Frozen 2: 4 Theories That May Explain Why It's No Longer Winter in Arendelle

It's finally here: the trailer for Frozen 2! Six years after the original hit theaters in 2013, the sequel to Disney's biggest animated hit of the modern era is set to premiere this November. The mysterious trailer has some gorgeous visuals. but it doesn't tell us too much about the plot - just that something is coming and Elsa and the gang are on a quest to the Great Unknown to figure out how to stop it. While it's animated beautifully, the change of weather has us all theorizing about what could be behind the new environment. Full details on the plot of the film are still being kept under wraps, but we do have some thoughts as to what could be causing the de-icing.

Related: The Trailer For Frozen 2 Left Us With a LOT of Questions - Here Are Our Theories

1. It's Just the Change of Seasons

The simplest and most obvious explanation for Fall heavily featuring in the trailer? It's just the seasons changing like normal. Although the original Frozen took place in a kingdom that was, well, frozen over, Arendelle wasn't a Narnia-like land in some sort of permanent Winter. In the early scenes of the film, it's clearly Spring or Summer in the kingdom, judging by the scenery and the characters' costumes, and when Elsa is able to lift the wintry spell, the ice melts and the warm weather returns.

Given that all evidence from the original film points to Arendelle having perfectly normal seasons like anywhere else, it's most likely that it's Fall in the trailer simply because it's Fall in Arendelle. It could easily just be an artistic choice to broaden the film's visual universe and take a look at how the kingdom operates when they're not in the midst of a magically induced winter.

2. It's Actually a Climate Change Allegory

While most people think of Disney films as charming kiddie musicals, the studio has occasionally leaned into some serious modern social commentary. Wall-E, for instance, was an environmental and economic allegory, while Zootopia explored the complexities of racism and prejudice. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Frozen 2 will have some sort of climate change themes underlying the story, which would help explain the change of seasons and the melting snow.

In one part of the trailer, Elsa can be seen using her ice powers to freeze over some sort of tidal wave. While it looks like more of a training montage than an homage to the rising oceans and storms that are one of the more visible signals of climate change, it could be an easy way to present an allegory if Disney wanted to.

3. They're Not in Arendelle

Several of the shots in the trailer are of unfamiliar terrain, and while it could easily just mean that we're in a different part of Arendelle, the official trailer explains that Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and company are meant to journey through the forest, past the enchanted lands, and into the Great Unknown. So it's possible that the forest we're seeing isn't Arendelle after all and is part of the enchanted lands Pabbie mentioned.

4. It's Another Magical Season Change

When Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf, cryptically tweeted that the movie's poster holds some clues, one Twitter user noticed that the four main branches of the "snowflake" seem to contain symbols representing the four elements. Twitter user Panchecco noted, "The one on the top left is [fire emoji], on the top right (a rock floating) is [a tornado], bottom left is Elsa's icicle shaped like a diamond [water drop], and on the bottom right is a flower!"

For years, there has been a theory that Frozen 2 might introduce characters who have elemental or season-based powers like Elsa, but with the ability to induce the other seasons (fire for Summer, wind for Fall, and earth for Spring). The presence of Fall in the trailer definitely suggests that another season will play a big role, but what if it's a magically induced season just like Frozen had a magically induced Winter? That also might help explain the presence of at least two new characters who made split-second appearances in the trailer! No matter what the explanation for the new setting turns out to be, we'll be first in line to find out when Frozen 2 hits theaters on Nov. 22, 2019!

Jessica Jones Gets a Hunky New Love Interest in Season 3 - Say Hello to Erik

Just in time for Jessica Jones to go off the air, the series has introduced a hunky new love interest for its ass-kicking heroine. Because, of course.

The show has returned for a third and final outing, which sees Jessica facing off against a truly terrifying serial killer who manages to stab her in the abdomen within the first episode. Not exactly the type of guy you want handling your kitchen knifes, you know? Erik, on the other hand, is totally ready and willing to use those knives to make you the best burger you've ever had . . . and potentially also blackmail you for thousands of dollars. It's really a toss-up with him. However, since Jessica isn't pure, straight-up evil, Erik is able to put his evil-sensing superpower to rest, and the pair make a surprisingly good couple (not as hot as Jessica and Luke Cage or as healthy as Jessica and Oscar, but we'll take it).

Erik isn't a new character in the Marvel universe, either; he actually exists in the comics. In print, he's more commonly known as Mind-Wave, but he's not as charming as his onscreen counterpart is. Instead, he's a villain who uses ESP to mess with those who don't have telepathic gifts, and he drives an armored vehicle called the Think Tank that specializes in robbing banks. Although he doesn't really cross paths with Jessica Jones in the comics, he does end up as a foe for both the Punisher and Daredevil.

So, who's the actor responsible for giving you a new Marvel crush? Benjamin Walker, 36, who is perhaps best known for playing the title role in the 2012 film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. If you went to see the American Psycho adaptation on Broadway in 2016, you might also have caught him playing Patrick Bateman. If neither of those titles are ringing a bell, though, never fear - ahead you'll see all the other exciting roles he's brought to life over the years.

Jessica Jones: What You Should Know About Terrifying Season 3 Villain Gregory Salinger

Spoilers for Jessica Jones season three below, FYI!

Prepare yourself, because the third and final season of Jessica Jones will leave you with a ton of highly important questions just a few episodes in. Like, why do hot, charming strangers never offer to make me hamburgers in bars? Why can't we all have a friend like Gillian? And was the budget for season three so low that Trish's vigilante "disguise" really had to be a bedazzled beanie from Forever 21 and a lame scarf? Of course, in all seriousness, we also need to discuss season three's incredibly dangerous new villain, Gregory Salinger.

We're first introduced to the character, played by Russian Doll's Jeremy Bobb, when he stabs Jessica in the abdomen outside of her apartment and escapes as she bleeds out in the hall. We later learn that Gregory was initially after Jessica's hookup, Erik (The Choice's Benjamin Walker), who was blackmailing Gregory because he'd deduced he was a killer of some kind (Erik's power is that he can sense if someone has done evil things just by being near them).

As Jessica soon comes to discover, though Greg Salinger is a normal human man, he's an extremely formidable foe. He also makes an appearance in some Marvel comics, though he and his TV counterpart are quite different. Let's break down who he is and why he's the perfect foe for Jessica.

Who Is Gregory Salinger in Jessica Jones?

In the TV series, not only is Greg hyperintelligent (he has medical and law degrees all over his apartment walls), but he's also extremely vengeful. He deems all superheroes "cheaters" and "frauds" who have never had to work for their success. Jessica in particular rubs him the wrong way, since she's an abrasive, unapologetic alcoholic, but more importantly, because she's a woman whose strength clearly threatens and terrifies him. "You were given every advantage," he tells Erik at one point after kidnapping him. "[You were] allowed to make mistake after mistake." He also chides Jessica for having "no discipline, just brute force."

"Salinger is a deeply scarred individual, and he just, by coincidence, crosses paths with Jessica," series creator and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg explained to Entertainment Weekly of Salinger's motivations. "For him, everything about her offends him, [specifically] the fact that she's got these powers not through hard work but through some other means . . . This is someone who has worked very hard himself. But he's a very twisted dude."

So, Greg Doesn't Have Any Superpowers?

Nope, he's just a regular - albeit highly trained and psychotic - dude. He has a special gun in the comics (which you'll read about ahead), but it's nowhere to be seen in the show.

Who Is Greg Salinger in the Comics?

In Marvel comics, Greg appears as a mercenary who is more commonly known as Foolkiller, but he's not the only one - three characters in the comics use that code name, including Salinger, Ross G. Everbest, and Kurt Gerhardt. Everbest, a religious fanatic of sorts, was the first, who was notable for his choice in weapon: a "purification" ray gun that disintegrated his victims. Next up was Salinger, who took over the mantle after he got out of prison and acquired Everbest's gun, which helped him carry out his mission of executing criminals. Salinger was more of a Punisher-like figure rather than a straight-up villain, gruesomely murdering only those who broke the law. He actually joined the Defenders for a time, before deciding they were too soft and destroying their headquarters. He later went on a killing spree and was institutionalized for his crimes.

Salinger mentored and passed on the mantle of Foolkiller to Kurt Gerhardt, a fellow criminal. Gerhardt took things too far, killing not only criminals but also celebrities and industrialists, before ending up locked in the Raft. With Gerhardt out of commission, Deadpool recruits Salinger to resume his Foolkiller persona on the Mercs for Money team. Salinger agrees and even earns a degree in Psychiatry so he can be Deadpool's therapist. S.H.I.E.L.D. also hired him to help counsel violent criminals, but it didn't take long before Salinger began wantonly killing those he saw as unable to be rehabilitated.

Does Greg Salinger Fight Jessica Jones in the Comics?

The short answer is no, the two never cross paths. However, he does fight Hellcat, since she's a member of the Defenders at that time (along with Doctor Strange, the Hulk, Valkyrie, and Nighthawk). As you know Hellcat is the alias of Trish Walker, who now has powers in the TV series. Without giving too much away, Trish and Salinger have a very violent interaction in the back half of the season that leaves both sides of the fight deeply scarred (though not necessarily physically).

Is There Any Way Jessica Can Defeat Greg Salinger?

As we see in season three, Greg is just as difficult to put away as Kilgrave but for very different reasons. This time around, Jessica has trouble proving that he's a serial killer in the eyes of the law, even with a train car full of body parts and a rescued kidnap victim; he might not be super, but he is thorough, and absolutely ruthless. If she can somehow turn his intellect against him, similar to a storyline in the comics that sees him about to use the purification ray gun on himself following a fight with Spider-Man, that might be the only way to get rid of him without destroying her own life in the process.

Jennifer Aniston Sent Adam Sandler Funny Texts Before Their Kissing Scenes, Like a True Friend

Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler have the type of friendship where they can troll each other over kissing scenes. That's right, during the filming of their Netflix movie Murder Mystery, the longtime pals traded funny texts before they puckered up for the camera.

In the film, Jennifer and Adam play a husband and wife who are framed for murder on their trip to Europe. Before their characters locked lips onscreen, Jennifer had some fun teasing her costar. "She sends me texts, 'Nine days til kissing - here it comes," Adam told the Associated Press. "Get ready," Jennifer responded. She also asked him to oil up his beard beforehand, you know, as a courtesy.

Jennifer wasn't the only one who added a little humor to the romantic scenes. Adam's wife, Jackie, would shout tips at him off-screen as he went to kiss Jennifer. "When we kissed, the only awkward part is hearing my wife on the side go, 'Harder! Harder! Kiss her harder! Deeper!" he said, to which Jennifer replied, "That was awkward." Ha! Something tells us these two don't mind the awkwardness, so much as everyone's having fun.

The Sequel to A Quiet Place Will Give Us Some Much-Needed Answers About Those Aliens

A Quiet Place isn't a perfect movie, but part of its buzzy appeal is from its bold choice of breaking the traditional horror movie formula in a few ways. Like, when the youngest, cutest son in Emily Blunt and John Krasinski's family is ripped apart in the first few minutes of the movie. Or when, rather than spending precious time on an extensive flashback telling us how the aliens came to earth, it lets us come to those conclusions ourselves, choosing to focus on the present predicament the Abbott family finds themselves in. But if the lingering questions of where those sound-hunting aliens arrived from and how their invasion first began are still eating away at you, we have good news: the A Quiet Place sequel will give us some answers.

In Observer's recent interview with new cast member Brian Tyree Henry, the actor revealed a few key details about the plot of the second film, which Krasinski has been busy writing since January.

"We'll see more of that family continuing to survive and finding out that they're not the only ones. And I think that we're also going to get a few answers to the origin of where and how this whole thing happened. I think that people want to know that. But I think you're just going to see another side of it . . . more of humanity that survived this thing in this next story."

While sadly Krasinski's character, Abbot family patriarch Lee, won't be returning due to his demise in the first film, he's still on board as director, and the rest of the cast is reprising their roles: Blunt (as Evelyn Abbot), Millicent Simmonds (Regan Abbot), and Noah Jupe (Marcus Abbot). In addition to Henry, who will presumably be playing a nearby survivor who runs into the remaining Abbots, Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy is attached. Both he and Henry have experience playing friends and foes in their previous projects, from kindhearted fathers and devastatingly handsome antiheroes, to downright creepy villains and menacing politicians. It'll be interesting to see how they fit into the A Quiet Place Universe when the movie hits theaters on May 15, 2020.

We're Already Huge Fans of the Wildly Talented Cast of HBO's Euphoria

Whether you're already scandalized by HBO's new teen drama Euphoria or are ready to sign up for a lifetime subscription to ensure you never miss an episode, you can't deny that the cast does a phenomenal job. The diverse mix of actors manage to gorgeously capture how adolescence is a tragic mix of hypersexuality, crushing vulnerability, and massive confusion, day-in and day-out. If that sounds pretty intense, it is.

Based on an Israeli series of the same name, the show's ensemble cast boasts several familiar names, including actress and singer Zendaya, The Kissing Booth's Jacob Elordi, and model and LGBTQ+ rights activist Hunter Schafer. Check out the full cast list ahead and make sure to catch Euphoria when it hits HBO on Sunday, June 16.

Kate Middleton Looks Radiant While Celebrating a Cause Very Near and Dear to Her Heart

Kate Middleton looked positively radiant when she stepped out for the first Action on Addiction gala dinner in London on Wednesday evening. Clad in a white, off-the-shoulder Barbara Casasola dress (which she previously wore to a Natural History Museum event in 2016), the Duchess of Cambridge - who is a patron of the charity, which helps both individuals and families affected by drugs and alcohol - was there to mark Addiction Awareness Week and meet with people and families who have dealt with addiction.

"Action on Addiction was one of my very first patronages, and as such, it is very close to my heart. I'm hugely passionate about the support it provides, especially for parents, children, and families who suffer from, or through, addiction," Kate said in her speech. "Having met so many people who've suffered from addiction, I have seen over and over again that, sadly, the root cause can so often be traced right back to the very earliest years of someone's life. Trauma experienced in early childhood, in some cases, as a result of separation, abandonment, abuse, or even emotional neglect, can have a lasting effect."

Action on Addiction was actually one of the first charities Kate became involved with when she tied the knot with Prince William in April 2011 and became a royal. "What's remarkable about Action on Addiction is that it goes beyond helping those who are suffering on the courageous journey into recovery - it also lends direct support to the children and families affected by addiction for as long as it takes," Kate continued. "There was never a more important time for Action on Addiction to succeed. And I, for one, could not be more delighted to support such a special organization."

Ariana Grande Protests Abortion Laws by Donating Her Concert Proceeds to Planned Parenthood

Ariana Grande is the latest to join the wave of celebrities using their platforms to speak out against a handful of troubling policies. The "7 Rings" singer donated the proceeds from her Atlanta tour stop to Planned Parenthood on June 8, in response to several restrictive antiabortion laws that have been popping up around the country since late April. According to People, Ariana's contribution to the organization - which provides affordable reproductive health care and sex education to millions of women nationwide - was totaled at $250,000.

"Ariana Grande's generous donation comes at a critical time - in Georgia and across the country, anti-women's health politicians are trying to ban all safe, legal abortion," President of Planned Parenthood's Action Fund Dr. Leana Wen said in a statement. "This is not what the American people want, nor is it something they'll stand for . . . Thanks to inspiring support like hers, Planned Parenthood can continue to fight back - in the courts, in Congress, in state houses, and in the streets - against these dangerous attacks on people's health and lives. We are so grateful to Ariana for her longstanding commitment to supporting women's rights and standing with Planned Parenthood to defend access to reproductive health care. We won't stop fighting - no matter what."

In May, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed a bill banning abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. The six-week mark is usually when doctors can detect a fetal heartbeat, though it's also before many women even realize they're pregnant, which is why the law has been criticized so heavily. Ariana's donation follows that of Travis Scott, who also donated the proceeds from his performance at Alabama's Hangout Music Festival to Planned Parenthood last month.

Here's Your Recap of How Last Season of Jessica Jones Ended - So You're Ready For Season 3

Missed your favorite smack-talking private investigator with super strength and a killer leather jacket? Jessica Jones has returned for one last butt-kicking third season. While we're excited for the brand new batch of episodes, it's certainly been a while since the second installation of the series dropped. Between mad scientists, murderous mothers, and cut business ties, a helluva lot went down in Hell's Kitchen when we last saw Jessica and her (former) friends.

Taking a cue from Jessica's detective work, we've gathered up the most crucial details about how the show's last season ended to give you a refresher going into the third season.

Alisa's Jailbreak

Jessica finds her mother Alisa while investigating IGH. But her mother, who she long believed to be dead, isn't quite well. She's fueled with rage and super strength after being experimented on by Karl Malus. While Jessica eventually puts her murderous mother in jail, Alisa breaks out and goes on a rampage when she learned that Karl has died in an explosion that he sets off himself.

Jessica finds her mother, who drugs her and drives off with her in a van. On their impromptu road trip, they rescue victims in a car crash, which brings them a little closer together. But this gets the police on their trail, so they make tentative plans to cross the border to Canada.

Trish Kills

Crawling out of the hospital after recuperating from Karl's botched experiment, Trish tracks down Jessica and her mother. Alisa is on the edge of giving up the chase with the police, getting on a Ferris wheel with her daughter to say her last words. At this point, it just looks like she's giving a signal to the police that she's at the amusement park. But then there's a shot to her head and she dies. It's Trish, who's shooting from the ground. When the cops get to the scene, Jessica tells Trish to run.

Jessica understandingly feels frosty toward Trish, who stops by to talk with her sister later on in the finale. Trish's attempt to reconcile doesn't work, but on her way out, she suddenly discovers superquick reflexes when her phone drops and she catches the fall with her foot. It looks like Karl's twisted operation might have worked on her after all.

Jeri Starts a New Business

After getting scammed by Inez and her fake healer boyfriend Shane, Jeri pretty much has nothing left to lose. She leaves her law firm after Malcolm hands her information about her partners laundering drug money. This intel gives Jeri leverage, which she uses to blackmail her colleagues into handing over her clients and giving her more severance money. At the end of the finale, Jeri kicks off Jeryn Hogarth and Associates. Malcolm also officially calls it quits with Jessica's business, now working with Pryce Cheng. We learn this when Jeri hires Cheng for a case (as opposed to going to Jessica).

Jessica's New Beginning

With her mother dead and her ties to Malcolm and Trish cut, Jessica finds herself alone again. But she swings by for dinner with Oscar and Vido, so it appears that our favorite snarky PI may have found a new and functional love in her life after all.

For now, it looks like everyone has gone their separate way. But we'll see how a new case - and villain - brings everyone back together when season three debuts on June 14.

Here's How Dietitians Say You Can Slowly and Effectively Transform Your Eating Habits

Developing healthy eating habits doesn't have to be as challenging or as emotionally exhausting as you think. For starters, lose any preconceived notions that you need to "diet" in order to feel stronger, happier, and more energized. Nothing will zap your willpower faster than drafting up a list of foods you can't have anymore - just one of the many reasons some people have stricken the word from their vocabulary. It's possible to make healthier choices without feeding into that culture. Need proof? POPSUGAR asked dietitians to share their tips for creating lasting change, and you might be surprised by just how incredibly simple they are.

The Men in Black: International Soundtrack Is - Excuse the Pun - Out of This World Good

Men in Black: International might not have the Fresh Prince performing his classic jam, "Men in Black," but that doesn't mean the soundtrack is lacking in bops! The latest entry into the MIB franchise is full of action, aliens, and seriously jamming tunes. Did you think you'd have the urge to listen to Fergie's "London Bridge" in 2019? Well, that's the magic of Men in Black, movie fans! Only a few songs from the soundtrack have been revealed, but they are more than enough to have us dancing around in our tailored black suits and sharp sunnies. Check out the released tracks ahead and stay tuned for the rest!

Sophie Turner's Bachelorette Party Included a Private Jet and McDonald's - What's Better Than That?

Sophie Turner is getting ready to say "I do" to Joe Jonas for the second time! The 23-year-old Game of Thrones actress is currently enjoying a fun-filled bachelorette party with her friends in Benidorm, Spain. Sophie and her girlfriends - including BFF Maisie Williams and actress Nadia Parkes - kicked off the festivities in a private jet on Sunday before checking in to the East Benidorm hotel. "We can't have nice things. The entire plane spilled their McDonald's & drinks on take off," pal Blair Noel Croce captioned a series of photos of the girls on the plane. "Bless that flight attendant's heart."

Sophie and Joe first began dating in November 2016, and they tied the knot in a surprise Las Vegas wedding after the Billboard Music Awards this past May. Even though the couple are technically already married, their official wedding ceremony is set to take place in France this Summer. The Jonas Brothers are even reported to take the stage for a special performance - we wonder if Joe will sing "Hesitate" for Sophie?

Save Yourself the Wait, We Can Tell You If Men in Black: International Has a Postcredits Scene

Men in Black: International is the latest entry in the MIB franchise and it's packed with as many finely tailored suits, mind-blowing aliens, and drool-worthy space weapons that fans can dream of. With a star-studded cast that includes Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth, the flick is stacked with hilarity and the action (though the plot can leave you scratching your head a little). Considering how the film's conclusion is pretty open-ended - and how much fun the cast had on-set - you're probably expecting a little treat after the credits scroll up. Sorry to say, movie lovers, but MIB: International is one of the Summer flicks without a special surprise at the end.

Some minor spoilers for Men in Black: International ahead!

While there might not be any cheeky footage for viewers patient enough to wait for the credits to roll, the film's ending does hint at a possibility for a future sequel. The bad guys lose and the good guys win, but just as Agents M and H seem to be saying their final goodbyes, the two reunite for one more roadtrip and decide to take the scenic route. With M getting promoted to a full-time agent heading for New York and H being promoted to High T of the London office, it could be a kiss off. But it doesn't feel like it! It's not much, but we can't help but wonder if that roadtrip could lead the two into another adventure.

Maybe a Men and Women In Black: Milky Way? Or even something following Agents M and H in their respective sides of the pond as they handle business in New York and London. It's a franchise about aliens and saving the world, there's infinite possibilities for another round!

Pillsbury's New "Place and Bake" Brownies Are For Lazy Bakers of the World

You've tried Pillsbury's beloved "slice and bake" cookies, and now the brand has Place & Bake Brownies to satisfy lazy bakers all over again. Homemade brownies are not exactly the most time-consuming project in the world, but given the chance to literally just place and bake a bunch of brownies, we'll take it. The new item ($3) is available in select retailers already, and will reportedly launch nationally at the end of July. There are three amazing flavors to choose from, too: marshmallow, fudge, and peanut butter chip. Volunteering to bring over dessert just got a whole lot more tempting.

I Really Want to Believe That Mamma Mia and Big Little Lies Take Place in the Same Universe

At first glance, Mamma Mia! and Big Little Lies don't have much in common. One is a movie, the other is a TV series. One is a fun, colorful musical, while the other is a dark, domestic murder mystery. One features Grecian hotel porn, and the other is all about Monterey mansion porn. But you know what both projects have? Her Royal Hollywood Highness Meryl Streep and a Skarsgard. What if - and this is gonna sound crazy - the events of both the show and the musical were taking place in the same (alternate) universe?!

As a reminder, Stellan Skarsgard plays Bill, one of Donna's potential baby daddies, in the first two Mamma Mia! films, while his real-life son Alexander Skarsgard plays the late Perry Wright in Big Little Lies. Perry also happens to be the son of Streep's character in the show, the menacing Mary Louise. So, theoretically, Donna/Mary Louise could've hooked up with Bill, giving birth to both Perry and Sophie (Amanda Seyfried)? Or would that mean Donna/Mary Louise would be hooking up with Bill/Stellan? And Perry would be . . . OK, now my brain is starting to hurt.

Alright, obviously none of that is actually happening. But it's fun to think about, right? Luckily everyone on Twitter seems to agree, so if you'll excuse me, I'm going to keep scrolling through all the wild connections until it makes sense (or I just start screaming).
