Kesha Preaches '80s Glam in the Righteous Music Video For "Raising Hell"

Kesha promised us "pure and utter debaucherous joy" in the music on her new album, High Road, and the music video for "Raising Hell" certainly delivers on that.

The visual for the party-ready track is steeped in '80s glam, with Kesha playing a preacher with big blond hair and neon skirt suits and living in a massive marble mansion with her abusive husband. Although it's fun to watch the singer bounce around with a gospel choir and live out her Righteous Gemstones fantasy, things soon take a turn for the worse when her husband assaults her and she's forced to defend herself, ending in his death.

This leads to Kesha's character going on the run, dying her hair brown, getting arrested, and teasing the dark places future music videos for High Road might explore. Check out "Raising Hell" (featuring the vocal assist of Big Freedia) above, and then remind yourself why you loved Rainbow so damn much.

15 Influential Directors Who Changed the Horror Genre Forever

The horror genre is an interesting one. On the one hand, it doesn't exactly sweep at the Academy Awards. But, on the other hand, it is those scenes that bury their bones in our subconscious, and dictate the way we navigate our daily lives. When we enter a dark house, we immediately turn our iPhone flashlights on. And when we're invited to a cabin getaway, we certainly think twice. You can thank horror directors for instilling fear into your psyches. They know just the angles to terrorize you, and they know how to generate suspense better than anyone. Keep reading for the 15 horror directors that shaped the genre. We promise, there are no jump scares.

Lupita Nyong'o Talks About Sulwe, Us, and Being a Dark-Skinned Girl in Twitter AMA

Lupita Nyong'o is now a published author thanks to Sulwe, and in a Twitter AMA on Thursday, Nyong'o answered a few important questions about her debut book. She talked about the inspiration behind Sulwe's story and the impact she hopes it has on readers. "When I was growing up, I read books like Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast and Rapunzel and Thumbelina," she said. "There was a lot of pale skin, blond hair, and that sort of thing, and I felt like things like dark skin weren't included. So that's why I wrote a book like Sulwe, because I wanted dark skin to exist in a world of magic."

Nyong'o went on to talk about her love for Beyoncé's "Brown Skin Girl" and explained the importance of seeing yourself and your skin in a beautiful light, despite the amount of pain the opinions of others might have caused in the past. "I feel like the work of adults is to heal their childhood wounds, so this book was very much written as the adult, as well, to have that book that you might have needed when you were younger," she said.

In response to a question from Ophrah Winfrey about her thoughts on brown skin, Nyong'o said, "I know that brown-skinned girls are not a monolith. Another thing that I know for sure is that brown skin is ordinary. The extraordinary thing, or the special thing, is being able to celebrate it, embrace it, in spite of a world that might not value it - and that's what Sulwe is about."

Kick This Halloween Into Full Gear With These Creative Trunk-or-Treat Ideas

If trunk-or-treating is a part of your Halloween tradition, take inspiration from these ideas that are easy, unique, and suitable for kids. With cute ideas that reference some of Halloween's most beloved movies like It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and The Nightmare Before Christmas, these themes are not only perfect for the spooky holiday, but they also won't scare the little ones away.

New to the trunk-or-treat game? Often held in the parking lots of schools, community centers, and churches, trunk-or-treat events involve kids trick-or-treating directly out of the trunk of cars, rather than going door to door. Whether the trunk aligns with an entire costume theme or has a theme of its own, there's something seriously cool about a bunch of cars parked in a safe space for kids to fill their candy buckets from.

Whether this is your first year trunk-or-treating or you've done it for as long as you can remember, get ready to fill your car with sweet treats, ghouls and ghosts, and everything in between. Take inspiration from the best ideas, ahead.

Behold: Jennifer Lopez's Best Beauty Looks of All Time

Though "J Lo Glow" started as the name of Jennifer Lopez's first fragrance, the phrase has become synonymous with her for a long list of reasons. One of which is the multihyphenate star's radiant beauty looks over the years, a list that's complete with eye-catching makeup and hairstyles that always make it seem like she bathes in gold.

When you think of Lopez's beauty moments, you might remember her bright, jewel-toned makeup at the 2003 premiere of Daredevil or her high ponytail at the 2004 Golden Globes. Maybe your mind goes straight to her gleaming "glass" lob at the premiere of Hustlers. Whatever the case may be, you can relive all of them, ahead.

Let's Be Honest About What a Nightmare Factory The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Is

I have all kinds of warm and fuzzy Halloween memories from my childhood, even though the holiday is, by nature, based on scary things. Mostly I remember fondly all of my costumes as a kid, going trick-or-treating with my sisters, and, in the days after, boosting each other up to get our candy bags off the shelf in my mom's closet where she tried to keep them from us. There is one tradition that we had, however, that was not really all that cool and probably helped seed my adult hatred of horror movies: we watched Disney's "animated classic" The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

It seems innocent enough - the 1949 film is based on Washington Irving's early American folk tale, and good ol' Bing Crosby sings throughout. Until Ichabod Crane is murdered on his way home from a Halloween party by a ghoul who would in no way be considered an appropriate Disney villain today. Modern iterations of the tale - the 1999 Tim Burton live-action movie and the live-action Fox drama - have the decency to portray it with the amount of scariness it deserves, but many of us were probably subject to watching the "fun, festive" Disney movie as kids. Herein I will demonstrate exactly why it's not quite the sweet Halloween movie the studio would have you believe, but an Ichabod Crane snuff film.

These Disney-Inspired Halloween Makeup Looks Are Absolutely Enchanting in Every Way

The magic of Disney extends much further than the sweet movies and enchanting theme parks. This Halloween, take inspiration for dreamy costumes and magical makeup looks from your favorite princesses, sidekicks, and villains and transform yourself into one of the best. From Princess Jasmine's baby blue eyeliner that will take you to a whole new world and the Queen of Hearts' black and red makeup that will make you fall in love to Buzz Lightyear's lime green eye shadow that will take your love for makeup to infinity and beyond, these Disney-inspired makeup looks are all kinds of magical.

No matter if you're a diehard Disney fan, makeup-lover, or a mix between the two, these beauty looks will enchant you long after Halloween. Take a peek at the most charming Disney makeup ideas ahead, and prepare to be completely mesmerized.

Jameela Jamil Gets Real About the Importance of Failure: "It Means You Were Willing to Try"

Jameela Jamil doesn't believe in legacies, and she isn't concerned with leaving her own either. Why? "I just care about being a good person now and being loved by the people that I love and I respect. That's it," she said. For a woman who doesn't focus on what she'll leave behind when she's gone, the 33-year-old Good Place actress has already created quite the impact with her I Weigh movement (which will soon turn into a multimedia platform with her at the helm) and ongoing push to change how young adults are exposed to toxic messaging and dangerous diet products online. Jameela recently sat down with writer Ashley C. Ford at NYC's 92Y event to discuss these issues and the importance of failing and making mistakes.

"I'm embarrassed to be a part of this time, and that's why I'm working so hard to try and undo what I can."

Growing up, Jameela experienced an eating disorder and said she "was let down by celebrities and the people I looked up to, and it ruined a big part of my childhood." "I blamed them for the decisions that I made because they had a responsibility to do better for me, to tell me better messages, and to be a better role model," she explained. Today, celebrities and influencers still have the power now to sell "nonsense to us," Jameela noted, and they have Photoshop to distort the truth about their appearances. "I'm embarrassed to be a part of this time, and that's why I'm working so hard to try and undo what I can," she said.

Just as Jameela uses her social media accounts to raise awareness for I Weigh and societal injustices, she also uses them to publicly acknowledge when she's failed. "I make mistakes, I'm human," she said. "As long as I'm willing to change, then there is value in what I am doing." Jameela previously posted a pinned tweet to her account about all of the mistakes she's made in the past. "I realized people were starting to really take me seriously as a voice of support for marginalized groups and people were taking me seriously as an activist. I was like, 'Well hang on a minute. You're hailing me as some sort of feminist icon and I have made loads of mistakes.' I want everyone that comes to my page to know I am imperfect, and if you are imperfect as well, that's okay! We can learn together."

Jameela explained that her activism and social media presence works because "you can sense my passion, my error, and my drive, and I think that it's very clear that this is organic for me." Jameela told Ashley and the crowd that it's also about listening and continuing to learn. "I have made it my mission to prove to people that it's okay to be ignorant as long as you are trying every single day to undo that and to learn more, to be better, and to do better," she said. "I think that is a pivotal part of our society and how we're going to grow to understand each other. If we become afraid of making mistakes or afraid of asking questions, we're never going to put our hands up and we're never going to learn."

"I don't find failure to be failure. I think failure is legendary because it means you were willing to try."

"I'm excited to learn. I don't find failure to be failure," she continued. "I think failure is legendary because it means you were willing to try." Jameela stated that women, in particular, are often told not to try for fear of failure. "We are dictated to what our lanes are from as soon as we can understand, and that's so toxic because there are so many things that you are all capable of that you have no idea about because you've never even been encouraged to try," she said. "Failure does not exist. The only thing I think failure exists in is not ever trying. That's the biggest failure that you can commit."

According to Jameela, to live a successful life one must be bold, take risks, and learn from mistakes. "Know that you're a good person and then it won't matter to you what other people think about you," she said. "It would be great if people with public personas could start to just admit that they're wrong more often, but we should also be more forgiving of each other and more forgiving of ourselves."

Jameela also had some crucial advice for women seeking success: "Fight back as long as it's physically safe for you. Be disobedient. Speak up for yourself. Ask people all the questions. Ask your male colleagues how much they earn. It shouldn't be taboo. You are programmed from an early age not to do that and that's because when you do it, it is often successful . . . speak up and speak out. I beg of you, be disobedient. It is pivotal to our future."

Trader Joe's Has New Philly Cheesesteak Bao Buns, Which Might Be So Bad They're Good

You really never know what to expect when browsing Trader Joe's frozen food section, but I wouldn't have predicted Philly Cheesesteak Bao Buns. According to eagle-eyed shoppers, however, that's one of the newest options at the beloved affordable grocery store. The steamed (and frozen) bao looks like a relatively standard bun on the package, but the inside is filled with shredded beef, American cheese, onions, red bell peppers, green bell peppers, and garlic powder.

Quite sacrilege, sure, but delicious? Reddit user nyxmaris thinks so. As one of the first people to spot this new item, the Redditor took one for the team by including a review in a buzzy thread that includes a photo of the finished product. After describing them as having "really good flavor" and "good, not sticky" dough, this Florida-based Trader Joe's shopper would definitely buy the Philly-inspired buns again.

Trader Joe's is home to popular frozen xiao long bao (soup dumplings) and Chinese-style pork buns with sweet and savory barbecued pork, but throwing American cheese and beef into the mix isn't something we've seen in . . . any grocery store. The comment debates have already begun, so take a look at more evidence of Philly Cheesesteak Bao Buns ($3.49), and decide if they deserve a spot in your red cart.

I Bought This $99 Area Rug on Amazon and It's Totally Transformed My Old Living Room

I live in a rent-controlled apartment in San Francisco, which is basically the equivalent of winning the lottery, and while I want to say I'm lucky for finding the unit, sometimes my carpet makes me think otherwise. My whole place is covered in dirty brown carpeting that has become so matted throughout the decade my roommates have lived there. This year, I've been on a mission to upgrade my space and make it feel cleaner by investing in a some new pieces. I purchased some cool wall art and stylish decor pieces, but the one thing I spent forever looking for was the perfect area rug.

Once day while browsing on Amazon, I came across this ivory Safavieh California Shag ($29-$214) and it caught my eye. I decided to give it a try because it was affordable and I knew it was the piece I needed to brighten up my old living room. I bought the five by seven choice for under my coffee table and at just $99, it was the perfect choice.

After getting it delivered to my front door within just a few days, I was instantly impressed by the quality. It's thick, fluffy, soft, and, most importantly, bright. Within seconds, my living room felt like a whole new space. The light from my bay windows reflected perfectly onto the fuzzy surface to create a fresh new feel. The upkeep has been much easier than I thought, too. I have a shoe-free home, which helps keeps dirt at bay, and the rug's material is easy to vacuum. It comes in several sizes and colors, so you can snag the perfect one for your home, too!

We couldn't be more excited about Let It Snow, especially given the amazing group of actors Netflix has assembled. The cast of Let It Snow includes some of the brightest up-and-coming names in Hollywood, all working together on a sweet, fun holiday rom-com about a group of teens whose lives intersect during a snowstorm. You'll definitely recognize some of the bigger names, who have had major roles in your favorite TV shows and movies; others haven't hit the big-time yet but are already Netflix veterans. There's a pretty sprawling cast, but here are the actors to keep an eye on when Netflix's Let It Snow starts streaming on Nov. 8.

I Haven't Been to a Gym All Year - Instead, I Work Out at Home With These 8 Products

I've never considered myself an avid workout person, but the last couple years, I've gotten a lot more into my fitness routine. I started by attending various gyms, but I always found them too expensive or far away from my house. Then I switched my focus to classes, which I still absolutely love, but they can be expensive when going several days a week. I finally decided to cancel my gym membership once and for all and work out at home instead. I love learning new things in classes and with instructors, then trying them on my own later.

The key to getting the right workout, though, involves a couple products. I invested in a few things, like a comfortable workout mat and even a stationary bike, but the amount of money it's saved me in the long run has been worth every penny. So if you're also trying to exercise more at home, I've shared a couple of my favorite items ahead that can help you, too. Keep reading to shop them all and see which ones fit your routine.

Swedish Pop Star Zara Larsson Shares Her Tips For On-Stage Makeup - "Go Off With the Liner”

Zara Larsson is know for her subtle yet glamorous onstage looks, and the Swedish pop star wasn't shy about sharing some of her favorite beauty tips in a makeup tutorial with Vogue on Wednesday. While Larsson likes to keep her look young, fresh, and natural, she makes an exception when it comes to eyeliner. "Go off with the liner," she says. Also, can we just point out how amazing her wickedly long, bright green nails look? So cool.

The 21-year-old "Lush Life" singer starts her routine by applying Bioderma's Micellar Water ($6), which she loves because it's gentle on her eyes, and follows up with Darphin's Chamomile Intral Toner ($45) to help balance her skin's pH.

After letting the mask set for 15 minutes, Larsson applies some of Lait Crème Concentré by Embryolisse ($28), IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ ($39), Tarte's Shape Tape Contour Concealer ($10), and Chanel's Les 4 Ombres Quad Eye Shadow Palette. Then it's time for liner. "The liner's like a dog - a mean dog, because you can't show it that you're scared and you've got to be the boss of it," Larsson says before using an angled brush to demonstrate a gorgeous cat eye. She finishes off the look with her favorite Shiseido Eyebrow Pencil ($25), Yves Saint Laurent's The Slim Matte Lipstick ($39), and Urban Decay's Makeup Setting Spray For Oil Control ($15).
