The Perfect Personalized Gift: DIY Tile Photo Coasters
Perfect for any special day, a set of these tile photo coasters will cost less than $5 to make. The square tiles from your local home goods store makes this DIY a unique way to showcase your favorite Instagram snaps. All you need is some Mod Podge and a bit of felt to complete this fun project. Stack and wrap the finished photo coasters with a ribbon, and you've got the perfect gift for someone special. These coasters are so cute, you'll probably end up making another set for yourself.
What You'll Need:
- Four 4-by-4-inch white tiles
- Four 4-by-4-inch square pictures
- Scissors
- Mod Podge
- Foam brush
- Felt
- Hot glue gun
- Length of ribbon
- Clear spray sealant
Directions:
- Pick up small white tiles at your local home goods store, which will run you less than a dollar each. You can also go with a colored tile for a more personalized DIY. Select pictures to use for the project, resize to four by four inches on your computer, then print. Select images to fit the special day, such as cute shots of your nieces and nephews for Mother's Day, snow-filled pictures for the holiday seasons, or fun snaps for a special birthday.
- Cut out the pictures, rounding the edges, which gives the finished photo coasters a nice look. Coat the front of the tile with a thin layer of Mod Podge, then center and press a picture to the tile. Let dry for 20 minutes, then coat the top of the picture with a light coating of Mod Podge, brushing horizontally then vertically. Let dry for another 20 minutes and then lightly coat again, sealing the top of the coaster and ensuring the photo is completely adhered to the tile.
- Cut four small one-inch squares from the felt for each tile, and use a hot glue gun to stick one square of felt to each corner of the tile. Give the dry photo coasters a quick coat of clear spray sealant, which will completely moisture-proof the finished project.
- Wrap the finished stacked tile photo coasters with a length of ribbon, and they are ready to give to someone special. Or keep them for yourself and enjoy the next time you're savoring your favorite beverage.
There's a 41-Pound Cat Named Barsik Who's in Desperate Need of a Forever Home
At this very moment, at least 3.2 million cats in the US are in need of a forever home. And while I can't bring home any more furbabies without risking eviction, I'm praying that someone can swoop in and scoop up Barsik, a very handsome 41-pound male who's currently living with his foster mom. Although Barsik's weight certainly makes him stand out on social media, the 5-year-old kitty is embarking on a weight loss journey so he can set himself up for success with his new family. Read through to get a look at Barsik's life with his foster mama, and keep tabs on his Instagram account to see when he'll be available for adoption.

How Stitch Lab's Founder Has Created a Space For Emerging Latinx Designers to Thrive
Sometimes, we go about life thinking we have everything figured out because we worked hard for what we wanted, didn't settle, and achieved success in our careers. But then we realize there's so much more that we didn't know we loved doing, and while it's scary at first, the universe aligns to push us to take that giant leap into the unknown, and oh, how rewarding that is!
Karina Rosendo is the founder of Stitch Lab, a talent incubator based out of Miami that supports emerging designers from Latin America. But when she was starting out, she had no intentions of working in fashion at all. A native from Caracas, Venezuela, she came to the US at the age of 18 to pursue her love of journalism and TV production. She enrolled in the University of Miami, where she got her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and then a master's in creative documentaries.
After college, her life was set. Or so she thought. She was recruited by CNN, where she covered breaking news for three years. She then became a producer for several shows at Telefutura, which led her to move to Univision, where she spearheaded the launch and development of the network's morning show social media platforms. She was also involved with the special events team, producing major red carpet events such as Premio Lo Nuestro and the Latin Grammys. She became an established journalist, TV producer, and digital marketing strategist, producing over a dozen live shows, 20 documentaries, and countless digital campaigns.
But in 2016, during a work trip to New York Fashion Week, Karina realized the lack of Latin American talent represented on the runways. She knew that fashion in Latin America had experienced remarkable growth over the past years and had seen through her travels back to her native Venezuela and neighboring countries the quality, creativity, talent, and craftsmanship behind the work of local designers.
She knew she had to do something about it. The ideas were boiling in her head. She knew of these incredible Latinx designers who needed to be pushed through an international filter to succeed, but how could she help them?
"I had always dreamt of creating a project where I could help empower other people, especially Latina women," Karina told POPSUGAR. "I also knew that I wanted to produce beautiful, experiential events, and of course I've always had a deep love for fashion. All of that was brewing in my head for a couple of years until I became a mom. I then realized that I had to get organized and jump out of corporate, in order to make my dream job happen. I saw an opportunity for bringing awareness to Latin American talent in the US through my events."
With a lot of planning and organizing, Karina launched Stitch Lab in 2018. Since its launch, the company has propelled more than 50 brands in the US and has curated pop-ups between Miami and Las Vegas.
Through Stitch Lab, Karina supports emerging, high-end Latin American designers and helps build awareness around their brand in the US, simply because a lot of these designers don't have the resources to sell in the States. "At Stitch Lab, we are working hard to break barriers and give Latin American designers an equal opportunity in the US fashion arena, making their voices heard, helping them expand their business through thoughtful development, and spotlighting their respective messaging and manufacturing consciousness," Karina said.
Her dramatic career change has not come without obstacles, but that hasn't stopped her from continuing on her mission. "It has been a little challenging, but it has also been so enriching," Karina said. "I have learned so much about the fashion and retail business, and have met so many incredible people, that I feel it is worth the sacrifices."
This year, Stitch Lab is hosting a two-day pop-up in Miami on April 26 and 27, with the theme "Oasis, a Fashion Utopia," to showcase 36 designers within two days at the M Building in Wynwood. There will be talent from Honduras, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Peru, as well as returning brands from Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela that sold out their collections during last year's edition of this event.
The event - which is free to the public - offers a one-of-a-kind immersive shopping experience while hosting panels and workshops throughout the two days, covering topics such as fashion sustainability, the future of media, and leadership.
"I know people will enjoy the experience and will embrace this immersive new way of shopping," Karina said of this event. "We ultimately want to position Stitch Lab as the leading platform in the US, providing international buyers with unique Latin American pieces through a highly engaging shopping experience."
Kate del Castillo Empowers Female MMA Fighters Through Combate Americas Partnership
Kate del Castillo is one of the most badass women on TV. She's starred in dozens of telenovelas and films, she's served as an advocate for social causes, she's been a spokesperson for brands like L'Oréal and Ford, she has her own tequila, and she even caused some trouble when she found drug dealer El Chapo before authorities could. Kate is unstoppable, and she continues to fight in this male-dominated world with a brand-new partnership with premier Hispanic Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) franchise Combate Americas.
Together, Kate and Combate Americas are working to redefine the world of combat sports. The Mexican actress acquired an equity stake in the company and is now an owner and significant shareholder of Combate Americas. "I'm the chair of the advisory board and I will make sure there's equality between our male and female athletes," Kate told POPSUGAR. "I will have a saying in the decision-making process and I want to give these female fighters a voice. I want to make sure they're taken care of and that they can grow within the franchise."
Kate's most immediate point of focus as an owner will be the upcoming Las Reinas del Combate at Galen Center in Los Angeles on Friday, April 26. It will be the first time in history that a combat sports event will feature an all-women's lineup on broadcast television. "This is a time when women are dominating, and I want to do my fair share to continue this trend," Kate said. "I find this an incredible event and I applaud Combate Americas for daring to do it, for not being scared to lose audience, but to gain it. I applaud how the franchise is making more women want to come to the fights and enjoy it."
The actress doesn't view MMA as violent. "I see this as a discipline, like any other sport, with incredible athletes that have inspiring stories." And it's precisely these stories that fuel Kate and inspire her to keep going, to continue pushing through and making her way not only as a famous actress and brand ambassador but also as an entrepreneur. "When I see these women fighters, I'm humbled. They motivate me to carry on. They move me to look in the mirror and be proud of who I've become," Kate said.
As someone who has been highly successful with everything she sets her eyes on, Kate offered some insights on her process. "I live in the here and now. If you start thinking of all the things you haven't achieved yet, you won't be happy with yourself. You have to be conscious of what you've already accomplished and acknowledge that, let that sink in, and enjoy it," she said. "I try not to set strict goals. Those tend to limit you, because you're so focused on getting there that you forget to look around and see other opportunities that might be arising from that journey."

Your iPhone Tracks Your Frequent Locations, So Alexa, Play "Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell
The more I learn about the iPhone, the more I feel that it's capable of doing pretty much anything. It can help you track your sleep, get your life together with the help of its apps, and even acts as a mini portable scanner (I know, how is this even possible?!). This popular smartphone is nothing short of impressive, so you can only imagine my amazement when I only recently found out that it tracks your most frequent locations and logs them.
If you're like me and interested in finding out where you've been lately or where you spend a lot of your time, all you have to do is go into Settings on your iPhone, tap on Privacy, and tap Location Services. From here, scroll down to System Services, and then tap Significant Locations (it may read as "Frequent Locations" if you have an earlier iOS). It will then show you the places you've frequented recently - in my case it was a lot of grocery stores, such as Trader Joe's, a juice cafe, and my coworking space.
Of course, not everyone may want to have their most visited locations tracked on their phone. If you'd rather not know, there's an easy way to opt out of this feature. All you have to do is go to Significant Locations under System Services and make sure the green tab is swiped off to the left.
A Letter to the Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law I'll Never Have
Dear Celene & Hugh,
These words have been in the back of my mind for months now, so I'm sorry that it look me so long to finally get them out. I know that you will never read this letter in an official sense, but I feel in the deepest part of my heart that you can still hear me. And as a writer, I've always been better at putting my feelings into letters, so bear with me for just a few minutes while I talk about your son, my soon-to-be-husband.
You see, the last year of our lives has been a mix of the happiest and saddest days. We got engaged in August, and Celene, you passed away in October. Hugh, it's so hard to believe that you've been gone for 13 years, but the stories I hear from your 10 children (seriously, 10) make me feel like I know you, and that's something I will always be grateful for. But Celene, you were in my life for five and a half wonderful years. In that time - those late nights watching murder mystery shows, the endless cups of tea, the Sunday dinners - you became like a second mom to me. While many people in my life constantly complained about their significant other's parents, I was so grateful to just have one of them . . . and to love you as much as I did, and still do.
I promise to never, ever let you leave us, despite the fact that you're not here.
I know that you both know your son very well (you're his parents, after all), and that you continue to watch over him together. You were there for every scraped knee, missed homework assignment, and movie night. You proudly sat at his graduations, dressed him up in funny outfits for picture day, and, from what I hear, always let him curse the way he does now (I love it, to be honest). But every time I think about the future - our upcoming wedding day, having our first child, needing help when buying him a birthday gift - the hole in my heart seems to get just a little bit bigger. His past is wrapped up entirely in you, and it breaks my heart that we have to build a future together without you there.
When you get married, the deal is that you inherit the other person's family whether you like them or not. And it's almost a fashionable thing to complain about your in-laws (they're around too much, my mother-in-law is so invasive, can they knock?!), but having you two as my second set of parents would have brought nothing but more love and joy to my life. And you know why I'm so sure? Because of your son. You raised such an incredible man. The kind of man that still called you "darling" and "love" whenever he called home, Celene. The kind of man that fiercely respects women because of you, Hugh. The kind of man that has made our life together so wonderful because of the example you two set for him - his parents that used to fall asleep holding hands every night.
And I wish you were here so that I could tell you all of this in person, dance with you at our wedding, and call you for advice once we start a family (seriously, 10 kids? How. Did. You. Do. That.), but the fact that you're not hits me on a daily basis. You're Mom and Dad No. 2 for me, and I want you to know that I promise to never, ever let you leave us, despite the fact that you're not here. Because as heartbroken as we are by your absence, I can still always feel you around . . . something I don't ever plan on complaining about.
Love,
Your Daughter-in-Law

15 Relationship Milestones That Are Just as Meaningful as Marriage
I've never really been one for the idea of love at first sight. Because love is something you do, NOT something you feel. I believe it takes time to build love. While some couples may feel love for each other right away, they haven't actually shown love to each other until they've been together for a while. And for most couples, even just feeling the love can take months or even years. Although every couple is different, these are the milestones most people hit before deciding for certain that their partner is the one. In fact, many of these can be just as meaningful as marriage, because not all couples choose to show their love with a traditional exchange of "I dos."
These 3-Stone Engagement Rings Have a Very Special Meaning Behind Them

Does Cannabis Make You Creative? It’s Complicated
The following post was originally published on Miss Grass.
A woman smokes a joint at the DOPE Cup in Portland, Oregon, on October 4.
"This is quite good. I might be a creative genius!" is what my friend mumbled to me - internal monologue clearly up to max volume - when we were about 18. She was finishing off the piece de resistance that was her contribution to the lower third of an "exquisite corpse" drawing, doodled with me and another friend on a notepad. Whether or not the drawing itself was good (it wasn't) isn't the point. The point is she thought it was good. The weed she'd smoked had obviously loosened her up; made her more creative. Like my friend, most of us take that kind of assumption as a given. But the story of cannabis and creativity isn't so black and white.
Jenna Habayeb is the CMO of Canndescent, a premium cannabis company whose just-released Stylus pen (that resembles a gorgeous writing pen) is a THC vaporizer made for the creative process, complete with the tagline "Write your story." Aside from the literal meaning, Habayeb says, "It's about the idea of self-discovery and choosing your effect to create your own journey or story." And when it comes to her own journey with cannabis as a tool to unlock creativity, she believes "cannabis really helps with that, and when it comes to being creative it expands and opens your mind. It's like it unlocks this stream of curiosity and questioning, which is so great for the creative process and just pushing you to think outside the norm."
She continues: "I find that I get interesting, creative ideas that I can apply to a whole range of different aspects of my life and work." Habayeb is far from the only one with that hot take. Steve Jobs said smoking cannabis made him feel "relaxed and creative," while the great Maya Angelou said "walking on the streets became high adventure, eating my mother's huge dinners an opulent entertainment, and playing with my son was side-cracking hilarity." Then there are creatives like Susan Sontag, Martha Stewart, and even William Shakespeare, apparently. Blazers, all.
"It's not an accident that I include the option of a glass [of wine] or some quality cannabis during most AllSwell workshops," says Laura Rubin, the founder of AllSwell, a passion project that sees her hold journaling workshops, host creative excursions, and more - all with therapeutic self-expression as her North Star. She, too, believes induced states can lower our inhibitions, meaning we're more likely to freely express ourselves without judgment. Recently, in partnership with Miss Grass and Canndescent, Rubin hosted a creative journal-writing workshop that was designed to do just that - and the rave reviews spoke for themselves.
"If you're all locked up, worried about your output being great, it can prevent you from making anything at all," Rubin says. "That's, in part, where writer's block comes from. Removing a self-critical filter with some help in the form of a substance ally can help jump-start that process."
Jade Daniels of Portland-based weed-positive creative agency and brick-and-mortar store, Ladies of Paradise, agrees. "Some of my best work has come when I've been super stoned," she says. "I find myself thinking of things in depth and contemplating situations and ideas when I'm high that I normally wouldn't consider sober."
Her business partner, Harlee Case, echos her sentiments: "I basically can't write music without smoking weed. To be careful and careless at the same time, I have to be high. Consuming cannabis lets me trust my instincts and really let my heart lead." That description of being both careful and careless is something anyone who's smoked flower and gone about creating something - anything - will understand immediately. At once, there's focus and fluidity. Vigilance and carefree decision making. The perfect creative storm.
If it sounds dreamy, that's because it is. But, as anyone who's been there can also attest to, it's not all strokes of genius and prolific artistic output when you get high. You could also get sidetracked. Or find that elusive part of the brain responsible for productivity has fallen asleep on you, metaphorically if not quite literally. It's a delicate dance between creative bursts of inspiration, and koala-like desire to simply hang TF out, with no art-making or great American novel-writing necessary.
Rubin knows what I'm on about: "For some folks, they can be most creatively productive in a near-monastic state of [sober] simplicity because the fewer the distractions, the clearer the channel. There's no one-size-fits-all recipe. I think there are as many relationships to cannabis as there are people, and those ebb and flow based on where individuals are in their lives."
Mennlay Golokeh Aggrey is the author of The Art of Weed Butter and an interdisciplinary cannabis entrepreneur legally working with marijuana since 2005. She knows all about the "double-edged sword" that can be stoned creativity. "I cannot smoke a fatty joint and expect to write a masterpiece," she says. "Unless it's CBD flower. Otherwise I'd get too caught up on its perfection and might not get as much down on paper. I can, however, design (websites, graphics, vignettes) beautifully when I'm high."
What's weird is that even science kind of agrees. Despite many, many studies into the link between cannabis and creativity, the jury is more or less still out when it comes to the implications for the stoned auteurs among us. Some evidence even points to the possibility of the high artiste trope as being just that; a stereotype. Weed may not make you as creative as you think it does.
Take the results of one 2012 UK study. According to the team's findings, getting high on the reg may actually decrease creative thinking skills; however, they're quick to add, cannabis's effects vary depending on an individual's personality. But that's not the full story either (thank goodness).
A 2017 study from Washington State University found that creative people are simply more likely to enjoy getting high. The researchers suggest: "While mainstream media has propagated the idea that cannabis expands the mind and enhances creativity, our results show that the link between cannabis and creativity is largely a spurious correlation driven by differences in personality (i.e., openness to experience) that are related to both cannabis use and augmented creativity."
As primary author of the study and graduate instructor in psychology at Washington State University, Emily La France tells me, "openness to experience" is a personality trait. "Being very open to experience makes a person more willing to try different things and seek out new experiences," she says. "Individuals who are very open to experience tend to be more likely to try mind-altering substances, such as cannabis; they also tend to be creative."
She adds: "There is some evidence from previous research - not my own - that acute states of intoxication induced by cannabis (or alcohol) may enhance some forms of creative thought. So, there may be some truth to the idea that intoxication from cannabis (or alcohol), may help people generate ideas when they are working on a problem."
Further supporting cannabis's case as a tool for creative thinking (if not output) overall is the fact that a study conducted in 2010 showed that marijuana's "primary property" is its ability to increase the "hyper-priming process." What's that, you ask? Just the process your brain goes through when making connections between two similarly unrelated things.
What they're describing is the golden, sacred "Aha!" moment. THC fans know it well. It's the ability to connect the dots. To see one thing and make comparisons to another. You know, to view the world through the lens of an artist. Daniels, with no awareness of the study, sums it up by saying, "Being high opens up your mind and makes you think about things differently, and with that openness and free thinking allows you to create and execute ideas in elevated ways."
And if that's not creative, I don't know what is. "Ideas come to mind under the effects of cannabis that normally wouldn't be present," she continues. "Thoughts and actions are executed differently when you're high, and I find myself feeling more artistic and creating something with new ideas and ways outside of the norm."
Of course, this doesn't mean that you need cannabis to be creative. Far from it. As La France puts it, "Just because there is a link between cannabis use and creativity certainly does not mean that all individuals who use cannabis are more creative than those that don't. Furthermore, I believe you can increase your creativity throughout your lifetime through practice, critical thought, and by seeking out new experiences."
On the flip side, if you're looking to explore using THC-based cannabis products (like the new Stylus) for the first time, go slow and experiment. "Everyone is creative deep down. Cannabis is a tool to unlock it," says Case. And if you're looking for specific ideas, Daniels is your gal. "I'd recommend smoking before doing activities or grabbing some materials to collage, paint, or write and seeing where your mind takes you," she says.
Aggrey has similar advice. "It's arrogant for me to tell non-cannabis users what to do with their lives," she says. "However, if there is a moment in time when they feel comfortable trying cannabis for the first time, in a safe and comfortable space – I'd recommend they try something creative during that moment. Just to assess how it feels."
She continues: "Honestly, I am creative whether I'm high or not. And sometimes I'm not creative. That's just the way it works. Personally, it's about where my biorhythms are at and if I'm in a good place mentally – rather than if I've consumed cannabis."
So can we definitely state that there's a link between cannabis and being more creative? It's complicated, friends. Despite findings around openness to experience and the hyper-primer process, there's no statistical case for the creative benefits of cannabis overall - and a little evidence to say that in some cases, it might have a slight negative effect.
But that's the thing about creativity; it's elusive as hell. The ancient Greeks thought a goddess had to visit you (which rarely happened, presumably) just to get a glimpse of authentic inspiration.
Capturing the essence of creativity is not unlike trying to describe a really good high. You can try, but you won't be doing it justice. Anyways, "measuring" creativity in a scientific lab is fascinating, but possibly a little antithetical to the cause. If you're the kind of person that ~feels~ creative when high, then maybe you are. And even if you aren't, at least having a really good time. More power to you.
Yes, You Absolutely Can Say "No" to Being a Bridesmaid - Here's How
Being asked to be in someone's wedding is usually an amazing moment. I remember when my sister presented me with a hand-designed card that read, "Will you be my matron of honor?" I cried. Like, ugly cried. My best friend's bridesmaid proposal likewise left me in tears. I felt so special and excited to stand next to her on the most important day of her life. But then there was the time a friend, whom I didn't even think would invite me to her wedding, let alone ask me to be in it, hit me with, "I want you to be my maid of honor!" Um, huh? What? I wanted to sink through the floor. Because I figured I couldn't say "no." Yet, given how big of a time and financial commitment it is to be in a person's wedding, that's exactly what I wanted to do.
Unfortunately, since I worried about hurting her feelings, I said "yes." And guess what? Predictably, I regretted my decision. I ended up spending way more money than I could, and was forced to take time off from work to participate in the obligatory bachelorette festivities, the bridal shower, several wedding dress fittings, the rehearsal dinner, and of course, the wedding itself. Worst of all was that the bride-to-be acted ungrateful for everything I did. Why didn't I just go with my gut?
To solidify the fact that I had indeed made a mistake by putting someone I wasn't even that close with first and not thinking of my own happiness and mental health, I asked wedding etiquette experts if saying "no" to being a bridesmaid is actually OK. Jessica Garda, a wedding event planner from Pittsburgh, tells POPSUGAR, "I get that the idea of saying 'no' to being a bridesmaid terrifies most people, but the simple fact is that sometimes you need to say 'no.' Being a bridesmaid can be a huge commitment!"
She suggests talking to the bride about what her expectations are for the role: "Are they just expecting you to walk down the aisle and stand next to them? Or do they want you to plan all the pre-wedding events and spend potentially thousands of dollars on a dress, showers, and bachelorette parties?" Once you understand what being a bridesmaid will entail, Garda says it's perfectly reasonable to decline.
Um, but how? And without offending them or ruining your relationship? "Start by telling them how honored and touched you are that they asked you," she advises. "Then be honest about why you're saying 'no.' Try saying, 'This is huge responsibility and I don't think I have the time to fully commit to it.' Or, 'I'm just not in a place to afford all these expenses.'" Reasons to say "no" can be more personal, like if you just got divorced or suffered a loss in your family, but honesty is always the best policy.
Amber Anderson, from Refine For Wedding Planners, also offered this advice to POPSUGAR, saying, "You can absolutely say 'no' to being a bridesmaid and at times, it's actually the most loving thing to do. No one wants a wedding attendant that isn't fully committed, so it's important to take it all into consideration." She adds it can be helpful to tell the person that you're still so excited to support and celebrate them.
Phrasing your decision to say "no" so that's it's about the bride and not you is also a really good way to go. Krista Ostrander, Wedding Specialist on behalf of The Reeds at Shelter Haven in Stone Harbor, NJ, offers up this suggestion: "Instead of saying, 'It will cost too much,' you might say, 'With starting my new job, money is really tight right now, and I would be uncomfortable being unable to contribute the same way as the rest of the group when it came to all of the special plans you deserve to have be a part of this adventure.' Or, you can say, 'With the previous commitments I already have, I worry that my schedule will really hinder what the group is trying to plan, and I don't want to put a damper on any of your wedding-related events.'"
From there, it's up to the bride to graciously accept your decision. My advice: Stick to your guns! Don't allow the person to convince you to change your mind, because you may end up back at square one, wishing you could say "no." As Jen Avey from Destination Weddings Travel Group told POPSUGAR, "It's better to say 'no' upfront than to say 'yes' and then back out later on in the planning process. A last-minute change of heart could do more damage to your relationship than if you were to just decline in the first place."
In the end, I only wish I'd known how to politely decline the invitation to be a bridesmaid. Because no one wins if a bridesmaid is standing at the alter on a bride's big day, secretly not wanting to be there.
Travelers Swear by This "Pillow," and, Hear Us Out, It Looks Weird but Also Very Comfy
Whether you are traveling by plane, train, or automobile, taking a nap while on the go can be very troublesome. It's hard to get comfortable, even with a traditional U-shaped travel pillow, and the likelihood of a stiff neck is pretty much a given. Fortunately, it sounds like avid travelers have finally found a game-changing product that'll allow you to nap pretty much anywhere: the Trtl Travel Pillow ($30).
The "pillow" is more of a wrap - made with supersoft fleece and available in four colors (black, gray, red, and coral) - that Velcros around your neck to offer support. According to the brand, the pillow is scientifically proven to support your head and neck unlike any other travel pillow, because it is padded with memory foam ensuring maximum comfort and support while you sleep. Its patented design allows it to fit any neck, jaw, and shoulder shape, too, even though it's half the size of a regular U-shaped pillow, weighing in at only half a pound and folding almost flat, which means you can easily stuff it into a backpack or carryon.
More than 3,000 people have rated the product on Amazon. One recent Amazon reviewer said: "[I] was able to sleep comfortably on the plane. I won't travel without it!" Another reviewer contended, "Best travel pillow I've had, and I've tried them all." Our very own editors have tested and given the funky-looking pillow a must-try seal of approval. So there's nothing more to say; give it a try!
All the Details About the 2019 Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom
It's evidently never too early to start planning holiday festivities at Walt Disney World. The resort recently announced the dates for its annual Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, and tickets are already on sale. This year's event will take place on select evenings between Nov. 8 and Dec. 22, with the actual week of Christmas offering different celebrations and parades.
Why attend Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party? For starters, the park is exclusively open for party ticket holders from 7 p.m. to midnight. So, fewer people means slightly smaller crowds. While many popular rides will be open throughout the party, the focus is mostly on the holiday parade, fireworks display, and Frozen-themed stage show. That's in addition to the specialty food items and beverages included in the price of admission.
If that all sounds like an ideal holiday getaway to you, the exact dates for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party are as follows:
- Nov. 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, and 24.
- Dec. 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, and 22.
Tickets range from $99 to $139 for adults - $94 to $134 for children - depending on the evening. Though you save $10 by buying in advance, heads up that the party ticket is in addition to the standard Magic Kingdom park ticket for that day.

I Want to Be Wearing That: Lily-Rose Depp's Bodysuit and Mom Jeans
Yes, yes, YES, Lily-Rose Depp! This is such a '90s mom summertime outfit that I'm doing double-takes. First, I'm seeing Vanessa Paradis (her mom), then I'm blinking back to old photos of my mom. It's crazy. And I love the compact visor sunglasses, too, a nod to all the dads out there. Lily-Rose has a knack for making any ensemble look effortless, even on the red carpet at the Met Gala or in the front row at the Chanel show. But it's her relaxed street style that I like to muse over.
Lily-Rose makes you think she's got no more than 10 items in her closet from her pared-down combination. I like it when she throws vintage vibes into the mix with a faded, compact top-handle bag or brushstroke florals. Even her worn-in Levi's have a magic touch. They flatter her figure, grazing her Reeboks in such a way that I want to cut all my jeans to this height. It's OK to make this your go-to uniform for brunch this season if that's what you were thinking. Let's just make sure we're not booking bottomless mimosas at the same place, because I'll be at the table next to you in an identical outfit.

Vans Dropped a David Bowie Collection, and Yes, Patent-Leather Sneakers Are Involved
Vans is back at it with another collaboration, this time honoring David Bowie's iconic legacy. The footwear brand just released a collection inspired by the late artist, and you better believe the sneakers are out-of-this-world cool. All six pairs of kicks in the line incorporate prominent details that pay homage to Bowie's greatest hits and various personas.
The Vans Classic Eras are modeled after the album cover art for his first hit single, "Space Oddity," featuring a blue and green polka-dotted pattern. Meanwhile, a pair of Vans Old Skools got the iridescent treatment and showcases the motif perhaps most synonymous with Bowie: the red and blue lightning bolt. Oh, and there's also a red patent-leather pair of Sk8-Hi Platforms, too!
The entire Vans x David Bowie collection is now available online and in select stores. Take an up-close peek at the one-of-a-kind sneakers ahead, and get ready to unleash your inner Ziggy Stardust.
Eloquii's Eye-Catching Collection Makes Us Want to Match Our Makeup With Our Outfits
No idea what to do with that neon blue eyeshadow or what to pair with those bright orange heels at the bottom of your closet? Eloquii has you covered. The chic curvy fashion brand has teamed up with celebrity makeup artist Priscilla Ono and Beautycon to put together a 12-piece Summer collection for sizes 14 to 28 that's all about looking good and feeling great - and we've got our eyes on that neon green jumpsuit.
"Beauty, to me, means confidence. I've never been ashamed of my size; I've never been ashamed of my background; and I wanted to do who I am justice by being really great at what I do," Priscilla said in Eloquii's announcement video.
Available in a range of bright and vivid colors, the Eloquii x Priscilla Ono collection is the brand's first collaboration with a makeup artist, and her passion for color is shining through in every sheer top and flowy palazzo pant. "These pieces were designed so that you can mix and match with your current wardrobe. I really love this vibe where it's utilitarian yet feminine. That is what our collaboration really is."
For Priscilla, the collaboration with Eloquii was especially important to create a space where curvy shoppers can feel confident and be bold in their style choices. "We're all about diversity. We're all about empowerment and celebrating your size and how you look," she said. "For me, as a makeup artist, when I give somebody that confidence - when they look great and when their outfit is right and when their hair is done right and they just have this beaming confidence - it just ricochets back into me and it makes me feel great."
Most importantly, Priscilla said this collection is meant to inspire everyone to "wear what you want, look good, and feel good in it." So prepare yourself for a bright Summer and shop the entire collection ahead.

I Just Sent Scarlett Johansson's Crystal Sock Boots to My BF, Because My Birthday's Coming Up
Your jaw may drop when I say this, but Scarlett Johansson's crystal-encrusted sock boots are not the same brand as her dress. I know! Don't they go together so perfectly? It's just the magic of her stylist, Molly Dickson, who found the most wonderful Sophia Webster shoes to match the Miu Miu dress Scarlett wore for an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Needless to say, I love the adorable mini with its sequined bodice and gemstone-embellished pockets.
But these heels are next level. I want to wear them with cropped jeans and a t-shirt at the bar. I want to use them to jazz up my most simple LBD. Heck, I want to replace my slippers with them when I'm lounging around the house in my PJs. If you don't yet feel the same way, you just might when you zoom in on Scarlett's stunners from all angles. Good luck resisting the shopping that comes next.

I Gave Up Caffeine For 7 Days to Help My Poor Sleep, and the Results Were Surprising
I started drinking coffee when I was 17 years old. Actually, it was a french vanilla cappuccino from a gas station vending machine, and it was my jam. Then came college, followed by my first magazine job (which consisted of really long days when we were approaching deadline), and my caffeine intake slowly transformed from occasional indulgence to daily necessity.
I'm also a terrible sleeper. I don't think the latter is a direct result of my coffee intake, as I've struggled with insomnia since adolescence, but it can't be doing me any favors. Especially since it's not uncommon to find me slugging back a cold brew at 2 or 3 in the afternoon. I've read studies that suggest caffeine can throw off your circadian rhythm - particularly when consumed past a certain time of day. So, in the name of precious sleep, I decided to swear off all caffeine for seven consecutive days to see if it would help me achieve more restful sleep.
Before I give you the full recap, I will say this: there are two big problems with my sleep cycle. Not only do I toss and turn and have trouble falling asleep, but I'm also a hyper-light sleeper and wake up multiple times throughout the night. Double the fun! Here's what went down.
I Found Other Ways to Stay Energized
On day one of my caffeine-free week, I will admit I was pining for my usual morning pick-me-up. It's typically the official start to my day, and I missed that easy burst of energy I dependably find at the bottom of a mug. I was working from home that day, and after about an hour and a half had passed since I woke up, I decided to go to the gym to get my heart rate up. I got a green juice on the way home, and when I returned to my computer, I did in fact feel energized and alert. I thought, Hell, maybe this experiment will also do wonders for my glutes.
Over the course of the week, I was able to find alternate ways to get into work mode other than coffee: a morning run, wheatgrass shots, even a little hanky-panky.
I Did Feel Better, but Not in the Way I Expected
I will say, I did notice a slight improvement in my ability to fall asleep at night. It wasn't lights out as soon as my head hit the pillow, but I wasn't rolling around in bed and staring at the clock for an hour, as I've done many times in the past. This experiment didn't seem to solve the other problem, though - once I fell asleep, I still found myself waking up at least twice in the middle of the night.
That said, ditching caffeine did come with a rather unexpected side effect. Typically, I'm hit with random snowballs of anxiety throughout the day - everything from claustrophobia to phone anxiety. (And I'm a writer. Phone interviews are basically half my day.) To my surprise, laying off the caffeine actually helped curb the pounding heart rate and sweaty palms that would usually creep up when getting on the subway at rush hour or calling to make a doctor's appointment.
And maybe it was all those kale-based juices I consumed in the mornings, but by the end of the seven days, I felt lighter, fresher, and all around in a better mood.
So, Am I Off Caffeine For Good?
Probably not, but I did discover that there are a variety of ways to get energized other than entering a coffee shop. I will strive to keep it to only one or two cups a day max, and I'm giving myself a hard cutoff time. New rule: no caffeine after noon. I'm not convinced it will make me a rock-star sleeper (still working on that - stay tuned), but if I can shave some of the anxiety from my daily life and consume more greens, I'm on board.

Katelyn Ohashi Stands With Survivors of Sexual Abuse in Powerful New Blog Post
Once an Olympic hopeful who had a negative relationship with her body, Katelyn Ohashi is now a strong UCLA senior with a knack for performing and dynamic skills (have you seen her split-leg double layout?). Katelyn had two viral Michael Jackson floor routines - her first in 2018 and second in 2019 - featuring the moonwalk and tunes from The Jackson 5. Due to controversy over sexual abuse allegations against Michael Jackson detailed in HBO's Leaving Neverland documentary, Katelyn debuted a brand-new routine at the Pac-12 Championships. She received her sixth perfect 10 of the season on floor at the championships, this time with a performance set to all-female artists.
Katelyn told ESPN that she already planned on making a second routine - she and coach Valorie Kondos Field agreed that it would be a good way to end senior year. But in a new blog post shared on April 7, Katelyn explained in further detail why she replaced MJ with Beyoncé and got rid of the iconic moonwalk. "Post-season started to approach, finals were finishing up, and it seemed like the perfect time to make a change," she wrote. "At the same time, the documentary film Leaving Neverland came out. This sparked debate, started conversation and left me with more questions than answers about changing the routine."
Katelyn continued, "Using my voice has empowered me to take complete ownership of my life. So, in return for speaking my truth, I listen." She went on to say that her floor coach and some of her teammates are victims of sexual abuse, so she wanted to "stand beside those who know what it is like to be sexually abused, to stand beside those who know what it is like to not be heard, and to stand beside those who have lost a sense of joy."
She concluded, "I have always wanted my routine to spark joy, for all people. So I stood, and I made a change. Not to play judge or jury, but to get back to joy. If my Michael Jackson routine left even one person feeling uncomfortable or less joyful, I felt like it was in everyone's best interest to change the music to my routine." She also added that she wants this altered performance to "showcase all inspiring, strong, impactful women . . . WHO RUN THE WORLD!" Girls, obviously. (Read her full blog post here.) Ahead, check out Katelyn's new routine in case you haven't gotten a chance to see it, and prepare to feel all the joy.
