Drugstore Skincare Items That Have the Ridiculously Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid
I've always struggled with hormonal cystic acne and superoily skin, which usually left me with severe dry patches. I could never find a moisturizer that felt right on my face. What I didn't realize until doing a lot of research was that I needed more moisture. That's when I learned about hyaluronic acid, a chemical known for its hydrating properties. It acts as a filler for fine lines and wrinkles. It also has the ability to hold 1,000 times its water weight, making this a smart way to lock in moisture and stop producing oil. Using it changed my skin for the better by clearing it up.
If you've been interested in trying it out, you don't have to cash out hundreds of dollars. You can find this chemical in so many drugstore brands. Check them out ahead.
Fresh’s Latest Night Cream Gave Me the Dewy Skin I Thought Only Existed on Instagram
Glass skin, "dewiness" - it's all semantics. You choose whatever you want to call the hypershiny, impossibly soft-looking complexions that are taking over your Instagram feed. For some, the look takes a multi-step makeup routine. For me, the secret is in this one jar. The Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Dream Night Cream ($48) is a moisturizer that the brand has prescribed for bedtime, which is why I first tried it.
When I slathered it on, I noticed its light citrus scent, which reminded me of fresh lychee. Then, I saw how slick it left my skin. At first, it was borderline greasy, but after a few minutes, the cream absorbed into my skin and left me with a laminate-like finish. It only lasted 10 minutes, but I realized the Instagram gold I'd just created (if I had a professional camera to capture it). Aside from the trendy look I was left with, I also felt completely moisturized. My dry patches ate this cream up, drinking in its moisture from shea butter and various fruit extracts. My cheeks also looked brighter, thanks to the lotus extract.
Glass skin might not be all that realistic, but this cream makes it so you can get pretty damn close.
The Surprising Product Used to Create Lady Gaga's Metallic Winged Eye Liner
Lady Gaga always keeps us guessing. Whether it's announcing a residency in Vegas - aptly named Enigma - or showing off her acting chops in a little film people have been raving about - A Star Is Born, maybe you've heard of it? - she's not one to keep people feeling like they know what's next for her. That's why her legions of fans adore her. (Myself included - little Monsters unite.)
On the beauty front, we at POPSUGAR love covering Gaga for this reason as well. From hair bows to smeared face paint and makeup-free to sequined appliqués, we love learning everything about the art she decides to cover her face and body with. Most notably, her longtime makeup artist, Sarah Tanno, who is the global artistry ambassador for Marc Jacobs Beauty, has been the one tasked with creating and ideating these looks with the Haus of Gaga team. Tanno is quick to explain that everything is for Gaga; as an artist, it isn't about her, it's about working with her hairstylist and wardrobe stylist to create a look, that, of course, is helmed by Gaga.
When asked about her favorite look to create with Gaga, Tanno said many have been special to her, but the most memorable was from her Super Bowl performance in 2017. "It was epic. It was such an important moment in (Gaga's) career, so I knew I had to create something that was really timeless, something that she could look back on 20 years from now and love it as much as she did that day," said Tanno. If you recall, that look incorporated those aforementioned sequined appliqués, which resulted in a masked look. "It was really paying homage to everything she had done in her career at that point and not doing anything that was unrecognizable, that was really, truly Gaga, and then elevating it from there," she said.
This helps paint the picture of what "classic" means for Haus of Gaga. Sequined masks are more avant garde than, say, a chignon and a cat eye - but hello, we're talking about Lady Gaga here. This philosophy ties into the look Tanno recreated for us: the silver, foiled wing and red lip from the LA A Star Is Born premiere. For the Los Angeles debut of the movie, it was all about creating a "futuristic, old-Hollywood vibe," hence the decision to go with a silver wing instead of black.
"People think there are so many rules in beauty, but there really [aren't]," said Tanno. "I'm not doing it for anybody. I'm not doing it for 'beauty people' to love it. I'm just doing it because it makes me happy and I think it's awesome."
For this look, there's a trick. It's not one, not two, but four eye products - and a nail product - that create that dazzling effect on Gaga's lids. Tanno starts by creating a base on the lid with Marc Jacobs Beauty Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Primer ($26). Then, using the brand's Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in N(ice) ($25), she sketches out a wing. "It has actual glitter particles in it," said Tanno, meaning you don't necessarily have to fuss with loose glitter to achieve a similar look. (Praise be.) "They also blend really nicely, so you can use it as an eye shadow, too," she said.
"People think there are so many rules in beauty, but there really aren't," said Tanno. "I'm not doing it for anybody. I'm not doing it for 'beauty people' to love it. I'm just doing it because it makes me happy and I think it's awesome."
Gaga has a lot of lid space. If you have more of a hooded lid, Tanno recommends overaccentuating the eyeliner higher on the lid so that you can see it.
To emphasize the metallic look, Tanno selects the Eye-conic Longwear Eye Shadow Palette in Smartorial ($49) and uses the shade In Doubt, a true silver. Wetting an angled liner brush, she applies In Doubt over the line she created with the Highliner Crayon.
To finish off the eye, she uses the See-quins Glam Glitter Eye Shadow in Flashlight ($28) (an icy opal) all over the lid by taking her finger, patting it into the pot, dabbing it on the eye, and blending it out with a brush.
She brought the rest of the look together using a hint of blush and, of course, mascara, then tied everything up with Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick in Oh Miley ($30). Tanno said its that "perfect red that looks good on very skin tone."
Two things to note from this tutorial: Tanno didn't include foil on the lid, which she did use on Gaga for the red carpet. That's because our model (read: yours truly) has a hooded lid and not as much lid space to work with. For Gaga, she took a piece of nail foil, cut it up, and then applied the piece to the center of the lid to reflect the "liquid metal of the dress," as Tanno put it. And for the lips, she didn't use a gloss on Gaga, but she applied the limited-edition Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer in Shine a Light as a glaze on top.

Tatcha’s New Brightening Serum Completely Faded My Acne Scars in Less Than Two Months
The Tatcha Violet-C Brightening Serum ($88) is many things, but first, let's discuss what it is not: a bottle of instant results. It takes dedication and daily use, and though the results were gradual, they were impressive, which is why I can say with unapologetic zest that the Tatcha Violet-C Brightening Serum has given me the brightest, most even skin - in both texture and tone - I've ever had.
That's a loaded statement, I know, but for the past month and a half, when anyone has asked me about what skincare launch I'm most excited about, I respond in all-caps, "THE NEW ONE FROM TATCHA." Everything about it is dreamy, from the sunset-looking, pink-to-orange gradient on its bottle, to its water-like texture. On the first night I tested it, I dispensed three pumps of the serum onto my palms, swiped it onto my face and neck, and watched as the liquid immediately absorbed into my skin. I followed the ultra-thin layer with my favorite moisturizer for dry skin, and let it do its magic.
I woke up the next morning and didn't see a change. Day two: same routine, and still no difference in my complexion. That magic actually didn't start manifesting until my second week of use, and it was just a slight change in tone. By the third week, though, I started to notice dark spots (the ones along my cheek bones from faded acne scars) started to disappear. By week four, my skin experienced a full-blown transformation. My skin was glow-y - so much so, I'd started using less concealer and skipping foundation completely. It was also extremely soft and even in tone.
Here's how it works: to get rid of dark spots and brighten the complexion, this serum "uses fruity acids to dissolve the top layer of skin," said cosmetic chemist Ginger King. "It also uses two types of vitamin C and licorice extracts to create that effect." As for the smoothing effect, you can thank the angelica extract, which diminishes lines, and moisturizing sodium hyaluronate.
So maybe it's not the quickest fix (nobody said it would be), but most things that are worthwhile deserve the long game.
The Coolest Hair Colors You're About To See Everywhere in 2019
Not to sound like a Christmas Eve TV special nobody is watching because it's on Lifetime, but the future - as in, 2019 - is looking merry and bright, especially when it comes to hair color trends. Where 2018 was all about swirls of rainbow and every coffee-inspired hair hue you could possibly imagine, the color forecast for the new year is looking like the polar opposite: either blindingly blond and so dark it's on the edge of goth, or so natural-looking, you'll barely notice you did a thing.
"For the adventurous people, this next year is going to be about bolder colors that stand out and draw attention," said NYC colorist Stephanie Brown. "Then again, low-maintenance hair color isn't going anywhere fast. It's easy to keep up with and really pretty."
We're talking inky black dye versus copper highlights - plus a few iterations in between - and to help guide you through the cloud of hydrogen peroxide and bleach, we asked three colorists to break down which trends are worth trying in 2019. As the infomercials say: new year, new you, right?
These YSL Plumping Lip Balms Are Such a Cute Galentine's Day Gift
If you prefer to celebrate "Ovaries Before Brovaries" a la Leslie Knope, you're probably looking for something special to give your best gals on Galentine's Day. Aren't your true loves your best friends, anyway? Perhaps YSL had "Uteruses Before Duderuses" in mind when creating the perfectly packaged and newly launched Volupté Plump-in-Color Lip Balm ($39), a lip balm filled with plumping and moisturizing ingredients like peppermint oil, antioxidants, and hyaluronic acid.
If you like the decadence of applying a lipstick from an opulent tube but prefer a softer, more hydrating finish that builds color with application, these do the trick. The balms come in six shades: Mad Nude (a pale nude-pink), Dazzling Fuchsia (a hot pink), Exposing Coral (a pinky-orange), Delirious Orange (a coral), Lunatic Red (a scarlet hue that can be used as a bold pop of color or a slight tint), and Furious Gold (a golden shade that enhances your lips' natural color).
The balms are beautiful and include the signature YSL motif that are standard in the brand's lip products. It should be noted that the plumping effect doesn't make your lips feel like they're on fire, like many tingling lip products can. Instead, it creates a perfectly flushed, fuller effect and a high-shine finish, thanks to the black pearl powder.
It's luxe, can be used everyday, and is really quite adorable. It's the perfect gift for the lady loves of your life - or anyone else who understands you don't need someone to kiss in order for your lips to look kissable.

Taylor Swift Is Living Out All Our Disney Dreams With Ariel's Mermaid Hair
This New Year's Eve, Taylor Swift threw one of her epic parties and asked her guests to arrive in a costume representing their childhood hero. Lucky for us, a mini Swift enjoyed watching Disney's The Little Mermaid and dressed as Princess Ariel. While it's rare for the singer to not pull off a look, we were especially impressed by how well she pulled off the long red wig she paired with her signature red lip. Considering that Swift also wore a red wig in her "Babe" music video, we're hoping this means the star is considering this hair-color change in real life. Swipe through the Instagram gallery above to check out her magical look.

15 Dating Mistakes You Need to Stop Making If You're Looking For Love in 2019
I've been called a dating expert a time or two, and as soon as someone gets categorized this way, it begs the question: if you're so good at dating, why are you still single? Because coaches don't play.
I wish it were that simple, because that'd be a great mic-drop answer. Really, it's because I'm not an expert; I just do the dating thing a lot and then write about it. I've made plenty of mistakes, including that time I scheduled back-to-back dates in one night and mixed up their names, so they both got very confusing text messages about timing and meetup locations. As one of my favorite writers, Matteson Perry, shared with me, "Though it's called 'casual dating,' to do it right, you have to be as organized and detail-oriented as an air-traffic controller. Regular communication, scheduling, and planning are key, especially if you're dating more than one person at a time."
Matteson is on the money, and his words got me thinking about the bigger, more classic mistakes that we all make when dating. As the new year kicks off and we resolve to fix our dating faux pas in 2019, we're going to need some words of wisdom from the queen of tough love herself. I sat down with the one and only "Millionaire Matchmaker," Patti Stanger, for some no-nonsense talk about what we're doing wrong and, more importantly, how to fix it in 2019.

Keeping Your Apps Organized Just Got So Much Easier, Thanks to This Cool iPhone Feature
So, uh, did anyone else know you could select multiple apps like this on iOS?
Because I definitely didn't just discover it. pic.twitter.com/Nq0wfuqzb6- manik (@ManikRathee) December 29, 2018
Our iPhones can do a lot of cool things, though a handful of said things often tend to get a lot more shine than others. So it's not hard to imagine how, every now and then, some of us iPhone users end up learning things about our phones that we never knew before. Case in point: Manik Rathee, a Google engineer who shared a viral tweet last week in which he explained his recent discovery of a simple iPhone trick that allows users to select and drag multiple apps at a time. "So, uh, did anyone else know you could select multiple apps like this on iOS? Because I definitely didn't just discover it," he wrote.
A video accompanying the tweet shows a person demonstrating the trick, pressing and holding down one app until it enters wiggly mode, and then using another finger to select two more apps so that they can all be dragged across the screen together. It's a pretty easy trick, but it's a game changer for anyone who regularly reorganizes their apps and home screens, and tires of only being able to move one app at a time.
The feedback from the tweet alone - it currently has over 1,300 retweets and around 3,700 likes - indicated that this is yet another feature that many people are just now learning about. But, according to a few comments from other users, it isn't actually that new. The "hack" has apparently existed since the launch of iOS 11 back in September 2017, and it just hasn't been spoken of very much. Check out Rathee's video of the feature above.
Celebrity Nutritionist and Wellness Expert Kelly LeVeque Shares 5 Self-Care Tips For New Moms
The weeks and months after you have a baby can be the biggest mix of emotions. You're tired, sore, happy, hormonal, and so many other things all rolled into one. And since keeping your new little human alive is now your main focus, it can be hard to find any time for yourself. But you still matter! POPSUGAR recently spoke with Kelly LeVeque, a holistic nutritionist, wellness expert, and celebrity health coach, about little things you can do every day to make sure your needs still remain a priority when you become a parent.
Kelly, who is also the author of Body Love: Every Day, which comes out in April 2019, encourages new moms to make small changes in order to develop sustainable habits to live a healthy and balanced life. So if you're feeling a little overwhelmed and not like yourself after having a baby, keep reading to see what you can start doing now to feel stronger and better than ever.
1. Commit to a Green Smoothie
Kelly, whose celebrity clients include Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner, and Molly Sims, always commits to starting her day with a Fab Four smoothie. "As a new mom, it helps ensure I'm fueled quickly with the perfect balance of protein, fat, fiber, and greens," she told POPSUGAR. "That way, if the day escapes me or lunch happens later, I'm still balanced. Plus, if friends bring by celebratory treats or we resort to ordering takeout, I can feel good that I still drank my greens!" Her big tip: buy bulk protein powder, shelf-stable fats like MCT or coconut oil, and fiber like chia or flax to ensure you always have what you need. Frozen spinach also is a great smoothie hack, because it doesn't wilt and you never need to add ice.
2. Make Sunday Self-Care a Family Affair
If your kids try to get in on your self-care routine, incorporate them sometimes in small ways. "I love the bath and so does my son Sebastian, so instead of giving up my Sunday soak, I pull him in with me," Kelly explained. "I don't mind ditching all of my scented bath oils for the coziest 30 minutes of my week. A little hypoallergenic baby bath from Honest and a few tablespoons of Now Magnesium Flakes and we're both beyond relaxed and ready for bed."
3. Roll Through Nap Time
Kelly suggests trying to get your baby to take one nap a day in the stroller bassinet. "Getting out of the house and walking is the best way to get moving again and prevent being stir crazy in the first few weeks," she said. "It's also the perfect transition back into your workout routine."
4. Take Your Supplements
Any task as a new mom can be daunting, so be gentle with getting back into the swing of self-care. "Start with simply taking your supplements with a big glass of water," Kelly urged. "As a breastfeeding mom, I'm prioritizing probiotics, a prenatal multivitamin, and omega-3s, because I know those nutrients are being passed on via breast milk."
5. Nuts . . . Keep You From Going Nuts
You might get stuck at the pediatrician, be forced to pull off the freeway to feed your hungry baby, or simply be running behind because leaving the house with a newborn is like a rocket launch, but packing healthy, shelf-stable snacks can keep you sane. "Pack nuts in your diaper bag to prevent needing to resort to unhealthy snacks or skipping meals," Kelly said. "Nuts contain protein, fat, and fiber to help you regulate hunger hormones and balance blood sugar. My favorites include walnuts, macadamia nuts, and marcona almonds."

Applebee's is at it again, quenching our thirst without draining our wallets. The drink is made with Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and Pepsi, served in a 10-oz. mug, making us strongly reconsider the dry January resolution we made.
"Rum and cola is a classic combination, but we wanted to make it special when we picked it for our next Neighborhood Drink of the Month, so we crafted it with our number one selling rum, Captain Morgan," Patrick Kirk, vice president of beverage innovation at Applebee's, said in a press release. "When you get your hands on a mug of Captain and Cola for only $2, it's going to feel way better than returning those holiday gifts. You're welcome."
The Captain and Cola deal is available at Applebee's locations through the month of January. No need for a map: Applebee's has already led us to the hidden treasure. What are you waiting for? Grab your mates!

Pippa Middleton Hits the Beach in a Bikini, and It's Already a Strong 2019 Mood
Pippa Middleton and her husband James Matthews have been celebrating the holidays in St. Barts, and on Wednesday, the new parents were spotted taking a dip in the ocean during a day at the beach. Pippa - who gave birth to the couple's son, Arthur, just days after attending Princess Eugenie's wedding in October - showed off her physique in a white bikini as she and James went for a swim together and stayed close in the ocean; they did the same back in September during their romantic Italian babymoon, though Pippa looked just a tiny bit different in her two-piece. Seriously, are you seeing that muscle tone?
The fitness-loving couple tied the knot in May 2017, and have reportedly been staying at the Caribbean island's exclusive Eden Rock Hotel, which is owned by James's family. We last saw James and Pippa when they stepped out for a Christmas carol service in London with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in early December. Around the same time, it was announced that the posh Chelsea apartment Pippa used to share with her older sister Kate is on the market, to the tune of a casual £1.95 million (roughly $2.5 million). Not too shabby.
Jennifer Lopez Cuddles Her Way Into the New Year With Twins Max and Emme
Although throwing a bangin' party à la Taylor Swift is one way to celebrate the new year, another way is exactly what Jennifer Lopez opted for: a quiet, relaxed cuddle session with her kids. On Jan. 1, the singer and actress shared an adorable shot of her snuggled up with her 10-year-old twins, Max and Emme, in their pajamas. "About last night . . . Perfect way to start the year . . . Love that they still wanna fall asleep in Mama's arms," Jennifer captioned the post. The three appear to be sleeping as they embrace one another.
Jennifer gave birth to Maximilian and Emme on Feb. 21, 2008, alongside then-husband Marc Anthony. Jennifer and Marc decided to separate in 2011 and have reportedly had a relationship best described as "it's complicated." However, the two continue to coparent. Marc was last linked to Italian model Raffaella Modugno in 2017. Jennifer is now dating former MLB player Alex Rodriguez, and they share a beautiful blended family.
Hey, Now! Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx Share a Smooch During Romantic Holiday Vacation

Katie and Jamie have been dating for about three years, and became more comfortable putting their relationship on display in major ways in 2018.
Just before their trip, Jamie helped Katie celebrate her 40th birthday with a sweet date in New Orleans. While Katie had to jet off before the new year, Jamie rang in 2019 with two more of his leading ladies; the actor shared an Instagram snap of himself celebrating with his daughters, 24-year-old Corinne and 10-year-old Anelise, writing, "No better way [than] to spend my New Years with my babies!!!" Blown Away by Black Mirror: Bandersnatch? Wait Until You See How They Pulled It Off
By now, chances are you've heard about Black Mirror's new offering: a standalone "choose your own adventure" film called Bandersnatch. Yep, it's exactly what it sounds like: you're not just a passive viewer when it comes to our hero, Stefan. Instead, you must make choices along the way that inevitably affect his fate, as well as the ending you get to witness. The finished product is surely unlike anything ever before seen in the entertainment world, and it's so much more than that, too. It runs smoothly, it's an incredible story, and there are reportedly something to the tune of one trillion different permutations based on the varying choices you can make and paths you can take.
If that all sounds very complicated, it's because it is. To pull off Bandersnatch, Netflix had to develop new tools and programs, and they had to double the budget and the production time that seems to be standard for a Black Mirror episode. (Considering some episodes are feature-length, that's pretty remarkable.) For those of you who like to take things apart and see how they work, we've got a special treat. With help from an in-depth interview from The Hollywood Reporter - it's got tidbits from Netflix execs and Black Mirror creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones - we're breaking down exactly how Bandersnatch came together.
Testing the Format
Netflix initially tested out the interactive technology with their kids' programming, including Puss in Book and Buddy Thunderstruck. "We felt that if it didn't succeed in the kids' space, it wouldn't succeed with grownups," head of product Todd Yellin told Wired in a recent interview. "Kids don't know how something's supposed to be, they just know how it is . . . Not only do they want to get involved with characters, but they want to dive in and be with the characters."
It quickly became clear that the format was a huge success, with high interaction rates from the kids who watched. Once Netflix had a "proof of concept," so to speak, they took the idea to Brooker and Jones. Funnily enough, the two weren't keen on trying it out. "We did pretty much walk out of the room and go, 'Nope,'" Brooker told THR. "But partly because, at that point, we didn't know what the story would be and thought, 'Wouldn't that just be a gimmick?' Annoyingly, several weeks later, we were throwing story ideas around and this idea popped up that would only work as an interactive. It was good to come back and have an idea, but also daunting." And with that, it was pretty much all systems go. Still, it would be more than a year and a half before they could execute the project and slate it for release.
Plotting the Idea
According to Wired, Brooker started immediately to puzzle out the plot, sketching out a rough flowchart on a white board. The story and its many paths got so complicated that Brooker had to learn a unique videogame programming language, specifically used for a program called Twine. "Every time I had an idea I put it in a box, and you can move them around. It's a bit like making a giant patchwork quilt," he said. But even that medium wasn't enough to contain the vast complexities of Bandersnatch. "The story was expanding, and it was like whole new islands started appearing. It grew down beyond the flowchart, and sometimes the story would expand sideways. And then there were layers," Brooker told THR. So, get this: Netflix literally developed an internal tool to help plot the story.
The tool is called Branch Manager, and it allowed Brooker to send his evolving script directly to Netflix as he worked. What it amounts to, from the sound of it, is a vast map delineates all the potential options and paths, complete with plenty of if-then scenarios. The map also shows how the viewer can arrive at each ending. The complex narrative structures in Branch Manager even allow for loops and do-overs.
Making It Happen
Once they mapped out everything, clearly an endeavor in and of itself, then it was time to make the damn thing. According to reports, Bandersnatch took twice as long and cost twice as much to produce. For instance, Metalhead (which pops up as an Easter egg in Bandersnatch) took 12 days to shoot. Bandersnatch took 35 days, spread over the course of seven weeks. According to THR, there are upwards of 250 video segments that piece together to make the whole. That's a lot of small scenes to film. Brooker himself told THR it felt like he was making four Black Mirror episodes at once!
In addition to all the legwork on the creative side, Netflix had their own work to do. Wondering how this could possibly amount to more than a trillion iterations? Well, a new piece of technology allowed for "state tracking" during playback. This means your experience is unique to you: Netflix "remembers" every single choice you make during your viewing, and the story shifts slightly based on what you pick. It's ever-evolving, and it means your entire experience would change even if you only made one alternate choice.
The choose-your-own-adventure model also meant Netflix had to beef up their cache system in order to keep things running smoothly. Normally, a program will load scenes in advance so you don't have to worry about buffering at any point. But when the software isn't sure what you're going to pick, it's hard to load scenes in advance. As such, the platform will prep and load a few videos at a time - the relevant ones, of course - to keep things moving. I'm dizzy just thinking about it.
The Launch
Now that Bandersnatch is here, those involved can kick back and behold their brilliance. But Bandersnatch is not just the gimmick Brooker first worried about, and it's not just a feat of technology. Black Mirror turned out to be the perfect venue for the format, with a stylized and meta story about a video game programmer working on the very sort of thing he's falling victim to.
The result is a unique kind of viewing experience, one where you're party to whatever Stefan inevitably endures. "You are making a decision at that point about your protagonist and what they have to do," Jones told THR. "If it wasn't interactive, you'd just watch and probably be appalled and worried and frightened for him in that moment. If you're making that decision, how does that affect your relationship with the film? Do you then feel more wretched?" Guess you better watch it for yourself to find out.
Game of Thrones: If You Haven't Heard This Seven Deadly Sins Theory, You're in For a Treat
With the season eight premiere of Game of Thrones just a few months away, there's not much time left to theorize about how this epic story is going to end. Thankfully, there are still some cool theories on the internet that are just intriguing and unexpected enough that they could end up being true. Reddit user lobcity414 recently shared one such theory with fans. They suggest that Game of Thrones is, in part, a Biblical allegory and that the Night King might not be the ultimate evil we think that he is.
Let's start at the top. Lobcity414 begins their theory by stating that each of the great houses of Westeros represents one of the seven deadly sins. Now, there's some debate about the houses mentioned in the theory and which sin they should represent, but the theorist breaks them down like this: House Tyrell represents greed, House Baratheon is rage, House Targaryen is envy, the Martells are gluttony, House Frey represents sloth, House Stark is the embodiment of pride, and finally, House Lannister is lust.
Looking back on the series, an argument can be made for each of these correlations. For instance, pride could be seen as Ned, Robb, and Jon Snow's greatest downfalls. Remember, Ned dies because he refuses to lie about Joffrey, Tommen, and Myrcella's paternity, even if it means he could potentially survive for his own children. His desire to preserve his sense of honor at all costs leads to his house crumbling in his absence.
Which house represents which sin is just part of the theory. The key to this theory is that each one of the great houses of Westeros is corrupt in some way. They're all an embodiment of sin, and the old gods may be on a mission to set things right. The theory suggests that the Night King and his army aren't inherently evil. Instead, they're weapons of destruction being wielded by the old gods, who aren't happy about the state of Westeros. It's been stated on more than one occasion that the old gods have been forgotten outside the North. Instead, people seem more inclined to worship the Seven or the Lord of Light. That makes it all the more interesting that the greatest threat to the Seven Kingdoms is coming from the deepest part of the North.
In the Bible, God sends a great flood to wipe out all of mankind except for Noah, his family, and the animals they bring with them on their ark. The Night King and his army could be Westeros's version of the great flood - a cleansing designed to give the Seven Kingdoms a fresh start and turn the remaining people back to the old ways and the old gods. There's no doubt this is a cynical theory. At its heart, it suggests that the flawed nature of the core families is so great that they must be eradicated in order for Westeros to flourish. That bit feels flimsy since the show is all about embracing the fact that no one is completely evil or good. However, the idea that the Night King isn't just a bad guy, but rather an agent for something much larger than we could ever expect, is intriguing.
If the Night King portion of the theory proves to be true, then Game of Thrones could be heading for a far bleaker ending than we previously thought. After all, only one family survived the Biblical flood, and if the same thing happens in Westeros, then the fate of the Seven Kingdoms will be sealed.

12 Action-Packed TV Shows That Jack Ryan Fans Will Love
The action-packed drama of Jack Ryan proved to be one of 2018's best TV surprises. The Amazon series packed in plenty of twists and jaw-dropping moments in its first season, but none of it would have worked if not for John Krasinski's perfect everyman CIA agent performance. The man who gave the world The Office's Jim Halpert quickly revealed himself to be a capable and swoonworthy action star as Jack moved seamlessly from his desk job to taking on a deadly mission to stop a terrorist organization.
Amazon has, thankfully, ordered a second season of Jack Ryan, but while you wait for it to debut, there's no reason why you can't indulge in these quality shows that will serve up the same level of action that you've come to crave, thanks to Krasinski's brilliant character.
If This Game of Thrones Theory Is True, Bran Is Even More Important Than We Thought
It's all too easy to forget that, at its heart, Game of Thrones is a story of light versus darkness. On one side of the battle is R'hllor and his champion, Azor Ahai, or the Prince That Was Promised. On the other side is a being far more mysterious than the Lord of Light - the Great Other and his army of the dead led by the Night King. As season eight approaches, there's been plenty of discussion about who Azor Ahai reborn will be, but precious few people are questioning whether or not the Great Other will be revealed to be a physical person. In the A Song of Ice and Fire books it's revealed that the Great Other's true name is never spoken, which leads to the possibility that a big reveal could be coming. Who is the god of the cold, dark, and the night? All signs currently point to the Great Other being none other than Bran Stark, and if the hints are true, then it could be the most devastating twist of them all.
As Reddit user CappieXL points out, Bran's powers as the Three-Eyed Raven are immense. He can see all of time, and having that much knowledge dumped into his head is making Bran significantly less human than he once was. Now, the previous Three Eyed-Raven appears to have been in opposition of the Night King, which makes the idea that Bran could be the god for whom the Night King is a champion a bit hard to swallow. But let's go back to the time before Bran receives all of his powers. At one point, he sees the Night King as he's on one of his trips through time, but the Night King sees him, too, and with one touch the leader of the army of the dead knows exactly where to find the Stark boy. This implies a connection between Bran and the Night King that Bran may not fully understand.
Now, the Reddit theory posits that Bran is actually R'hllor, and the Night King is the Great Other, but if we work with the origin story presented by the show, the Night King is created by the Children of the Forest. That suggests he's an agent of the Great Other, as Melisandre states - she calls the Night King and his army the "cold children" of the Great Other. Meanwhile, R'hllor is the god of light, a figure that doesn't appear to have a physical counterpart. Instead, he has a representative to do his bidding on Earth and stop the Great Other from spreading his darkness across the world. That representative is the Prince (or Princess) That Was Promised.
Just because R'hllor doesn't have a physical counterpart, that doesn't mean the Great Other doesn't either. In fact, there's evidence in the books that Bran is working with the god of the cold, even if his service is unwitting. As the A Song of Ice and Fire wiki points out, Melisandre sees a vision in the flames of "a wooden face, corpse white, a thousand red eyes, and a boy with a wolf's head beside him." The boy with the wolf's head is believed to be Bran, a theory that is backed up by the Three-Eyed Raven (known as the Bloodraven in the books) telling him: "'Never fear the darkness, Bran.' The lord's words were accompanied by a faint rustling of wood and leaf, a slight twisting of his head. 'The strongest trees are rooted in the dark places of the earth. Darkness will be your cloak, your shield, your mother's milk. Darkness will make you strong.'"
If Bran's powers are rooted in the darkness and his ability to see all things at once, then he may not have realized that he's the Great Other yet. Or perhaps he has, and he's manipulating his mortal family into position to face off against the Night King, knowing that they'll fail. Throughout season seven, it's made pretty clear that Bran as we knew him no longer exists. He's now in touch with a power that's so large that he can see everything happening at once. That kind of power could be corrupting by nature, and it could lead to someone like Jon Snow, who is strongly hinted to be Azor Ahai reborn, having to kill Bran in order to truly stop the coming darkness. Because if Bran is the Great Other, then the Night King is simply a figurehead, which means the battle facing Jon, Daenerys, Arya, and the rest of the remaining characters is far more insidious than they could ever expect.
Actual Celebrities Are Using POPSUGAR's Celebrity Twin App Now, and Oh My Gosh
Sure, people might tell you you're a dead ringer for a certain celebrity, but how can you really be sure? Well, there's a tool for that! Last year, POPSUGAR launched #Twinning, a website that presents users with their celebrity doppelgängers . . . to varying degrees of success, admittedly. You probably even saw several celebrities sharing their results in recent weeks. (For the most part, they got matched with themselves.) It's not quite a game, not quite a meme, but you'll definitely want to share the results. Some of them are perfect; some look nothing like you - and that's the fun of it.
It's simple: #Twinning analyzes a selfie or uploaded photo, then compares it to a massive database of celebrity photos to find matches, and finally gives you a "twinning percentage" for your top five look-alikes.
The tool itself is pretty simple: it analyzes a selfie or uploaded photo, compares it to a massive database of celebrity photos to find matches, and gives you a "twinning percentage" for your top five look-alikes. You might pair with a famous politician, an old-school Hollywood starlet, or a reality TV personality, and the results will vary based on which photo you upload! Now, fair warning that your matches might bring up some fairly existential feelings: Do I really look like my mom's favorite '90s soap star? You're a 35-year-old woman - how on earth is Jacob Tremblay your match? Hey, it happens.
Check out some of POPSUGAR's very own matches ahead, as well as a few celebrity matches, then prepare to be hooked when you try the free tool for yourself. Let us know your doppelgänger(s), whether they're spot-on or hilariously wrong - it's all in good fun!

The Beverly Hills, 90210 Reboot Is Not Quite a Reboot, and We're Not Mad About It
It looks like our early Christmas present might not be exactly what we were expecting. On Dec. 20, news dropped that a "reboot" of the iconic Beverly Hills, 90210 was being pitched around to various networks. The project, which is reportedly in early development, was described as an "untraditional reboot," in the sense that the actors "are not reprising their original characters." Initially we wondered how the reboot would work with characters not being played by their original actors - but now we have an answer to all of that! According to TVLine, while the new series does feature some of the original cast, it isn't a reboot or a revival at all.
Before you decide you're not interested in anything but the return of the Peach Pit Posse, hear us out. TVLine reports that the scripted series is actually an "hour-long mockumentary-style dramedy" that's inspired by the '90s teen drama. The original 90210 cast members involved - Jennie Garth, Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green, and Gabrielle Carteris - would be playing exaggerated versions of themselves rather than their iconic characters. Other notable alums, like Shannen Doherty and Luke Perry, are not currently attached (though who knows what the future may bring). The potential series will follow the trials and tribulations of the group's efforts to get (another) 90210 revival on TV.
Let's be real, that's definitely a more original approach considering the plethora of reboots and revivals that cropped up in 2018. As previously reported, CBS TV Studios is handling the project with writer-executive producers Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini, the same duo that worked on The CW's rebooted 90210 series. While we're a little disappointed we won't be revisiting Donna and the crew, color us intrigued in seeing where this series goes!
6 New Stranger Things Season 3 Theories That Just Might Flay Your Mind
If it feels like nearly an eternity has passed since the last season of Stranger Things, it's because it's basically been an eternity since the last season of Stranger Things. Luckily, Netflix has kicked off the year by giving us the news we've been waiting for: an official premiere date! True to form, the little teasers and posters and episode titles are laden with small hints about what's to come, so we've done a bunch of legwork to put together some pretty convincing theories for season three. We're talking road trips, more secret laboratories, and a potential epidemic in the town of Hawkins!
