu when you're trying to stay under 50 grams of carbs per day.
Olive Garden's nutrition information is available on the restaurant's website, making it super-simple to build a meal that will fit into your daily macros. There are a surprising number of keto-friendly dishes you can order straight off the menu, but we've pulled together tips for custom ordering a low-carb pasta bowl, too. Find what you're craving here, and pull up a seat - it's dinnertime:
- If you're just here for the apps: An order of cheesy, herby stuffed mushrooms will cost you only 13 grams of carbs. If you don't have quite that much wiggle room left in the day, go for Olive Garden's Famous House Salad (sans croutons, and sub olive oil for the dressing), and you'll come in at under 10 grams of carbs for your entire meal.
- If you're in the mood for chicken: The dinner portions of both the Chicken Piccata and the Chicken Margherita have only 12 and 13 grams of carbs, respectively. They're both served with the Parmesan Crusted Zucchini, which actually has the lowest carb count of any of Olive Garden's side dishes, and is higher in fat than the steamed vegetables.
- If you'd prefer seafood: The Herb-Grilled Salmon has just under 10 grams of carbs and comes with a tasty parmesan garlic broccoli.
- If you're feeling saucy: Take a little creative license with the menu, and try building your own pasta bowl, sans pasta. Very nicely ask your server for a pasta bowl with alfredo sauce and chicken or Italian sausage, but ask for it to be served over broccoli or garden veggies. You may get a few weird looks, but when you finally satisfy that craving, it won't matter.
This Trainer's 5-Move Stability Ball Workout Is What You Need For a Chiseled Core
As a personal trainer, I'm always asked what the best ab routine is and what I personally do to train my core. Like most things fitness, the answer is subjective since there's more than one way to strengthen and define the abdominal muscles. For my own ab workouts, I'm always switching it up. Sometimes I use resistance, sometimes I stick to the exercises I know will strengthen my core and help manage my lower-back pain, and other times I like to turn up the intensity and really challenge myself.
This five-move workout definitely falls under the intense category; it's challenging and will improve your stability and overall core strength. Before you go any further, I do not advise this workout for beginners. Instead, try this beginner routine first, and gradually work your way up to this stability ball workout.
The Workout
Perform the designated reps for each exercise, taking little to no rest in between exercises. Rest for one to two minutes and repeat the five-exercise circuit for a total of two rounds.
- Stir the pot: 10 reps, clockwise and counterclockwise
- Ball mountain climbers: 12 reps
- Ball knee tucks: 12 reps
- Ball pikes: 10 reps
- Ball pass: 10 reps
